Like Frieza and Vegeta’s relationship was absolutely abusive and exploitative from start to finish but I think people write it wrong. Well not wrong, just in a way that I personally believe removes the deeper horror in favor of an easy depiction of what a relationship like that looks like. He’s not getting strung up and whipped or locked in a cell to cry, he’s getting his chin scratched by a person who uprooted him from everything he had ever known on a whim and destroyed the culture upon which he founded his most nascent sense of identity. And that person is only keeping him alive because despite it all, he’s useful, and kind of cute, especially now that all the other Saiyans are dead. Vegeta’s a small child being made to commit atrocities for profit an amusing little novelty, still using the honorifics & regurgitating the legends of a planet that’s been obliterated. DBS is not a perfect sequel by any means but it did this part so, so well. “All hail Vegeta, prince of no one.” “I always thought you shined the brightest when you were serving as my pet.”
Sickening, yes? And the intimacy is the worst part, the realization that Frieza seems to favor him; seems to like him. Who knows, maybe Vegeta reminded him of himself at some ancient, half-forgotten stage of life. King Cold did drop him like a hot potato as soon as he was proven weaker than Trunks. Maybe that’s the whole reason he made King Vegeta give up his kid in the first place. Frieza’s relationship with his father is shallow and dependent entirely on his value as a soldier, the underlying cruelty of which they’ve both silently agreed to use superfluous affection to cover up? Fine. He’s gonna make the Saiyan king give up his own militarized child prince. He’s gonna strip away the cultural justifications for what he’s doing to his son by making him treat it like the cold, spineless profiteering that it always was. He’s gonna rub it in.
But hey, he’s not mad at the kid. It was his dad who got too big for the barrel. Vegeta is still serving his purpose, Vegeta is still being good. Why wouldn’t Frieza treat him in accordance with his “station,” even after it’s been rendered an empty title because of him. All he has to do is keep spinning the wheel on the Cold Empire, vomiting out violence into the endless vacuum of space & never getting too uppity about his dead father or dead planet or about the fact that, even when reduced to the most baseline level of childish narcissism, the state which this arrangement has emotionally stunted him into maintaining well into adulthood, he never actually wanted any of this. He didn’t want to leave Planet Vegeta! He didn’t want to grow up surrounded by strangers! He didn’t want to have no claim over anything he ever achieved! He wanted to work for himself! It wasn’t his choice!!! For all of Vegeta’s dickswinging and hierarchy and “pride,” he is so, so helpless, “like a tiny insect glowing in a jar,” as Frieza so helpfully summarized for us. Overcorrection layered on overcorrection layered on overcorrection layered on desperate, screeching fear and sadness and shame. Blow up a planet. Nuke a city. Wipe out a village. Fix It Again, Tony.
And that viciously indulgent cruelty that Vegeta used to comfort himself as he grew into a man is only emphasized by how blasé Frieza appears to be about the whole thing. He’s calm. He’s secure. He spends half the arc sitting down, just watching. He’s what Vegeta was in the first part of the Saiyan saga, and he slowly turns into what Vegeta slowly turned into in the second part of the Saiyan saga. An addled, wounded, unthinking mess, trying to put their self image back together as someone else’s superior ability causes it to crumble. Frieza was scared of the super saiyan. Under all that collected ambivalence, that whole time, he was scared.
Vegeta is Frieza’s heir. As gross as that incongruent, unwanted warmth is to witness, Frieza succeeded in establishing influence over & connection between himself and the child he orphaned. And the process of healing from that relationship involves Vegeta going back to square one and having to acquiesce to another foreign, combat oriented culture populated by vaguely hostile strangers. He gets new clothes. He gets a new place to train. He gets new tasks to perform. He gets called cute.
Like. It’s not physical torture, at least not as we usually imagine it. It’s this slow poisoning of a person’s ability to trust and connect with others, a process which is gussied up by regular assertions of fondness, so casual & consistent that you have to actively remind yourself that the guy who’s doing it sees Vegeta as a literal subhuman, and is only being good to him the way you’d be good to a valued piece of property. He tortured him to death, but he still thinks he was a good pet. Vegeta’s life was Frieza’s to end, but his feats of wanton destruction were also his to be proud of.
That’s the whole reason why Vegeta’s character development was slow, ugly and recidivist. Because it was his knowledge of how to grow, of how to exist any other way, that Frieza intentionally eroded for his own selfish, petty gain. And for a relationship between a man with a monkey tail and his pink-skinned alien overlord, the most uncomfortable part about the dynamic is that it’s realistic. Common, even.

Favorite Vegeta fighting scene?
I think about the Broly vs Vegeta fight the normal amount, especially how they really show the gracefulness in Vegeta’s fighting and how much in control he is.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He's also extremely limber and regularly uses gymnastics as part of his fighting style.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
While I love the Saiyan-Namek and Androids-Cell sagas, it's clear that the animation has evolved a lot in Super and there's more focus on their techniques. Of course there are exceptions.
Tumblr media
I'd love to hear which Vegeta fights other people like?

Future Trunks' Appearances
Future Trunks to me is one of the hottest male characters in DBZ! Also he has been shown to have long and short hair. So I wanted to do my own personal ranking of Trunks' outfits (excluding his looks in the History of Trunks special).
Number 5: Short hair, battle armor
Tumblr media
This has to be Trunks' worst look. It's not ugly but it just looks a bit ridiculous to me. He looks a bit dorky, to be honest like he's playing dress up. Especially since he looks so boyish.
Number 4: Long hair, battle armor
Tumblr media
I think Trunks looks way better in his armour when he has longer hair. All those shots in the Cell games where Trunks' hair is waving in the wind are so gorgeous. Made him look pretty. Maybe the longer hair complements his muscles better by not making his head seem so small. I love this look but I hate how Trunks is so freakishly huge for a good part of his time wearing it. The armour does not really feel like Trunks either. I think his Earthling clothes fit him better.
Number 3: Long hair, casual clothes (Pre cell games)
Tumblr media
I had to add this because Trunks just looks so cute in this simple outfit. His face is these shots is super soft, making him look a bit innocent. Love it!
Number 2: Long jacket sleeves (Cell saga, Broly movie)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I can't decide between long hair and short hair Trunks for this look. Sometimes the animation makes short hair Trunks look a bit dorky though. But this is Future Trunks' iconic look. No one else can pull off this fashion disaster (coming from someone who knows squat about clothes lol).
Number 1: Long hair, short jacket sleeves (Bojack movie)
Tumblr media
Just look at him!!! Talk about leaving the franchise in style! The dude's muscles are so huge at this point that Trunks ditches sleeves altogether. Gosh he's hot :''). From what I have seen, many people agree this is Trunks' best look.

If Dragon Ball had a novel/western comic adaption like Jojo and Sonic
Even at the early sagas, they could destroy dimensions and realms. Manipulate matter and molecules.
Super Saiyan would be the only Super Saiyan form, plus it'll already have godly abilities. Probably only saved during special occasions when it is really needed.
Everyone will display even more versatility in abilities that would everyone useful to help one another and handle certain situations when the other couldn't.
This adaptation of ki works differently than it's original source, to the point it's overpowered especially when characters like Goku, Piccolo, and Vegeta use it. And villain examples: King Piccolo, Turles, Frieza, Cell, Buu, Broly etc.
Characters like Goku would have a different characterization in order to "feel like characters" or be "relatable" some way.

Are any of Sarge and Elaine’s kids as beloved in the nation as Elvis was during his time? Do any of them particularly want to be in the spotlight, now we know Marie is a famous photographer and Daisy is an entertainer. I just think that the nationwide love Elvis brought out should be replicated in one (or more) of his kids because his impact is truly amazing.
2nd question, during the divorce Elaine gets pregnant? What’s the public backlash for that? Can’t even imagine them being kind to her.
Ooooh, how fun is this ask?! 😍Especially as the answer is two in one, just like the question. First off, meet Mr. Danny Presley:
Tumblr media
Yes, yes I went and made it a little odd yet sweet by using darling John John Kennedy’s face, BUT HEAR ME OUT
1. I adore that man and he needs a fix it fic himself and in this universe we can start from scratch a bit, 2. I just always envisioned their last son being a distinguished darling of the nation in a political capacity, 3. he’s just terribly handsome and well…distinguished, I’ll use that again and has the down to earth goodness along with the charismatic gravitas that suits my vision for Danny.
Which leads us to those questions.
Oh the backlash is nasty. It’s awful as expected but for the first time in her life, Elaine Presley, though divorced and perhaps unforgivable for it by her husband, actually has Elvis’ full support under the media glare. This is thanks, in part, to Colonel Parker and his damned tabloid machine -which was always her nemesis and the bane of her dignity- being out of service due to the Colonel himself being neck deep in an immigration lawsuit. He can’t quite issue spoon fed statements about his investment’s behavior from a holding cell, not when the investment himself is rethinking his place as the head of his family while curled up in his ex-wife’s hospital bed talking to her barely protruding belly.
And Danny, oh sweet, their lovely Danny Boy. Made in the middle of such tragedy, you’d never know it from his easy presence and boyish charm, the way from the minute he can interact during Elvis’ later international tours he treats his Daddy’s fans like his own. He’s the one in the late 80’s and 90’s still passing out smooches to admirers, young and old, who still flock around the gate. He’s the one who gets invested in Memphian politics and continuing on what America got robbed of somewhere along the way. He marries Shiloh’s best friend Bee and he wins the senatorship, he’s straight and honest as they come… unless you wanna press an inquiry about some of those badges he gets his daddy. But no harm in those.
He coulda been known as the kid made when the two crazy Presley’s couldn’t stop hate-fucking. Instead he’s a recalled as a unifying legacy to everyone who ever dreamed about love enduring and good people making efforts to live for something bigger than themselves.
If it’s true you attract the love you give, then Danny’s his daddy’s replica to a T, and maybe it helps that they share a birthday. 😉
…the whole saga of him being made and the divorce and the reasoning and the reconciliation will be coming soon, I swear
As for the others, you have Daisy who is a significant performer in her own right and certainly a bit of a fame enjoyer, there’s Jesse who is similarly acclaimed but not as lead, and you’ve got Marie who as a photographer and filmmaker might be more of a artsy success but as far and household name and universal admiration and fondness as was felt for Elvis -I see that being Danny. Your Grandpa and your lil sister both think he’s pretty fly.

YOU ARE TALKING TOO MUCH
Joseph Quinn X fem!reader
Summary: Where Joe talks too much about the movie he shot with his girlfriend.
Words: 1K+
Warnings: Cuteness, mentions of other actors, Joe giving spoilers for the film, and mentions of Harry Potter.
Author: Here again to say that English is not my first language, so forgive me for the mistakes I may make. With that, have fun!!!
MASTERLIST
Tumblr media
Y/n and Joseph were at the moment, signing autographs until it was time to go to comic con to talk a little with the fans.
The line of fans was ending, and Y/n was in the first seat at the table. The fans would go to her first and then move on to the others in the cast, until they got to Joe.
The woman gives her last autograph and walks to where Joseph was sitting, talking to a super friendly fan. Y/n comes from behind and puts his arms on his shoulders, just as the fan leaves. He tilts his head back and smiles passionately.
"He finished?" He asks his girlfriend, until the next fan arrives at his table.
"Yes" Y/n nods and places a quick kiss on his forehead. Thus, taking a step back to let him talk to the fan who had just arrived.
"Can I take a photo with you two? If it's not a bother, of course" The girl says, after Joe signs the movie poster.
Y/n, who was on the cell phone behind her boyfriend, looks up at the girl and smiles friendly.
"Of course I do" Joe and Y/n say together, so the two looking and smiling at each other.
Soon, the girl takes her cell phone out of her bag and takes one or two photos with them. She thanks him and leaves to secure her place near the stage.
As she was the last to sign autographs, the film's cast began organizing their table so they could talk and answer some questions from fans on stage.
It doesn't take long, all the film's protagonists are on stage sitting talking, responding and laughing with the fans.
Y/n was sitting on a high stool, while Joseph was sitting on the edge of the sofa next to her. Meryl Streep and Aaron Taylor were on the same couch as Joe, and Emma Stone was on the other high stool, just on the other side of the stage.
"Sen, how was the experience of working with your boyfriend and on top of that being his love interest in the film?" A fan asks and Y/n adjusts himself in the chair.
"I can't deny that it was an incredible experience, even more so because I spent more time with him. And regarding our characters being a couple in the film, that kind of came naturally, because we are a couple in real life. So there will probably be a lot of scenes that you will watch and you will see that we were not acting. As said, it was as if it was natural to record with him." Y/n responds and places the microphone on his lap while smiling.
Joe smiles shyly on the couch, while looking sideways at his girlfriend.
"Aaron, I have a question for you," a 12-year-old fan says, and he gets ready on the couch. While the other actors looked at him.
"He sends!!" He smiles while saying nice.
"It's not exactly about the movie right now, but what do you think of the rumors that keep going around that you'd make a great James Potter in Harry's universe?" The fan asks and people laugh.
On the set, everyone said he could easily play this character, until his nickname ended up being James.
"Not ironically, but on the set of this movie everyone called me James" He says and the actors laugh. "Especially Y/n and Joe" Aaron looks at the two and the couple shrugs and smiles. "Now to answer your question. I would be super happy to play the character, I'm fascinated by the saga and it would even be an honor for me to play James Potter." Aaron finishes and smiles a little.
"You know what would be more interesting too, that I was watching right now?" Y/n says before anyone else asks questions. Thus, attracting looks towards her. "Looking from up here, Meryl could easily be Euphemia Potter and Aaron James."
Emma who was on the other side widens her eyes and points at Y/n, before saying: "Heavens, I was thinking about that just now!!!" She says excitedly and Y/n is euphoric.
"We're a great duo!!" Y/n gets off the stool and runs to Emma to touch her hand.
People laugh at their excitement.
"I don't know if that's true or if they want to make me happy with the possibility" Meryl says jokingly and they laugh.
"Oh, stop it. Don't you want to be my mother?" Aaron makes fun and they smile.
"No, it was hard enough being your aunt in this film. Imagine mom" she mocks the actor.
"I promise to be an obedient Potter" Aaron says and they laugh at the actor's speech.
"Please, if anyone in the audience has a movie director contact, tell them that Y/n and Emma have already found practically an entire cast for The Marauders movie." Joseph says and they laugh.
As soon as the laughter stops, another fan stands up to ask a question.
"Okay, Joe! Now back to your movie. What was the hardest scene you or you had to shoot?"
Joseph leans forward and rests both elbows on his knees, while holding the microphone and thinking about the many scenes he had recorded.
"Look, that was a great question!!" He sighs thinking. "I think it was one of the last scenes in the movie, where we were in Kansas shooting and Y/n's character died-"
"JOSEPH QUINN!! SHUT UP" Y/n exclaims, throwing his coat that was on his lap towards Joseph.
His eyes widen, after realizing what he said.
"No guys, it's a lie!!!. Y/n's character didn't die. It's another Y/n's character" he tries to change the story, while the rest of the cast laughed and Y/n was desperate.
"No jojoe, stop!!" Y/n says his nickname and puts his face in his palms. "It's making everything worse" she says muffled and the rest laugh.
Y/n raises her head holding back her laugh and looks at her boyfriend.
"If he gets fired or his scenes are no longer in the movie, you already know why!" Y/n says to the audience, but looking at her boyfriend who was now sinking into the sofa.
"He's done a Tom thing now" Emma says remembering her friend years ago with the release of yet another Avengers film.
"Siblings separated in the maternity ward" Aaron says and they laugh.
Y/n didn't know what she was doing with Joe at that time, either she laughed at the situation, which was the best thing to — do, or she went on a sex strike for a month.
Which resulted in her doing both and a whimpering Joe behind her for quite a while.

Author: Nothing gets out of my head that Aaron and Meryl should be the Potters in an Age of The Marauders movie😭🙏🏽

Okay so I just want to say about your Vegeta caring about Krillin and Gohan post, that you're kind of overlooking some very important reasons about why Vegeta was looking out for them. The first time he runs into them, he discovers that they had some dragon balls, and threatens to kill krillin over it. When he then finds gohan, he mock's the kid's father, hits him, and then spells out that he's only sparing gohan due to believing he's only minutes away from immortality. he was actually on his way TO KILL gohan and krillin when he found out gohan denied him his wish, only stopping bc he sensed guru powering up gohan. he then only teams up with krillin and gohan bc he knows how dangerous the ginyu force is. to spell it out: once they got all the dragon balls, not only does krillin and gohan betray him, but vegeta also internally thinks to himself how they're fools and he's gonna wish for immortality and be done with them.
when he finds out that they screwed him over AGAIN, he's clearly going to follow through his intention to try and kill them until krillin agrees to get dende to make him immortal. while vegeta is (somewhat hypocritically) astonished with the beat down frieza is giving gohan, he STILL tries to leave them both to die once frieza's far more powerful in his second form than he expected. Not take them both with him, but leave them to die while he escapes. Given Krillin and Gohan were both boosted, he thought of them as useful tools to survive and beat frieza, which was why he told krillin not to help gohan to instead give HIM a zenkai boost.
tldr; Vegeta was being very pragmatic, but the actual level of care is minimal- and therefore more consistent with how he treats raditz and nappa.
Sorry to just dump this in your inbox. but i just disagree with vegeta's intentions are woobified by so many fans, in namek and saiyan saga he was the same level of ruthless, just more pragmatic in namek by necessity. while there could be implied care for gohan, krillin and vegeta aren't at all friends, especially considering all the times krillin has admitted he thought vegeta should die (in the saiyan saga, vs zarbon, and after cell becomes perfect)
like vegeta is a BAD person. he's selfish and would've killed more people had he gotten the chance during those two arcs, and it bothers me when people think him not being a dick at EVERY opportunity equates to him being kind or caring.
Don't worry, I'm aware that Vegeta wanted to backstab Krillin and Gohan. Honestly, when I wrote the post I thought I was giving Vegeta a little too much sympathy and I did consider adding the times he thought about killing Krillin and Gohan to make it fair, but I decided that bogged down the post when the actual question was “why did Vegeta expend more effort on preserving Krillin and Gohan's lives than Raditz and Nappa's when he’d known the former for 1 month and the latter for 25 years?”
Honestly, I think that parkergeorg has a solid explanation of it. Hopefully that has logic that works better for you, since it comes down to it being situational and a result of Vegeta actually being concerned enough about Freeza to realize he needs allies rather than taking allies for granted/using them as a demonstration of how strong he is.
I will say that although you're right about most of Vegeta being shitty to Krillin and Gohan (trying to kill them before the team up, plotting to kill them after they'd teamed up, going to go kill them once they'd taken the dragon balls), this part:
"he STILL tries to leave them both to die once frieza's far more powerful in his second form than he expected. Not take them both with him, but leave them to die while he escapes."
is anime filler, and I'm not even sure if it made it into Kai? It's definitely not in the manga; Vegeta doesn't try and leave the fight. He definitely did do all of those other terrible things though.
"tldr; Vegeta was being very pragmatic, but the actual level of care is minimal- and therefore more consistent with how he treats raditz and nappa."
I'm cool with that explanation. I still think that he put more effort into keeping Gohan alive than Raditz or Nappa, because there was genuinely no reason to save Gohan from fourth form Freeza, or alert them to where Freeza was, but I'd accept that Vegeta's willingness to backstab them both balances it out. I should have been more explicit in the original post that "there wasn't a difference in how he treated them" was a valid response. I do think there's a recognizable difference, but that doesn't mean you have to agree with me.
"Sorry to just dump this in your inbox. but i just disagree with vegeta's intentions are woobified by so many fans, in namek and saiyan saga he was the same level of ruthless, just more pragmatic in namek by necessity."
I don't mind, don't worry. I have seen what you mean about woobifying him, I find it annoying even though I occasionally do it myself (probably inevitable for a favorite character), and that wasn't what the intent of the post was. I did try and propose the purely pragmatic explanations of Vegeta's behavior, but I guess I didn't give it as much focus. I will say that I still think he's lying when he says he doesn't care/that he saved them to show off/whatever, but as parkersgeorg pointed out, the lie doesn't have to be to cover for caring for them in a way that involves actual concern for others. He could just as easily be avoiding admitting that he might need help later because that's humiliating and he's supposed to need no one.
"like vegeta is a BAD person. he's selfish and would've killed more people had he gotten the chance during those two arcs, and it bothers me when people think him not being a dick at EVERY opportunity equates to him being kind or caring."
I know he's awful, it's a solid part of what makes him compelling as a character. It makes the times where he chooses not to be awful more interesting by contrast, which is why I made the original post, along with the comparison to how he treated his other allies. However, you're right that there's a reasonable enough pragmatic explanation for trying to keep Gohan and Krillin alive, barring the final save with Gohan, and that could still be argued as preserving an ally in case he needs him later. I certainly wouldn't call his actions kind or caring even if he did save them out of respect instead of pragmatism though. When I say care, I mean it also in the sense that I care when my favorite tools break, but it's certainly not the way I care about a person. It covers a wide range of emotional investment, that he could be at any level of.
There's another post around somewhere that points out that because we expect Vegeta to be the worst all the time, when he doesn't live all the way down to those expectations it's a pleasant surprise, so it feels like he's done way better than less than the bare minimum. That's what causes the phenomena you've noticed. However, I'm still curious about when/why he is a dick and when/why he isn't a dick, as well as wtf is going on with his worldview, so I made the post, and I got some interesting explanations out of it. I think your perspective on it is worthwhile too so I'll post this.

What is your favorite Bulma outfit or hairstyle?
Oh boy this is actually my first as and what a question…
Bulma looks good in ALL her looks— I’m especially fond of her short hair— Her Super look is amazing as well as the shorter hair she sports toward the end of Dragon Ball and DBZ but if I really had to pick only one…
Tumblr media
Her Namek hair is iconic! As is her hair in the Android/Cell Sagas… that short-ish, bob-ish look is gorgeous on her!
As for outfits, she looks great in anything. I’m especially fond of her Broly puffy outfit because she’s just… REALLY cute (and I like puffy clothing…)
Tumblr media
And her regular outfit in that movie isn’t exactly nasty either like… look at her…
Tumblr media
But again, if I could only pick ONE… this
Tumblr media
This this this this THIS THIS
As a side note, the answer to this question was nearly just THIS, flat. It’s a borderline perfect look for her. Short hair, bright, colourful, has the neck scarf (a perfect accessory for her!) and she just looks like even more of a 999/10 than normal. If I wasn’t kinda partial to her Namek hair, it’d be an easy answer. God, just LOOK AT HER.
Anyway I am the #1 Bulma fan, and she doesn’t really have a bad look, but getting to answer this question was a delight. Thank you so much!

🫀The Heart's Savior.
Hello everyone, wolfpack! As I promised, here is part two on Yamcha's key role in the Androids and Cell saga. For those of you who have not yet read part one, you can catch up with my analysis of Yamcha and Goku's relationship by clicking here.
PART 2: The Present.
This time, as I anticipated in the previous post, I will deal with the present. This means that just as Yamcha took care of his past, in this case represented by Goku, he also went out of his way to take care of what was happening around him. So I am referring to those moments when there was no time to stop and think, or those moments when there was nothing else to do but give comfort or any kind of help.
Tumblr media
Before we get into that, I want to point out an aspect of Yamcha that I think is curiously impossible to eradicate. Let's face it, Akira Toriyama did not treat him very well. Or rather, he didn't make the most of him. Although I'm sorry to say it, I think all of Yamcha's potential came up not because Toriyama really wanted it, but because in his mind he needed someone to sentence those exact words. So Yamcha was always a tool, and as long as he expressed himself to give support to his friends it could have been fine. The problem arises when at some point (precisely upon Trunks' arrival) Yamcha changes dramatically, becoming a wimp who prefers to run away instead of a daredevil who is willing to do anything to help. I would like to recall that long ago, despite having a broken leg, he had ignored this disability of his to go and help Goku and Tenshinhan against the Great Demon King Piccolo. Or even, it was always Yamcha who had motivated his friends to join Goku and face the Red Ribbon army together with him.
Tumblr media
So it is strongly logical that the "new Yamcha" we see is not the result of a sensible character change but simply the result of a stupid and awkward narrative necessity. When Trunks arrives in the past and shortly thereafter reveals himself, Akira Toriyama could not afford to put Bulma on the wrong side. She was still the second main character in Dragon Ball, and besides that her relationship with Yamcha, despite its ups and downs, was loved by many. I mean, even the original voice actors of the two were convinced that sooner or later they would really get married, so their breakup had to look like something that made sense; moreover, the breakup had to justify Bulma's final decision and especially redeem the figure of Vegeta, who from then on would officially take Tenshinhan's place as Goku's historical rival. How to do this, then? Simple: Yamcha is a stupid good-for-nothing cheating womanizer who is afraid of everything. Problem solved! Well… Not really, but still it must be admitted that Toriyama has succeeded to some extent since many Dragon Ball fans are really convinced of this. I will discuss this on another occasion. Now it is important to point out that in this arc it is absolutely evident that there is an attempt to scuttle the character in every way possible, but as I said before, it almost seems as if Yamcha himself tried to take over and go beyond the wishes of his author. Simply put: it got out of their control. Majin Yamcha cannot exist!
I mean, it's as if he wants to say, "Okay jerks, you wanna make me useless? Fine, but I'll be in my own way!"
Tumblr media
Here you can see Yamcha lashing out at the Toei Animation people of making him look useless.
Of course, these are just impressions. We will never know how much they realized Yamcha's value, but let us say that even though they represented him in this saga as a mere sidekick or driver or nurse, they unintentionally made him greater than he already was. And it's nice to be able to see that even though Yamcha was backed into a corner, he still managed to make a difference. This shows how even for Toei Animation and Toriyama it is impossible to distort this character. That's why I say that it is Yamcha himself who is rebelling against his unfair fate: his way of doing things, which we have come to know from the beginning of Dragon Ball, cannot be changed. He may be an adorable clown, he may be afraid of new enemies and he may even be weaker than others, but that does not mean that he is ridiculous, cheater and especially useless.
Keep all this in mind: on the one hand we have Toriyama's willingness to destroy the character, and on the other hand we have Yamcha whose few "superfluous" lines disproves it all. It is a sneaky battle that I urge you to notice better, especially since it is from these seemingly unnecessary moments of his that Yamcha's heroism is best delineated.
Well, now we can really start.
Buckle up because this is going to be a looooong read.
Tumblr media
In this chapter we will see how Yamcha not only took care of Goku and Chichi, but also of many other people. We are in the present, that is the time when absolutely no misstep is allowed. Any wrong attitude could change the fate of the world, and Yamcha knows this well because Trunks told of a disastrous future in which there is nothing left but hope. Here is the key word. Hope. It is said to be the last to die, and that is absolutely true, but in order for it to endure over time, even when everything falls apart, it is important that it be fueled by love. Yamcha is the absolute personification of this. Throughout Dragon Ball he has always been the first to hope and believe that all is not lost. Moreover, he has always been the one who has consoled and helped the characters not to break down. As I have already said, this attitude is essential for a fighter. Being emotionally prepared for a battle can change things, and we have seen this many times. So that Yamcha is a real motivational coach should not go so unnoticed, especially in a context where even Goku's strength is doubted.
In short: Yamcha is the one who saves the mood.
So, dear friends, we will now explore together those little details that could rehabilitate our beloved Yamcha and make him essential in a context that does not seem to have considered him enough.
...No, wait. May I begin by saying that Yamcha saved even the Kame House?
Tumblr media
Come on, I'm kidding. Let's start with a rather simple scene. In this case, the character called upon is Tenshinhan.
Tumblr media
The friendship between Yamcha and Tien is crazy. Their rivalry during the 22nd Tournament was stronger than that between Goku and Tien himself, which made their reconciliation even more exciting.
Tumblr media
We are at the moment when Tenshinhan tries to stop Cell from absorbing Android 18. His strength is dwindling out of all proportion; at Kame House Chiaotzu and Yamcha sense that their friend is doomed. Therefore Yamcha proposes to rush to his rescue. Although it is nothing new that Yamcha wants to take action to save his friends in danger, this is a small scene that shows how incongruent Dragon Ball has become at some point. Okay, I can also accept that Yamcha is a guy who feels he has to act only when the situation is particularly close to him and his heart is tickled, but I absolutely do not accept that his will to do is always stopped by a force superior to him: the plot.
Tumblr media
In this case, Muten stops Yamcha's determination by telling him that going to help Tien wouldn't be smart because they would risk death as well. All right, it may be true, but Yamcha certainly didn't want to stop Cell. Yamcha only wanted to save his friend, also because we all know the lethal effects of the (Shin) Kikoho. It means Yamcha would have picked up Tien and carried him away, or at best it means he would have helped him by using his Sokidan to distract the enemy, or even the kamehameha. I want to emphasize it again: not to kill Cell, but just to distract him and buy time. Well, for reasons unknown to us, the saying "unity makes strength" does not apply if you are an earthling. At least at this time, since at the end of the Cell Saga everyone will seriously join forces to help Gohan. And may I have my say? It is the highest moment in all of Dragon Ball Z, because for the first and only time all the Z-Fighters unite to defeat the enemy and win.
Tumblr media
Whatever. Let's ignore what to me is a big plot mistake and focus again on Yamcha: as you can see, he would have wanted to do much more than what he was given and the fact that he wants to intervene against Cell, who is even stronger than the Androids 19 and 20 who almost took him out, confirms how Yamcha was thwarted by the narrative and not by his supposed weakness.
It is quite funny that all these contradictions and all the attempts to make him a good-for-nothing, if seen from the right perspective, can seriously save Yamcha's reputation. You just have to be a little more careful. Be that as it may, once again we can see how Yamcha's heart is big enough to put his own life on the line in order to save his close friend. If only Toriyama Muten had not stopped him…
Now it is Gohan's turn.
If taking care of Goku and Tien is more obvious because they are two friends he has loved for so long, taking care of Gohan is quite different. Well, let's say that what Yamcha feels for anyone is unconditional love. He loves and it is by loving that he is able to feel stronger. It is a feeling that goes even beyond hatred, but we will talk about that another time. In Gohan's case, Yamcha's love takes on an even symbolic role.
Tumblr media
At this point you might think that I am abusing the word "love", but…. Did you read that correctly? It is Yamcha himself who uses it. What's more, he is the only one who uses it. After all, Yamcha is the only one who explicitly admits his desire to love. Bulma's first wish was to find a boyfriend, while Yamcha's dream was to get married and consequently love someone for the rest of his life. He is the most romantic character of all, and it is a pity that this peculiarity of his is seen as one more reason to think him weak. Instead, I believe that confessing certain feelings makes him even stronger than all those who hide them. So I'm really glad that at such an important moment Yamcha has spoken words that are absolutely in line with his character. At least in this he has not been distorted.
Tumblr media
Although it is evident that the boy's second father is Piccolo, we can also speculate that he was not the only one. Especially after Goku's death, I like to think that someone like Yamcha visited Chichi and her son often so that they would not be lonely. After all, Chichi is also pregnant, which further supports the hypothesis that Yamcha may have been there for them in some way. Uncle Yamcha, right? Sounds good! But let me tell you our dear bachelor dude has the makings of a good father. I mean, maybe during these years he was actually the one who taught Gohan how to play baseball? Who knows...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As I told you in the previous chapter, Goku has been like a little brother to protect for Yamcha. Even if Goku was definitely stronger than Yamcha and could defend himself, the little saiyan possessed a great weakness: he was naive. How many times was he teased by villains because he had trusted them? And how many times was he taken by surprise by enemies because he had no idea who they were? Well, Yamcha helped him open his eyes many times. He has watched over him where Goku's innocence was not enough, and using his own bandit-like nose in his favor, Yamcha has gotten him out of little and big trouble. The only reason I don't call him paternal is only because the age difference is minimal, but certainly the drawings from long ago help to better convey the idea of how much Yamcha's stature shielded Goku's pudgy little body.
Tumblr media
I always found this moment tender because Bulma, Yamcha and Goku look just like mommy, daddy and son. Therefore, it is not at all strange to imagine that all this kind of love felt for Goku has also projected toward his son. However, this time the fatherhood is definitely evident, both because the age difference between Yamcha and Gohan is greater and because it could only be otherwise. We said that Yamcha's mission is to take care of everyone, right? So do you think he could have ever backed down from helping the son of the man who led him to the path of good?
Tumblr media
It is the most natural thing Yamcha can do. As he loved Goku when he was small and innocent now he loves his son. He owes it to him. Personally, I do not consider it an accident that it is Yamcha himself who takes Gohan in his arms. He could have taken care of Trunks' body, but since Yamcha is Goku's guardian he could only take care of his child. Ultimately we can say that Yamcha, in this saga, has taken care of the complete Son family. He cared for Goku during his illness, consoled and comforted Chichi, and finally helped Gohan when the evil had been defeated. I find it emotional that Gohan says thank you to him. It seems like a small thing, but considering Yamcha's treatment in recent years, it is nice to be able to see that characters once respected him for what he did.
Tumblr media
As evidence of his value, there is also this brief exchange of words between Yamcha and Tien in which Yamcha's good heart is emphasized even more. Despite suffering from the fight against the Cell Juniors, one of whom even broke his arm, Yamcha ignores these painful wounds and equally takes the boy in his arms as if nothing happened. It really seems that his desire to protect Gohan is stronger than the suffering he is experiencing physically. Seriously, at this point I really cannot believe how it is possible for such a pure character to be brutally hated or mocked.
Tumblr media
Guys, we are almost finished. Actually I would have gone on even longer than that, but I don't want to bore you so much. I just think Yamcha deserves all this attention, and since we possess few moments of him I feel that dwelling on his seemingly tiny actions is essential to redeem the character. When I say make Yamcha great again I really mean that he was once great in earnest, and I hope that this will be noticed someday even by those who did not understand him enough. Also by reading all of this or other people reflections in the web.
Now let's go back and address an equally historic friendship, that between Yamcha and Krillin.
Tumblr media
Yamcha and Krillin share a deeper bond than people think. For example, many people do not remember that the two of them trained together under Muten's supervision, just as Goku and Krillin did long before; also always together they experienced the Fortuneteller Baba adventure, climbed Karin's tower, and finally trained at the same time in Kami's palace. We can safely say that Yamcha and Krillin share many more moments together than Krillin experienced with Goku, and while this does not necessarily make them best friends, it does not mean that the love they have for each other is any less.
Tumblr media
The result of this important relationship is found once again in the Cell Arc. I told you, this is where Yamcha plays all his cards and shows that he has done everything for everyone.
Tumblr media
The scenes between Yamcha and Krillin are also the simplest in this entire analysis, but I still would not take them for granted. For example, here we witness a psychologically devastating moment for Krillin. His guilt over not pressing the remote control button that would have destroyed Android 18 grips him to the point where he makes the decision to confront Cell and thus repair the damage done, but once again Toriyama Muten stops him because it is not his place to fight. So we see him distressed, angry with himself and in the throes of an impending nervous breakdown, but suddenly a hand rests on his shoulder and with that simple warmth tries to sweep away all his frustration.
Tumblr media
Yeah, it is Yamcha again. Once again he steps in to lift someone's spirits, and while it may not necessarily make Krillin really feel better, it is still to be appreciated that Yamcha did not make him feel alone and guilty at an absolutely sensitive time. I mean, the world was also falling apart because of that fatal decision by Krillin. It is normal that he felt wrong, but Yamcha immediately puts himself in his friend's shoes and without a second thought rescues him as much as he can, because he cannot accept Krillin's collapse. Controlling every single emotion continues to be crucial.
Be that as it may, I find this scene as touching as it is sad. It is touching because once again Yamcha is there for his friends, but it is sad because if we go back over and review the scene where Yamcha feels impotent in helping Tien, no one rests a hand on his shoulder to make him feel better. Toriyama Muten remains quite impassive and this only increases the sense of uselessness that is intended to be given to Yamcha. I swear to you, writing all this makes me really sick. It's like I see myself in this kind of unfair loneliness that never seems to want to let him go.
Tumblr media
Well, however, this is not the end of the story. Actually I would say that now the most depressing part of the topic begins. When I say that Yamcha was destroyed in every possible way, I really mean in every possible way. Although this saga indeed contains so many good moments of him, it is also the arc that definitively marks his death. In fact, from this moment on, Yamcha is deprived even of his only purpose, which is to get married, because he is given over to Krillin himself. The decision to tie him to Android 18 is as beautiful as it is sadistic, if we see the whole situation from Yamcha's point of view. Krillin has never expressed a desire to marry and fall in love. From the beginning, he has always seen martial arts as an excuse to impress girls, and while this does not mean that he should not find a woman for life, it is quite unfair that once again Yamcha's wish has gone unheeded. This would have been the perfect opportunity to fulfill his dream, but for who knows what reason (come on, we know why by now…) they decided that it should be Krillin who should get married. Mind you, I am absolutely happy for him. The Krillin/18 couple is one of the most beautiful. All I am saying is that it is not fair to a character who has ALWAYS sought love. His misfortune in love is no longer funny. Being a positive character, I think it is fair to give him at least a win, but as we will see somehow Yamcha will make his case in other ways. He is not the type to be so easily put down, and that is why his many facets make him one of the most interesting characters in Dragon Ball.
Tumblr media
This is one of the most tender moments in Dragon Ball but also one of the most misunderstood. Yamcha comes off as a bit of a fool in this scene because he is the only one who is afraid of Android 18, but I defy anyone not to have smiled a little at his comedy. After so many episodes where we have been with dread in our eyes because of Cell, Yamcha's lightheartedness is a breath of fresh air. In a way, it is as if he takes us back in time, when in Dragon Ball we rejoiced over little. He is the fighter who keeps the soul of OG Dragon Ball alive.
Tumblr media
But Yamcha doesn't just make us laugh. Yamcha shows us that after all the hatred felt for Cell it is love that is what remains. Love and hope. Although Goku is gone, the world keeps turning and it is absolutely necessary to continue to have faith and live life even more than before. Therefore Yamcha does not hesitate and, as a good friend, does everything to help Krillin hope. If it were not for his encouraging words, Krillin would have left the palace disappointed to have missed an important opportunity. Instead, Yamcha instills in him a small chance, helps him notice that Android 18's does not feel like a farewell, and most importantly, he does not make him feel unworthy. A similar thing happens in the videogame FighterZ, where Yamcha and Krillin have a conversation about women and it turns out that Krillin has an attraction to female androids. He seems ashamed of this, but Yamcha doesn't mind. On the contrary, he reassures his friend to never make him feel wrong, because at the end of the day, love has no limits and he knows well that. He supports him. He supports everybody, but unfortunately nobody supports him. That's why we have to do it!
Tumblr media
I have always found this lovely. Yamcha always cheered for his friends, even when they managed to get married. He was never envious, never tried to stand in the way of their happiness, always smiled for them. This is the most beautiful characteristic of Yamcha, especially when we consider that it is highly likely that this disproportionate love he feels for others goes hand in hand with his sense of loneliness. It is as if helping others distracts him from the sense of failure he feels for himself.
Tumblr media
Like here. It almost seems as if Krillin is apologizing for stealing his chance to get married. As if he's trying to say "hey man, sorry I'm the one who found love and not you. I am so sorry that your fate in this story is so bad. You don't deserve it, friend". It's just a figure of speech, because obviously there is no connection between Yamcha and Android 18, but I think you get my point.
Tumblr media
Yamcha even calls him silly. Not only because one should never apologize when it comes to love, but especially because it is not his style to stand in the way of the feeling that most represents him. Oh please, let's ignore that Yamcha has to give an expensive necklace to his "girlfriend." I gather from these few words that she is definitely not the kind of woman he deserves, but we will talk about that another time. Regardless, it is good to see Krillin smiling thanks to Yamcha, since until recently he was sad about losing Android 18 and especially his close friend Goku. He would have returned to the Kame House in the wrong mood, and we all know how a bad day can be fatal. Who knows, maybe it is because of this nudge from Yamcha that Krillin and Android 18 got together.
We end this long journey in the present with this beautiful frame of Krillin saying thank you to Yamcha, just as Gohan had done. I think this is the saga where he is finally given the gratitude he deserves, and all in all it's okay. It's just too bad that this is the last time Yamcha will be respected. And as I have already reiterated, it is unfortunate that few people have noticed this. We will see a little something in the Buu Arc, but it certainly won't be enough.
Tumblr media
I want to conclude this analysis with a simple reflection. I hope everyone is aware that the main theme of the Androids and Cell saga is hope. Hope is what drove Mirai Trunks to the past, and as I have already said, hope is the only thing that remains in his future.
If we focus on this word, doesn't it seem to you that Yamcha is the total reincarnation of this feeling? Think about it. He is the only one who has never stopped hoping. He has hoped for Goku and because of his trust he has reassured Chichi as well; he has hoped for Gohan, for Tien, for Kuririn and finally for other characters that we will analyze in the last chapter.
In short, Yamcha is the bearer of hope in the present. He is the one who kept it alive so that the world would not fall apart as it did in the future. Yamcha is hope itself. So... If hope is absolutely indispensable in Trunks' horrendous future, why shouldn't we think Yamcha is indispensable for Dragon Ball?
Well, thank you for getting here.
See you for the last chapter: The Future.

Hello. Can I apply if they are still open? Can I have a Raiden x reader please? I would like to see comfort or anxiety (?)She is an excellent informant, constantly living under the guise of other people. Her motives and behavior are constantly changing. Everyone finds her somewhat threatening because they can't figure out what's on her mind. Raiden knows her a little better and at one moment finds her completely broken, because living someone else's life, knowing everything about everyone, is difficult and destructive for the psyche.Sorry, I do not speak english well. I hope my request will be clear...Thanks in advance <3
Of course! I really needed an excuse to do a oneshot with this man HAHAHA (Sorry if it took too long :c)

Yandere! Raiden x Female reader
Yandere character: Raiden/Jack.
From the videogame/serie/book/movie/manga or anime: Metal Gear saga.
Case: Stalking, a little mention of illegal investigation, comfort and anxiety for the reader <3.
Warnings: Nao nao.
Part: 1 of 1
Finished: Yes.
Tumblr media
(You never knew Raiden much, in fact, you only exchanged words with him a handful of times. It was the same with the rest of the team; you just do the most important thing, and then the rest doesn't matter.)
You had a somewhat complex job, the change in personality and appearance was almost as constant as drinking water. And lately, those “jobs” had appeared with more regularity. They were more than your mind could handle; especially with how seriously you took the job you had been assigned.
Especially with how difficult it was to deal with the people you encountered. As an informant, you had a hard time coping with your mental health due to overwork.
Although, you hated being so untalkative; There were very few people you genuinely talked to with confidence, and especially at work. And while you always sought to maintain a constant line of respect with everyone you met, you never felt a level of connection of genuine friendship with anyone.
Without many options, you tried not to overthink. Between all your mistakes in doing various jobs during the most recent week, along with recent arguments with your family led you to be tired, but not physically.
It had been a particularly complex day for you. In fact, this whole week was being especially difficult for you.
—How many times do I have to tell you that I'm fine?
—You know it's not that, I just think…
—This is the fourth time this week you've called me! —You gritted your teeth, trying to suppress how irritated you were—. You almost ruined my job today, the same thing happened yesterday and the day before yesterday, don't you understand how important this is to me?!
The woman on the other end of the phone sighed somewhat heavily.
—I feel like this job is slowly consuming you, I'm afraid you might be having a hard time because of this.
—But..! —Before you could deliberately let out any insults, you threw your back slightly back, hitting the fluffy pillow of the backrest, before remaining silent.
The chair moved smoothly due to your abrupt tilt. The smell of dust invades your senses as you tried to stay calm. The other person you were talking to was a close aunt of yours, she was like your second mother, and she called you often, so often that even your mother more than once threatened to take her cell phone away from her if she didn't let you in peace.
—Listen, dear —She began, a noise from the television playing on her side of the call —.I'm sorry to be so annoying, but I think it's been many months since we saw each other in person, and I'm worried that there's something wrong with you or someone trying to revent you from talking to me and your mother.
Even if you wanted to respond, you just listened to her.
—If you don't want to talk, that's fine, just call us from time to time, okay? —She continued, but she was called by a couple of knocks on her door—well, sweetheart, I have to go, I love you.
She cuts off your call before you could answer, leaving you silent, alone.
You removed your cell phone from your ear, placing the object on the table now. Your gaze remained fixed on the screen, thoughtful.
Doubt arose in your head; How long had it been?
Because you were so busy, the days flew by, as if what had happened 5 months ago had happened yesterday. Checking your calendar, you realized that it had indeed been a long time since you last saw your mother and aunt.
You looked at the images and information that you had hanging on the furniture in front of you, noticing that the amount of words and images that were located there was… excessive.
In fact, it had been a long time since you last hung out with someone you really trusted. Part of you thinks it's because you're so used to no one waiting for you. But, now you feel a gradual change about your past decisions.
Mom was waiting for you at home, longing for you to be safe, maybe thinking that someone is hurting you, or taking you away from her, or killing you.
You panted heavily, leaning down to touch the pad of your phone with the tip of your finger.
Mom is worried, and your aunt too.
Tell me, why the hell do you care more about a fucking job? Unlike the other people there, at least you had a family. Why were you working so many extra hours to investigate, to reinforce your performance? Was all this really about the money? Or was it because you like to rack your brains over topics that don't even concern you?
Your heart rate increases slightly, along with a slight feeling of weight on your chest. That same feeling that had haunted you so much that day.
They are worried about you, why do you ignore them? And your friends? Do they no longer exist for you?
Why the fuck are you still in that job after so many years and all the shit you had to see?
Physical torture, manipulation of all people with important information, death…, and many more things that you preferred not to remember.
So many people with whom you interacted and pretended that they were reliable friends, who for endless hours you dedicated yourself to listening to their problems or their deepest thoughts, so that in the end they end up dead.
And partly, his death was your fault. Tell me, how far are you willing to go? How far are you going to justify your complicity in the death of so many people?
Are a few dollars equivalent to the death of these people?
Your heartbeat increases, while small drops begin to fall from your cheeks. But you didn't sob at any point.
You could feel your hands shaking. You ran your palms over your face, gently covering your entire face. And you just sobbed softly, trying to vent all your thoughts clinging to your chest and stuck deep in your mind.
In short, there was no one but you in that small place you called “your research office.”
Then, a hand on your shoulder catches your attention.
—(Name)?
His voice sounded soft, unlike how it normally sounded. Quickly, your hands left your face, while your head along with your shoulders moved slightly to where you heard the voice.
—S-shit… —You gasped, before grabbing a used napkin to quickly wipe your cheeks and eyes, —…, I didn't know you were around.
Because of how quickly you went through the paper cloth, and because of the time that had passed since the last time you used it, your skin ended up scratched and somewhat bruised.
After that, you threw the paper into the trash can—although the trash can was overflowing with papers—and you pretended to arrange some papers of your desk.
—Why are you here..? —You hesitated, but before you expected it, he took the papers.
—Are you ok?
The question didn't take you so much by surprise, but it did take your sensitive heart, which longed for that human contact, even if it was only through words.
—Yes, why would I be…?
He grabs the back of the swivel chair, before moving it so you're facing him.
—You do not look well.
It was too obvious that you couldn't pretend to be bad right now, but you also didn't want to look this vulnerable to him.
—I just had a… family problem —You answered simply.
He didn't look entirely convinced, but he let go of the back of the chair, at least giving you some space.
—You've been very busy this week, are you sure you're okay? —He insisted, his gaze traveling a little over your face.
Small parts of your face, like your nose or the dark circles on your eyes, were slightly scratched. And your eyes were still with a tearful sheen along with a poorly hidden trace of the tears that had escaped from you.
Among all your classmates, you thought anyone could find you in a vulnerable situation like this, except him.
But in the end, you needed someone by your side so you could let go of all the thoughts you had inside of you.
—Actually… I feel like… it's been a long time.
He was confused, but didn't mention anything.
—My aunt called me, and she told me that she was worried about me… —You started your explanation —…, but she had already called me like twice or more during the week, so I… was a little angry.
Your voice cracked softly as you progressed in what you were telling him, while your heart rate increased again.
—I yelled at her and told her to stop interfering in my work, I thought that if I told her it was okay, then she wouldn't be worried —You continued, your hands shaking again —, but she just told me that… it had been a long time since the last time we saw each other in person.
Your hand went to cover half of your face, while the other stayed on the table, trying not to move it too much.
—Her voice sounded so soft that I remembered that… —The hand on your face clung to your skin, as if you were holding back your tears —…, it's been like 6 months since the last time I saw them.
He knew that you were bad, that you had a bad week, even how your aunt was bothering you with her calls, but still, he listened to you.
—And well; One thing led to another and I thought that… I was selfish, and that I can't treat a family member of mine like that, you know? —You looked at Raiden, but you just sighed, a little broken due to crying —, although it sounds silly… because both you and the other people here can't even go back to their homes or have a normal life and they're here… But me? I am crying because of this nonsense of mine.
The tears continued to come, as you slowly lost control of your words.
—Sometimes I just want to quit, all these thoughts about my job are too much some days, you know? —You gasp again with some difficulty—. Sometimes I think about everything I saw; You and other people have reached a point of almost no return, and I've seen so many things while pretending to be other people that I thought… Why am I still here? Why can't I stop all this and go back to my mother? Why can't I… go home?
you got up roughly from your seat, the chair going violently backwards, colliding with a giant blackboard.
—I think I'm just… talking stupid things now, I'm sorry, Raiden, —You apologized, exchanging glances with him again —. Sorry if I wasted your time…
One of his hands subtly went to your cheek, passing over one of your tears.
—It's not stupid —He whispers, the pad of his thumb making gentle movements over your skin, —, after all, I've been seeing you a little down for two days. And I don't think thinking about renounce is exactly something light.
Even if his understandable words took you by surprise, you felt the center of your chest warm up, slowly easing the weight.
—I'm sorry… I didn't think I worried you —You whisper, a slight smile on your face.
—Don't worry about it, —He whispered, almost as if he wanted to make sure you were calm.
You kept looking at him, almost as if you were lost in his eyes.
—You could ask for a day off after all this —He mentions, almost casually—, you don't have to make hasty decisions because of those things.
You came to your senses, before continuing to talk to him.
You never thought that someone like him could be so understanding of topics that are so… ordinary. But you were really grateful to find someone who can listen to you without judging you in such a way. He actually spoke to you like one friend to another, as if he knew exactly what to say so you could trust him and vent your thoughts to him.
After a while, you finally felt like that mental fatigue had abandoned you like a South American father abandoned his newborn child.
—Thank you, Raiden —You tell him, at the same time that you felt the edge of your lips curve into a smile—. I really needed to talk to someone.
It was the first time you saw him smile, which made you feel calmer.
Can I give you a hug? —You ask him kindly, it was common that you didn't know how to interact normally with someone like him.
He only responded by walking closer to you, before gently wrapping his arms around you. He didn't use any force, in fact you just felt his arms collide with your body. He was so gentle that you just rested your head against his chest, both of your hands going to the top of his back.
Even with certain parts of him being cyborg, you felt warm in his embrace. There were no longer traces of sadness in your heart, only a feeling of security running through your soul.
When you both separated, you couldn't help but continue smiling at him. Although unfortunately, due to the hours they were in, he had to leave your office again.
And when you both said goodbye, you gave him another hug, a quicker one since you wanted to go to sleep early. And the moment he closed the door, you began to rearrange your desk a little.
And, while you were doing that, he, outside your office, just lit a cigarette, bringing it to his lips as he walked through the place towards the exit.
His mind was filled with new thoughts; Now that he had gained more of your trust, he could give himself the freedom to greet you or talk to you more normally, unlike before.
The only thing that calmed him down was that no one was coming near you. It wasn't because of him, in fact he was one of the few people who could approach you, without wanting to get away from you as quickly and subtly as possible, that made his job easier.
And, in fact, he is visibly…inclined to like (Name).
He smiled at the new idea he had, before taking another drag of the cigarette, knowing that he was getting closer to the person he loved so much.
Although he wished he could make sure your aunt doesn't bother you so much, it bothers him to hear her voice so many times during the week.

Even though I've got many commissions to catch up on, I took time out of my day to draw a quick little tribute to Toriyama. It's hard to fully express how he completely changed my life. I remember being 5 and first discovering Dragon Ball Z, it was like a dream. He continued to captivate me with his writing, with this community he created, with the lives he impacted. Whenever I was having a hard time, I would rewatch Dragon Ball and no longer feel alone. Whenever I was being bullied at school, I could briefly talk to those same bullies about Dragon Ball Z and it was like the hurt no longer existed for even just a moment. Thankyou Akira Toriyama, for everything you've done for me and everyone whose grown up with and/or discovered dragon ball, especially for those who discovered it and needed it during the hardest times in our lives. I've drawn trunks because he was always my favourite.
Admittedly I've cried today and I'm tearing up again as I write this, but I imagine Toriyama would send us off with a bright smile, the same way that Goku did to Gohan during the Cell Saga.

Are we sure Gohan isn't a Legendary Super Saiyan ?
Bare with me I have an idea, now for context I'm aware Legendary Super Saiyan is the name given to DBZ Broly, I am using it in place of DBS Broly's Form as it is easier and more consistent than the names he currently has for it.
Now what I mean by this is, I hypothesis that Gohan is like Broly, a mutant Saiyan, my basis for this is the sheer rage they both share.
now, that isn't to say no other Saiyan gets angry or to ignore Gohan's hybrid Saiyan origin, however in that regard if we observe the other instances of hybrid Saiyans neither (for this we observe Trunks and Goten as both are 50% Saiyan like Gohan and have been observed in combat) exhibit the same extreme power boost that Gohan experienced with his rage moments.
Remember Gohan at age four experienced a power boost with his rage so powerful he was able to injure Radius who was multiple times stronger than himself(most sources say Gohan had a power level of 3 and jumped to a power level of 1307, which if cannon is a roughly 453x boost), neither Goten or trunks received such a boost in any arcs they were in, this include future trunks as while his rage moments were more explosive than his younger self's, with the exception of super Saiyan rage which I would chalk up more to him getting Godly Ki by training with Past Vegeta ( though I fully admit this is my interpretation and could be wrong).
From what can be observed Gohan's rage is massively powerful and more potent than other Half Saiyans, which leads me to the only other massive increase Via Rage we see in the series.
In DBS Super Broly, we discover that Broly a mutant of the Saiyan species is able to access the boost of Ozaru form without having access to his tail or the full moon. We also observe the longer he fights the stronger he gets, going from getting manhandled by Ssj1 Vegeta to being able to harm Ssj blue Goku and Vegeta before going Super/Legendary Super Saiyan.
Now assumedly the reason Gohan Was not born with Broly's power level (10,000) is due to his Half human origins, shoving his potential away until his body could handle it (which granted is a stretch though possible as our IRL Bodies hold us back from functioning at 100% as well).
Which then leads me to their transformations, it is widely believed that Gohan's Ssj2 has a higher multiple than other Ssj2 transformations, especially when Gohan is in a state of Combat Atrophy(I.E Buu Saga) during the fight with Dabura who was stated to be as strong as Perfect cell, Gohan was still stronger than him and was able to defeat him. It also never takes long to train Gohan back up to his peak, (I.E Gohan's training with piccolo during the tournament of power that made him on par with that version of Ssj blue Goku )
And this becomes even more amplified when you take into account Gohan's New Gohan Beast form, which I feel like is the equivalent to Broly's Full power Super Saiyan/Legendary Super Saiyan form.
So with all that in mind while I don't believe there will be a twist reveal that Gohan was a Legendary Super Saiyan the whole time it's interesting how alike both Broly and Gohan are, maybe if Paragus was more like Goku or Piccolo Broly would have been more well adjusted and even more powerful.

whoops my hand slipped so now instead of starting on my lit project due tomorrow i have to analyse the circe saga <3
okay side note: this might go from a full-on analysis to incoherent rambling so heads up. uh also not in any order, especially not chronological. anyway let’s get this party started!!
puppeteer
okay first one. wasn’t too sold on this one at first (not like the other ones *cough* wouldn’t you like *cough*) but like?? wow
circe’s voice!!
‘a woman’ ‘what’
ody just. brushing eurylochus away he sounds so donelike not done just. tired of life. if yk what i mean. like he doesn’t have beef with eurylochus specifically but like he’s just irritated with the world
the soldiers!! like if i were one of them i would have willingly get turned into a pig by circe (but like, i’m not a guy so idk)
the sounds of waves im not sure if it was actually there or just my imagination but still.
the start of the song echoes the melody of the first part of full speed ahead?? like i was singing it in my head before the words of puppeteer actually sunk in
it sounds so party-ish like i can imagine the vibes no wait i can feel the vibes it’s party vibes. i can imagine the soldiers getting drunk on the wine and lust. i can smell the wine. i can hear the music blasting from the shitty speakers hidden in the corners of the too-crowded room. i’ve never been to a party before. you can probably tell.
what was the thing that eurylochus wanted to say tho?? i’m curious. ppl who read the odyssey, was this interaction mentioned or made-up, and if it did happen, is it relevant to the plot? do we find out what he wanted to tell ody?
why is ody’s voice so deep
very gentle waves-esque music at the start. lulls us into a false sense of security. makes us think the island is safe. it isn’t. we’ve all been fooled by circe’s tricks.
‘there’s only so much more we can endure’ my poor boy this isn’t half of it
alternative take: they are traumatised babies we must protect them with our lives
alternative alternative take: and whose fault was that, ody? hmm? was it perhaps, the fault of a reckless captain who decided to fucking reveal his name-
oh my gods the way he just starts straight-up rapping-
‘we have to go save them’ ‘no we don’t’ well damn eurylochus who hurt you like this that was real quick
ody’s ‘damn’ like sir i know you’re contemplating running to said woman in question he sounds seduced already and he hasn’t even met the witch yet
eurylochus’ ‘okay’ sounds really dejected this probably doesn’t mean anything but that’s the point of an analysis so-
hey hey hey don’t greet the mysterious voice why are you doing that i thought you guys learnt your mistake(s)!!
oh oh oh her voice is so pretty it’s so good!!
she’s so bold and confident she’s amazing ahhhhh
her revealing her name! this says something like yk ‘names have power’ i can’t remember if it was pjo universe or actual facts but the fact that circe’s so sure of her ability to defend herself and her nymphs she gives away her name to ppl freely
oh so that’s how you pronounce circe (i just assumed it had a silent e)
you’re the only one who stayed outside?? hmm? eurylochus? well at least you learnt something
haha the soldiers sound so happy to be there
i don’t blame them tho they’re super tired they just want and need a safe place to rest
yeah that’s right don’t fucking underestimate women
uhm circe i don’t thing getting turned into pigs is gonna be the best part of these soldiers lives i think the best part passed before troy
no no no do not trust ppl who offer food did you not learn from the lotus eaters are you complacent who has the brain cell eurylochus give it back to the soldiers they need it more
awww thanks for the support circe <3
i would gladly let circe puppeteer me esp mythological!circe she’s so
‘and it wasn’t quick’ oh.
uh is this an inappropriate time to make a joke about furries bc pigs don’t have fur and the soldiers are dying-
‘the world does not tend to forgive’ ok lesson imparted from all-powerful being check
eurylochus hi yes you should have learnt not to abandon your friends uh but i don’t blame him tho poor guy just wants to get home (he never will)
‘but i can hardly sleep now knowing what we have done’ haha ody you’re not gonna like what comes next :3
‘i can still hear her still’ ooooh he’s Traumatised he has ptsd :))
‘i can only hope you’ll do the same’ ody go easy on him
oh circe is really protective of her nymphs
as she rightfully should
oh i’m done
wouldn’t you like
whoo my favourite
like no offense to the others but hermes!!
his voice is so gravelly wow
his laugh sounds so mischievous fit for a trickster god
‘i must say what a brilliant speech u gave’ this implies that hermes was watching them, or more specifically, odysseus, for at least long enough to hear the conversation. which means that there’s a solid chance that hermes was in it for the gossip and stayed for the drama
there’s a betting pool up on olympus. probably. definitely.
‘you’ll need the blessing of a certain god’ when this gets an adaptation, hermes will probably do like a hair flip or something. it’s in character for him to do that, right? right?
he has an accent but what accent does he have
oh my gods hermes that was such an awful pun i had to laugh
‘hermes?’ okay hear me out ody sounds like a mystified child who can’t believe his eyes (or in this case ears)
the laugh
he sounds more amused than anything else (he doesn’t really care, not right now, it’ll just be another fun tale to tell at parties)
was that a roar i heard?? a roar?? like the chimera??
oh oh oh when he’s describing circe he sounds so fascinated by her (probably me to my irl friends) like he doesn’t care? about the fate of the ppl he’s describing? he’s just? like ‘wow circe can do that isn’t that cool anyway-‘
like idk how to describe it
the emphasis he places on certain words it’s so cool to listen to (i’m running out of synonyms for amazing help)
oooooh the electric/techy feel to the song like ik it was explained in one of the videos that the gods have more electronic feel to their songs but it’s so!! cool!!
‘you can be hurt or you can beat her’ the play on words!! wow!! it’s just-
‘all you need’s imagination’ wow uh. this seems important. but uh.
‘and i call this root: holy moly’ hermes. i hate your puns. i hate them so much.
i am now compelled to explain the pun. damnit.
so basically only the gods can acquire the root. was it blessed by the gods? if it was, add a second layer to the meaning of this and ignore the question :)) and it rhymes!! holy and moly rhyme!! whoo
ody’s ‘ah’ he sounds so done
wait but hermes when he says ‘and i call this root: holy moly’ he sounds so proud of himself oh my gods like no that is not something to be proud of that is so awful ugh
‘hermes. thank you.’ oh? he appreciates his help? like he sounds so grateful wow
‘dont thank me friend you may very well die :))’ this further proves my theory that hermes is only in this for the drama?? okay yeah drama
‘good luck’ see it’s an afterthought. but he thought of ody. huh.
two more to go!!
done for
also was very very excited for this
did not disappoint
the intro is basically *epic fight music*
okay ody sounds like he’s smiling but not like a forced smile it might be genuine? like why would it be genuine? okay yeah it might be because he is confident he’s gonna win the fight. he has a god on his sight. it’s failproof. he has the flower. he doesn’t have to be scared. is this hubris?
‘through the years we seldom get a warm welcome’ okay ody. you were fighting a war. then you intruded into a cyclops’ cave. then you angered poseidon. of course you don’t get a warm welcome what were you expecting?
‘who me? all i did was reveal their true form :))’ u turned them into pigs :/‘ ‘huh.’ their banter wow.
*more epic fight music*
see the nymphs again!! she’s very very protective of them!!
‘i don’t mean to tip your scale’ ody stop lying. you did mean to tip her scale.
‘hermes gave it to you didn’t he’ ‘okay well yes fine but regardless-‘ i love love love the friendly banter between them idk but i think that in another lifetime under better circumstances they would have been really good friends
also implied that hermes has done this before so haha
‘friends i can’t neglect’ see i think this whole verse is the similarities between them see they could have been friends i know it i can feel it in my bones
*even more fight music*
the sword sound skjskjskjskjs
‘you’ve lost’ okay uh i think that was albeit too fast don;t you think so, ody? ody?
‘my nymphs are like my daughters i protect them at all costs’ yes see this is what i’ve been trying to say thanks circe
but the rhythm for this verse is so good it’s so ethereal wow
‘but everyone’s true colours are revealed in acts of lust’ circe. circe no. bad circe. stay away from ody he’s a married man
‘i’m not sure i follow’ oh ody. you poor, innocent child.
okay but his voice was so gravelly tho-
idk i don’t think circe was doing this to feed her own lust. like i don’t think she has feelings for ody or anything like i feel that she was doing exactly what she said and trying to find out what his true colours were so she could decide if she wanted to help him
last one!! not gonna like it a lot ‘cause seduction but hey greet the world with open arms am i right?
there are other ways
oh. this one.
i’m not really comfortable with this because there isn’t any point in seduction why does it exist ew
‘there are other ways of persuasion’ oh really? then show me your chimera i bet it’s cooler than whatever you’re gonna do to ody
‘there are other means of deceit’ this shows that circe is gonna convince ody to cheat on his wife but [spoiler alert] he doesn’t (for now) (i think) like deceit as in he’s deceiting his wife
okay i love the repetition here like ‘there are other…’ blah blah blah like wow. i like it. i don’t get it, but i like it.
‘want to save your men from the fire? show that you’re willing to burn’ woah. vfd core. so like this implies that she and her nymphs were planning on cooking the men-turned-into-pigs?? and also it’s a metaphor!! whoo my lit teacher would be proud of me (but less proud for not doing the project which is actual school work)
‘but there’s no puppet here’ okay so this shows that circe views ody as more powerful and resistant to her (and also her magic bc of the holy moly thingy) and less likely to fall prey to her charms (i would)
ody doesn’t know if he can manipulate his way out of this problem hah
okay dont kill me for this but i think that the ‘just a man’ references in the song feel a bit forced bc they’re like,,, they don’t fit
but. i think that like it’s ody trying to break out of the spell? that circe put on him to seduce him or smth like before that he was in sync then he tried to fight off the thingy by like going against the rhythm if yk what i mean
the transition from ‘forgive meeeee’ to ‘i can’t’ is so good aghhh
‘and she’s all my power’ ah this here is a clear piece of evidence that ody is the bottom in the relationship
‘and let us puppets leave’ oh? he’s like sympathizing with her and like trying to see from her perspective so he can leave more easily
‘poseidon, eh?’ haha mood
oh they’re kinda friends whoo :)
‘i know of a brilliant prophet, problem is this prophet is dead’ *music stops momentarily, transitions to very underworld-y music*
haha wait that was so funny
who was the prophet tho?
‘wait you’re helping us?’ he sounds so shocked
‘maybe one day the world will need a puppeteer no more’ this could imply that circe is suicidal?? whoops am i projecting
no but the genius lyrics said that the last few lyrics were sung by the soldiers they sound like theyre under a spell oh my gods imagine pigs singing this haha i think this is just like circe undoing the spell on them tho
whoo done!!
hi remember i’m just a random teen on the internet! no obligation to listen to me and my 10.37 pm rants!

Gohan and Future Trunks Deserve Better
I have been getting back into DBZ and my love for Gohan and Future Trunks has been reignited. And I am just craving fics where these two precious gems can be doted on and pampered. Because they deserve it! Unfortunately, DBZ fanfiction is not awashed with soft, tender moments :(.
I just need to rant.
Let's start with Gohan. The best Saiyan hybrid. No one, not even Future Trunks, can compete with Gohan's top hybrid status. I know Gohan is not a fighter like his dad and he fights mainly to protect people...but I wish more fanfic writers would explore this as a trauma response. Think about it. Piccolo kidnapped him and forced him into the Saiyan fight. As much as I gush over the Piccolo & Gohan relationship, Piccolo's crimes can't be forgotten. He forced Gohan into fighting and he was not a nurturing teacher. Gohan's first experience with fighting was severely traumatizing. He endured all those brutal fights as a kid, a baby. He faced Frieza, the emperor of the universe, when he was FIVE YEARS OLD. Then the fate of the world was placed on his shoulders when he was 10 when he fought against Cell. Talk about a messed-up childhood.
Then we have the post Cell saga. I understand Goku wanting to stay dead to protect his family - I will never respect that decision. But he failed Gohan as a dad. Can we talk about the likely parentification Gohan would have experienced?? With Goku dead, Gohan is basically the head of the house. I can see Gohan being Chi Chi's support, especially when Goten came into the picture. So not only was Gohan thrusted into fighting and horrific battles throughout his childhood, but now when he needs his father the most as a young man he has no dad. I hope Krillin acted as a father figure. The Z fighters treat Gohan as one of the boys so much that they often forget he's a freaking child. Please get Gohan some therapy. The curse of being the oldest kid. You never get to be sheltered like the younger kids :(
And you best believe that Gohan had to step up as head of the family AGAIN when Goku decided to go on a training trip with Uub with a TBD timeframe. I know Gohan was a grown man then but still...
And now Future Trunks. Oh poor Future Trunks. After all he has been through, my boy Trunks deserves the world and an eternal vacation. Being the Earth's last hope is a heavy burden. Especially when you are not qualified. It's only fairly recently (maybe last year) that I learned that Trunks is not a good fighter. But you can't blame him. His training was severely limited and he was constantly fighting for his life.
The biggest disappointment of the Cell saga is that Trunks did not have a single mentor. By then, Trunks' epic entrance against Frieza should have worn off and it's disgraceful that no one took the time to train this kid. Vegeta should have taken Trunks under his wing but Vegeta couldn't give a damn. But come on, Goku, Piccolo?? Anyone? Even Popo would be better than nothing! Why didn't Piccolo take Trunks with him into the time chamber?? Someone give this guy some training! How could any of the Z fighters feel comfortable letting Trunks go back to the future with his lack of fighting skill?!!!
And I feel so bad for Trunks when it comes to Vegeta. Bulma sold her son a romanticized version of Vegeta and the man was a massive disappointment. Vegeta did not deserve such a sweet, loyal son like Trunks. Imagine you grow up in this dystopian world and you try to save another timeline even though yours will not be directly benefited. Then your foolish dad, in his quest for power, spits in your face and allows another monster to destroy the timeline you risked your neck to save. With Krillin's lovesick antics, Vegeta's testosterone stupidity and the Z fighters just being an uncoordinated mess, I am surprised Trunks did not tear his hair out in frustration.
Kid Trunks should be happy that Future Trunks was Vegeta's guinea pig for fatherhood. I mean I love Vegeta's character arc but I feel jealous on Trunks' behalf to see Vegeta become such a huge softy with Bra/Bulla.
And then Future Trunks has to go back home where he is the sole defender of Earth. And from what I hear, he loses everything in DBS. Can we just give Trunks a happy ending?! Forget Buu and the other intergalactic crazies! Just let Trunks be a teenager! Let him have awkward dates! Let him be a kid! Let him marry a sweet girl and have a family!! My boy deserves peace!!!
I just want to wrap Gohan and Future Trunks in soft blankets and hide them away.

You said this was a rewrite... what was the original plot of the story going to be like?
The original story was supposed to be very different... It was going to be more low-stakes, so to speak... It was merely about Meta Knight becoming Kirby's father figure and him learning to adjust to the peace after the war... but it's pretty much become a grand epic now.
(this was before the Star Allies saga and Planet Robobot...)
I had the beginning and ending planned out, so here's the ending of the story:
*knuckle crack*
As the story progresses & Kirby takes out all of the game villains, Kirby becomes really famous at this point... and then that's when $h*t hits the fan!
In the original story, Sir Arthur was the surprise villain (or secret villain, if you will)... this was when it was trending back then (the Dinsey Frozen Era...).
He sees Kirby as a chance to restore the GSA to its former glory. Now that Kirby has gained fame from his adventures, he sees his as the perfect opportunity to rip him away from Dreamland and take him away from all his friends and family...
It all comes to a head when Sir Arthur comes to Dreamland in person for the first time and reveals his master plan. Basically, making him the poster boy of the GSA. And another revelation: MK was in on it too... this was what Meta Knight had been training Kirby for all along.
(Quietly in the background for each arch of the story... Sir Arthur's intentions were hinted at and revealed more until we reached this point...)
Originally, MK wasn't as kind as the rewritten MK (the current one); he was crueler back then. The original story was going to be about how his time with Kirby brought back his humanity.
BETRAYAL ARC! (Grand Finale GSA vs Dreamland)
The Kirby gang feels backstabbed by Meta Knight's shocking reveal, especially Kirby. He thought Meta Knight had grown to care for him... (but MK had: he just was in denial). He kept insisting that his duty had always come first. This breaks Kirby's heart; he tells MK that he hates him and he isn't gonna go with him...
Sir Arthur had trained MK and taken him in for the sole purpose of using him as a weapon. (living war machine) Meta Knight was doing the same thing to Kirby... but he can't bring himself to force him into that lifestyle. (and how messed up it was, yadda, yadda, yadda.)
The reason why Arthur was able to let MK join the GSA is that Galacta Knight had turned MK into a monster... by order of Nightmare. Sir Arthur saw an opportunity to manipulate Meta Knight into a weapon of his own design... (to him, he was in the right because it was for the greater good.)
And the Meta Knight would come to terms with how precious Kirby was to him... and how awful he feels now. The ends did not justify the mean... He'd realize his time and Dreamland had changed him, and he saw Kirby more than a potential soldier... he saw him as his own child... he certainly wasn't about to let Arthur get away with making Kirby his little poster boy.
So when the time comes for Meta Knight to choose between love & duty, he stands up to his old master and shuts him down... He apologizes to Kirby and tells him how much he means to him. They make up, but this touching moment is cut short then- BAM (180).
Sir Arthur: Well then... I didn't want to do this, but... it looks like I have no choice...
Sir Arthur villain mode is activated. Meta Knights gets arrested and pulls him away from Kirby in a heartbreaking scene. Arthur already started to notice how attached Meta Knight was getting to Kirby, so he prepared for this scenario.
Martial law is enforced by the GSA, and Dreamland is shut down. Sir Arthur uses King Dedede as an excuse since he used to order monsters & reports of him being a tyrant were recorded. (King Dedede wasn't redeemed in the original story yet, so this was his karma.) And Arthur officially dethrones King Dedede... And he's arrested. (throws him in the same jail cell as Meta Knight)
And this was supposed to be the beginning of King Dedede's redemption arc. Now Sir Arthur is using Dreamland & Meta Knight as leverage against Kirby... if he agrees to leave Dreamland permanently and join the GSA... he'll let Meta Knight & the others go.
(Then I think I wrote "dies in a horrible accident," in the original draft while in the jailbreak arc because Galacta Knight shows up to fight MK. And kills Sir Arthur like he's nothing...)
After "Star Allies," the overall message of the story changed... We had so many more revelations and plots added to the franchise that I could not ignore. I gave a whole new meaning to Kirby's story as a whole.
The message I wanted to tell with the story had to change it. All the characters had to get a major overhaul in their personalities.
And I love the new direction I have for the story... And I'm very glad for the changes I've made. Though it's nice to visit the past now again and see how far you've come no matter how cringy.
