frankenstein spin-off wip (now with art !)

you may have seen a post like this before last month if you follow @petricharme (which you should) , but some of my friends have been working on a frankenstein spin-off story surrounding louis manoir , famous man in our hearts mentioned one singular time in the novel ! they have created a google doc (linked below) with a summarization of the story!

*FMS stands for Forgotten Man’s Symphony, comments on the doc and reblogs are appreciated !

many things on the doc are still subject to change and the story/louis is not fully developed yet and the story is not yet in the actual writing stage. i also highly encourage checking out the other two writers on the story ! there is a FMS discord server you can join , just send petricharme an ask !

i’ve recently started making art for FMS as well! nothing too extravagant yet, mostly just character designs/explorations , but i do have some bigger pieces in mind i wanna start on when i get the chance !

the first two are of our beloved louis , and the last one an experimental sketch of his older brother , lou

and!! additionally, here's the paragraph of manoir's mention, as i think its needed. this is said by elizabeth in her letter in chapter 5 of the 1818 edition:

So I know it's a big ask, but if there's any peeps in the UK (Hampshire or Pompey would be fab) that have chronic illness/ disabilities and are struggling to find a home- could u lemme know what the sitch is, why it's difficult, recurring issues etc.

Trying to write to my MP but would be useful for other peep's examples (I won't mention ur name or anything, just enough info to get the gist of things).

I can't be the only one struggling surely?

ugh. i'm starting to really hit a limit on my physical ability to work here. the physical toll just keeps adding up. working on getting an actual, official dx of any kind is slow between my brain fog and the way that no one communicates when they say they will, even when you make it clear that you have a hard time remembering to initiate conversation.

I know going on disability is kinda a shit process, but... god. I don't know how I could handle a "real" 40 hour job if I keep being pushed to my limits this regularly.

Ich richte unseren Fokus heute auf Fibromyalgie, eine oft missverstandene Krankheit, die u. a. das Leben sehr vieler Menschen still, doch stark beeinflusst. 💔

Fibromyalgie ist eine chronische Schmerzerkrankung, die von extremer Müdigkeit, Schlafstörungen und emotionalen Höhen und Tiefen begleitet wird. 🔍 Sie betrifft hauptsächlich Muskeln, Sehnen und das Bindegewebe, wobei Schmerzen oft an verschiedenen Stellen im Körper auftreten. Betroffene erleben häufig auch Konzentrationsprobleme, den sogenannten „Fibro-Nebel. Kälte-, Nässe-, Wind-Wetter unterstützen die Schmerz negativ, Stress triggert unnötig zusätzlich Symptome der Entzündungen an. Lightning monkey AU

Part 2

How is it possible that Jay is the son of Wukong and Macaque? They will wonder.

Well, to answer this you have to go back in time.

° Jay was born from a stone egg, similar to Wukong's. How the egg was created is another matter, which I'm sure is not what some of you expected.

° The fight broke out violently between Monkey King and Macaque, both determined not to back down from the other. In that battle, the collision and clash of their powers releases too much energy, both of shadows and of light (using the analogy that they are like the Sun and the Moon), in the middle of the fight those same energies/power end up merging, allowing a new stone egg to be created.

° Neither Macaque nor Wukong notice the stone egg or its creation, too focused on their fight.

° This is where First Master Spinjitzu (FMS for short) comes in. He sees the exchange of blows between the monkeys, as he can feel the life emanating from the stone egg. The FMS sees how Wukong ends up killing Macaque, so he decides to take the egg to his world, in order to keep it safe from the possible anger that the light-haired monkey shows at the time.

° Nobody notices or suspects anything, what remains is that Wukong and Macaque have a very vague feeling that they lost something more than their friendship that day.

° Time passes, the FMS takes care of the stone egg waiting for the little being inside to hatch, while keeping it a secret from its children. Millennia pass and the stone egg shows no signs of wanting to break, but the FMS can always feel life and a small being inside the rock.

° The reason why it hasn't hatched yet is that the egg needs to be in contact, or at least be close, to its creators, which would be Wukong and Macaque. And well, they are literally in another world, so it is a bit complicated to be born soon.

°One day the FMS is neglected and an adolescent/almost adult Garmadon finds the stone egg. Garm' can feel the life and the little being inside the egg, so being curious and bewildered, he goes to his father to demand answers.

° The FMS does not hide much and does not refuse to give answers to his eldest son, on the condition that he does not tell his brother (that would be Wu).

° It is not for nothing, but I know that his youngest son is very serious about keeping secrets, and he is also a little afraid that Wu will put the stone egg under constant surveillance, he does not want that when the little being is born he will be pressured .

° Garmadon understands and promises to keep the secret. Something he can brag about if one day his brother finds out.

° Garmadon will often go and talk to the stone egg, even if he knows he won't get an answer. He sometimes talks to him to get even with his brother, sometimes to rant about anything that comes to mind and other times simply to tell him how his day was.

° The FMS is surprised in a good way, he believes that this exchange is good both for his son and for the little being inside the egg. Still, there are times when the FMS doesn't allow his eldest son to go near the egg, this only when it's obvious that Garmadon can't control himself because of the Great Devourer's venom.

° Garmadon accepts his father's precautions, he doesn't make much of a fuss about it anymore. I know what he's capable of when he's not thinking clearly, and he doesn't want to end up hurting the little being inside the rock. (You can see that Garm' would be a good father).

° Being aware of his death, the FMS takes the stone egg to hide it as best as possible, I know he should have told his eldest son (Garmadon won't be happy when he doesn't find the egg), but he reminds himself not to You can risk being found.

° he hides it Count in a hidden cave near Hiroshi's Labyrinth.

° As Wu searched for his father's grave, Garmadon searched for the location of the stone egg, he became excited at the thought that the little being inside was a younger brother in waiting.

° None found what they were looking for and Garmadon was angry and frustrated with his father for a long time. Wu only believes that his brother's attitude is due to mourning.

° The years continue to pass, finally the stone egg shows signs of opening. In those moments the current lightning master, Libber, finds the egg in the hidden cave where the FMS left it.

° To the point. Libber ends up finding the stone egg, but as he is about to pull it out to bring it to Wu, the egg shatters in a huge burst of energy that sends the lightning master crashing into the cave walls.

° The Lightning Master quickly puts herself on guard by activating her Elemental Power, only to see a small baby monkey with red fur and blue eyes hatch from the stone egg.

° Libber totally lowers her guard and practically stars are coming out of her eyes, of course that doesn't take away from how confused, shocked and quite possibly scared she is. But the little baby monkey is cute enough to put that aside for a while.

° The baby monkey fixes her eyes on her and they both have a little staring competition. That's when the little baby monkey changes shape and becomes a little human baby with red hair, blue eyes and a few freckles.

(I saw a headcanon a while back that Macaque has freckles that gave the illusion of stars on his face, again because of the Sun and Moon analogy. I stuck with that for quite some time and can now apply it here.)

(I've also seen some media where Wukong has light blue/blue eyes. Monkey King 2009. So you can't tell me the genetics aren't there.)

° Libber is stunned and speechless at what he saw in front of her. In her panicked state of not knowing what to do, she does not take the baby with Wu, as she had originally planned, but takes him to the house she shares with her husband, Cliff Gordon.

° When she arrives she tells her husband everything that happened, Cliff is not very convinced and thinks that the best thing is for Libber to take a break to relax while he takes care of the apparently newborn child. (Cliff secretly hopes his wife isn't under the influence of some variant of Venomari poison and accidentally stole someone else's child.)

• This offends the lightning master a bit, and the conversation between the two is like:

Libber: No, Cliff. I know what I saw, don't come to take me for crazy.

Cliff: I never said that.

Libber: But you thought about it!

° The scandal reaches the ears of the baby, who until now was asleep on Libber's lap. Hearing the somewhat sharp cries of the lightning teacher, the baby begins to cry, creating a small earthquake that shakes the entire house while making all the lights blink with his crying.

° After a few minutes they finally manage to calm the child down and give him some milk, they give it to him in a glass, since they don't have bottles, as carefully as possible. Cliff takes his wife's word for it now.

° Not knowing what to do or who to turn to, the couple takes the baby to Mistake's store. She recognizes the stone egg's energy markings on the baby, (being a close friend of FMS, he let her know about the egg).

° After calming the couple down, and pinching the baby's cheeks a bit, she tells them what she knows about the stone egg and gives them a little guide on how to take care of a baby. She also mentions that they shouldn't tell Wu about the child or, at least, where she came from.

° Mistake gives them some special bracelets of vegestone (stone of revenge) that the FMS prepared for the little being inside the egg. Garmadon originally kept these bracelets, Mistake may or may not have stolen them while Garm' wasn't looking.

° The FMS saw what the creators of the stone egg were capable of, the bracelets were a way that if the little one inherited any of those powers, he would not end up destroying the entire monastery.

° The couple thanks Mistake and leaves. After much debate and considering that they shouldn't tell Wu (not many trust him with these things right?), they both end up keeping the baby they name Jay.

° The bracelets are good, but they make Jay unable to use his monkey demon powers, thus most of the time Libber and Cliff forget that he has them.

° Jay was still in his human form when they put the bracelets on him, therefore he was trapped in that form. That also helped that he didn't know his origins for a long time.

° Two years go by, without many complications thanks to the bracelets and the couple is in fact very happy with their son.

° Until one day the master of lightning mysteriously disappears. Her husband being devastated, not thinking clearly and wanting to go looking for her, leaves her son on the doorstep of some old but trusted friends of hers, Ed and Edna Walker.

° Both find a basket with a two-year-old baby in it and see the key and the note that says: please take care of the child, that his name is Jay, he is a little restless but very good, and remarks that they do not take away the bracelets unless absolutely necessary, the note has no signature but has the address and key to the house.

° Cliff's idea was that Ed and Edna would stay at his house while they took care of Jay, he didn't clarify anything and in the end that didn't happen, obviously. In his haste Cliff also forgot to sign the note, (and this is where I call him "idiot").

° The couple is delighted with Jay and take care of him as if he were theirs.

° Life in Ninjago goes on and Jay somehow inherits the element of lightning from his first adoptive mother. From here everything happens as in the series, with some and sometimes big changes here and there.
