Fear Street Part Two: 1978
“Fear Street Part Two: 1978″ is better than its predecessor, but the bar was set so low that this movie still ends up being mediocre.
Ziggy Berman is a social outcast attending camp with her sister, Cindy Berman. They’re both from Shadyside, but Cindy’s trying to get out while Ziggy has accepted her place. One day, the camp nurse snaps and tries to kill Cindy’s boyfriend, Tommy Slater. Luckily he survives, but starts to act weird after hitting his head during the fight.
While the first film was completely incompetent with how it was made, “Fear Street Part Two: 1978″ is a step up by being just mediocre. I think one of the most egregious parts of the first film was the music mixing. It was significantly better in this movie, but if I hear “Carry On Wayward Son” one more time, I’m going to lose it. This movie’s hard-on for that song is so apparent that Ziggy stops in the middle of a chase scene to turn on the song. Sure, you’re running for your life from a crazy, axe-wielding murderer, but there’s always time for some Kansas. It’s the 70′s after all. I thought that the characters this time around were a lot better. Sadie Sink is perfect for the snarky, angsty teen role. Emily Rudd as Cindy was a character I could root for since she had goals and aspirations while also having flaws and changing throughout the course of the story. McCabe Slye was a great pick for the villain. He didn’t quite sell the loving boyfriend role for me, but that’s because he just has a villainous look to him that I couldn’t shake off. Ryan Simpkin’s Alice was my least favorite character, but at least I could get where she was coming from. She still felt human to me. I thought the kills were pretty good this time around. I was impressed at how much the camera could show without the effects looking fake. That’s about all the praise I could give this movie. There was so much that took me out of this movie. For starters, the characters make decisions that had me scratching my head the whole time. One example of this is when Ziggy and Cindy seemingly kill Tommy. Instead of getting out of there and getting help, they decide to sit next to the body and have a bonding moment. They could’ve had this moment in a police precinct, but the movie wasn’t over by this point, so they kept them next to a corpse. Another problem I had with this film was how much it wanted to subvert tropes of the slasher genre, without initially sticking to the tropes in the first place. If you want to subvert expectations, then you have to lead your audience to believe that the movie is going one way. The problem with “Fear Street Part Two: 1978″ is that its kills never stick to the trope of killing sexually promiscuous or drug-using teens. It’s almost mean-spirited in the way that it kills its victims. The killer chooses victims indiscriminately like a sweet little boy and a room full of minorities. Yes, this makes the movie unpredictable, but that inherently forfeits the movie from being subversive since the audience is expecting anything anymore. So when Cindy, who would’ve normally been, the final girl dies, I wasn’t surprised since the movie wasn’t following any of the tropes in the first place. Also, another thing that bothered me about the twist reveal of Ziggy being C. Berman was that there’s no way Josh could’ve been surprised by the reveal at the end. C. Berman was telling Deena and Josh this story in her living room. She would’ve been using first-person pronouns. The only way this reveal surprised Josh is if he wasn’t paying attention until the end or if C. Berman was telling the story in the third-person. The reveal wasn’t surprising for me either because, throughout the movie, I couldn’t be bothered to remember their names. Maybe if the beginning of the flashback had a misdirect of Cindy putting on a C. Berman nametag as a camp counselor would’ve helped. I was really bummed because a lot of fans of this series conceded to the first film being the weakest, but the second being the best. If this is their best, then I’m not excited about the third and final film.

The queen of hearts
(Emma Myers x fem! reader)
Tumblr media
Summary: You, a well known actress, joined the cast for the second season of Wednesday. A well-executed magic trick and a questionable pick-up line later, you find yourself kissing one of your co-stars. Warnings: none (?) (English isn't my first language, I'm sorry if there are mistakes or if something doesn't make sense TvT)
As far as you could remember, you always wanted to be an actress. You starred in some adds on tv when you were 12, before auditioning for the role of C/n Henderson in the first season Stranger Things.
You were 14 when the series was released, and you didn't expect it to make you famous. But since then, you played in several movies such as Fear Street 1978 and 1666, or the last two Star Wars - for which you symbolized the new generation of the upcoming trilogy.
You favorite genre to play was fantasy. Sometimes you wished you were born in the 90's so you could have a chance to play in the Harry Potter movies.
Of course, you continued the 'Stranger Things Adventure', as you called it, all the way to season 5, which had yet to be filmed. You were proud to see that the series was on top of the most watched Netflix series.
But recently, the series rank was in danger due to the new series Wednesday. You resisted a whole month before binge watch it with Sadie. Since you met on the set of Stranger Things season 2, you were best friends.
"It's not like we're betraying anyone if we watch it, right? They can't fire us for that, right?"
"I don't think so, Noah and Mille watched it already and nothing happened. I think it's safe"
You put the pop-corn bowl between you on the couch before Sadie pressed play. Being a big fan of the Addams family, you were a little scared to watch it. But everyone seemed to say it was really good so... why not giving a try?
You liked it so far, Enid being your favorite character. You found her really cute, and her bubbly personality was a great contrast with Wednesday's cold self.
On TikTok and other social medias, you saw everyone simping for Wednesday, and honestly, it was understandable. But Enid. The wink.
You were full on gay panic. This wink, along with her smile, got you simping for her throughout the whole series.
"So, what do you think? I liked it" Sadie asked you when you finished watching
"It was great! Let's hope season 2 will come out soon!"
"So you can see who's the stalker? Or maybe more of a certain blonde?"
"I don't know what you're talking about"
"As if you didn't spend the last hours simping for her" she teased you
"Who wouldn't? She's so adorable!"
After that, it didn't take long until you where googling who played her, and in what other movies she played. You watched all of them, from 2010 Crooked, to 2021 Girl in the basement.
You quickly became a Emma Myers fan, which meant you started following her on Instagram.
When she noticed it, she couldn't believe her eyes. The Y/n L/n, her favorite actress, knew who she was? If that wasn't a dream coming true...
One of her favorite genre of movies / series was fantasy. She watched almost every work of this category, which meant she saw multiple of your roles.
Her favorite one was your Star Wars character. It was the first time she saw you on screen. Since then, she had watched everything you played in. You had something that attracted her, something special that made her want to meet you.
Not just like every other celebrities she'd love to meet. It was something different, something she couldn't quite explain.
<><><><> ♡ <><><><>
"Are you kidding me?? You're really part of the cast of Wednesday season 2?? That's awesome!"
"I know, that's crazy! But don't count on me to tell you anything"
"Come on, we're best friends, right? You can just tell me little things, no one will know..."
"Nope, sorry. I have to go, I'm in front of the studio"
"I hate you"
"Love you too bestie"
You smiled as you hung up, putting your phone in your jacket's pocket. You were excited to meet the cast and to know what happened next.
Totally nothing to do with a certain girl you were impatient to meet.
When you entered the studio, you were greeted by Jenna, whom you had already met at the auditions as she was producer of this new season.
"Y/n, hey. It's nice to have you here" she smiled
"The pleasure's mine"
She led you to where the others were, gathered a little further.
"Oh, before you meet everyone, Emma's a big fan of yours so don't be surprised if she's a little shy"
"Really?"
You couldn't help but smile. You were fan of each other. Interesting.
You walked up to the group, Jenna in front of you.
"I told you we would have a new addition to the cast, right? Well, here she is"
She stepped to the side to reveal you. You waved at them with a smile that got wider when you spotted Emma next to Hunter. You felt inexplicably drawn to her the moment your gaze met hers.
"Hi"
Like every other Saturday night since the beginning of the shooting, you were gathered at Georgie's for a little party. Apparently, it was a little tradition they had since season 1.
It was really fun to see some of you try to do your scenes the next morning when they drank a little too much. Not that the scenes were poorly acted, no, it was the behind-the-scenes face in a bucket that was the most fun.
You weren't one to drink much, so you never had the problem. But Hunter did quite a lot even though he doesn't drink a lot either.
This night however, you found yourself drinking more than you should, which doesn't go unnoticed by a certain brunette.
"Is everything okay?"
"Of course. What makes you think otherwise?"
"I don't know, maybe the empty bottle next to you? Or the other one in your hand? You can talk to me you know?"
You knew that, but the words got stuck in your throat every time. You were ashamed to admit it, but you were jealous. Jealous of Georgie and Emma's relation.
They were just friends, yes okay, but the way he looked at her made you think he wanted more than that. You couldn't blame him for that, being in the same situation.
What you blamed him for was... what was it again? Ah, yes. You had no reason to blame him. Emma and you were just friends too.
"It's... nothing really, just- just a bad day"
"You sure?"
She wasn't blind, she saw how you looked at Emma, how you acted around her. But what she saw too was how Emma looked at you. And that you didn't see.
"Yeah, don't worry. I'm fine"
"Okay then..."
She didn't believe you, but let you alone, taking the bottle with her as a precaution.
A little while after, you were joined by Emma who sat next to you on the couch. You had sobered up by the time Jenna left.
"How you doing?" she asked gently
"Great, you?"
"Georgie tried to show me a magic trick, ended up with my shirt being stained with his drink..."
"You should change, or you'll get cold"
"Yeah, but I don't want to leave... Plus it's dark outside, I don't feel like going alone..."
"I can come with you if you want"
"Shit, I think I forgot my keys at Georgie's..." Emma mumbled, looking in every pocket she had while you were standing in front of her door
"We can go at mine if you want, you can borrow a dry shirt, we'll go back later for your keys"
"I don't know what I would do without you"
You missed the blush on her face as she said that, too busy taking your keys out of your pocket.
"Get a cold probably. Here, come with me"
You walked side by side, shoulders brushing every now and then, until you arrived. You opened the door and let her in, before heading to your closet to find something to give her.
Meanwhile, she looked around at your room. She had no idea what it would look like, but it really screamed you. And exactly like you, the room was to her liking.
She spotted a deck of cards on your bedside table.
"Do you play card games?"
"Uhh not really, I only know poker, and am very bad at it"
"Why do you have a deck of cards then?" she asked as you emerged from the closet
You gave her the shirt with a smile.
"Want me to show you some real magic trick?"
"Sure! I love magic tricks"
You grabbed the cards and sat on the floor on the other side of the room, giving her time and space to change.
"Oh oh okay, I have to pull out my best trick then"
You shuffled the cards as she sat in front of you.
"Here, take a card, look at it, and don't tell me anything"
She obeyed, looked at the card, and kept it in hand, waiting for your instructions.
"Okay, now I'm gonna make a pile of cards randomly, for example here I put like three cards, then six, then two, etc. You tell me to stop whenever you want"
You started to stack the cards, looking at her with a smile.
"Stop!"
"Okayy, now put your card on top"
She did as you told. You put the cards you had left on top of her card and took the deck in your hands before spreading the cards on the floor in a swift motion.
In the alignment of cards, one was face up. 3 of spades.
You took the card out, letting a hole in the line of cards.
"Is it your card?"
"I'm sorry to disappoint, but it's not"
"Oh really? Maybe it's a sign... 3 of spades, so maybe three cards before..."
You counted to three starting from where the card was, and pulled a new one out, showing it to her.
"Is this one your card?"
"Oh my- Yeah it is!"
You smiled widely, before turning the card to look at it.
"The queen of hearts huh? Funny when you're the queen of mine"
You didn't mean to say that. Absolutely not. You felt your face heat up.
"Shit I'm sorry, I didn't mean to-"
You stopped, noticing she was as red as you were.
"That sounded better in my head..." you finished, still embarrassed
"... Do you mean it?" she asked after a moment of silence
"Depends. What would you do if it was the case?"
"Well..." she got on all fours and got closer to you to the point her nose was almost brushing against yours "I think I would really want to kiss you..."
"Y-yeah?" your eyes flickered to her lips before going up to her oh so beautiful eyes "My heart is yours since day one, Emma”
A smile made its way up to her face as her cheeks reddened.
“Can I kiss you?” she whispered
You leaned forward as an answer, pressing a soft kiss on her lips. She was quick to cup your cheeks and sit on your lap as she kissed back, making you tilt you head up a bit.
As your hands found their place on her hips, pulling her closer to you, the soft kisses turned into a passionate make out session that left you both breathless.
After you pulled away, she rested her forehead on yours. You were both smiling like idiots in love - which you were, actually.
"If you had told me I'd get to kiss the Y/n L/n - and that she would be romantically interested in me - I never would've believed you"
"Well, if you had told me I'd get to kiss the Emma Myers and have a romantic relationship with her, I wouldn't have believed you either"
"You're such an idiot" she chuckled, cheeks reddening again
You couldn't help but smile and placed another kiss on her soft lips.
"True, but I'm your idiot now"

What 10 Books Can You Not Live Without?
A Deal with the Elf King by Elise Kova; Published in 2020, this is a fantasy romance story about a human girl who is married to the Elf King. I love this story and literally can not put it down! I've read it about four times now since I got it in December last year. It's also amazing since it is loosely based on the mythology of Persephone and Hades! (Even with the whole enemies-to-lovers trope!)
Beauty by Robin McKinley; Published in 1978, this is a retelling of the original story of Beauty And The Beast, with a twist! (Obviously the genre is fantasy romance as well). Basically, the daughter of a wealthy merchant, Honour, also known as Beauty, is the youngest of three daughters. It goes along with the original story of Beauty And The Beast, but with a few changes, and honestly it's the best retelling I've ever read.
The New Year's Party by R.L. Stine; Published in 1995, this book is part of the Fear Street Series of R.L. Stine's and I first read this back in 2014. Like all of Stine's books, this is a horror/thriller, with dashes of romance and murder, how lovely! Here's a bit from the back of the book: "P.J. wasn't supposed to die. It was just a practical joke, no big deal. But P.J. had a bad heart." I truly recommend this but beware, you're in for a scare.
Gregor the Overlander by Suzanne Collins; This series was Published in 2003 - 2007, and is about a boy named Gregor who has to save his baby sister, Boots, after she falls down an old air duct grate in the basement of his apartment building. Similar to Alice In Wonderland, they both fall into a subterranean world called the Underland. I love this series and highly recommend it if you love fantasy, mystery, and adventure with a splash of romance.
Long Live the Pumpkin Queen by Shea Ernshaw; Published in 2022, this is the story about what happened after the events of Nightmare Before Christmas. Basically, Sally's a bit overwhelmed about her new title as Pumpkin Queen.
The School for Good and Evil by Soman Chainani; Published from 2013 to 2020, this story is a fantasy, fairytale, romance, with adventure and mystery. I haven't read the full series yet, but I've read the first two out of nine. Basically, every four years, two children are kidnapped and taken to the School for Good and Evil. Where they would be trained to be good and bad. I loved the first book because of the slight twist.
The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux; Published in English in 1911, this is the story about an Opera House that is presumed to be haunted by an Opera Ghost, also know as the Phantom of the Opera. Since the making of this book/story, there have been 33 films from 1916 - 2014. It's a wonderful story, and film, though through the years they have changed it a bit.
Cruella (Disney Live Action Novelization + Photo Insert) by Elizabeth Rudnick; This is just the novelization of the 2021 Disney live action movie, Cruella.
Deadpool: Paws: A Novel of the Marvel Universe by Stefan Petrucha; Published in 2018, in the words of Deadpool, "... This book is about puppies. Puppies that turn into big nasty monsters. And then I gotta kill 'em. Thing is, I like killing people -- the ones that deserve it, anyway -- but even I won't kill puppies. No way. So that's what we call a character dilemma..."
Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood by Oliver Bowden; This was Published in 2010, based off of the Multiplatinum Video Games from Ubisoft; Assassin's Creed. This is book 2 of 9, about the beginning of Ezio and his journey of becoming an Assassin. I've read this book twice, and finished it in the same day. That's how good it is.
Reblog with the 10 books you can't live without!

❤️‍🔥50 Essential Horror Movies ❤️‍🔥
1.       10 Cloverfield Lane – 2016 It’s not often a sequel is better than its predecessor. But this film is one of the most anxiety-inducing pieces of cinema, that somehow manages to make John Goodman scary.
Tumblr media
2.       A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night – 2014
Everyone’s favourite Persian vampire film.
3.       Alien – 1979 There’s too many reasons why this is a horror classic. It’s completely perfect.
4.       American Mary – 2012 I’ve got massive respect for the Soska Sisters. This film is them to a T.
5.       Annihilation – 2018 I love everything Alex Garland does. So when I say that this is my favourite creation of his, it means something. Part 1 of the Natalie Portman Body Horror Double Feature.
Tumblr media
6.       Apocalypto – 2006 Although not technically a horror film, there is a lot to learn here about true fear.
7.       A Quiet Place – 2018 A movie without any (or barely any) dialogue that made people appreciate how much of horror comes from sound.
8.       Audition – 1999 J-Horror classic that suits a lover of slow-paced arthouse body horror.
9.       Black Swan – 2010 Part 2 of the Natalie Portman Body Horror Double Feature.
Tumblr media
10.   The Blood on Satan’s Claw – 1971 Folk horror has been having a revival for the past few years, and this film showcases its British roots.
11.   The Cabinet of Dr Caligari – 1920 One of the first horror movies. The scenery, the expressions, the cinematography – it will teach you so much.
12.   Candyman – 1992 The sauvest ghoul who ever graced screens.
Tumblr media
13.   Carrie – 1976 Stephen King’s first book about the telekinetic teen, who was immortalised on the silver screen by Sissy Spacek.
14.   Christine – 1983 Yeah, so I like Stephen King. Who doesn’t? Christine might be cheesy and bonkers to some, but I used to watch it as a little kid and it’s stuck with me.
15.   The Color Out of Space A modern adaptation of an H.P Lovecraft short story that can help horror fans understand the “rules” (or lack thereof) that surrounds cosmic horror.
Tumblr media
16.   Crawl – 2019 The reason for this being on here: it’s hard to find a serious creature feature nowadays. I call this the “Sharknado Effect.” Has anyone else coined that? *quick google search* Yes, they have. Still stands, though.
17.   Cube – 1997 Some horrors are so simplistic, they’re boring. Others are simplistic and still have you on the edge of your seat. This is the later. I rate it above Saw any day.
18.   A Cure for Wellness – 2016 This film has it all: claustrophobia, dentophobia, and even cheliphobia.
Tumblr media
19.   Duel – 1971 If you think a truck chasing a guy in a car for a whole movie isn’t scary, you’re right it probably isn’t. Unless that movie is Duel.
20.   The Endless The cosmic horror that ticks every box for me – funny, realistic characters; a solid plot; cults; interdimensional beings; spooky shit that makes me wanna cry; time fuckery. I can’t sing its praises enough.
21.   Evil Dead II – 1987 Evil Dead I and Army of Darkness are great, but this one’s my favourite.
22.   The “Fear Street” Trilogy - 2021 Teen horror is good, actually.
23.   The Fly – 1986 Not only is it horrific, its tragic. The magic combination of a love story, body horror, and Jeff Goldblum.
Tumblr media
24.   Flatliners – 1990
From Joel Schumacher – this film could almost be thriller if it weren’t for the supernatural elements, but deserves a place on this list for a great concept that made a fantastic film.
25.   Frightmare – 1974 Pete Walker is a lesser known British director who made gory exploitation films. Frightmare is like a weird slice of history for me, and that’s why I’m into it.
26.   From Dusk Til Dawn – 1996 Changing the genre of your movie halfway through is a bold move. It totally pays off here.
27.   Ginger Snaps – 2000 Gothic werewolf movie about periods. That’s all you need to know.
Tumblr media
28.   Halloween – 1978 One of the most iconic slasher films.
29.   His House – 2020 Horror is often used as escapism, but some films look into the real world horrors that people face. His House does this with the trauma experienced by refugees.
30.   In the Mouth of Madness – 1994 Part of John Carpenter’s Apocalypse Trilogy. Lovecraftian to the core – small New England towns, eldritch beings, doom etc.
31.   Invasion of the Body Snatchers – 1978 The Fly and this film go hand in hand for me – and not just cause they both have Jeff Goldblum.
32.   It – 2017 Everyone was pretty blown away by how good (and well-cast this film was.) The second installment wasn’t as great, but they kept up with the fantastic casting so it’s easily enjoyable still.
Tumblr media
33.   Jennifer’s Body – 2009 This film got a lot of hate that arose from a bad marketing campaign. Luckily, it’s starting to push back against its bad reputation, showing people it’s actually a really good film.
34.   Lamb – 2021 Doing a completely original folk horror (and even horror in general) is hard nowadays, but this Icelandic production managed to do it.
35.   Last Night in Soho – 2021 Edgar Wright’s first non-comedic horror film. Beautiful, gripping and an incredible cast.
36.   The Love Witch – 2016 Probably unlike any other film you’ll see.
Tumblr media
37.   The Lure – 2015 A horror filled musical with mermaids.
38.   Prevenge – 2016 A pretty unique concept on a whole that director/writer/star, Alice Lowe, conceived and shot while she was pregnant.
39.   Raw – 2016 Everyone’s favourite cannibal film – you had your time, Silence of the Lambs.
40.   Relic – 2020 A terrifying look into our futures through the lens of aging family members.
41.   Ringu – 1998 You can tell something resonates with people when it’s parodied countless times.
Tumblr media
42.   The Ritual – 2017 Realistic characters, sick monster design, great story. Adds a lot to the mid-2010s folk horror boom.
43.   Saint Maud – 2019 Debut feature of Rose Glass. Original, incredible acting, and a VERY impactful final shot.
Tumblr media
44.   Scream – 1996 Just watch it.
45.   Sputnik – 2020 Reviewers try and liken this movie to any other alien sci-fi horror, but it’s concept is way more original than most people give it credit for.
46.   Suspiria – 1977 Italian horror at it’s finest.
47.   The Thing – 1982 Essential sci-fi horror.
48.   Titane – 2021 Julia Ducournau won the Palme D’Or at Cannes Film Festival for this freaky body horror.
Tumblr media
49.   Underwater – 2020 Two words: Aquatic Horror.
50.   V/H/S – 2021 This anthology series is worth a watch, especially for “The Sick Thing That Happened to Emily When She Was Younger.”
