predictions for rest of Owl House season 3
I can't see an ending to this show not somehow creating a permanent bridge between the Human and Demon Realms, but how are they gonna get there? I think the answer is in...
✨The Stars✨
One of the first things that brought this to my attention was in Reaching Out, when Luz & Amity send a flower into the sky, and it's directly paralleled by Camila's flower vase:
Amity: Do you think they'll reach the Human Realm?
Luz: Probably doesn't work that way, but... it's a nice thought, right?
Now, in Thanks to Them, we have TWO scenes where Luz literally reaches for the stars (the sun a clear reference to the Collector), MULTIPLE shots of light spells floating upwards (into the sky), Gus and Hunter discussing space travel, and the very last shot of the special itself panning up from the cemetery portal to the night sky.
But, how DO they reach the stars? I highly doubt this show would go towards a literal space travel route. I think, obviously, the Collector is a part of it, but I think it's also a matter of someone getting high enough to reach.
Perhaps maybe.... as tall as a titan?
Clearly, there's a lot of shared history between titans and the Collector. And titans themselves have their own fair share of celestial imagery:
(notice the titan skeleton LITERALLY BEING AS HIGH AS THE PLANETS AND ASTEROIDS)
Perhaps this is why the titans and the Collector have been at odds. Maybe, the titans could use the stars to travel, and for whatever reason, the Collector didn't like that.
And if titans can travel through the stars, it might also solve the mystery of King's mother's whereabouts.
We know the Boiling Isles titan is King's father. And the Boiling Isles is OLD. The Hecktaceous Period is a really vaguely ancient era that doesn't directly parallel one specific era on Earth, so it's hard to put a time frame on it. Either way, all life on the Boiling Isles evolved FROM the Boiling Isles, and did not exist prior.
But..... Bill saw a titan somehow? Bill isn't from the Boiling Isles, and he's old, but it seems unlikely that he's older than literally all life on the Boiling Isles. And King HEARD a titan, who roared, "son". King is about 8 years old, but we don't know how long he was in his egg before he hatched.
It SEEMS implied that "the last titan" the trappers were after was supposed to be King, but that might not necessarily be the case...
Bill: But if you think Belos is evil, you've never seen a live Titan. The children out there haven't either.
[The trio looks outside the window, but Hooty notices something to his right and stretches towards that direction. Cut to the King lookalike demons cheering at him as he stands in front of a waterfall.]
Bill: Don't know a thing about their ravenous appetites, or their terrible cries! Even their babies act like little monarchs. The last living Titan, I saw it once before it disappeared. Its hateful roar blew out my eardrums. How did it go? "Weh!"
Bill: [Rolls up his sleeve.] You like our disguises? [Takes off his glove to reveal a hand.] You gotta look like a Titan to trap one. [Puts on his glove back.] But if I ever find that missing Titan, I'd hunt it down, tear it limb from limb, and mount its head in pride as we release the Huntsman! Then... we can finally go from being Titan Trappers to Titan Slayers! Say, who's your buddy's tailor? His costume looks so real!
it sounds to me like there's a titan Bill saw that isn't the Boiling Isles or King.
And if you look back at the mural of the trapper fighting a titan, the titan is depicted with a longer face than what the Boiling Isles actually has. Maybe.... *that's* King's mother?
So, where did she go? The stars? But if they connect to the Human Realm, where would she be?
Funnily enough, in Connecticut (you know, the state Luz is from), there's geological structure called The Sleeping Giant.
Just a thought.

TPOH CHARLIE CHAPLIN THEORY
I don't know where I first heard the "RGB's dreams are based of silent film action stunts" theory, but I do know it's very popular in the fandom. Yet, I haven't found a complete list of what dreams are references to what stunts so I decided to do that myself! Plus a bit of theorising over what they represent!
A majority of these references are from Charlie Chaplin films, but a few are Buster Keaton and other actors. Apologies in advance if I get them mixed up at some point, since I don't know a lot about silent films and this was all first-time research.
Its no doubt that Charlie and RGB look very similar, sporting the same suit, hat and bamboo cane. The parallels between these two may suggest that RGB was an actor around a similar time frame. Charlie and Buster were known for doing most of their own stunts, some of which were quite dangerous. Not only are RGB's dreams references to these stunts, but they also portray what would happen if they went wrong.
Dreams
Diegesis page 74 is a reference to the 'falling house' stunt from Buster Keatons 'Steamboat Bill, Jr' (1928) In this stunt, the front of a house fell behind Buster but he was able to avoid getting hurt by standing right where the window fell. In RGB's dream, there are voices exclaiming to him that he is 'off his mark', meaning he isnt standing where the window will land. The house falls and presumably kills him, then RGB notes this isn't how he died.
The first panel of Hoofers page 248 depicts Harlod Lloyd's 'Safety Last' clock scene. In this scene, Harold is climbing a building and grabs onto a clock. The panel shows RGB losing his grip on the clock a plummeting to the ground below.
The second panel shows a pair of roller skates. This is a reference to Charlie Chaplin's 'Modern Times' where Charlie is seen roller skating dangerously close to a drop. This may just be a coincidence, but I should note that Charlie is blindfolded in this scene, and Human RGB is usually seen with something covering his eyes. May be another parallel??
Guys I'm sorry but I genuinely have no clue where this is from??? If anyone knows please comment it.
Edit: Thanks to the-property-of-stupid for pointing this out! This stunt is from 'Girl Shy' by Harold Lloyd, where Harold is holding onto a firetruck using a firehouse!

The second panel in Flood page 505 shows a stunt from Buster Keaton's 'The Three Ages' where he trys to jump from building to building using a wooden plank.
The third panel is a reference to Charlie Chaplin's 'Modern Times' in which Charlie is swallowed by a factory machine.
I THINK that's all of them, but let me know if I missed any. As for what these mean, it's shown in RGB's dialogue in his dreams that he is willingly playing out these scenarios to try and figure out how he died. Despite Negative being based off silent film actors, and RGB being an actor before he died, I don't think these references actually have much to do with the lore. As in, I don't think RGB was ACTUALLY swallowed by a factory machine. Most of the time, something else out of RGB's control happens in the dream with lore in it (example: the iron, the train, the doctor)

That was until I found these three reblogs from ModMad on the TPOH wiki! They were of more silent actor photos, and the captions implied they would be used in the future of TPOH.
But since they were reblogged all the way back in 2013, I asked Mod to confirm if there was still plans to use them. And they (in their usual Mod cryptid-ness) said yes.
So onto speculation!!!
On thing I find particularly interesting about these photos is that, to my knowledge, they are not stunts. They don't depict particularly dangerous situations and it's a bit of a stretch to say a HUMAN would die from these conditions. Because of this, I don't think these will show up when RGB is acting out scenarios on how he may have died. Instead, I think these will be used in a more lore-filled dream, since the events in the photos have more relation to RGB's character.
The first photos are of Charlie and Buster posed in bathtubs, with those omnious reblogs. My guess is that these photos will be referenced in a dream where RGB ends up in a bathtub and yeah I won't beat around the bush here these are most likely about Negative!
BATHTUB = WATER
WATER = NEGATIVE
And since RGB knows about Negative now, it makes sense he'll have a creepy dream about him at some point!
The next is a clip of Charlie lost in a mirror maze. I'm not great at understanding tone through text, so I'm slightly confused as what Mod means in this reblog. Do they mean 'it's going to be hell' as in it'll be hard to draw/write? Or do they mean it'll be sad?? Or hell for the characters??
Anyway, I still have a good guess as to what will happen in this dream mirror maze. RGB will look into his reflection and see Negative and/or Human RGB. We all know RGB has major identity issues, so putting a horror spin on a mirror maze will be a great way to drop lore about him! The classic comedy scenario of 'not knowing which reflection is real' could be symbolism on how he doesn't really know who the real him is.
Though, lately I've been noticing a running theme of me thinking of a theory but never saying it and then it ends up to be true sooooo just in case I do have one note to make about the mirror maze. Even though I HIGHLY doubt it, it is possible this scene won't take place in a dream at all, but in The House of Lead.
The House of Lead is also black and white, has lore relations to RGB, can create rooms and change its shape at will. Overall, it's very similar in aesthetic to RGB's dreams. It's not outlandish to suggest that RGB could get separated from Hero in the house and end up in this room. This was the place where Hero told RGB about Negative
Plus, this staircase was already styled to look like Negatives eye! This could just be a neat visual gag, but it's worth mentioning.
But the reason I'm so hesitant to say it'll happen in The House of Lead is because it feels much too SOON. Mod made these posts 10 YEARS ago, so it's clear their playing the long game. I really have no way to predict when these references will pop up, but either way, I'm super excited!
Overall, it was actually really fun watching all these silent films and now a keep imagining RGB doing a bunch of other, more silly, stunts. Please comment if i missed anything though!

"How is this possible?"
Dean walked up to Tim and Lucy, showing them new footage on his phone.
"It's been six hours in the tense standoff with the LAPD. There is much speculation in regards to hostages, but anonymous sources within the Attorney General's Office have told us that there is an undercover LAPD officer currently held inside the compound."
"Hostage negotiators say they are making headway and are hopeful for a positive outcome. There is no word as to why this officer was sent in alone."
"Which one of you is it? Which one of you is LAPD?"
"Why do you think one of us is LAPD? Tim asked, testing the waters.
"I'll be forgiven for what I have to do." Dean mumbled under his breath, evidently getting more pissed by the minute.
"What are you on about. LAPD?" Lucy asked.
"One of you does. Who. Is. It?" Deans voice echoed, and even his second-man failed to hide a flinch.
There was no time to think, it was a split second decision. Life or Death. The risk was worth it.
"Me. It's me."
There was no time to gather thoughts before Dean took a stride forward and threw a punch.
Lucy struggled to keep her face straight as she saw Tim head jerk back at the sheer force of the punch.
Tim moved his head back, and Lucy only saw a sliver of blood trailing down his chin before Dean twisted the sergeant's left arm behind his back, slamming him into the wall.
"You lied to me. I don't like liars." Dean said into Tim's ear, further twisting his hand in pain. His eyes locked with Lucy, trying to convey to him that despite this setback, her cover seemed to be intact. He needed it to stay that way.
"Is it just you?"
"Yes."
"I'm going to give you five seconds to revise that answer. Because if I find out you're lying, I will watch your accomplice die first, before I kill you."
Tim saw Lucy open her mouth, but uttered a 'it's just me' before she could get a word out.
"Good."
A swift kick to Bradford's knee sent him sprawling onto the floor, gripping his knee in pain.
"On your knees. Now."
As fast as he could with the dull throbbing in his knee, he pulled himself up, staring at Dean who was now pointing a gun at him. He stared into the barrel, unfazed.
He gestured at his associates, who are formed up on either side of Tim, enveloping his arms into theirs.
"Lucy, is it?" Dean asked, looking back at Chen, who was standing there, mentally running through solutions of how to get out of the mess they were in.
"Did you know he was in the LAPD?"
"Tim told me he was former military, unemployed, looking for someone with the right expertise. Now I needed them expertise, so he was hired. He's been reliable, trustworthy."
"Maybe you don't know your people so well."

Daenerys Meta Masterpost Part 1c - ASOIAF
This is a continuation of my Daenerys Meta Masterpost Part 1 and Part 1b.
I’ve compiled more than 2000 metas about Daenerys, both about the books and the show, and I intend to constantly update this post with more metas. The metas listed here will be linked to their reblogs in my blog, (since many people tend to change their usernames, and I don’t want the links to stop working in this case). @nymerias-heart suggested a while back that we do some TWoW speculation while waiting for the next book.
So I was wondering if ASoIaF readers on here could reblog the character list below with the chapter count they think each character would get in The Winds of Winter. Would be really interesting to see this. If we have enough data we could do some statistics.
ADwD was already a big book with 16 POVs and 73 chapters. Jon had the maximum with 13 and several characters had 1 or 2 chapters. In TWoW, GRRM has to fit in 20 POV characters and cover a lot of ground and story. And we only have two books left to finish the story.
The list is below. Just enter the number of chapters next to character names. You can also enter 0, if you don’t think the character will have a POV chapter.

Total: 88 chapters up from the 73 chapters in ADwD. The chapters could be of shorter length though, if GRRM cuts down on descriptions of feasts and travelogues. This is where his editor could massively help and GRRM has mentioned going back and tweaking things. For example, that Arianne sample chapter from TWoW would have her get to Young Griff instead of spending two chapters just traveling.
If we look at word counts:
A Game of Thrones: 4082 words per chapter (298k in 73 chapters)
A Clash of Kings: 4657 (326k in 70 chapters)
A Storm of Swords: 5171 (424k in 82 chapters)
A Feast for Crows: 6522 (300k in 46 chapters)
A Dance with Dragons: 5781 words per chapter (422k in 73 chapters)
He needs to go back to AGoT chapter lengths and then perhaps the limitations of book binding would not be a problem.
Here is also a link to confirmed POV chapters in TWoW. But note that this may have changed since GRRM did state in a recent notablog post that he was going back and changing things - combining chapters, splitting them, rewriting them etc.

Below the cut I have put in some of my reasoning for my POV counts.
First, I think GRRM needs to refocus on his main story and characters and make his way to the ending. That means more focus on main characters and less time spend on secondary characters. He should be spending time getting Arya, Bran, Jon, Dany and Tyrion etc. to their endgames rather than spend more time world building and telling the stories of secondary characters.
For example, Bran had like 3 chapters in Feast and Dance while Brienne got 8! Who is the more important character here? There are two books left, Bran has to finish training, find out stuff about the Others, explore lands of always winter, return south of the wall, meet back up with Jon and Arya, play a big part in defeating the Others and become King.
GRRM has written material for an entire book with Arya in Braavos. Unfortunately ASoIaF is not about Arya’s FM adventures in Braavos and Arya needs to get back to Westeros. So George has chop, cut, edit and narrow down her story there to like maybe 5 chapters before she leaves.
So either George cuts out a lot of the fat, travelogues, world building and secondary characters or he needs 8/9 books to finish or he can change his endings to suit what he has written now or he can procrastinate and just not write.
Some of the things GRRM has said regarding TWoW.
GRRM teases about events in TWOW in this interview
“I think we’re gonna start out with a big smash with the two enormous battles,” Martin says. Presumably one of those battles refers to the clash between Ramsay’s army and Stannis’s forces in the North (the outcome of which was described in Ramsay’s letter in ADWD—perhaps falsely?—but not actively shown), while the other takes place across the narrow sea when Yunkai attacks Meereen in an attempt to overthrow Daenerys. In addition, Martin says, “We have more deaths, and we have more betrayals. We have more marriages.” Let the speculation begin. As he’s noted before, Martin says the Dothraki are coming back into the story (“in a big way”), and he says “a lot of stuff is happening at The Wall.”

Of late I have been spending a lot of time with the Lannisters. Cersei and Tyrion in particular. I’ve also paid a visit to Dorne, and dropped in to Oldtown a time or three. In addition to turning out new chapters, I’ve been revising some old ones (some very old)… including, yes, some stuff I read at cons ages ago, or even posted online as samples. I tweak stuff constantly, and sometimes go beyond tweaking, moving things around, combining chapters, breaking chapters in two, reordering stuff.

For the nonce, it is what it is. My life is at home, on hold, and I am spending the days in Westeros with my pals Mel and Sam and Vic and Ty. And that girl with no name, over there in Braavos.
Now, there are three things that GRRM just has to get done in TWoW, IMO.
Daenerys Targaryen has to resolve her Essos plot and get to Westeros by the end of TWoW.
Arya has to resolve her Braavos plot and get to Westeros
Bran has to advance a great deal in his plot/Bloodraven/Others etc.
(Note: I suspect this is one of the reasons that TWoW is taking so long. By his own admission, Dany and Bran are the two characters GRRM finds hardest to write and my speculation is that there is a lot of these two characters in the next book.)
So I am going to assign Arya and Bran the most POV chapters - let’s say 8 each since they are the only POVs at their locations. The Essos plot is a complicated mess, but we have other POVs focused on there as well - Tyrion, Barristan and Victarion. And Tyrion will no doubt get a good chunk of chapters because GRRM likes to write for him and finds it easy to write for him.
For Oldtown I am assigning 6 chapters - 3 from Sam’s POV and 3 from Aeron giving us a look into what Euron is upto. Or it could be 4 for Sam and 2 for Aeron.
I suspect not much happening in Dorne until they align with Young Griff. Arianne and Jon Connington with a look into fAegon’s campaign advancing into KL. Some Vale stuff with Sansa and LF.
GRRM mentions spending a lot of time with Cersei and Tyrion. Cersei remains the only POV in KL and that’s an important location. Jaime and Brienne are together so GRRM can use either of them for Lady Stoneheart/the Brotherhood/Riverlands.
Lots happening at the wall. Big battles in the North and the resolution of the Northern plot - Theon/Asha with Stannis and Davos with Rickon/Northerners. I am not sure if Jon will get a POV - so I am giving him just 3 in case. I think the majority viewpoint will be Mel.

(also, please note that this is all in good fun. I don't actually ship DNF and I am not speculating about their sexualities or relationship. this is just a lighthearted drabble based on their internet personalities.)

George sits in Dream's lap while he's editing. Dream isn't really sure why. It just started one day when George decided he wasn't getting enough attention because Dream was too focused on his work. He's like a cat. He wants Dream's attention any time he's busy. He's not even that clingy usually, but he gets frustrated when he doesn't at least have the option of having Dream's undivided attention. So, he sits in his lap while he edits.
Dream loses his shit a little bit at first, doing his, "what? WHAT?" that he always does when George flirts with him, but he's also so used to George's antics that after the first time it happens, he's just like, "Okay. I guess this is a thing now." It becomes one of their things, one of the thousand little rituals they share, and neither would ever admit to it, but they really enjoy it. It feels safe, it feels warm. It makes them feel closer to one another, not only physically, but emotionally. Maybe Dream even starts putting out more videos just because he knows that George will sit on his lap when he's busy with editing—though that's probably just wishful thinking on my part. And maybe he doesn't fully realise that it isn't a solely platonic affection because it's George, ya know? This is his best friend and he loves him dearly and it's normal to want to spend time together and be close to each other, ya know? And yeah, when Sapnap walks in on them like this, he makes fun of them, but what does he know? This is normal.
Except... A few days later, when Sapnap tries to sit on Dream's lap as a joke, to make fun of him for doing it with George, Dream pushes him off immediately. It doesn't feel all nice and warm and sweet with Sapnap. Not like it does with George, despite being equally as good of friends with Sapnap. That's when Dream finally realises, This isn't normal at all.
He's nervous now. He doesn't know what he's feeling and he doesn't know if he'll ever be able to label it. After all, it's always been there, hasn't it? He's always felt this way. He just didn't realise that what he was feeling wasn't normal.
He puts off recording for weeks on end. The fans are ticked. They're trying to be supportive of his break, but what can they say? They miss their streamer. After two months with zero YouTube videos, Dream runs out of excuses. He records his new video and dodges George's thinly veiled questions about when he plans to edit it, waiting until George is out with friends to do so.
The hours stretch on and Dream is getting more and more frustrated. His ADHD is flaring up. He can't focus on anything. Every click of his keyboard is too loud, every flash of his monitor is too loud. Something is just wrong and he's not stupid, he knows what it is, but he can't admit it. Because if he admits it, then it becomes real, and he's not ready for it to become real.
So, he sits, and he tries not to let the frustration spill out from his eyes, and he tries not to let his mind wander into wondering why he feels this way about his best friend. He hears the front door open and he can only hope that it's Sapnap because he hasn't gotten enough work done to go to bed now and hide under the covers and pretend he isn't awake when George comes in to check on him.
Unfortunately, Dream doesn't always get what he wants.
The door creaks open and Dream knows without even looking that it's George. He's the only one in the house who never learned how to knock. George pauses for a second in the doorway, noting Dream's screen curiously, before stepping forward into his line of sight.
"Dream?"
Dream's glassy, bloodshot eyes respond for him.
"Hey, what's wrong?" George asks. "Are you okay?"
"No," Dream snaps. "I'm not fucking okay. I can't fucking focus on any of this shit. I haven't gotten a single thing done tonight."
George steps ever closer, pulling Dream into a hug. With Dream in his desk chair, George finally gets to feel taller than him as he pulls Dream against him and feels his face press into his stomach. "It's okay, Dream. You're trying your best. Sometimes, you just need to call it quits and start again tomorrow."
"I can't. I've already put it off for too long."
"Well, then, at least let me keep you company."
"No." Dream rips himself away from George, pushing his chair back a few feet.
"Why not?"
"Because... Because... I don't feel right."
"What do you mean? Are you sick?"
"No, I'm not sick. Dammit, George, I just... I don't feel what I'm supposed to feel for you. I don't know what I feel at all."
George doesn't look disgusted, and Dream thinks he must've misunderstood him. If George knew about all of Dream's big, swirling, terrifying feelings, there's no way he'd be so steady. Almost like he's trying to calm a frightened animal, when he asks, "Does it matter?"
"What?"
"Whatever you feel, it isn't wrong. I feel it, too, I guess. And I don't know what it is either, but it doesn't really matter, does it? Because we both feel it. We both care a lot about each other and we both love to be around each other. How can that be wrong?"
Dream chews on the inside of his cheek, trying to think of all the million reasons why this is a terrible idea—whatever this is. He can't. He can't think of a single goddamn thing. Reluctantly, he pushes himself back toward George, opening his arms.
Instead of sitting on Dream's knee, facing the computer, like he normally does, George sits facing Dream, smaller thighs bracketing larger ones, and rests his head in the crook of Dream's neck, deep and slow breaths fanning out against the tanned skin.
It takes Dream a few minutes to find the courage to ask, "What are we?"
George pulls away from Dream's neck, giggling like that's the stupidest question he's ever heard. "We're us, idiot."
Dream chews on that for a second, lets the words perforate his stupid brain and calm the rushing blood in his ears. "I think I like that," he says finally.
"Yeah?"
"Yeah." He pulls George back in to rest against his neck, tucking his own face into the pillow of George's hair. "I like us."

Two days passed where you flatlined at least three times a day. Every time it happened, it sent him and everyone else into a tailspin. No one had any time to breathe before another health crisis occurred. The swelling in your brain only returned, which meant you required surgery after surgery. By the time four days had passed, you’d had three surgeries to stop the swelling and bleeding in your brain, and in those three days, your prognosis remained uncertain. Your doctor was optimistic one day because you were holding on and fighting, but the next, the optimism faltered because of how many complications you faced.
He was a ghost. He didn’t sleep. He didn’t leave. He didn’t speak. He didn’t do anything by sit at your bedside and watch you. When he wasn’t doing that he was praying for your recovery, praying for some sign or glimmer of hope. Through his family’s anger, his mother still coddled him. Every few hours, she was pushing food into his hands, trying to convince him to eat. Her logic, “you can’t be there for her if you don’t take care of yourself.” He didn’t know if he deserved to be there to take care of you at this point.
The longer you remained in the induced coma the doctors put you in, and the more problems that arose, he blamed himself more and more. By day five, he was seething in self-pity and loathing. He couldn’t look himself in the mirror without hearing echoes of conversations you’d had. He couldn’t close his eyes even for a second without seeing your face. It should have brought him comfort, but it didn’t it was haunting—you were haunting him, and you were still breathing.
Whenever he did step away for biological functions, he came back to find Christiano in your room. Every time he saw him, his instinct said to kill him, and every time Christiano laid eyes on him, he could see the hatred and jealousy in his eyes. When he wasn’t there, Christiano was slandering him to any tabloid that would give him airtime. He called him every name, even went as far as to add to the speculation he’d had an affair. The only reason why he didn’t pummel his ass was because of you.
Everyone was right, this was the place, and it certainly wasn’t the time. He was the least important factor in all of this. He still made it difficult. He had to co-exist with him around, had to find a way to remain in the same room with him without jumping over your bed to choke him out. He’d had plenty of daydreams that ended in Christiano’s dead body. He’d done it many ways, and each ending had him smirking. Scott was the one to point out the evilness to his smirk once, and like his brother, he knew just what had put the smirk there.
“Tell me something,” Christiano began. He was sitting across the room on your left-hand side with an evident scowl. “Why her?”
Rolling his eyes, he sighed out. He knew Christiano was only setting some trap for him to fall in, either by showcasing his rage that would prove to your family he was the worst choice you could have made. Clenching his jaw, he focused on your face determined not to fall for his antics.
“I’m just trying to make friendly conversation. It’s just us here. Man to man tell me. Why her?”
“What the fuck does that even mean?”
“Why’d you go after her? I know she told you about me. I know because we talked a little bit after you met.”
His head snapped to Christiano then. You hadn’t told him that.
“She didn’t tell you, did she?” He scoffed then crossed his arms. “Yeah. I called one night, she said she was in Madagascar, Malaysia—no, that’s not it—hmm--Maldives.” Christiano looked at him then. The Maldives meant something to him. Perking up in his seat, he saw a bigger smirk on Christiano’s face. He knew it meant something. “Yeah, it was the Maldives. We talked for like an hour. She kept her voice low, I thought she was just tired, but you were probably fast asleep, and she didn’t want you to know that she was talking to me.”
Christiano shook his head and chuckled to himself. “Why her?”
He stared at you again. You were battered and bruised with tubes and wires coming out of every possible surface of skin, but still gorgeous. He couldn’t help but wonder what you’d talked to him about. He remembered the trip to the Maldives--he remembered it well. He knew this was what Christiano wanted, him to doubt you, doubt your relationship. He was a real asshole.
“If you really knew anything about love, then you’d know I didn’t have a choice, and she wasn’t singled out. If you knew about anything but possessing and claiming like the entitled fuck you are, then you’d know something more powerful, something bigger than anything was what had a hand in it being her for me.”
When he looked at Christiano, he saw the same rage and jealousy, but he also saw something else confusion. He had no idea what he was talking about. This wasn’t about love for Christiano. He’d always known it, but he was surer than ever. The question was, what was this about? Before either of them could speak again, the door opened, revealing your doctor—Dr. Diallo and another doctor in pink scrubs.
“Oh, excuse the intrusion,” he began.
“It’s fine. Is there a change?”
“I’m afraid not, I’ve brought the head of OB. Remember, I told you we’d schedule a proper workup for the pregnancy?”
“Yes,” he answered as he rose from his seat.
“Mr. Evans, my name is Dr. Michaelson. I am the head of Obstetrics,” she informed, holding out her hand for him to shake, which he did.
“Dr. Diallo has filled me in on everything concerning your wife. I am sorry for your struggle.”
“Thank you.” That was when all eyes landed on Christiano, still sitting there as if he had every right to be there.
“Eh-em, Mr. White, I am going to have to ask you to wait outside. Perhaps you’d like to take a break. This may take some time,” Dr. Diallo informed. Christiano clenched his jaw but didn’t speak as he walked to the door. Before he walked out, Christiano gave him another look that said he had plenty to say, but he kept quiet and left.
“Come in, please.” Both doctors walked into the room, pushing a cart with them.
“I’m here to perform an ultrasound. After everything your wife has been through, we have to fully understand what is happening within the womb as well as make sure the pregnancy is progressing as normal and that the embryo is healthy,” Dr. Michelson explained as she set up the device that was on the cart.
“What if when you examine her, you find things less than ideal?”
Dr. Diallo and Dr. Michaelson exchanged a look that didn’t look hopeful. “Depending on the situation, two things are possible, your wife will naturally have a miscarriage, and the embryo will pass, or a medically assisted miscarriage will be performed,” she explained.
His emotions nearly got the best of him. Taking a moment, he took a deep breath. “We um—she’s already had one miscarriage.”
“When?”
“A few months ago, about eight or so,” he clarified. Dr. Michelson nodded and opened your hospital gown before she squirted a clear gel on your stomach. His eyes didn’t miss the bloodied bandages a few inches above your navel. His heart lurched, making him drop to the seat behind him.
“Are you alright?” Dr. Diallo was to his side after a few moments.
“Fine,” he assured. Dr. Diallo didn’t listen, though; he pressed his fingers to the inside of his wrist, feeling his pulse which was racing.
“Your pulse is higher than normal. When was the last time you slept, Mr. Evans?”
“The night before this all happened,” he confessed.
“Mr. Evans,” Dr. Diallo began. He knew what he was going to say. Raising his hand, he stopped the lecture before it began.
“I know. Let’s continue, please.”
When Dr. Michaelson placed the wand on your stomach. He watched her move it around searching. After almost a minute of silence in the room, it filled with the sound of a rapidly beating heart.
“What’s that?”
Dr. Michaelson smiled as she continued to move the wand. “That Mr. Evans is the sound of your baby. It’s the baby’s heartbeat.”
Tears filled his eyes, and they automatically streamed down his cheeks. The word “baby” echoed in his head. He hadn’t even wrapped his head around the fact that you were pregnant. When he was told the news, it was just something that hadn’t resonated. It was just news. Now it was different.
“It’s fast.”
“It’s absolutely normal. I’m happy that the heartbeat is this pace. I worried it would be slower. Ah-ha, here we are. I stand corrected.”
The image on the screen took his breath away.
“It is the sound of your babies,” Dr. Michaelson clarified. His jaw dropped as he looked at her. She nodded, confirming it.
“Plural?”
“Plural, twins, incredibly strong twins. See, this is one baby and the other. They are in separate sacs, two separate placentas. From this, I’d say fraternal twins.”
He leaned closer, rested his elbows on the edge of your bed, and just gawked at the image on the screen. The two near microscopic tadpole-shaped beings looked more frog-like than humans, but he didn’t care. They were his tadpoles. The weight of that had him dropping his head to rest atop your thigh. his body shook as he sobbed and just listened to the sound of the beats in the room. It was the most incredible sound he’d ever heard. Only one other sound ever had this impact on him—your voice.
“They look healthy. I can’t see anything wrong. There is no abruption of any kind, no bleeding, no abnormalities. They are perfect.” She sounded amazed.
When he looked up again, he just stared at the screen, at your children. He knew he should have felt happiness, and to some degree, he did, but it was a different kind of happiness. His sorrow still tethered him to the earth, making it impossible to feel full happiness over the news that should have sent him onto cloud nine.
“From the size of the embryos, it looks like she’s maybe nine weeks along,” Dr. Michaelson claimed.
He would have smiled if he could. Nine weeks. He knew just when it happened. It was then he remembered his mother’s words. “Through heartbreak, joy can blossom.”
He dropped his head again to your thigh and cried.
“We’ll give you some time with the news,” Dr. Diallo informed as he led the other to the door.
When he was alone, he broke down again as he grabbed your hand.
“Uriah, come back to me. Please, baby, come back to us.”

The sun set, then rose, and set again, and he was still beside you with your hand in his. His pleads were now silent, but still, you remained the same. Every time he looked at the ultrasound picture, his fear increased. He couldn’t shake the feeling that he was about to lose everything, and it was unbearable, especially with the thought of the two new lives in your womb. Everything in him said fight, but he had no idea how to do that. What could he do that would have any impact?
“You have to sleep.” He’d recognize his mother’s voice anywhere.
“How do I sleep? How do I do anything but sit here?”
The silence returned, but he felt his mother sit beside him and watch the same thing he was watching—you.
“She would want you to take care of yourself. If not for yourself or her, for the baby.”
He scoffed and wiped a stray tear.
“Babies. Twins.”
“Oh my god, Chris. Are they okay?”
“Yeah, the doctor says they sound healthy, and they’re strong,” he shared.
“Thank god. What a blessing.”
“A blessing? Mom, look around.” He sounded disgusted.
“The situation isn’t, but these babies are a blessing. Through heartbreak, joy can blossom, and it did. Honey, I know you’re hurting, my god, it breaks my heart but--.”
“I only have myself to blame. I know,” he interrupted.
“I never said that.”
“It’s what you want to say. It’s all any of you think. None of you will even listen or give me the benefit of the doubt. You all just automatically believe the lies, believe that asshole.”
“Watch your mouth!”
Snapping his mouth shut, he lowered his head to rest it on your hand.
“I never said I didn’t believe you. You’re my son. I will always believe you over tabloid fodder. I am just—disappointed.”
He sighed. If it was anything any child hated to hear was the disappointed line.
“How could you let this happen?” She sounded disappointed this time. Truthfully, she wasn’t asking him anything he hadn’t asked himself in the last week. The answer was the same.
“I didn’t mean for this to happen.”
“Mean for it or not, it’s happened. I’m not going to ask you if you had an affair with this woman.”
“Of course, not mom. I’ve never been unfaithful to my wife. You didn’t raise me like that. How could I? She’s perfect.”
“Okay, you didn’t have an affair. Someone has gone out of their way to make it seem as if you have. You have to ask who. To figure that out, you have to figure out a motive. Who has something to gain if you and Uriah have problems or divorce?”
“Christiano.” His eyes met his mother’s.
“So your theory is he did what exactly?”
“That video is bullsh—doctored. None of that happened. I just don’t know how he even got his hands on it. There were no paps there, no-one but cast and crew,” he explained.
“Maybe someone from the cast or crew took the video,” his mother suggested.
He began to go through each of the cast dismissing them one by one because none of them had any motivation to do something like this. He’d worked with them all before and had developed a relationship with them—a friendship. He was sure he could trust them. When he came to Ana, he acknowledged that she was the only one who was a new acquaintance. From the day they’d met at the screen test, he’d felt comfortable around her, and that was a reason why he had such a difficult time seeing her as anything but a friend. The facts were, though, that he’d never worked with her before.
“They would have had to have the know-how to edit something that extensively,” he said as his thoughts roamed.
From what he knew, Ana didn’t have those skills, but she had enough money to find someone who could. He came up with reason after reason why she could be the culprit, but for every reason to it being her, he came up with one to say she wasn’t the one to blame. He thought back to their brief conversation a few days ago. She sounded shaken up as if none of this made sense to her like it came from out of nowhere. She sounded like a victim, he thought. She was an actress, though, he thought in the same breath. Still, he couldn’t deny the way she insisted on handling the investigation into it was a little suspicious. He hadn’t thought about then or cared to because his thoughts were all over the place and only on you, but now something felt off.
“Chris--.” His manager walked into the room, interrupting his conversation with his mother.
“I’m sorry. I know this is a tough time, but this is getting out of hand. The longer you don’t make a statement, you are fueling the rumors and even giving this Christiano guy a stronger leg to stand on.”
He sighed and sat back in the chair. Real life was calling.
“You have to make a statement, even if it is something small, something simple. PR thinks the same thing. Appearances are everything.”
“I don’t give a fuck about appearances! My wife is lying in this bed. My wife is fighting for her fucking life! I don’t give a shit what they want to say. I don’t give a shit what anyone is saying!”
He sprang to his feet and paced the room. Motion always helped to calm him down, but right now, it wasn’t helping.
“I get that, but you have to find a way to slow the shit storm.”
He stopped in front of the window and stared out.
“Honey, he’s right. This is a nightmare; we get it. It is only going to get worse the longer you stay quiet. Just give them something small.”
Balling his fist, he tried to stay away from the feelings of rage he’d been battling the last week. “Fine. Uriah—my wife—my life,” he began before taking a beat to stave away the fresh tears that threatened to stream. Swallowing the lump in his throat, he continued. “--Was involved in a car accident and our family is asking for privacy and positivity during this difficult time. I encourage everyone not to listen to believe or give fire to false rumors that do not lead anywhere. There is your statement.”
“Chris--,” his manager began.
“That is the statement! If you want anything else, you won’t get it here.”
He heard a sigh and the sound of the door opening. “Wait. I need someone looking into that video. I want answers.”
The next thing he heard was the soft click of the door closing, then felt his mother’s hand on his shoulder. It felt like the weight of the world, and it was enough to bring him to tears yet again.
-One Week Later-
He took a deep breath and looked out at all the faces of everyone he cared deeply about--his mother, sisters, brother, their significant others, your parents, your cousin, and best friend. After a week of turmoil both internally and externally, he was sitting in front of everyone that probably hated him. You’d been in your coma for two weeks now, and for the last two weeks, everyone was on edge. Everyone felt the uncertainty, everyone felt the tension and none of them knew what to say. The only ones who spoke to him were his mother, his brother, and Shanna’s boyfriend. He understood. To them, he was public enemy number one. He hadn’t given them any reason to believe any differently. It was time to change that.
“You’ve all known me for a long time, if not my entire life, then the last six years. I know in the last few weeks and months none of you have any reason to think the best of me. I know you all blame me for what’s going on, and to be truthful, I understand completely. You don’t blame me more than I blame myself.” He dropped his head and slightly shook his head before he faced them again.
“I’m sorry for the situation that I have put you all in, but let it be known once and for all for any doubt in any of your minds. I did not have an affair. Never have I nor would I ever cheat on my wife—your daughter,” he finished looking your parents in their eyes.
Your father kept his eyes on him. He knew it was an intimidation technique. Your father was a respected marine sergeant, and when it came to intimidation, he was the best around for it. A full minute passed before he took another breath; still, your father hadn’t looked away. “Mr. Tyler, I swear to you. I gave you my word years ago that I would respect your daughter, love her, and treat her like the queen she was. I have not gone back on my word, never—not once,” he added.
“Then how are we here, Chris?” Your mother sighed out before her face scrunched to produce fresh tears. “My daughter is lying in a hospital bed, and the world is calling you a cheater.”
“I know Roxxi. I did not cheat. That video is doctored, nothing of the sort happened. It was an outing with the entire cast. We left at the same time, but what that video doesn’t show is me getting in a car with Daniel and Jamie while she went her own way. I’ve only ever had eyes for her.”
The silence returned, and everyone looked to be waiting to know how they should react.
“Auntie Roxxi, Uncle Marcus,” Zora began stepping forward. “This situation is bad all around. We can all agree on that. I’ve been with Riah since the beginning of this whole thing. While Chris has made mistakes in the way he’s handled this,” she paused and looked at him. It was as if she was searching for something, he didn’t know what, but he hoped she didn’t seal his coffin.
Zora sighed and gave him a slight nod before she continued. “Chris loves Riah, I’ve seen how much he loves her. He’s been a blind, trusting buffoon, but he didn’t have an affair.” He released a relieved breath as Zora looked at him again. “He would never no matter how bad it looks,” she finished.
Everyone spoke amongst themselves as he locked eyes with Zora. The look on her face said she was angry and disapproving, but it also said she stood with him. She knew something.
“Then what is going on?” Carly was the one to ask the burning question everyone was thinking.
“That is what I intend on getting to the bottom of,” he responded with determination.
Everyone nodded together, and for the first time, he felt like they were all on the same page and that the page wasn’t hating him.
When everyone broke off to their own conversations, he took Zora and Kizzy to the side to figure out just what they knew. Neither Zora nor Kizzy wanted to talk in the open and insisted on meeting in one of the other private rooms meant for families. That was enough to raise his suspicions, and when he met them there, he could feel the icy chill in the air that matched the cold glare from Kizzy.
“First of all, just because Z is on your side does not mean I’m okay with any of the shit you’ve done,” Kizzy blurted out loud enough that someone could have heard if they weren’t alone in the room. Zora elbowed Kizzy, who crossed her arms and sat back in the seat.
When Zora was going to speak, Kizzy leaned forward again. “Before any of that, look me in my eyes and tell me you didn’t cheat on my best friend. Look me in the eye and tell me that you’re not the stupid motherfucker you’re acting like.”
“Kizzy!”
He held his hand up, letting Zora know it was okay. Leaning forward as Kizzy did, he met her eyes. “I didn’t cheat on her. Nothing has ever happed between Ana and me, ever. I would never.” He could feel Kizzy was seconds from blowing up, and he didn’t blame her. Sighing out, she leaned back again.
“Then explain the texts.” Zora’s voice drew his attention.
“What texts?”
“You’ve been caught, Chris. We saw the texts in Ana’s phone. The texts between the two of you,” Kizzy blurted out.
He looked at Zora who was shaking her head. When she opened her mouth, he was shocked by what she said. She told him of the hotel and just what you were doing there. When they told him about what they’d heard and seen in Ana’s phone, he couldn’t hide his shock.
“Yeah, what the fuck you gotta say now?”
He sat back in his chair in disbelief that he’d driven you to this extreme. He never wanted you to feel like you had to act like this. He never wanted to give you a reason to. The shame he felt was intense. Dropping his head in his hands, he rubbed it.
“Explain touching her breasts, explain the kiss. Explain telling her marriage is hard and all the other private shit you said. What the fuck!”
“We were going through a scene where my character goes after her, and he’s supposed to be seeing red,” he began.
Kizzy kissed her teeth loudly while rolling her eyes, “Who the fuck cares. Get on with it!”
Reigning in his anger, he took a deep breath and continued. “In the haste of the scene, one of my hands got her arm, and the other touched her breast. I immediately pulled back and apologized. It was not intentional, and it was a fraction of a second.”
“And the kiss?”
“That was her. We were running lines in between takes, and she kissed me. Again I immediately pulled back, and it wasn’t even a second. I told her that wasn’t cool, and she apologized said--.”
“We saw what she said. Conveniently, you have explanations for all of this.”
“It’s the truth, Kizzy. You know Riah, why would I risk my life by making a fool out of her like that? Even if this was true, do you think I’d be such a messy asshole to let any of this come out? I’m sorry to say this, but I’m a lot smarter than that.”
“Smarter? You’re the dumb ass who has been entrusting this snake!”
“I didn’t know anything about any plan she had. Besides those exchanges with her, there has been nothing else. The conversations you can fault me for. Yes, the little I said was too much, I see that now. I didn’t see it then I saw it as a friend I could confide in about things.”
“Both of you shut the fuck up!” Zora’s shout was loud and bounced off the walls. He slinked back as did Kizzy.
Everyone’s tempers were high.
“Do you think Ana is behind all of this?”
“Of course that bitch is behind this,” Kizzy blurted. Zora gave her a look that had her shut up quick.
“What about Christiano?”
Kizzy and Zora looked at each other and exchanged a look he wanted to know more about.
“We know you hate him, and he is being a pain in the ass, but how?”
They sat there silently, each thinking about different aspects of this entire situation. When the door busted open, Scott was there.
“Come quick. It’s Uriah!”
The three of them were on their feet in seconds, and the four of them ran back toward your room. When they approached, Dr. Diallo was walking out of the room.
“What’s happened?”
“She’s awake.”
Everyone exclaimed out with joy and relief and began celebrating, but he couldn’t.
“Is she okay?”
“It is a good sign she is awake, an excellent sign.”
The first smile in weeks spread across his face. “Can we see her?”
Dr. Diallo nodded and stepped aside, allowing them to walk inside the room. Everyone else poured in the room first, he hung back mainly from fear because of how things were left. He watched as everyone filed in around your bed. You were sitting up, eyes open, tubes gone and alert. His emotions got the best of him then. It was a sight he’d prayed for, a sight he’d wanted more than anything. He watched as almost gave you gentle hugs. You weakly smiled back at everyone else before you saw him. When your eyes locked, the look was a blank one. The fear in him rose even more, but he couldn’t stay away any longer.
Everyone looked at him, making room for him to get in closer. As he approached your bedside, your eyes never left him. When he leaned in to hug you, you recoiled away from him. He’d expected it, but still, it hurt a lot more than he’d ever thought it would. Fighting to keep the pain away, he took a breath and looked into your eyes again. Still, the blank look was there, but so was confusion and fear.
“Wha—what—eh-em--.” You looked as if you were in a lot of pain, but you didn’t stop. You tried again. “What’re—you—doing—here?” Your voice was hoarse and barely above a whisper. You took a deep breath and panted like it took everything out of you.
“Baby—I know we’re going through something but--.” Your brows knitted together as you pulled back even more, looking at your mother and father.
“We? Ba—baby? What—what’s—going—on? I—don’t—know you.”
He could have been knocked over by a gentle breeze. He’d thought the worst-case scenario if you woke up was you hating him or wanting a divorce. He never thought it would be you erasing his very existence from your world.

LBSC Sprint Challenge 3/10-3/17/21
The LBSC Sprint Fic Challenge is now open for writers and artists! The prompts are:
1. Visual Prompt: Rain by @verfound (used with permission)
2. My friend got into an accident and their heart rate increases whenever I come to visit them in the hospital... why is that?
3. “Could you say that again?” “Were you not listening?” “No I was, I just like hearing your voice.”
4. Matching nails
5. Flower crowns
6. Wildcard - pick any of the prompts available from our sister blog, @mlweeklyprompts, or any previous challenge prompt.
You have until Wednesday, March 17 to complete your 3 15-minute sprints/45 minute art sprint and post the results. Once you’ve completed the sprints, you have 24 hours to edit (which can include some new writing to smooth transitions and make it feel complete, and whatever work you feel appropriate to get your art to a state you consider ‘finished’).
Please note you may sprint in the language of your choice, and you can either translate the final fic before posting, post it in the original language, or both as you choose. You can join us on the sprint challenge discord or sprint on your own! Just be sure to tag @lovebugs-and-snakecharmers in your final post so we will see it and reblog it. The rest of the rules can be found here under the cut.
Rules!
We’ll post a beginning and end date to the challenge, and a prompt.
Writers, If you choose to participate in the event, write for that prompt in up to three 15 minute sprints. No writing outside the sprints until you have completed all three! After the 3 sprints are complete, you have 24 hours to edit (which can include some new writing to smooth transitions, etc). You can also choose to break that 45 minutes up differently if you find a different split works better for you. After those 24 hours, post what you’ve got. Tag your posts with @lovebugs-and-snakecharmers so we can reblog it to the LBSC blog. If you post your work on AO3 or somewhere other than Tumblr, you can leave a link in our ask box or in the appropriate discord channel so we can be sure to promote it. You’ll have approximately one week to complete the challenge, with the goal being for everyone’s work to be posted by the designated challenge end date.
Artists, you have 45 minutes to sketch and 24 hours to do any cleanup or coloring you’d like to complete. You can split your 45 minutes up however you like, or not at all. There’s no requirements on your finished piece, just aim for whatever goal seems challenging but achievable to you. See additional challenge rules below.
If you’re wavering as to whether or not you think you can accomplish anything in 45 minutes, we really encourage you to give the challenge a try. You may be surprised what you can do! Feel free to join us in the discord linked above so we can encourage and cheer you on.
Obviously, this has to run a bit on the honor system and we won’t be tracking your times, but please do your best to honor the spirit of the challenge! If your sprint fic becomes an Entire Thing (these things happen sometimes) and you want to continue it, feel free! However, please still post whatever you’ve got after your 3 sprints with the tag. No fair busting out a fully polished fic or art without showing us what it looked like at the challenge stage!
Feel free to sprint in whatever language is most comfortable to you! You can post it in your own language or translate it before posting, or both!
We want to keep this a positive space and event! This does NOT mean that you can’t write or draw anything critical of a character or episode, but it isn’t the space for character bashing or hate either. Please keep the characters in character and save the more speculative work for another time. NSFW sprint fics are permitted but must be tagged appropriately (please use “NSFW LBSC sprint fic challenge” for easy filtering on the blog) and with appropriate warnings. (More FAQ about the process here)
This is a Lukanette blog and a Lukanette event, so while Lukanette does not need to be the main ship, it needs to at least be included or referenced and considered endgame (in other words, they don’t have to be together by the end of your work, but the intent is that they’re headed in that direction). The decision about what qualifies for reblog rests solely with the LBSC moderators. If a piece hasn’t been reblogged within a couple of days, either the mods felt the piece didn’t meet the criteria or it was simply missed; you are welcome to reach out in the asks to inquire which. There are plenty of other spaces out there for other ships and OT3s, and people are welcome to use the challenge rules and prompts to write for their own ships! They just won’t be reblogged to the LBSC blog, and we ask that you please not use the event tag (a modified form is fine - “InsertAlternateShipName sprint fic challenge” instead of “LBSC sprint fic challenge,” for example).

This Isn’t A Ghost Story extras for Chapter 8: The Temple
The eighth and final chapter of This Isn’t A Ghost Story has been posted! You can find it here on AO3 and here on Tumblr. Below the cut are extras for this chapter and a few things for the story over all. I’ve had such fun writing this fic, and hope you’ve all enjoyed reading it and following along with the writing process here too!
Like the previous chapter, chapter 8 is named for the location where it takes place, in this case the Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut, which is near the Valley of the Kings, Thebes, and modern Luxor, on the west bank of the Nile.
As mentioned in both this chapter and previous chapters, several sections of the temple have stars painted on a blue background on the ceilings:
The ‘towering statue’ Clara comments on is one of a line of statues depicting the pharaoh Hatshepsut as the god Osiris, only a few of which are still standing:

I came across the Temple of Hatshepsut fairly early in my writing process, when I was looking into what archaeological dig sites were active in the 1910s and 1920s. This photo from the late 1920s shows the continuing work going on in the area (that’s the Temple at the back left), and served as part of the inspiration for Clara’s memory of finding the Doctor at a dig site in Thebes in 1921:
About a month into writing This Isn’t A Ghost Story, I was grappling with the detail of Clara’s wedding ring, based on the poll results you guys gave me. I had been toying with going with an emerald for her ring, since emeralds have some interesting ties to ancient Egypt, but I also really wanted to go the route of a TARDIS-blue sapphire, and in particular a star sapphire really appealed to me, for its look and its symbolism. The results of that little impromptu poll clearly pointed to a star sapphire -- but also suggested I tie it into the world-building somehow.
Those two elements came together in my head rather abruptly when I remembered the star ceiling at the Temple of Hatshepsut, and after digging into the history of Hatshepsut, I realized it worked almost too well. On 28 June this final epilogue chapter sprang into being in basically the form you see it in here, baring a few edits I’ve made to it in the three months (!!) since then.
As the Doctor says in this chapter, the Temple was designed and overseen by Hatshepsut’s head advisor Senenmut, and many modern Egyptologists do in fact believe that the two may have been lovers during Hatshepsut’s time as pharaoh. While there are many stylized statues of Senenmut (including a few of him with Hatshepsut’s daughter, to whom he served as primary tutor), archaeologists have also found ostracons, chips of limestone that ancient artists used as throw-away sketching surfaces, that depict Senenmut in what he more likely looked like in life:

And then there’s Hatshepsut herself, who is depicted in numerous different ways throughout art and statuary, sometimes shown as more typically male in her role as pharaoh, but more often shown in what Egyptologists believe she looked like in life -- large eyes, full cheeks, and a small chin:

Once my brain made that connection, I really couldn’t let it go.
I had originally planned to end the story with the sequence in the Cairo museum that eventually became chapter 7, but the connection between Clara and the Doctor and the real historical Hatshepsut and Senenmut -- with the added parallel of Senenmut as tutor and guardian of Hatshepsut’s daughter corresponding to the Doctor watching over Margot in Ghost Story, even -- was just too good to pass up.
Senenmut’s tomb is as the Doctor described it, with the oldest known astronomical ceiling of any tomb or temple in Egypt:
His tomb is very near to the Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut, and tunnels into the cliffside such that it is extremely close to Hatshepsut’s own tomb, which is entered from the Valley of the Kings, on other side of that mountainous area. This has only further fueled speculation that the two were very much in love -- as pharaoh, Hatshepsut had to have her tomb built in the Valley of the Kings, and as a commoner Senenmut couldn’t be buried there. But they could design their tombs such that they would be as close as possible to each other, even if the entrances are miles apart.
Part of my goal with this final chapter was to give a hint at a larger story that this version of Clara and the Doctor are just a part of. I left the possibility that they had once been Hatshepsut and Senenmut intentionally open-ended, so the reader can make their own decision. They might have been, they might not have been, but in the end what matters is that they are together and in love now.
Similarly I also wanted to make allusions to both Doctor Who canon -- Senenmut as an ancient astronomer, and Clara’s comments about travelling the stars together in their next life -- as well as the wide variety of fanfiction that exists for this ship. In a way there are thousands of versions of them scattered about out there, finding each other and falling in love over and over again. This Isn’t A Ghost Story doesn’t exist in a vacuum, it’s part of a much larger multi-layered story that is constantly being told and re-told. And in many ways, that’s what I love best about fanfiction versus any other genre of fiction.
The process of writing this story has been so interesting and rewarding, frustrating at times and huge amounts of fun at other points. With this final chapter posted, This Isn’t A Ghost Story is officially the first multi-chapter, non-series fanfic I have ever actually finished, in more than a decade of posting fanfiction online. This is the first time I’ve made myself wait to start posting a story until it’s nearly complete, and I documented more about my process thoughts here on Tumblr than I have for anything I’ve written previously.
It has been a fantastic nearly four month journey, and so much of that is down to the lovely interactions with those of you reading, both here and over on AO3. From the early interest many of you expressed way back at the beginning of June, to the comments and cheerleading on my #process thoughts posts throughout the summer, to all the many wonderful and humbling comments on the story on AO3, I could not have made this journey without you guys. With what a strange, stressful, and often depressing year 2020 has been, I know that when I look back on this year, this is what I’m going to remember the best, taking this journey along with all of you.
And on that note -- do any of you have any questions about Ghost Story? Anything about the writing process or the world building or really anything at all, I am more than happy to answer in as much detail as you like. @tounknowndestinations had asked about the timeline I worked out for the entire story, that I’ve been keeping under wraps for fear of spoilers. Originally this started as just a way to keep straight how many years had passed -- ‘do I say eighty-six years here, or eighty-seven??’ etc -- but eventually ballooned from there to cover the entire narrative, and even some of the timeline that is only hinted at in places. This is its final form in my working googledoc:

13 May 1921: the Doctor and Clara the 1st meet in Cairo, she is 22, he is 46

and i’m currently laughing my gay ass off y’all cause not only does basically everything on their website LOOK like exactly zayn’s style...it LITERALLY IS ZAYN’S STYLE (reference pics below) and that’s ON TOP of the fact that they also sell the anatomical heart necklace that liam was wearing recently and the eye rings (which they point out are each made unique and which is why i need an hq pic of liam’s asap so i can compare it to zayn’s properly to see if it really is the same one lol, not that it really matters anyway cause it’s still similar enough and a big enough coincidence, that they’ve both worn them, to leave everyone 👀)

(although keep in mind that since most of these pics of him are older it’s possible that there’s even more he’s worn from them that they don’t sell anymore or that what’s in their store right now might be a slightly different style than what he’s wearing in pics but still looks pretty similar enough that i felt it deserved to be included)
it’s hard to tell for certain from the quality of the pics for these next couple but one of the bracelets (third one down) in this pic looked a lot like their small skull bracelet
i know people have also always speculated that that chainlink bracelet was a cartier one but after looking around this website i wondered if it’s also possible it’s their shackle bracelet...might not be since the shape/style of the chainlinks/shackles looks a little different on zayn’s but just throwing it out there as a possibility
and the middle one here definitely looks like their black woven bracelet (which is possibly also in that first pic of zayn above but it’s easier to see in these pics since they’re more hq and not in black and white)
and this looks a helluva a lot like their thick link bracelet
there’s also these plain bands that we’ve seen zayn in a lot over the years

I don't know if you know kpop but if you were to put the boys of 19 days in a kpop group what headcanons do you have for them? Positions? I love you 💗
(´♡‿♡`) hello, first of all that ‘I love you’ warmed my heart more than you can imagine and I probably wouldn’t be able to convey my gratitude for your kindness no matter how much I tried. now to answer your question… unfortunately I know literally nothing about kpop besides the fact that its korean pop. I once watched a compilation video of some funny moments between kpop stars but I don’t have enough knowledge on what positions there are for kpop or how that industry works, the training etc. so I don’t think I will be able to answer this and for that I apologize immensely.
however, I don’t want to leave you completely hanging — so, since I had another message in my ask box to which I believe is slightly similar to your own question, maybe you would be interested to know what I think regarding this as well since it also has to do with music/roles. I hope this will be able to make up for that.
question from this anon in short is: what do you think their band roles are?
the post they are mentioning that I reblogged is this one in case anyone is wondering. I agree it is strange that some people believe if someone already has an instrument to play it means they cannot be the vocalist, its a very false thing to believe; but maybe they just don’t know or forgot thats not really how bands work most of the time. in fact the majority of singers in bands do, do more than only singing and often play an extra instrument; its actually less common for vocalists to only sing in a rock band.
now to get to actually answering the questions, I think the official artwork which straight up show what they play, as well as hints, and their personalities help to give away what roles they have in the rock band illustrations old xian has drawn. to help explain, I think the positions they have will be similar to how it is in the story ‘given’ by kizu natsuki (which if you haven’t read yet, go read it now, its amazing. mafuyama are my otp, I’ve been reading it for years). you can see their band roles in an edit I made here. essentially there is a vocalist/guitarist, drummer, another guitarist, and a bassist. so this is what I think:
jian yi is the vocalist/guitarist:

as you can see jian yi has a deep red guitar, which peek — also happens to match zhan zheng xi’s deep red drum set, strapped around himself in the top left image so its automatically a given that he will be playing the guitar. a regular guitar typically has six strings and its sound a bit lighter compared to bass guitars which I think would pair well with jian yi’s voice, who I believe to be the vocalist. jian yi has a very boisterous, outgoing personality, and is far from shy so this role, usually put at the forefront + center of attention, wouldn’t particularly bother him. and not only does he seem comfortable enough for the part — as you, I, and apparently some others believe, it looks to be that there is a silver microphone peeking through, hiding behind zhan zheng xi’s drum set. of course this is just speculation, but it very closely resembles microphones that have a flat top and doesn’t look like it could be much else. its seems to be that zhan zheng xi and jian yi like to keep their instruments together backstage from the official illustrations provided; however, there is a reason I believe zhan zheng xi wouldn’t be the singer out of the two which I will get to later. I imagine jian yi to look something like this:
singing with his guitar in his hands (illustration taken from the promotion of the anime ‘given’ which will be coming out soon). and here is a quote that old xian put in their new artbook (it goes with the illustration of zhanyi wearing matching rings and jian yi with his nails painted black) translated by the lovely @thingsthatfml.

it’s a nice quote and its one I see in the point of view of jian yi who may be feeling a bit nervous before a show; he goes to find comfort and the feeling of protection from his safe haven, the love of his life — and sits beside zhan zheng xi who has sworn him protection since they were young and has always showed him the most care and love in his life. if you would like, check out this amazing fanart of jian yi singing made by trmk1. it is one of my favorite fanarts of him ever.
zhan zheng xi is the drummer:
as shown in the illustrations above, zhan zheng xi is displayed holding drumsticks in his hands with his deep red drum set nearby him — so it’s automatically a given by old xian that zhan zheng xi would be the drummer, and it makes sense because it fits his personality well. its an instrument that is never typically in the front and center and is usually in the background, which goes well with his very ‘keep to myself’ (unless you’re jian yi) personality; now while I don’t think zhan zheng xi is shy, he is not outgoing either. zhan zheng xi is sociable when needed to be but isn’t one to want the spotlight on himself so this is why, for me, he wouldn’t be the vocalist (even though his deep, husky singing voice would no doubt be hot, him being the vocalist in a band doesn’t feel as though it goes with his personality). drummers are also usually the main one responsible for the rhythm of a song, generating a beat and timing for others to follow. drummers also need to know how to accentuate/highlight the rhythms, volume, and have speedy reflexes to go well with certain instruments or quick vocal changes — a responsibility which would be handled well with a serious man like zhan zheng xi.
he tian is the bassist:
he tian would be the one to play the bass guitar. as shown above, his guitar is black and white with 6 strings. a bass guitar usually has anywhere from 4-6 strings. the sounds of a bass guitar in contrast to a regular one is that a bass guitar’s notes are about an octave lower — it sounders deeper than a normal guitar, which is what jian yi and mo would play. bass guitars are also usually a bit larger with a longer neck than regular guitars. I see he tian as the type to try to chase and master something that would be more of a challenge for him, so he would probably go with the one with more strings (plus as shown in the image above, his guitar has 6 strings). bass guitars are also known to be an instrument that works well with the drum set to create a good, cohesive rhythm and/or harmony. the bass guitar is probably something he would master quickly. he tian would probably be the second likely one to sing if not jian yi, given that he is also outgoing like jian yi and doesn’t appear to be very shy; however, to me, he doesn’t seem the type to be the first one to jump at the opportunity to sing either.
mo guan shan is another guitarist:
like jian yi, mo seems to be interested in guitars as heavily hinted in chapter 226 when he passes by a store displaying guitars and he seems to pause and stare at them longingly. normal guitars usually give the player more freedom to go off script with its lighter sounds and for mo it would fit him best because he could control how intricate (or not) he wants his sounds to be, how much attention he wants to attract with it etc., and given his nature of wanting to be as far away from the spotlight as possible, this would be the most comfortable role for him since he would have control over the amount of attention he could grab, essentially just doing what makes him most comfortable. out of everyone he is the least likely to be the vocalist as it wouldn’t fit his character, because being the vocalist usually means being at the forefront and center of display and that is exactly what he despises the most — it’s makes him extremely uncomfortable and he hates, hates, hates it which is also one of the reasons why in chapter 216 he didn’t want to be a model even though the job had good pay.
so in conclusion, I think their band roles are: jian yi = vocalist & guitarist, zhan zheng xi = drummer, he tian = bassist, and mo guan shan = guitarist.

The Xylo ARG: a summary
Have you or someone you follow been getting cryptic asks like the one above? They always just say one of the two following things:

Well, good work, you’ve managed to stumble into a new tumblr ARG which I’ve taken to calling the “Xylo ARG” or “Shiloh ARG”. I’ve already talked about this on my blog already, but I thought it might be a good idea to have a post summarizing what the hell is up with these asks and what the deal with this ARG is.

If you haven’t already read my previous post about this, you should check that out. It includes some speculation and theories that I didn’t include in this post, most notably my theories about this string of characters being a UUID, as well as some observations that this hex number actually corresponds to 5 unique colors encoded in hexadecimal.
Since my previous post, there’s been some developments, but sadly I and the others I’ve been discussing this with over discord haven’t come up with any major leads, or if we have, they haven’t led anywhere yet.
That being said, I thought it might be useful to make a post summarizing some of what we already know about this. I’ve never done an ARG and don’t even really know much about them, but I was one of the people sent one of these asks so in a way I’m a small part of it now. I figured I’d make this post since I think I was the first person to really analyze what was going on here and notice that there’s an actual blog associated with these asks people have been getting. Obvs a lot of these discoveries weren’t made by me tho, I’ve not devoted much time to discovering things, there’s a few others involved in trying to figure this out too. (y’all, feel free to hop in the replies/reblogs if you want people to know you’re helping with this).
Anyways, let’s get onto the actual post. This might get lengthy, so it’ll be below the cut. Heads up- this post contains creepy imagery, depictions which might be described as “body horror”, as well as mentions of parental abuse. All posts referenced should have a link provided unless they were deleted before the creation of this post. Got it? Let’s dive in.
First off, let’s recap on how this all started, and how me and a few others came to realize that this was, indeed, an ARG we’re looking at. (Presumably, anyways- all of the happenings are too strange to just be the work of some crafty aesthetic blogger… probably.)
It all started with a couple of popular tumblr users getting asks like the one linked at the top of the post here. Just this cryptic hexadecimal string, sometimes with hyphens, sometimes without. It’s unclear how many people these anonymous asks were sent to, but if you look up the text you’ll find a couple other popular tumblr users that were sent the ask. It’s always anonymous, and I don’t know of anyone who’s received direct messages from the blog owner(s).
After pondering it a bit, I decided to look up the ask I got on tumblr, and noticed a blog which had this string of characters as its url. And that’s where things started getting interesting.
The blogs
The main blog relating to this ARG appears to be https://xylophonetic.tumblr.com/. Her URL has changed a couple times since we first discovered it, the url was originally a303d61a3714b71b459a9e65921078. From now on I’ll be referring to this blog/blog owner as “Shiloh”, as that is and has been the name stated on the blog. (Also- her pronouns are she/hers as mentioned here.)
There is also another blog relating to this story, which I hadn’t mentioned in the previous post (because at the time we did not know about it / it had not been created yet). This blog originally had the url a303d61a, but has since taken the previous URL that shiloh used: https://a303d61a3714b71b459a9e65921078.tumblr.com/
This new blog was originally titled “Safe?”, and doesn’t appear to have any name associated as far as anyone can tell, so from here on I’ll be referring to them as “safe”. It’s unclear if “safe” is a character that has been mentioned by Shiloh before, but it’s certain that they are associated with the ARG because they swapped urls with shiloh. At time of writing, the “Safe?” blog has had its title changed twice, first to a series of three emojis, then to an eye emoji. We will continue to call them “Safe” until there is a more appropriate name discovered/decided on.
There is also, technically, a third blog- this blog uses the URL previously used by Safe, and it appears that this blog may just be for keeping the url hoarded. However, there’s still some interesting things on this blog, and even some possible hints. The blog is https://a303d61a.tumblr.com/ and will go unnamed unless things begin to appear on that blog as well.
Okay, now that we know a bit about how this started, and what blogs to be on the lookout for, what is there to know? Well, if you take a look at Shiloh’s blog, you might not even realize what you’re looking at is a part of an ARG at first. From first glance, it honestly just looks like an average aesthetic blog. She reblogs lots of aesthetic type posts from various bloggers, a lot of which may not mean much in the long run, but some of the posts she reblogs do give a bit of insight on some of the different “characters” in this emerging story. However, she also sometimes posts very cryptic things- many original posts contain very strange and cryptic photos or text that’s been purposefully obfuscated or otherwise altered. The same string of text “a303d61a…” is present throughout the blog’s history. There’s also other posts from Shiloh that imply that she is (or, was) in danger, or that she was sick, that she’s afraid of certain other characters, etc.
So, these “characters”… who are they? There are quite a few distinct “characters” involved in this, some seemingly more relevant than others. I’ll give a brief overview of what we know about all of them, but first, I should say what is known about the central character here: Shiloh.
Shiloh
While we don’t know a lot about Shiloh herself, there are a few things we can say for sure. Shiloh likes to reblog things she likes or thinks are interesting, much like your run of the mill aesthetic blogger. However, she also posts her own strange, cryptic photos sometimes- often times with many filters and photo manipulation used to make them look strange or hard to decipher.
Shiloh seems prone to deleting posts often, for one reason or another- or posting things then rapidly deleting them. This has been noted to happen even late into the night without much rhyme or reason. The “Safe?” blog is sometimes used to archive some of these deleted posts, although not all of the important/noteworthy posts are actually saved in this way. Shiloh has even been shown to go back and frequently edit old posts, sometimes multiple times. Her (and the other blogs’) urls, titles, icons, blog colors and headers have been known to change at random.
She also seems to not have total control over her blog/account- she’s posted before about her url or icon changing out of her control, and seeming confused or upset by it. See here. She’s also posted before about how she’s “regaining control” and such.
As well, it seems that for a time, Shiloh fell ill with some unknown ailment. Or rather, unknown to her- “they won’t tell me”. It’s unknown who “they” is in this context, but Shiloh seemed sad that she could not see Nat any longer- and also that her mother was preventing her from going out due to this illness. Notably, after posting this, she posted “im not a monster im not”. Perhaps people, possibly her mother, were telling her her illness made her monstrous??
Yesterday evening (may 16), she posted that her fever is gone and she is doing better now. Perhaps she has recovered from her illness– although she still seems confused about what is happening.
Aside from those things, she has also posted a photo here, tagged as “#me”:

There’s a lot of uncanny images like this on her blog, and I can’t include every one of them- but this is, supposedly, Shiloh. There’s also another post in her “#me” tag, but it is simply a reblog of some art. Not sure if it is important.
Safe?
I’ve covered most of what we currently know about Shiloh herself, but there are many other “characters” at play in this story. Most of these characters we only know about based upon things Shiloh has said about them, or posts she has tagged them in. “Safe?”, on the other hand, we only know about from their blog, and how they interact with Shiloh.
Safe is a bit of a mystery right now. It’s unclear if they(?) are even one of the characters mentioned by Shiloh or not, or if they are an outsider completely. Regardless of who they are, they seem hostile towards Shiloh.
Safe’s blog was not known until two days ago (may 15th) around ~4pm. When we discovered it, our initial thought was that the blog could be unrelated to the ARG itself, and it could potentially just be somebody who was following along and taking time out to archive the posts. Shiloh is known to delete posts sometimes after all, including ones that seem pretty important.
As time would tell though, it became clear that Safe is another actor in this story, although they seem to be even more mysterious than Shiloh.
Safe seems to reblog many of Shiloh’s original posts, sometimes adding tags or even editing the post in certain ways. We have reason to suspect that Safe is a malevolent force, as they have reblogged the photo of Shiloh and tagged the picture “#it”, in spite of her specifically requesting not to be called it. They’ve also reblogged posts from her that say “cold” and tagged it “freeze”, and a post saying “warm” with the tag “burn”, as if wishing harm on Shiloh.
Nonetheless, some of the most compelling clues we’ve gotten yet have come from the Safe blog. Particularly, it was the Safe blog which posted the following:
Sadly, the post was later deleted from both blogs, and there is no web archive of it, or fullsize versions of the right and left pictures. Here’s the fullsize of the center picture, though:
This post originally came from Shiloh’s blog, although I believe the images were not in the original post– Safe seems to have a habit of editing Shiloh’s posts and adding new things.
These pictures are tantalizing because of the caption: “room 371″. If you’ll notice, 371 is a subset of the string of text tying all of this together…

The significance of this is currently unknown. However, there was some speculation that Shiloh may have been hospitalized due to her illness- these images do look somewhat like a hospital. However, this conflicts with what Shiloh herself has said- she is at home. So, what is room 371? We just don’t know, at the moment.
Another series of posts from Safe that just happened today only further the mysteries surrounding them. Today, they reblogged the post in which Shiloh said her fever was gone and edited the text to make it say “SHE MADE ME SICK”. It’s unclear who “she” is, in this context- but this seems important.
Also today, safe changed their blog title from “Safe?” to a series of three emojis- a safety pin, an old key, and a dagger. This is significant because of another thing I’ll bring up later. At time of posting, they’ve changed their blog title yet again to be just an eye emoji.
Beyond the posts about room 371, and other mysterious edits and reblogs of Shiloh’s content, not much is known for sure about Safe. There are some theories that Safe is actually Shiloh’s mother, or that they are a reflection of Shiloh’s inner thoughts and feelings about herself, but for the time being these are simply theories with not enough proof to back them up yet.
Other Characters (Nat, Melody, Zach, Brian)
Now, it is time to get into the other named characters in all of this. These other characters we only know about from things that Shiloh has said, or posts that she has reblogged and tagged in their name. For some characters, we only know of them at all due to her tags.
First, let’s start with “Nat”. Nat is one of Shiloh’s best friends, and clearly someone she cares about a lot. Shiloh was very sad when she could no longer see her after falling ill. A scroll through Shiloh’s Nat tag will show a variety of posts, although there seem to be some strong connections to love, tarot, and cats. Also, sometimes, space.
Something interesting to note is that in the tags of this post, Shiloh seemed to imply that Nat also has a blog, but “she changed urls”, and Shiloh doesn’t seem to know what her url is anymore, simply saying “weird”. While this is purely speculation, it’s possible that Nat’s blog could have been tampered with, in the same way that Shiloh’s was previously (possibly by the person who runs the Safe blog?)
After Nat, we have a minor character: Melody. It’s possible they could be more important, but right now, I can’t find any posts where Shiloh directly mentions melody- we only know of melody from various posts tagged with that name. Interestingly, one of the earliest posts on the blog (and an original post, too) depicts a pair of boots and is tagged as “#melody”. There’s a slight pattern of celestial bodies and plants, but nothing too significant to comment on here.
After Melody is another minor character: Zach. Here’s Shiloh’s #zach tag. A common theme here seems to be certain mammals (an opossum and a squirrel) and two pictures of pocket knives. Recently, Shiloh has posted that zach is a friend of hers. Other than that, not much is known of Zach.
That brings us to Brian- another interesting character. Here’s Shiloh’s #brian tag. There’s a few original posts here, with some cartoon characters dancing and hugging. There’s also the same pocket knives that zach was tagged in.
On the surface there might not seem to be a lot here about Brian, but in actuality I have reason to suspect that Brian may be Shiloh’s brother. I believe our first hint at this was this post:
It would make sense that her brother would be there at her home, albeit unexpectedly. Another post that re-affirms this hunch is this now deleted post:
the tag #brother was put alongside #brian here. Also, there is this post which also mentions there being a brother:
There may be other characters, as there are a lot of tags in use on the blog. However, these 4 are the most obvious ones, having names that are… just ordinary people names.
Mother and Father
Beyond the already named characters, there’s two more distinct characters mentioned on Shiloh’s blog- “Mother” as well as “Father”. There are very few posts about Father, but a great deal about Mother. I’ll just preface this right now by saying that Shiloh’s mother seems abusive and openly hostile/aggressive towards Shiloh. As for her father, not much is known of him, but he seems to be absent from Shiloh’s life, likely due to having divorced her mother at some point in the past.
If you take a quick scroll through her #mother tag, you can see that there is a strong association with birds. This seems like a very consistent thing- perhaps Shiloh’s mother is a bird. Or maybe she just connects her with birds for some reason. Either way, if there’s bird imagery, there’s a good chance that it relates to Shiloh’s mother (although there was one bird image tagged as #brian, too).

It’s also been shown that Shiloh’s mother tells her she can’t go out and can’t see nat anymore due to her illness. I also speculated earlier that her mother may have been the one to call her a “monster”.

There’s a lot of hidden text in this image, including the mysterious hex string, as well as phrases and words such as “fear of the heart of love”, “like anything”, etc. It is a bit hard to make out, and difficult to reverse all the filters done to make the text illegible to begin with.
Adding to the series of mysteries surrounding Mother, earlier today Shiloh posted a series of pictures that appear to depict a path to a river. When asked about them, Shiloh stated that “mom doesnt like the river”, and that “she thinks its dirty or something”. Curiously, she says that her mom is scared of fish.
There have also been some theories that Mother is the one running Safe’s blog, antagonizing Shiloh when she gets the chance. There’s credence given to this theory by taking into account this post, where Shiloh talks about having her blog changed without her control over it. In the post, you can see that her icon was changed to this image:
An edited version of the full photo remains on Safe’s blog. This is a photo that was created by a neural network (source), and contains many bird-like features, so we’ve taken to calling this picture “mother bird”. The fact that Shiloh’s icon was changed to this while the blog was not under her control seems to imply that her mother was the one messing with her blog. Considering how much urls swapped between Safe and Shiloh, it seems as though there’s a link between Mother and Safe, although, again, this is speculation.
There is also this post on Safe’s blog, which depicts feathers / knives side by side, along with a caption from Shiloh saying “she’s coming”:
The post is now deleted from Shiloh’s blog. Given the feathers/bird motif here, and referring to a hostile entity as “she”, it’s probably safe to assume that Shiloh was referring to Mother.
At the very least, we can say that both Mother and Safe are openly hostile/antagonistic towards Shiloh, if not the same person.
As for “father”, there’s only a few posts referring to a father, and only recently have there been any original posts. Shiloh seems to associate him with suited businessmen, and there are many posts implying that her parents had a very testy relationship. It seems as though they divorced, and now Shiloh’s father is no longer in her life. Aside from some possible resentment possibly stemming from him not being there any longer, it’s hard to say much about Father, other than that he’s not around any longer.
Other tags
There are many tags in use on Shiloh’s blog, many of them seemingly mundane, something you’d expect from any run of the mill aesthetic blog. Still, there are a few tags which incite some intrigue, or are worth speculating about.
One such tag is #home. Shiloh makes many references to “home”- never “my house” or “where i live” or any other word- only ever referring to it as simply “home”. The images in the tag are often very lush and green depictions of nature- they could just be pictures of landscapes, or sometimes they are pictures of humble cottages in the wilderness. Sometimes they can depict houses that are rotting and decaying. All these pictures seem to signify what “home” is to Shiloh, and I think that “home” is a specific location.
To back up this theory, there’s also the tag #camp. There’s not a lot in this tag, but it seems to evoke this feeling of some summer camp or something that Shiloh went to once perhaps. Maybe “camp” could come up again in later posts? I guess we’ll see.
There’s also the tag #you, which would seem to be the opposite of the #me tag. However, there’s just some songs and other various reblogs in this tag.
Misc. observations / speculation
The new(?) blog at the url https://a303d61a.tumblr.com/ may be otherwise empty, but the blog’s title and description are somewhat curious. As of time of writing, this is the entire contents of their blog:

Also worth noting, is that these three emojis were briefly displayed as the title of Safe’s blog earlier today.
I get the feeling that these emojis may be a pretty significant hint. Something that reinforces this suspicion in me is the fact that Safe made a post tagging Shiloh’s blog, similar to how this new blog made a post tagging Safe. However, the post Safe made includes a safety pin emoji, which is one of the three emojis included in this blog’s title.
This is purely speculation, so feel free not to believe me, or reinterpret it how you wish of course, but: Perhaps Shiloh’s blog is like a safety pin, holding the story as we know it together. But, what we really need to find is the key. The key will lead us further, until we find the dagger.
I also find the emojis used in the description curious, because Shiloh has posted pictures of scissors (actually, lawn clippers?) before. Additionally, Safe has made a post about teeth and eyes hurting before. Interestingly, this post was edited from the original– Shiloh’s post was about her mother seeming angry, but Safe changed it to say “teeth hurt eyes hurt”.
Another potential lead that @ skippsblipps discovered, was a pattern in this old post from Shiloh.
Aside from the obvious secret message mixed in amongst the text, there seems to be a pattern of when the “a303d…” string of text repeats, and when there is something other than the original “a303d…” string. In their words:
“if we count only where the code was exactly the original code, its 6 , 1 , 2 , 1 , 4 , 2
if we count where the code deviates, its 1 , 3 , 3 , 3 , 1″
There’s a chance that this post could be absolutely random nonsense, or that we were only meant to look for the words within the text, but perhaps there’s something more here.
Closing thoughts
I said it at the start, and I’ll say it again: I don’t know a damn thing about ARGs. And, hell, after spending hours compiling stuff for this post, I’m still pretty clueless about where this one might lead. My main hope with this post was to inform anyone who’s curious about this ARG about what we’ve discovered so far, as well as to fill people in who may have missed stuff.
Also, I’d like to apologize if this post jumps topics around a lot, or if it can be a bit hard to follow. Honestly I think that’s just a result of all of the different loose ends in this ARG being hard to follow themselves, although I tried my best. I had to keep updating this post as I typed it, because new posts kept coming in and new discoveries/speculation kept happening. So, sorry for any confusion.
Sadly, many posts on both blogs end up getting deleted, and never archived. That’s why I’ve taken the liberty to archive each and every single post and tag I linked to in this breakdown on the internet archive, which is also why this took hours to make this post because I had to ctrl+c and ctrl+v like a million times. If you notice any of the links I put in this post are broken, just paste the url into the wayback machine and you should at least pull up the archive that I took at the time of typing this post. I couldn’t archive every single thing on all these blogs, just the stuff that I thought was relevant.

Also please don’t expect me to answer all your asks & speculation, I did this post because it seems like nobody else is paying attention to this and I thought it was cool and deserved some time and attention. I just want to thank you for keeping this public. I have promoted you on Twitter and will continue to do so. I want to help in any way I can.
I debated all morning on how to reply to this. I know this is reference to Melinda making her blog private for Tumblr users only, and I think it’s important for me to express my opinion on that situation.
But first: thank you for the Twitter promotion! I have a Twitter account, but I admit I rarely use it (because I find it confusing to use lol). It’s @july_skies !
Regarding Melinda’s decision to privatize her blog: I support it. She works hard on her content and deserves to feel that people who like it will be capable of supporting it in a direct way (reblogs specifically). Nothing sucks more than making stuff and seeing that nobody’s looking at it or enjoying it, and whether or not that’s what it seems like to (general) you, that’s how it comes across when people don’t reblog her stuff. It’s depressing. It’s like she’s throwing her hard work right into the void.
While I’m on the subject, I’d like to talk about content creation a little more, to help give you guys a better idea of fandom and your place as a consumer of fanworks; I know a lot of you might be new to the concept, and you can’t know if nobody thinks to tell you.
For my “credentials,” let’s just say I’ve been a content creator for more than half my life and there’s something we lifers call fandom participation or fandom engagement. They are more or less the same thing, and the terminology boils down to us answering this question: “How is the fandom at large engaging with our content?”
In the last handful of years, participation is down across the board. When I first got into writing fanfiction I’d get at least 40 comments on anything I wrote. Many of my works ended up with 60+ comments on them!
Now I’m lucky if anyone comments at all, especially in this fandom. Again, it’s a problem everywhere, but I still get comments on fanfic I posted five years ago in other fandoms; meanwhile, this one remains relatively silent.
I post on AO3 for two big reasons. 1) ACCESSIBILITY. AO3′s site layout is easy to read! It’s easy to format! It’s friendly to people with issues seeing small print! And then we have 2) I do it to give people the option of commenting anonymously (in case they’re shy or nervous).
Having an account there isn’t required at all. People just choose not to engage with me when I post fanfiction.
It feels bad to spend hours of your time on something only to see 0 notes/comments/likes/reblogs/whatever on it later. Four ‘likes’ doesn’t feel that good either. Did people actually like it? Are they pity-likes? Do they even care? People mindlessly ‘like’ a lot of things; maybe they did that with your content, too. I’m not saying I don’t enjoy seeing ‘likes’ but a ‘like’ is more or less an acknowledgement that they’ve seen the content, not that they enjoyed it or want more of it.
Also, likes/kudos don’t draw in more readers: comments do. When a reader’s scrolling down the front page of their favorite AO3 fandom, they click on the ‘fics that look like they might be ‘good’ and even though it’s not always TRUE that the ‘best’ stories have the most comments, a lot of readers filter by the number of comments!
Comments tell other readers: this is worth checking out!
Let’s look at a quick example of one of my ‘fics:
This is from my AO3 account, a random WCtH fanfic. It’s not a long one, but it’s not short either. It’s a reasonable read in terms of time spent to read it, and as you can see 185 people clicked on it, 14 people ‘liked’ it (kudos are “likes”), and I have two comments: one of those comments is @trash-god and the other is me replying to her comment.
Her comment isn’t ‘less than’ because she’s a close friend, but she and I spoke at length about this story on Discord and her comment was just a nice little ‘addition’ to that conversation. Sure, the story’s about characters not many people care about, but look at that: 185 hits on the story. 14 likes. And only one person who read it took five seconds to leave a comment? Really? What about the 13 other people who ‘liked’ it?
What this says to me as a creator is that the ONLY person who is going to comment is the one person who might feel obligated to, and if that’s the case, why don’t I just save my stories to show her privately? Why bother posting them out into the void to hear nothing but silence from everyone else?
This is the direction that @whencallstheheart is coming from. What’s the point of spending hours creating these things when nobody interacts with you? Posting to silence feels bad. And look, to put it into perspective, editing gifs to post, writing fanfic, doing write-ups, maintenance of a blog, site, or social media presence: it’s super time-consuming.
Melinda and I both work full-time jobs as it is. My job hit full busy season and I’m even getting overtime now. I’m in training to take over the department next year and I’m tired at the end of the day. When I get home I have eight cats, a house to take care of, and a spouse, not to mention my in-laws live right next door and need help sometimes. We also have a property we just planted 1500 trees on by hand that we have to monitor, and my husband owns a house we rent to someone that needs work done on it, too. Sometimes, life is busy.
And don’t get me wrong! I enjoy creating, just like I’m sure Melinda does. I feel awful if I can’t “create.”
But if my choices are:
work for five hours on a fanfic or episode write-up only to get 4 likes on it, OR
play a video game or watch a movie or read a book or sit on the deck watchin’ the sun go down while I work on a crocheting project…
The latter definitely appeals to me more knowing I have to get up in the morning to go back to work again. My time is worth something. Neither Melinda nor I are getting paid to create this content. We put it together for free, in what spare time we have, in the midst of our own chaotic lives. My website costs me a chunk of money every year to keep up and running ad-free, and I could get all 1500 trees weeded in the amount of time it takes me to put together an episode write-up or decent fanfic.
All content creators ask for in exchange for their free labor is a sense of community, and that can be anything from:
comments on fanfics you enjoyed, even if they are just to say, “I read this and enjoyed it.”
messages that say, “I really like how [this edit you did] turned out.”
reblogs on Tumblr, retweets on Twitter, emails to website owners
you can even create your own blog and use it to begin conversations with those creators!
You guys have been pretty good about engaging with the show itself through us, but don’t forget to engage with the content you enjoy seeing that comes about because of the show.
Fandom content keeps the show alive even when it’s not currently airing, and supporting content creators keeps them creating. Everyone wins, then!
To talk specifically about written content...
Readers are the ones who ensure more material is created. Hands down.
And again: I love writing!! I DO. I’ve been writing seriously for more years of my life than I haven’t been writing seriously! But it’s disheartening to post a fanfic and get my one obligation comment.
Now, it’s fine if you don’t read fanfiction or even enjoy it. It’s also fine if the things I’ve posted aren’t to your specific tastes. Trust me, I get it; nobody is obligated to comment on my fanfiction, and I don’t want anyone to feel that they should be.
But please know this: if you do enjoy something, whether it’s fanfic or edits or something else, you NEED to engage with it, or it WILL disappear. People don’t like talking to walls. It’s frustrating and it isn’t a good use of their time.
(This is one of the reasons I haven’t bothered doing a novelization of the series. It could be fun, but for 0 comments it’s not worth spending the time on.)
Again, you guys have been great when it comes to engaging with the show material, particularly while the show is airing. It’s been fun speculating with you and hearing all of your different thoughts. I know sometimes Tumblr doesn’t make it easy to communicate, either, and you’ve all done a great job of getting around that.
But in between seasons things get slow on this blog and it’s hard for me (or anyone running a blog) to feel motivated to provide content of any sort if you’re not going to take the time to engage in it.
I’ll never mark this blog as private, but if I get to the point where I can’t get any engagement from the fans, I’ll shut it down. The point of having a “fandom blog” is to interact with other fans.
I enjoy providing content to you guys, but if participation drops off to nothing, I’ll be taking that as my signal that the audience is gone and my time would be better spent elsewhere.
So if you’re here and you’re enjoying things, don’t forget to take a little time out of your day to let your content creators know! Not just me and Melinda, of course, but your favorite people on Instagram, Twitter, and other sites as well. ♥ You might be surprised how happy they’ll be to receive interaction from other fans.

I don’t intend this as a slight against my anonymous friend up there AT ALL; I think it can be hard to be in fandom, especially if you’re newer to the scene. There’s a lot of history that’s long gone by now and missing out on it means it’s harder to step into fandom without also accidentally stepping on toes.
Sometimes we take for granted that we have an almost unlimited supply of fanfiction, gifs, memes, blogs, and so on at our disposal. But none of that comes from thin air and it never did. It’s the cumulative hard work of millions of people throwing their hearts and souls into something they’re passionate about in an effort to engage with other fans.
I hope this helped put things into perspective a bit!! Sending love at all of you that stuck around this far; I know it was quite a bit of a ramble LOL!

Daenerys Meta Masterpost Part 1b - ASOIAF
This is a continuation of my Daenerys Meta Masterpost Part 1.
I’ve compiled more than 2000 metas about Daenerys, both about the books and the show, and I intend to constantly update this post with more metas. The metas listed here will be linked to their reblogs in my blog, (since many people tend to change their usernames, and I don’t want the links to stop working in this case).
