Becoming obsessed with OPLA's ost- putting it up on my way to uni and rushing through the rain is suddenly the best thing ever when you have silly pirates' epic theme with you haha
Well I think I might just be too into OPLA as a whole haha, kinda makes me regret why I didn't ever tried watching OP ten years ago despite my very first/oldest middle school friend infodumping on me about it... like come on we could have spend whole evenings fangirling together but no I'm getting into an anime for the first time at only 23yo, even my parents watched some more than me haha (well I didn't have internet 10y ago so that might be why but still-)

Nolin Color Theory Pt. 2
“Ich starre jetzt nur noch die Wand an, machst du mit?” (1047):
Handelt es sich hierbei wieder um dieselbe Farbpalette?? Die Farben, die wir in Noahs Pulli finden, finden wir in anderer Intensität und Helligkeit auch in Colins, wobei der größte Teil in Colins Pulli der kleinste in Noahs ist. Colins Pulli ist dominiert von einem blassen pinken Ton, welcher in seiner Intensität für ein Gefühl von Beruhigung steht. In Sachen Symbolik steht pink vor allem für Liebe und Romantik, aber auch Unschuld. Also wird Colin eventuell in seinen Gefühlen vor allem mit der ersten Liebe konfrontiert, die ihm einen Ort zur Beruhigung und Entspannung bietet.
Im Beginn der nächsten Episode (1048) sehen wir dieselben Pullis noch einmal, was uns eventuell sagt, dass die beiden immer noch mit denselben Gefühlen vom vorherigen Tag geprägt sind.
Der Kuss (1049):
Hier wird es sehr offensichtlich, denn Colin küsst Noah, der ihn nicht zurück küsst und was tragen sie dabei?
Noah ist zurück in seinem schwarzen Pulli vom Anfang, zurück in seiner Mysterie und Trostlosigkeit, darüber, dass sein Film nicht funktioniert hat.
Colin andererseits trägt rot, aka die Farbe der starken Emotionen, die Farbe der großen Liebe. Und auch die Farbe, welche in ihrer Emotion vor allem Aufmerksamkeit erregen will. Colin will von Noah gesehen werden und das wahrscheinlich nicht nur, um ihn irgendwie erfolgreich von seiner Traurigkeit abzulenken, sondern auch, weil er sich endlich eingestanden hat, dass er verliebt ist und denkt, dass dies erwidert wird.
Wir sind also relativ schnell von unschuldiger erster Liebe, verborgen hinter anderen Emotionen, zu wirklich starken Gefühlen gekommen, bei denen es nichts bringt, sie noch weiter drinnen zu halten.
Nach dem Kuss ziehen sich beide jeweils eine schwarze Jacke/Mantel über, was irgendwo auch darauf schließen lässt, dass sie nun beide von derselben Misere gepackt sind und unter den selben runterziehenden Emotionen leiden.
Noah im Wald, Tarnung vor dem Selbst (1050):
Nach dem Kuss und dem Gespräch mit Chung sehen wir Noah alleine im Wald in blau und grün. Da er die Kinotickets aus seiner Jacke holt, ist es sehr eindeutig, dass er an Colin denkt.
Wir sehen wieder das Traurige des blauen und dieses mal in einem eher verblassenen Ton, welcher nicht sonderlich intensiv ist oder groß heraussticht. Eventuell fühlt sich Noah neben traurig nämlich einfach nur leer und verlassen.
Der grüne Trenchcoat, welcher ziemlich stimmig mit den Farben des Waldes und des Baumes ist, lässt eventuell darauf schließen, dass Noah sich verstecken will bzw etwas hat, wovor er sich verstecken sollte. Er versteckt seine Leere vor sich selber und auch das er die Tickets aus der Jacke geholt hatte könnte eventuell darauf hindeuten, dass er das Gefühl hat die ganze Sache mit Colin zu verstecken.
Colins Tränen und das Ende des Films (1050):
Am Ende derselben Episode sehen wir Colin alleine im Dunkeln in einem Outfit, das vor allem hauptsächlich schwarz ist. Doch die Farbe, die wohl am meisten heraussticht, ist das sehr dunkle blau um seinen Kragen. Also basically Colin, welcher abends weinend an eine Filmklappe klammert und dabei von Traurigkeit erstickt wird.
(adding to that: Colin, der die geschlossene Filmklappe umklammert und dabei weint, weil er so langsam begreift, dass seine schöne Zeit und seine Hoffnung vorbei ist)
“Ich will das alles nicht” - “Was Limo trinken?” (1052):
Es ist die letzte Szene der Staffel, im Hintergrund gibt es einen Party voller farbiger Lichter und wir finden Colin und Noah in wiedermals dunklen Klamotten vor. Also fast wieder wie am Anfang, denn auch hier kommt das Problem des Missverständnisses vor. Während Noah denkt, dass alles wieder gut sei, muss ihn Colin des Gegenteils aufklären.
Die beiden werden beleuchtet von einem bläulichen Licht und hinter ihnen sehen wir einen kleinen Teil des gelben hellen Lichts, was eventuell die verpassten Chancen und die vergangene Hoffnung, sowie auch die Freundschaft der beiden darstellen könnte.
Wir enden also so, wie wir begonnen haben; mit Missverständnissen und Distanz. Nur dieses Mal verstecken sie sich hinter diesen positiven Momente der Freundschaft und des Friedens.

Pairing: Hailee Steinfeld x Reader
Request: Hailee Steinfeld x reader: Reader is in a Marvel movie and plays Kate's love interest and while they're on a break, and whenever Jeremy and Florence catch the two doing a couple thing, they poke fun both for that.
A/N: This is my first ever Hailee fic, I hope you like it!

You're on set filming for Hawkeye. You play a character that they're introducing to the show as a love interest for Kate, meaning you spend most of your shooting days with Hailee and quickly grew close with the woman. You had met her a few times before being cast on Hawkeye together, same as with Florence and Jeremy, but never more than a quick hello at a premier.
The whole process of Hawkeye had been an amazing experience for you. When you auditioned for the love interest part, Hailee had already been cast as Kate. So, you were brought in for a chemistry read with her. It was clear to the casting director even before the two of you even started reading lines, that this was a great combination. Of course, you still had to read the lines, but that just made it even more clear that they had found the perfect combination.
You've become great friends with your castmates, it was really a fun team. You had gotten especially close with Hailee and Florence, since you were all around the same age. So, it was no surprise to Florence and Jeremy that when they came back from filming their scene they found you and Hailee hanging out together. However, Florence noticed there was something different about it this time, the two of you were sitting very close together. Florence raised her eyebrow to Jeremy who just shrugged his shoulders. Florence took that as a sign to drop it. For now, at least. They joined you for lunch until you and Hailee were called to the main stage for your next scene.
When you were done with, yet another scene Hailee went back to your trailer with you and stayed to hang out. It was nice not being in your trailer all alone, you definitely hadn't gotten used to that part of being in the acting business.
In your trailer you grabbed the both of you a drink before joining Hailee on the couch. "You did amazing in that scene, Hails." You complimented her as you handed her the drink. She clinked it against yours and said, "You were pretty amazing yourself, babe." You blushed at the nickname and tried to hide your face by looking the other way. Luckily Hailee didn't notice, or at least she pretended that she didn't.
You turn on the TV and continue watching the show you had started together during your breaks. Not soon after you pressed play the two of you were sitting right next to each other again, knees and shoulders touching. It gave you butterflies in your stomach instantly, but you loved it.
Halfway through the episode a scary scene came on you hid your face in Hailee's neck, she reacted with a small chuckle and placed her arm protectively around your shoulder. "Don't worry, I'll protect you." You stayed in the comfort of her hold. Your head laying on her shoulder and her arm hanging comfortably around you.
You were too comfortable to get up when you heard a knock on your door, so you loudly spoke, "Come in." With that the door opened and Florence and Jeremy walked in. Florence noticed the way the two of you were sitting. With a big smile on her face she said to Jeremy, "See, I told you something was going on with those two." This time Jeremy agreed, "Okay okay, you're right.” Then he turned to you, “But love birds, we've got a group scene in 10. So, let's put a hold on the cuddling and get to work, shall we?" He might have some seniority over you, but you all know he was messing with you just as much as Florence was.
Florence and Jeremy leave your trailer with a blushing Hailee and you behind them. Their jokes don't stop you from reaching out for Hailee her hand though. Once they touch Hailee smiles and intertwines her fingers with yours. You walk the rest of the way with the biggest smile on your face.
When you're done filming for the day Hailee walks up to you. "Hey, do you maybe want to go out and get some dinner with me?" She looks a bit nervous before she adds, "Like as a date." Your smile grows even bigger. "I would love to go on a date with you!"
"Yay, I'm so excited." Hailee says as she moves closer to give you a hug. "How about I pick you up from your trailer in about 30 minutes? That way we both have time to take a quick shower and change into our own clothes." You agree with the time and you both head your separate ways.
Exactly half an hour later Hailee knocks on your trailer door. "Hi, are you all ready to go?" You nod and step out of the trailer, "I am." You say taking the hand she reaches out to you.
You have an amazing time at dinner, so much so that you both don't want the night to end yet and end up walking along the river for another hour. Around 10pm Hailee said you should probably get back since you both had an early call-in tomorrow. So, you started walking back to her car.
She drove you back to your rental apartment and even walked you to the door. You thought it was adorable. "So... what are your thoughts on kissing on the first date?" Hailee asks, her eyes glued to yours. As a way of answering her question you lean in, she notices what you're doing and closes the distance. It was a short but sweet kiss, which left you both smiling.
"I'll see you tomorrow, y/n. Goodnight!" Hailee says taking a small step back. "Goodnight Hailee, I had a lot of fun tonight." After saying she did too, Hailee started walking to her car. "Wait Hails, my car is still at the studio!" You call after her.
She turns around, "Oh yeah, I totally forgot. How about I pick you up at 7? I'll bring coffee and breakfast burrito's." She says to convince you. "That sounds good. I'll see you tomorrow bright and early then, goodnight Hails." And with that you walk into the apartment and lay down in your bed thinking back of the day.

The Big German Tween Soap Opera Drama (So far)
Here's the writeup for all those of you who don't go here but still love reading about drama from fandoms you're not in.
What is Schloss Einstein?
Schloss Einstein is a German soap opera aimed at ~10 to 14-year-olds. Since it's been on air since 1998 with 26 seasons and over 1000 episodes, it also has fans beyond its target audience who grew up with it and either never stopped watching it or picked it up again at some point.
The show focuses on the live of students at a fictional boarding school with common themes being love, friendship, slice of life and the occasional comedy or mystery story.
Noah and Colin
In season 26, the show got its first mlm storyline. The show already had a wlw storyline in season 23 that was generally well received and so we had hopes.
In the first episode of season 26, Colin gets two new roommates: Noah and Joel. Joel grows suspicious of Noah because he tends to sneak out at night and won't tell anyone where he's going. Eventually, he and Colin discovder that Noah secretly took his dog Freddy with him and hid him in the woods because his parents wanted to send him to the shelter.
Colin offers to help Noah take care of Freddy and Noah slowly starts to trust Colin. But then the headmaster finds out about Freddy and tells Noah that Freddy can't stay in the woods and has to go to the shelter. Colin wants to apologise to Noah and manages to get tickets to a film premier, but Noah pushes him away. He later apologises to Colin after the principal decides to take Freddy in himself and let Noah visit him whenever he wants.
Later, Noah secretly makes a stop-motion film for a project Colin and Joel are working on and plans to make a live-action horror film as well. However, it doesn't go according to plan and ends up being canceled. Colin comforts Noah and ends up kissing him but Noah runs away right after it. Later that evening, Colin tries to hold Noah's hand but Noah tells him that he's not in love with him.
In the final episode of the season, Colin realises that he can't stay friends with Noah because his romantic feelings for him are too strong - he confesses his love to Noah but walks away without waiting for Noah's answer. Noah doesn't follow him.
The first drama - The disappointing final three episodes
The first drama was the reaction to episode 1049 (Noah tells Colin he's not in love with him), episode 1050 (Noah tells Colin "that's what friends are for" and Colin is later seen crying alone in the dark) and episode 1052 (Colin confesses his love to Noah, walks away and Noah doesn't follow him).
There were a lot of angry comments. Not just from disappointed queer people within the show's target audience but also from disappointed adult queer fans who were concerned that this was sending the wrong message to young queer people - that life would always be hard for them if they happened to be gay.
The second drama - The new opening
Traditionally, the show does an Advent calender on social media with pictures from the upcoming season and finally the new opening.
It was already clear that Colin's actor wouldn't be around for the whole season because he landed a role in a film and his schedule would have overlapped with the shooting of Schloss Einstein. But since the first press release for season 27 stated that there would be 19 main characters and being credited as a main character usually guaranteed that said character would appear in the opening, we had some hope.
Well, the new opening was released and guess what? Colin wasn't in it. Cue another round of angry comments, this time mainly from people in the target demographic who thought Colin wouldn't appear in season 27 at all. And why? Because there was no official info. You had to see a picture a cast member posted on BeReal or read the wiki to know Colin would be in season 27. And even those of us who knew Colin would still be around for at least a few episodes doubt that it will be enough to give his story with Noah a satisfying ending.
And then there's the fact that season 27 is going to focus on a mystery plot about a treasure hunt. The last season to do that was season 24 which wasn't well received to the poor execution of the mystery plot. So now people are worried that season 27 will suffer the same fate with a poorly executed mystery plot overshadowing everything else and leaving no room for some much-needed character developement.

On my third day of watching all 1120+ of Xisuma's Hermitcraft videos and it's honestly made me feel less self-conscious about my struggles with Dyspraxia while also showing me the evolution of X, Minecraft and Hermitcraft.
Finding out Xisuma has struggled with Dyspraxia himself in the past (he mentions it in Episode 59) REALLY helps me feel a little less shitty about how my own Dyspraxia causes me to be hesitant about things like calls and recording...
Now part of me really wants to just boot up survival mode on Bedrock as I work my way through the remaining 1050 episodes...
(bonus fun fact: Xisuma has said Fuck on camera before. Episode 21 he accidentally used an outtake where he got frustrated and quietly F-Bombed. At the end of Episode 22 he apologises and explains he left it in accidentally due to rush editing.)

personally the issue with modern anime is less ‘uwu moe moe kyun isekai harem bullshit’ and more ‘heres a single cour cheaply made no ending adaptaion of a manga or light novel why don’t you go check those out’ big budget ads of which there are too many
i’d like to run the numbers to see if the percentage of original anime has gone down or if the original works are just being flooded out by the sea of overworked nothings that are being constantly rushed out the door
yes obviously not all original works are good (or finish well rip wep) and there are good adaptations but when people think anime once they're past shounen jump series 1-500 the biggest names are original works and sure you might end up with an fma or ouran but your bebops your evas your utenas are originals. or media mixes which are weird collabs we could get into but let’s not today
i won’t disagree that there’s too many anime nowadays targeting lolicons (yeah yeah any anime for them is too much but we’re talking about comparing eras not judging content here) but I /think/ 80s and 90s relegated that type of stuff to OVAs generally. Don’t have the data to back that up but between ovas nowadays being only just for porn and the lemony history of ovas since the 80s.... there were just More ovas back when as well
doing a loose count on mal of all ovas from 90-99 1050 to about 750 total for 14-23. given the tv ratio for 95-19 being around 1:6
yes yes these numbers are fast and loose and theres chinese animation in there and we can get finicky about What Is Anime but this was a conversation about what era of anime stylization is better

40 was a nice number of series a year about 10 a season starting and older ones continuing. 200+ is.
yes numbers are iffy with second seasons listed as different series like sailor moon r s supers stars and mha 2 3 4 5 6 ect so for accurate numbers a human touch would be needed
there is semi-finite air time to work with- obviously some companies could make new tv and satellite stations just to house their garbage but i think there is a cap somewhere in sight
if anyone did crunch the numbers more accurately, total episode count is necessary. one 80s robot show of 60-80 epis is equal to 4-6 modern single cour isekais
