As someone who crochets (poorly) I felt that I needed to share this.
I came across this seller and am now obsessed with their colored yarns. Their shop name is Nerdy Knits Yarn, here is their website (leading directly to their Stardew Valley inspired yarns.)
A sweater for niece with some pink hearts (the pink is hand dyed, I wanted to go for a soft pastel pink, with confetti like other Coors (blue, gry, violet) but moved the yarn way to much 😅)
I dyed this to pair with Haunted, and named it Batty.
I dyed these as they were twisted up, so the black and grey would not get to everything... I originally wanted to dye pastels into the white spots, but liked how smokey this felt.
Etsy is offering zero transaction fees for sellers for a limited time! (Until February 15th). That means all the money you pay for an item goes directly to the seller (me!) if you use my link! So if you have the cash, I would really appreciate you taking a look at my shop during this period
dyed this yarn yesterday & I love it. Not sure what to knit with it yet, though, it's knitpicks wool of the Andes, sport weight, about 270ish yards if I remember right.
I won yarn chicken with about four yards of yarn left in the skein. Whoo for me, I did the spinning maths correctly.
However. .....
I tend to forget that I'm not a tiny person like my grandmother was. She was barely 5 foot tall and a size 6 waist, her entire life. Whereas I'm over 6 ft tall and a size 14 at my thinnest. Plus I have longer than usual limbs thanks to a genetic defect. Don't ask me how I can forget this shit, I just have zero body awareness.
So when I decided to do the layering shrug by juju vail it never occurred to me that the person who wrote the pattern made it for someone my grandmother's size, not mine.
Even with the magic of blocking, it's gonna be more bolero than shrug on me. To have it be more properly sized, I figure I would have needed to dye, spin, and knit up twice the amount of fiber and yarn than I did. It's never gonna be something that I can wear layered over anything. Though I do have a spaghetti strap teal linen dress that would look spectacular with it, so maybe not all is lost.
But I don't foresee the need to knit up the tie strings that are supposed to go through the border edge and keep the shrug on the body. This thing is snug.
It sure does look pretty though, even if I do say so myself.
slubby yarn first ever fingering sweater first ever fingering weight anything but enjoy so far. fingering weight sweater take less weight of fiber because thinner but also mean take long time.
90 superwash merino / 10 nylon don’t usually knit super wash because stretch when wash if not careful. knit wool sweater in 40°C weather 👍
color super super nice was at first worried about too much too busy but color pretty and it good kind of busy on purpose and depend on how finish look like maybe even can be part of decora kei outfit
Soooooo the poll said I shall work with the plant dyed Merino
And I found 4 patterns I like!
Help me decide? Pls?
The yarn in question: SW Merino light fingering around 400meter/437yards
The patterns:
Edit: no cardigan, after more research, indefinitely don't have enough yarn...
very cute cowl, and i think the pattern could show the color really well!
Lace with beads?? do i need to say more, to me this looks like artistic interpretation of dragon wings... but maybe doesn`t show the varigation of the color really well...
a second cowl, a bit wider, i think it would be really cute to have it drape over my shoulders, and warm, and the color should show well...
I decided to dye some yarn for a crochet sweater I want to make. This is the single ply super wash wool base I use. It's fingering weight, so I need to hold double for the pattern's DK.
I did my best to try and plan how I dyed the yarn to work well for holding the two colors. (Because I guess just dyeing 6 of the same color was too boring? Idk) I've never tried to dye for a speciffic project or pattern before, so it was a bit of a challenge.
I had to re-do half of it because I made it too dark. (As in, I grabbed 3 undyed and started over to replace the darker 3 skeins)
I know these look almost the same, and the photos make it even more so... but one is mostly blueish green with some purple and the other is mostly purple with some blue. I promise. Lol
Caked up there is a more obvious difference, one looking aqua ish and the other purple.
I can't wait to share progress on this project, as they look so pretty together!!!
