I can't get over how octoscara is born from a condom egg 😭 ok but yknow how in that fungus scara art he gets stuck in a bubble? I think it would be really neat if baby octoscara can float on air like that (only as a child) and he tries to use his powers to defend reader but whenever he blows a bubble he accidentally gets trapped :( reader would panic and catch him when his bubble bursts, then laugh at him when they realise he is ok, only for scara to pout and huff (he only calms down when reader nuzzles against him and kisses his head)

Okay but I've been thinking about the tiny puppy getting adopted by the Putt Putt cats thing I mentioned and. Okay not to shove my oc into this but I was thinking about Birdie, Clay and Viva's daughter, or yknow any other kid in the Putt Putt trolls for that matter, befriending this little puppy, and everyone else is like okay well it's not that big, so we guess you can keep it--except then the dog grows up to be absolutely MASSIVE, like Irish wolfhound levels massive, and everyone's panicking but now the kid and the dog have a BOND and they can't be separated so everyone just has to deal with it. The good news is the dog was raised by cats so he's really not as aggressive / hyperactive as he could be.

“T-Rex is settling pretty nicely! All the kiddies love him, he’s super friendly.” Viva skips to her own tune as she leads Clay to the center of the course.

Dinner was soon, and it was the best time for them to talk shop about work details. Clay’s already filled her in on the paper and safety side of things during the walk, and now Viva was talking to him about the newest feral cats in their little community here.

Hole in Fun wasn’t just their home, it was the home for these furry friends. Plenty of cats, each their own amount of injured and scorned by creatures bigger and badder than them, flock to the safety of the golf course. Clay suspects that, with their constant feeding and caring of these animals, word spreads fast in the feral community. They’ve had kittens scaling their walls and settling into patches of empty, unused golfing dirt and turf within the next week of befriending Scrap Metal.

Soft Boy, Marshmallow, Spikes, Thorn, Whipped Cream, Cupcake, Sprinkles, all the cats were named by the community and they were all loved. Some were simple passerbys in their lives, Mossball and Fungus being two who regularly come and go as they please, a mere visit, but others were like T-Rex. Permanent stays who made it clear they weren’t going anywhere anytime soon. Especially with how happily he plays with the little Trollings that run around his paws.

“And the adults like him, too?” Clay prompts, watching T-Rex jump for one of the Trollings, falling over himself in the process. He’s a clumsy one, that’s for sure. Him and his broad tail. He’s knocked over more then a few displays already, but thankfully, he’s just tall enough to avoid their Pods.

Viva just nods, a broad smile on her face. “Everyone loves him! He’s made a good home here, I’m sure of it.” She says with confidence, nodding in approval only a Queen could provide.

Clay simply chuckles. He will admit, the cats have done a world of good for their Trolls’ mental health. It seems having the extra life and security around has people less paranoid and more willing to settle. It’s comforting, knowing they’re finally able to grow a life, a real life out here.

Still, he watches the kitten jump with the kids, and tilts his head. “Say, looking at it…isn’t T-Rex a bit…different? From the other cats?”

“Mr.Clay!” Viva lightly punches his shoulder, making Clay pout. “We do not judge people for their differences.”

“Yeah, but…Viva…”

There’s a clear difference between this feral cat and the rest of them within Hole in Fun’s walls. For one, he’s bigger then the rest. Not by too much, he’s certainly no Dessel who sleeps proudly atop their tallest hill near the back of the golf course, but he’s…bigger. Thicker limbs and body. He eats more, with larger teeth. He doesn’t meow, or purr, but barks with sharp noises. He’s learned to control his volume, but he’s not the same. He’s bigger, stronger, louder…

One thing is very clear to Clay.

“That’s not a cat.” He finishes, gesturing to the puppy that rolls around with the littlest Putt Putts, the children all excited for their newest friend who seems to be endless fun. “I’m pretty sure that’s a dog, actually.”

Viva crosses her arms, looking at the so-called dog in question. “No way! That’s totally a cat! I should know, there’s dozens of them here.”

“His paws are huge!” Clay argues, shaking his head. “Actually, he’s big, period. I’m pretty sure he’s gonna grow up to be huge…” Can dogs outgrow a golf course? He hopes not, they only have so much stuff here.

“He’s just a bit bigger than the other cats.” Viva waves off, a confident smirk on her face as she looks at Clay. “If he’s a dog, why does he love climbing so much, hm?”

Clay blinks, opening his mouth, before closing it once again in thought. She has a point. T-Rex, named by the little ones for his short front legs, had a love for climbing. He wasn’t good at it, dull nails and general clumsiness kept him falling from heights he couldn’t catch himself at. But, he did do it a lot. Dogs weren’t fans of heights, were they? Clay wishes those pet books had less on insects and more on these bigger, Bergen-kept beasts. Cats, dogs, if he knew the differences properly he could be confident.

“Oh!” Viva leans forward, confidence surging. “And, if he is a dog, why doesn’t he pant? Or land wrong?” She points at him. “He always lands on his paws! He’s a very good cat, and it’s rude of you to say he’s not.”

For now, however, he must concede. He simply doesn’t know enough to say she’s wrong.

So, with a sigh, Clay dips into a deep, dramatic bow. “Oh, your highness! Forgive me for my incompetence, questioning your judgement is the last thing I would ever wish-ack!” Clay snickers as he’s shoved lightly, fumbling to his feet to give Viva a grin of his own. “I guess, for now, he’s a cat.”

“For now.” Viva agrees, a giggle on her lips. With ease, she moves to stand at Clay’s side, paws intertwining between gaps of their fingers. “Your Queen demands it!”

“Ah, whatever the Queen wants, the Queen receives!” Clay pretends, the two falling into light laughter as they hurry for the kitchen, eager to finally fill their stomachs after a long day of work.

T-Rex was safe, fed, and happy. Dog, cat, it doesn’t matter much, Clay supposes.

As long as he’s a good boy, he always has a place within Hole in Fun.

the fungus is a fungus and a wittle bit carnivorous i don’t actually know if fungi can be carnivorous

but also due to human inclinations they are social and yknow

also with this fungus it’s much like the vampire parasite in that it can affect the hosts body and appearance

also they have no tails like the old legends describe them

Just saw this post on my dash and wanted to comment on this keeley bit cause i've seen this argument made a few times now and i just feel like i wanna add my own carrots to the soup:

Am i pissed off that people keep forgetting keeley's queer? Absofrigginlutely. Am i pissed off that a character can't casually mention her attraction to women and be taken seriously for it? You BETCHA. But the sad truth is that if i asked my family whether they thought keeley was bisexual and showed them the evidence they'd all go 'it's just a joke'. Which, yeah, is homophobic (rural queer rite of passage 😌) and sucks balls. But to me it proves the point that in mainstream media, we've just not reached the point yet where keeley's off-hand comments about her sexuality are enough to make an audience question its own homophobic bias. And i think it's easy to forget that in our tumblr bubble, as op mentioned in their above post, all of these takes and accusations around whether someone is acting homophobic or not (this applies to tedtrent shippers accusing tedbeccas of homophobia as well, though i've only seen that on twitter so far) are so far removed from the ACTUAL homophobic takes that are prevalent in the larger fandom of white conservative christians who think ted lasso is about how to have a positive attitude towards capitalism. Queer people saying 'i wish the ted lasso writers took keeley's sexuality more seriously' are not the enemy, just as much as queer people saying 'let keeley be silly and goofy about liking women' aren't. It's casual audiences who are so oblivious to any sort of queer insinuation that even if keeley were to kiss rebecca on the mouth, they'd probably call them very good friends. And while i think it's flipping fantastic to see keeley be unashamedly bi while being in a relationship with roy (well yknow, hopefully again soon), wanting something more explicit on tv that will cause obvious discomfort in the very specific homophobic audience niche of sports fans and karens is perfectly valid. AND IT DOESN'T MATTER WHICH CHARACTERS WOULD ENGAGE IN SUCH A PLOTLINE. I think many people flocked to tedtrent because people started laying out (very sparse) arguments within season 1 and 2 that could be read in a queer way and now that not only ted is a main character but also trent a title character the ship was bound to gain more popularity as that's just how these things work. But if in the end tedbeard turned out to be canon i would eat my own arm (out of positive emotion and delight). If colin and isaac turned out to be a couple i might worry that the storyline lasts for 1 episode and nothing more due to the size of their roles, but ultimately i'd sob at the tv and wouldn't shut up about them ever again. It really doesn't matter WHO challenges the general audience as long as it happens. And as much as i love keeley, her comments so far haven't managed to trigger that sort of uproar in the audience that would kick off an avalanche of arguments around queer characters and their space in media (and i wanna specify again that this refers to the general audience, not the queer tumblr-residing one that has obviously had this discussion around keeley). Anyway ted lasso writers, let keeley and jodi balfour's character get nasty on screen please 🫶

(Also, i keep seeing posts insinuating that the tedtrent fandom has turned awful and i'd be much obliged if someone could enlighten me on that front as i don't know whether i'm just entirely oblivious in my own bubble of people but whenever i check the tedtrent tag all i see is gifs, theories for the upcoming episodes or people going 'haha i know i have shit brain fungus but what if')

On the topic of your actual question- I can definitely see her doing that! Some of the non-magic interests we know she has (based on things like posters in her room or references she makes) off the top of my head are like. Off-brand versions of soul eater, resident evil, various animes, etc.

Tbh I feel like (since this would obvi take place during the montage in Thanks to Them) all of the witch kids would really enjoy horror related media? Like. It reminds them of home when they see gnarly bodies mutilated by fungus or anime battles where some twink gets bisected. The boiling isles is Scary As Hell and there seems to be a very casual attitude towards violence a lot of the time (grudgby as a sport, the fact that a 14 yr old was allowed to enter an underground fighting ring, etc)? That's part of the whole joke is that Luz gets isekaid to a very inhospitable fantasy world so unlike her dreams! But for the rest of the hexsquad, zombies and draculas and what have you brings back memories, yknow?

Personally I'm partial to Luz getting some of the other kids into resident evil the most bc. I like resident evil lol. putting forth the hc that Leon Kennedy was Hunters bi awakening

But also Hunter has a Japanese flag patch on his sweater so I'm taking that as evidence that he's at least seen anime. I'm more versed in shoujo than shounen (willow and amity would love sailor moon btw. Amity also likes precure and willow likes cardcaptor sakura) but I feel like there's a lot of shounen anime that would appeal to Hunter. Gus too! But also I feel like Gus has really eclectic taste in media. He watches shows meant for different age groups, he watches things in different genres. He watches French new-wave and he watches kids cartoons. He's got the range.

he just wants to in take as much of human culture as possible and honestly? I think it'd be fun if Luz and Gus' roles as Human and Witch are reversed in the sense that the witch is strong-arming the human who's obsessed with magic into showing them ~human stuff~ bc they're autistic about it. It's dynamics like these that I love in the show and I know they would've loved to do more with everyone in the human realm 😭

food is important for, yknow, staying alive and all that, so it's best to plan that out first thing! you gear up and head outside.

it's a bit warmer than anticipated, but catching a chill would kill the day's momentum before it can even really start. the coat was your dad's- you were told you'd grow into it, but it's still oversized.

the storms have been getting less frequent as winter passes, so the risk of aerosolized cm is probably fairly low- you probably could have gotten away with your glasses. still, better safe than sorry.

anyway, food. the one thing everyone praised about this area was how well everything seems to grow; since you're only feeding yourself you only risk going hungry in the dead of winter, and even that's easily abated by just being prepared.

you cook large batches of food for efficiency's sake, but having a diverse variety of meals is important both nutritionally and psychologically, so you usually eat those for lunch, and make sure to do a single serving thing every couple days or so.

that... does mean you have to figure out what you want. the kale is doing well, and you have some carrots in cold storage that should probably be eaten soon, but that's not really enough, you'll have to think about what to put-

Bug fables spoilers, particularly leif's request, under the cut

Okay okay so. Zommoth, right? Particularly their dynamic with Leif?

Now, I'm all for angst. I'm all for a couple of mothshrooms fighting to the death. But... well, i've got a take that i haven't actually seen before. found family those fungus.

Imagine if it turned out that Zommoth attacking Team Snakemouth was just some sort of misunderstanding. Maybe they were scared, maybe they were trying to protect their territory, hell, maybe they saw Leif as kin and assumed the other two were trying to hurt him. Now, imagine that, after that big fight, they get back up.

And they don't try and finish the job.

Now, honestly, I think Leif... never really accepted the truth. Leif's Request is optional. It had to be wrapped up nicely so it wouldn't affect the main story too much- Of course, this means the conclusion turns out feeling kinda forced... But maybe Leif is coping with denial. Maybe he's not actually at peace with what he is. Maybe he's scared, scared that he's dangerous, scared of what harm he could possibly cause whether or not he wanted to.

And now, he's face to face with someone who's a lot like him. A lot less... alive-looking, sure. Maybe a bit closer to a vaguely sentient weird dog than a full person. but they’re like him, in a way.

I think Leif and Zommoth being buddies is a really good dynamic. Siblings, even- And I think Zommoth's presence could help Leif with his issues in a way that, sadly, Vi and Kabbu wouldn't be able to. The support of friends can do wonders, sure, but when your troubles are something so terrifyingly unique to you, like, yknow, learning you're a parasite in a dead man's corpse?

it would be nice to have someone to relate to. Not just relate to- Someone to heal alongside of. Someone who's still in a similar situation to you, someone who's like you right NOW, who hasn't healed yet. Somebody who can help you learn to love yourself while still needing helpnof their own. I think Zommoth fits that niche very nicely for Leif- Sure, they're probably not having an identity crisis like he is, but... They're a cordyceps too. They're like him. And they're DEFINITELY going through some serious fuckin' trauma, you canNOT tell me that a giant zombified lab experiment wouldn't have issues.

I think theyd work nicely as friends, in the sense that they're essentially eachothers therapy dogs. Leif helping Zommoth recover from the years of isolation and the experiments and maybe whatever shattered bits of memories might be left over from their host. Zommoth teaching Leif how to care for himself in the way he actually needs to, as a fungus, not a moth. To accept that, even if he doesn't like it, he can’t change what he is, and neglecting his needs as a Cordyceps won't change the fact that he's a Cordyceps.

in other words- i propose the Cordysibs AU. let Zommoth join the found family. they deserve it.

just watched legends of tomorrow 6.15 “the fungus amongus” nice episode :) not as outstanding as i might have wanted or expected from a finale but thats ok. at least we got to see sara and ava get married. and sara wore PANTS. well a jumpsuit but still. i was gonna be so mad if she wore a white dress too but she didnt so its all good. constantine sendoff was not great but yknow you do what you gotta do. i like that hes at least still around and not dead. i do sort of like his point at the end where hes like yeah im a horrible person but now i know what im missing. thats something at least. wedding was really cute. im against marriage but just this once ill allow it. was sweet how gary walked ava down the aisle. and both sara and ava’s vows were so touching. and then when they kissed and it saved the day! i thought it was nice when mick’s alien kids hatched and ate bishop. such cute babies. i don’t really buy the romance between mick and kayla but that’s fine whatever. i like that he wants to take care of his kids now even though it means he wont be in the last season. was awesome how spooner acted as a power conduit. does she still have her alien empathy powers or no longer? i guess her initial character arc has kind of ended but it seems like the writers have a good grasp on her character and i bet they will do interesting things with her character next season. the final little cliffhanger at the end of the episode was very fun i am excited to see what they do with that next season. 

Dreams Feb 17

I went to a fancy celebrity party where there was ppl like Walter White and ht ecast of gravity falls but real. I was wearing my flower earrings except they were pierced into me cheeks which hurt like hell so I have tu take the stoppers out of my reg ear earrings to put onto them, Walter was very nice complimented my look bc he said it works by having a rounder face (it was like a dad being proud type of compliment) I gave him a hug. Then the party moved over to the back and the front became like a convenience store with snacks and Gatorade. I was still fiddling with my face piercings. Next thing you know the conscience store starts to look more like a home with couches windows, a kitchen and some windows. I was bored and went on discord and was devastated to find the one art server I lile discontinued but thankfully it was just an internet glitch. Then there came a knocking and this pudgy dude tries coming in hes like this big anti vax sexist dude and I kick his ass and push him out of the house, he drops his fake med card that he flaunts and I pick it up. I lock the doors n windows, his buddy comes to join him saying how I'm gonna get sued for assault but I say it's my house and yadda yadda you dont have any documents proving shit, and he goes sure we do amd pulls out his med card, remember his pudgy guy dropped his, this makes him furious bc now all the points he made were obsolete and just embarrassed himself. They argue, I throw the card onto the card and go "uhh is that it" and they turn and grab it, this makes the partner just so pissed and humiliated that he just says "yknow what I'm sorry, we dont have to sue each other, if you want we add money to the proceedings, have it get canceled and you can get the untaxed cash later" that seemed a bit uh sketch so I refused, and the 2 dudes went on there way bc apparently the beliefs are mostly for show to get money from stupid ppl willing to donate and angry ppl to sue.

Then the dream changed, I was like sully from monsters inc and me and my were going thru diff doors to help kids, no longer just making them laugh, but neglected ones lile cleaning them and their place up and well medical treatment. Sometimes when stuck outside we would be in a human form disguise. Lo and behold we get caught outside si we become human and mistaken as the babysitters for this family's kids. They run around and play and then this girl seizes up and freezes, she starts to flail on the ground scratching and hissing. It looked like rabies ngl, everyone comes over concern and strap her down to take her to the hospital but she quickly ends up dying and now it's become a thing where we have to figure out the disease. Due the rapid onset of symptoms and decline of the body, I think we determined it to be some kind of fungus, since we were playing outside, (def nothing irl bc lile nothing just has such a short incubation time and just straight kills the host... I think).

I leave and take s car ride through the country that I thought was Michigan bc of how flat and fieldy it was but I could just straight up see NYC and its skyline so I thought oh I'm in Connecticut (the geography does not make sense) and all it did was reassure my belief that, god I have to live near some terrain I cannot stand flat

i feel like most of my blorbos can fight pretty well either because they're just an unkillable motherfucker, military trained or all the above

so; we know from the mc wiki that piglins mined out all the netherite. that’s canon. we get scraps from ancient debris, because that’s all that’s left behind. fun fact about dungeons! we get to see those drills they used, and hooboy are they So Much Bigger than what you expect. the drill bit is made from solid gold, with blackstone support structures and giant chains to connect them. and the drills aren’t all, because piglins actively have mechanical technology, in the form of drawbridges, lava drainage systems, and sawblades. yeah. those are all things that the piglins made. and they made them with drumroll please… netherite! yeah! look at the drill landscape photo below, and you’ll see netherite used in so many of the structures — the fences, the chains, even parts of the drill itself!

and yet, we only get to see these things after they’ve been ruined. we have ruined infrastructure, technology, and even residency that belongs to the piglins, and it’s all broken apart. pulled apart, seemingly, in many cases, almost like a natural disaster similar to an earthquake happened. like the kind that would be triggered by overdrilling. yeah. yknow, just stuff like that.

and then let’s talk about piglin jobs! we have the same vanilla classes, in the regular piglin wielding a sword or crossbow, and the brutes carrying the axe. and the fungus throwers! motherfuckers. it’s very important to note that while i call them brutes, their in game name is armored piglins. the idea of brutes doesn’t exist yet. instead we have piglins, and piglin hunters, fungus throwers (aoe mushrooms bombs similar to a lingering potion of poison), and armored piglins. and bastions? if they exist we don’t see them — the most we see are called ‘treasure rooms,’ which are little pocket dimensions that piglins stored gold in.

A few minutes ago i randomly remembered the Cordyceps fungi. Yknow, the one that kills and infects bugs by controlling their bodies? Really well remembered for its role in The Last of Us zombies?

Well since trolls are (partly) just evolved bugs, do you think they’d be effected by the fungi? I think it’d be like getting a tapeworm for trolls, but since it effects the mind said troll would get hallucinations and such. And if it progressed far enough, the troll would begin to act erratically as the fungi begins to affect more and more of their brain; since there’s no cure for a thing they’ve never dealt with before, the fungi would go from being a troll equivalent of a tapeworm to full fledged troll rabies.

Now this is just something i made up on the spot as it popped into my brain and kept getting more and more fledged out. Feel free to ignore this if you so wish but i just had to get it off my mind.
