For those who haven't read The Witcher, I feel the need to tell you some things...

Ciri was something around 10, I think, when she met Geralt, and was a terrible brat.

One of the first times Geralt met Ciri, he gave her a piggy back ride because she hurt her leg.

He told her a bed time story because she asked him to.

Geralt is a sarcastic bastard, especially with Ciri.

Ciri led Geralt by the hand when he had to be blindfolded while walking through Brokilon forest by the Dryads.

Ciri would cling to Geralt's thigh when she was frightened.

Geralt would cuddle Ciri so that she could fall asleep, and she would reach out to him as she slept.

There were hugs, and I think all of them were initiated by Geralt himself because he could see that Ciri was frightened or he was just very happy to see her.

Joel’s Decision

Okay, but I need to rant a bit about Joel’s decision in the hospital. Spoilers Ahead.

So obviously it is difficult to condone or condemn him for his decision, we all know this. But going strictly from the TV series, I can’t see how Joel would have known for certain that she would have been willing to die to create the cure, making Marline’s statement “She would want this and you know it” to be invalid. The ENTIRE show, she never once talked about being willing to die for this. Even when she said, “There’s no halfway with this” she also said, “When we are done we’ll go wherever you want.”

Ellie planned to live. Joel knew she wanted to live. She had plans for the future. So no, I don’t think Joel knew what decision she would make, and Marline was making assumptions about a girl she knew basically nothing about. In the series, Ellie didn’t even know who Marline was until she was chained up, and didn’t even know she knew her mom until then. Not really a great start to a friendship or for building trust.

Ellie wasn’t given a choice. Marline didn’t give her one, and that was all Joel knew. Yes, Ellie might have made the decision to die, but Joel had never seen a moment where she didn’t fight to live. In addition, as a suicide survivor, he knew it wasn’t as easy as Ellie saying she wanted to make a cure. Or them traveling across the US for it. She could flinch. She didn’t know she would die, so she didn’t have the opportunity to.

They wouldn’t even let him see her to make sure she wanted this. To ask her, to say goodbye. For all he knew, Ellie could have went out screaming and kicking. As a man who used to be a raider, a bad person, as someone who had been on both sides, he would most certainly doubt almost anything they said.

Anyway, my point is.... Joel didn’t know what Ellie’s decision would have been, and he knew that. And afterward, as a father, he would protect her, even from herself.

My high school director is considering doing Pirates of Penzance for next year, so naturally I'm already thinking about auditions! Do you think it's necessary to use a Gilbert and Sullivan piece, or would it be appropriate to use a different song, one I'm more comfortable with?

It’s not necessary at all! A lot of people would stick with a G&S piece so they may all be done at the auditions. As long as the song you’re singing is in the style of the show and fits your voice.

Announcement!!!

Hello, everyone...

After a long while of contemplation, I've decided I am going to move forward with deleting my Tumblr. It has been a very long journey, and this place has helped me So Much. I've found a lot of my sanity here reading everyone's fanfiction and the community just being so very supportive. You all have been an amazing part of my recovery through depression, and I've loved spending time with y'all and interacting with everyone.

Thank you all for being here with me and letting me geek out over stupid stuff 🤣

I will be deleting all Tumblr accounts on April 30th, 2024.

Reading The Witcher Part ∞

The Witcher Book 3, or Saga Book 1: Blood of Elves:

Ciri has consistent nightmares of the Fall of Cintra, and Geralt is there frequently to reassure her. She only believes these reassuances because it was coming from Geralt, and ones from other people don't seem to have the same calming effect.

She also falls asleep holding Geralt's hand after a nightmare.

Yennefer does, in fact, save Dandelion from Rience after he is captured for singing a song about Ciri and Geralt. She saves him because Dandelion was always there for Geralt, when she, in all her unstable assery, was not.

Also, apparently Yennefer is the reason Geralt can eat chicken with a knife and fork skillfully.

Yennefer went blind for a time after the Battle of Sodden Hill.

Also, Back in Book 2, there were 14 wizards dead at the Battle for Sodden, and Yennefer's name was not amongst them. Though, when Geralt climbed the Hill to read the names of all who died, believed Yenn was among them. He read down 13 names, but could not bear to read number 14. He was so frightened of it, that he literally saw death, and asked her to take him by the hand, because she had taken everything from him: Ciri, who he believed was dead, and Yenn. He was tired and broken. Death assured him that his time would come one day, but not yet. And leaving the Hill, still unable to read the name, asked for Yurga, a man tending to his wounds, to tell him all the names of those wizards who died. I believe it is implied that his eyes teared up when he discovered that Yennefer was not amongst the dead.
