That ask about Dabi's height made me giggle cus he's canonically only 176cm. Natsuo is 181cm and Shouto is 175cm (definitely gonna outgrow Dabi). Dabi is canonically short and has round cheeks Bones gotta get it right

ok so basically tide does. ballet. I guess there's all that dance au shit about ballet being really strict and the culture so exclusive and restrictive of individual identity cough cough clone thing I actually know nothing about cough so even if we're going with the boring thing it works

but also. I have danced all my life but I've only taken one ballet class I actually remember. like not a semester class just one single masterclass for like an hour and fifteen minutes. and that entire class was one of the coolest most beloved experiences I've had in my life, because as you may know, when you strip away the origins and real-world professional ballerina limitations, ballet is about discipline and awareness and calculation and strength. ballet dancers are fucking ripped for a reason, and tide does ballet for its physical health benefits pretty much exclusively. it's quite honestly better training for his purposes than a ton of traditional stuff you could think of, if you ask me: ballet requires and thus cultivates incredible internal and external spatial awareness, as well as a very good sense of balance. the level of physical self-awareness I personally experience in a ballet class is miles beyond what a modern or hip hop class requires, and it's the kind of thing a hero needs to be second nature.

tide, then, uses ballet as a form of personal discipline. he will not touch pointe shoes with a ten foot pole, not because it's a traditionally female discipline, but because he is not in this for the aesthetic. what looks beautiful is more a measure of technical perfection for him than an end goal, and pointe is a very painful, often damaging means to elevate an aesthetic he is just not functionally interested in. he respects the artistic expression aspect of the whole thing because he is not stupid, but he mostly enjoys the internally complex technical stuff, likes getting the physical benefits and building muscle without going to the boring ass gym, and stops at the line where it would cause damage to his body for any aesthetic reason

Tears of the Kingdom to me is like DOOM Eternal in the sense that it blows its predecessor out of the water in terms of gameplay but I hate a lot of their big story bits

The main difference for me is that DOOM Eternal actually respects its legacy and tries to have things connect while TotK hates consistency with past titles and sees them as constraints

( so i have a couple updates from today i wanna share with y'all.

i ended up having that Serious Conversation™ about my gender n transition plans n stuff with my parents tonight. while i wasn't satisfied with a lot of the things that happened during it, likely because i was overwhelmed as fuck for the good portion of it, we ended up coming to a good solution about where to go next. what at least i'm hoping we're able to do - at least i hope given the ethical implications of doing so and my therapist's comfort with it - is have at least semi-regular meetings together with my therapist moving forward to help them to understand me and my gender more, which tbh idk why i didn't think of before but i think is a fantastic first-first step before any transition plans. and tbh, i think doing so would help my guilt for having them cover the insurance that would cover parts of things i'd decide to do later on, and it would also give me time to do some reflection on what my parents have to say as well. i know i don't technically have to do this because i'm an adult, but because i'm so financially reliant on them in the moment i think it'd help to give us all some peace of mind in the meantime. so, to those of y'all who may have sent me some $$ for my hope to start t soon, let me know if you want a refund, & if you do i'd be happy to provide them in whatever way works best for you. just let me know. <3 )
