okay not to give you all so much whiplash today but i’m over tired and over caffeinated so here’s a JJ dumps her feelings post:

woke up this morning REALLY missing indie. Beause i fucking love you guys and i love jj and i love all my plots and threads here and anytime i’m away i’ll randomly scroll by one of you on discord or something and just be like gosh i need to get back on indie! everyone probably thinks i’m a flake! i miss them!!!!!!!

and then i come back on here, i get so excited, i get ready to write stuff, make new blogs, and go for it. and then i remember that as soon as i let myself do that, i let indie take over my life lmao. Because I can’t do anything without doing it ALL THE WAY. So I suddenly want 2398423 threads and 29308 blogs and all the things and to talk to all of you at once. But the reality is that i can’t do that right now. I just finished a massive script deadline for warner bros this week, and i have a huge opportunity to write a feature for i told y’all about a few weeks ago. and i have an original pilot i have to finish my september for another deadline. In the meantime, I’ve been REALLY enjoying giffing on my fandom blog @hope-mikaelson and reconnecting with all my fandom friends i haven’t talked to in ages. And that’s a little more stress free and low energy and something i can do on my own time. Even though i’ve of course already taken on 2394 sideblogs and porjects there too. So then when I’m not there i feel bad that i’m abandoning them again the same way i hate that i’m abandoning you guys again. 

I recently fell into a 2012 pitch perfect rabbit hole? so i’ve bene having fun with that fandom and considering writing a fic to get some of my fun writing in on the side of work writing. But then I think maybe i could just come back to indie and write chloe on indie and get my PP jollies THAT WAY. 

I’m still itching to make that gabby dawson blog so at some point i’ll probably do that, whether that means i move JJ to a multi or make her low activity or whattttt. I really don’t know. BUT i think the conclusion i’ve come to in the last hour while i sit here and spiral (so sorry!!! ) is that i can not run back to indie every time i miss it/feel guilty/feel anxious/miss you guys. as much as i WANT TO. And i’ve got to try and except my limitations. and also it still makes me feel a little sad to be here and i know that is going to take some serious willpower to work past when i do come back for real, and at the moment i don’t have the brain space to give i that. if that makes sense????

Anyway those of you that are always so kind when i come back and patient when i abandon you 2394823 times, and still want things, i may def still try to do some discord writing. don’t ever hesitate to message me even if i occasionally flake and space on you. There’s just a lot in my head at the moment. 

I realize this is a fucking DIARY ENTRY i just wanted to articule my weird emotional swings back to the dash and trying to write and vanishing again.

feels like i’m in 2309843 different spirals at once. i want to come back to jj becuase i miss her and i miss everyone here. i want to finally get my gabby blog up splitting focus seems scary. and i also want to get my OC multi @victoried back to moving becuase i have a few i want to add and actually use. but i might also consider making it OCs and canons? Because i low key want to add Buffy andddddddddd high key want to write chloe beale. because i’m feeling 2012 in this chilis.

     bring back kindness. re-ignite the old mannerisms of wanting to help each other as role players, not hunt and break each other down for the smallest of mistakes. caring is cool, and it’s time to make it a trend again.

     bring back helpfulness. aid the role players who aren’t as big as you. show support and care on your path as you, too, were that role player at some point in life. include, don’t exclude. make this hobby enjoyable again, show the newcomers that they too have a place among the veterans of this page.

     bring back patience. people will do mistakes, it’s a part of our system, but allow people to make up for what they did. allow people to grow as growing takes time and mistakes can be made up for; there are no judges here, no police, not anyone with the slightest spec of power. we are all people, and threats do not belong here.

     bring back humanity, because tumblr role playing community is running dry.

             he should stay away. his every move is under scrutiny, not just by agent jareau herself, but her team. they have good hearts and letting them see his face, having given them too much information was foolish. it endangers them and his work. if he was more in control of himself he’d request a transfer so he could get away from this country. somewhere where he can start fresh without anyone knowing what he’s doing. but something in him just. can’t. he’s not done yet…maybe, eventually, she’ll see it too. she’ll understand. 

he told himself this was the last one. he would track them down and then he would stop. but of course the bau had to be tracking them too. of course she had to get herself wrapped up in something he could have taken care of so quickly. so here he is now, trained steps carrying him quietly and carefully towards the unsub. he’s too focused on the agent, too full of himself to think he could possibly be in danger. and that ego will be what gets him killed. emil is swift and precise as he comes up behind him, blade of his knife pressing to his throat as his arm wraps around his chest to pull him back away from jj. she’s an innocent and he promised himself not to let any more like that die if he could stop it.  face turns slightly as he hisses into the man’s ear   “  stay still and be quiet. and maybe i’ll make it quick. for her sake.  ”

             She hits the ground hard. The sound of the baseball bat he’d been holding echoes in her head with a sickening ring. She can’t help but think about how it sounds exactly like you’d imagine it does when a baseball bat hits anything else. But she can’t focus on that, she has to focus on the unsub, on getting out of this basement. It had been a routine line of questioning, nothing they expected to end in a blitz attack. But he was on edge -- he knew they were on to them -- and now she’s the one caught off guard -- not once, but twice as another set of footsteps, and another voice enters the room. 

JJ thinks it’s Morgan at first. He’d gone around back to talk to the wife in the garden. But when she looks up, it isn’t Morgan. It’s -- “Emil...” as fast as she can, she shakes off the pounding echo in her head and the feeling of her own blood in her ears and gets to her feet, one hand reaching for her sidearm. “Emil, I’m fine.” She hears his words. For her sake. He’s one of the strangest people they’ve ever come across, a danger and yet with a moral alignment so specific it’s nearly unpredictable because of it. It reeks of a code, of brainwashing, of something she can’t put her finger on. The last thing JJ wants to do is point a gun at him, but she does it anyway, because it’s protocol, because none of this has been predictable. “Emil, you got him. We’ll take him in. Put the knife down.”

SO YOU WANT TO KNOW JENNIFER JAREAU?  PT. 1

[I’m sorry I took forever to answer this because I kept saying I was going to come back and finish it so for now you get part one.]

The reality is, Criminal Minds is 15 seasons of television. And in this show that means roughly 15 years of these character’s lives. A LOT happens. But at the same time, this is a pretty old show and it’s a CBS procedural. It’s designed to be digestible even if you don’t follow the main plots. Unlike some other procedurals, it tends to have more of a serialized (week to week) plot going through in terms of the characters’ individual developments and the occasional bigger arc. But that said, when I say an episode is a “good JJ episode” that may mean it’s an episode where she has a good scene or two. It may mean it’s an episode where she has a defining character moment. It does not necessarily mean she will be the entire focus of the episode. The character development in a show like CM is slow and really, really built over time. And the moments you’ll see me piece together on my blog and talk about as important moments for JJ, may often feel like blips on the radar of an episode. Do not expect a 2019, golden age of TV, stop your heart kind of plot and drama. It’s just not that kind of show. It’ll do that now and then, but not all the time. 

So without further ado, I plan to break this episode list up into three subsections: *** means the episode is a must watch to know JJ’s plot and development. This will be saved for Major JJ episodes. ** is for episodes that are JJ focused or have good JJ content but may be simply a good emotional episode, and are not required in order to follow plot moments. Lastly, * means that the episode is just one that I love. It may be another character’s big arc. It may be a mystery I just think is great, or an episode that is considered classic CM. So start at the top. If you don’t have a lot of time at all, stick with the three stars. If you want a full JJ adventure, do three and two. If you want a little bonus stuff because you’re having fun and you like the other characters too, do the three stars, two stars, and ones. 

SEASON 1

*1x01: Extreme Aggressor - JJ isn’t even in this episode. But it’s the pilot. It gives you the backstory and establishes the team.  ***1x02: Compulsion - While not extremely plot relevant as most of my other three start episodes, this is in fact JJ’s first episode. So especially if you’re not going to watch 1x01, give this one a go.  [JJ is not an incredibly important character in season 1. So she’s not in much of it. But with that said, I’d suggest bopping around and watching a few random episodes just to get a feel for the team/vibe/etc] **1x14: Riding the Lightning - JJ is so awesome in this episode. It’s also considered a CM classic so def watch it. It’s not on my must watch list because rules say it’s not plot relevant to JJ’s story specifically but I’d still call it a must watch.  *1x21: Secrets and Lies - not plot relevant but it does have some delightful JJ and Garcia friendship scenes and we love them here.  *1x22: Fisher King Pt 1 - Finale. Not relevant to JJ beyond the fact that it’s the season finale. I will likely put most finales and season premieres on this list because they tend to include the big, team wide, more personal cases. 

SEASON 2

*2x01: Fisher King Pt 2 - like I said, all finales and premieres. This one is a two parter.  **2x06: Boogeyman - a CM Classic. Elle Fanning guest stars. JJ has some great moments with kids because that’s her thing. Not plot relevant.  ***2x07: North Mammon - Not SUPER plot relevant but this is the first time JJ really gets an episode of her own, that’s her arc and feels like her case. It’s a good look into her character and provides some insight into who she is. Also it’s a wild case straight out of a CW show.  *2x09: The Last Word - not important for JJ but it is Emily Prentiss’s intro episode and we just love Emily in this house and she’s a very important character in JJ’s life.  *2x12: Profiler, Profiled - again like most early season episode, not JJ centric. This is a Morgan centric episode and is really a CM classic. Goes into Morgan’s backstory and is heartbreaking and well done. If you’ve gotten this far and find yourself into him, watch this.  ***2x14-2x15: The Big Game/Revelations - This is a two parter with a case that goes in CM fandom history books. It also features some important plot stuff for JJ and some real heartbreaking trauma for the team.  ***2x18: Joneses - JJ has some romance related stuff in this episode that is p important for her arc and life in general.  **2x21: Open Season - Not super plot heavy but a good JJ episode with good scenes a decent case. Does a lot to show what JJ does in her part of the job. AND features Criminal Minds iconic girls at the bar scene. 

SEASON 3

**3x01: Doubt - I left out the season 2 finale so take it or leave it but the Season 3 premiere is good fun. Has some good JJ emotions in it.  *3x02: Name in Blood - Not JJ relevant but a good Emily episode and a case that weirdly becomes relevant in a JJ/Emily episode WAY THE FRICK in season 14 or something.  **3x04: Children of the Dark - No big plot things just a great JJ and Emily episode of them being great together acting like moms.  **3x05: Seven Seconds - No big plot things again but a good perspective of the extent of what JJ’s side of the work deals with.  *3x09: Penelope - HUGE episode, very important. For the team, For JJ, for Garcia. Watch it. [Also maybe watch the last 5 minutes of the episode before it] **3x15: Higher Power - Not that big plot wise but always assume if a plot description/case has suicide in it that it’ll have good JJ content. ***3x18: In Heat - JJ and Will stuff. You need it to know who JJ is.  *3x20: Lo-Fi - it’s a finale so it goes on the list.

SEASON 4

*4x01: Mayhem - again it’s a premiere so it goes on the list *4x03: Minimal Loss - not JJ related but a good CM classic, guest starring Luke Perry and a great Prentiss episode - JJ goes on Maternity leave / AJ goes on Maternity leave mid season 4 so there’s a big gap in JJ content But she has her baby i 4x11 if you want to see it. She returns in 4x14 *4x17: Demonology - no JJ but a huge backstory ep for Emily. Really pretty, really good. I highly recommend.  **4x23: Amplification: Not hugely plot important but a good JJ episode. Deals with her getting used to being both a mother and an agent.  *4x24-4x25: To Hell / And Back - Very disturbing season finale. Not JJ focused but a CM classic.
