Rating: Mature Pairing: Severus Snape/Nymphadora Tonks Tags: aftermath of war, aftermath of battle, recovering from a curse, nightmares, grief, isolation, living as muggles, thunder storms, huddling for warmth, mutual pining, oblivious idiots, fake marriage, there's only one bed, selkies Summary: Snape is hit by a curse during the Battle of Hogwarts and he needs to go into isolation from the magical world if he's to have any hope of recovering. Despite people vouching for him, suspicions about his loyalties still abound and the Ministry needs someone to guard him while he's in the Muggle world. And so Tonks finds herself stuck on an island in the Hebrides with Snape, where they are forced to live as Muggles in a cottage with only one bed. While the locals joke that Tonks is a selkie whose cloak Snape has taken, the former lovers haven't seen each other for a year, and the aftermath of their secret relationship is put under more pressure when they are welcomed to the village as newlyweds because the Ministry is tracking Tonks with a charmed wedding ring. The war is over but Snape and Tonks are both convinced they're still enemies and they've got to survive each other for a month.

Snape and gender, huh? It be like that. Thoughts?

Oof, that’s a hard one. I’ve read so many excellent metas here on tumblr about Snape and female heroism that I agree with.

It’s rather strange, actually, seeing all antis attributing classic male/incel characteristics to Snape, making him out to be a meninist, a homophobe, a transphobe and whatever else they can spew on him, when, after critically analyzing his character, one gets the impression he embodies countless feminine elements. 

To me, Snape is a mother figure more so than anything else. He took Lily’s place in Harry’s life. Also, when I picture him stirring his cauldrons meticulously with his long black cape, in his dark dungeon, I can’t help but think of him as an elusive, mysterious, woman like creature. 

There are so many good posts here on tumblr that speak far more eloquently and convincingly on this matter, for example by @ensnapingthesenses, that I urge everyone who’s interested in Snape and gender to look into!

that depends on what you want babe, you see, we don’t operate a serious business here and i follow mostly snape content creators (art, fics, shitposts, etc), but here are some of my favorite:

Hey, I wanted to ask if you could recommend me some Snape blogs who don't focus too much on discourse posts between anti and pro Snapers? It's just, constant reminders of the antis' mindless hatred in a place I view as a safe space gives me anxiety and yeah, I'd rather avoid the popular "the marauders are uwu" posts even if reblogged with a rebuff. Unfortunately filtering alone isn't particularly helpful with those :')

Millrat AU: Sneeplings

Inspired by ensnapingthesenses' Pokemon mashup Sev was crashing at their flat, since his house in Cokeworth had been mysteriously set on fire while the family was out. Eileen and Tobias had apparently settled with some of her cousins. Sev, though, had no interest in going into hiding, or suffering the insidious gasleak that was his parents. So there he was, stretched out on Mary's couch, looking up at Lily with bedroom eyes. It was appalling. "You can't have sex on my couch," Mary interjected. "You have a bed, you have a room, use a muffling charm." Lily sunk a hand into Sev's hair, starting stroking him. Feline, he closed his eyes and leaned into the touch. "They end up cancelling when you climax though." "Fuck, I'll cast it then." With his eyes still closed, Sev murmured, "What if there's an attack? How would we know?" Lily nudged him, and he undulated to allow her space on the couch, and settled back in her lap. Mary eyed them. "I'm certain your instinct for danger will alert you. Or the loud screams and chants of 'Eat death eat death.'" Lily smiled down at Sev. She passed a thumb along his jaw. "What a stupid thing to say. 'Eat death.' But they're the Death Eaters. Why tell us?" "Cults aren't known for their intelligence," Mary said authoritatively. Severus opened one beady black eye. "How would you know?" "Yeah," Lily chimed in, "it takes a certain organizational know-how to get a cultic terrorist movement going." Mary scrunched up her nose and sighed. "Still a fucking stupid name. Stupid chant. If I had to name a cult, I'd come up with something with...more depth." "Oh, like what?" Sev asked, amused. "We could be the Marians. Or the Mariae--under her merry eye! See, it puns, it references Christianity and blessed virginhood and so Sophia, it's clever and personal." Snape looked doubtful. Lily laughed at him. "Oh what Sev, what'd you call it? The Snapelings?" "The Sneeplings," Mary chortled. Severus, disgruntled, lifted himself out of Lily's lap and made to move away, but Lily wrapped her arms around him and was crooning, "Sneeplings, seedlings, steepling seedlings...." Touchy bastard, Mary thought, but as blunt as Lily was, she was rubbing smooth his rough edges, unfortunately literally. He was getting soothed--too liquid, Lily was leaning over him, oh her feet were no longer touching the floor, oh no. "Don't have sex on my couch," Mary barked.

Hey guys! Trans Snape Week is coming up in August and we wanted to give you all a lot of time to work on things. Here’s what you should know:

What is Trans Snape Week?

It’s the third installment of a week-long event celebrating depictions and interpretations of Severus Snape as seen through a trans-friendly lens.

When is this happening?

It starts on August 1st and ends on August 7th, 2017.  And you can  find the prompts here!

Is this for any specific kind of trans identities?

Nope. Any gender identity that is not cisgender is acceptable. Bring on your nonbinary, agender, genderfluid, demi-, etc.

Can I participate if I’m not trans?

Yes! Anyone can participate regardless of their gender identity.What can I post?Anything relating to your interpretations of Snape as trans. You can participate in any form you want - writing fanfic, headcanons and meta, drawing fanart, making graphics and fanvids, moodboards, edits, quilts, sock puppets, interpretive dance. Sky’s the limit.

How do I post it?

On your blog with the tag #trans snape week (so we can find it and reblog it), or by mentioning us in your post at @snapeloveposts. You can also submit it here during Trans Snape Week. You can also queue or schedule your posts in advance if you won’t be online for that week.

Keep in mind:

This is an opportunity to celebrate trans headcanons and to further positivity and acceptance. Therefore, while you may explore difficult or heavy themes in your contributions (transphobia, microaggressions, life as a closeted trans person, etc) and the effect they have on the characters you explore, content that is harmful, transphobic and disrespectful in its nature won’t be accepted. We want to create a welcoming space for all, so we ask you not to be mean to other fans. At the same time, if we accidentally reblog something harmful, transphobic or exclusionary, please let us know so we can take it down.
