I always have loved the whole, “I must leave my training to save my friends” trope.

smthing smthing the parallels between stranger things season 4 and star wars: the empire strikes back... el as luke... mike as han solo... will as leia...
luke is off training to master his powers whilst his friends are sort of stranded,,, han and leia grow closer and have an implied growing romance,,, luke leaves his training early cuz he fears his friends are in danger and are walking into a trap,,, its revealed later on that leia also has the same abilities as luke,,,
does any of this sound familiar... 🤨

The fact that Eleven is numbered 011 and not just 11 states that Dr. Brenner was willing to have atleast a 100 children

Actually I think Hopper should get to beat the shit out of Dr. Brenner. As a treat.

Mike and Brenner are not parallels of each other; they are antithetical. Yes, you’re meant to compare them, but only to see how different they are, especially in their treatment of El.
Brenner: Imprisons her in a lab from the moment she’s born.
Mike: Offers her the choice of returning to her place of origin, which she declines in favor of staying with him.
Brenner: Forces her to use her powers at his discretion, and punishes her when she refuses.
Mike: Asks for her help, but understands when a task is too difficult or she’s too fatigued.
Brenner: Intentionally keeps her in the dark about his true intentions, so that she’s less likely to protest.
Mike: Works through the mysteries together, so that she can decide how and when to use her powers based on the given circumstances.
Brenner: Parades her around in front of his colleagues like she’s a weapon.
Mike: Scolds anyone who tries to use her powers for selfish reasons (Dustin with the Millenium Falcon, Max with the spying).
Brenner: You will need to fly. (Implying she currently isn’t able to do so).
Mike: You can fly. (Speaks for itself).
I could go on, but I think I’ve made my point. Throughout the show, we see Brenner and Mike presented with similar situations regarding El, and each time Brenner makes the bad choice, and Mike makes the good choice. I understand why people compare them, but we’re meant to see that Mike is a far better person than Brenner.
They 👏🏻 are 👏🏻 not 👏🏻 the 👏🏻 same.
