#thinking about how fatin is so worried about leah's instability and how much she cares about her and how it personally feels diminished#when people ascribe romantic feelings to it...like it feels so much lesser#fatin cares about all the girls so deeply and loves them so fiercely and it's one of the main draws of her to me esp given how it contrasts#with her pre-island self who wouldn't let herself bond with other women because of the effort and emotions it would involve#(I'd argue she doesn't have meaningful relationships with men either but they're 'easier' in that she only seeks those who're content#with just casual sex)#i was open to romantic leatin but the more i rewatch the wilds and the more i see posts from leatin fans the more i begin to dislike it#they way fans treat fatin's relationship to leah...feels like such a disservice to fatin#like relationships in media are supposed to further a character and give them more complexity...leatin feels like it diminishes her#the way fatin treats leah is how she would treat any of the other girls she's bonded with if they were as unstable as her...like god look#at how gently she handles martha and shelby#and i can't get over how fiercely protective she was of rachel (and it KILLS me when people make it out as if her reaction was BECAUSE of#Leah and not like the girl she was actually??? protecting??? her relationship w/ leah plays a role in this ofc but it's so annoying how#quick people ignore Fatin's relationship with Rachel#jfc)#the thing is that martha and shelby have people closer to them so Fatin's not going to be there 100% of the time#meanwhile Fatin and Leah go to the same school so Fatin has this sort of responsibility towards Leah#not that she wouldn't take care of her even without this responsibility but like...Fatin's more obliged to help Leah out due to their#shared background#I'm not looking to lessen Fatin's relationship with Leah tho like from a platonic lens what they have together is so fucking special#but the same thing goes for Fatin's relationships with all the other girls and it literally kills me how 95% of the conversation around her#now is about how she and Leah should get together#at this point Fatin's relationship with literally anyone else is more interesting to me

Eid Mubarak!!!
I hope everyone had a pleasant Eid today, the weather had warmed up just in time on my end! It was very fun and relaxing to just spend time with my cousins and not have to run from open house to open house today, and that's what sorta inspired this piece. I've usually only been drawing just Fatin so I thought I would mix it up by drawing her with her friend Karam. It's been ages since I last drew them so dressing both Karam and Fatin for an Eid piece was fun to do. I wanted to illustrate them as if they were gossiping about the other guests only to pointedly make eye contact with you, the viewer. They were either talking about you or believing you would enjoy this piece of gossip and want to call you over, your choice. Please click on the image - for some reason, Tumblr made the colors a bit dim.
For those who celebrate, I hope everyone had a pleasant Eid al-Fitr. It might have been difficult to enjoy it given recent world events but I hope this day treated you well, that you and your family had a pleasant and relaxing day, and that you all got to eat something yummy.

Chapter One: The Offer
Fatin Jadmani x reader
the wilds band au.
I promise it'll get better I just never know how to start stories. BTW all of their songs will be existing songs in the world from a bunch of different artists. I will be making playlists of songs in each chapter.

Living in L.A there are a lot of bands trying to make it big, get record deals. But The Unsinkables were different, they had an instant draw to them. Talent and charm that couldn't be matched, a stage presence that captured everyone's attention at once. The Unsinkables are also a sapphic band, a band of women for women, they are all of the queer community wrapped around their fingers.
There was Shelby, the bands lead singer and rhythm guitarist. The blonde was known as the sunshine of the group, always smiling and cheering others up. she is also in a relationship with fellow bandmate Toni, who is the Lead guitarist, though hot headed at times she has a heart of gold and will only come after you if you hurt those she cares about.
Dot, the drummer, is everyone’s masc dream. rumored to hook up with fans backstage and at after parties. a stone exterior at first after a life of hurt and disappointment but the softest person when you get to know her.
and then there’s Fatin, the bass player, everyone in the world has a crush on her and basks in the attention. she's hot and she definitely knows it, uses it to her advantage often. pushing lovers away after a day is normal for her, she keeps a lock around her heart for fear of it being broken. she can be icy at first but deep down, she cares deeply.
Shelby walks into the local music center, which is filled with practice rooms and walks through the halls, glancing though the small windows in the doors. Near the end of the hall, she finally finds who she is looking for, y/n, sitting in a room at a piano playing a melody that she seemed to have written, going back and forth between the keys and the paper she was writing notes on as she went. The blonde knocks quietly on the door and you look up to meet her eyes through the glass.
Getting up and opening the door, Shelby gives you a friendly smile. You had known the girl since high school, you were in choir together throughout the years. The friendship has grown quite a lot, you consider each other best friends. though in recent times with her band, the closeness isn’t quite the same, she’s always busy.
“Hi Shelby” you offer her a smile back while making space for her to enter the room.
“Hey, y/n” she seems nervous, picking at her fingernails a bit.
“Is there something wrong?”
“No, not at all. I just had a little question for you.”
“Oh, go ahead.” you couldn’t help but feel nervous too at the question.
“So, my band needs a new keyboard player. and I thought of you.” she must’ve sensed wariness from you and continued quickly, “you don’t have to but maybe you could come to practice, meet the girls, play a couple songs and we can go from there.”
you hesitated a bit, anxious about what the others would think of you especially over a year into their time as a band.
“I don’t know shelbs, what if your band mates don’t want me there. i mean do they even know you’re here right now?”
“Well, not exactly. we floated the idea of a new keyboard player months ago, but no one could agree. our bassist, Fatin, thinks she can handle both instruments at once but with how bass heavy all of our songs are, she’s struggling on stage to switch back and forth. we need you.” the girl explained, a pleading look in her eyes. “Plus, wouldn’t it be nice to see each other more and make music together?”
you smiled softly at the last part, but your brain goes to Fatin, she went to your high school as well, a popular kid so you never spoke to her, but truth be told you always has a fascination with the girl. she was attractive no doubt and she had an undeniable charm to her.
“Fine. one practice” you say sighing. “But I am not agreeing to be in the band yet.” you add on before Shelby gets too excited.
“Yes!” the blonde exclaims. “Be at my house at 6 tonight!"
You watch Shelby walk out the room, smiling at her excitement. You sit back down to get more work done and pass the time until 6 o'clock comes.

" sanji sits against the wall, ankles crossed, immaculate shoe heels tilted and pressed against the tiles to lean his chair back. expert hands guide a pair of chopsticks through his dinner, noodles gathering delicate sips of ginger and scallion broth on the way upward. " i mean, he's got means, motive, aisling's been ruthless since november... maybe he chickened out? the real question is, what's he got to do with the crap that's been happening 'round here? "
tina's glare at the computer screen has eli wondering if he could just go with tim and fatin on their escapades. all the embassies in the world wouldn't frighten him nearly as much as tina does when people don't instantly see things the way she does. in fact, only for kie's recent attendance (this is the first time) he'd have left hours ago. " look. you're new here. so let me wrap it up nice and neat for ya. fiachra's attacked us twice a month ever since we moved here. he schedules it and toys with her in the meantime. since november, we should've had at least five visits. we've had none. "
" what's really bugging me, though... " victor casts a friendly glance at kie. no idea how she's still here when tina's voice could cut through steel. " that footage we had of him and mum on november second. he looked angry. like, properly angry. and she said something. god, what the hell was she saying... whatever it was, it scared him. and she looked confused, so... "
" we've got another month of footage to go through. either that, or we check out those addresses he had in new york. " eli draws in a deep breath through his nose, shoulders squared, wishing tina would be a few steps away so he could hear if she took offence at his different suggestions. " and considering the three of us are too close to mom to be objective, and sanji seems pretty committed to just keeping an eye on us... @freezegirl, what do you think we should do? "

stay at home and watch the rest of the footage to see if fiachra appears again.
involve another member of the squad or family to try and get a fresh perspective.
everyone leaves to examine each of the houses one by one together as a group.
the group splits up into two groups to cover more ground. ( D12 charisma, bc persuading tina will be a challenge! )

i think shelby's been double-agent-ing for a while. like. her whole arc has been about breaking away from "indoctrination", i don't think she'd fall into another form of it again. i think she started planning this when she and fatin realized the whole thing was a set up and were then "rescued". step 1: find out what's going on to maximise chances of escape (even if she doesn't wanna go home, toni does and she loves her) and these guys are clearly not in charge, so... (1/2)
step 2: lie about the island and act unstable (shelby and fatin are the only two girls we've seen straight-up lie to the agents in their interviews) to draw the attention of whoever's in charge here. step 3: get chosen as the new operative, step 4: give leah the note and let her take it from there. step 5: betray gretchen. i think amy's throwing us off and shelby's pretending to go along with gretchen bc she's always been good at knowing what others expect of her & playing to that.(2/2)
Sorry this took me a while to respond to! Got home much later than expected and had to go to the gym this morning since I skipped my workout Friday to watch the show lol
I love this theory! It really makes a lot of sense, because if you rewatch the helicopter rescue, you can see Fatin look at Shelby and they have this knowing glance that this is not right, the timing is too perfect. Shelby mentioned being incredible at escape rooms and there's even a field note that elaborates on that. I totally get that Shelby would be treating the bunker as a fucking escape room! Doing what you said, playing her captors into thinking she's unstable, and susceptible ,and then subverting that to get the girls out! It's masterful really! I really really love this take! Thank you so much for sharing it with me!!
