I think that person is talking about a twitter discussion about Eruri being an Erwin centric ship where Levi is mostly reduced to being his love interest and a side character and I am surprised by that discussion because it sounded like they were experiencing this for the first time while I strongly believe that it applies to every ship? I remember Zutara being extremely popular when I was a kid and it has always been mostly a Zuko centric ship. I have 2 other anime ships I am actually embarrassed of xD and they are like that, too. Eruri fandom has its issues imo (wasn't there a person who was "exposing" people for liking Levi more than Erwin like it makes them fake Eruri shippers hahahahaha and a small part of the fandom belittles and argues with other Levi ships) but in general Eruri fandom is huge and there are all kinds of people and fics and arts and actually this leads me to another question because it blew my mind, Lost and I'd like to know what you think but recently on twitter someone pointed out that Erwin's character changes a lot from Junior High to canon to other canon-ish materials and maybe I'm dumb but I just realized this but oh my god it's actually true. It's interesting that Levi and Hange and Mikasa and all other characters mostly stay the same while Erwin goes from ruthless to sweet dad jokes to playful etc how interesting! It makes me wonder what kind of person Erwin was before commandership weighed on him. Imagine young cadet Erwin meeting thug Levi xD
The first half of this Anon refers to this ask that I replied to recently. I'm going to break this down because there's a lot going on here.

While I agree that it's common for fans to have a favourite, I don't think that necessarily means that the other character has to be reduced to a "love interest" or "side character". Personally speaking I can't imagine shipping two characters unless I was fully invested in both of them. And when it comes to Erwin and Levi, if anyone is reducing Levi to a love interest and a side character then I'd suggest they're missing one of the main points of their relationship which is that it's mutual and equal.

Exactly. This point can't be repeated too often. The fandom is large and diverse and people have very different opinions on characterisation and relationships.
It's interesting that Levi and Hange and Mikasa and all other characters mostly stay the same while Erwin goes from ruthless to sweet dad jokes to playful etc how interesting!
I can't comment on Junior High because I've never watched it (one of these days I'll get round to it) but Erwin's character does evolve significantly from the start of the manga to Midnight Sun, and the supplementary materials, such as the official guidebooks and Smartpass content lend even more depth and nuance to an already complex character. This is partially explained by the fact that Isayama admitted that he didn't have a good grasp on Erwin's character when he first started drawing him. There's a very insightful interview with Isayama from 2016, translated by @darkcyradis, where he talks about his inspiration for Levi, Erwin and Hanji.
Levi has the easily understood moniker of “Humanity’s Strongest Soldier.” But Erwin doesn’t have anything of the kind. He’s the leader of the Survey Corps, is respected by all, and is an insightful leader.* That was my image of him as well, but on the flip side, that was all I had on him.
... for Erwin, there’s no person I can easily compare him to like that.
The main reason for that is probably because I didn’t have anyone in my life who was an “insightful leader” like my initial portrayal of Erwin. Of course, I’m sure there were people who were “insightful leaders” to a certain degree around me, but—and this is likely due to a quirk of my own personality—the grander a person, the more my eyes are drawn to the places where they’re frayed, or are coming apart at the seams.
Armin once said of him, “If a person existed who was capable of bringing change, they would have to be able to sacrifice things that are important to them.”
Erwin is certainly someone who can do that, but because I had no one in reality to model him on, and because I, the creator, had no shred of an “insightful leader” within myself to use either, I think I ended up making Erwin more and more human as I went along.
... Lately, though, I’ve started enjoying drawing Erwin. To put it simply, I think it’s because I am now able to write Erwin not as the “insightful leader,” but as he is inside my heart, an Erwin who is very complex inside.
It makes me wonder what kind of person Erwin was before commandership weighed on him.
I think we can get a glimpse of the kind of man Erwin might have been in Isayama's highschool AU where he appears rather sweet and dorky ♡

In Fleisher's final story, "Scavenger of Souls", the bio-chips are reintroduced via an alien 'soul collector'.įleischer was replaced with Steve White, who made the military aspect of the strip more up-to-date and tried to reconcile the two versions of the character.
A new ongoing series featuring Friday followed, written by American writer Michael Fleisher. The bio-chips were dropped, and Gibbons concentrated on the politics and economics of war and the sinister nature of the genetic engineering involved. In "The War Machine", Gibbons and artist Will Simpson created a different war, set on a different planet, starring a different Genetic Infantryman, this time called Friday. John Smith wrote a 'flashback' story, "Cinnabar", set in Rogue's deserter days, before original series artist Dave Gibbons returned to write a much more radical revamp of the character. Simon Geller took over, reinventing the character as an intergalactic hitman attempting to end the war by assassinating key figures, but this new direction was dropped in 1989. had his final confrontation with the traitor general and, after a brief further run set on the Planet Horst, Finley-Day ceased writing the strip. This quest continued from 1981 until 1985, when the G.I.
Artists to have drawn the character include Brett Ewins, Cam Kennedy and Colin Wilson. Gibbons left the strip early on, to be replaced by a succession of artists and writers who have taken the strip in several different directions over the years. The character has also featured in a number of 2000 AD crossovers. The original character returned in 1999 and all stories since then have featured the original Rogue. This version of the character last appeared in 1996. The series was rebooted in 1989 in the story "The War Machine", featuring a new version of the character called Friday. It portrays the adventures of a " Genetic Infantryman" named Rogue and three uploaded minds mounted on his equipment, who search for the Traitor General. Rogue Trooper is a science fiction strip in the British comic 2000 AD, created by Gerry Finley-Day and Dave Gibbons in 1981.

SHORT STORIES 5 - A l’abri de la pluie : Edition spéciale - Erwin et Livaï (5/5)

Les portes vermoulues du château
La brèche dans le mur en pierre qui encerclait le château servait d’accès à l’intérieur de l’enceinte. Les portes en bois, pourries mais solides, gisaient à terre.
A certains endroits, des parties du toit étaient accrochées à ces portes, et la muraille était parsemée de prises permettant de grimper jusqu’à son sommet. En hauteur, il avait des ouvertures dissimulées pour pouvoir tirer des flèches.
C’était la preuve que, par le passé, un grand nombre d’hommes s'étaient fait la guerre. Cela remontait certainement loin en arrière, au temps où des chevaliers en armure se battaient les uns contre les autres.
« Qu’est-ce que tu regardes ? »
Une voix dans son dos interpella Erwin. Celui-ci regardait droit devant lui le paysage extérieur depuis une des meurtrières.
« C’est toi, Livaï ? Comment se porte Eren ?
- Je l’ai laissé sous la surveillance de mon escouade. Voici le document d’autorisation de la part d’Hansi.
- Tout va bien alors. » répondit Erwin.
Ses yeux bleus restaient fixés sur le paysage au dehors.
« Là-bas... se trouve la route qui mène à la Capitale royale, n’est-ce pas ? demanda Livaï.
- Oui. Si nous devons un jour combattre la monarchie, cet endroit pourra servir de point stratégique.
- Ha… Je ne vais pas rire, même si c’est une blague. »
Livaï haussa les épaules et s’avança pour regarder par une autre meurtrière, à côté de celle qui servait de poste d’observation à Erwin. Il ajouta :
« Normalement, le cas d’Eren devrait attirer l’attention de la Capitale. Nous sommes dans une position où nous devons nous abstenir de tenir des propos déplacés.
- Si c’est toi qui le demandes, personne ne trouvera rien à redire.
- … Tu dis toujours ce que tu as envie de dire. »
Il arrivait encore souvent à Livaï de ne pas comprendre lui-même la conduite d’Erwin… Cependant, parce que ses décisions entraînaient toujours les meilleurs résultats, il croyait en lui et le suivait.
Ce type… Si cela s’avérait nécessaire pour défaire l’humanité de ses chaînes, il serait même prêt à se tourner contre le roi. Pfff.
Tout en formulant ces pensées dans sa tête, Livaï observait l’expression d’Erwin du coin de l’œil.
Il est prêt à donner sa vie pour libérer l’humanité - et non pas pour le roi ou les autorités.
« Ton cas est vraiment intéressant. Même si tu es né dans une famille normale, tu plonges volontairement la tête la première dans cet enfer rempli de titans dans le seul but de libérer l’humanité.
- Il n’y a pas que les gens nés dans la pauvreté qui sont mécontents de la situation actuelle. Pour ma part, actuellement, l’existence à l’intérieur des murs ressemble à un emprisonnement.
- Tsss, tu tiens le même discours que ce gamin.
- Tu parles d’Eren ? Selon le rapport, avant la chute du mur Maria, il disait ce genre de choses : Passer sa vie entière derrière les murs revient à vivre comme du bétail.
- Je comprends moi aussi ce point de vue… dit Livaï en soupirant. Pfff, parfois il ressemble à un monstre… Ses yeux ressemblent à ceux d’une bête féroce à la poursuite du gibier. Il a aussi une dent contre les titans. Mais, par-dessus tout, c’est son mécontentement vis-à-vis de la situation actuelle qui brûle le plus dans son regard – son mécontentement vis-à-vis d’une société qui l’empêche d’aller de l’autre côté des murs, ainsi que sa frustration de se sentir désemparé et incapable de changer les choses.
- Donc, je suis comme lui ?
- Parfois.
- Ainsi, tu veux dire que j’ai l’air plutôt jeune parce que j’ai le même regard que cette jeune recrue ? » demanda Erwin en riant.
L’expression sur son visage quand il se mettait à rire le faisait ressembler à un petit garçon. Livaï répondit en fronçant les sourcils :
« Ce n’est pas un compliment.
- Je sais. »
Cependant, il le suivra.
Erwin finit par détacher son regard du paysage extérieur pour poser les yeux sur le visage de Livaï. Ce dernier leva la tête pour regarder l’homme plus grand que lui.
« En effet, bientôt cette pluie déprimante cessera. On dirait bien qu’un vent nouveau commence à souffler... »
Ainsi, les deux illustres hommes du Bataillon d’exploration attendaient que la pluie s’arrête. Les ailes de la liberté dans leur dos étaient trempées et elles brillaient avec d’autant plus d’éclat.

It was already close to 8pm when you reached home, five whole hours later than what it was supposed to be. You couldn't wait to change out of your stuffy formal wear and soak in a hot bubble bath, you couldn't wait to eat dinner, and you couldn't wait to see your husband.
Unlocking your main door, you were greeted with a strong fragrance of cocoa, a clean and dust-free living room, and a mesmerising view of your husband standing in the kitchen wearing a white tank top and light grey sweat pants, seemingly engrossed in something. He heard the rattling of keys and turned around, smiling widely upon seeing you. You laughed out loud when you saw how he had cocoa powder staining the front of his tank top and his cheeks had traces of flour. His usually neatly combed blonde hair was looking a little messy with his fringe falling over his eyes.
"What are you doing?" You asked cheerily, removing your footwear and entering the kitchen, looking into the oven.
"I'm baking you a chocolate cake, sweetheart," Erwin smiled, pulling you into a tight hug and softly kissing your crown, swaying you on the spot. Inhaling the scent of your hair, Erwin released you from the hug and pat your cheek. "It should be done in another 20 minutes or so. Do you want to take a shower first?" Your husband walked to the kitchen counter and poured you a glass of water, placing it on the dining table for you. You shook your head, jumping into Erwin's arms instead.
Erwin was caught by surprise, letting out a small 'ooh!' but still securely hugging you nonetheless. One arm was around your waist while the other supported your butt. You interlocked your legs around your husband's waist and wrapped your hands around his neck, bringing him close to you.
"Hey, sweetheart, my top's dirty. Your blouse is go—" you hushed him with a finger to his lips instead.
"Who cares about that? Just let me feel you," you closed your eyes and hummed, snuggling against the crook of Erwin's neck. The both of you remained like this, you revelling in Erwin's warmth while he gently pat your back, the fragrant smell of cocoa and butter enveloping the kitchen. You briefly loosened your arms around Erwin's neck, gently cupping his cheeks.
"How did you get flour and cocoa powder all over yourself though?" You chuckled, wiping some of the flour on his cheeks away. Ewin looked away embarrassed, locking his eyes on a small corner on the kitchen floor instead.
"Umm—well, Cappuccino thought it was a good idea to pounce on Albus while he was drinking water and—" Erwin let out a small cough, turning you towards the corner he was looking at. "I'll clean it up later." You turned your head around to look at your two mischief makers lying in their doggy beds, acting like nothing happened. You let out another hearty laugh, imagining the chaos that happened while you were at work.
"I'll help you later," you looked back at your husband again and brought his face closer to yours, kissing him full on the lips halfway through your laughter. The both of you remained lip-locked, Erwin mirroring your smile as he carded his fingers through your hair and tightened his hold around you. Even when the oven started chiming, the both of you never broke away from each other, kissing like it was your last moment on Earth.
"The cake's done, sweetheart," Erwin gently said as he broke the kiss, smiling as he pecked your forehead. Your eyes remain closed as you tried to even out your breathing. Wow, you thought. That was some kiss. You nodded your head in acknowledgement, smiling as you kissed your husband again and again, looking forward to the sweet treat he baked.

AU — Tasmania. An event expected to host “an expert panel of speakers for an afternoon discussing the impact of” gender identity on “women, children and transgender people” has raised the ire of two City Councillors. The young legislators are condemning the panel, scheduled to take place at Town Hall, as the platforming of “fascist” and “hateful views” of “TERFs” by the city. One of the Councillors additionally slammed women as “foul hags” for asking whether children should receive therapy before puberty blockers or hormones are prescribed
Gender Identity In Law, which is to be chaired by Sall Grover, the founder and CEO of the girl- and women-only social app Giggle, will take place on Saturday, 28 August between 1:00-3:00PM at Hobart Town Hall in Tasmania.
The event is a joint effort by Save Women’s Sport, the Coalition for Biological Reality, Women Speak Tasmania and the LGB Alliance. Scheduled panelists are Claire Chandler, Senator for Tasmania; Katherine Deves, a lawyer and co-founder Save Women’s Sport Australasia; Dianne Kenny, professor and author of Gender Dysphoria in Children and Young People; Pauley Johnston, described on the event flyer as a “trans community member” of the Coalition for Biological Reality; Patrick Parkinson, professor at the University of Queensland TC Beirne School of Law; and Holly Lawford-Smith, associate professor of political philosophy at University of Melbourne.
“Our law protects gender identity instead of biological sex,” reads a Gender Identity In Law event flyer. “This means men can be women and women can be men by virtue of a person’s declaration. What does this mean in society? Biology and sex matter. This forum begins the discussion of the implications and impacts when treating men as women and women as men.”
Amongst those taking umbrage about the panel are Jax Ewin, City Councillor to nipaluna / Hobart, whose social media profile describes her as a “queer non-binary SJW” and “enemy of the state.”
She critiqued the city in a Facebook status dated 11 July: “Very unimpressed to see @cityofhobarttas platforming exclusive and hateful views of TERFs. Goes against all our community and safety strategies, as well as our Community Vision document. Let’s see what if anything can be done about it.”
Several people challenged her post.
“How is women speaking on their rights hate speech? Does your blatant misogyny count as hate speech as well? Stop trying to shut up women,” one wrote.
“Hateful views of TERFs? Please explain how standing up for biological women is now hateful?,” asked another. “Calling women who don’t believe being a woman is an identity and that you cannot change your biological sex slurs such as TERFs is hate speech.”
Ben Moroney, a member of Campbelltown City Council for the Greens who describes himself as “openly non-binary,” came to the defense of Ms Ewin’s status under his alternate Facebook account, Ben Them, where he identifies himself with feminine pronouns.
He wrote to a woman, “gods I wish transphobes had problems being heard in mainstream media.”
Mr Moroney, an avowed anti-capitalist, insisted there is a conspiracy between “TERFs,” the mainstream media, “transphobic politicians (many of whom are on the political right…),” authors and academics, whose “intention is for trans people to not exist, to be forced out of society, to be denied healthcare and support, to be denied the rights to identify and live as our true selves and driven to self-harm and suicide.”
Asked by a woman for an example of “ONE policy that GC [gender-critical] people advocate for that would cause trans people to ‘not exist’,” Mr Moroney simply replied, “conversion therapy.”
Asked to explain what he meant by “conversion therapy,” Mr Moroney responded: “Trans conversion therapy is psychological intervention entered into (either forcibly or as part of gatekeeping of transgender healthcare) with the assumption that being transgender is incorrect, undesirable or inherently wrong, with the purpose or goal of dissuading someone from adopting or exploring a transgender identity. It is something that is advocated and lobbied for by many major TERF organisations, particularly British ones.”
“Have you read up on Keira Bell’s story?” a woman asked Mr Moroney. Ms Bell was prescribed puberty blockers at age 16, and testosterone a year later, and underwent a double mastectomy at the age of 20. While de-transitioning at the age of 23, Ms Bell said, “I don’t believe children and young people can consent to the use of powerful, experimental hormone drugs like I did.” The UK High Court agreed with Ms Bell in a landmark 1 December 2020 ruling.
“What do you think a young person who feels badly misled by transgender ideology should do when they realise they’ve made irreversible changes to their body under the influence of people they went to for help with their confusion?” the Facebook commenter asked Mr Moroney.
“What they don’t need is to be FORCED into ‘therapy’ designed to convince them they aren’t trans before you allow them healthcare,” Mr Moroney retorted.
Ending the exchange, Mr Moroney wrote: “Anyway, I’ve spent about as much time arguing with trans-exclusive fascists as I care to tonight, have fun being awful, you foul hags.”
A 23 June post shows Ms Ewin denouncing as “TERF hate” a large sticker featuring the definition of the word ‘girl’ as female child and the definition of ‘woman’ as adult human female. She reassured: “Don’t worry, I fixed it.” Attached to the post is an image of the sticker, which had been defaced in black marker with the words “citation needed” and both definitions crossed out.
To promote the art work of Hera Direen, a male, transgender-identifying individual who launched the chuffed campaign’s TERF Wars, Ms Ewin posted an image of herself wearing a shirt with the words ‘Hi I’m a TERF #female” scribbled on the front.
In late May, Ms Ewin came under police investigation for connecting to a council meeting via Zoom while driving.
Since in office, Ms Ewin has been the subject of numerous Code of Conduct complaints, one of which she unironically claims was for suggesting “two colleagues […] should vote based on evidence instead of ideology.” She admits she has been “point of ordered two or three times,” which she claims was “for describing discrimination.” She ran as an Independent in a recent campaign following a dust-up with her Greens colleagues.
Ms Deves is defending the panel on which she is to appear, insisting that “criticism of gender identity ideology,” “sex-based language” and “women discussing their concerns” and “fighting for their rights” is not harmful.
She denied that women are in any position to oppress and marginalize those who identify as transgender.
“This ‘vulnerable’ group receives millions in funding from Australian governments, corporations and billionaire philanthropists; This ‘vulnerable’ group had a billboard pulled down in NZ in 24 hours because apparently the existence of women is ‘upsetting’.”
Ms Deves finds the issue of male athletes in women’s sports a pressing issue of our times. “Women and girls paying the price” for “average, aged out and failed men have found an avenue to be sports champions and feted as brave and stunning,” she tweeted.
“Calling women and women’s groups ‘hateful’ because they acknowledge the reality of biological doesn’t work anymore.”

A small request :) S/o wants to join survery corps but is deaf. So disappointed that she was rejected but determined to get a place she goes on a special tour to find her a spot, and ewin decides to make her levi's personal assistant. Levi dismisses the idea of her help, but S/o is persistent lingering around him/ trying to help him regularly, soon he accually really enjoys her company and is protective as she treats him like a friend and S/o even catches him trying to learn basic sign language.
This is such a good idea, I love it!
“I’m sorry, you didn’t make the cut.” Y/N’s training commander signed with a solemn expression, she felt a heavy weight settle in her stomach. It was because she was deaf, she knew it. If only she could hear, then maybe they’d see she wasn’t useless. She scowled at the commander, balling her hands into fists and furiously signing back, “I was willing to give my life, isn’t that enough, just because I can’t hear doesn’t mean I-” She stopped signing, her hands falling to her sides as she heaved a heavy sigh, why bother anymore? All she was was a mockery to everyone, dedication didn’t matter in this industry after all. She turned to leave, but was stopped by the commander of her desired regiment, Erwin Smith.
Erwin smiled at her, a genuine, warm smile. Something she rarely received. He spoke to the commander, who spoke back, before Erwin signed to her. “I understand that you are willing to give your life, while it may not ideal to have you out there as a soldier, would you consider joining us at the Headquarters on my personal request?” She blinked at the commander, processing this information. “Is she dumb too?” Levi asked, she shot him a glare before turning to Erwin. “Please let the short one know that I am capable of lip reading, sir. And yes, I would be honored.” Erwin laughed, relaying this information to Levi before signing back, “Welcome to the Survey Corps.”
For her first day, Y/N was busied about all sectors of the HQ, from Hange’s lab to the kitchens, and as much as these jobs were vital, none suited her quite as well as helping Captain Levi. To Levi’s disdain, that’s the exact job she got: Captain Levi’s Personal Assistant, and she secretly couldn’t have been happier. Contrary to popular opinion, Levi wasn’t the most prepared, he spent most of his day doing paperwork, only to jump up and curse about only having a few minutes to get to his meeting, luckily, Y/N was on hand with his papers and jacket, ready to go. Levi rolled his eyes, anyone could be a coat hanger, he didn’t need some girl Erwin took pity on to do it.
By the second week, he had warmed up to her. She was surprisingly good at making tea, she kept everywhere clean and organised and she kept Levi on schedule, even if there were a few lip-reading miscommunications. This gave Levi an idea. “Four eyes.” He greeted, sitting on Hange’s lab bench, “I need you to teach me to sign.” Hange grinned a mischievous grin before shoving her research to the side. “You warmed up to her, didn’t you?” Her eyes glinted, she almost looked Evil as she leaned across the table, “But don’t worry, I won’t tell a soul, shorty!” She changed so quickly that is almost caught him off-guard, “Lesson one, greetings.”
By the fourth week he was ready, he wasn’t fluent but he was okay. Y/N had begun to get a little frustrated, he was always in Hange’s lab and had started being late. He was being weird, and she didn’t mean crude and blunt, but on edge. Maybe life as Humanity’s Strongest had finally made him crack. She stood waiting in his office, tea in hand, for him to enter after his first meeting. The door opened and there he stood, moving his hand to say “Hello.” Y/N couldn’t help but gape as he continues to sign, “I figured doing all the work to communicate all the time is boring, having to lip read and write shit down, so I am learning to sign.” She almost cried as he signed this, maybe he didn’t hate her after all, she so badly wanted to be helpful to him, “Now, I hope there is tea for two, you are my friend, after all.”
