I just found this in my drafts and I don’t remember writing it or where exactly I was going with it, but hey! Have some random Gardenshipping thoughts!
(cw: none. one minor suggestive mention of office stuff. under cut for length)
Tumblr media
For all the silverfox!Emmet x Reina stuff I’ve thought of, for some reason I’ve never thought of Reshiram!Emmet x Reina before? So...
🔥 I imagine Emmet is an aspect of Reshiram - not the god-dragon in full, but a piece of it. He’s probably reincarnated several hundred times by now, as the mortal aspect of Truth, and has memories of all his previous mortal incarnations as well as Reshiram’s memories and probably even a good chunk of Kyurem’s. The man is A Mess™️, especially after Ingo, his twin, his brother, his other half (platonic, don’t make it weird), vanishes. After all, what is Truth without Ideals to give it purpose?
🔥 That’s why, when he meets Reina and she becomes his personal assistant at Gear Station, he gravitates towards her. Just like in Gardenshipping canon, he starts to fall for her because of her genuinely kind and caring nature; she also has no idea he’s a piece of a fucking god, so she just treats him like a normal person. Not a celebrity trainer, not a deity, just. As Emmet. And he soaks it up like a man dying of thirst. Here’s this beautiful young woman who truly doesn’t care what or who he is, she just wants to make sure he’s eating and sleeping and taking care of himself. How can he not be intrigued by her?
🔥 He can also smell dishonesty a mile away and he can tell Reina is just actually that good of a person. Sure, she lies about her living situation (she doesn’t tell him that she’s unhoused for the longest time), but I’d imagine Emmet can also tell the intent of a falsehood, so he probably picks up on the fact that any lie she tells is born from the need to survive, rather than malice or the desire to mislead. She isn’t hurting anyone - she just wants to keep her misfortunes private, and Emmet can... sooooort of understand that? (He might not like it, it makes him worry about her, but in the end it really only affects Reina herself, which makes Emmet bound and determined to get to the bottom of her problems and help her in any way he can. The man is SMITTEN.)
🍃 On Reina’s side, I honestly don’t think she’s all that religious; Reina is from Kanto originally, and she has a lot of internalized stuff from the local belief system (i.e. she’ll say things like “Legends” or “Birds” in place of “Arceus” or “Dragons”). She’ll probably still have a subconscious desire to believe in something, but she doesn’t actively practice anything. Also, having only been in Unova for a couple of years at most, she might not really understand the region’s religion all that much. She probably doesn’t really think about it - which. Valid.
🍃 That being said, she would probably not know how to handle being face to face with a literal piece of a deity. For starters, her entire worldview would be - at the very least - a little bit shaken. After all, if you go from nearly thirty years of disillusionment and not fully believing in anything because you’ve been through absolute hell, to suddenly finding out the man you’re in love with (and who’s been railing you over his desk every day) is the Incarnation of Truth, you miiiiiight need a moment to process.
🍃 (That last part, especially, because how on earth do you reconcile the fact that you’ve had an actual god between your legs?)
🍃 Reina already has hella self worth issues, so to find out that her boyfriend isn’t even human, she might not handle it well for a while. In her eyes, what could a god possibly see in a lowly human like her? She still loves him, that part will never change, but she’ll have to take some time to try and reorient before she can even work up the courage to go near him again.
🔥 Emmet, in the meantime, is going to be utterly distraught. He’ll put on his trademark Subway Master Emmet smile, but it’ll be hanging on with a hope and a wish, because he is not doing okay knowing that the love of his life might be terrified of him now. He can’t lie, no, but he’s gotten really, really good at talking around the truth after countless lifetimes, so anyone that asks how he’s doing is getting a series of non-answers until he can slip away. Reina makes him feel normal, human almost, which is something he’s never fully gotten to experience - because while he might be a shard of a Dragon, he’s still somewhat his own entity, since he’s, you know, actually out in the world of man and not sitting dormant in a rock somewhere. He’s constantly torn between two halves of his own existence, and the thing that made it bearable all this time was his twin; with Ingo gone, however, Emmet has been feeling the extra weight of responsibility around his shoulders like a yolk for damn near a decade.
🔥 Until Reina.
🔥 (Like in regular Gardenshipping canon, one of the reasons Emmet falls for Reina is because she just treats him like a person. Doesn’t fawn, doesn’t get close to him just to challenge him, doesn’t pity him; just sits with him and lets him be a regular guy.)
🔥 I’m also imagining the way Reina even finds out Emmet is one of the God Dragons of Unova is uhhhhhhh not the most pleasant of circumstances. Probably Team Plasma, but I’m picturing there being some sort of siege on Gear Station or an attack somewhere that requires Reshiram’s attention, and somehow, someway, Reina winds up witnessing Emmet with his more draconian features and spewing ethereal fire. Get that sweet, sweet ‘oh shit’ moment with Emmet turning around, eyes slitted and glowing, claws out, wings sprouting from his back, fire still trickling from between fangs too big for a human mouth, only to see Reina standing there, completely frozen, just staring at him.
🔥 The follow-up conversation is gonna be... a lot.
🍃 I feel like it’ll take about a week or so for her to be able to talk to him again

Doodles! Colors are not accurate, lol. But close enough. Also I totally misspelled cinnamon but my handwriting is so bad that you probably can’t even tell 🤣
Blank shippers DNI. 👀
Anyways, I think I’ve figured the pairings out. Ienzo is a smoll strong with N, and Amelia is a simp for the twins.
The current ages are post BW and pre Arceus. There’s probably a three year time skip for when that happens. Ingo goes missing first, and then when Amelia is traveling with Ienzo to help find him Arceus nabs Amelia.
The entire fam is goth save for El and it was mostly unintentional. Amelia wears more light clothes than her siblings do. She’s also the middle child. Steven remains a dreamboat even in his older age. 👌🏻 He shall continue to be so. El will def be that doting grandma when she’s even older. Will adopt Ingo and Emmet on the spot when they’re introduced.
Ienzo: psychic/dark type pokemon. Started his journey at 18, at the request of his parents as when his mother was a child she had been kidnapped and missing for many years.
Amelia: steel/grass type pokemon. Prefers to work at her mother’s pokemon daycare, but joins Ienzo on his journey when she’s 15 to keep him out of trouble. The two eventually wind up in Unova when they’re 20 and 23.
Aria: dark/fairy/psychic pokemon. Starts her journey in Galar when she’s 10, as she was penpals with Hop and they promised to get their starter pokemon together. Has a shiny Ralts and Sylveon, courtesy of Amelia’s hobby of breeding pokemon.

It must have been a bit weird from Emmet to go from " Uncle Emmet" to "Dad" by Eva. He isn't married to Miguel, only been dating for 5 years as of SV, so there's a part of him that's like " there's no reason for Eva to call me Dad yet!" And then Eva actually calls him dad. It takes him a minute to process what exactly that means. He's used to being called Uncle Emmet. Not just with Eva, but the other kids ( I say kids, when the twins, Wayne and the rivals are all in their mid 20's at this point). Uncle Emmet and Uncle Ingo. But now, to Eva, it's Uncle Ingo and Dad. It's....it's honestly a lot to take in. Dad. He's a dad now. D a d.
Despite its weirdness at first, it's not an unwelcomed feeling. In fact, Emmet adores the feeling.

Cerulean
More Gardenshipping, with Reina x Emmet in the Age Gap au - collectively titled ‘Watching the Earth Rise.’
This one’s set two months after Reina’s drunken confession in Lost and Found; it’s not the one I mentioned in the tags of a different post (I... can’t remember which one), but it is the night directly before. That one is almost done and I’ll probably upload it, too, if people are interested~
This is also where Emmet’s quote from the shipping meme thing comes from.
(Thank you again for the amazing feedback, by the way! I’m so thrilled that everyone likes Reina so much!! <3)
CW: some minor self-depreciation, mentions of alcohol use, allusions to past tragedy. Other than that, it’s pure fluff. (Flashing lights in the song link.)
===
“I still fall for you like suns do for skies
Cerulean pouring in from your eyes
Just a hollow moon that you colorize
So powerful, I feel so small but so alive
Like watching the earth rise…”
- (“Earthrise,” Starset)
===
The autumn night is comfortably warm as they walk side by side, hands brushing occasionally but not quite managing to catch; every time Reina thinks she has the courage to twine her fingers with Emmet’s, she quickly tucks them away again.
She isn’t sure how to go about any of this.
Two months of dancing around one another. Two months of Emmet being unbelievably patient with her as she creeps ever emotionally closer like a scared litten slowly coming out from under the bed. Two months - July into September - since two bottles of gods-awful vodka and grief had loosened her tongue and spilled her adoration through the phone and straight into her boss’s hands. Two. Months. And still she’s struggled with the chains that hold her heart safe inside its cage.
He’d told her he loved her back; she has no idea what to do with that, even now.
(Cracked and dented as she is, she doesn’t think she’s worth the wait. She doesn’t tell him that.)
The funniest part about the whole situation is that Emmet - patient and kind - makes her want to be worth it. He makes her want to be human again, not just whatever hollowed out mannequin she’s become, and maybe she’s being selfish, but she wants him to want her. She’s so tired of being invisible, even if it’s been by her own choosing for the past ten years - better to be forgotten on her own terms than in a way she has no hope to control.
(And that’s the thing: she’d tried to hide away, to keep herself locked up tight and stay as unnoticeable as possible, but Emmet had refused to not see her. And that is probably what made her start to see him back.)
Reina doesn’t realize how long she’s been buried in her own thoughts until there’s a soft brush of a hand against her own. She blinks back to existence to see that they’ve stopped walking - her own body unconsciously attuned to his as it’s been for the past 10 months.
(Ten years of hiding behind a layer of iron and ice; ten months for him to break it down without even trying.)
“Hmm?” she questions, tilting her head at him instead of digging for words at the back of her tongue.
Emmet pulls his hand away with a slowness that feels painful; his eyes linger on the space between their fingers as it stretches wider, until he’s tucked his hand back into his coat sleeve and let it come to rest at his side.
“...We are at the halfway point.”
Reina furrows her brow in confusion. Looking around properly, she sees that - indeed - they are at the halfway point between his apartment and hers. This would normally be where she’d turn down a different street at the end of the block and disappear into the more affordable sections of the city, while he would assumedly turn and go the other way.
But this is the first time he’s walked her home, despite the many times he’s offered. (And, admittedly, Reina finds that she’s more comfortable with the nighttime commute than she’s ever been before, despite the different form of discomfort that comes from being awkward around the man she has feelings for. Emmet’s presence is soothing in a way she doesn’t know how to describe, and it’s probably because of him that she let herself get so lost in thought to begin with.)
She exhales quietly and runs the thumbs on both hands across her the backs of her fingers, popping her knuckles one by one.
“...So we are.”
She looks back at him, and finds that his eyes have been on her the whole time.
Turning, she angles her body towards him. “Emmet?”
He blinks, shifts his gaze to search her face, furrows his brow slightly in obvious thought even as his eyes themselves are soft. She feels her heart speed up and decides she needs to blink, to speak, anything to break the spell.
"What's up?" she asks quietly, just to fill the poignant silence.
Monotone as ever, he says, "...I am unsure how to tactfully ask if you'd like to spend the night with me."
She can't help it - she laughs. It's a quick thing, a bark and then a giggle, a sound made more from her being caught off guard by his frankness than anything else. Though what she even expected from him but candor, she doesn't know. She looks back up at him with a warm, fond smile so he knows she's not laughing at him. She lets the edges of it turn playful to drive it home.
"I mean," she says, eyes crinkling, "I think that was pretty tactful, actually." She smirks up at him through her bangs. "It could have been a lot worse; you could have just straight up asked if I was down to fuck."
Emmet's face contorts. The smile is still there but it's strained, flattened out slightly like the failed birth of a grimace, and his eyes are tight. "I would not ask that," he says. "Not… like that." He says it carefully, too, like there's something else there he can't find the words for, a deeper feeling he doesn't know how to vocalize but is doing his best to delicately try anyway.
(She realizes with surprise that he's been doing this off and on for a while now, she'd just never managed to pin down what it was. The thought of her being something he'd actively try to verbalize for makes her already-stuttering heart beat even further off-kilter.)
She lets him find his thoughts and tries not to implode under the weight of his quietude.
Eventually he takes a step forward, reaching out a (shaking) hand to catch her fingers in his own. "That would imply sex is all I want from you; it is not. I am Emmet, I am not interested in a quick fling." He turns his hand so that his fingers, still shaking, slot with hers. His voice is so, so quiet when he speaks again, a level of vulnerability she hasn't seen before creeping into his usually toneless words. "I was serious when I said I love you." He pauses, looking down at their combined hands. "It would not just be a fuck for me."
Reina has never believed that something could almost literally take a person's breath away; now, standing under a street lamp equidistant between his place and hers, she finds herself exhaling in a single short, quiet, quivering burst. She knows that if she pulls away, lets go of his hand, tells him "not tonight," then he'll let her go without protest. He'll smile - and it will be smaller but it will still be real - and walk her home, no questions asked. No coercion, no ill will, no ulterior motive beyond wanting to make sure she's safe and comfortable. He'll be disappointed, she's sure, though probably not so much over not getting laid and more at the idea that he's messed up somehow. (He's easier to read than most people take the time to realize, she's learned; you just have to be willing to look.)
Reina looks up at this sweet, sweet man, this wonderfully kind and friendly man, endlessly caring to the point of self-sacrifice sometimes, awkward and anxious and constantly just trying to do his best to navigate human interaction on a daily basis, hiding his efforts behind a mask of joviality, secretly the biggest dork to ever exist - and feels something inside herself finally, finally come back from the brink of oblivion.
"Fuck," she whispers. She’d never stood a chance, had she? "Fuck, Em…" She lifts her hands, carefully disentangling from him, and brings them up to the sides of his face, stroking her thumbs across his cheekbones.
He brings his own hands up to cover hers, his expression both happy at the contact and worried by her delayed reaction. He tilts his head at her, brow creasing in confusion. She feels something spill from her eyes and trickle down her cheeks at the same time his eyes widen and he makes a noise of concern.
"Please kiss me," she begs. It's quiet, desperate in the way only someone starved for love can be, hopeful and scared all at once; she can hear it in the cracking of her own voice, hears it mirror the way Emmet's hand had been shaking as he reached for her before.
Without hesitation he leans in, covering her lips with his, hands sliding down her arms to wrap around her waist and pull her close; she slips her arms around his neck and pulls him closer.
"I love you," she whispers into the kiss, sobs without sorrow but instead, the breaking of a dam. It's the first time she's said it since the first time she'd said it - the first time she's said it sober - and she feels his breath catch against her chest from where they're pressed together.
It isn't the first time they've kissed; there have been a handful of others (small pecks on the cheek, chaste brushes of lips along the corners of one another's mouths, little moments stolen in between larger pieces of life and responsibility, usually initiated by Emmet when she was too afraid to believe this was real), but this is the first one that carries so much weight. It's a turning point, a beginning, and for the first time in her entire life, Reina meets it head on, embracing it with open arms. She's spent her whole existence in a state of perpetual stagnation, guarded and afraid, with nothing left to lose, but with nothing to hold onto as a result, nothing to ground herself should the things she's been running from finally catch up enough to bury her. Now, though, in the last place she'd have ever expected it to be, there's a light at the end of her long, lonely tunnel.
She takes a step into the unknown, and finds, not a bottomless chasm, but solid ground - with someone there to greet her on the other side.
"Em," she murmurs, sliding her hands back around to rest against his jawline. He pauses, pulls back just so, giving her room to collect herself after the kiss. She pecks the tip of his nose in thanks, earning her a quiet giggle.
"I love you," he breathes, resting their foreheads together. Pale eyes slit open to peer down at her through the softest, most adoring smile she's ever seen.
"I love you, too."
His eyes slide closed again at her words, crinkling as he smiles, deepening the shallow crows feet at the edges. He sighs. "I have never been in love before," he admits. "You are my favorite person, I am happy it was with you."
Reina nearly chokes as her eyes threaten to spill back over with tears. She squeezes them shut and nuzzles her nose against his. "Gods, Em, you can't just say stuff like that."
She kisses him before he can think she's being literal, or that he's done something wrong. When she pulls back again, she tries to meet his eyes - with minimal success, but the effort is there. "I adore you; you have no idea how much."
Emmet groans. Pulling her flush against him once more, he buries his face in her shoulder and hugs her for all he's worth. "Stay with me tonight. Please? No expectations, just… just stay."
He doesn't have to extrapolate for her to understand what he's really asking. "Of course," she promises against his ear with the same quiet fervor as his own. "Of course, Em, of course I'll stay."
He clutches her impossibly tighter, a hitch in his breath muffled into her shoulder belying his own dam beginning to overflow. His grip is far from painful, however; instead, it's a comfort. Like a weighted blanket, steady and grounding, pushing her towards the overdue end to her decade-long derealization.
She squeezes him back just as tightly and runs her fingers through his hair. "Take me home, Em," she whispers, words deceptively easy, and nuzzles his temple. She leaves it unspoken that he's her home now, knowing full well that, in this stolen moment, he'll understand what she means.

Galaxy Team Ingo and Emmet would like to Battle!
In continuation with my Warden Amber AU, Ingo and Emmet have travelled back to Hisui in order to find Amber. They’ve joined the Galaxy Team after proving themselves in battle. They hide that theyre from Unova, disguised as travelers, and have integrated themselves in Jubilife Village.
Arriving in Hisui, memories fully intact, they set off to find a settlement or some sign of people. Luckily, they ran into the Galaxy Team at Jubilife, and asked to join them. Suspicious of the outsiders, Ingo and Emmet were put to a test, which they easily passed as modern day trainers and Subway Bosses. Showing off the strength they had cultivated for many years, they were quickly scouted for the Security Corps. The twins were hesitant at first, guard duty meant they were limited in the time spent looking for Amber’s whereabouts, but didn’t want to pass up an opportunity to join the settlement.
Ingo joined the Security Corps, unwilling to let the good people of Jubilife live in fear behind their walls, his sense of responsibility too great to ignore. His stoic personality and straight face made a few villagers wary of him at first, but his cheerful personality and friendly nature made many people warm up to him.
Emmet requested another Corps, hoping to use more of his time to find Amber. He was put into the Survey Corps, and was tasked with dealing with Alphas that occasionally plagued them. He had a lot of energy, and despite his monotone way of speaking, his tendency to often pop up when people least expected him to (Because he was eavesdropping). His endless energy and helpful attitude won over many people in the settlement.
▲ Security Corps Ingo▲
▲ - Ingo’s sense of responsibility was the main reason why he accepted being in the Security Corps. He didn’t want to leave the good people of Hisui in danger, when he had the power to defend them. He quickly became one of Zisu’s lieutenants, using his skills from being a Subway Boss to their fullest.
▲ - Ingo usually has candy, rare candy and regular candy on his person. Hes gotten used to handing them out to the children around the village, and later to the young members of the Survey Corps as they leave on missions. (He gives them to Emmet too.)
▲ - Ingo is a great cook, and often enjoys exchanging recipes with Beni. His domestic nature levelling up in Ancient Sinnoh. Of course, he tends to cook Potato Mochi to spite Emmet, who is very tired of it as a meal after missions.
▲ - Hes become good friends with Zisu, who understands his predicament and hopes he finds Amber soon. She promises that if she has any information, to pass it forward to him. They battle often, to learn how to cooperate better, and to stay well trained.
▽ Survey Corps Emmet ▽
▽ - Emmet wanted to transfer to a different Unit since having Ingo in Security was more than enough power. He mostly wanted a freer role to find more information on Amber’s whereabouts. Though, his competitve nature made his goal “To earn ten stars as a member of the Survey Corps.” Ingo really hopes he didnt forget about Amber.
▽ - At first they were uncertain how to place Emmet, given that the Survey Corps only had one other member. But they were certain Emmet could handle the Alphas that occasionally threatened their village. He ended up with the Moniker “The Alpha Hunter”.
▽ - Eventually he began training the other, much more younger member of the Survey Corps. He thinks its endearing that they slipped up and called him “Uncle Emmet” once. He has great hopes for them as a trainer, but sometimes has to remind himself that he can’t stomp them in a Pokemon Battle like he does on the Subway.
▽ - Emmet picked up the crafting system better than Ingo did, and rubs it in the older twins face as he triumphantly held up a crafted Pokeball, certified by the other member of the Survey Corps. Ingo glared, tonight's dinner is potato mochi.
▲ Ingo and Emmet  ▽
They’ve been in Hisui for around a month or two, just before Arceus’ chosen one landed on the beach. Though they know that the young trainer came from the future, and not the sky, they say nothing and feign ignorance.
This is mostly due in part to the deal they’ve made the Lake Guardians, in exchange for the chance to find Amber. Should they utter anything about the future, explain where they’re from, then the mark on their backs will immediately take their arm, wipe their memories, and send them back to the present. Forever unable to return.
Though they still feel great sympathy for the young trainer, and try to help them however they can. Even if it meant going against Kamado’s orders. They would never allow someone who had so much responsibility and demands put on them, be left alone in this harsh past.
They usually wear black and white messenger caps over their hair, which has grown since arriving in Hisui. They really want to get a haircut soon though...
Emmet wears a white glove over his left and Ingo wears a black glove over his right. The other hand is bare. Their Obi’s were a gift, designed custom to their requests. (Ingo’s is the purple flames of Chandelure and Emmet’s is the lightning of Eleketross.)
They have their Amber’s Pokemon team with them, and their original teams are left behind for use in the Subway and Gear Station. They knew Amber’s team wouldnt want to be left behind, and didnt want to arouse suspicion with a foreign team, despite being foreigners themselves.
Their battle prowess is the same, though they are saddened they can’t find anyone on their level to have a fair match with. Emmet enjoys battling the Alphas however, Ingo is jealous he doesnt often get the chance to do so.
