#ts4 #simblr #ts4 edit #ts4 render #sims 4 #blood tw #myedits #mb #red #teeth #i have not posted the actual monster boyz since november. november!!!!#did you guys miss them. i missed them #i have not worked on their story at all since the cricket post #i have GOT to get to work on the origin stories. oh well. i'll get to it when i get to it lol #n e way i finally remembered to put red's good eye to the camera lol #whenever i make edits i put red on the other side w/out thinking & all you can see is his blind eye #which is fine except it's near impossible to tell where he is looking which is usually important in my edits #he isn't totally totally blind in that eye. like. he can see shadows & light but it's definitely not clear #i actually just realized i don't think i've ever talked about his blindness before #there is a reason he is blind in that eye but it's a bit complicated. it has to do w his life before the apocalypse #the way mutations work in this universe is a bit weird & hard to explain. like there are several factors that determine one's mutations #for red it's mostly based on his trauma & his psychological state during the time of his mutation #his mutations manifest both physically & emotionally #teeth's are mostly physical bc he yk. got the shit beat out of him before he died. but!#becoming a monster also amplified all of his worst traits! like anger. impulsiveness. violent tendencies. he's basically always starving bc #those feelings act almost like a hunger for him. he craves intensity #cricket's is more complicated bc he is not a full monster. his are almost entirely psychological aside from his arm/bits of their face #& he's able to retain most of his human self up until the end #theirs are trauma based like red's but in a different way. it's more a combination of his anxiety & fears rather than lived trauma #if that makes sense. i'm not very articulate about this stuff sorry lol

OH WAIT there's a witch hunt for the Hellfire club, which means all the boys are in danger from the townspeople. OH WAIT the boy who came back to life has returned from the West, the same boy whose assumed death jumpstarted this small town's curse in the first place! The same boy who apparently everyone and their fathers knew was gay...

THE END IS NEAR! THE GAYS ARE RESPONSIBLE!

+ Time jump early somewhere in between.

Now picture how that would look in an 8 episode story format, leading up to a final battle lasting about 2+ hrs, and that's loosely how s5 is gonna go down.

#byler #enter satanic panic #enter religious imagery #enter small town blaming the apocalypse on two boys falling in love #NO but deadass...#I could see a gradual realization in 5x01 #with them making a plan but then realizing it wont work bc townspeople are hunting down members of hellfire #the whistleblower for the hellfire club in the eyes of the town was jason #and now jason has been found dead #and before he died he told the townspeople that members of hellfire club were protecting eddie...#jason basically signed all of hellfire clubs death certificates #now that citizens are seeing real life impacts as a result of what jason said was caused by these kids playing dnd...#that they're now working for the devil himself #shit is going to get bleak af...#it could get so bleak that something horrible happens instigating a time jump early on #the duffers have said s5 is pretty quick in motion with continuing the events directly after vol 2 #but then they imply that there is a shift after those first two eps...#so i think it's likely we're getting at time jump in time for 5x03 #putting the rest of the season post time jump and preparing for the ultimate final battle #that is my guesstimation at this time

So, having brought up the headcanon that Durge is sustained by Jergal's essence rather than Bhaal's in the "redemption" ending, there are two options.

The first is that since Bhaal's divine essence is technically a loan from Jergal, Jergal has simply taken it back - it's still the essence of death/murder, but not tied to Bhaal's will. Bhaal can no longer force Durge to act to his will. Jergal can but he tends to be more subtle and doesn't pull his puppets' strings until he "needs to". So in this scenatio Durge is as they ever were, but with apparent free reign of themselves.

The other possibility is that Bhaal fully removed himself from Durge and it was replaced by Jergal's divine essence as God of Fatalism [+orderly death/order in death, proper burial, guardian of tombs, and protection of the names of the dead]. Considering the soul is tied to Bhaal's essence... is this the same soul? The body is still of Bhaal's flesh, it contains his essence still, but it may turn out that this is actually a brand new divine soul shaping itself to the memories...

Regardless of whichever scenario this is, Durge is tied to Jergal rather than Bhaal. Whereas Bhaalspawn are dragged off to Gehenna to join Bhaal, it's most likely that Durge is tied to the Grey Wastes or the Fugue Plane and upon death will disintegrate and possibly reform there.

What are the side effects? Do they stay the same as the regular murderous faire, or are we looking at new ones that come from carrying around a portion of the god of fatalism, causing Durge to manifest his traits?

Has the urge to slay been replaced by a distressing propensity for dead, creepy calm?

Does Durge have an innate connection to the Negative Energy plane now?

Predicting the deaths and afterlives of people you make eye contact with? Can they catch glimpses of a person's life and deeds as a kind of casting divine judgement upon the soul thing?

Bhaalspawn life draining effects wouldn't change much, even though Durge doesn't display any in game.

Do they creep out the living and cause fatigue with their very presence?

I hope they still say weird shit, but instead of the usual murder-murder-murder it's announcing dark fates upon people in the flattest, most indifferent voice ever. Like "thy wheel of fate turns ever to the dark" while there's a party going on about you. - like this: "[Jergal's] tone was deceptively bland and his demeanor excessively formal, even if his words portended horrors unimaginable."

...Ironically Durge is still the vessel of a god obsessed with the end of the world; Jergal just happens to be cataloguing it as it happens, accepting it at its own pace, rather than actively painting the world red. And he expects no grandkids, which is a massive plus.

#Strangely I think this adoption will work out nicely for Vel who gets to retain his morbidity and obsession with death/the apocalypse #As I typed this I realised I gave my Durge lightless black eyes that sound like portals to that plane #I am now making a note to make his eyes actual windows into the Plane of Death.#/durge #/withers #headcanoning.#babbling
