bathing your accidentally acquired son

One of my favourite genres has turned out to be “grumpy and tried morally grey character accidentally (and begrudgingly) adopts a kid who just keeps repeatedly out sassing them.”

Because it’s just fucking hysterical to watch this character go “ah, I am the most feared person in all- HEY! I SAID DON’T TOUCH THAT!!” And somehow still have a tiny little gremlin of a child running laps around them twenty minutes later.

Heres the first of a few doodles i had planned.

I was bored so i made this ahead of time but i hope you are ready for wet cat energy eda.

King: “Honestly, I am so evil. So full of darkness. I feed off the souls of the living, I strike fear into-”

Eda: “You sleep with a teddybear.”

King: “He’s my SECOND IN COMMAND, IN MY ARMY OF DARKNESS!”

It was Eda. King is playing catch with Eda like he wanted to play with his dad. He's playing with her cause Eda is his mother *sobs*

i desperately need a scene where eda finally calls king her son. or king to call her mom. I NEED IT. others have called king nephew/grandson before, but not eda. she still thinks she’s not good enough for it and i love her for that, but do it girl. make me SOB. i am so ready

There’s something so beautiful and so distinctly Owl House about the final fight scene being Luz, King, Eda and Raine vs Belos. This show lived and breathed for found family. It, at its core, was about finding a place where your “strange” qualities that everyone else had found bad, could be accepted and celebrated.

Found family is such a comforting trope, especially for Queer people. It’s a hopeful note that despite rejection, there’s a home waiting for you with people who want to give you nothing but a kind of love that comes from being misunderstood.

The Owl House is an ode to the little girl in me who sat alone at lunch, wondering what she had done wrong to make peers so hateful. I know the 12 year old I was would have felt so much relief in this show. She isn’t wrong, she isn’t bad, she just is. Weirdos like you exist. I found my weirdos like Luz, King and Eda. I truly, really hope you find yours too.

This scene killed me - especially when Eda told the collector to stand back because she was certain she wouldn't be able to control herself. The animation was fucking amazing and I will forever miss this show.
