#easter egg connections

We all know about this, the fact El is wearing a shirt just like Weird Al’s on Dustin’s shirt. Cool easter egg tying the supernatural shit to the Russians, sure.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
However. That’s Dustin’s shirt from the “Evil Russian” flub up.
Tumblr media
Y’know, the guy who’s a Jamie/Henry lookalike?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Y’know. The Russia Plot. Involving Alexei…
Tumblr media
The Russian Scott Clarke. As identified by Jim Hopper, who canonically knows both Henry and El, and is heavily involved with both the Russia plot.
Tumblr media
Scott Clarke…Who’s a Weird Al fan??? Who is strangely knowledgeable about the science behind the supernatural, and who ought to know Henry based on a connection via Bob and the AV club.
Tumblr media
Everything is connected.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Wondering if/how Henry/Edward/Brenner are connected to Russia outside of El’s ST1 espionage 🤨🤨🤨
And it would be logical, then, to have a tie between Henry and Scott to complete the circle of connections between plots.

Haters fail to grasp that Taylor’s massive success isn’t due to any trends , it’s largely based on her relationship with US. If you don’t understand the lore of pen genres she’s not for you

unpopular opinion I guess but I think maybe not every surprise song choice or mashup is about joe or a hint at tortured poets....

I know some folks have been saying “Ed wanted to die in the same place he laid next to Stede-“ WRONG! HE WANTED TO DIE WHERE STEDE LAID NEXT TO HIM!!!
The place Auntie points out as being where his head was crushed by the cannon ball is the exact spot where Stede’s head had been during the arrest and that’s even more insane than the first option. (Anyway, I wanted to correct that assumption. It’s only a matter of like 2 feet, but I still find it an important detail, and figured a visual might help!)

Watching Jensen Ackles as Beau Arlen in Big Sky was a teensy bit surreal as it took me awhile to see Beau, instead of Dean the Sheriff. It didn't help matters that they scattered (veiled) references to Supernatural in a handful of episodes.
Tumblr media
Here are the ones I spotted:
Names his car [2x18] "No, no, I keep trying to go in there, but something always seems to stop me. Today it was Pedro. Sprung a leak on me."
Tumblr media
Gives salt as a housewarming gift [3x02] "And you're, uh, always protected."
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Has a sounds-like-trouble brother [2x18] "Shoot, you should meet my brother." [3x01] "I used to have something like this when I was a kid, till my brother ripped its head off, and then I put him in a headlock, and Mom beat the crap out of both of us." [3x04] "Interesting antiques. My brother used to drag me to places like this when we were kids."
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Occasionally calls Cassie Dewell Cass but it was in 3x13 that really brought it home [3x04] "Hey, Cass." [3x12] "You were right, Cass. Bunker near the hearts." [3x13] "Okay. I'm gonna call Cass. I want her on this with us. Let's move."
Honourable mention (foreshadow much?): [2x08] Episode soundtrack: Carry On Wayward Son by Kansas

I think Taylor often uses summer as a metaphor for coming out like daylight which makes sense since it’s a very sunny season and winter would then be the opposite of this. And it makes sense why folklore (spring/summer) and evermore (fall/winter) would directly follow lover if the failed coming out theories are correct. It was her way of processing these emotions.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think this is what the transition from august to illicit affairs is supposed to represent. The vibrant sunset and rainbow colors (lover era) drain away and turn into gray (folklore era)—“you showed me colors you know I can’t see with anyone else.” The sunset visuals during august also indicate that summer and daylight are indeed the same thing metaphorically since the sun is going away as she sings “so much for summer love.” She was so close to claiming her sunshine, both the concept and person, but it slipped away from her 💔
I think it’s very poetic that there’s an alternative ending on folklore. Hoax is one possible ending, “my eclipsed sun…this has frozen my ground” and she could’ve stayed frozen in that winter but the lakes offers a bit of hope, “A red rose grew up out of ice frozen ground” which indicates spring and summer have returned 🌹☀️ Similarly in the song evermore she decides to go back inside her warm cabin instead of staying out in the cold which she said represents finding hope again (48:00 of this vid). And to tie it all together she chose a cardigan, her “wool to brave the seasons,” as the main motif of folklore since this person kept her warm during that perilous winter.

It's so funny because all the hype around the dunmeshi anime is what finally got me to read it. And it was great! Incredible even! Ryoko Kui is a master of character design and world building!
But then I decided, "you know, I've read one manga on my "to-read" list, why not go ahead and do a couple more?" And then I read Girls' Last Tour and Shimeji Simulation.
And guess which one got more entrenched in my brain, the Incredibly Fleshed-Out And Rich Fantasy World, or the Weird Moeblob Slice Of Life Manga About Girls With Food In Their Hair?

i started replaying totk recently, i say replaying bc i did buy and play it when it was first released but dropped it after a couple days bc i was busy w stuff. and so i'm doing a lot of things now for the first time and obv i can't help comparing it to botw and it's genuinely got me so upset how link has been forgotten by so many people, all the people he helped in botw all the quests he did are just meaningless, all my registered horses were carried over but they couldn't keep the character interactions? all the champions are mentioned once with the exception of mipha there's no memories or divine beasts. the zora who had remembered link for 100 years had forgotten him since botw how is that possible. i had to make an ugly house near tarrey town to hang my weapons bc the hateno house was no longer mine 😭😭😭 somehow it made the game feel lonelier, even though botw was more empty there was much emotion in it.
it's not that i hated totk i liked exploring and finding new outfits, the dragons, rediscovering my favourite places etc but idk i was genuinely tearing up thinking about the champions being forgotten and all of link's previous sacrifices meaning nothing. sorry to send these random messages i don't follow anyone else who still blogs about zelda 😭😭
No, I know exactly what you mean! 😢 Honestly (lol can't remember if I've already said this before or not, so maybe I'm re-ranting here, but) my personal take is that totk shouldn't have been a sequel game, especially because Nintendo doesn't like to concern themselves with the continuity between games that a direct sequel like this just needs. With some tweaking/set up/rewriting, totk could have worked as a stand-alone story, and then they wouldn't have had to take away from what botw achieved in the name of making it more approachable to new players.
And yeah, I didn't hate it either! I liked the gameplay and the weapons system and the feeling of stakes whenever you entered a new town and saw how things had all gone to shit. Loved the wells. I just think it was too eager to pretend botw didn't exist while at the same time leaning on it so heavily that it would fall to pieces if you tried to extract the botw out of it :P

GUYS GUYSGUYS OH MY GOD. OHMMYGOD I JUST FIGURED SOMETHING OUT

so after joker gets hit by a train solomon gives him this mysterious green liquid. i've been wondering what it was, my first though was maybe there was an undiscovered lazarus pit in the sewers or something like that. but i was rereading task force z and
Tumblr media
it's lazarus resin!!!
Tumblr media
maybe grundy grabbed a vial when he tackled bloom? but either way that is definitely the same type of vial and the color is similar (not identical but that's likely bc different artists/colorists!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
my running assumption has been that this line was metaphorical but it's not! it's literal!!! joker DID die when he got hit by the train but grundy brought him back with a vial of lazarus resin!
and i've been making mental connections between tfz and tmwsl the entire time but it was kinda theoretical (and still is!) but the lazarus resin thing makes my theories more plausible for sure imo
so in tfz there are clones, amelia, delia, and celia. the powers company has cloning tech. and they also have memory replacement tech!!! that's what they did with the fake bane! they tampered with his memories. the thinker says that he has cognitive profiles of metahumans but in issue 12 bloom manages to resurrect a dead corpse with the powers company resources and make it think that it's jason todd/red hood, who is definitely not a meta, so evidently they have tech to do the same for non-metas
so my theories are that either:
1. they cloned joker and implanted memories in the clone. this could maybe connect to the network plot in the joker (2021)
2. they found a very fresh corpse with a striking resemblance to joker, and then maybe gave him a nice acid bath and implanted the memories (or they found a way to do this with living people)
i think it's highly likely at this point that sewer rat undead!joker is the real joker, especially after knight terrors. so now the question is: if i'm right about this, who's behind the other (LA) joker? harvey? did bloom somehow survive? geri powers? maybe even waller? and what are they up to? is LA joker an escaped experiment or does whoever's controlling him have an agenda?

Hi. Do you enjoy being sad? Do you want to become emotionally attached to two characters that you will only have for less than an hour? Do you get attached to robot and human friendships, and diving into how robots have humanity even if they insist they dont?
Come be sad with me about this life and blood pilot, this metal and oil mech, and their potentially-last conversation.

Is Miss Yewh in the Genswap AU?
Ms. Yewh has actually cameod in the AU already!
admittedly, she's a little hard to place if you don't know what to look for
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
generally, most of the background extras and one-off characters are made up of teachers and faculty. Like, the kids next to Yewh here are meant to be Mr. Rected and Ms. Herd:

To 'T' or No' to 'T': the Glottal Stop
Having recently read this great analysis on Crowley's phonetic choices, particularly his use of the plosive consonant, 't', my ear was suddenly sensitive to whenever he wasn't using them:
Tumblr media
Here, Quelin Sepulveda and David Tennant are both skipping over the plosive 't' in "not," speaking informally.
It sounds like Quelin could be using a glottal stop, if not just closing the tongue to the hard palette behind the teeth and instead of enunciating 't' moves on to sound the 'r' in 'really'; but David is opting for the glottal stop, i.e, stopping the flow of air by closing the back of the throat.
A glottal attack feels easier to explain: for words beginning with a vowel, it's a choice to either maintain an open throat (ideal for singing) or initiate the sound with a glottal attack. There is an audio demonstration "uh-uh" on the wikipedia page. The opposite is when cutting off air flow after a vowel and is called a glottal stop.
Looking where the furniture isn't: The Missing 'T'
No, not the disappearing, reappearing 't' from Gabriel's statue, though that could certainly be a subliminal clue, to look out and listen for the missing 't'
I knew that I was hearing a glottal stop (g.s) for what Mrs Sandwich says in her particular British-English dialect for episode five at The Ball, "An' no'(g.s) all the girls do i'(g.s)." "Not" is omitted and so it is incorrectly subtitled, "And all the girls do it."
Then I realised that by leaving out "not" it was actually a nod to the book, Good Omens, as given in this bit of trivia from x-ray episode 2 (especially regarding Mrs Sandwich's profession):
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like the Wicked Bible, 'not' is omitted from the subtitles.
As if planting the seed of thought, not long afterward are examples of the pronounced/enunciated/articulated 't':
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nothing like repetition to secure it in the noggin. Three times, naturally.
Ah, but in case the hint was too subtle - and this is where I first started to realise they were really making a lot out of "not" and the missing 't'; recognising a learning technique from my choir singing days, "this way, that way, this way" or "with-without-with" - let's go full-circle and hear the glottal stop once more:
