Handdyed some yarn to make ornaments and I am in loooooove they’re so pretty!

Massive disappoint and frustration. When I was finishing this handspun I noticed that the purple colour was bleeding A LOT in the cold water washes.

Bleeding yarn is bad as any wool you knit with it will get bled into the next time you wash it. So I attempted to fix the issue. Hot vinegar baths set the purple but did nothing for the red bleeding…so I went hardcore with RIT dye fixative…which did nothing, meanwhile the white parts of the yarn were getting more and more purply-pink!

I gave up & contacted the fibre club about it, as I certainly don’t expect to pay for spinning fluff that bleeds this bad, especially when their response indicated the bleeding issue from the sari silk neps in their fibre/yarn was known. They were very nice about negotiating a rectification though which was nice.

Preview of my first hand dyed warp! These are Dharma Fiber Reactive Dyes. From left to right: Hot Pink, Dark Green, Sky Blue, Fire Red, Hydrangea, and Lemon Yellow. I used 1/2 teaspoon of dye in half a cup of water, except for dark green and fire red. For those, I used 1 teaspoon per half a cup of water. The fiber is 5/2 mercerized cotton.

Dried and in the sunlight ! Okay, so . I’m REALLY happy with how this has turned out, honestly? I really really am! Just!!!! Look at it!!!

Look at that blushed pink! Look at that back and forth of rose and magenta! I love it I love I love it so much!

It was my first time trying out dying yarn, and I of course did not use any timers or let things soak nearly as long as I should have but regardless, really, I am so very happy with what I made! I am thinking of trying again, with some more cotton yarns.

Okay raking leaves may not be the best Fall activity but gathering them up and throwing them all around you is a seasonal must 🥰 that feeling is 100% bottled up in this colorway! Shades of brown throughout with HEAVY amounts of crimson, rich green, brown, and dark blue speckles.

Inspired by @mewithoutyou ‘s fourth album It’s All Crazy! It’s All False! It’s All a Dream! It’s Alright which I may have used one of this album’s song for a Sign Language project in college. 🧡

As someone who crochets (poorly) I felt that I needed to share this.

A sweater for niece with some pink hearts (the pink is hand dyed, I wanted to go for a soft pastel pink, with confetti like other Coors (blue, gry, violet) but moved the yarn way to much 😅)

Finally picked a project to make with my Haunted colorway, so I had an excuse to cake them.

And then also broke down/remembered to buy a black light to take pictures...

Did I mention that Haunted is UV reactive??
