Summary
After touching hands with Kylo Ren through the Force bond, Rey goes to him on the Supremacy in an attempt to turn him to the Light Side of the Force. She is instead captured, and on the way to Snoke’s Throne Room, the turbolift they are on gets stuck...
Excerpt
Kylo stopped at a lone turbolift ringed by stormtroopers and dismissed the guards.
The doors shut and left Rey alone with him. He was still contemplating the lightsaber in his hands.
She nodded upward. “Snoke? You don’t have to do this.”
“I do," he replied, staring straight ahead—not looking at her.
“I feel the conflict in you growing since you killed Han,” Rey said. “It’s tearing you apart.”
“Is that why you came?" he grumbled. "To tell me about my conflict?”
There they were again, his usual tactics—deflection and derision. As if he were the master and she was his student, to be kept at bay and off balance by questions.
But things had changed. She wasn’t the young woman he’d kidnapped on Takodana or confronted on Starkiller Base. Not anymore.
“No,” Rey said firmly. “Look at me. Ben.”
He turned at the sound of the name he’d been born with, the one he’d abandoned. He looked lost.
Rey decided to find him. By any means necessary. She approached him gingerly and batted her eyes, giving him her best come-hither look— not that she had much practice on Jakku.
“When we touched I saw your future,” she told him. “Just the shape of it, but solid and clear. You will not bow before Snoke. You will turn—I’ll help you.”
She watched the emotions chase themselves across his face, echoed by jitters and spikes in the Force. Anger. Confusion. Pain. Loneliness. Longing. Sorrow.
Then he lifted his eyes to hers.
He was about to say something when lights flickered and the usually silent and smooth turbolift suddenly lurched to a shuddering stop. Concerned, Kylo pressed a few buttons on the control panel. Nothing. Frustrated, he punched the panel hard with his fist. With a start, he realized that his temper was probably the reason why the turbolift was damaged in the first place: he had destroyed his helmet by smashing it into its very walls. He'd probably permantly shorted out a few circuits in the process, even after repair work was done on it afterwards.
"Damn it," Kylo grumbled. "I'll have to get a technician here to fix the circ—"
Kylo trailed off as Rey sidled even closer to him, and he let in a sharp intake of breath as he felt her cuffed hands rummage under his tunic to paw at his crotch.
"Please..." she murmured demurely. "Let me help you."

I read Fat Face by Michael Shea last month and it was. Fine? It was a Cthulhu Mythos story written in the 80s, it was very edgy and it had a lot of tropes I’m not a fan of, I don’t really recommend it, but I have to talk about one detail I have not stopped thinking about since I read it.
So. I knew Fat Face through reputation because it was the story that inspired Shoggoth Lords from the Call of Cthulhu TTRPG, shoggoths that can control their cellular makeup to look like humans. And the twist in Fat Face is that shoggoths have been hiding amongst humans in Los Angeles, and at the end of the story one of them eats the protagonist.
The tone of the story is grit. It’s grime. It’s sleaze and sexual violence and drug abuse on top of cosmic horror. It wants to be taken seriously so bad.
But here’s the thing about the shoggoths: they have a business.
They have two businesses they run out of an office building in downtown Los Angeles. A shoggoth is a primordial blob of eyes and mouths and flesh and hunger, and the idea of one of them at the LA Office of Finance registering an LLC is already. Great. Perfect. No notes.
The business is a front — and again, that’s great, a shoggoth went, “I want to do some nefarious deeds and not get caught by humans; I know, I’ll register a fake business that’ll be a front, and no human will ever suspect” — because the actual interior of this office is a room of pools of water made from black and ancient Antarctic rocks so that shoggoths can relax in their original blobby forms and eat stray animals that they’ve caught.
So it’s basically just. A place for shoggoths to unwind after a long day of pretending to be human. It’s portrayed as cosmic horror, but it’s shoggoth Cheers. Sometimes you wanna go where nobody knows your shape.
Here’s the kicker. The front of the business is a hydrotherapy clinic and stray pet rescue.
When they decided to make a front for their secret lair in an LA office building where they hang out in pools of water and eat stray animals — the front they prominently display and advertise — they decided to go with a hydrotherapy clinic and stray pet rescue.
That is Goosebumps shit. The rest of the story reads like a tone poem about the sleaze and violence of Los Angeles, and the main twist of the story reads like R.L. Stine.
But that’s not even the detail I can’t stop thinking about. Because the story reveals that this business — which again, is a front made by alien blobs to eat stray animals like an ALF-themed buffet and hang out in jacuzzi tubs of Antarctic rocks in an LA office — has a flyer.
Which means there’s a shoggoth with a passion for graphic design

One of the things I love so much about Yellowjackets and its use of sex scenes—and one of the reasons I balk at puritan culture claiming sex scenes have no place in media—is how much character gets across in these moments. The scenes are rarely, if ever, just about the sex.
It’s Van and Tai in the woods, this moment of pure intimacy, of letting someone see you when you’re at your most broken and realizing you can still be beautiful and present and whole. It’s recognizing love transcends what you look like, and that there is safety in trusting someone to really look under the mask.
It’s Jackie trying to prove something to herself and to Shauna, that she can be an adult, that she can catch up to this perceived finish line Shauna already crossed, and it’s Travis being so distant that he barely even knows where he is, that this physical act that feels like everything to Jackie is nothing to him. It’s a microcosm of that young adult fear of being left behind, of not fitting into the right tropes.
It’s Shauna and Adam in this primal, teenage courtship that is so about immaturity and spontaneity, where it’s entirely about her getting to reclaim the childhood she lost, even at her own detriment. And it’s Jeff and Shauna, where it’s entirely about trying to reclaim something damaged beyond repair, about the desperate need to hang onto something that maybe wasn’t ever yours to begin with.
It’s Natalie and Travis with this Lottie imagery hovering between them, an encapsulation of Nat trying to show him that reality is tangible, and Lottie being a symbol of hope and spirituality, with Travis being caught between. It’s building on this traumatic space they’re living in through the lens of distraction and escapism, and whether those things can be enough when real life is so deadly.
This show is so good about deploying these very human moments through physicality, and pushing the character arcs forward. Sex can genuinely be such a beautiful and painful way to explore character, and it’s such a fundamental feature of this story which is rooted in hunger and desire and collaboration. It’s so interesting to me.

Seeing all of my qsmp friends on here talk about the horrors of shipping on englishtwt is so funny to me. I haven't downloaded twitter and only have an account to vote on mcc polls. I don't have the app, I use the website alone and even then it's only to check what place insert creator here is on trending. My consumption of qsmp fanart and fan media is exclusively through tumblr and very niche corners of tik tok. Everyone I've talked to or interacted with are absolutely down for shipping the characters in a gay sex way because they're currently living on gay sex island and have gay sex on stream. The concept that any of what these creators are doing live could even possibly be "against their boundaries" is fuckin absurd to me. Vegeta and Foolish proudly introduce each other to the Brazilian creators as boyfriends. Quackity has canonically never met a woman before Jaiden. Speaking of which, there is one woman on the entire server and shes aro/ace both in game and in real life. Most of the eggs actively ship the creators together and ask for new polycules to form to give them new parents. All of the brazilian creators are in one polycule taking care of one egg. Slime asked "tiktok edit this" while he was having minecraft sex with Mariana. After they broke character and talked about their personal lives yesterday during the egg finale Mariana asked Charlie to break up with his girlfriend and marry him instead so he could get a green card. Then they fucked in Mariana's bed to another song as a fairwell before ending stream. They both admitted to loving the fanart they saw on twitter of them passionately making out and said it was their favorite part of the server. The only person who even mildly dislikes any of the shipping is Grace LMAO

Isn't it interesting how the ace community prioritizes supporting and amplifying the voices of aces who fuck and the aro community prioritizes supporting and amplifying the voices of aros who fuck. It's almost like the sex compulsory rhetoric is coming from both inside and outside the house.

nothing in the mcu can match the level of sexual tension of the scene with steve and bucky in the freight elevator, facing each other, while bucky is doing everything he can to not stare at steve's lips the whole time

i know its like, objectively bad but its lowkey v funny to me how the sex negativity of buffyverse media overwhelmingly only really applies to buffy
like everyone else is having the same amount of sex if not more and yet every time buffy does either the world ends or everyone she's ever met piles into the room to cast their personal judgement

I'm watching sex education and I can't tell if the woke popular kids not even trying to sign with their deaf friend is foreshadowing them being dicks. That or the writers are lazy and greatly overestimate how effective lipreading is.

allo people are wild because when one (1) person mentions that the art world (in general) is pretty over-saturated with art about sex and/or romance, they get so extremely defensive, and rant about how sex is good and art about sex is fine and normal. and like. you are right! it is! and the vast majority of the world agrees with you. Why is this a discussion we are even having.
queer sex and queer romance are absolutely treated with disgust and scorn, and art about queer sex and queer romance is so, so important. art about sex and romance, in general, is important, but especially queer art given -gestures at the world-. but where in the fuck is this idea that horniness in art is under attack coming into their heads from
you can talk about christian puritanism and the effects of it without making asinine and untrue blanket statements about the world's opinion of horny art in general. and frankly it is really insulting when that distinction is not made because you are framing the aspec people who point these things out to you as puritanical monsters attacking your right to be horny online, or whatever. as if aces and aros are not writing and drawing a good portion of your smut. lmao
like, for all the room made in the art world for art about sex and romance, where is the room for art about aromantic people's sex lives? asexual people's love lives? aroace people's many varying ways navigating both (or neither, or anything in between)? where's the room for demi people to discuss their experiences? that also falls under queer romance and queer sex in art, but there is no space for us in these discussions. it is presumed on our behalf that we don't want to be there.
even IF every aspec person did not want anything to do with romance or sex ever (which is not even true), we would still deserve to be listened to and valued. where's the room for the discussions about how puritanical ideas of sex and romance hurt us just as much? how being presumed to be on the side of oppressors is not only untrue, but extremely harmful? not everything that points out how sex and romance are overly abundant in the art world due to being presumed to be ubiquitous is puritanical or anti-sex or love-hating or what the fuck ever else. you just don't like it when you are told that everything is already about you and to please scoot over a little.
to be very, explicitly, abundantly clear: this is in no way a call for art in general to feature romance or sex less. i don't know how you can read this post and even come to that conclusion but people find a way so, disclaimer made. all aspec people want is for our experiences and perspectives to be considered and valued, including the perspectives of those who feel alienated by how obsessed the art world is with sex and romance, AND the perspectives of those who feel alienated by their exclusion from said art world's discussions of these topics.
