Peasant Magazine is FREE.
Why? Peasants have no money. Because this is the way the world works. Authors have to give away free short stories in order to grab the attention of readers who are admittedly like old cats who don't want to do anything, but once they find something that they like they're suddenly like kittens on catnip.
I know this because I am a reader too, so I understand the feeling of "I don't want to try reading this book because I might not like it." It is like trying a new vegetable. Am I going to like this new vegetable? Or does it taste like rotten cabbage?
But just like vegetables sometimes what you need is a platter to choose from to sample a tiny bite of each to see which ones you do like.
That's basically what literary magazines are. They're full of short stories for people who want to try bite sized pieces (samples really) from different authors to see which ones they like. If they find something that they like then they might go buy a whole vegetable book and read it. Maybe they will read the whole series of books.
Maybe they will even leave reviews on Amazon or Goodreads about how great the books are.
For the author this means that other people will see those 5 star reviews and possibly make a purchase too, which could lead to more reviews and more readers, and hopefully the author makes enough sales that they continue to write without feeling like they are wasting their time.
And it all comes back to the literary magazine.
So why is Peasant Magazine free?
Well, for starters it has no budget and is nonprofit. It is produced by volunteers and the writers involved are all indie authors who see value in getting their short stories in front of an audience who wants to eat read samples from different sources. Because vegetables books are sometimes yucky yummy.
Learn more about Peasant Magazine at
Where you can eat download the free PDF of Issue #1.
Or you can purchase the 8×11 magazine for $4.99 USD (the price was necessary to cover the printing costs) for those people who prefer to read a physical magazine that they can hold.

I’m putting it here so you can hold me responsible,
I’m going to make Middle Earth fantasy journal, which basically means I’m going to write down my fictional journey through middle earth. It give me a great excuse to rewatch everything though. Not that I actually needed an excuse!

I’ve posted these everywhere else over the past year but I’m very proud of them and there’s more coming soon~!!
Last January I joined my first DND campaign, and honestly I think it was one of the most life-changing things I’ve ever done. The people I’ve met have made me so happy and have inspired my creativity in a way that I thought wasn’t possible anymore.
Truly, a part of me that I thought had been long dead was revived and it’s with the creation of this in-character DND journal that I express just a tiny fraction of the love I have, both for the story we’re creating and the friends I’m creating it with.
Anyway!! This journal is still a work in progress, and watching it grow is a real treat!! <3

Good morning sweetheart. 💓 How is your finger?
Moooorning! 💕 Too sleepy to come up with affectionate pet name right now. 😴 Just pretend I did.
Finger is good. I think it was unbroken after I popped the joint back into place in the midst of my internal panic attack where I thought I was going to die if my finger wasn't straight. It's just sore and very bruised now. Soooo it's healing itself! I'm a natural healer! 😁
Buuuut I was working on my adventure journal but I realized tape is annoying to work with and my air spray glue is for outdoor spaces. But it's too windy outsude so I have no way of gluing my pressed clovers into my book!

Anyone got any advice on how to get these dudes to stick without me getting high on fumes? Or do I just suffer the consequences of the fumes to reach my goal? ✨

Lately, I read something about creating a fantasy journal. I don't want to create a fantasy world, I would do a fake journal for my OC? I could work out how she feels. Maybe add photos or sketches.
I'm juggling this in my head. But it would require handwriting to do it right in my opinion. A fine journal.
It's tempting. Any of you ever kept a fantasy journal?

Write a Journal - world building and character building all in one!
So, I wanted to let my eyes rest from so much screen time today and started a journal. A little notebook I had laying around and some black ink. But I didn’t write a journal of my experiences, instead I wrote a journal from the perspective of one of my characters and her experience learning alchemy.
At first it just seemed fun. I made some changes to my hand writing so it better suited her, made a first page saying “property of... and return to...”
I started doing some world building as I figured out the basics of alchemy.
As I wrote the world became bigger, early on in the journal she writes where to buy containers for potions, in doing so she draws a little map. On the map there is a diner and pub but instead of naming the pub it says “problem pub” and has a little drawing of a knife.
Makes sense given at the time of writing this journal the character would have been captain of the guard, she isn’t going to know the name of every pub in the city but she will remember the pub somebody got stabbed in and in her personal journal make reference to it as such.
It’s world building as I figure out the alchemy system and talk about the effects of different potions on different magical species.
But it’s also character building as the information isn’t objective, there are comments in the margins about how she potions are similar to tea and both taste bad. About how magic shouldn’t be the solution to everything and she brainstorms for other possible solutions.
On the second page there’s a comment about blaming Henry in the scenario that she were to spill potions on the king’s recipe book.
Because the journal is written by a character I know not to be perfect, I don’t mind making mistakes and crossing them out. It gives the journal character.
I highly suggest this as a cool exercise with the bonus of being able to use one of those many empty journals you have sitting around!
As usual,  check out my book, stories I’ve written plus other social medias: here.
Hey! Would you like to learn about the character who wrote this journal (Elizabeth)? She shows up in my book series Dear Dragon, it’s available with the link above but if you don’t want to buy the book, I’m going to be doing ARCs soon for the second, so feel free to sign up under the ARC application form! Thanks a bunch and have fun writing!

They held hands and shared a glint in their eyes. A brief kiss. Sharp and sweet, like rose petals. No words. Just a shared smile and fingers interlaced their night to each other.

Starting my Middle Earth journal with this piece, not adding the text since I’m going to make a bigger arch on another page where I can get the arch more detailed.

I've been working on Two projects that kinds go with eachother, I'm making a fantasy journal for a world I created but I'm also creating a supernatural journal a little bit like John winchesters journal but for me if I was in that universe :)
These both go hand in hand because it's basically for me if I was in those worlds
