Sometimes you just don't communicate well online and what you said is taken very negatively. I would delete this but it was re-blogged too much and I don't want it to have zero context, so I'll edit instead. All the original text remains.
I love you Fanny Price (Mansfield Park) for wanting to look the best in your ballgown.
Explanation: Fanny really cares about looking good for a ball. This is never mocked, it's taken as a real and sympathetic concern. So often I feel like women are dismissed for even caring about their appearance.
I love you Elle Woods (Legally Blonde) for going to court in a pink dress.
Pink often is seen as girly and infantile. Also, I love that we actually see the effort that Elle puts into being pretty. She cares about it and it's an investment. What we seem to get now is instant make-up and fashion from characters who don't actually care about it. Like you have to look the best at all times but it should also be effortless.
I love you Beth Harmon (The Queen's Gambit) for using your winnings to buy nice clothes.
I thought they would throw Beth Harmon into the frump category (ie: A woman only has brain cells to be smart OR pretty, not both, think Amy from The Big Bang Theory). Also she's not shamed for spending her money on clothing and not more important stuff.
I love you Joan Harris (Mad Men) for showing a woman can be both sexy and very good at her job.
This one has probably been taken the worst. Joan's character is fascinating to me because she falls into a bunch of "sleep your way to the top" stereotypes but they subverted those expectations. She is sexy, she does use it or attempt to use it to her advantage (it mostly ends up hurting her), but she is also very smart and very good at her job. It makes me so angry that most characters, even Peggy at first, dismiss her as just trading on her looks. I loved how complex a character she was and that she wasn't just a "bimbo"
I wish there were more of you, instead of an endless trope of Strong Women TM acting and dressing like men.
Edit: This post was taken as an insult by people I did not intend to offend. I would be more than happy to see women of all types in media. What makes me sad is that it's still rare to see a woman enjoying being feminine without being portrayed as stupid.

I think Anakin should accuse Obi-Wan of being a blonde* and then refuse to hear any arguments against it.
Need Anakin to make dumb blonde jokes and use his own single brain cell moments as evidence when Obi-Wan tries to protest.
Anakin: It is my force-given right to be dumb as hell.
From @atagotiak on discord:
Obi-Wan: Your hair is brown (also honestly you were smarter back when you were blonde tbh)
And from @jebiknights:
anakin: as my fellow blonde- obi wan: do YOU even count as a blonde anymore??? anakin: once a blonde always a blonde!! i hope space legally blonde exists so anakin can half ironically idolize space elle woods ahsoka joins in on both sides as she wishes whatever is going to cause maximum chaos anyway, i think anakin also needs to start making comments about if he doesnt consider himself blonde does that mean he dies his hair? [picture of comics Obi-Wan] look at this man and tell me he isnt dumb orange cat color this man is a ginger
Anakin hides strawberry-shaped trinkets around Obi-Wan’s rooms because he's Strawberry Blonde. Obi-Wan is seconds away from strangling this kid.
Ahsoka decides this means her masters need to take a Rap Album photo with Rex for team blonde. Rex is appropriately confused, on account of being the only blonde here, and he does bleach it.
(Ahsoka snacking, watching, with no horse in the race because she has only eyelashes, and also sees colors differently from humans and so her vote doesn't count.)
Anakin is convinced enough (and bored enough) to get on a table for purposes of Shouting Blonde Truthing From The High Ground, because he will die on any hill.
Tumblr media
* Any actual discourse on the topic of McGregor's hair color is banned. If you're arguing about whether he's actually a redhead, it needs to be in character. I've already heard it all and don't care to hear more. He's described as having auburn hair. He's animated and drawn with subtly different shades. Some cultures would consider him a redhead, and some would consider him a strawberry blonde, and some would consider him a brunette. It's all relative and we're not having that conversation again. General practice has him as some variety of muted redhead, and that's what I'm sticking with.
And from @epicmusic42:
As someone with the same type of hair colour as Ewan, I will chime in to say that stress levels and sun exposure literally change the colour. Low stress + high sun = ginger Low stress + Low sun = brown High stress + high sun = arguably pink High stress + Low sun = blonde
Also an option is that Ewan portrays a variation of the character that is not accurate to the reality of the person, and the Real Obi-Wan is more ginger than the actor portraying him, okay done talking about this now.

Decapolice Ocs
Elle Yale
“Hey ya, guys! Welcome to my crime lab! Find clues, solve the mystery, but don’t mess up anything or you’ll be banned!”
Age: 23
A very pink-focused forensic scientist who is very popular among the police station. When she is a child and as she grew into a young woman, she was obsessed with science. While her parents didn’t agree with her career (more information later), they tried to give her the best education to pursue her dreams.
“Why is Harvard is so insufferable? His loud voice! His stupid personality! Don’t tell him this, but he better choose a different forensics scientist or else!”
While she gets along with most of the team, he despises Harvard with a passion, due to his smug attitude and Harvard….. thinks she is just a cute scientist who might have a crush on him and very good at hiding it. On the other hand, she has a crush on Carl, due to his sweet personality and his sense of justice. Carl, when he discover this, tries to not rush it and worries that it isn’t the right time, but still tries to flirt with her.
Appearance: She is a young woman with a two ponytails that are medium length and are stuck together with a scrunchies. She has some hair clips on her to kept her bangs.
Main tactic: Special attacks
Ultimate move: Perfect Cell Attack
Retsu Tohuko
Age: 25
“This corpse………. It must have really suffered a lot of hell. Like me. I can tell from its expression.
A weird mortician who the team mets throughout the game. He is a mortuarist who checks on the dead bodies. He is hated around the station due to his disturbing vibes and creepy appearance with only having one friend (Yale) but despite this he tries to be a nice person around with a very creepy hobby.
As a child and throughout adulthood, he has been through near death experiences, leaving him feeling isolated and making an outcast even with his family (but that’s for another day). As he grew up, he became obsessed with the cycle of life of death and studied death and how people died through ways. When he got into college, he went into forensics
“Everybody dies somebody, maybe even you, Marks. Whenever it is, we all have to be prepared because death always comes no matter what
He doesn’t join the team until much later in the game when the team are investigating the Clown and has him check out the bodies of the other victims which includes Harvard’s mom. When Harvard finds out about this and freaks out, he is able to calm him down and deduces that they are related. He then tells Harvard that whenever that goes down, he mustn’t kill the Clown or he’ll be kicked off his job.
Appearance: He is a scrawny and thin man who is quite tall, but not to pass as a giant. His hair is short black that looks like it has cut off recently and has blue eyes. He is always shown to wear a mask on his face, making people believed there was a horrific scar on his face. They’re…….. half-right with having a scar cover the left side of his face which he covers up with his mask and makeup.
Ultimate Move: Grim Checkup
George Cornwell
Age: 32
“With your brain and my knowledge, we are going to make a great team, I am sure of it!”
A criminologist who doesn’t work at the police station but runs into the gang many times throughout the story before getting wrapped up into the search for the Clown. He wants to talk to the Clown (not to a obsessive degree) and wants to understand why does he kill. He isn’t a part of the police but Granger and Maise let him in to talk to the team over the criminals they captured.
He is pretty wholesome and quite understanding to many people (sometimes criminals). When he discovers Harvard’s past after the game ends, he decides to take up the mantle of Harvard’s moral compass and gives him a therapist to help with hi: trauma. He shown to be protective to his loved ones, but not to point of overbearing.
“Hey, there’s been something in your chest for a little long time. You think that you keeping in it’s chest and refusing to let it out, but you’re wrong. If you don’t want to talk to me, that’s fine. But if you are not going talk about this to me and your team, you need to talk to somebody else.”
However his past is mysterious and he refuses to tell anyone not even his close friends about it. And it turns out he has a pretty good reason, but we’ll see later. He’ll explain it to Harvard near the end of the game
Ultimate move: Let me take a look in your mind.
Stanford Williams
Age: 24
“There’s a line between the ideal detective and the insane detective, and Harvard Marks you have crossed the line to insanity.”
He is a high ranking serious officer who is a deep rivalry against Harvard. He isn’t well liked due to his serious attitude towards most of the staff but he isn’t outright hated due to his contempence in the field. He has a hidden side to him, caring for his family and friends off the job and taking them to nice places to relax and have fun.
His father was a officer who WAS excellence in his job and WAS actually chosen to be the police chief instead of Granger. But, notice the emphasis on WAS. A few years (possibly in Stanford high school days), he was found dead in a murder similar to the Clown style. While it is now unknown if the Clown or a copycat of the Clown and the killer was never found, it still effected him and made wanted to hunt down other serial killers like them and bring them to justice so nobody would have to suffer what him and family did.
“The reason why we are looking for the Clown isn’t for revenge you fool, it’s for justice for those who were suffered in their hands!”
So you think with their history, him and Harvard would at least connect or be friends? WRONG. While Stanford views Harvard with great potential as a detective, he despises him for his willingness to break the rules in missions and cases and his wild insanity. While Harvard would have chosen a different career if his mother hadn’t died (unless the game discredits this), Stanford has wanted to be to become a detective ever since he was a child. With Harvard, he only met with him at police college for the 2 years he was in along with Carl and Stanford was at his last 2 years. Harvard found him annoying due to his overshadowing anybody in their class and overly aggressive attitude towards. (Funny thing is that one of the reasons why Stanford hates Harvard.) So when they both of them (and Carl) end up stuck in the same police station in the same city, none of them are pleased.
Ultimate Move: Sharps Slashes of Justice
So, here’s them all! What do you think of them? Which one is your favorite?

so, i guess i should probably talk about Bitter Medicine on this website, as i'm watching twitter burn down and my reach do its best impression of a shrinkydink. let me figure out how to get this book across...
Bitter Medicine stars:
Elle, a kind of (read: very) disorganized descendant of the Chinese god of medicine who is basically a wimpy Sailor Mars who'd rather do art all day but is forced to undersell her abilities to protect her big brother
an emotionally constipated French elf who is a secret softy but has to be Hard and Tough because reasons; also he is seventeen anxieties in a Savile Row suit
Tony, the very gay, very self-absorbed brother who is a main character cursed to be a side character in a book that's not actually about him (how could this be? why would i do this to Tony? he doesn't know)
It's got:
two people who definitely like each other but can't figure out how to say it because they're isolated and don't people that often
a different act structure than you're used to, most likely
at least three chili peppers, according to sources not me (these are open door scenes, folks)
creatures from world mythology! actually it's pretty heavy on non-Western mythology
a Men in Black, but with faeries vibe
Nirvana in Fire references, because of course
but also a La Haine reference because i could
a teenaged tanuki, a ghost-spirit hybrid, a Jersey Devil, and a disaster polycule in possession of a single brain cell
calligraphy magic! which I have been told is very cool and unique by someone who i never thought would say those words to me and now my entire life has been made
AND A VERY IMPORTANT AFTERWORD, PLEASE DON'T SKIP THAT, it's where i get more serious and talk about stuff like colonization
at least five dick jokes. the dick jokes are really important
okay... any questions?

If you ever need visuals/inspiration for the dancing prompts I am HERE.
Mihawk (tango):
You obviously are familiar with Mr & Mrs Smith and the ICONIC Morticia and Gomez dances. However, may I suggest;
"Cell Block Tango" - you know I had to include it.
"Shall we dance?" (2004) - so sensual and intimate. Poetry in motionm
"Take the Lead" - there's a tango in a detention centre with two people (which is what I was thinking of), but there's also a lovely sandwich tango (iykwim)
And my personal fave: the introducing the tango scene from the story of Vernon and Irene castle - and old movie, black and white, but my GOD the CHEMISTRY. The CUNT. The FLUIDITY. The subtle but adoring smiles and glances.
Luffy:
Ok the Bachata for Luffy is perfect and I don't want to change it but I would like to offer up for your viewing/imagining pleasure: La Cucaracha. Simple, sweet. Folk dance. Gives young love. Lots of Luffy vibes. Just imagining them dancing in a town square.
Otherwise, no notes. The song is amazing I can't wait.
Buggy (swing):
Songs wise:
Tangled up - Caro Emerald (specifically the Lokee remix)
Dancing with the devil - Elle & the pocket Belle's
And idk how swing they are necessarily but; I don't have a name for it by Steam Powered Giraffes, Gentlemen by OR3O (or even All eyes on me by OR3O, but that's less of a love song and more angsty), vending machine of love by the stupendium
Zoro (Capoeira):
I love this. When I heard(read) "dance series" I immediately knew a dance fight style would KILL. I never knew Capoeira before this so I have to thank you for introducing me because *chefs kiss* muah.
I couldn't find many Capoeira scenes in movies or shows, but from what I did see there's a lot of break-dance-esque leg action. So I gotta suggest the Eggsy vs Gazelle fight from Kingsmen. (Side note: the kingsmen movies are actually so camp).
If you don't know, Gazelle is an antagonist with prosthetic legs that are basically spears and she fights with a lot of slashes. The scene is beautiful. Lots of legs swinging, lots of fists flying, very lethal. Lots of physics defying and frankly reality bending moments that fit into the drama of anime fighting, specifically one piece.
Now idk where it would fit but I would kill myself if I didn't mention the Naacho Naacho dance scene (essentially a dance battle) in the movie RRR (seriously good movie, it is v long tho). It's an Indian movie set during the war of the English colonisation. One of the main characters has a crush on a white girl who invites him to a party, and his friend tags along for moral support. They use the power of friendship and dance to defeat a racist white guy who thinks that they're not sophisticated bc they don't even know how to dance any of his fancy dances (which aren't even english dances, by the way) by dancing a dance that gets everyone to join bc it's so fun, and they manage to continue dancing as everyone falls around them bc of the pace and stamina needed. If you watch none of the scenes I've suggested, please watch this one.
Honourable mentions;
Zendayas dance off in dancing with the stars (https://youtu.be/2Iw951fviP4?si=_Bj4Wav5pcpYyLIZ)
And it's not necessarily a romance song and the context is icky but the tempo and the cunt in 'Papi' by Todrick Hall and Nicole Scherzinger from 'Straight Outta Oz' (musical) is unmatched, and there's a music video with some dancing.
Oh my gosh, yes 😫. I love all of these things.
For the Mihawk Tango/Pasadoble; immediately my mind went:
-Zorro & Elena from The Mask of Zorro: Soooo enemies to lovers
-Mr & Mrs Smith, the drama and disaster: I love it
-AND!!!!! El Tango de Roxanne from Moulin Rogue: Need I say more? The DRAMA, The EMOTION, AHH.
-TAKE THE LEAD is where my brain went YES!!!!!! The dominant gentleman lead, the DRAMA I LOVE.
For the Luffy Bachata its a bit more tricky for me to find an appropriate reference for it because he's so PLAYFUL and less sensual than the way it.
-Mr & Mrs Smith has the Mondo Bongo scene that I think about quite regularly for references.
-I also am on the dance side of TikTok currently, these vids keep popping up and I adore them.
Now, for the Buggy Solo I'm having some conflicting thoughts. He deserves a soft little dancey dance, but I could also see it getting VERY ANGSTY very quickly.
My song choices are as follows:
-Sway by Mr Bubes himself.
-Express Burlesque by Christina Aguilera just screams Buggy to me.
-The improv style that Emeline brings to this dance off is just MENTAL, I love it. Like, soooo playful my brain can't process it.
ZORO is REALLY TRICKY.
However, my inner teenager went immediately here, to Aang and Katara's dance in the caves.
I will need to check out RRR again, it has been a hot minute.
Shanks as a Jig is superb: @sordidmusings has me in a chokehold with this suggestion and as a former Irish Dancer myself, I simply can't imagine anything more FUN than THIS. Like, as a violinist, this is going to be so much fun to write.
Hobbits dancing on a table, The Jolly Roving Tar is just immediately speaking to me. I could also see the circular jig from Disney's Tangled being incorporated with the entire crew.
The Buggy x Mihawk Sandwich is just writing itself at this stage, my brain rot is simply drawn to the dynamic and I can't even process it.
Masterlist Link for when they drop!

Liminal spaces in ep 6 of Heartstopper
As always, endless thanks to @barrows-teeth and @herewetumble for their insights and editing help and BT’s lovely gifs! Find the master post here.
Episode 6 starts with Nick googling “best lgbtq+ films'' on his phone just before his mum says “Mamma Mia.” Nick rejects this suggestion and his mom leaves the room to dish up pizza. Nick is still looking at the list on his phone, snuggled next to Nellie, when Sarah Nelson comes back and suggests “Pirates of the Caribbean.” Nick looks like he wants to say something else, but just says “yeah.”
As they watch the movie, Sarah comments that they had to watch the movie every evening when Nick was 11 and she knew it was because he liked Kiera Knightly. Nick resists “Mum!” “What, she’s a very pretty girl.” “Please stop talking!” They turn to watch the movie and we can see Nick struggling with the recognition that he is attracted to Kiera Knightly as well as Orlando Bloom. (Many have commented on how relatable this scene is for their bisexual awakenings occurred similarly.)
Tumblr media
We have seen how comfortable Nick is in his kitchen with his mum and I think the living room is an extension of that space. He’s not ready to come out to his mum yet, but he’s more able to fully consider who he is.
Back in the fuller privacy of his room, he listens to the bisexual vlogger and seems to start coming to terms with his own sexual identity.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, the girls are having lunch in the canteen. Darcy quips “this is an interesting lunchtime gathering we’ve got going on here” as Tara and Elle both poke at their phones. Tara has just posted about her relationship with Darcy on Instagram and is getting mixed reactions, so she is happy for the distraction Darcy provides when she asks what Elle’s up to (looking at Timothee Chalamet’s Instagram? :)). Tara says “probably texting Tao” and they coax out of her that she does have a crush on Tao. “I knew it,” squeaks Tara. It is clear Elle has settled in and found her place with Tara and Darcy—a stark contrast to the day she walked in and the door closed behind her, leaving us all with an instant of panic — was she trapped in a lonely hell?
Tumblr media
We have another scene of Charlie and Tao interacting with Harry outside school near the picnic tables which goes according to toxic masculinist ideas of heteronormativity. “Watch out Dicknozzle,” Harry spouts. Tao retorts, “if you want my attention that badly, why don’t you just throw something at me, like your last remaining brain cell.” Harry is left speechless and on his own turf, at that.
They walk past Nick and Imogen sitting on one of the tables. Tao gives Nick a disgusted look. Nick looks at Charlie like he feels sorry about something.
Tara is sitting in an instrument room, flipping through mixed comments on Instagram again. Darcy joins her and Tara warns her to “mind the door, that’s the one that locks you in if you let it shut.” Darcy reminisces that this is “the room...the special room, [they] got locked in and had [their] first kiss.” I love the fact that their first kiss was literally in a locked closet, before Tara was out. The orchestra teacher finds them and chastises them for being late for rehearsal. They remark she’s literally the only one in a 50 mile radius who doesn’t know they are together. So, maybe part of that closet still remains (and reminds us that we are always coming out).
Tumblr media
In the orchestra room, one girl says to Tara “I never would have guessed you were gay, but it’s so cool and brave of you” and a few minutes later, in the background, we hear girls responding with disgust to Darcy’s comment about same-sex schools being a waste from her perspective “as an absolute lesbian.” Where the closet was a safe space for the girls, the open classroom is not.
Nick and Charlie are lying on a blanket in the park and Nick says “How did you realize you were gay?” This is the first time we’ve seen Nick talk to someone about being queer. He’s been researching the topic in the privacy of his own bedroom (and obviously kissing Charlie in secluded locations) but this is the first time the topic has been raised in a more public environment. Charlie is secure with his identity (“It’s always been boys”) but Nick makes faces and Charlie guesses Nick “didn’t feel the same when he was little.”
Tumblr media
This is reminiscent of the park with Imogen, when Nick was saying he had buried his real self and he was trying to figure out where he fit. Now, he says again “I don’t know what [sexuality] I am.” But with Charlie, he can be more clear about the topic and the open air reinforces our impression that Nick is becoming more comfortable with sharing his full self. Charlie even says that Nick doesn’t have to figure it out right now and that even he didn’t wake up one day and say “oh, look, guess I’m gay now.”  Society informs who we are. We aren’t defining ourselves in a vacuum. But when a couple walks by with a dog as they are about to kiss, Nick sits up suddenly, breaking it off. He is not ready.
Nick accompanies Charlie into the gym for rehearsal and asks if he can attend the performance. Charlie moves away to get his drum kit set up and Tara walks up, taking Charlie’s position on the floor. They make a little small talk and then Nick tells Tara that he and Charlie are sort of “going out, but please don’t tell anyone.” Tara says “It’s funny how things turned out between us,” referring to the kiss they shared 3 years ago and they both agree that irony is not lost on them.
Nick asks if the girls are out to their friends, and Tara talks about posting it on Instagram.
Nick is clearly grappling with how much of himself and his relationship with Charlie he is comfortable putting out there. I think it’s interesting that the conversation is happening in the school gym, a location typically known for heteronormative relationships in sports.
Tumblr media
Nick takes Tara up on her invitation to join her and Darcy for lunch on the field. On the other side of the fence, we hear Harry bullying Tao: “Not having lunch with your boyfriend?”  Meanwhile, enclosed in their own private bubble, Nick shares “I’m not really out, yet” and “I don’t even know what my sexuality is” while chatting with them. Darcy and Tara accept him for who he is, regardless of labels. Again, it’s interesting that this is happening on a sport field, another spot typical for reinforcing heteronormativity. Darcy suggests a double date and Nick agrees, saying, “I like milkshakes.”
Tumblr media
In front of the door to the orchestra room, Darcy encourages Nick not to come out if he’s not ready. Nick asks Tara if she’s sure she’s gay or if she might be bi. Tara says kissing Nick was one of the things that convinced her she didn’t like kissing boys. As they stand outside in front of an open door, Nick reveals they are the first people he’s told about Charlie. Nick is starting to open his own door and come out a little bit more. Tara asks him if it feels good. He smiles. “Yeah, it really does.” AND WE ALL MELT.
Tumblr media
Charlie is on his bed, lit up by the sun, waiting for Nick to come ‘round. Tori appears in the doorway and seems to know what’s up, even though Charlie can’t admit anything to her. On the floor, the boys are studying and Nick lets Charlie know that he has told Tara and Darcy that they are dating. Charlie’s bedroom has changed for Nick from a space of confusion to refuge to safety.
Tumblr media
As Nick leaves, he tells Charlie about the proposed milkshake date and Charlie eagerly agrees. Nick opens the door, leaving it for Charlie to close. He looks back and waves goodbye before turning around and walking away. This time, there is just nice, bright sunlight as the door stays open.
First to appear at the milkshake cafe are Tao and Elle. They are being their silly authentic selves out in the fresh air, but not at all open about their feelings for each other. And neither knows about Nick and Charlie, yet. The six friends sit under a tent and chat while having their milkshakes. Tao suggests having a second round. Nick and Charlie leave first to get the shakes. Charlie asks Nick out on a proper date (sometime) and immediately takes it back. It is as if the fresh air has pumped up Charlie’s courage for a split second. Luckily, he is with Nick, who thinks it’s a lovely idea.
When Tao goes to help get the second round, Elle finds out her friends have been plotting without her consent to try to set her and Tao up. She is upset about this because she doesn’t want anything else to change. Nick and Charlie return to the table while Tao waits for the last two and Elle finds out that Nick and Charlie are together. It is worth noting that they are under the tent (the relationship is still a secret to all but these five) while Tao is out in “dark,” alone.
Tumblr media
In the gym, Nick sits with Charlie at his drum kit. They are bathed in a beam of light. Nick says he’s been researching bisexuality and he thinks that might be him. Does Charlie’s drum kit have a protective force field around it? Maybe so.
Meanwhile, Tara has run out of the room to escape the persistent homophobia surrounding her. She retreats to the secret (make out) instrument closet and Darcy follows, forgetting to leave the door open. Tara didn’t realize how differently she’d be treated after she came out and “just wants to live her life.” Darcy insists they can do that. In the meantime, Nick, Charlie, Elle, and Tao have been running from door to door looking for them.
As they all run back to the concert, Tara and Darcy hold hands. Nick reaches out for Charlie’s hand and Charlie grabs it just as they pass a brightly lit window. Elle follows, waving encouragingly at Tao who lags behind. Tara and Darcy are leading the way, modeling one way of being out, and Nick and Charlie are following in their footsteps.

Mature PA Fashion Archetypes: The Lawyer
As I'm sure you realise, I don't actually have any brain cells, it's just a tiny Reese Witherspoon in there pushing buttons. There's a fire in the backroom but itspink too, so Tiny Reese hasn't realised yet... anyway...
The Lawyer is inspired by Elle (did I even need to say that?) as well as the ladies of Suits, and my one trule love, Lana Parilla as The Evil Queen in Once Upon a Time. The Lawyer is ready for the office in a power suit and a pair of shoes that make NOISE as she struts like she means it.
Essentials
blazers- one in your favourite colour, and some neutrals such as black, white, grey, or tan, and maybe add a pattern or something to shake up the silhouette
suit trousers- the specific style should be personal preference, and the colours should depend on your blazers. You can pair anything with black, so start there.
good skirts- usually a pencil skirt, use the same thought process as with the trousers.
blouses- to me, you can absolutely build from simple white dress shirts, the kind of which you might still have from school where I’m from. You can often get them in packs of at least two cheaply enough from the men’s section. Personally, I’m a big fan of a puffy sleeve, a bow, or a dramatic collar. Women’s shirts tend to have a lot more variety, but do keep in mind they tend to be poorer quality material.
Shoes that make NOISE- it soesn’t matter the height of the heel, it doesn’t matter the width, it just matters that, when you come down the corridor, you announce your presence.
Accesories- be it a briefcase or gaudy earrings, I feel like over-the-top will add to your empire of leadership.
Options
Waistcoats- with a blazer or instead of, depending on the look. If you like a masculine cut, you can always, always, always find these in the men’s section of a charity shop. Women’s cuts tend to be harder to find in my experience, however
Knitwear- you guys know how this goes- a jumper, cardigan or sweatervest will add to your look. With jumpers, you can do a v-neck collar to expose a tie or necklace.
A statement at the collar: eg a tie, a brooch, a BIG pearl necklace
Legwear- tights are absolutely the go-to under a skirt in a professional environment, but they are under-rated in adding to an outfit- a subtle pattern can add a bit of drama. Elle Woods has a lovely pair that tragically get run over by Callahan’s disgusting touch… but they were cute before that. You can do a subtle pattern match eg a polka-dot blouse matched with polka-dot tights.

Recipe for a perfect wife, by Karma Brown
Tumblr media
When Alice Hale leaves a career in publicity to become a writer and follows her husband to the New York suburbs, she is unaccustomed to filling her days alone in a big, empty house. But when she finds a vintage cookbook buried in a box in the old home’s basement, she becomes captivated by the cookbook’s previous owner–1950s housewife Nellie Murdoch. As Alice cooks her way through the past, she realizes that within the cookbook’s pages Nellie left clues about her life–including a mysterious series of unsent letters penned to her mother. Soon Alice learns that while baked Alaska and meatloaf five ways may seem harmless, Nellie’s secrets may have been anything but. When Alice uncovers a more sinister–even dangerous–side to Nellie’s marriage, and has become increasingly dissatisfied with the mounting pressures in her own relationship, she begins to take control of her life and protect herself with a few secrets of her own.
I thought this book was going take the "the house is haunted by the spirit of the 50's housewife" or even the "the house is alive" route because of some elements at the beginning but uh, they end up not mattering at all? So that was weird
It was an interesting read, but I didn't like Alice's character/story nearly as much as Nellie's. I didn't understand some of her actions and decisions, thought some were stupid. The parts I liked best about Alice's chapters were when Nellie was mentioned. I kinda wish it was more like The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, in the way that Monique wasn't a big part of the story as a whole but she still had her stakes in it. I did like that, when Alice read Nellie's letters, you can tell there was more to what she was writing
Also, Nellie's chapters had my brain playing Paris Paloma's Labour on loop, it really fits the vibes. It also reminded me of the show Why Women Kill (at least the first season), which I loved. So if anyone has recs for similar book, please please please tell me, I'm desperate

Hey, I wrote a thing. It's an original work. If anyone has a better site to publish original works on, could you please tell me?
anyways here have the prologue:
Summary:
Dear diary, I was just living my life in a school for emotionally troubled girls, when, all of a sudden, I get kidnapped and find out I have to overthrow the most annoying God of them all. Now my life is falling apart and the only way to get myself to not go crazy is to write everything down. - Elle
Prologue I was standing in total darkness. Around my ankles I could feel the rippling of a lake. The water was so cold it burned my feet. I couldn’t hear a thing: no wind, no birds, no voices. I couldn’t even hear the slow flowing of the water, which concerned me the most. Yet it still felt comforting. I wanted to walk out of this void, but my feet felt so numb from the cold, that I couldn’t move them. I felt someone stroking my hair: “Oh honey, they really took a toll on you, didn’t they?” The voice was warm and smooth against the cold silence. It was just as always. The person in front of me put their arms around me. It was only when I felt the warmth sink into my body that I realized I was shivering. They tightened their embrace. Every single cell in my body told me to run away, but the pressure felt good. So, I stayed. I felt a sob crawling up my throat. I tried to swallow it back down. “It’s okay, let it go”, they said as if reading my thoughts. As usually I observed. I let the sob go. I felt tears streaming down my cheeks. Soon my knees buckled and I knelt there, in the water, in front of an unknown force sobbing my heart out. My vision cleared. I was sitting in a cavern dimly illuminated by colorful crystals hanging from the ceiling. The whole floor of the cavern was covered in an ankle-deep layer of water. As I looked down, I was shocked to discover my arms were covered in bloody scrapes. If I didn’t know anatomy so well, I wouldn’t have recognized my ankles to be ankles. They were a mess of blood and open wounds. It never had been that bad. In front of me stood a young girl, no older than 12, gently stroking my hair. “It’s all right” she said. And I believed her. I had done this at least a million times before, but today was different. She seemed sadder than usual, my wounds got worse, the crystals didn’t glow as brightly as they had yesterday and worst of all the void lasted longer from day to day. I wanted to talk about all those things, but my brain was to clogged up whit all the sobs I had suppressed since last time. So instead, I just buried my face deeper in her shoulder. Then my vision went black.

Tell me more about fugito-svenska 👀
Okay, so this is my original Urban Fantasy novel, which is like 80% complete. The file is called fugito-svenska (fugito-swedish) because I do have a lazy English version too. God, how do I pitch this...
Eleonora Folkungadotter (Elle) is one of the few people in the world who knows that magic is real. Her family is a part of a European organization called Domus, and their task is to protect humanity against mages. While her brother was raised to one day take over as the Swedish leader after their father, Elle knows she's nothing but a pawn in the wealthy families constant struggle for power. Her only purpose is to smile and look pretty.
On her 21st birthday, her brother goes against their father's wishes and reveals the true family secret to her: what they actually do to protect humanity. As it turns out, it's imprisonment. Her brother proudly tells her that the powers of the oh-so dangerous mages are now being harnessed for various purposes, but Elle can't share his excitement. At all. She's appalled, because when she looks at those cells, all she can see is humans. They're mages, but they look just like her.
(This might be the time to mention that Elle is not completely normal either. She's refused to acknowledge it to herself, but there are certain things she can do that's a little an orthodox. If she wants out of a situation badly enough, she can go to a door, focus on Anywhere but here, anywhere but here, anywhere but here, the door will open up somewhere else; most of the time at Gustavianum, her favorite museum. According to Domus, her power would make her a Fugito (Latin for I flee), and that's why it's the name of the book. Elle starts out as a really selfish and self-centered person, and her power kind of matches that.) Her brother's unexpected decision to show her the prison also has unexpected consequences. Since pretty much everyone was supposed to be at her birthday banquet, Amir Al-Yasiri, the Folkung family's head of security, chose this particular moment to do a prison break. Amir's brother was taken in by the Folkungs several years ago, and he's been plotting ever since. He did not expect the Folkung kids to be there. Things get complicated after this, but Elle ends up getting swept along in this prison break, and since she really really really wants to get out of that mess, she manages to open a door-portal and save a gang of mages. So, that's the set up for the slowly unfolding found family story. She's a Folkungadotter, an enemy of all mages, but she's also a mage herself. She knows too much about the mages' plan to destroy Domus, but they're not comfortable with killing her either, so they decide that they're simply going to have to drag her into their heist (yes, there's rules to the magic, there are ways to stop her from door-portaling her away). Theeeen we have Amir, who feels responsible for her being trapped with the mages (his brain operates like, his plan = his fault if it fails, no matter the circumstances). Long story short: he did a lot of shit that he's not proud of to get the job he needed to save his brother, but he doesn't want to be that person anymore. He wants to be the kind of person who keeps promises and fixes his mistakes. He hates the Folkungs and thinks Elle a brat, but he will get her back to her family. (Yeah, he fails pretty hard at this.) The general story from here is probably pretty obvious. Elle feels a sense of belonging that she's never experienced as Eleonora. She sees the mages as people, and accept that she's a mage too. She does love her family though, so... complicated. And we obviously have a slow burn romance between her and Amir. It's the bodyguard trope. Mood boards, yay!

Hi, I’m Elle, and welcome to callsignspark! I created this blog because Top Gun Maverick has consumed all of my brain cells since I first saw it in May 2022 (and there’s no sign of it letting go). See below for a few housekeeping rules.
This is an 18+ space, no ageless or blank blogs. You will be blocked.
I do my best to tag everything but for ease: all art/graphics/etc. can be found under #fan art, fics can be found under #CSS fic rec, and all characters will be tagged under their full name (and call sign if applicable).
Because of Top Gun, I’m also in love with several other characters that the young pilots have played (especially those of Lewis Pullman) so there will be some overlap!
One last note: this is a side blog, so all likes and follows will come from my main @dissonnance. Feel free to come hang out over there to witness me lose my mind over hockey, baseball, and other things!

Week 4 - Maryvette
I think that The Last of Us depicts an example of a failed sacrifice.
A brief summary: there’s this infected plague (zombies) and Ellie is most likely the only one immune to this miasma. Joel is sent to deliver Ellie to the Fireflies to bring a vaccine that could cure mankind from this violence/miasma/contagion - to stop the never-ending cycle of violence.
However, in order to restore balance and save society from this zombie-like infection violence spree, the Fireflies would have to kill Ellie and extract the cells in her brain that makes her immune to infection.
The purpose of Ellie’s sacrifice comes from a desperation to end the plague, and from this desperation births a violent impulse, perhaps an indifference to the victim’s death, which is then displaced and the cycle of violence within the community would be resolved.
What makes Elle a suitable victim/scapegoat, according to Girard, was her adolescence and her dissociation with the Firefly community. Ellie is detached as she plays no role in that society or any society because all her friends and family are dead, thus she has no social link to any community.
Conversely, as the game progresses, Joel is unable to sacrifice Elle because she had grown into him. He almost considers her as his own daughter, therefore could not proceed with the sacrifice. Elle becomes a part of his community thus violence could not be displaced. The sacrifice becomes murder as he would have sought vengeance for her death. (FYI, he saves her from the sacrifice)
It is also important to note that Joel, too, was initially indifferent to Elle when he agreed to bring her to the Fireflies. However, it is unclear whether or not he would have agreed to her sacrifice in the beginning of the game, before they grew a connection, had he known Ellie would have died.
How the intended sacrifice fails and becomes murder happens when Elle and Joel gradually become bonded as each other’s “champion” and the act starts to invoke reprisal, hence when Joel kills the Fireflies and disrupt the sacrificial act to save Ellie.
Interestingly enough, the consequences of this failed sacrificial act transforming into murder further proves Girard’s theory as it then incites a cycle of vengeance. The doctor who Joel murders is sought vengeance by his daughter Abby and the whole Firefly community. Joel is then murdered. Elllie seeks vengeance for Joel by killing the Fireflies and hunts down Abby. Abby sees that her mates are killed, and so she kills Ellie’s. That’s quite literally the whole plot of TLOU 2.
There are obvious fallacies with this parallel. This sacrificial act is methodical and scientific. I don’t know if that evades the whole purpose of a sacrifice.
*Sorry for the whole essay. I'm obsessed with The Last of Us

What are we going to eat? Time.
9.6 Notes: “What are we going to eat? Time”
UwU is awaiting her death and writing her will. *Disclaimer: We do not endorse stalking and/or attempted murder for marriage advice.* Hightower is making intense, probably not good eye contact with UwU. Woodrow is waiting for the results of the interrogation. Elle leans over to UwU and asks her to use Telepathy to get the juicy info from the Captain. He looks over with a pensive look and Elle reads it as “What the fuck? She can do that”? The Captain finished talking and came over to ask if we wanted to sit in. Elle mentions that we should probably get the details for a “criminal” we might have “extorted”. The Captain disapproves and says to just sit around while he gets all the information. What a son of a bitch. He says try not to knock down any doors and Elle says she didn't..but the others did. The door was definitely broken. Woodrow says we are always right and perfect. (He really said we were in the right and we didnt do anything wrong). UwU says how Hightower is giving her weird looks and the Captain just shuts the door to make sure he doesnt here. She knows that he knows that she knows that he knows. He just asks “What”? UwU is defending our decision and the fact he is giving her a real nasty work. The Captain sends us off to try not and get in trouble. There are absolutely no promises made.
We head to brunch and Woodrow asks UwU why she was doing what she is doing. She was there for the flask and went back to ask him about it but he asked her to do something. Thats the whole Michela business. She has the flask now though. UwU has found love and might die but what can ya do? Woodrow says to stick around but Elle says we are a danger to ourselves and everyone around us. We are not efficient whatsoever. We have to go get brunch and then try and stay out of trouble. Melody agrees we should do the opposite of that and cause chaos. TIme is made up so we cant decide what to have for brunch. We have finally decided on breakfast pizza. Woodrow is thinking about something on the tip of his brain that he is forgetting. He is really stuck on what he is missing. Charlie is still here and not dead. Woodrow brings up his brother that we all forgot. “How do you forget family”? Mogo asks, appalled, reminding him of a play about a race between carts and a gang turned family. Woodrow is remembering something about an illusion magic when we were near the interrogation rooms at the Capital. Woodrow cannot remember so Elle decides to help. She misses her first hit but then uppercuts him to jog his memory. He remembers the hole but its not important enough. He tries really hard and remembers the spell from something he has seen alot. He is able to do the spell, it is a disguise self. Charlie instigated it to help restart his memory again. Elle winds up her fist for another memory uppercut. Elle winds up and hits him again. Woodrow is still having a fuzzy memory. Woodrow chops Elle on the head, how rude. We are asking Charlie to see if he has any skills to jog his memory. Dream Walking is a thing but none of us have it at the moment.
We head back to the Capital building, to the holding cells. His back is faced towards us so Woodrow casts Detect Magic to see if we can find the illusion. The Captain turns and sees us. Hes giving us a “Dont do anything look”. Elle starts waving enthusiastically. Hightower is apologizing for any “misunderstandings”. UwU starts telepathy to him and tells him how it is. “Youre a dumb fucking bitch, Im going to fuckinnn-”. Melody can tell he is trying to ruffle us up. Hes a little bastard. He gives her a knowing look, very challenging. What a stupid bitch. The
Captain takes us to timeout, he says we need to talk. He is telling us how Hightower is a good tax paying citizen who does own a legitimate business. They are looking into the booby traps but those are only fines. He says he gets a shady feeling but he is stuck between a rock and hard place. Elle said we were obviously qualified with our city worker patches. He says did we even know the booby traps were there? Elle responds with Fuck you. Woodrow tells Elle through Psychic Whispers that he did mention telling the Captain beforehand but she refused it because we cant always rely on him. Elle says out loud that she needs to be an independent woman and she needs supported with her needs. Her needs being one to protect the city and if someone has to do it, goddamn she will. He looks at her exhausted and just says to let him or someone know before we do something like this.
Woodrow starts sensing magic approaching him and notices it is illusion magic. He notices it on the two cat folk that we captured the other day. The illusion of magic is coming from the guard. Woodrow points it out to the Captain. The guard is facing the prisoners and wasn't supposed to be moving the prisoner. The Captain heads up and starts talking to him, he seems to be irritated. Woodrow asks Mogo if he can dispel magic. He can so Elle puts Psychic Whispers on Charlie, the Captain, and Woodrow. The Captain tells him to go for it. Mogo casts it as the Captain steps back. The illusion of the guard drops. He is a mid height thinly built jet black Tabaxi with yellow eyes. He realizes we can see her. It is the first one of the Tabaxi that escaped from the trio. Oh shit.
Mogo is up and banishing the Black Tabaxi ahead of them. She counterspells it right before it hits as it fizzles out. Mogo shouts “Do we have to do this the hard way? Id rather not”. Mogo is saying to not be mean to the pretty kitty but the Captain pulls out his sword. He aims for the Tabaxi women and takes a mean ass couple of swings. One of them does break out during this encounter. The bigger Tabaxi man takes a few swipes at him and hits. Melody casts and is able to a hit one of them. UwU casts and is also able to hit. Elle gets two hits on the Tabaxi woman and Elle hits her with the Feyblade for a Critical Hit. It creates necrotic damage. My right hand starts throbbing with neurotic damage to myself, the same place where she lost my hand a couple of months ago. Woodrow comes up next to Elle and readies his gun. He hits. He tells them to stand down because they have nowhere to go. Mogo hits him and now the Monk is out of the running and banished. Melody is casting Spirit Guardians. It causes some good damage to them all. One of them downs a liquid of some kind. She takes a shot at Melody and it almost fucking bodied her. Melody goes to counterspell and is able to stop it, luckily. Charlie raises up his hand to cast disintegrate. He sent it and disintegrated the Tabaxi women. She is now out forever. The last one standing raises his hands and surrenders after Woodrow tells him he probably should. The other one pops back in and surrenders also.
UwU tells the Captain that Hightower hired her to capture those three cat folk. Woodrow realizes that the other dead Tabaxi is just an illusion and she is still alive. The Captain yells out to begin building Lockdown. UwU is using Detect Thoughts on the prisoners and Melody is using Dominate Person on them also. Melody is able to complete the spell and dominated the Lionan. He becomes docile and she asks him what the fuck is going on. He is grunting but no words are coming out. UwU probes his mind and he is being told to not speak to us. He is saying he
cannot resist the spell. He is having a conversation with the other missing Tabaxi and not to say anything. She is calling us dumb, thats a bitch move. There is another voice in his head and he can hear his other accomplice too. UwU spans her reach to see if the missing Tabaxi is nearby. She can only pay attention to everyone else doing their own stuff. Since Melody dominated, she
can also hear the thoughts in his head. She demands he tell her what is happening and where the other missing person is. He is saying the missing Tabaxi (Yashmir) is smarter than all of us. He doesn't know where she is though, he cant see her. UwU tries again but cannot focus. Woodrow asks Charlie if he can scry. Woodrow psychic whispers if I am able to teleport and get Romstano’s scry. We need something of Yashmir’s to do that. She is hearing the small Tabaxi in his head that he isnt feeling good. UwU tries again away from everyone else but there isn’t much she is able to do. She isnt practiced in it. Elle decides to teleport and test the connection theory out. Melody becomes a mouse and hides in her pocket. We take the Lionen to Camaya at the shore we first crashed. Woodrow went to help the Captain lock down the building but he comes back to ask what the hell just happened. The other small Tabaxi is in the jail cell.
Left at the Capital is Mogo, Woodrow, UwU, and Charlie. The Captain is still locking down the building. Charlie ritual casts Detect Magic but it is only this one time. He can tell she used invocation and then illusion. We saw her get disingerted and saw that her death was an illusion, Charlie figured it out she did it. She casted Contingency on herself. She did so when the kill shot came, Illusion appeared to help save her. They start investigating and see some blood on the ground. Woodrow puts some in a flask. Mogo couldnt find anything but is offering a fire wall for some razzle dazzle. “One day there will be fire. Will today be the day”? Woodrow in the background, “Hold that thought”. Some more blood hunting using Detect Magic and went upstairs. The Captain has joined them. Charlie tottles into the crowd and starts yelling for the group then starts bleating like a goat. An old man shocks Charlie and goes to teleport away. UwU goes to tackle the old man and leaps but she gets caught up in the teleport. UwU fucks his everything up.
