Part 2 | The Book Drive Him CRAZY | Murchison Murders
As we continue the story of what took place in Murchison Australia in the early 1900's, we learn that a grisly discovery is made. As all the clues and the little evidence begin to fall into place, a book that is in the works appears to play a pivotal role. The book was based on fiction but maybe it inspired a criminal. So, let's watch the entire video and learn about the true crime story Part 2 | The Book Drive Him CRAZY | Murchison Murders.
In this video, we explore the mysterious disappearance of three men and the chilling events that unfolded thereafter. If you haven't caught up with Part One yet, don't worry - just click on the card displayed on the screen or find the link in the description above to get up to speed. Trust me, it's worth it.
As we pick up where we left off, the narrative intensifies with the discovery of crucial evidence, a ring with a unique history that leads investigators to a man named Snowy Rowles. This enigmatic figure, formerly known as John Thomas Smith, had a shady past involving a daring escape from prison. The plot thickens as connections between Snowy and the missing men emerge, painting a sinister picture of betrayal and deceit.
The investigation takes a compelling turn when it's revealed that Snowy had been present during a fateful gathering at the station, where discussions about the perfect murder for an author's book unwittingly provided him with inspiration for his own nefarious deeds. With mounting evidence pointing towards Snowy's guilt, Detective Sergeant Manning is determined to bring him to justice, ultimately leading to a riveting trial and a verdict that sends shivers down the spine.
As the story unravels, we're left to ponder the chilling reality of how seemingly ordinary encounters can mask sinister intentions. The conclusion leaves us with more questions than answers, reminding us that truth can often be stranger than fiction. So, buckle up for a rollercoaster ride of suspense and intrigue as we navigate through the twists and turns of this captivating tale.

Feeling conflicted about the cyberpunk thingy impulse is going for because like yeah it’s a great theme and I like the aesthetics a lot but what I really like most about cyberpunk is the themes of corporate alienation and/or transhumanism etc etc which I know will not be addressed at all and in fact it’s kind of stupid of me to expect that at all from a minecraft series. Does anyone else get that or just me

What is your comic page process?
I mostly go through all stages of grief, but a very quick rundown is
I get plagued by a vision
thumbnails, or layout from the get-go if I already have everything clear in my mind (I still tweak stuff during the layout stage)
actual sketch & adding text, if there's any, to take into account the space that it occupies and how that affects the composition of the panel it is in & the page as a whole; I usually tweak around the dialogue or the balloons as I go along the process anyway
lineart (also adjusting the baloons and text)
colors (still adjusting the lettering)
sometimes I go straight to step 2 if the scene I want to draw is crystal clear in my mind, like I did for my little mermaid retelling or the kaito zine!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
when things are more 'tentative' or i feel like I need a first concrete visual before moving along, I do very rough thumbnails, which is smth that happened with my pjsekai knight au comic
Tumblr media
(I acc posted the timelapse for the last page of that comic on my channel so, if you want to watch it it's here :])
and that's pretty much it!!! If the comic is long, I also write out a script, but I never had to do it for a fancomic (or in english) so i have no examples to show

Cass + ballet 🩰 (ft. supportive siblings and good dad Bruce)
I love the idea of Cass enjoying dance. It's an outlet that allows her to express herself without words, and I think she would enjoy the highly technical aspect of ballet combined with its storytelling and emotional side. and as a former dancer I always have fun imagining my fav characters do ballet :)

yeah I know this piece of media has a ton of themes and motifs but like. is it entertaining and coherent ? because if it fails to be engaging or coherent I cant actually consider it the triumph you say it is, but, well. I AM on the themes and motifs website, so please start writing my obituary

it’s kinda funny that in the final boss fight with Kale in Hi-Fi RUSH, he puts a barrier between Chai (and 808) and the rest of the party - typical final boss move of isolating the main character for the fight - but then when you get into the fight, you can still call on them to assist regardless
because the assists are them teleporting in and out using temporal distortion tech Peppermint developed, using 808 as an anchor, so Kale had no way of planning against that, making it completely pointless to separate them

Oh my love I don’t need to talk shit about byler when you see how many horny girls go insane for it you realise it’s not about rep but girls obsessing over males
idk i think this is such a weird take even though i do agree fetishization within fandoms is an issue that should be discussed and i also think this take does not apply to most bylers. i didn’t start shipping byler until season 4 aired. i’ve been watching the season since like the week season 1 aired. i truly think most of us ship mike and will because the context is showing an obvious deeper connection between these two characters. i cannot speak for everyone’s reasoning as to why they ship byler, but i can speak for mine and 1) i care about queer rep as a queer person, 2) i personally find the build up and symbolism of mike and will’s love to be beautiful, and 3) i love stranger things and i’ve decided to analyze the media i’m consuming the way i want to and it just so happens that it led to shipping byler.
not sure why i’m wasting time answering this ask, especially since it’s from months ago, but i feel like i want to extinguish this kind of thinking in regards to why i and most other fans ship byler.

i love that the episode about secrets comes immediately after the episode about fear. because if dean's fear is of losing his family and being alone, then this scene carries incredible meaning for him.
because secrets keep people apart. they're a rift in a relationship, a gap that can't be crossed. that gap leaves an uncertainty in the relationship, a lack of trust, a space separating two people. if dean is afraid of being apart from his family, then secrets are a threat to his security.
and to that end, dean's shock at the notion that sam hasn't told dean everything implies that this isn't a normal occurrence for them, that it's typical for sam, at least, to be open and honest with dean. if that's the case, then sam's college excursion has changed his attitude toward his brother, put some distance between them that dean clearly doesn't like and, based on the scene and what is later revealed about his character, has a hard time coping with.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
this is the first time dean really makes an attempt to exert control over sam. he puts his foot down and tries to take the reins, and importantly this happens immediately after the security of his relationship with sam is threatened (or at least, he perceives it to be that way). this becomes a recurring theme throughout the series, so these early signs of this behavior pattern become retroactively strengthened through hindsight.
it's an interesting follow-up to phantom traveler, because now that seeds of doubt and conflict have been planted in dean's mind, his sense of security is breaking down and his fears are growing. sam is trying to put himself in harm's way, which could kill him: dean could lose sam in a very physical way. sam is keeping secrets from him, which is keeping them emotionally distant: dean could lose sam in an interpersonal way. his fear of losing his brother is being dangled twofold in front of him, and the threat of losing his dad is looming over them in the background.
the ground is crumbling under dean, and so he reacts the only way he knows how: by trying to take control of the situation, to protect his family and keep them by his side.

“You have done the highest honor of the Creed: Saving a foundling.”
I take umbrage with this statement in the larger context of the show this season because Mando still has yet to have what I think is a pretty significant conversation with the Armorer concerning why he removed his helmet in the first place since that ⬆️ was precisely why he did it
This season has largely brushed past one of Din’s biggest internal conflicts by never showing the audience how he feels as an exiled member beyond him asking how he can atone, not discussing with the Armorer why the transgression was done or in what context— which they apparently didn’t have to address because hey, look, the kid’s back with him again, oh also we’re not going to talk about that despite the Armorer telling him to take the kid back to his own kind in season 1— making it barely an inconvenience to ‘redeem’ himself in the end anyway, and by overshadowing his ritual redemption by knocking him out when he goes into the waters and having him sink to the bottom, having to be saved by Bo-Katan (when we still don’t know why she saved him at all), AND by having his return to the covert and Armorer be overshadowed by Bo-Katan’s out of place induction into the covert.
If they want to credit Bo-Katan with ‘saving’ the Mando kid because she headed up the hunting party even though Din was the one to actually grab the kid in the end, fine, whatever, but it is also the most overt way to again show that everything of value that Din has done this season has still been pushed to the side in favor of showcasing Bo-Katan
Unless they’re leading up to Din having some ego issue regarding Bo-Katan’s popularity and place within the covert because of how much he’s being shoved aside (which is entirely out of character for him), I’m not sure why they aren’t making him and his character more of the focus of the season. We’re not getting anything from him regarding his feelings or direction in terms of the bigger picture, which is why all of the episodes feel like filler— They’re achieving plot points like a checklist instead of showing us how Din feels about anything by not tying the emotional stakes to the physical ones. There’s no tension or narrative weight to any of these actions. His dialogue regarding the Creed, his redemption, and teaching and bonding with the kid (his character’s two main focuses) has been factual and exposition-y without feeling like his story is being told.

i do love assassin’s creed 3 but GOSH i wish it didn’t rob us of some story points...
like i know we see connor reading haytham’s journal at the beginning, but i wish we’d gotten MORE of a reaction out of him when he realized the head Templar was his father.
Likewise I know Haytham was able to put things together and figure out Connor was his son before they properly speak for the first time, but like...I wish we’d seen that realization.  I wish we’d seen how Haytham initially reacted to that.  How Haytham’s goonies reacted.
They give us this juicy juicy central conflict of Connor fighting against his own father and then they don’t...give us these moments.  And it’s frustrating because i LOVE Connor.  He’s one of my favorite assassins.  But he’s got this Shakespearean level conflict going on and the game doesn’t dig into it the way it should.

While I love the whole "kind individual and traumatized individual" relationship dynamic I do admit I have my problems with it, but that's mostly with how people write the characters, not the trope itself.
My problem with it is that the "ball of sunshine", as said character is often referred to, seemingly only exists to revolve around and be the salvation of the other character. Most of the time, we know little about their life outside of their relationship with the other person, and that annoys me to no end. Why? Because it strips away all possible nuance and depth that character could have had and gives it to the other character, dumbing them down into an often goofy, sometimes even naive individual only there for the sake of an entertaining relationship dynamic.
And this is coming from someone who does like the trope; I think it can be profound and beautiful when written correctly, but so many people hand all the great characterization over to only one character while almost entirely leaving out the other and it doesn't have to be that way. Let them both be great characters both together and on their own!

okay i just marathoned the entirety of ATLA live action & i might do an actual review of it explaining my thoughts more in depth, but the TLDR version basically boils down to this:
if you want to watch Avatar: The Last Airbender, just go watch the 2005 cartoon
#i was trying to keep an open mind & all that cuz of OPLA (my beloved) but. holy shit it was actually worse than i expected :/#like what were they thinking. did they use AI to write this or are the writers just like. really shitty#notes: they linger too much on random bullshit & refuse to move character development along#they tell when they should be showing & when they DO show it's for stuff that benefited from brief environmental storytelling in the OG#the plot drags so hard it was basically stagnant#there were some fun things but like. those things could've been funner if they'd been given the time other useless stuff was taking up#they changed so many minor details that really don't matter in order to make them more important#but this failed spectacularly because now there's just. stupid bullshit clogging up the plot??#instead of having 10 minute monologues 3 times an episode about plot irrelevant things#they should have taken a page out of the original's book & kept minor details to a minimum & focused on ACTUAL PLOT#SO MUCH CGI. LIKE I KNOW THEY NEED IT BUT COME ON. EVEN THE CHARACTERS?????? WHO ARE JUST STANDING THERE????????#they were given 8 hours & almost all of it was Aang angsting (lol) over being the avatar & not practicing actual bending#& then they ended the plot too early so they had to fill in the last like 20 minutes with something else#so they made up random lore that literally makes no sense. & overexplained all of it to the point i was blanking out from boredom#i think this is why i didn't enjoy Korra. they over explain the spirit world stuff & avatar powers & bending#that plus i just don't vibe with the aesthetic#being a writer is a curse because when i dislike something it's because i know exactly what went wrong & why#it's always with the analyzing & the judging & the internal note taking#even when i really try i can't just enjoy shit for fun

How fans of different fictional worlds react to these worlds' existence:
Middle Earth: I'd love to spend an evening in the Bag End with hobbits and elves as Gandalf prepares for his fireworks. ✨💫
Narnia: Strolling in the woods amid the murmurs of the giant trees, waiting for Lucy, Edmund, Peter, Susan, and Aslan to show up will heal my soul. 💐🥀
Wizarding World: I can't wait to get my letter to Hogwarts.
Naruto World: I support Sasuke's revolution. Fuck Konoha. Do you want us to be international criminals in order to help you change the system? I'M IN.

To be completely frank, we're in an era of functionally illiterate pearl clutching fear mongering moral discourse on the right AND LEFT in literature that's significantly worse than the victorians. Some of you would die if you read a penny dreadful. Which are silly and tame in the historical spectrum of gothic literature. You are functionally ultra, ultra conservative if you open a piece of modern gothic horror and are shocked to find a basic, traditional gothic horror trope in it. Some of y'all are walking around unironically using the word "degeneracy" exactly as it was used by the nazis. How tf did your middle and high school english and history teachers fail so many of you this badly.
