Gave my Cryptid AU bois a more proper ref, showing better details than the silhouetted doodles I originally drew them in.

Just playing around with concepts and having fun designing them, I do like how they turned out.

Fun Facts: - Two entities sharing same body. Differences are in their personality quirks, and Moon being the hunter and Sun can manipulate their surroundings such as moving forests paths to keep victims lost. - Their switch is purely day/night cycle and not light based. Sun can be in darkness without changing into Moon as long is daytime and vice versa. - Can't change facial expression, they emote through body language and the noises they copied. - Can scrunch down in size, and stretch out extra tall as they please. You can hear their entire body creaking when stretching out tall to look over the tree tops. - "leather like material" is skin. Is human skin. Is just decorative.

Fox News: Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp activates 1K National Guard troops ahead of anti-cop protests

Georgia Republican Governor Brian Kemp declared a state of emergency on Thursday in anticipation of violent anti-police protests in Atlanta this weekend.

The governor activated 1,000 National Guard troops and will deploy them to prevent further violence after masked protesters threw rocks, launched fireworks and burned a police vehicle in front of the Atlanta Police Foundation building last weekend.

"Georgians respect peaceful protests, but do not tolerate acts of violence against persons or property," the governor's order states.

The state of emergency will expire on Thursday, Feb. 9, unless it is renewed by the governor.

Violence erupted in Atlanta last weekend days after a police-involved shooting of an environmental activist, Manuel Esteban Paez Teran, who was protesting the construction of a new police training facility for the Atlanta Police Department, dubbed "Cop City" by its detractors.

The 26-year-old protester was shot and killed by law enforcement on Jan. 18 after he shot a Georgia state trooper during an "operation" to remove encamped activists from the construction site of the $90 million Atlanta Public Safety Training Center, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

The wounded state trooper was taken to a local hospital where he underwent surgery, authorities said.

Fox News Digital obtained six mugshots for the individuals charged with domestic terrorism, other offenses for the unrest in downtown Atlanta overnight. They are from top left to right, clockwise: Nadja Geier, 24, of Nashville, Tennessee; Madeleine Feola, 22, of Spokane, Washington; Ivan Ferguson, 23, of Nevada; Graham Evatt, 20, of Decatur, Georgia; Francis Carrol, 22, of Kennebunkport, Maine; and Emily Murphy, 37, of Grosse Isle, Michigan. Anti-police activists called for a "night of rage" last Friday in response to police-involved shooting.

Rioters damaged at least three businesses over the weekend, throwing bricks and shattering windows, Fox 5 Atlanta reported. At least two police cars were targeted and one was set on fire. Some of the individuals arrested were found with explosives, investigators said.

Six suspects, five of whom were from out-of-state, have been charged with domestic terrorism related to last weekend's riots.

They were identified as Nadja Geier, 24, of Nashville, Tennessee; Madeleine Feola, 22, of Spokane, Washington; Ivan Ferguson, 23, of Nevada; Graham Evatt, 20, of Decatur, Georgia; Francis Carrol, 22, of Kennebunkport, Maine; and Emily Murphy, 37, of Grosse Isle, Michigan.

Known by many as "Elf Giants", Leshin are the dour protectors of the ruined groves. They roam within the last remaining forests of the world; guarding the fauna within from potential hunters.

Leshin are a dying race in the Great No-Man's Land. Their homes were long destroyed and they cling to whatever still remains. Some have turned murderous, while others have become nihilistic and depressed. Yet their hope and dedication to the preservation of forest life, is what keeps this ruined world from wasting away.

Now that I’ve seen your tree post, I have to ask:

Assuming you at least know your tree species better than I do, which trees would you assign to which characters?

(No one in particular—just the ones that come to mind.)

That post has resolidified two universal constants of this blog.

One: everything is canon.

And two: you all think there are way more thoughts going on in my head than there really are.

I confess that I haven’t actually considered what trees would belong to what character/alt modes. This is much more of an aesthetic au grown from my love of Irish folklore and nature in general.

But, now that a few of you have asked what trees I would assign, I'm thinking about it

Right off the bat I think I would make Optimus a weeping willow, for no reason other than I think it's very poetic and I've always pictured a willow tree as a very protective, sheltering tree that hides secrets. And I also think that Optimus is a little bit of a sorrow-felt character (read: a lot. a lot of sorrow actually).

Megatron immediately feels like he'd be some sort of choking vine. Ivy, perhaps. Because while I did say trees in the original post I'm not going to limit myself to it. And frankly, trees aren't even a real thing. They're just a word/category we've assigned to tall, wooded plants. Palm trees, for example, are more closely related to grass than like,, an oak tree or pine tree lol.

I like the idea of all the medics being different types of medicinal plants. Cedar, birch, or oak would be a good fit.

This isn't a character per se (though more and more it feels like one to me) but I like the idea of the allspark/matrix being the mycelium network. The idea of a parasitic mushroom colony giving Optimus commanding thoughts and wicked nightmares is really compelling, and you know I'm already a sucker for the parasitic matrix head canons.

I think the idea of them being protectors of the forest (cybertron) would be really cool #feels thematic feels like it would work

I just keep thinking back on @DnDAlley (which I highly recommend checking out!) and their translation of Halsin (Halsyyin)'s name based in their own DnD lexicon being "favoured by the wild"

And in thinking in that thread, keeping in mind that elves choose their own adult names, Halsin was the only one who could see Thaniel - nature literally chose him to reveal itself to, his relationship with it was so intertwined with his being. Not only was he its friend, he became its protector. He sees this, obviously, as a great honour. So much so that he named himself after it.
