'Following the events of the new Netflix limited series Ripley, the enigmatic con artist went on to continue his sinister career as a professional scammer. The psychological thriller is based on the renowned 1955 novel The Talented Mr. Ripley by celebrated novelist Patricia Highsmith, the first of her 5-part "Ripley" book series that also includes Ripley Under Ground and Ripley's Game. The Talented Mr. Ripley has been adapted several times for film and television, but none have been shot completely in monochrome until Steven Zallian's Ripley. Zallian, the Academy Award-winning screenwriter of Schindler's List, American Gangster, and The Irishman, wrote and directed the entire 8-episode miniseries.
Tom Ripley, who uses several different aliases and also acquires many places of residence throughout Ripley, is a master of disguise and deceit. He is drawn to murder once his true identity of being an elaborate con man faces the threat of being exposed. Tom has conned his way from a lowly life of scamming and thievery in New York City to becoming incredibly wealthy in Italy thanks to a supposed old friend, Dickie Greenleaf (Johnny Flynn). Ripley's cast is led by an exceptionally chilling Andrew Scott (Fleabag, Black Mirror, All of Us Strangers) as the titular treacherous protagonist. By the end of Zallian's Ripley, Tom has orchestrated a way to frame his murder of Dickie Greenleaf as a suicide by successfully convincing Dickie's concerned girlfriend Marge Sherwood (Dakota Fanning) and a determined Inspector Ravini (Maurizio Lombardi).
Ripley has received rave reviews from critics upon its April 4, 2024 release exclusively on Netflix. Ripley brings to light the lengths that monsters like Tom will go to in the name of self-preservation, using chilling methodology and calculation to be seen as significant by means of material wealth and social access. Even after Tom escapes to England in the final moments of Ripley, he does not seem satisfied, only aware of what it feels like to wear Dickie's clothes, flaunt Dickie's ring, and stare at Dickie's artwork while ultimately feeling nothing at all. Ripley is a chilling first entry of a magnificent book series by Highsmith, which continues with Tom living a new life in France six years after the events of The Talented Mr. Ripley.
10. Tom Lives A Lavish Life With His Heiress Wife In France
In Ripley Book 2: Ripley Under Ground
Ripley Book 2, titled Ripley Under Ground, which was published in 1970, some fifteen years after The Talented Mr. Ripley. The book takes place in the summer of 1968, which is about the time that it would have been written by Highsmith. Tom has settled down in France in Ripley Under Ground and is married to a prominent French heiress named Héloïse Plisson, who has suspicions about how Tom acquired his money but never pries too deeply. In some ways, Héloïse is a combination of Dickie and Marge from The Talented Mr. Ripley, with Dickie's casual attitude as well as Marge's underlying suspicions towards Tom.
9. Tom Establishes An Art Forgery Scheme After Painter's Death
In Ripley Book 2: Ripley Under Ground
Tom's big scam in Ripley Under Ground involves a massive art forgery operation. He became a silent partner of an organization known as Derwatt Ltd., which sells official works of the celebrated painter Philip Derwatt. Derwatt, however, is reported missing and has been presumed to be dead for years, although the general public is unaware of this. As a result, Tom enlists another painter named Bernard Tufts to impersonate Derwatt and paint original works on his behalf. Tom's corrupt operation is flawless until an American collector named Thomas Murchison claims one of the paintings to be fraudulent.
8. Tom Has An Accomplice To Murder In Book 2
In Ripley Book 2: Ripley Under Ground
Bernard Tufts, who feels incredibly guilty for his role in Tom's art forgery scheme, eventually becomes Tom's accomplice to the murder of the American art collector. After Tom kills Murchison, he enlists the help of Bernard to dispose of the body. This only worsens Barnard's guilty conscience, who is contemplating coming clean about the whole ordeal to the police. While Bernard is a terrible accomplice to Tom in the murder of Murchison in Ripley Under Ground, it's the first time in the book series where Tom enlists the help of another person after committing a murder.
7. Reeves Minot Asks Tom To Commit Murder
In Ripley Book 3: Ripley's Game
Ripley Book 3 titled Ripley's Game was published in 1974. It was adapted into a feature film that starred John Malkovich as Tom Ripley. Reeves Minot, who Malkovich plays in Netflix's Ripley, appears in both Ripley Under Water and Ripley’s Game, but has a very suspicious request for Tom in the third Ripley book. Reeves Minot, who is a known high collar criminal in the United States, asks Tom to be a hitman at the start of Ripley's Game. Tom, still living lavishly in France with his wife Héloïse, refuses and tries to find Minot a suitable replacement for that type of job.
6. Tom Assists In The Assassination of A Mafioso
In Ripley Book 3: Ripley's Game
After Tom finds the right man for the job, a poor man named Jonathan Trevanny who is dying from leukemia, he appears to be out of the operation altogether. Trevanny successfully completes one hit for Minot, which inspires Minot to get him to agree to another hit on a Mafia boss. The plan is tragic as the terminally ill Trevanny is meant to kill the mafioso and then take his own life immediately after, since there will be little chance of escape. Tom intervenes and kills the mafioso for Trevanny and makes him promise not to tell Minot that he assisted in the assassination.
5. Tom's Life Is Saved By An Accomplice Named Trevanny
In Ripley Book 3: Ripley's Game
Tom's life is later saved by Trevanny once news gets out about his involvement on the assassination of the aforementioned mafioso. As mafia hitmen are just about to kill Tom, Trevanny acts as a human shield and saves Tom's life. Overall, Ripley's Game is much different from The Talented Mr. Ripley in that Tom has much more of a heart and a moral compass than he does in Highsmith's first Ripley novel. Tom surprisingly also does not have a big new scam like he had in the previous two novels, which is an indication of the tonal shifts that are to come for his character later in the series.
4. Tom Helps A Young American Fugitive Named Frank
In Ripley Book 4: The Boy Who Followed Ripley
Ripley Book number four, The Boy Who Followed Ripley, is the most unlike the rest of the Ripley novels, especially The Talented Mr. Ripley. In The Boy Who Followed Ripley, which was published in 1980, Tom continues to live comfortably at his French estate and has not participated much in his old life of crime. A mysterious boy comes to visit him at his house, claiming he's from the United States and his name is Billy. Tom discovers that Billy is actually Frank Pierson, the son of an American business tycoon. Frank eventually confesses that he killed his father by pushing him off a cliff and came to Tom because he thought he would be able to help him based on his questionable reputation.
3. Tom Plays More Of A Hero Role In Ripley Book 4
In Ripley Book 4: The Boy Who Followed Ripley
The Boy Who Followed Ripley is so much unlike the original The Talented Mr. Ripley novel in the way that Tom is acting like a responsible, but still shady, father figure for the first time in the series. It's unclear why Highsmith decided to switch up the tone of her Ripley series so drastically with The Boy Who Followed Ripley, but it does align with the overall sense of growth that Tom was beginning to demonstrate in Ripley's Game. It appears that after all in The Boy Who Followed Ripley, Tom does have a decent heart, which is stunning to consider after watching Netflix's Ripley. At one point in the book, Tom even dresses in drag in order to rescue Frank after he's been kidnapped.
2. Tom Is Accused Of Murdering Dickie Greenleaf & Thomas Murchison
In Ripley Book 5: Ripley Under Water
Tom's ghosts come back to haunt him in the final Ripley book, Ripley Under Water. The title is a notable reference to Tom's fear of water that he demonstrated in The Talented Mr. Ripley. Ripley Under Water was published in 1991 and sees Tom living a completely normal, quaint life still in France where he tends to his garden daily. Tom is confronted by an American named David Pritchard who is convinced that Tom murdered the art collector Thomas Murchison, which took place in Ripley's Game. David also starts to ask Tom questions about Dickie, bringing back Tom's very first murder in the original book. Tom must find ways to deflect Pritchard's accusations but does not resort to killing him, proving that Tom's life of murder could in fact be over by the end of the book series.
1. Tom Never Gets Caught For Any Of His Crimes
In Ripley Book 5: Ripley Under Water
Despite the effects of David Pritchard in Ripley Under Water, Tom Ripley gets away with it once again by the end of the fifth and final Ripley book. Shockingly, Pritchard does somehow discover Murchison's body and goes so far as to leave his skeleton on Tom's doorstep. Tom hides the body once again and leaves it in the pond outside the Pritchard family's home, which leads to another tragedy and indirect murder on Tom's behalf. Tom's blood-soaked hands never come clean in any of Highsmith's five Ripley books, cementing his status as one of the best literary con artists ever created. While there's no current indication that Ripley season 2 will be made at Netflix, there is certainly plenty of source material to work with.'

Murder suspect seen with tiger in west Houston arrested on evading charges HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Authorities have arrested the man who was seen taking in a tiger that was spotted roaming loose in a Houston neighborhood on Sunday. That tiger has yet to be located. Multiple police sources identified the man as 28-year-old Victor Cuevas. Cuevas, who is currently out on bond on an unrelated murder charge, is known to possess several exotic animals. The search for Cuevas began Sunday after he evaded police. But on Monday, he was taken into custody to the Fort Bend County jail. He was supposed to turn himself in at 8:15 p.m. at the Harris County jail. Instead, Cuevas’ lawyer said Houston police picked him up at his mother’s house in Richmond and took him to the Fort Bend County jail. UPDATE #2: Victor Hugo Cuevas is in custody. The whereabouts of the tiger are not yet known. Anyone with information on the tiger is urged to contact HPD Major Offenders at 713-308-3100.#hounews https://t.co/TkaAtK45MC — Houston Police (@houstonpolice) May 11, 2021 Cuevas is charged with felony evading arrest after allegedly fleeing from HPD Monday. Cuevas’ lawyer, Michael Elliott, was furious as he talked to the media Monday night. “Fifteen minutes before he leaves to surrender, (HPD) go and arrest him, and the result is they get to keep him there for 10 days now,” said Elliott. Elliott said the tiger is not his client’s but that he knows the owner. He added that he and his client were apparently working with authorities to locate the tiger and the owner. WATCH: ‘It’s not his tiger’ Attorney of alleged tiger owner says “There’s a lot of misunderstandings and miscommunications and a lot of things put out there falsely that’s very troubling,” Elliott said. “First off, The Houston Police Department here. I know they’re trying to do their job. Everyone wants to know about the tiger and their safety. Make no mistake, there’s no crime of having a tiger in the state of Texas.” In the City of Houston, there is an ordinance that says you can’t have a tiger. But, as Elliott points out, it is a civil matter, not a criminal matter. On Sunday, Houston police responded to a call about a tiger in a neighbor’s front yard on Ivy Wall Drive, in the Highway 6 and Memorial area. When officers arrived, the alleged owner was loading up the tiger in his Jeep. “The owner put the tiger in a white SUV and drove off from the scene, there was a brief pursuit, and the man got away with the tiger,” said HPD Commander Ron Borza, who focuses on animal abuse cases for the department. “My main concern right now is focused on finding him, and finding the tiger, because what I don’t want him to do is harm the tiger. We have plenty of places where we can take the tiger and he can spend the rest of his life.” Video of the incident shows off-duty Waller County Sheriff’s Sergeant Wes Manion coming to the aid of his neighbors, and trying to keep the tiger at bay. Moments later, a man in a white shirt emerges from his house and grabs the tiger by what appears to be a collar. “An individual came out and said, ‘Don’t kill it, don’t kill it,'” recalled Manion, who also lives in the area. “I didn’t know who this individual was, told him to get in the house. He stated that was his tiger, and I instructed him to take his tiger back inside, which he did.” HPD believes the man in the white shirt was Cuevas, who later put the tiger in his white Jeep Cherokee and fled from the home at a high rate of speed. Our Animal Cruelty Unit, along with @BARC_Houston are currently investigating the incident in which a tiger was seen at 1103 Ivy Wall Drive about 8 p.m. on Sunday (May 9). The male owner was seen escorting the tiger to the residence then putting it into his vehicle. 1/3 — Houston Police (@houstonpolice) May 10, 2021 Monday morning, both HPD’s Animal Cruelty Unit and Houston’s Bureau of Animal Regulation and Care (BARC) were investigating the incident. A sweep of the house yielded no additional animals. However, ABC13 reviewed multiple Instagram videos and pictures on Cuevas’ account which indicated he is no stranger to exotic animals. The videos show him playing with a baby bear, feeding it with a bottle, and giving the bear kisses in his home. There are also videos of at least two monkeys. Cuevas is seen taking one monkey with him while he was having dental work done, and taking another monkey to a convenience store, where the clerk was not pleased. In addition, several videos show Cuevas cuddling with a young tiger. Police say even though it is against city regulation to keep a tiger, this particular tiger does appear well fed. WATCH: HPD reveals the tiger’s owner has been out on bond in a murder case The murder charge tied to Cuevas involves an alleged shooting at a strip shopping center in Fort Bend County. According to records, Cuevas is accused of shooting and killing a man in July 2017 and is out on a $125,000 bond. ABC13 spoke with Cuevas’ attorney on the matter. He said his client is up to date on all court appearances as it relates to the murder charge. Meanwhile, back in the west Houston neighborhood, Cuevas and his girlfriend are described as living a quiet, fairly secluded life. “They didn’t bother anybody,” neighbor Jorge Ramos said. “They are very private, I have to say.” He said this is not the first time he’s seen a wild animal at the residence. WATCH: Neighbor once saw monkey at home where tiger was seen roaming “I did notice one time, and this is something interesting, that I was walking by my driveway. There was a capuchin monkey that showed up in the window,” Ramos recalled. “I figured, ‘OK, this is a small animal. It could be domesticated.’ But I never thought they would hold a tiger in their house.” Previous wild encounters in Houston While Houston for the most part may be a sprawling cosmopolitan city, we’ve had our fair share of tiger instances. In May 2019, a tiger was found caged in a southwest Houston garage. Houston police arrested the former owner, Brittany Garza, who at the time faced animal cruelty charges. She told ABC13 at the time that she had raised the tiger, whom she called “Rajah,” since he was a cub. But once Rajah started getting big, she knew it was time to find him a new place to live. Garza claimed two years ago that she had made arrangements with a sanctuary in College Station and put the animal inside a friend’s home until the transfer could be made. But someone else found the tiger in the garage before he could be moved. The tiger was eventually taken to Cleveland Amory Black Beauty Ranch in Murchison, Texas, where he is said to be living the rest of his life. FROM MAY 2019: Tiger owner arrested for leaving wild cat caged at vacant Houston house Can you even own exotic animals in Texas or Houston city limits? We looked at this back in 2019 as well and found that, in Texas, owners of “dangerous wild animals” must register with their municipality or county animal office or sheriff. A dangerous animal includes a lion, tiger, ocelot, cougar, leopard, cheetah, jaguar, bobcat, lynx, serval, caracal, hyena, bear, coyote, jackal, baboon, chimpanzee, orangutan and gorilla. SEE ALSO: How did a cow end up on the East Freeway? However, municipalities can also ban ownership of these animals. And for anyone hoping to own a dangerous wild animal in Houston city limits, no can do. It is illegal. Violations are misdemeanors punishable by fines of $500 to $2,000. Environmental journal
Hello everyone,
My name is Collins Amutuhaire, am a  Ugandan student studying at the university of Manitoba and welcome to my environmental science 2000 blog. In this blog I will be answering some of the questions about the environment. So please feel free to read through.
The 1st subject that am going to talk about is based on the document. “Honouring the Truth, Reconciling for the Future - Summary of the Final Report of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada.”
How does Truth and Reconciliation in Canada relate to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals?
First, I would like to sympathise with all the people of the 1st nation of all the bad things that they went through during the time of colonialism. As a young international youth, I feel their pain and feel proud and privileged that those days are behind us. From the feeling I got from reading this article and all the stories I have heard about colonialism, I understand the difficulty face by those that experience all the abuse and torture.
Truth and reconciliation commission of Canada (TRC) was set to expose all the horrors and sufferings of the indigenous people through Truth and to establishing and maintaining a mutually respectful relationship between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal peoples in this country through Reconciliation.
There are 17 goals UN goals of sustainable development and these were created for all countries and we must come together to achieve these goals. It doesn’t matter where you live or who you are, which race, tribe, or culture you belong to. These goals are: No poverty; Zero Hunger; Good Health and Well-Being; Quality Education; Gender Equality; Clean water and sanitation; Affordable clean energy; Decent work and economic growth; Industry, innovation and infrastructure; Reduced inequalities; Sustainable cities and communities; Responsible consumption and production; Climate action; Life below water; Life on land; Peace, justice and strong institutions; and Partnerships for the goals.
Goal 1: No Poverty; During colonialism, the Canadian government divest itself of its legal and financial obligations of the Aboriginal people and gained control over their land and resources. This forced the aboriginal people into poverty that the majority still live poverty since.
Goal 2:  Zero Hunger; Goal 3: Good health and well-being; indigenous children almost died of starvation while living in residential schools that where all were fed very poorly, hence, not receiving the daily nutrition they need. The aboriginal people depended on wildlife for daily nutrition, food and clothing, but, wildlife has been scarce.
Goal 4: Quality education; the indigenous children that were taken from their parents to residential schools lived in poor conditions with buildings that were poorly located, poorly built, and poorly maintained. Limited staff, often poorly trained, and not adequately supervised. Many schools were poorly heated and poorly ventilated, and the diet was meagre and of poor quality endangering the well-being of the aboriginal people. Since the indigenous people were forced into poverty during the time of colonialism, most cant afford the demands of a quality education in the new Canadian education system.
Goal 5: Gender Equality; Aboriginal women, who had held significant influence and powerful roles in many First Nations, including the Mohawks, the Carrier, and Tlingit were disempowered within the process of Canada giving bad council that it could control and force to follow their objectives. Furthermore, there has been an inquiry of missing and murdered indigenous women.
Goal 6: Clean water and Sanitation; The indigenous children that lived in residential schools were not provided clean water for drinking and lived in buildings that were poorly maintained and poorly ventilated thus living in a poorly sanitised environment.
Goal 7: Affordable and Clean Energy; the aboriginal people used fire as their source of energy for cooking and as a source of light. But, since the Canadian government forced them to adapt the cultures of white men, electricity became their source of energy where the bills are too expensive for them to pay.
Goal 8: Decent work and economic growth; and Goal 11: (Sustainable Cities and Communities); the Canadian government denied aboriginal peoples to participate in political, economic, and social life because they refused to get rid of their aboriginal identity.
Goal 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure; The residential schools were poorly built, and the aboriginal people were considered as savages because they could not adopt the European culture. Apart from the residential schools, some of the infrastructures that were built could only be accessed by the Europeans and they created a white paper pass policy for the aboriginal people.
Goal 10: Reduce inequalities; the indigenous people were treated as servants and because of there culture and ways of life, they were unequal European believed that European civilization and Christian religions were superior to Aboriginal culture, which was being savage and brutal.
Goal 12: Responsible consumption and production; Canada forced First Nations to relocate their reserves from agriculturally valuable or resource-rich land onto remote and economically marginal reserves that reduced their consumption and crop production.
Goal 13: Climate Action; Goal 14: Life below water; Goal 15: Life on land; the indigenous people lived a simple life before being invaded by the Europeans, they used simple methods of fishing and irrigation that preserved the water systems, lived in simple shelters like caves that did not require deforestation to build houses and sky scraper and industries that has destroyed the climate through fossil fuels.
Goal 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions; Because of the hard life lived in residential schools, abuse, rape and hard labour by the indigenous people, they are still living in pain and are demanding justice. The aboriginal people are demand free health care and education because of the suffering that the experienced in these institutions.
Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals: The Canadian government is demanding for reconciliation between the aboriginal and non-aboriginal people. Its calling out the aboriginal people to forget and forgive of the horrors that were done to them and create a better Canada for all both Canadians and non-Canadians through the promotion of goals of sustainable development.

 Part 2.
1). How did the information presented in the talks above affect how you think about nature?
I have always loved nature as a whole because of my life experience back home in my beautiful country Uganda which is known as “The pearl of Africa”, because of its beautiful grasslands, forestry, lakes and annual climatic conditions. Uganda lies along the equator and because of this, there little year-round fluctuation in temperature and no real winter or summer. It’s a beautiful place to live and of course because it’s a developing country, deforestation was rampant affecting the nature of the country in the last 10 years. Am glad that in the last 5 years, re-afforestation has been practiced in all regions of the country and if its continued to be practiced, my beloved country will not only be the Pearl of Africa, but the pearl of the whole world.

I didn’t know that trees communicate at this level. They make nature to be a beautiful thing that we must cherish and preserve. They are a big connection to biodiversity that we must work together to preserve. Everything is connected in the ecosystem and we must preserve those connections, every species plays a big role in the ecosystem that no matter how small it is, it must be preserved.
2). What aspects of nature and biodiversity do you feel are most important to protect? How can you take action to protect this aspect?
Its very hard to pick one aspect of nature to protect over the other because in the ecosystem, everything is connected, and every living organism has an important role to play. But there is something that resonates with me and that is forestry and vegetation. As I mentioned before, my country is a pearl of Africa because of it beautiful vegetation and forestry.  They play a big role in the ecosystem as a home for a variety of different species, a source of food for those species, play a part in rain formation to increase on the water in lakes and rivers providing homes for aquatic species.

When I was growing up; during my holidays, I used to travel to the village and spend time there because it was so beautiful there. The community is less populated, extended farmlands, many rivers and the air is so fresh especially in the mornings which was the time to take the cattle to the farms. While at the farm, me and my friend use to walk around in the forest to collect fruits, go fishing in the nearby rivers and my favourite was swimming in the rivers during the hot days. I haven’t been in my village for a long time recently I was chatting with my brother who visited, and I asked him if the river that we used to fish, and swim is still there. He told me that it narrowed, and I asked myself why. It was because of the deforestation of the surrounding forest and I must act through re-afforestation. Encourage the community to grow more trees and stop overgrazing and stop other practices that are destroying the nature of that community that I loved and used to know. Because its happening in the community that I used to live in, I believe that it must be happening in other parts of the country I believe that a change of my community will inspire other communities to do the same and preserve nature.

 3.
#1. Describe where and when you spent your time in nature.
Well, I must admit that lately its been very hard to experience the nature in Winnipeg because its winter and its been very cold. But during the summer, I spend most of my time outside because I grew up in a beautiful environment and its Winnipeg, so everyone knows that you must enjoy the summer because Winnipeg winter is no jock. I spend time at king’s park where I play soccer and take early morning jogs, Alex’s bridge where I play soccer with my friend Matt.

#2. What did you experience in your time in nature? What did you see, hear, smell, feel? What effect did this time in nature have on you?
Am a soccer player playing for “Fc. Sweat shacks” and volunteer at an academy called “Soccer’s Best”, that helps Winnipeg high school graduates in the programme acquire scholarships in the states. Because of this, I spend most of my time outside in the summer. I train and play games outdoor where I get to experience Winnipeg’s beautiful nature. I also take walks and jogs in the morning at king’s park and there is a feeling of peace, tranquillity and it always takes me back to me being a child, going on hikes back home. Especially during the early mornings where you stand in the middle of the park or field and listen to the birds singing while breathing in the fresh air.  Which gives you the urge to try and protect the environment. It’s an amazing and overwhelming feeling.

4. The fourth and last part of it, is to answer some questions given in class by the professor, there are three sections, so here it comes:
 Human Environment Connections
1a. What promotes human connection to nature?
In this 21st century, the majority of the youth and adults spend their time indoors playing video games and watching television thus limiting their experience of the beautiful nature. As of 2009, 93% of teens and 77% of adults were online, according to a Pew Internet Project Report.
Nature is everywhere, but to build that connection that gives you a feeling that cant be described with words, we must build a connection with it. For those that grow up in cities, must travel (get out of the house) and spend more time with nature and appreciating its beauty with its benefits, and everything that comes with it. As I mentioned before, I love to be outdoors because I spent most of my childhood in the farm. When you’re a kid, you’re curious about everything, you want to explore, you want to feel, you want to see and growing up in nature build a big connection. But because nature provides many human resources, it is impacted upon by human activities that are affecting the environment.
1b. What promotes disconnection from nature?
When we fail to spend more time in nature, we fail to appreciate all the things that comes with it. We disconnect from it and then we engage in human activities such as deforestation, overgrazing, industrialisation, over fishing etc promotes a disconnection from nature. All these human activities have impacted nature in a big way. Through fossil fuels affecting the greenhouse gasses have resulted into natural disasters like the wild fires, hurricanes, drought and famine that affecting our mother nature. As a result, we had endangered our ecosystem that plays a big part in our existence.
1c. Is there a danger to a growing disconnect from nature?
Absolutely!! There big danger that comes with the disconnection from nature. As I mentioned above, when we disconnect from nature, you become ignorant of the good that comes with nature and this forces us to engage in the many human activities like deforestation that are a danger to our mother nature. Also, because of these human practices, we destroy the biodiversity of the living organisms thus destroying the ecosystem.
 WORLDVIEWS
2. Where do your environmental ethics lie? Anthropocentric? Biocentric? Ecocentric?
My environmental ethics lies more with the Ecocentric. I love nature and I believe in the values of nature, the right that nature must not be troubled by human activity and the endangered species or landscapes should remain undisturbed. It is important to protect the environment because we and other living organisms depend on it and the more we rob it, the more we reduce on the environmental resources thus running ourselves to extinction.
WILDSPACES
3a. Can parks meet its dual mandate of access and protection?
It’s very difficult to have full protection to areas of land that allows human access. Even walking through an area doing nothing at all can startle animals and potentially separate various animals from their young. Humans are very curious and if with full access to the parks, some animals will relocate, and some will get used to being around people. Rules should be set, and humans should have limited time to access the parks to give freedom to the animals. But its very difficult for parks to meet the dual mandate and protection because without access we cannot enjoy the nature that we live in but I think the something can be done by fencing parts where the animals have access and we humans an observe from a distance.
3b. How can this be achieved in Wapusk?
I think that this can be achieved by the government working together with the communities surrounding wapsuk park. The government should start up traditional access, should limit public access (a few number of people should be allowed to go into the park- one group after the other). There should al be part of mandate to provide access. Allowing certain specific dates for the park to be accessible. Also taking people for helicopter rides around the park will help to have panoramic view of the environment while not disrupting the wilderness. Having so many perspectives with so many interests in mind is important to making a big decision.
