Rewatching the series for S5, and thought of this question watching 1x01. Swap out the main conflict, do you think that Claudia and Viren would have ended up in a similar place regardless? I guess my question is how much of the character of Viren and his children is inherit in themselves set against what the circumstances bring out in them? So the age old nature versus nurture. The same question could apply to Rayla and her family along with Callum and his own. What is at their core?
I'm assuming this is like "what if the assassination had never happened" which, admittedly, is something I've thought a great deal about (or, more precisely "what if the assassination with Harrow had happened and the boys had never found the egg," I suppose).
The main thing about Viren and Harrow is that, I think, they'd been broken beyond repair masquerading as a friendship for a long, long time. A lot of that fault is with Viren - he's typically the instigator, it's his morality that arguably needs to change more so, it's his pride and self importance that leads to the Discard being mutual, and he'd rather let Harrow die and/or sacrifice himself than just tell Harrow the truth about the egg (and the fact he kept the secret and Sarai's last breath at all). I think eventually Harrow would've reached a breaking point with Viren's willingness to lay other people down (especially given how Sarai died and the "It should've been me"). Maybe only as Ezran grew up and matured, and Harrow realized maybe Viren wasn't the sort of counsel he wanted his son to have, but I do think they were always going to inevitably turn out that way so long as Harrow was royalty and Viren was a dark mage. It was their natures and their occupations escalating those natures, I think, that made them fall apart.
For Claudia, this is trickier. I've gone on record saying before that in arc 1, largely, there was the Transformative Trio (Callum, Rayla, Soren) and the Static Trio (Viren, Claudia, Ezran)—the latter being characters who do not so much Radically Change so much as stay the same while their circumstances highlight certain characteristics. Ezran out of the three changes the most (with Viren's characterization swerve happening mostly within the first 3 eps, and post-1x03 he's extremely consistent and never really wavers) within those lines, mostly in actively choosing to be more mature (going back home to be king) rather than doing it more subconsciously (keeping his cool with Callum and Rayla).
All of this to say is that Claudia is still basically the same person in S4 she was in 1x01, but Worse. She's desperate in ways she wasn't before, her confidence having been shaken by failures, and she's far more willing to do terrible things (apologizing to baby deer vs smiling and "That can be arranged" regarding Ibis' dead body). Her view of elves has worsened but it already wasn't great, her morality has worsened but it wasn't already great, and her family has fractured further but it already wasn't great, pushing her deeper into batshit territory of what she's willing to do to keep them together, and — say it with me — IT WASN'T ALREADY THAT GREAT.
What this hinges on, then, if Claudia has no reason to get worse (and also no reason to get better) is if how other characters would respond to her would change. As Ezran got older and grew in his ability to communicate, if he was comfortable be open/honest about it, I could see him disapproving of dark magic more, and that possibly driving a wedge between them, particularly once Ezran is king and she presumably becomes his High Mage. I could see Callum becoming a dark mage in a world with no attack, and more likely becoming one in a world with a partially successful attack, but I still don't think he'd readily take to it, and being more knowledgable about it would lead more room for his discomfort with it to be known and informed.
As for the Core of each character (and how that manifests in their roles), that was largely laid out in this post here pre-S4 (but I still think it holds generally true). Hope you enjoy!

I can't get over the fact that Aleks last words before the destruction of the fold was "extraordinary". That's just so interesting to me. I'm wondering what your thoughts are on it? It reminds me of the scene in ep4 where he faces her and she defends her friends against the nichivoye whilst simultaneously holding him back and for a split second he smiles. It could have been a mocking smile but I like to think he was genuinely impressed by her. I think it might be the same with the destruction of the fold. Again that scene in the spinning wheel might be nothing but still I'm very curious about your thoughts.
I 100% think that smile he gives in ep 4 is because he is impressed with her. It's one of the things I love about darklina, Aleks always reacted to Alina's growing powers with awe, as he said to her he always knew she was meant for more and I think watching her achieve this and grow in power makes him proud of her. Aleks has always reacted to her powers this way, it comes back to that line, 'I've seen what you truly are and I have never turned away, I never will.'
There are so many instances where Aleks has reacted to Alina's power with amazement and awe. Their first meeting in the tent in 1x01, the demonstration for the king in 1x03, the winter fete demonstration in 1x05, the scene in 2x02 when his hand begins to glow with her powers and he realises she is alive and that she has gained the seas whip, he says 'you've grown stronger, my Alina' and again looks very happy about that. In 2x04 when they meet in the hall through the tether bond he says that the sea whip has made her stronger and that the power suits her. Then there was the smile that you mentioned in the same episode. And of course when she brings down the fold. The other thing about the line about never turned away is if watch these scenes where she is showing these displays of power, others will look away and shield their eyes, because you know its bright as hell, meanwhile Aleks doesn't, he always stares straight at alina like he can't tear his eyes away from her, he quite literally never turns away. Its funny because most villains would not react this way to their opponent gaining more power, most would be worried but not Aleks he's just like that's my girl look at her go, even when its her destroying the fold and completely foiling all his plans.
I think for Aleks the more Alina grows in power the more convinced he is that they truly are equals, but in some ways I think he actually holds her higher than he does himself, he's sees her as the grisha's salvation, something that he has been reaching for over hundreds of years, the stronger she becomes the better chance she has of being able to safe the grisha and create that new world for them. Also a grisha's powers are tied to how long they live, Aleks is immortal because of how powerful he is, so I think the more powerful Alina grows the more he is reassured that she is just like him and that they really are destined for each other.

all time favorite ep of supernatural? I want to get into it so bad and you post about it a lot and tumblr introducing me to new gays and theys is how I watch anything these days
i’m sorry this took me so long to answer (and there are a bunch more in here al;sdjfasldf i didn’t forget anyone i just had my nails done in a way that made it really annoying to type so i was waiting for that to be over. no seriously)
okay well here’s the thing if you wanna get into spn i can recommend a handful of episodes to get you going that work best as standalones and are compelling but then you have to pull the trigger piglet and just start at 1x01 and let it all wash over you like the tsunami it is
that being said: *my* personal favorites are 11x04 baby, 6x20 the man who would be king, and 3x03 bad day at black rock. also pretty much all of season 2. seasons 2 and 11 are my favorites.
do NOT watch any of those as your intro to the show except maybe bad day at black rock. that one works as a standalone pretty well.

SO YOU WANT TO KNOW JENNIFER JAREAU?  PT. 1
Tumblr media
[I’m sorry I took forever to answer this because I kept saying I was going to come back and finish it so for now you get part one.]
The reality is, Criminal Minds is 15 seasons of television. And in this show that means roughly 15 years of these character’s lives. A LOT happens. But at the same time, this is a pretty old show and it’s a CBS procedural. It’s designed to be digestible even if you don’t follow the main plots. Unlike some other procedurals, it tends to have more of a serialized (week to week) plot going through in terms of the characters’ individual developments and the occasional bigger arc. But that said, when I say an episode is a “good JJ episode” that may mean it’s an episode where she has a good scene or two. It may mean it’s an episode where she has a defining character moment. It does not necessarily mean she will be the entire focus of the episode. The character development in a show like CM is slow and really, really built over time. And the moments you’ll see me piece together on my blog and talk about as important moments for JJ, may often feel like blips on the radar of an episode. Do not expect a 2019, golden age of TV, stop your heart kind of plot and drama. It’s just not that kind of show. It’ll do that now and then, but not all the time.
So without further ado, I plan to break this episode list up into three subsections: *** means the episode is a must watch to know JJ’s plot and development. This will be saved for Major JJ episodes. ** is for episodes that are JJ focused or have good JJ content but may be simply a good emotional episode, and are not required in order to follow plot moments. Lastly, * means that the episode is just one that I love. It may be another character’s big arc. It may be a mystery I just think is great, or an episode that is considered classic CM. So start at the top. If you don’t have a lot of time at all, stick with the three stars. If you want a full JJ adventure, do three and two. If you want a little bonus stuff because you’re having fun and you like the other characters too, do the three stars, two stars, and ones.
SEASON 1
*1x01: Extreme Aggressor - JJ isn’t even in this episode. But it’s the pilot. It gives you the backstory and establishes the team.  ***1x02: Compulsion - While not extremely plot relevant as most of my other three start episodes, this is in fact JJ’s first episode. So especially if you’re not going to watch 1x01, give this one a go.  [JJ is not an incredibly important character in season 1. So she’s not in much of it. But with that said, I’d suggest bopping around and watching a few random episodes just to get a feel for the team/vibe/etc] **1x14: Riding the Lightning - JJ is so awesome in this episode. It’s also considered a CM classic so def watch it. It’s not on my must watch list because rules say it’s not plot relevant to JJ’s story specifically but I’d still call it a must watch.  *1x21: Secrets and Lies - not plot relevant but it does have some delightful JJ and Garcia friendship scenes and we love them here.  *1x22: Fisher King Pt 1 - Finale. Not relevant to JJ beyond the fact that it’s the season finale. I will likely put most finales and season premieres on this list because they tend to include the big, team wide, more personal cases.
SEASON 2
*2x01: Fisher King Pt 2 - like I said, all finales and premieres. This one is a two parter.  **2x06: Boogeyman - a CM Classic. Elle Fanning guest stars. JJ has some great moments with kids because that’s her thing. Not plot relevant.  ***2x07: North Mammon - Not SUPER plot relevant but this is the first time JJ really gets an episode of her own, that’s her arc and feels like her case. It’s a good look into her character and provides some insight into who she is. Also it’s a wild case straight out of a CW show.  *2x09: The Last Word - not important for JJ but it is Emily Prentiss’s intro episode and we just love Emily in this house and she’s a very important character in JJ’s life.  *2x12: Profiler, Profiled - again like most early season episode, not JJ centric. This is a Morgan centric episode and is really a CM classic. Goes into Morgan’s backstory and is heartbreaking and well done. If you’ve gotten this far and find yourself into him, watch this.  ***2x14-2x15: The Big Game/Revelations - This is a two parter with a case that goes in CM fandom history books. It also features some important plot stuff for JJ and some real heartbreaking trauma for the team.  ***2x18: Joneses - JJ has some romance related stuff in this episode that is p important for her arc and life in general.  **2x21: Open Season - Not super plot heavy but a good JJ episode with good scenes a decent case. Does a lot to show what JJ does in her part of the job. AND features Criminal Minds iconic girls at the bar scene.
SEASON 3
**3x01: Doubt - I left out the season 2 finale so take it or leave it but the Season 3 premiere is good fun. Has some good JJ emotions in it.  *3x02: Name in Blood - Not JJ relevant but a good Emily episode and a case that weirdly becomes relevant in a JJ/Emily episode WAY THE FRICK in season 14 or something.  **3x04: Children of the Dark - No big plot things just a great JJ and Emily episode of them being great together acting like moms.  **3x05: Seven Seconds - No big plot things again but a good perspective of the extent of what JJ’s side of the work deals with.  *3x09: Penelope - HUGE episode, very important. For the team, For JJ, for Garcia. Watch it. [Also maybe watch the last 5 minutes of the episode before it] **3x15: Higher Power - Not that big plot wise but always assume if a plot description/case has suicide in it that it’ll have good JJ content. ***3x18: In Heat - JJ and Will stuff. You need it to know who JJ is.  *3x20: Lo-Fi - it’s a finale so it goes on the list.
SEASON 4
*4x01: Mayhem - again it’s a premiere so it goes on the list *4x03: Minimal Loss - not JJ related but a good CM classic, guest starring Luke Perry and a great Prentiss episode - JJ goes on Maternity leave / AJ goes on Maternity leave mid season 4 so there’s a big gap in JJ content But she has her baby i 4x11 if you want to see it. She returns in 4x14 *4x17: Demonology - no JJ but a huge backstory ep for Emily. Really pretty, really good. I highly recommend.  **4x23: Amplification: Not hugely plot important but a good JJ episode. Deals with her getting used to being both a mother and an agent.  *4x24-4x25: To Hell / And Back - Very disturbing season finale. Not JJ focused but a CM classic.

one if my absolute favorite fandom things is when a show references another show that a guest actor was on.
think the children of the gods (stargate sg-1 1x01) when carter says they macgyver’d a supercomputer to make the gate system. it’s an in-joke only for fans of richard dean anderson, whose previous role was the eponymous macgyver.
so seeing wil wheaton get a star trek shoutout on leverage has thrown me into a nerd frenzy.
he’s playing colin mason. aka chaos. aka the kobayashi maru. a hacker and hardison’s mirror.
and yeah, wheaton’s pretty well known for his stint as wesley crusher (in this household we stan our ensign king). so it’s not quite an easter egg.
but it also is. that is, if you are trekkie. because then you know it’s a hint that colin mason is the exact opposite of wesley crusher.
see most people, not in fandom (like the cia who give colin the alias) know that the kobayashi maru is a star trek reference. maybe they even know it’s a tos reference and not tng. but that’s fine! it’s an easter egg. they laugh and move on.
but a trekkie connects the dots. knows the original kobayashi maru was in st II the wrath of khan. where a young james t kirk hacked the character-defining no-win training scenario. training meant to teach loss. to prepare future starfleet officers for the burdens of command.
a trekkie knows that wesley had his own kobayashi maru. in the first duty (st tng 5x19) when he’s pressured into a cover-up of a flight training accident that claimed the life of another ensign. an accident where he and his friends are at fault.
but unless you’ve actually seen tos and tng and the movies. if you’re not a trekkie and not in the fandom then you’re not going to understand that the kobayashi maru isn’t about cheating to win. it’s about never giving up—no matter the odds.
kirk’s point in cheating on the kobayashi maru was not to win for winnings sake. he’s making a point. he’s making it into the definition of a character-defining moment. a first duty. he’s saying that he will never accept a no-win situation when it comes to the lives of his crew. he’ll protect them anyway he can. he turns the kobayashi maru into a synonym for truth and hope and persistence.
wesley though, has already lied. he’s particpated in the cover-up. and it’s not a test. it’s real life with real stakes. and one of wesley’s friends is already dead. there’s no winning. no outcome that could possibly make the situation better.
that’s why it’s his is his kobayashi maru. his character-defining moment. his first duty. he has to choose to tell the truth, hope he can be forgiven, and persist on his moral course. because it’s the right thing to do.
wesley is kirk’s mirror, but not a dark one. but only a trekkie is going to understand how similar kirk and wesley’s choices are. the nuance of how they do and not mirror each other.
and all of our leverage characters (except sophie because she’s “dead”) have a mirror on the other con team. a counterpart. nate has starke. parker has apollo. eliot has mikel. and, of course, hardison has colin.
but because of a reference to tng that itself references wrath of khan we get a preview of the outcome. we get a nod that colin is the bad guy. he’s kirk—if kirk had cheated only to win. he’s wesley—if wesley had lied to save his reputation. he’s the kobayashi maru—when you don’t understand the kobayashi maru.
he’s the dark mirror.
and that, my fellow nerds. my fellow trekkies. that is the secret language of fandom.
and yeah, this ep aired in 2009. a good dozen years ago. but I’d like to think that wil wheaton got the reference. that he understood the implications of that easter egg line. because he’s always spoken fluent fandom and he’s a trekkie, just like us.

do you have any episodes i need to rewatch before starting s15? like lazarus rising
(i am definitely not avoiding starting it cause i can't admit to myself that when I'm done with the show that's it. like no new seasons, noone's gonna come back from the dead. definitely not me)
ummm well i don't think there's any episodes that you 'need' to watch per se (cause the s15 literally begins where s14 ends, and there's no running B-plot at the start?) but hey, i completely get what you mean about not wanting to be finished so soon
so here's a list of episodes ft. non-tfw early-s15 characters that i'd suggest rewatching :)
jump the shark 4x19
the real ghostbusters 5x09
season seven, time for a wedding! 7x08
party on, garth 7x18
reading is fundamental 7x21
what's up, tiger mommy? 8x02
hunteri heroici 8x08
into the mystic 11x11
the british invasion 12x17
war of the worlds 13x07
funeralia 13x19
prophet and loss 14x12
peace of mind 14x15
okay and now for some classic eps so you can start the last season feeling all tingly about spn <3
pilot 1x01
lazarus rising 4x01
changing channels 5x08
dark side of the moon 5x16
the man who would be king 6x20
larp and the real girl 8x11
baby 11x04
don't call me shurley 11x20 (FOR THE IRONY)
scoobynatural 13x16
ok i'm gonna stop now but remember you don't need to rewatch all (or any) of these to watch s15 :)
hope you have a good time <3

If i desperately need to watch a show with a gay jewish detective but cant commit to 200+ eps do you have a list of recs for episodes of murdoch mysteries im weak for gays in period dramas
Just know getting into it that they don’t really focus on either of these things in the show (currently only one episode where he discovers he’s jewish and a brief mention in another ep +  he’s confirmed gay three seasons after he’s introduced) BUT even minus being a gay and jewish icon Watts is still the best character and he’s been acting gay since he was introduced lol
It’s week by week mysteries though so honestly you can tune in whenever and you won’t be lost. Watts is introduced in season 10 and I’ve included and italicized all the episodes he’s in below. The show is great not just for Watts though so if you want to get more into it without watching all the episodes here are some from each season that hit more major plot points or are just super good in our opinion:
Season 1
1x01 Power
1x05 Till Death Do us Part (also gay)
1x08 Still Waters
1x13 The Annoying Red Planet
Season 2
2x05 The Green Muse

3x12 In the Altogether
3x13 The Tesla Effect
Season 4
4x03 Buffalo Shuffle
4x06 Dead End Street

7x04 The Return of Sherlock
7x08 Republic of Murdoch
7x09 Midnight Train to Kingston (only if you like Gillies)
7x16 Kung Fu Crabtree
7x18 The Death of Dr. Ogden
Season 8
8x04 Holy Matrimony Murdoch
8x07 What Lies Buried
8x12 The Devil Wears Whalebone (Emily Grace x Lillian Moss, a canon wlw couple starts here -Lillian is in 8x08 and 8x10 but she doesn’t play a huge role. I’m not including all their eps cause their interactions are brief and skippable in most)
8x14 Toronto’s Girl Problem
Season 9
9x03 Double Life
9x05 24 Hours to Doomsday (again only if you like Pendrick)
9x07 Summer of ‘75

just want to say thank you so much for appreciating season 4 so much tdp <3 i dont really understand why it is so disliked;  not without his problems, but still sweet, sad and thoughtful
Yeah it's like... 4x01-4x02 is the only time the show is presumably going to have any time for anything remotely resembling filler, which the previous three seasons also had some brief shares of (1x05, 2x04, honestly 3x01 for how much its two plotlines are drawn out the whole ep, and Rayllum's plot line in 3x02). So just like those filler eps, early S4 spends time getting us re-acquainted with the bulk of the main cast (everyone but Rayla really) and the ways they and the world are either different now, or have stayed the same, i.e.
Corvus and Callum have more than two lines of dialogue with each other, Soren is fully integrated as a crown guard, Ezran is being king in a very Ezran-y way (both good and bad), Callum is the same but also fronting and much more serious, and Claudia's stability is hanging on by a thread. Then 4x02 kicks off the plot for Claudia's side of things, and technically also for Callum (and Rayla) with Rayla's arrival, but 4x03 has to accordingly deal with some of that fallout. Claudia's actions directly kick off the plot, and then it's travel and stopping Aaravos time from 4x04 onwards (which again, is structured very similarly to 1x01-1x03 and 2x01-2x03 being the Castle / Moon Nexus arcs respectively). 4x04 gets the audience caught up with the fanatics (S4 is the first season to actually explain what type of elf Aaravos is - a Startouch elf - that he's ancient, etc etc), and Claudia and co. are also given what they need (Sir Sparklepuff) to be set into motion.
As you can see, I don't think the plot of the season bothered people (something if not multiple things are established every episode) but I do think people found some of the character interactions lacking. Which - I'd rather have people be awkward and unfair and not entirely honest with others than themselves and acting like people than anything else. Claudia can be awkward with over sharing (per usual) and Callum can be shut down (it's an interesting character turn and not an entirely unexpected one).
Like I genuinely feel bad for people who were disappointed or didn't like S4! It sucks when a show you love has a bad season you didn't enjoy, and it's not as though that's never happened to me. I just think I've typically either 1) borne it better, 2) got over it and looked at what the show was trying to do to, or 3) saw it coming ahead of time and left, lmao.
Like S4 of Infinity Train is really good but not nearly (to me) on the same level of S3, yet I know people how prefer it, and yeah - it does come down to preferences. JWCC S4 feels like it lost sight of what the show was (a simple fun premise executed very well) by adding in too many elements; I didn't make it past ep3, and the previous season had wrapped up 90% of what I was emotionally invested in anyway and works pretty well as a total finale. TDP wasn't this, as there were still a lot of loose ends following S3, and I think S4 carried them on just fine as well as setting up so many interesting things ahead (much the same way S1 did, and kind of to be expected when Arc 1 was so wrapped up). Getting to see the characters (somewhat) enjoy peace while not knowing the events were in motion to see it all come crashing down was a great sense of dramatic irony, iMO.
Anyway, I loved S4 plenty when I watched it for the first time, and I love it even more now! It's my 3rd fave season, which considering how much I adore and have nostalgia for S1, is saying something. If this is the show's 'lowpoint' I can't think of how even more incredible it's going to be

Leaks, Fleaks, and the Fucking Ending of Game of Thrones
I will be discussing Friki leaks in this post and other potential “leaks” as seen on Free Folk Reddit so if you don’t want spoilers, don’t read! I will also be discussing THAT ONE theory/leak I freaked out about several weeks ago and refused to talk about except to a few people who private messaged me about it.
I will be theorizing heavily in this post in an attempt to put all the “leaks” together so take this all with a grain of salt. I am not a primary source or even a secondary source for this information, so what I say here could very well be 100% wrong.
“Leakers” I am pulling from in this post:
Frikidoctor
BoatSexBaby
ThrowItAway / DeathWisher
TyrionKillsEveryone
Please keep in mind, I am not a member of the Reddit community (well, have an account, almost never use it), so I am unfamiliar with certain users on the site, what has been discussed at length between all users, what’s been refuted if it’s not on the front page of Free Folk, and what comments any of these users have made if they’re more than a few weeks old. Please also note I am not a native Spanish speaker so I have to read Friki’s stuff from translations so if the translations are incorrect, I will be. If anyone has any additional input, please feel free to reblog to correct any misinformation I may include in this.
First off, Friki.
As we’ve seen from Friki’s Season 7 leaks and his incredibly detailed leaks about 8x01, Friki is legit. There really is no arguing with this so I believe it is pointless to do so. However, we must keep in mind Friki is not someone who is on set, his sources are not on set all the time (I believe), and for this season, he has not seen an final scripts. So we likewise must take what Friki says with a grain of salt. Friki was also off by two weeks when it came to when the New York premiere would be, so it’s possible he could be wrong about things or his source doesn’t give him full information or gives him incorrect information.
BoatSexBaby
Again, sorry, I am not familiar with the reputations of people on Reddit FreeFolk so I don’t know if this person is seen as a legitimate leaker or fleaker. However, regardless of whether they have correct information, BSB seems to be a total savant when it comes to putting filming information together! It’s kind of astounding. I had attempted to do this once, but it was completely overwhelming but BSB has done it. It seems BSB’s info so far as what happens in the season is more based on assumptions based on filming info than actual leaks. But the information is still incredibly helpful.
ThrowItAway/DeathWisher
I don’t believe this is the same person but DeathWisher recently linked back to ThrowItAway’s old POST from a few months ago so I’m crediting both of them here. ThrowItAway claims to be related to someone who worked on the Belfast set and had second hand information of what would happen during the Battle for Winterfell in 8x03. Info that was correct: 1) Arya would jump down from somewhere (a tree?) to kill the NK 2) Theon would charge NK and die 3) Lyanna Mormont would become a wight. That has all been proven true and these leaks were from 4 months ago. So the information TIA’s brother gave them about future episodes may be true as well. Though, TIA admits that their brother did not work on sets aside from the Belfast one and so heard the leaks about the other episodes from other crew members - meaning the brother is a secondary source for this info, not a primary one. Also, TIA seems pretty adamant that it’s highly possible multiple endings were filmed.
TyrionKillsEveryone
Now, anyone who knows of TKE from FreeFolk and Friki is probably wondering why the fuck I’m bringing him up right now because apparently everything he said would happen in the first couple episodes has turned out to be complete bullshit (though for some reason, I can’t find those posts/comments, so have to rely on people talking about “leaks” TKE claimed for Eps 1&2). However, out of all the theories I’ve read on the ending to GOT and now with this info from ThrowItAway, I more inclined than ever to believe such an ending so that’s why I’ve included them in this post.
So, what do the “leakers” have to offer us?
Friki:
Friki claims that THE big moment in this final season will be Tyrion’s trial in the Dragonpit and Tyrion’s death. He refutes a previous theory of his that Tyrion and Sansa would betray the Starks and says Sansa will not betray them, Tyrion will (unclear if Dany is included in this - as either Team Stark or on Tyrion’s side...but as Dany is on the side of the Starks now, it appears Tyrion would betray her too...?). Friki says an important scene will take place with five key characters: Jon, Sansa, Arya, Daenerys, and Tyrion. Friki was told this big scene took five days to film (hinting at it being all conflict). The most shocking moment of the season/series should be Tyrion’s death. Friki admits he doesn’t know how Tyrion will die, or why he will betray Team Jon/Dany but just knows that he will. He notes Emilia Clarke never filmed anything in Seville, she was never there. He says Kit Harington was in Seville but did not film a single scene there.
I know people might take this as “fake news” and believe Kit actually did film in Seville but lots of GOT actors were in Seville who I can’t really believe were filming there - most notably, Tom Wlaschiha who played Jaqen H'ghar, Faye Marsay who played the Waif, and Vladimír Furdík who played the Night King.
So, unless Arya never killed the Waif or the Night King in a permanent way, it’s clear HBO just flew in lots of GOT actors to throw people off...OR may have flown them in, along with their body doubles, for the GOT Documentary which will air right after the series finale. More on this in a moment.
BoatSexBaby:
Alright, first off, I’ll start with what BSB may have gotten wrong...unless the NK isn’t completely dead and he somehow has to be defeated again. BSB claimed HERE that 1) Dance of Dragons between NK/Viserion and Dany/Drogon would happen in Episode 6 in King’s Landing and Jon/Rhaegal may be involved - untrue, kind of, this happened in Ep3 2) Golden Company attack Winterfell - TOTALLY FALSE. And preview for next weeks seems to see everyone headed down south to attack Cersei instead (though BSB did say survivors retreat south so maybe this is the true part of people going south) 3) NK has real motivations that tie all WW scenes together from 1x01 - maybe. We certainly didn’t see this prior but it could be revealed in future. The way the NK was defeated just felt way too clean to me. If he’s really gone and was a red herring, that’s one elaborate 8000 year old red herring. FFS.
What BSB does actually have to offer, is her dedication to documenting filming news. According to BSB, we know: 1) the green dragon mount was moved prior to filming King’s Landing battle scenes hinting at it being used in those scenes - however, the only actor available for filming such scenes was allegedly Vladimír Furdík, as Kit and Emilia were not in Belfast at the time. 2) Body doubles in Seville who may have been filming or may have been part of the GOT documentary were doubles for: Sansa, Tyrion, Jon, Brienne, Grey Worm, and Robin Arryn. BSB is also of the belief that Kit actually did film in Seville but filmed night scenes? And that there were CGI/VFX sequences for the Dragonpit scene or Tyrion’s trial. Friki said the Dragonpit scene included no CGI so it’s unclear which is correct.
ThrowItAway/DeathWisher
As stated, ThrowItAway gave leaks for 8x03 several months ago that ended up panning out so, it could be possible their other statements about future episodes could be true too. TIA posted some things and also messaged DW some spoilers for the ending. Some key points, but certainly not ALL: 1) Varys betrays Dany because he believes Jon would make a better ruler (something TKE also speculated) and Dany has him executed 2) Dany attacks King’s Landing 3) Tyrion convinces Jon that Dany is a danger to him and the Starks and Jon kills Dany 4) Prior to her death, Sansa and Tyrion appear to plot against Dany/try to separate her and Jon 5) Sansa has made some sort of promise to Tyrion that she and him will rule together but she betrays him in the end 6) Jon has two possible endings: Death or reforming the Night’s Watch (unclear how he would die).
This is a lot to unpack here and it should be noted that TIA has stated these “leaks” are to be taken with a grain of salt because a) their brother did not work on these episodes and heard this from other crew members who did work on them and b) they seem highly convinced that multiple endings were filmed and Emilia Clarke has talked about filming fake scenes.
TyrionKillsEveryone
I haven’t been able to see TKEs old posts on the early episodes and have only read their “leaks” from other commenters who have gleefully bragged about how incorrect TKE was. I think one of the major TKE fleaks was that Dany would find out she was pregnant in 8x01 and that Varys would try to kill her with poison (because he believes she’s becoming like Aerys and Jon would be a better King) but Arya would save her. This clearly did not happen in 8x01 so it’s easy to write off TKE for just this alone.
However, TKEs points about the later episodes just STRUCK me and affected me deeply which is why I’m going to include them. TKE says that yes, Tyrion will have a trial, as Friki said, and Tyrion will be on trial for betraying Jon and Daenerys and killing Jon - how does Tyrion kill Jon? He stabs him in the back in the black cells of the Red Keep after taking him down to see Dany - who is Cersei’s captive - where she is bleeding to death either from being stabbed by Bronn or complications with childbirth. I think both were mentioned, Unclear which TKE was leaning more toward.
At Tyrion’s trial, TKE says Tyrion will have an epic speech like he did in his trial for killing Joffrey, and will name everyone present as guilty as him. That their petty wars and fights all caused harm to the smallfolk, damaged the country, something like this. And at the end of Tyrion’s speech, Bronn will ignite the wildfire under the Dragonpit like he did on the Blackwater, and blow everyone up - killing every single major character - Arya, Sansa, Davos, Tyrion...anyone else who is present in the Dragonpit. They’ll all die.
TKE claims the last shots of the series are the smallfolk rebuilding Westeros, living their lives in peace, because they have no lords preying on them, telling them to fight their wars, etc. And that is the “Dream of Spring.”
What does it all mean?
It’s pretty difficult to tell at this point because the Night King is defeated (or so we think) and the living are somewhat intact - at least many of our major characters - Jaime, Brienne, Grey Worm, Jon, Sansa, Dany, Arya, Tyrion, Varys, Pod, Tormund, Sam, Gilly, the Hound...they all got out of the Battle with barely scratches on them. It’s incredibly disconcerting. As if luring us into this false sense of security.
But this false sense of security is exactly the kind of thing GOT would do before really bringing down the sledgehammer to our hearts. So, what does it all mean?
1) Three of the leakers save TIA have specifically talked about Tyrion’s trial. To me, this seems highly likely to happen.
2) BSB has some amazing evidence for why there will be CGI/VFX during Tyrion’s trial but I think her assumption about what this could mean is wrong - it won’t be a dragon fight (though there will be dragons in King’s Landing at some point). The VFX for Tyrion’s trial could be for the wildfire explosion that TKE talks about.
3) If TIA is correct about Sansa leading Tyrion on only to betray him in the end and take power for herself, then it makes Sansa a villain too. And this was the last piece of info I was really waiting for because...
It is KEY to believing TKE’s ending.
Because with everyone plotting against everyone and fighting for power, it means they learned nothing from having to band together to defeat the Night King and are all still fighting their petty wars and as Tyrion will (maybe) say in his trial, they’re all guilty.
TKE said something about Sansa inviting all the Lords/Ladies of the realm come to Tyrion’s trial so they can simultaneously swear her their allegiance. This would support why Robin Arryn is at Tyrion’s trial. Because without this, it seems odd that he would be there at all. We haven’t seen him since Season 6, though his armies have been present in S7 and S8.
While I am not sure which to believe out of TIA and TKE’s endings for Jon and Dany - Jon-kills-Dany or Jon-and-Dany-die-together - I am pretty convinced of this theory that Tyrion, does in fact, kill everyone with wildfire in the Dragonpit. You guys might think I’m crazy, might hate me for pointing this out, but I just feel this ending in my bones and have for several weeks. I was kind of hoping for a Jon-Dany-house-with-a-red-door ending - they get resurrected or don’t die and live in hiding or amongst the small-folk and get a somewhat happy ending. But I am not holding my breath.
And for those who want a little bit more further proof of a TKE-like ending, for those saying things like “What’s the point?” “Who would rule?” “So it’s just anarchy?” “Is this some weird eat the rich bullshit?” - I have one more piece of evidence for you.
D&D said the ending to GOT was hidden in their Spotify playlist. And one of the songs on the playlist was Black Sabbath’s War Pigs. The lyrics of which are:
Gen'rals gathered in their masses, Just like witches at black masses Evil minds that plot destruction, Sorcerer of death's construction In the fields the bodies burning, As the war machine keeps turning Death and hatred to mankind, Poisoning their brainwashed minds Oh Lord yeah
Politicians hide themselves away They only started the war Why should they go out to fight? They leave that role for the poor, yeah
Time will tell on their power minds, Making war just for fun Treating people just like pawns in chess, Wait 'till their judgement day comes, yeah
Now in darkness world stops turning, Ashes where the bodies burning No more War Pigs have the power, Hand of God has struck the hour Day of judgement, God is calling On their knees the war pigs crawling, Begging mercies for their sins Satan, laughing, spreads his wings Oh Lord yeah
This is why, weeks ago, I posted this Jorah quote:
youtube
In the books, it’s a bit better: “The common people pray for rain, healthy children, and a summer that never ends," Ser Jorah told her. "It is no matter to them if the high lords play their game of thrones, so long as they are left in peace....They never are."
And it’s why around the same time, I also posted this:
youtube
“Animals are true to their nature. And we had betrayed ours.” All the living, despite fighting together against the dead, have still betrayed their nature, fighting against each other, fighting for power. When they should be working together and feel lucky they’re all alive.
In the books, Brienne V in AFFC, there is a great speech commonly called by the fandom, “The Broken Man Speech” - which, coincidentally, the episode above is called. Not for no reason, I believe.
Some significant quotes from the book version of the Broken Man speech:
“Broken men are more deserving of our pity, though they may be just as dangerous. Almost all are common-born, simple folk who had never been more than a mile from the house where they were born until the day some lord came round to take them off to war. Poorly shod and poorly clad, they march away beneath his banners, ofttimes with no better arms than a sickle or a sharpened hoe.”
“They see the lord who led them there cut down, and some other lord shouts that they are his now."
“...before long they are stealing from the living too, from the smallfolk whose lands they’re fighting in, men very like the men they used to be.”
“They don’t know where they are or how to get back home and the lord they’re fighting for does not know their names, yet here he comes, shouting for them to form up, to make a line with their spears and scythes and sharpened hoes, to stand their ground. And the knights come down on them, faceless men clad all in steel, and the iron thunder of their charge seems to fill the world …  “And the man breaks. “He turns and runs, or crawls off afterward over the corpses of the slain, or steals away in the black of night, and he finds someplace to hide. All thought of home is gone by then, and kings and lords and gods mean less to him than a haunch of spoiled meat that will let him live another day, or a skin of bad wine that might drown his fear for a few hours. The broken man lives from day to day, from meal to meal, more beast than man. Lady Brienne is not wrong. In times like these, the traveler must beware of broken men, and fear them … but he should pity them as well.”
And for those saying this can’t possibly be GRRM’s message....well, it just might be:
youtube
Now, how well have D&D executed such an ending if this is, indeed, the ending?
I would say, pretty shittily. It’s not an A or an A+. Because unlike Breaking Bad, we’re still rooting for these characters with only 3 episodes to go. In Breaking Bad, you get that Walter is a villain, he’s “The one who knocks.” He’s the bad guy and he deserves what’s coming to him. Jesse was a prisoner in the end so we’re glad he gets out and gets free.
But with GOT, if everyone ends up being a villain and dying for their sins, it’s shitty. I have faith GRRM would do much better with such an ending. Give us other characters, the smallfolk, to care about to ease the pain of losing our other faves, the mains. But with only 240 minutes to go, there’s no way D&D could make us hate the current characters in a way that makes us also not hate the writers too and the entire series. It’s like...well fuck, why did I ever care in the first place?
Especially as a Dany fan because her whole story has been about what GRRM talks about in the video above. Yes, she has to have this war to take power against Cersei, but she’s the ONLY character who wants to change, make real change that will make a difference to the common man. She wants to “break the wheel that has rolled over rich and poor to the benefit of no one but the Cersei Lannister’s of the world.” She wants to do that!
So if this is the GOT ending, I’m pissed. Because it’s as if Dany’s purpose is just...forgotten. Or not worthy because she wants to take power and get revenge for her family at the same time. Perhaps it’s because of this, I still am holding out one last sliver of hope that Dany and Jon survive, because out of everyone, their motives most closely align to this ideal.
But again, not holding my breath.
And if you guys don’t hate me after reading this, let me know what you think!

okay but...are we not gonna talk about the fact that - at least, judging by the leaks i’ve seen so far - the whole night king/white walker plot just. rly ended halfway through this season?
not to be all #Screenwriter on main, but when you start a project, not only do you have to work out main story beats before getting into the details, but the opening (and closing) image of your story is a Big Deal. sure, you could argue this is different for shows, esp if they’re not sure of the ending yet - tho for something serial and adapted from an established source material, i’d argue you should have a good idea of where you’ll end up at least when starting out - but it’s still a big deal.
the opening image/scene sets a precedent for your story. we get our first taste of the tone, maybe the theme(s), and, if done well, an idea of what the final culmination (in traditional movie script terms, the climax at the end of act 2; in regular terms, The Big Final Battle before the end of the story in which characters will experience a defeat, then a victory [should the ending be victory]) will entail/address.
for those who don’t remember, the opening scene of GOT in 1x01 was of some men in the night’s watch getting killed by a white walker. this was an interesting choice in an opening image, as no prominent characters were featured - no dany, no starks, no lannisters - but some nameless men who were then killed by a mysterious monster we wouldn’t fully understand for a while. then the show does a 180 from this scene and launches into the political drama, and for the next few seasons, focuses heavily on the interpersonal politics of the various houses, powers, and individuals, with the threat of the white walkers and night king slowly becoming more tangible and transitioning into the foreground from the background. that then leads us to jon’s campaign in s7 to get everyone to focus up on the issue, so we can battle the NK and the army of the dead in s8.
this is why i have issues with the NK plot ending halfway through s8, to instead focus back on the politics. yes, the iron throne is a big part of the show obviously...but through the use of the white walker opening image, the show’s culmination should’ve come through the NK plot rather than the human politics, imo. if that’s the aspect of your plot that you’ve chosen to set the tone for your story and be ppl’s first impression of the show - shouldn’t that carry through to the end?
even fan theories i saw before s8 released considered this (or, well, the one video fan theory i watched did anyway - predicting the NK would win and sit on the iron throne). if they wanted the show’s final culmination to be mad queen dany, i think the opening image of the very first ep should’ve dealt with that in some way, bc the white walker opening image was one of the things that managed to stick with me through my quick binge of the show 2 years ago, while so many of the other story beats blurred together in my head.

I power-watched GoT Season 1
Why? Because before tomorrow, I wanted to remember what I loved about the show. Instead of liveblogging my flailing, I did it in my phone’s notes, but I thought I’d dump the whole season here (season 2 is also finished as of today). I to keep myself to three bullet points per episode, but failed most of the time.
1x01
1. They are all SO YOUNG! Kit is a bb! Maisie! Sophie! RICHARD!
2. I still love to story of Jaime jumping off the cliffs at the Rock and his impression of Tywin. (And you wonder why I fell in love with them..)
3. The years have not lessened my dislike of Robert Baratheon.
1x02
1. Lannister family breakfasts give me joy. (GIVE ME A GOOD CLEAN DEATH ANY DAY OMG JAIME)
2. Michelle Fairley was a gift.
3. (Bonus - Theon being in the trusted council Cat tells about suspecting the Lannister’s in Bran’s attempted murder = ❤️❤️❤️)
4. JUSTICE FOR LADY 2K19! I am still so angry at everyone involved that I can feel my heart rate start increasing the second the scene by the river starts, and by the time we get to the scene in front of Robert, I have to make sure there’s nothing in my hand to throw. True story: the first time I watched this, I came closer than I ever have in my whole life to throwing an actual glass at a tv. After all this time, only a lifetime of self control and respect for the people who bought us our new tv keeps me from doing it now.
1x03
1. Love the Lannister vs Stark parenting parallels: Cersei doesn’t give terrible advice to her son... Machiavellian, but canny. Ned is a good dad too... trying to explain to Arya why Sansa acted the way she did...
2. Remember when the white walkers were scary and Old Nan was the best storyteller? Remember when there were so many great minor characters like her? Like Old Maester Aemon and Syrio Forel given so much good stuff to do with not a lot of screen time?
3. I may hate Robert, but my great respect for Mark Addy as an actor has only grown. That scene in Robert’s study with Robert and Barristan Selmy And Jaime is SO GOOD. Also Jaime talking about Aerys with that look on his face like he’s reliving it is always SO HAUNTING.
4. Bonus: remember when Dany had her OG clique? Irri and Jiqui and Doreah and Rhakaro and Jorah? I do. :(
1x04
1. Tyrion’s second visit to Winterfell is great. The smile on Bran’s face when he gets the plans for the saddle is SO PURE. Theon recommending Ros to Tyrion is less pure but still hilarious before we get to the serious business of explaining why Theon is in Winterfell.
2. Awwww Pyp And Grenn and Sam are such babies! Yay brotherhood.
3. Ned’s straightforwardness is so obviously going to get him killed it’s painful.
1x05
1. Sandor Clegane is more interesting to me this time around. Also Rory McCann is brilliant.
2. Maester Luwin And Bran talking with Theon practicing archery in the background makes my heart ache. “Famed for their skill at archery, navigation, and lovemaking.” Lol
3. That skull Arya hides in has to be Balerion. It looks even bigger than Drogon! And that’s Varys talking to... Illyrio? I don’t remember a lot I’m realizing.
4. I can’t resist cackling at Littlefinger and Varys sniping at each other and Aiden and Conleth PLAYING IT UP and clearly loving every second of it.
5. Bonus bonus: that scene between Cersei and Robert where they’re discussing strategy and potential scenarios for a Dothraki invasion is fascinating on so many levels. They hate and know each other so well and Lena and Mark play off each other brilliantly. And CERSEI IS SO VULNERABLE HERE. I think this might be one of the moments I fell in love with her, weird as that sounds.
6. Triple bonus: 😂 at Jaime knocking out his own man who stabbed Ned and robbed Jaime of his fair fight with The Warden of the North.
1x06
1. This episode gets a 10/10 for amount of time Theon and Robb spend in scenes together.
2. Having watched a lot of Ripper Street seeing Bronn for the first time is a whole lot of fun.
3. FIRE CANNOT KILL A DRAGON YES KHALEESI
1x07: remember when Dan and David used to let experienced writers co-write their eps? That was fun.
1. Tywin Lannister DRESSING HIS OWN STAG like a boss. I live for this intro scene and Charles Dance’s Tywin.
2. YOU WIN OR YOU DIE. And Cersei lived and died by those words. At least she’s consistent? Anyway, SO ICONIC.
3. Sam and Jon taking their vows at the weirwood North of the Wall with the snow swirling around them still sends a chill up my spine.
4. Bonus: all the Dothraki language in this episode is cool and Jason SELLS IT.
5. Bonus bonus: BETRAYAL! ...Peter, no...
1x08
1. Let’s hear it for quick thinking dead heroes. Septa Mordane And Syrio Forel saved those Stark girl’s’ lives.
2. Poor bb Sansa all getting used as a pawn by people who have power over her. Your day will come, my Queen in the North.
3. Today’s sexuality: Robb Stark saying “call the banners”
4. Bonus: Dany did not save those women from being assaulted in that village to burn down King’s Landing out of spite
1x09
1. Maester Aemon’s speech about love and duty is so great and it reminded me of when this show had THEMES and common plot threads that WORKED.
2. Shae and Bronn And Tyrion playing games gives me joy, until Tyrion tells the Tysha story and I’m not ok ever.
3. Robb was a smart commander and one who Got How Serious his responsibilities were and I just love him ok.
1x10
1. Catelyn being like “FIRST get your sisters back THEN kill them ALL” to Robb is peak Stark bloodthirst and I love it.
2. NOW AND ALWAYS followed by Theon saying something that sounds a lot like the wedding vows but with swords is giving me a LOT OF THROBB FEELS this time through.
3. Mirri Maz Duur is SO INTERESTING and her actress is GREAT and I want to know MORE ABOUT HER.
4. Jeor Mormont being like “White walkers are COMING do you think it matters who sits on the Iron Throne?” Is super funny now. Because d and d sure don’t agree with him.
5. BABY DRAGONS!!! SO CUTE!!! Shrieky, but cute.

Black Sails rewatch: 1x03
There’s this shot of Silver writing down the schedule with Flint, Eleanor, Billy, Gates, and Scott hovering in a circle around him that was hilarious to me.
When Miranda is reading Meditations, she says the words “not broken” while the camera is on Max’s face. Reminds me of Idelle’s speech in s4 when she says that “despite the world reminding [Max] every day of her life that she’s undeserving of being given anything by it…she never believed a word of it.”
When I first watched this ep, I assumed that when Eleanor started yelling at Vane’s crew, she had her plan fully formed. This time I noticed a moment that I missed before: Vane says her name, trying to placate her, and she turns around and looks at him and you can see her brain working, and I think that’s when she comes up with the idea to give his men the option of joining Flint’s crew. The important thing I want to point out is that the look on her face is one of horror, not of, like, satisfaction at coming up with the answer to a problem. What I said in my initial reaction to 1x03 is still true, which is that Eleanor capitalizes on what happened to Max, but I don’t think that is her primary intention. After all, Vane and Flint have already agreed upon terms. The Walrus has its consort. Eleanor’s actions here are purely intended to punish Vane. It remains true that she almost certainly lets some people who were complicit in the abuse of Max team up with the Walrus crew, but the point is to punish the person who allowed it to happen in the first place. Eleanor failed Max majorly and continues to fail her, but I think that here she acts not as a businesswoman but as someone who loves Max and wants to see her avenged.
A couple things about Hornigold that foreshadow his betrayal of the pirates: 1. He’s a Jacobite, which, while not nearly the same as supporting King George, still shows that he believes in such thing as a “rightful king.” This is in contrast to Billy, who insists in 1x01 that “we have no kings here.” 2. He believes “we’re all just thieves awaiting a noose.” This is in contrast to Flint, who thinks that a thief is a noble thing to be and dreams of a nation of thieves that can withstand empires. 3. He feels scorn for the “ungrateful island.” I don’t want to stretch any of these points too far, as none of them is by itself indicative of someone who would inevitably turn back towards civilization, but I think when you put them together you get a clear first impression of Hornigold as someone who doesn’t live, breathe, and bleed piracy. “No matter how many stories we convince ourselves we’re part of…”
I’d like to see an AU where Anne either ignores Vane’s command or he doesn’t give it at all and she switches to Flint’s team.
When Eleanor is trying to convince Richard to support her venture with Flint, she’s nice to him until she tells him to trust her—“I can do this“—and he just looks away, at which point she looks extremely hurt and then snaps at him. I don’t think I caught that shift the first time through. It’s not just that she’s frustrated that he’s being difficult; she’s hurt that he doesn’t believe in her and never has. She’s probably already figured out that he’d value her more if she were a son.
I think Jack wanted Vane to kill Max rather than send her away, though I’m not certain. Obviously if I’m right that’s not great of him, but it’s no different from Anne giving her to the Ranger crew to kill in the first place. But when Hamund and company assault Max, Jack comes running to Vane to put a stop to it. Could that be a bit of decency from our dear Jack, who at this early stage mostly seems like a ball of pure slime? I’m going to interpret it as such. Speaking of Jack, he remains my favorite character. Oh, and when he comes rushing into Vane’s tent calling for him to help and then he sees Eleanor, he goes “Oh shit” and it’s a very serious situation but his delivery of that line is hilarious.
Billy doesn’t like Flint, but at this stage he still expresses doubt when Morley says the crew are disposable to Flint. Oh, my dear naive Billy.
I’m trying not to be unfair to Pastor Lambrick because he doesn’t know that he’s on a show where the pirates are the heroes but god, he’s so judgmental! Like, I know he’s right to be judgmental of the pirates, but I’m loyal to Flint and I don’t like the way Lambrick talks about him and I love how cool Miranda becomes the moment her husband’s boyfriend—boyfriend-in-law?—is slighted.
People keep cutting Jack off while he’s monologuing.
I’m assuming the role of Thomas had not yet been cast when s1 was made because while Miranda in the portrait closely resembles Louise Barnes, Thomas in the portrait looks nothing like RPJ.
