Reasons everyone should watch 1899:
a good old fashioned brain fuck brought to you by the creators of Dark
Daniel Solace
a bunch of people who all speak different languages run around for 8 hours unable to communicate and yelling at each other that they can’t understand what other people are saying
messy-haired Aneurin Barnard running around looking tortured and being pretty
beautiful cinematography
Andreas (DILF) Pietschmann
honestly just an amazing cast all around
Olek just being the most sweet, helpful, lovely person ever
also a good deal of badassery
pretty people being sad and confused
loml Daniel Solance, please he just needs a hug and a kiss
Olek and Ling Yi
just lots of brain fuckery and confusion and pining tbh
I’m still confused and there’s so many ways to interpret everything and I need more
just trust me on this one, please watch it

I currently have writer's block and fucked around and made Iliad and Odyssey memes :'D Some look like "repeats" but aren't. Just different scenarios/people. Enjoy!
There's... A LOT. I don't care if you pick out your favorites! I put this all in one post as I don't want to spam the tags! :D

Please understand that, more often than not, works of fiction are a fictional exploration of concepts and ideas rather than a declaration of morality

Hey got a question, is it normal for your heartbeat to beat rapidly wherever you look at really tense or angsty scenes?
It's Just a question I had in mind
Tumblr media
putting these together because they're clearly related. i admit these have me a little bit stumped, but i'll take this in good faith and do my best! under the cut because of length.
topics include: physiological reactions to fiction, emotional reactions/empathy of creators, and finally addressing the unspoken question present in asks like this.
"is it normal to have a physiological reaction (heart beat, jitters, excitement, sadness, etc) to fiction"
absolutely! i cannot overstate how common it is to have reactions of any wide variety to fiction. the whole point of storytelling is to make you feel things! the reactions you have, their intensity, and the specific media or genre you'll have those reactions to will vary person to person. in regards to angst in particular, like i've said on this topic before: reactions will vary. some people might get excited, others might get sad, others might feel it like a gut punch but in a really good and cathartic way. none of these are better or worse or more normal or more abnormal than the other.
"do i as a creator have an emotional reaction to the work i'm creating?"
i personally do, sure. i was actually quite explicit in the tags of the comic that came right before this ask that i found it hard to draw, because seeing kirby so sad was emotionally pulverising to me. do all creators? no. do i feel a strong emotional reaction to all scenes? no. or all types of content creation? no. for me, prose is actually much easier to tackle than illustration; i can write trauma and suffering and psychological devastation until the cows come home, but drawing it is a different matter. consuming the work of others is different again. and this is different for everybody. am i somehow morally better or more empathetic than an artist that doesn't struggle to draw characters sad? hell no! being able to represent- in fiction- a strong emotion generally requires that you empathise with or at least understand that emotion. sometimes creators actually have to be able to turn this off to be able to create the content we make; the way we turn off strict adherence to reality in order to write fantasy. if we couldn't do this, content across the board- art, movies, novels- would be flattened to nothing but the cheeriest and most mediocre parts of our day to day lives. no fun monsters (because those aren't real). no challenges to rise above (because those make us sad). no characters who have different experiences to us (because how could we imagine or feel for that). and it would be okay for like... twenty minutes of all books containing 'the sun was shining and i woke up on time and had a yummy breakfast', but then it would suck, sorry. conflict and imagination are the root of content.
"it's just a question I had in mind".
a way to think about this might be; would you ask these questions about genres that aren't angst? would you ask "is it normal to be happy when these characters finally reunite" or "is it normal to feel resolution in response to a happy ending" or "is it normal to feel excitement when a character has their cool hero moment". perhaps it's because your reaction to angst is something you construe as negative, but if you wouldn't doubt your reactions to cheerful content, then there's no reason to doubt the reactions you have to angst either; these are just reactions! fiction is designed to make us feel things, but what you feel will be up to you. no one feeling or response is better or worse than any others.
lastly, i feel like there is an unspoken question here that i don't like.
and maybe you didn't intend it. i'm going to extend that grace to you, and because you seem to need reassurance about this (though i will not be reassuring about this further. i do not like reassurance seeking from strangers and this is a boundary i am setting right now), this is not an attack or even a criticism. your questions are fine if they are coming from a place of curiosity and- i simply assume- that these are new or difficult concepts to you that you have yet to have explored or explained.
but on the good faith assumption you didn't intend it, and wouldn't want to do this again (especially if you message other creators), i think you should be aware.
because it sounds like this: "do the people who make sad/angsty/dark content care at all or are you heartless to the suffering (of these characters). is angst/dark content made by bad people?" i felt it the previous time i got a question like this too when it explicitly stated "you seem like a nice person", as if being a nice person was in contrast with what i was creating.
please. we are just people. the relative light or darkness of the content you make says absolutely nothing about your morals, your real life attitudes, or your ability to be an empath.
someone making cute animal art could be a school yard bully. someone writing a complex sci-fi warhorror fic could be the most altruistic and compassionate soul in the world.
in my experience, creators are some of the most empathetic people i have ever met, and many of them know their craft intimately. these are people capable of stepping into the shoes of others as easily as breathing. of sitting down at their work station every day and finding inside themselves a way to answer "how would this really feel?" so clearly and honestly that they can put it onto the paper for you to feel it too.

my BG3 character has developed such a strong personality that he keeps trying to break out of the game and make himself into the main character of an original story, which I am attempting to discourage, because God knows I do not need another WIP on my hands. I'll just draw pictures of him instead

Bad has so many reasons to be cautious, even paranoid, as anyone else on the island. From Federation nonsense to Dapper being kidnapped to the whole purgatory nonsense to whatever fuckass suit of armor “old friend” was setting up cameras in his house. But it compounds on his regular overly aware paranoid self to this state of hyper-paranoia. And as a demon who can and usually will lie, cheat, steal, and use sneaky underhanded tactics, he expects the craziest extent because he thinks of it, realizes it’s possible, and would use it himself. We saw this very obviously in purgatory - when he thought greens desperate last ditch effort to balance the scale was a super planned out tactic to tip the scale, so he did it first, all the hardcore base hunting, the spawn killing, there’s a reason every other tactic he used usually followed a main channel qsmp post with updated rules - all usually things he was surprised no one else thought of. But then this also piles onto the fact that he has to have things go his way, all the time, and that he’s argumentative as all get out, which led to the debate between him and Bagi yknow. Especially because he’s not just doing it for the sake of being right, he doesn’t think he’s paranoid, but that he’s exercising the right amount of caution.
So like. Listen dude. Yeah he’s got reasons to be paranoid. But his thought process around building vaults for separate cookie caches like they locked up the risus pills, only to scrap it because it’s not perfectly impenetrable, is extreme. His character has hardly been a leading example in someone who has reasonable reactions to things. And even when there isn’t his own children’s livelihoods potentially on the line, he has a need for control, and the most control he has is if he keeps the cookies in his inventory at all times. If he makes himself the sole point in which the others can get ones in a case of emergency, then he can control the variables. The problem is he’s unreliable about himself when he’s at his most rational and healthiest, and he’s far worse with the current memory and health issues he’s been mostly unaware of.
I dunno it’s like. There is never going to be a purely impenetrable base. And it’s not just a case of “Bagi just hasn’t lived through __ yet!”. Bad’s own logic about keeping the cookies on him at all times is flawed under his own logic, because Bagi is right - if someone has enough drive to break into separate secured cookie caches purely for the downfall of eggs, they more than certainly have enough drive to find a way to kill Bad and just take them from his inventory, or to just kill the eggs themselves. All it truly does is give Bad a sense of control, and soothe his paranoia.
#everyone let’s remember rurus’ tweet about bad NOT being in the blunt rotation. he would try to pluck cameras out of your eyes. and he will#make it seem like it’s the most reasonable thing to do in that moment#now this is more me complaining about shit I’ve been seeing on Twitter in the tags <3 love and peace but I’ve got beef#side note - to say the people who are commenting on qBad’s paranoia or this and that are all newcomers who just ‘weren’t there to experienc#-the dark times’ or ‘weren’t there for the egg deaths/nightmares’ like you are not immune to the way bbh can make something seem so#reasonable#he’s got his own reasons to be paranoid. and most everyone agreed that the base idea of a ‘cookie jar’ would need rethinking with security#but to say qBagi (or Jorge’s/other viewers) is shortsighted or naive. when qBad is THE definition of paranoia. of overreacting. like#qBad’s reaction extends from a mixture of care hyper paranoia and trauma response (which is half that hyper paranoia)#and he will pick and pick and pick until there’s nothing left to pick at#sometimes this is helpful. a lot of the time it’s not#and on the flip side it’s like y’all bad cares about the eggs to a ridiculous degree don’t be silly here okay. he does this because he care#even without a memory in his brain he calls them ‘little one’ and is gentle like. he cares#but at the same time this doesn’t always justify his nonsense. his thought processes. he’s Uber hyper paranoid and not easy to reason with#he’s selfish he can and will jump to extremes he’s overly controlling. and he’s the worlds most unreliable narrator#I’ve been saying this I’ll keep saying this he’s an unreliable narrator! this doesn’t make everything he says or thinks bullshit but you#cannot take what he says to himself how he justifies his actions etc etc in private at face value. unless he is making it EXPLICITLY CLEAR#he’s talking from a meta perspective as the creator of his character#you have to take his perspective with a grain of salt. because he will ‘I’m just a little guy and the world is out to get me’ his way outta#everything#there is a difference between reasonable caution from learned past experiences and overly anxious paranoid responses#idk I’m running out of steam sorry this is like a second post with the tags#and again I say this as a huge qBbh enjoyer lmao#mcyt#qsmp#q!bbh#q!bagi#z speaks

Inktober Day 2: Hunting Hound
(TW: Blood, injuries, and monsters)
Tumblr media
And the variants 'cause I think they're funky.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So this is a day late but I was reeeeally fucking tired the other one but I was working on it. Just didn't get to finish. The one for today will be shortly posted after this one.
And, for those of the Stobotnik community who don't know, this is a Werewolf!Stone AU created by the amazing @kellterntempest , who also created the Vampire!Stone AU (yes, let's just keep making Stone a monster, I live for it). If you have the chance, please go check out their ideas and art for it because it is FABULOUS! Anyways, enough about me fanning over other Stobotnik artists' work, just enjoy some edgy gay villains.
(And I know our baby boy Stone would never hurt the Doctor but what it? 👀)

How do you think the Brothers would react to team RWBY having knowledge of their origins?
Okay, now THIS is interesting.
At this point, it's pretty up in the air HOW the Brothers will react to just about anything. Hell, I think it's possible that even JINN might be something of an unreliable narrator about them, given how she was created by the God of Light specifically.
Though I do think it's a safe bet that they will NOT have seen it coming and that their reaction, particularly Light's, might not be particularly graceful.

She wakes screaming and covered in blood.
Tumblr media
There is a thing squirming in her skull. The squidlike creature with its long grasping fingers put it there and it chewed its way behind her eye and it sits, wriggling, gnawing, aching, and she screams, because she does not know where she is, or what she is, or WHO she is.
She scrambles from the pod like a panicked animal, comes out on her feet, ready to dart in any direction.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
She is ready for an attack from any direction, but nothing comes. There is nothing but flame and broken machinery in all directions.
And what was she going to do if there was something worse? There's a large staff strapped to her back that she supposes she could hit them with... She doesn't know, not really, only that there is a rage mixed in with the panic that wants desperately to lash out at her captors like a beast with teeth and claws.
But there is nothing to strike.
Slowly that rage-panic calms to a simmer, leaving her gasping and tingling with adrenaline.
Tumblr media
Narrator: The blood in your head thrums and pounds. That pounding blood obscures who you are. An overwhelming loss of memory. How you ended up amidst these hellish flames is just as hidden. You have nothing in your skull, besides your name and a headache. But you are in danger.
Say your name aloud. You have a part of yourself.
The instinct, being so unmoored as she is, is to go back to basics, to recite everything she knows and put it into a coherent picture, starting from the very beginning. Her name.
"Rakha...The Dark Urge." She mutters the words; her own voice sounds unfamiliar, gutteral and frightened.
And then she stops, stumped. What comes next?
There is nothing else. No memory, no context, no purpose, no plan.
Well - not quite true. There are facts. She focuses on the facts, enumerates them one by one.
My name is Rakha. Someone calls me the Dark Urge. I am covered in blood.
It is not my blood. I am not wounded.
I have a large stick and a headache.
There is a squid creature nearby. It put a worm in my head.
I do not know who I am. I do not know how I got here.
I am afraid.
It is all little enough to go on. But the simple, true statements are marginally soothing, providing a sense of resolution that melds uneasily with the beast of rage and terror sitting in her gut.
Tumblr media
Narrator: The Dark Urge. Whatever that is. That is you. You will claw back the truth - but first you have to claw your way out of here.

Honestly I'm SO annoyed they changed Misty's mane and I'm glad I'm not the only one. I loved the teal color so it was pretty jarring. It matches her cutiemark but that's all it has going for it. Sunny's mane going rainbow after the movie was bad enough, imo. But the butchered my girl Misty.
I completely get the symbolism as to why she dyed it and don’t actually mind her mane colors but yeah I do wish they kept her navy blue/teal colors
And never put the pink on her legs/chest/horn
Don’t get me started on Sunny’s mane I’m just- MMMMMMMMMM
