*bangs fists on table* haikyuu and food!!!!!!!! and how furudate uses it to illustrate the varying levels of drive different characters have!!!!
so, context (chp 213), this panel is hinata narrating as he's walking to the bus stop after day 2 of the first years training camp. he was told a few hours ago by washijo that he's not allowed to stay for meals or to sleep over, but since then he's been diligently watching the other players who were invited—he stays late after the regular hours of the camp for extra practice as a ball boy not a spiker/player. and the FIRST thing we see once he's done playing is four whole pages of how hungry he is and what should he do about it, and not just to literally feed his physical hunger but also in order to become a better player!!! food is muscle!!
all of that is so so good and makes me crazy but what i wanna talk about real quick is just this little panel. (1 i love that hinata is even thinking about whether tsukki is eating, he's probably half jealous wishing he could eat those wasted leftovers, and half actually worried whether he's eating) But mostly it's the "he'll leave stuff if nobody's watching to make sure he does [clean his plate]" line that i think is extra effective here
it's so small in comparison to the rest of hinata's hunger narration, but i love that furudate does take a moment to acknowledge that not all of the players are as hungry as hinata! and by using tsukki, someone who we know is less passionate and driven than a lot of the other characters—who earlier in this chapter refused to do extra practice, while hinata accepted it—as the example of someone who eats less, it just further emphasizes furudate's point that it isn't just physical hunger we're talking about here. hunger=desire, drive, passion
and then the bit about tsukki only finishing when someone's watching is a great piece of characterization and insight into his current volleyball mindset—tsukki doesn't like to eat a lot. tsukki only puts in the minimum effort necessary. tsukki will get away with less if no one is looking—in life and on the court. and none of this is new info either, hinata has been eating a ton since the beginning of the series and tsukki has been eating less (there's the scenes at tokyo camp of the third years trying to get him to eat more, or if you ever look his plate in any eating scene his portion is way smaller than everyone else's, despite him being a lot bigger than them) and furudate chooses now, when hinata is at the biggest developmental crossroads of his life to start to really start to shine a light on the theme!!
then of course hunger is contagious too and eventually during camp tsukki does stay for extra practice, he specifically invites hinata to practice with him, and even though tsukki questions himself, he does it anyway (chp 214)
Tumblr media
and eventually, eventually, tsukki does start to get hungry too (chps 283 & 284, right to left)
Tumblr media
it's not 'ugh i'm so tired i want to stop,' it's 'ugh im so tired, i wish i had enough to keep going' which isn't too far of a jump to him saying 'i like this, i want to keep going' !! which of course, he does admit to volleyball being fun the next day during the next match, thanks to everyone who helped him get there, including hinata and his contagious, never ending hunger
food is volleyball, volleyball is fun and volleyball is connection, connection is love
it was never just about food!!!!!!!!

Hi......If you don't mind, can I ask, what are your top 10 (or top 7) favorite media (can be books/ manga/ anime/movies/tv series/video games)? Why do you love them? Sorry if you've answered this question before......Thanks....
whaaa that's such a fun question, thank you so much for asking!!!!!!
hmmm, since I'm a very terrible person with deciding things, would you mind if I give you top 5 mangas and top 5 books?? I feel like focusing on them, it will be easier for me and I'll be able to talk more about them!!
ok so in no particular order, here are my:
top 5 mangas
ikoku nikki, by tomoko yamashita
I think I fell in love with this manga the second I start to read. it's just incredibly well written, with beautiful characters that are well developed and well explored. yamashita is one of my favorite authors of all time, so I could go on and on about how much I love her writing.
it's a beautiful story about personal connections, grief and future!
shimanami tasogare, by yuuki kamatani
this story is a safe space for me. not only because I love the way it's written and the way it's developed, but it was a huge help for me in my process of self discovering and acceptance of my demissexuality. I will forever be grateful for what this story brought me and all the tears I shed reading it
skip to loafer, by misaki tamakatsu
I think it's already obvious that sukirofa would be on the list OIFJASOJF. I just think it's a gorgeous story that focus a lot on self discovery, growing up and platonic love. I absolute love the "I love you as a person" message that it evoques. I wish there was a story like this when I was a teenager...
haikyuu!!, by haruichi furudate
haikyuu have a deep, deep place in my heart and it's a story I will cary with me forever. it's one of the reasons why I came back to the internet to share thoughts and one of the reasons why I made so many beautiful friends, but also it changed me for the better and it was with me on difficult times. everyone should read it, tbh.
blue period, by tsubasa yamaguchi
one of the reasons why blue period is so important to me is because yatora is a character that resonates A LOT with me. reading it for the first time was like being punched on the face multiple times because I saw a lot of me on it and a lot of my struggles and self doubts. yatora will forever be a character that is extremely important to me.
bonus: "I want to be a wall", by honami shirono and "hibari no asa", by tomoko yamashita
top 5 books
the white book, by Han kang
han kang is one of my favorite authors. I absolute love her writing and, as a writer myself, she inspires me a lot. I find this book to be absolute gorgeous. never in my life I read something that talks about grief and loneliness such as this book. gorgeous, from beginning to end.
the bell jar, by sylvia plath
this book was very important for me growing up. I feel that I picked it up at the right moment of my life and it just stayed with me forever. the fig scene is something that I think about constantly and reflect a lot on it. I feel that I should reread it now that I'm way older.
meu desconhecimentos, by eliane brum
i'm so sorry to say, but I don't think this book was ever translated to english...but I would love to talk about it a little. it was first introduced to me by my therapist and it stayed with me since the moment I started reading it. I resonate a lot with eliane's trajectory with writing and she inspire me a lot too.
the unwomanly face of war, by svetlana alexievich
this book is non fictional and it covers the soviet women who fought on WWII. this book impacted me so much that I still remember vividly scenes from it. it's not an easy book to read and it's extremely graphic, but it definitely left a mark on me.
the good son, by you-jeong jeong
I wouldn't say this book is one of my favorites of all time, but I doo catch myself recommending it A LOT, so it would be weird not to include here. it's a great, great narrative with a highly unreliable narrator that manages to convince you from beginning to end. it's not an easy read as well, since it's a very slow one and can be repetitive.
WELL!!! I think that's it?? idk I feel like every time someone asks me about my favorite something my mind goes blank OIFJASIOJF but I hope I was able to answer your question 💛 thank you for asking!!

Round 1 Summary
Round 1 is over, folks! Thanks so much for voting!
I'm not gonna lie, this tournament has been kind of a hassle to set up, but seeing your propaganda and your comments in the tags have made it so worth it! Seriously, y'all are hilarious.
I won't be listing the results of every matchup here, you can look at the round masterposts for that, but I will highlight some of the more notable matches.
Closest Matches
Behemo Barisol vs Crimson: 50/50 Somehow, we ended up having a perfect tie on Round 1-A of the Higher Bracket! That's only the first day of voting! Isn't that amazing? Behemo and Crimson will both move on to round 2 and will go against The Forest Spirit in a three-way poll!
The Smiling God vs Saiki Kusuo: 49.1/50.9 With just a .8% difference, Saiki K. managed to pull through! And on the Night Vale website no less! Great job Saiki! Your friends are probably very proud, though you probably don't enjoy all this attention,,,, sorry!
Mare Incubus vs Mianite: 50.4/49.6 Would ya look at that, Mare Incubus made it to round 2! I honestly didn't think he would get this far, considering the fact that he's the protagonist of a Norwegian book series that had never been translated to English. All that propaganda certainly paid off! Great job, Mare!
Jake English vs Mythra: 49.5/50.5 I honestly didn't think this match would be so close! I'm not sure who I thought the favorite would be, but I certainly didn't think they would almost tie! Sorry Jake, looks like your Hope powers weren't strong enough to get you the win. You still have a long way to go on your journey, young Page. As for Mythra, well, I don't know much about Xenoblade, so here's what my friend has to say about her win: "I see mythra won and therefore everyone is correct"
Biggest Sweeps
The Great God Om vs Feena: 86.8/13.2 I'm so sorry for this matchup, Feena. I genuinely underestimated how popular Discworld was! Feena will have another chance at victory in the losers bracket. Maybe this time, she'll have a fair shot at victory.
Rosalina vs Scaramouche: 81.1/18.9 As a Genshin fan, I think it's very funny that Scaramouche lost this hard. I'm glad we can all agree that he's truly a small, sad little wet noodle. Also, fun fact, I beat his boss fight first try. Get rekt you pathetic little man.
Shade Lord vs Ozpin: 80.8/19.2 Ya know what, I get it. Shade Lord does look pretty cool. Perhaps this was an unfair matchup. To be honest, I kind of thought RWBY's popularity would make this unfair for Shade Lord.
Dianite vs Alecto: 18.6/81.4 Yeah, I should've seen this coming. Once again, I didn't know how popular The Locked Tomb was when I made the bracket! I'm so sorry Dianite, but you still have a second chance in the losers bracket!
Anoia vs Xanu: 80.3/19.7 RIP Xanu, I'm not caught up on Fool's Gold so I don't know what your deal is, but you will be missed.
Four vs Alter: 18.8/81.2 I just wanna say, every single picture of Four I found was absolutely hilarious. I've never seen Battle for Dream Island, but I can tell that Four would probably be my favorite character if I did. Well, see you in the losers bracket, Four!
The Prophet's Personal Highlights
Bill Cipher vs Madoka Kaname: 35.8/64.2 Honestly, it was so funny to see everyone rooting for Madoka to beat Bill's ass in the tags. In other, unrelated news, Bill Cipher was found dead in Miami. Oops, I wonder who could've done that!
The Glow Cloud vs Q: 70.4/29.6 I honestly thought this would be closer, considering how popular Star Trek is. This matchup definitely surprised me. Also, my mom was very upset about Q's loss. She's very disappointed in you all.
Venti/Lord Barbatos vs Void Termina: 32.9/67.1 Alas, my poor blorbo! As poll runner, there was nothing I could do to sway opinions in Venti's favor, for I must remain impartial! It hurts to see my favorite silly little guy lose, but at least we still have the losers bracket.
The Harvest Goddess vs Hanyuu Furude: 51.2/48.8 Yet another blorbo, gone too soon! Hanyuu, you're the best in my heart. Unfortunately, this match was too close to allow Hanyuu to qualify for the losers bracket, so this was her only chance. Hanyuu, you will be missed.
Starclan vs Featherine Augustus Aurora: 67.4/32.6 I've never played Umineko, but I have some friends who have, and, well. We all voted for Starclan. To think, Starclan is so powerful that even Umineko fans voted against Featherine. Ah, well. She still has another shot with the losers bracket.
And that's it for the round recap!
So, what now? Well, on Thursday I will start the Losers Bracket! Tomorrow I'll release the bracket so you can get your propaganda ready.

Hi....Do you mind if I ask your top 10 favorite anime (can be series or movies) or top 10 favorite manga? And why do you love them? Also, what are your top 5 (or top 7) favorite moments from any anime (can be series or movies) or manga that you loved?
Sorry if I ask too much, feel free if you want to answer both of my questions or just pick either one......Thanks....
aaaahh no i'm so honored to be asked something like this!! these are REALLY hard questions tho LMAO like holy shit i STRUGGLED. i ended up choosing the series/moments that left me with the greatest emotional impact or were really formative during my younger years. this turned into a really long and wordy post so uhhh sorry about that, I would have added more pics but they couldn't all be the same size so i gave up LMAO. Anyways let's get into it!!
TOP 10 ANIMANGA SERIES/MOVIES (in no particular order)
I. HAIKYUU!!
I wouldn't be much of a Haikyuu!! fan if this wasn't number one on the list (even though I said they were in no particular order, haha). With how the anime adaptation is coming along, I do absolutely recommend reading the manga. Aside from the fact that the art is just gorgeous, I love how Furudate puts so much care into the characters and story. The symbolism and poetic one-liners that have no business being in a sports manga are fucking fantastic, the development is great, everyone gets a happy and fulfilling ending, and it all wraps up like an emotional sucker punch to the stomach. I also LOVE that there's so much canon material for fans to play around with, and that there's so much left to the imagination. Haikyuu!! really is just a master class in storytelling and a total dream to analyze.
II. THE NIGHT BEYOND THE TRICORNERED WINDOW
Okay, I lied earlier. I just HAD to put this one second. (I swear after this the order doesn't matter!) It has an anime series and live-action movie adaptation, which I haven't watched, but I've heard that they don't really do the manga justice. Now, I wouldn't really recommend this one to kids, which I guess can be pretty broad or specific based on your definition? Strictly speaking there aren't any NSFW explicit scenes - nobody even gets naked at any point nor is it the hated ecchi style with random underwear/breast shots or whatever - but the two main characters are pretty euphemistic in, say, the first quarter or so of the series.
(Hiyakawa borrows power from Mikado and when that happens the feelings mirror the pleasure of intercourse, to put it bluntly, but that's not something that actually ever happens. Mostly we, the audience, just see Mikado get red and flustered, although Hiyakawa says/does shit to go along with it sometimes. It gets milder -> nonexistent as the plot progresses because that's not really the focus of the story.
Also, if you're sensitive to dubious consent then this probably isn't for you, since a big part of Hiyakawa's arc is learning how to be less fucked-up than he is and he often uses Mikado's power while Mikado tells him to wait or slow down - not because he wants to hurt Mikado or make him suffer, but because Hiyakawa just genuinely doesn't know that it's the wrong thing to do due to his upbringing. I won't go into why for spoiler reasons, but it becomes really clear by the end of the story. For those of you who are willing to look, I'm going to show a couple pics of this in action down below - otherwise, please skip over it and just scroll down to the parenthesis.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I wasn't really expecting to to go as in-depth as I did about this, and I do love this series, but I also want to give fair warning since the way the dialogue and Mikado's expressions are depicted give off a very real sense of urgency that I would hate for anyone to be caught off guard/be triggered by. I'd love to talk more about it if anyone wants to ask, but I've already diverged enough from the original question.
I don't want you thinking that they have an imbalanced toxic relationship in which Hiyakawa has all the power and Mikado is subservient to him, though, because that's not what it is either. Mikado has always been his own person, and Hiyakawa never tries to control him in any way besides from his own misunderstanding of consent. They help each other on equal grounds, but apparently the anime does a terrible job of showing that.
END )
So, why do I love this series? Well, it's modern paranormal/supernatural, which I'm a HUGE fan of. Apparently Gege Akutami (Jujutsu Kaisen author) named it as one of their own favorites, and once you read it you can really see a LOT of similarities. There's a character just like Okkotsu in that they've done REALLY shitty things and don't know whether they deserve to live or not. There's also a lot of learning how to be brave when you've been running scared your entire life and taking back your own control/power through it. And, other than the heavy stuff, it's actually quite funny. There was one moment I wasn't expecting where I actually laughed out loud.
Also, the characters are really compelling! Aside from everything I said about Hiyakawa earlier, he's one of those nonsensical types who says the most ridiculous things with the utmost sincerity and with a straight face. Mikado acts as his opposite - he easily freaks out and is very expressive. Also, the villain? Like holy SHIT. I could go on about them forever. Like. Holy fucking shit. Top-tier how they handled the boss battle because hoooolyyyyyy shiiiiiiit. But I don't want to spoil, so I'll leave it at that.
Also, the background stories for the characters - once you get to them - will break your heart. Yamashita draws really simply, sure, but they have such a powerful way with storytelling that the emotions just hit you like a brick through the window.
Mostly, though, it is a story about healing, and I'm a sucker when a bunch of people who need to heal in different ways because of the same thing all come together and help each other. I can also guarantee a happy ending, so look forward to that!
III. SNOW WHITE WITH THE RED HAIR
Oh, how I love this series. I know the anime hasn't adapted to its current point, so I def encourage you to read the manga even though it's not complete yet either (and I started in like middle school LMAO). Shirayuki was honestly such a huge role model for me growing up - she was smart and pretty and determined and, even when she wasn't so sure of herself, she always wanted to do the right thing. All the characters in the main squad are so lovely and feel like a real family altogether, and I adore every single one of them. It's sweet and romantic and nails nonmagical fantasy worlds right on the head, and I'd LOVE for more people to get on board with it.
(If you need more convincing, there's pirates and festivals and assassins and a character to love for every single person out there. I know Kiki and Mitsuhide are enough to cause a crisis.)
IV. BOYS RUN THE RIOT
OKAY Y'ALL. LISTEN UP. YOU WANT MORE LOUD AND PROUD QUEER REP IN MANGA?? HERE'S YOUR QUEER REP COME AND GET IT.
It doesn't have an anime adaptation so you can't really watch anything and be done with it, but there's only four volumes so it's easy to collect. it's a story about a transgender teenage boy named Ryo who expresses himself through fashion and GOD I love everything about this series. Jin is the BEST ally. It feels like such a warm hug to see something so proudly represented in manga. ALSO Boys Run the Riot started as a prototype one-shot that the author entered into a contest, and in THAT one of the first characters prototype-Ryo comes out to actually reveals to him that he's Korean!! He kept it hidden and changed his name to protect his identity!! Do you know how fucking REAL Keito Gaku was for that!! Like there is a whoooole conversation to be had about that topic but that is not for now!!
Anyways yes Boys Run the Riot makes you want to cheer and scream when everything comes together in the end because it felt like an uphill battle you were holding your breath through the entire time and I LOVE that they get a hopeful ending. Give it a try, I'm BEGGING.
V. CARDCAPTOR SAKURA
Okay, I'm going to be honest: this is pretty much the only series that has a manga AND an anime in which I've only ever seen the anime. I hear it does a pretty good job of adapting, though, so I'm not too concerned about it. (I do plan on reading the manga to catch up to the Clear Card arc.) I'll also admit upfront that since CCS is a kids' series, there were quite a few problems in it that I didn't realize until I was much older and went back to it.
I like that Sakura feels like a very real protagonist. She was scared and wimpy quite often, and as a kid it was really empowering to watch her develop into someone confident of herself and her abilities. She's got such a great supporting crew behind her, too! I especially loved that CLAMP brought in Syaoran and Meilin from Hong Kong - even nowadays, a lot of non-Japanese foreigner animanga characters fall into the American or European category.
Also, Yuki and Touya. Just do it for them. Seriously. You can watch CCS for them and ignore everything else.
Mostly CCS, for me, was fun and magical and a great escape for a little kid who wanted to get lost in a world not too far from their own. Also, it's got that 90s-drawn aesthetic we all know and love.
VI. PLAY IT COOL, GUYS!
Honestly, I love all of Kokone Nata's works so far. She's one of the more modern authors who got picked up on Pixiv, and I'm really looking forward to seeing where she's going. Play It Cool, Guys! is one of my favorites. It's actually a manga in color, and Kokone Nata utilizes it beautifully. She has so many fun characters and makes normal, everyday life seem so bright and fun. And not to sound like a main character, but I'm also a very clumsy, accident-prone person, so it's really nice to be able to see the crew do everything that I do and do their best to overcome them.
I also love how naturally their relationships develop. Like, seriously - how would a high school kid, two entirely separate and totally opposite college students, a late-20s office employee, and a semi-famous author all fall in together?? Everything is up to fate but Kokone Nata has a way of never making it feel forced. It's not at all unreasonable to bump into each other at the bookstore or in the park - especially when we see that they actually DO interact as strangers first who all happen to hang out/live near each other, and they just drift closer when they finally recognize each other. It's so subtle but so amazing to watch in action.
Also, it's very soothing and fluffy and healing and you absolutely do not have to put the amount of analysis I do into it LMAO, so if you ever need a pick-me-up I absolutely encourage this series or any of Kokone Nata's works!
VII. POKÉMON
Yeah, yeah I know. But I couldn't not include another childhood fave!! It was one of the very first I watched and Ash is honestly such a great protagonist and role model for younger kids. Sure, he can be an annoying brat in the ten-year-old way, but he takes losing like a champ and he always tries to do what's right. He was incredibly selfless, kind, and considerate for a character of that age and growing up alongside that really taught me a lot about what I wanted to put out into the world. Watching any episode just makes me feel comforted and like I'm paying an old friend a visit and it will always be in my favorites list. Plus the dub actually has some HILARIOUS lines LMAO.
Also, the Special Adventures manga series by Hidenori Kusaka is a total gem and was my first introduction to fandom, so if you're a Pokémon fan who hasn't read it then I really encourage you to check it out!
(I would like to make a note that I got stuck after this and was kind of fishing around in my head for the last three LMAO)
VII. HIBI CHOUCHOU
This one is one of my favorite high school romance series - it's sweet and fluffy and might be a little cheesy, but the characters are all so lovely and you can't help but want to cheer them on! The plot is kind of ridiculous when you first start it - "all guys instantly fall in love with the super pretty MC who hates the attention and has been declared 'unattainable' because of her distant attitude towards them and ends up falling for the one guy who didn't act crazy-in-love with her from the start" - but it's really heartwarming to see the growth Suiren and Taichi go through. I also really love Taichi because he feels so different and refreshing from a lot of high school romance manga male lead/love interests that I've seen. (Maybe because of the glasses? I can't name any other male lead/love interest with glasses LMAO.) It's such a gentle series and feels like a warm hug, and watching two quiet people find their way together really did wonders for shy high school me.
IX. FADED FIRST LOVE
Oh gosh, this one is SUCH a gem! You know how sometimes people want representation as a sweet story that's not about an identity crisis but just having fun and in love? That's what Faded First Love feels like. It's genuinely funny and sweet, and while Aoki DOES encounter a couple homophobic problems here and there, it's mostly lighthearted and nothing he can't handle with the help of his friends. He and Iida are both learning and doing their best, and it's one of the series I go back to whenever I want a pick-me-up.
X. JUJUTSU KAISEN
I did say before that I was a huge fan of mixing paranormal phenomena with modern settings, and Jujutsu Kaisen is a great example of that. It's crazy how much thought was put into the technical aspects of that world - every time I think about Gojo explaining to Itadori how to channel cursed energy, it makes my head hurt. The monster designs are so creative and the characters are all such a great bunch. I tear up whenever I remember Miwa listening to Mechamaru's voice recording on the plane. What really nailed it as a Top 10 for me was JJK Volume 0, because hooolyyy shiiiit. Okkotsu's growth was FANTASTIC to watch and I LOVE how confident he is now and how he follows the philosophy of "the people I care about care about you" when it comes to Itadori.
So that's it!! God, that was hard. I hope you enjoyed, and for anyone else reading it I hope this encourages you to pick up one or the other!!
Honorary mentions to: Promare, Kimi ni Todoke, From Up on Poppy Hill, Our Not-So-Lonely Planet Travel Guide, Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun, and tbh I'd list more but that would take forever LMAO
This is already a really long post so I'll reblog or make a part two with my fave moments, I'll let you know!
thanks all <333

SO IMMA MAKE ALL YOU FOOLS EMOTIONAL OVER SOME VOLLEYBALL BOYS.
a i g h t. LISTEN UP BITCHES.
I was messaging the brilliant @aeriamamaduck about SunoOsa smut of all things (that blue bird app is a wonderful place lol), and I got to thinking about just why Haikyuu has had me in a a DEATH GRIP now at this point in my life, as opposed to the other two times I tried (and failed) to watch it.
This train of thought does indeed relate to SunaOsa, but also to well… like… all of the Haikyuu ships(???) and just the timeskip arc in general, SO HEAR ME OUT.
I think part of the reason why the time skip arc might genuinely be my favorite part of the whole series is "it doesn’t stop before the real world hits." What do I mean by that? Well lemme tell ya.
Like I LOVE Free! Holy hell I love that show, DO NOT get me wrong. But it feels like with Free! (ESPECIALLY in the later seasons and with the final two movies) there is a "suspension of the real world"; like a magical plot armor is keeping these characters together both in physical distance proximity and in the relationships they have to one another.
Haikyuu by contrast? There is a whole volume where Hinata is depressed out of his mind because he’s on the other side of the planet from everyone he knows and loves and WE HAVE TO LIVE THOSE CONSEQUENCES WITH HIM. We don't get a free pass. We don't get to go, "can we skip to the good part???" We don't get to whizz over the sadness and isolation. BECAUSE REAL LIFE, real adult life, DOESN'T LET YOU DO THAT EITHER.
On top of which, there is nothing magically keeping these characters together — sure there’s the Olympics and the exhibition matches that pull them together at a rare moment. And sure we get a "new clusters of main characters", drawn out of character groups we've seen before (MSBY, the Adlers, and EJP for example), and this serves as a good reflection of real life where old friends come and go, and circle back into your life as your situation changes. But those moments are RARE and fleeting.
You’ve got 70 or so characters whose lives are moving in 70 different directions and Furudate turns to us, his readers, and says "THATS OKAY. THATS LIFE."
Taking this even one step further, when you see this ethos translated into ships and fanfic, it starts to make perfect sense why I love this series at this point in my life. The fanfic from this series that looks at the years in time skip arcs has break-ups, arguments, and pain that feels genuine and real. 'can you stay' (KuroKen) and 'Flame' (SunaOsa) both shattered my heart less than a week ago (12 outta 10 to both; highly recommend) for those exact reasons.
The series has it's undeniably peaks and triumphs, but these characters have to fight for them, earn them, and get the PROVERBIAL SHIT KICKED OUT OF THEM to do it.
Furudate and Haikyuu promise us no “neat happy endings” because life doesn’t promise you that. And for someone mourning the death of a relationship killed by distance, and growth, and people changing, and JUST LIFE… this show means a lot to me.
Idk if this is even entirely coherent, but the fact that our characters not only grow up and grow apart in this series, but we are allowed to see that??? NAY, forced to see it, and know it is a fact of life...?
To my fragile twenty-four year old, freshly-broken heart, this series is like lancing a wound. MY GOD does it hurt, but GOOD GOD does it help you heal.
TL;DR: The Haikyuu Timeskip is amazing and awful and I love it with every bit of my soul.
thanks for coming to my tedtalk xxx

Thats pretty weird 3. BUT theres hope liek she said BECAUSE: keiichi rememberd something from "another world" (i know a timeloop when i see one. its def a timeloop. Hells yeah) 4. the scrapbooks do hvae some evil spell or something takano i am onto you its weird anyway she shows up at such times and all.. Idk if shes the #MAIN VILLAIN DEMON OMG but shes Something.
Rena i love you thank you for solidifying your place as my favorite good time. argh every chapter so far is better than the one before it goes for this one too it does it does... Which is amazing implications for next ones... Lets hope they keep it up...
And keiichi i cant lie i do love you. I love you i love you i love you. Ughh. If i was still 16 hed have a big chance at going to that kinlist. But hes so gross so i wouldnt actually have added him then either!!! im unable to kin these days because EVERY GOOD CHARACTER EVER has Some Traits I Can Relate To Myself becuase i dont know something something human emotion something i am just like everyone else and everyone is just like me in the end and i love it. But yeah keiichi love the guy hes so #Power of Friendship #Protagonist. Im mentioning this cos i loved the girls from the start and still do but keiichi had to prove himself a little...
Yeah im curious about satoko now too i dont think i paid her enough mind i sort of ended up assuming shes #Normal but just super close to rika obviously but that one line about her being older. I couldnt tell yet if its Haha satokos body is older and rikas being funny! OR Omg satoko some immortal or something too woww! but yeah. I wouldnt think she is it doesnt seem that way at all BUT u never know w this fuckass series..ou ou ou ou ou
Mion i love you the girl that you are. Rena you are everything and more. Rika how have you managed to stay mysterious ive been here for like over 30 hours total for sure maybe even 40. But hmm
if its a timeloop i still cant tell what its about. id say rikas in charge (wants to keep giving this world a chance) n takano is with the antagonistic forces But how does it work exactly? If rikas the one "looping the time" directly it doesnt really compute unless she can do it from the afterlife. I dont konw.
And Omfg i hate this series because i STILL believe satoshi will show up one day. Even though it seems impossible now. But i liked him n shion so much dude i love shion so satoshi HAS TO come back for her. Urgh urgh urgh
But yeah i fr didnt think keiichi would be able to break renas delusion even for such a long moment But he pulled it off. Shes really cool i love her. I love her i love her i love her. UGHHH. Everything and more. and i said it alr but ill say it again the portrayal of her delusional state is SO personal to me i get her i get her i DO so good... Urghh. Ok. Thank u charhigurashi6 i have to check how many games the bundle i bought still has hmm
Tumblr media
ok these 3 i own but havent installed lets see The first one here is um well i dont know that girl i havent seen her which is concerning! I feel like i mightve seen a sprite (in the og style that i read with) but thats kinda it. I recall seeing a name somewhere too shes a furude i think but not too sure Im always frustrated when i see a spoiler like that but then it never makes me any more knowledgeable about anything so so far its fine #LOL. proably has to do with the demon stuff tho...
takano in the middle one right takano you are so weird and offputting. Damn maybe she IS the big bad afterall
last one aww rika But yeah thats. I dont know its at least 5 hrs each but i think i spent like 10+ hrs on meakashi so it could possibly be up to like what. 15 even 20? per game. At least 15 hours left though.. Idt theres anything outside of the bundle after this its either higu anime time or umineko time ill see what kinda time i have then (i can probably watch the anime while multitasking i dont really care so much but umineko i want to be TUNED. IN.)
yay exciting ok thank u charhigurashi6 best chapter so far loved it love u rena love u everyone ok gn

Summary:
Tsukishima Kei is your long term crush even though he’s mean to everyone. What will you do if he confess his feelings?
You have a crush on your classmate, Tsukishima Kei. He loves to tease people and you’re his favourite one. He’s over-reliant on himself because he’s more intelligent than others. Slightly – not slightly because he's a mean person.
He’s always making fun of you because you’re always getting the attention of your teacher. You’re always daydreaming in the corner. Thinking about him – the truth even though he’s mean towards you but he’s still your crush. You don’t know why you like this mean guy.
One time, you were embarrassed in front of your classmates. Because you weren't able to answer a Math problem that your teacher asked you to answer. And you suck in that subject so you’re left  dumbfounded. That time you felt you wanna cry – your tears want to fall. But everyone was shocked when Tsukishima stood up and helped you to answer the question.
Because of his heroic deed, your heart can’t stop beating abnormally. You felt your cheeks blushed so you bowed your head to hide it. After it the teacher let you both sit on your chair and continue his discussion.
After your teacher left, Tsukishima started teasing you.
“If I didn’t help you, you wouldn't be able to sit back on your seat.” He wants to piss you off and it  works on you. You’re pissed off.
“So are you saying that I should be thankful to you?” You angrily put your bag on your desk. While  him, he just laughs at you.
“What should it be?” He smugly smiles at you and your cheeks turn red because of too much anger.
You got mad at your own heart because why do you feel flutter at him instead of getting angry? You  didn’t flush because you’re angry but you feel exhilarated at him. Shit! Why is he so handsome? But he’s a mean guy.
You want to unlike him because you can’t tolerate his mean attitude. He’s always making fun of you – but you’re still very happy every time because he always notices you. Oh my god! Love makes you crazy. It’s like he cast a spell on you.
“F/n, I won’t like him anymore. I’ll gonna move on him.” You seriously said it but your friend  laughs at your statement.
“Move on? Why? Is there something between you and him?” It’s like she's gonna fall on her seat while she’s laughing at you. Wtf! Is she your friend? It’s like she’s not supporting your decision.
“Seriously?”
It’s tiring to like someone who didn’t like you back. It’s like you two will be enemies forever. Do you want that?
From the first year until both of you reached third year high school he’s still the one your heart wants. You’re so whipped to this guy even though he’s mean towards you. Even you two are always fighting but you’re always communicating – chat with video calls.
You’re always fighting but always communicating? What’s the meaning of this?
While you’re sitting on the bench with your friends, they’re talking about the upcoming prom night.  And you, you’re on the corner listening to what they are talking about. Thinking that you’ll never have a partner that day because no one will choose you, because you’re ugly (You feel you’re ugly but in fact, you’re not ugly. You’re not used to fixing yourself.)
They’re too busy discussing prom night – someone approaches you, it’s Yamaguchi Tadashi. Best  friend of your heartless crush. You were shocked when he approached you since he’s not used to  starting a conversation with you unless when you're a groupmate or when he needs something to ask  you related to schoolwork.
“Y/N, do you already have a partner on prom night?”
You’re doubting if you’ll answer him and you don’t know why? You didn’t have a partner on prom  night so you agreed. And it’s better than your teacher will scold you.
Y/N, I don’t want you to be my partner.
Your jaw dropped, too surprised of Yamaguchi’s text. You wondered why he backed out? You already talked well and agreed that he will be your partner this day and he was your partner during practice.
Oh my god! Yamaguchi really ditch me today.  You whispered to yourself. You looked so trouble while walking on the hallway.
“Oh? L/N, why you’re alone?” Your teacher asked you while looking at you.
“My partner left me.” You absentmindedly answer your teacher’s question.
“Tsk! That was too dramatic.” You suddenly turned in Tsukishima’s direction when you heard his voice.
“Sorry sir, I’m late.” He raised an eyebrow at you and gave a glance at the teacher in front.
“I’m her partner.” He looked straightly in your eyes. Your heart pumped against your ribcage and heat spread on your cheeks.
He holds your hand. You froze because you’re too tense when you feel his hand holding yours.
Tonight is prom night. You wear an elegant green gown even though the theme is red. You didn’t follow the dress code so you end up the only one who’s wearing a green gown and for tonight you’re the center of attraction.
It’s a backless gown and it’s revealing at the front. You’re too nervous because of Tsukishima’s stares. He’s staring at you since he met you at the hallway.
He was looking at you while you’re friends were too busy taking picture. He wears a black tuxedo.
Oh my god! He’s so handsome.
You look away when your eyes meet. Of course, you’re in the process of “moving on” to your crush but your heart was so stubborn, it never follows you. You still like him.
As the program started, everyone was too busy participating in those programs made by the student council. But everyone is anticipating this, the cotillion dance.
You already memorize the steps because of how many times you’ve practiced this but this time it’s different – especially your partner is not Yamaguchi and it’s freaking Tsukishima Kei - your long term crush! You’re panicking inside because of how tense you feel this time. Fast beating of your heart as soon as the music started.
Tsukishima pulled you closer to him because of too much closeness, you can feel his breath on your left cheek. It made you blush in a sudden. Thank goodness, it’s dark so he won’t notice your reddening cheeks.
When your eyes meet his eyes, you suddenly feel that both of you were having in your own world. You’re lost  in his eyes. You got teary eyes because you know this man will not be yours.
Why do I end falling in love with the person who couldn’t love me back? You ask yourself but you can’t find the right answer to this. But you only know you just simply love this man despite his antagonistic attitude.
You look away and step back to give space.
“Look at me.” He said.
“No need. It’s already dark, we can’t be seen.” You replied, secretly swallowed a lump inside your throat.
He didn’t stop. While you’re dancing he’s talking to you.
“Wtf! Why are you my partner instead of Yamaguchi? We already agreed about it.” You pretended to be angry so he won’t notice that you’re glad it was him. You quietly thank Yamaguchi at the back of your mind because if he didn’t back out, you couldn’t be with Tsukishima tonight.
“You should be thankful because if I didn’t come you’ll be alone tonight.” He showed his smug face at you which made you angry.
“Thank you so much.” You said it sarcastically.
He becomes silent. Finally, there's a peace on Earth but when he’s in the mood to tease you, he would  grab the chance to do it. No one can stop him.
“You’re a thick face, huh? Wearing a daring gown even though you’re flat-chested.” He laughs at  you.
You hardly hit him on his chest. “Your day will not be complete if you can’t ruin my day, huh?”
He laughed at you and then he got silent. He’s just looking at you while you two are dancing. You wanted to take a seat and go to the bathroom, to unleash your feelings – you’re hurt by what he said. You already know you’re flat-chested but why does he need to slap it to your face?
Letting him talk even though you’re not listening because you already know it’s just insults or words you didn’t want to hear, and also of the loud music you can’t hear of what he’s saying.
“What?” You exclaimed.
He takes a deep breath then closes his eyes. It’s timing the music stops when he shouted.  “I like you y/n!”
You are shocked by what he said. Everyone in the venue gasped and stopped what they were doing when they heard that confession. You were too shy at that moment – all the teachers and even the school’s  principal heard of what he said. You pray and hope that this is a dream but truthfully you’re so glad. He likes you too! He likes you!
You were left dumbfounded. You can’t utter even a single word. Your heart can’t stop beating, faster than ever.
“I know you didn’t like me back because I always tease you. But for me, it’s my way to make you notice me.” He averted his gaze from as his cheeks blushed. He looks so cute when he’s honest.
“Ah! It’s embarrassing!” Scratching his head even though it’s not itchy. Because of embarrassment,  his ears turned red.
You still couldn’t utter a single word since your brain is still processing of what you heard.
“Y/n, I like you. I don’t know when I exactly felt this but I just woke up, my day won’t be complete without you. I’m just teasing you so you could notice me. I want all your attention. I can’t be at ease if I can’t talk to you even though we already saw each other. I’ve realized, I’m falling for you. My family already knows about you because of my annoying brother, he’s always teasing me about you. And my mom always asks me if I'll bring you to our home to officially introduce you.”
He cleared his throat, still, couldn’t look at my eyes.
“I even imagine I’m waiting for you at the altar.” Your heart is exhilarated because Tsukishima, your long term crush is also thinking about you.
“It’s true y/n. He even told me, I won't be able to see the sunrise if I won’t agree to exchange partners with him.” Yamaguchi shouted.
“What the fuck! Shut up, Yamaguchi!”
Everyone laughed. You’re crying while laughing. If your crush will like you back, will you not get teary eyes because of too much happiness, aren’t you?
“Shit! Why I am so emotional today?” He pulled you closer and hugged you.
“Your dress is too revealing, that's why I tease you. Fuck! You’re exposing too much skin.” He steps back a little then takes off his coat to let you wear it. “It should be me the only one who’ll see everything.”
He holds your right hand while he’s looking at you with full of adoration.
“Y/n, let’s end the useless banter we’ve always been doing. Let’s start a new chapter of our life…”  he started.
“Be mine from this night until forever.” He kissed your forehead and hugged you tightly.  “Seriously Tsukishima? Am I not dreaming, right?”
“Set aside that, you need to answer my question right now.” Pause. “You’ll be my girlfriend or I’ll  kiss you in front of them?” It was deafening because of the scream of the crowd. It was fluttering inside and even those watching were exhilarated at his sudden confession.
You’re crying while laughing at his question. Silly! Tsukishima, he’s going to kill you because of too much happiness. “Yes–” He didn’t let you finish your sentence. Stopping you through locking his lips to yours.
People who are there are screaming because of the joyfulness. And this night is not bad at all. Finally, tonight you’re not single anymore. After all, you’ve got a boyfriend who was your long term crush.
The End!
