15. Did you read any books that were nominated for or won awards this year (Booker, Women’s Prize, National Book Award, Pulitzer, Hugo, etc.)? What did you think of them?
gosh, i just keep scrolling these award lists and wondering "where the hell did these books come from, because i did not hear about any of them." anyway, not really, except for The House of Rust by Khadija Abdalla Bajaber which won the fucking Ursula K. Le Guin Prize for Fiction everyone please clap. i think "What Moves the Dead" by T. Kingfisher and "Bunny" by Mona Awad got nominated for some stuff too, deservedly. "No One is Talking About This" by Patricia Lockwood is also really really good and won the 2022 Dylan Thomas prize.
17. Did any books surprise you with how good they were?
"Thistlefoot" by GennaRose Nethercott very nearly lost me in the middle, but by the end i was sobbing my eyes out. i have deadass not cried so hard over a non-tlt book in years. the way all the plotlines converged at the end was incredible and i forgave much of the filler preceding it.

The crosses are self-explanatory but let me explain the half ones:
I don't think EVERYONE else is wrong about Yato, but I often see him mischaracterized as a super dominant, possessive, brooding type because of his dark past, even though he's never liked killing people. And his possessiveness (clinginess) is more of a fear reaction (because he's lost so many people he cares about) than a desire for power or control over them.
As for the half mark on being a horrible person, Yato starting bad and getting better is the point of the story, so I hesitate to simply write it off as "he's a bad person lol!"

Who do you use for your references for lunar chronicles characters? Thanks 🤍
hmm to be honest i dont have all 9 main character references yet, bc im so particular about how i imagine them to look,, so far i have everyone apart from kai and wolf😭 i havent seen someone that looks how i imagine them on my pinterest yet :( but as for the others, i think ive posted a lot of them before but this is who i have so far :
oh also some of these characters have tweaks i make to the references when i draw them
cinder:
tweaks: metal limbs, bangs, lighter brown hair, bangs, more tan
scarlet:
tweaks: cut off pinkie finger if im drawing her post book 4 (if i remember loll) , fuller cheeks, hair more curly, eyebrow slit because its fun idc that its not canon😩
cress:
tweaks: freckles in the rare occasion that i remember, wavy hair, tan if im drawing her after she leaves the satellite, looooong tangled hair if shes still on the sattelite
winter :
i dont have an exact winter match so i use these two and kinda merge them
tweaks: 3 face scars, very curly hair
iko:
tweaks: blue eyebrows and braids, colour changing eyes depending on vibes ig, i tend to default to gold
kai:
STILL PENDING😓 i imagine him to look like that one laura hollingsworth drawing of him but i havent find an irl person that looks similar enough to him yet :(
thorne:
tweaks: metal fingers if its post winter, darker brown hair, stubble if he's in prison or in the desert

thinking back to my tlc posts in 2015-16 i was soooooo valid for calling kai “emperor foot fetish.” like i genuinely thought i was being dramatic or dragging tf out of the foot jokes but no. even in retrospect kai is still unhinged for hoarding her foot like he is no less insane than i remember him being like 7 (BARF) years ago
#the last time i was this active in the fandom i was literally 14 *sob emoji*#my reread of this entire series was literally triggered by this assignment i had to do for my 1 credit college class#and the assignment was to make a 'past journey map' where we talk about the stuff that shaped us as people#and i put the lunar chronicles on there but i assumed no one would recognize it because this series is pretty niche#and i showed it to my friend as a joke but she recognized the series and we BOTH WERENT EXPECTING THAT#so now we're in the process of rereading#im mostly done and she's about to finish scarlet#and we've managed to convince three of our other mutual friends to start reading the series#like i haven't been this excited about something in sooooooooooo long#and rereading has made me soooooo nostalgic but i promise you this is so much better than the fandom was 7 years ago#like it was actually unhinged. i found a post arguing to tag kiko as kinko because the kiko tag was full of other content#literally was fighting grown adults on this website at 13#adults romanticizing cresswell.
