People who actually interact with marauders stuff please help me
Im scared of AO3 but I really want to read good jegulus/wolfstar stuff and just general queer marauders stuff, I'd absolutely love recommendations!
I prefer multi-part stories, when they're longer I tend to get lost in them and I enjoy that, but if they're short and strong I'd still love the rec! I'm appreciative of all genres but something that's mainly smut just doesn't appeal to me, I'm ace and I do appreciate those scenes when they're used well to explain character dynamics, but if it's just smut with half-hearted plot to hold it together idk if I can do it. I also genuinely always cry at sad endings and I'd prefer to not cry
If anyone had any recs, please lmk!!

The Scholomance trilogy's premise, summarized:
Wizards are tasty to monsters. Adult wizards can defend themselves. Kid wizards can't, so the safest way for them to get educated is to attend a well-warded school cut off from the rest of the world.
But some monsters still get in, and surviving to graduate is hardly guaranteed. Strategy and strong alliances are needed, not to mention skills and spells and the power to use them.
Not everyone enters on the same footing. Richer, better-connected teenagers, including anyone who can come in with spells or artifacts or pre-made wearable protection, are more likely to live. More likely to graduate.
Kids whose parents didn't have extra tutoring, extra resources, and strong connections? Good luck.
The worldbuilding lives up to this premise. The characterization lives up to this premise. The main character is fantastic. (Things do get better.)
The first book is A Deadly Education, by Naomi Novik. There are three books in the trilogy, and all of them are already out.
I love these books so much.

hey so I saw you're writing for tamlin and it's so hard to find fics of him (my poor bby has been through enoughhh) anyways so I was hoping if you know any good fics with tamlin on ao3 or wattpad or even a story on tumblr bc I feel like i keep rereading the same fics over and over again (esp yours🤭) but anyways recs would be amazing if you can find time<3
Hi. Thank you very much for reading my fiction ☺️
I've never even opened ao3 or wattpad, so I don't know much about the fictions there. I'm sorry😔
As for Tumblr, I read just very few Tamlin fictions I liked, mostly headcanons
Yet I could recommend maybe this one if you haven't read it yet. This series also is supposed to be Tamlin x reader. It's still just on the beginning and they haven't met yet, but it's on one of my favourite blogs, so it certainly will be a masterpiece.
There's also this account @tamlinweek that reblogs Tamlin fictions (haven't read through it yet, 🫣but it's worth to check it out)
Anyway if someone has some good Tamlin fictions to recommend, pretty please, share it with us
(I'm interested, too 🥲)

I’ve reached the point in my queer journey where I don’t want gay subtext anymore. I don’t want up-to-interpretation maybe-they-are gay content.
I want explicitly queer joy and love and passion. I only want overtly gay content in my life now.
So, send your girl some book recs, ok?

Can’t Stay Away’s Fic Rec Friday Post #4
12.22.23
Tumblr media
My ao3 Bookmarks (if it’s bookmarked, it’s usually a completed fic)
Fic Rec Friday Intro and FAQ
I can’t do multiple posts with elaborate reviews/commentary today. I just wanted to say that over the last few months, while I was grappling with this overwhelmingly depressive sense of doom, profound sadness, hopelessness, and apathy, reading fanfiction was one of the most effective types of escapism I engaged in.
So, here are the fics that I have been reading, keeping track of, and loving:
Almost anything @bardocksheadband-fanfics, but especially:
1. The Re-Education of Mr. Almehen
Tumblr media
Fandom: Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
Pairing: Nashuri
Summary: “Namor's life changes in all the right ways the day his student's aunt picks him up from school.”
What I Like About It: It may seem lame af to describe something as “tasteful” and mean it as a compliment, not a slight. I mean, this is a Suga Mama Shuri and a Baby Boy Namor (whom I call Ch’ah in my head) but not in the way you think. It’s a rom-com! It’s sexy, it’s funny, it’s adorable. And these two kinky assholes are in love! Also, he’s a kindergarden teacher; a good one. The way he is written with these kids just makes my ovaries quiver.
2. Filthy Mouth
Tumblr media
Fandom: Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
Pairing: Nashuri
Summary: Single father Namor goes on his first blind date and gets his world rocked.
What I Like About It: Almost the same as above, but in reverse! Though more of a straightforward relationship dynamic, not a kept man/woman scenario at all. More of a freak in sheets, lady in the streets situation. But again, there is love and devotion, as there always is with this pairing (well, when writers stay away from the darker dynamics of the ship). This is absolutely amazing. Superbly written, well-paced, tonally balanced, funny, sexy, and somewhat dramatic but not anxiety-inducing. Like, literally perfect.
_______
Almost anything @zzbottomz, but especially:
unfaithful
Tumblr media
Fandom: Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
Pairing: Nashuri/Loshuri
Summary: Shuri’s world unravels when she discovers her husband Namor’s infidelity, leading to a heart-wrenching divorce. Amidst the chaos, she finds solace in Loki, a charming entrepreneur with a complicated past of his own. As their unexpected romance flourishes, Shuri grapples with co-parenting challenges, the complexities of new love, and unresolved feelings.
What I Like About It: I mean, I didn’t think that a Love Triangle between Shuri, Loki, and Namor would be so intriguing. That it would be utterly confusing as to who you want to root for. That you would feel your heart beat for the plight of each character. There’s so much at stake, but especially the happiness of a little boy caught in the middle of the mess adults can make of their lives. It’s drama personified, and I live for each installment. Plus, Loki is written so well here, it’s hard not to root for him.
_______
A new writer, or a seasoned one, returned from a long hiatus, inspired by Shuri and Namor:
Before everything by stories_of_grace
Tumblr media
Fandom: Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
Pairing: Nashuri
Summary: A year after her mother’s death, Shuri burns her mourning clothes on the beach in Haiti and wakes up not only back in Talokan, but also back in time. Given the chance to do things differently, can she prevent her mother’s death and convince Namor of a peaceful alliance?
What I Like About It: THIS fic is everything I want in a Nashuri. It is another “What If” scenario, mapped and tread carefully. We’ve all imagined what could have been if it had been different, as Namor lamented on the beach that day just after he speared the Black Panther, right before she almost killed him and forced him to yield to her. Go read this! It is so satisfying!
______
There are others, but ta for now! Please enjoy your holidays!

Hello sweetie! Your writing is absolutely fantastic! I was wondering if you had any recs? I am bored to death so I'm looking forward to anything that you can recommend. I love your fan fictions to the moon and back 💜
Hi there 😊 Thank you so much for that compliment!
I’ve been curating some of my fav fics for a post but it’s not ready yet so here’s the top 5 blogs that I love, and inspired me to get back into tumblr and start writing:
@dreamcubed Masterlist
They’ve written a lot of wonderful x reader fics I’ve reread on my safari before I got my tumblr. my absolute favourite of theirs is ‘Delicate’ 💞 which is a Theodore x Reader strangers to lovers fic.
@cassiopeiasdaughter Masterlist
Another author whose fics I keep rereading! I just love it so much! I just adore their Midnights series is based on a second wizarding war au with Theodore x Reader 🥰
@acosmis-t Masterlist
Their fics are delicious and I gobble them up. I’ve read ‘Our Secrets Buried Shallow’ (another Theodore x Reader) so many times I can’t even count it on my fingers anymore.
@patrophthia Masterlist
I read their fics like no tomorrow when I was on safari. My fav is ‘red ears, and redder string’ ♥️ I love soulmates AUs
@sereinegemini Masterlist
Their mood boards and fics are whimsical. They have a series called ‘Two Dark Princes’ and is one that I anticipate and reread. It’s a Theodore x Reader and a Draco x Reader.
I know my favs have been mostly Theodore fics (I’m just so obsessed with him atm) but these authors do write for other characters and in other eras. Some even write for different universes. So be sure to check those out too 💞
And to the authors I’ve mentioned. Thank you so much for sharing your fics 🥰 It brings people so much joy and comfort ✨🥹 And you might not even get to see it as they might be like me before reading in incognito.

One recent novel have read, The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern, was soooo close to whatever my practice is and i highly recommend it for those who love storytelling, stories as a treasure who should be free and accessible but are also very fragile. About how stories always have to end in order to start over again.

Been seeing the post about The Last Voyage of the Demeter popping around on my dash and I’m also very excited. While you wait, consider checking out The Route of Ice & Salt by José Luis Zárate. It’s a queer, gothic narrative about Dracula’s voyage upon the Demeter. It was first published in Mexico in 1992 and translated into English in 2021. Intro by Poppy Z. Brite, which should entice horror fans to check it out.
It’s haunting. Beautiful. So so tense. I can’t recommend it enough. It will get you hype while you wait for more Dracula content.

so I recently (as in yesterday) got around to reading Backpacking through Bedlam (InCryptid 12, Seanan McGuire), very very good, hard to put down, gods I love this series so much
I read it in a day, I'm not saying it's short, for sure not a doorstopper, but about average for the genre
I mean that's the thing though isn't it, Urban/modern fantasy "Supernatural Mystery" as a genre tends to produce, short episodic novels, I maybe find Seanans books particularly easy to read, but I still think it's a common element to the genre, maybe mystery more generally tends to favour more episodic storytelling because much as a I want it that sort of fiction seems rare in other (sub)genres of fantasy, at least with more recent works, fantasy seems to tend towards giant doorstoppers, at least that not aimed at kids,
maybe I just need to read more fantasy, so if anyone has any recommendations for short(ish) episodic fantasy series, idk about genre divisions in fantasy, but I want magic

A few weeks back, I listened to the first episode of Midst (the re-release, on Critical Role's YT channel) and was like "this is great, only one episode? Okay" and immediately forgot because. Life.
Then last Thursday I was reminded it exists and I am so glad there's a season 2 because so far I'm hooked. It's weird, it's funny, it's a bit dark, and there's something so endearing about the narration and the way the three speakers play around with the shared storytelling.
The bit in Ep. 2 about "We will not tell you whom." "It was Lark." "We will tell you whom." "Now you know." is so delicious to me, I love it and am absolutely here for it. And all my congratulations and sympathy to the sound editor who wrangled that gem into existence.

If you want a fantasy story that has strong critiques of Imperialism and sexism you should read Raybearer by Jordan Ifueko, a Nigerian Author. Also if you like complex female characters and Villians.
Maybe I will someday

A friend of mine in Montreal runs a teashop (shout out to Thésaurus Thérrarium, if you're ever in Montreal I recommend making a visit), and she also carries books by a local author. I picked up Small Miracles on an impulse - I'm a Discworld fan, and the jacket blurb from the New York Times comparing it to Pratchett was irresistible. I can confirm that comparison is accurate!
I had to stop reading every few paragraphs to read bits out loud to my husband. I was half-way done when I went to bed last night and had to finish it before I could focus on work this morning. The climax brought me to tears in the best possible way, when all the bits and bobs of ordinary moments scattered throughout the story come together into something so profoundly human it overflows, without ever losing that sense of delight and whimsy and a little bit of sarcasm.
Small Miracles is an absolute joy to read, and I have a feeling I'll be rereading it for years.
