“Why paintball?” asked Mercedes.
“Ah…because I’m uh…” said Ashe, a bit timid from all the attention he was suddenly getting. “I’m pretty good at it and uh…well I wanted to invite my crush to impress them.”
At that, Mercedes couldn’t help herself. She loved setting up other people together. Some would say she liked playing matchmaker a little too much, but they were all jealous that so many of her friends would come to her for relationship help. She had after all gotten the two biggest hopeless romantics on campus, Byleth Eisner and Dimitri Blaiddyd, together despite years of an established pattern of mutual pining and chickening out. Why not help Ashe?
“Sure, I’ll help organize it,” she agreed. “But tell me Ashe, who do you have a crush on?”
Tumblr media
Step 1: Avoid Shooting You Crush
In which: Annette Dominic reluctantly agrees to go play paintball with Ashe Ubert, his gym buddies, and other fiends to help him out with impressing and asking out his crush. She finds herself unwillingly in the middle of things when she's paired up with Ashe himself, but finds she's on the same team as a familiar looking villainous stranger she may or may not be currently feuding with.

I have recently learned that 11/11 is apparently Pocky Day? Good an excuse as any to draw more Raven and Lucius, hehe.
There are so many more flavors of these than I ever expected, I'm quite surprised.

Help! I was Reincarnated into the Crown Prince of a Nation of Warriors? / a fire emblem isekai scenario starring diamant
a little idea @kurakynr and i discussed, both of our thoughts below. overlaps with canon. (reasoning behind this choice is because i wanted to give people more angst on diamant)
Premise:
Where a modern, overachieving Diamant with completely overbearing parents that only expect perfection from him (100% on everything, perfect SAT scores, class president, star athlete, every extracurricular in high school, and is now starting his first day of college at an Ivey League) gets hit by a truck because he's completely sleep deprived and doesn't see it coming (also because classic isekai plot device) and is transported into the body of OG Diamant.
Plot:
OG Diamant suffered a fatal wound in the battle that he references in his B support conversation with Alear. This is the same battle in which he confesses he's not sure if the victory was earned, or if it was due to luck. But due to universes crossing and spacetime shenanigans, Modern Diamant and OG Diamant swap bodies instead of dying.
Modern Diamant, with no memories of the life of the Crown Prince that he's now occupying the body of, is pretty much only focused on Survival to begin with, and living the life of the Crown Prince as best he can so he's not discovered as an impostor. (He's afraid Brodia will have his head if they find out he's not the real crown prince.)
He felt impostor syndrome before. But now??? He is impostor syndrome reincarnate. (eh? ;) get it?)
Some details:
- He has the muscle memory of OG Diamant so getting used to battle is not an issue.
- He was not afraid of fire to begin with, but OG Diamant's body would instinctively react with a latent fear, so he eventually did become afraid of fire.
- OG Diamant suffered a blow to the head in the battle so memory loss was not out of the ordinary, however Modern Diamant now needs to study and work tirelessly (many sleepless nights) to make it seem like he does know everything and his memory is coming back.
More on (Morion?) Modern Diamant's family background:
- He doesn't have the loving parents that OG Diamant had. His parents are very "tough love" with him and say they only want the best for him so he can have a better future than they did. They're the type to be very disappointed in him when he does less than perfect, and just accept him when he is perfect with no praise.
- Modern Diamant does have a support system LIKE Morion though, in his mentor. He does see his mentor as a caring figure who doesn't know what's going on underneath, but his mentor supports him and is unequivocally proud of him even when he feels extremely tired and burnt out.
- He also has a younger brother, but his parents' expectations on his brother are much less, so he actually feels a bit of resentment towards his brother for not having as much pressure on him. But he still loves his brother, he's just not very close to him. His younger brother looked up to him and wanted to spend more time with him but Modern Diamant never had the time nor energy to.
(I wanted to emulate the feeling of pressure on Modern Diamant that OG Diamant felt, but there is no layperson-modern-equivalent to having an entire kingdom's expectations on your shoulders, so Family was the best alternative.)
Some angst regarding Identity:
- The people around him really reinforce that his identity really is just "Crown Prince of Brodia" and he finds he isn't actually learning much about OG Diamant. This realization makes him pretty sad, but he also realizes that that's pretty much how his own life was back in his modern age.
- Adding to the last point, he thinks he might learn more about himself through his brother, the second prince, but Alcryst's idolatry towards him makes him feel even more strongly that he doesn't really have an identity beyond being the prince.
- OG Diamant may have aligned more with Brodia's values and had slightly more warmongering tendencies, though it's hard to say if these tendencies were a reflection of his true self or just because OG Diamant lived and died for his country. Modern Diamant was someone who wanted to make positive change on the world with the life he had, and despite him trying to occupy OG Diamant's body and mind the best he can, this is one difference he cannot really reconcile.
- He keeps the fact that he wishes for peace a secret until he comes to understand OG Diamant better, that no one really knew Diamant's true philosophy because he wasn't the type to express these things openly, so when he does eventually make closer friendships he is comfortable confiding this to them.
- Unlike in many Isekai stories, Modern Diamant kind of doesn't have trouble blending in as long as he keeps his history up to date.
Other "lore" tidbits and background details that mix with canon:
- Modern Diamant was a skeptic and atheist in his life before he was isekai'd. Yes, he'd heard the tales of the Fell Dragon war, but it was much as we might see Greek Mythology, as tales but not necessarily a modern belief system. Sure, there were some churches, but Modern Diamant saw the Fell Dragon war as a testament towards Elyos' cultural history rather than actually being a religion.
- The way he views the "Divine Dragon" when he's isekai'd is just as some figurehead or a way for royalty to exert more power over the people. Ok, he's pretty surprised when the Divine Dragon actually exists. But, still ever so skeptic, he thinks that they might just be human. After all, he's never seen them transform into a dragon. The shock he experiences seeing Lumera transform / Sombron existing shakes his belief system to its core.
- Also, magic. He can't really wrap his head around it, as a student who excelled in Chemistry and Physics (he excelled in everything, but that's beside the point). But the flow of energy in the past was different than that of the present (and it could have been due to the changes following the Fell Dragon war, but this is getting a bit too deep into the inconsequential now).
- To add to this, a lot of the Divine Dragon's army became important historical figures, including Alfred/Céline (who, due to the former's early death, ended up as a composite character, a magic knight), Diamant, Ivy, and Timerra. Notably regarding Ivy, Diamant finds it difficult to dislike Ivy as much as his brother Alcryst does because she's the Queen of Wisdom from the history books he's read.
- His defending Ivy following Chapter 11 was significant for 2 reasons. One, it would be the first time he openly stood up for his own ideals rather than Brodia's, and two, he saw this as necessary to help Ivy (a historical figure to him) feel more welcome in the army when he could tell the atmosphere was so tense and that she was already hesitant to betray her country, which was a commendable and noble action in his eyes.
(To be honest, even though I am personally not a fan of ivymant, I can see ivymant being more of a thing in this story just because of how Modern Diamant might see her.)
Some interactions / additions:
- When Alear confesses their fear of how the war will turn out, if they're strong enough to end the war, Diamant may at this point confess the truth. Or, if this is too early, he may confess this at the final confrontation to Sombron, when Alear is feeling despair. "Alear, you don't have to worry about the future. I know that you will lead us to a brighter future. I am living proof of that."
- Alear dying and reincarnating in Chapter 22 makes Diamant wonder if he's screwed the timeline or something, because this wasn't supposed to happen. He feels tremendous guilt even though he was just Trying All along.
- Little Dialear angle because it's my thing: Diamant's initial skepticism may actually help foster a much closer relationship with Alear, just because he may initially approach them as a person would another person, rather than a person to a deity. This helps them open up about their vulnerabilities a bit more.
- Modern Diamant didn't have particularly strong ties to his previous life. In a sense even though this life feels restrictive because he's living to be someone else, he also comes to understand himself better, that his life was pretty similar to OG Diamant's in terms of expectations, identity, and in some ways the fact he's able to detach from his previous life's expectations (despite being thrust into a new set of them entirely) is cathartic to him.
Poor OG Diamant, stuck in a fucking college class

we need need neeed a charles variant of the media naranja fic :( just a multiple lives au even just a drabble or a headcanon auds audrey big a please only u do this shit justice
bec this has been rotting and i needed to practice writing :)
divine sense – cl16
Charles is always led back to you. title from this
“Your mole is nice,” he says, cutting himself off and thinking a bit more on his words. “It sits just there, on the corner of your eye.”
“Really? God.” You poke at it, rub over it even if it sits relatively flat and unassuming and a bit tiny. “I’ve always hated it. People mistake it for leftover eyeliner or mascara all the time, and it’s—whatever.”
“It’s pretty.” His gaze could light you on fire and water it down all at once. “It’s one of the first things I noticed about you. Granted, I thought it was a, uh, how you say? Mascara, yes, that flicked off your eye a bit, but now it’s just there. I like it.”
A slow smile creeps its way onto your lips and you bite it back, to no avail. “Thank you.”
“It’s the reason why you look so familiar to me.” My mole? You ask, your head turning to the side a bit. He nods. “I don’t know why, either. I mean, clearly we didn’t know each other then. But something about you—you’ve always felt familiar, I think.”
“I have?”
The trees are greener in the spring, but they’re thin still, not yet too thick with leaves that will fade into orange and die and fall. It’s perfect, Charles thinks, because then the sun filters perfectly through the green of them and shines through the blinds and onto your face, smiling tenderly and warm and waiting. Your eyelashes cast a shadow across the rest of your face and he could stare forever.
“You have.”
“Did you get mascara on your eye?”
“What? Oh. Fuck, no. This—it’s a mole.” You turn quickly to the mirror. “I know, it looks a bit like it, yeah.”
“Sorry. I didn’t mean to be rude.”
“It’s all good. So, Charles, right?” You reread the application sheet and stretch a hand forward to shake his. “My new roommate… taking up Architecture.”
“Yep.” He smiles proudly, the emblem of your university front and centre on his sweatshirt. “I hope this doesn’t sound weird, but have I met you before? You just look a little familiar. Mole and all.”
“Oh.” Instinctively, you reach up to touch the area on which it sits. “I don’t think so, sorry. Um, but in my Lit class, we did have a discussion about how… like… moles are places where you were kissed in your past life.”
“Oh?”
“Yeah.” You smile up at him. The fall breeze filters through the open living room window, blowing tendrils of hair over your face that you’re quick to brush away. “Granted, I don’t know who would want to kiss an area like this.”
“You don’t?”
And maybe you’re a bit loopy from the drive, or hungry from waking up early, or maybe not at all. Maybe Charles the college roommate is messing with you, or maybe pulling a prank, or maybe not at all. The sunset today is beginning to tint the room and his pretty face a muted orange and you could stare forever.
“I don’t.”
Your first time in Italy is marked by a series of ugly firsts: first catcall, mistranslation, scam, blistered heel. But you make it, despite it all, to your foster family’s farm estate, all old vine-caked buildings and stables and lemon trees. You spot somebody poking their head out of the upstairs window but the mop of hair disappears just as quickly.
The door is answered by Pascale—the one you’d been corresponding with prior to today. With her is her husband, Hervé, and two sons, one of whom is somewhere in the house getting your room tidy, she says apologetically. You’re quick to quell her apology, sated by the ice water and bowl of fruit (Hervé says something about picking them all out himself; Arthur, the younger one, pulls you aside with a boyish smile and says it was actually him.)
“Lorenzo is off at university for summer classes,” Pascale explains when she’s putting the second spoonful of pasta on your plate. “So I am stuck with Arthur here, and Charles. He’s about your age, yes? Twenty-two in October.”
Charles descends into the kitchen talking in rapid Italian to his mom, that only tapers off when he sees you at the table. You smile, dopey, raising a careful hand to wave.
He stares.
“Vieni a sederti,” Pascale says, pointing to the empty seat beside you. Shyly, he takes a seat and fills up his glass with water—then yours.
“Oh,” you say. “Thank you.” Your gaze travels to him, and find he’s already looking—at the corner of your eye.
“It’s a mole,” you clarify with a quiet, pretty laugh. “Are you excited to take me around? Pascale says you’re my tour guide.”
“Sure, sure.” He laughs. “Where do you want to go?”
Hervé has played some Italian music on his vinyl, so it’s what scratchily plays through the dining area, accompanied by the scent of garlic and lemon and olive from the trees outside, blowing a gentle breeze through the archway of the house.
You turn away from his green eyes to answer one of Arthur’s questions, peppering chili flakes over your aglio olio to twirl and deposit into your mouth. One red flake stays on your lip and he imagines swiping it off with his thumb. Your eyes meet his again, gaze amused and gentle and Charles could stare forever.
“Anywhere, really.”
“Oh, honey,” you whine playfully, letting your husband crowd you against the counter of your kitchen, peppering kisses all over your face. “Missed me that much?”
“You know I did.” He parts from you, and even if he's taller his gaze seems to convey looking up at you, adoration and love crowding his green eyes. A hand caresses your jaw, cheek; his thumb rubs over the corner of your eye. The blank skin there, unmarked, unblemished.
He kisses it. His favorite spot. “I woke up this morning thinking about you,” he says fondly.
“About how I left you in charge of changing Mila while I slept in?” You tease lowly, forehead pressed to his.
“About how in love I am with you,” he says honestly. Your heart pulses. It was never a whirlwind of love for either of you. It was slow, warm, familiar. Hey, you.
Despite that, he means it, you know he does, he’s never failed to show just how much. When he wakes up early to change Mila, or when he takes charge of the stove when you’re sleepy. When he lets you walk him around the winding avenues of Manhattan to get cookies or a good coffee or a better beer. When he watches you sing karaoke tipsily, Billy Joel or The Smiths. The way he memorizes every part of you, the way he knows you. Any and all of the love Charles ever had and ever felt always answered to you.
Lips meet the corner of your eye again. “You know that? I love you. You changed me. You know that, right?”
You could stay forever, in the dusk of the city, questions suspended in the air to be lovingly answered in the lifetimes to follow. They will come, though. You can stay for now—you’ve done your waiting for a love like this.
You smile. “Right.”

succession character rpg classes thoughts:
fire emblem edition: kendall - obligatory lord roman - dancer tom - knight/potentially cavalier, wanted to be a pegasus knight shiv - dark mage connor - mage or potentially a priest? i lean mage though. stewy - wyvern rider for the cool factor greg - obligatory villager
dnd edition: joke/serious: everyone is a warlock whose patron is logan and/or capitalism. serious/joke: still a pretty unplayable party. kendall - i'm inclined towards some kind of cringe monk, but i could see the argument for cringe bard roman - gotta be a bard. college of eloquence probably connor - don't know why i'm so fixed on con as a caster but sorcerer imo, though i can see wizard. wild magic would be funny and fitting tom - either a bog-standard fighter or kind of a shitty paladin (oath of devotion probably) shiv and stewy - still both warlocks to me. greg -
there's a succession dragon age au also in my mind but that's a whole other thing. not accepting constructive criticism at this time

Out-of-Fandom Longfic Recs
Looking for something good that you can sink your teeth into? Not necessarily LoZ? I can recommend some masterpieces and favorites. :) all these are complete!
Harry Potter and the Problem of Potions by Wyste. 180k. Yes yes HP I know. It was still a formative part of my adolescence and this is just fanfiction. Very satisfying fanfiction, in which Harry becomes a real character who desperately wants to be a potion master despite Snape's every attempt to dissuade him. Lots of fun.
Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality by LessWrong. 661k. Longest thing on this list but HOO BOY is it worth it. Written by a guy to teach people about... well. Methods of rationality. Applies the scientific method to the HP-verse, makes Voldemort actually smart, and is a lot of fun the whole way through. You can read on FFN or by downloading an epub or PDF. At least try the first chapter I am BEGGING YOU.
The Dragon-King's Temple by Kryal. Avatar: the Last Airbender (show) & Stargate SG-1, 200k. I knew nothing about SG-1 going in, had only seen the movie, and really enjoyed this. Once again, the worldbuilding and the mystery are very very good. Like legitimately. Zuko & Toph focus!
Thrower of the Dart by Vathara. Avengers & Artemis Fowl (books) crossover, 100k. Picks up after the first Avengers movie and AF book 5 (the demon one.) Very nice plot, good character interactions, fun worldbuilding, mostly in the AF side.
let the shadows fall behind you by Sweetbriar15. Disney's Descendants (just the first one), 155k. Did you ever feel like the movie was a bit of a waste of a good story premise? This will help. Picks up after modifying the end of the first movie, introduces a lot of awesome character and worldbuilding information. Mal-focused, but not too heavily.
Phantom of Truth by Haiju. Danny Phantom, 58k. DP is full of whump fics, and this is probably one of the very best. Its sequel, Shadow of a Doubt, has stopped updating on AO3, but it should still be on FFN. SoaD is, iirc, 100k+, and quite good, dealing with the aftermath of the first.
Bandits and Bravery by LettdViolet. Fire Emblem: Three Houses, 28k. Linhardt/M!Byleth, modern college AU, the events of the game are played out by a group playing knockoff D&D. Themes of grief and mourning a parent's death, and finding comfort. Linhardt is like a sleepy version of Vio without as much evil. Shortest on this list but I LIKE IT OKAY
Carpetbaggers by cofax. Chronicles of Narnia, 120k. Fills in some of the time post-LWW with adventures and working on gaining trust. Feels a lot like a continuation of the book, though without the heavy-handed allegory.

nine-tenths of the law
By Alphinia
“Is that mine?”
Kiara stiffened. Surely JJ wasn’t addressing her. “What?”
Her eyes slowly slid to his, as pleasantly as nails on a chalkboard. And sure enough, he stared back at her, clear blue flitting from her face to the stained emblem on her chest.
“My hoodie.”
“Oh,” Kiara said, because what the fuck else was she supposed to say? She landed him with a look she hoped was as unimpressed as she felt, and gave away none of the burning in her ears. Glanced down at the hoodie as if to study it, as if she didn’t already know exactly what she was wearing. “I don’t know. I guess.”
She figured this had to be the part where she melted into a puddle, or the building caught fire. No worse than the pain of slipping out of an elevator to go about her day after this shit.
——————————-
OR Kiara isn't hung up on her failed college situationship. Really, she isn't. It's just that the hoodie is there, and it's really, really cold.

I just replayed one of my favorite 3DS games ever (Fire Emblem Awakening) and was hit by a sudden AU inspiration:
So, Yuu/Reina marries Malleus and they live happily, having two kids, Malachai and Malisandra—twins. All goes well until one day mysterious blot-like monsters start showing up throughout Briar Valley, and their mother is assassinated shortly after. So now the entire country is in turmoil, dealing with yet another loss of a monarch, monsters are attacking, and Malleus is struggling not to decimate everything in sight (aka overblot for the 2nd time) due to his grief.
The twins feel helpless watching their father isolate himself in grief and madness, so they decide to do something about it. They find a strange old spellbook in the restricted section of the castle library, and thinking that it may contain a spell to help fight monsters, they try casting it:
Only to end up smack dab at Night Raven College, just shortly before the start of the school year and the entrance ceremony….
So now as Draconias, they both have to try ultra hard to conceal their identities, either with magic or disguises/potions or both.
And now they also have to figure out a way to return to their normal timeline, while finding a way to fix the monster problem (and maybe bring back their deceased mother?) Oh, and help play matchmaker for their current teenage parents.
Too bad in this timeline overblots still happen. And Reina seems to harbor feelings towards someone else—someone that is not their father, Malleus Draconia.
Is it Vil? Leona? Uncle Silver?
Even worse, it’s GRANDPA LILIA.

Some College AU Headcannons
Diarmuid Ua Duibhne
A cultural anthropology major with a focus on what the knight archetype implies, and how its changes depending on the cultural implications.
Wore a face mask pre COVID-19 to cover his mole, and thanks to the pandemic it became more normalized for him to so.
He goes to parties if he knows one of his friends will be present, often playing drinking games with Fionn and Cu.
Flirts with his friends quite to the point outside observers can’t tell if it was platonic or romantic.
Cu Chuclainn
As irritating as it can be at times he enjoys being in veterinary school.
He fosters dogs and has had several foster fails. One of them being a small white fluffy dog that is a little bit crusty, (causing his friends to make jokes of him being a rich white mom who owns a yacht).
Tried taking his pals on fishing trips but the only one who would come after a few trips is Fionn.
Iskander
The big man enjoys his maps, so naturally he became a geography major who minored in classics.
He’s a part of the wresting team and his friends joke about burying their faces into his tiddies saying things such as “normalize friend group homoerotism”.
Iskander got very into strategy games, and his not so guilty pleasure game is the Fire Emblem series.
Waver
A freshmen history major who is very out of his element.
Ended up getting adopted by Iskander because he ended up accidently bumping into him checking his phone.
He’s honestly terrified of Iskander’s friends but he keeps getting dragged into their hangouts. He eventually develops a soft spot for all of them, and cried when some of them graduated.
Identifies as a part of the LGBTQ+ community but isn’t sure how to label it, whether in regards to gender or sexuality.
