man!!!! dsmp fucked so hard. the best way i can describe it is like. theres a lot of technically good media out there. that do things better or less chaotically or more thematically coherent that the dsmp. but dsmp feels so fucking sincere, like. it’s homemade, is the thing. it’s made by them, it’s made by us. it’s imperfect, it’s flawed, it’s honest. it goes beyond its medium and demands that you care. its genius comes from the fact that we’re consuming it together, watching it together, creating it together. it feels a lot like a homecooked family meal, is what i’m saying. love that shit <3

I’m having many thoughts about the DSMP finale.
I don’t think anything like DSMP will ever happen again, if I’m being perfectly honest. Nothing is ever going to come close to just how MASSIVE it was, and how momentous it’s all felt. Like over 100k people were tuning in to watch MCRP lore at some points, which is INSANE. And like the insane amount of love put into it by (most of) the people on it, and the fans. The fanart, fansongs, recreations of the server, animatics, everything really! Stuff like Sad-Ist’s animations, Derivakat’s songs based off the characters and events, and like!!! So much more!!!! And the work of the CCs!!!!! Stuff like Quackity’s Las Nevadas streams or BadBoyHalo’s Eggpire streams with their INSANELY high quality productions, with the former even having it’s own music??? That’s INSANE!!
And like, despite EVERYTHING. The Dream situatuon, the slow and uneventful downfall of the server, the Nuke ending. I still LOVE this server, and don’t see myself leaving it’s fandom ANYTIME soon. and I’ll probably love it for the rest of my life. It’s literally changed my life for the better. Introduced me to so many lovely people I never would’ve seen otherwise, made me improve my writing and my art, and literally got me through SO MANY tough times in my life. And it introduced me to so many content creators I never would’ve gotten into in the first place. It’s done so much for me, and has done so much for so many other people, and I don’t think that can be overlooked, because I doubt something like that is ever going to happen again.
Farewell, DSMP. Your Unfinished Symphony finally draws to a close.

So excited to see how Vol 2 Wilbur will be!
Either we get the same c!Wilbur- either moving away from Utah, or Utah being a part of wherever Vol 2 takes place, and God knows I’d love to see him again even if Wilbur’s mentioned he’s not planning much lore. I mean, we know Wilbur, he can’t fucking avoid lore if he tries :p
Or we get a new bursona (c!2bur?) and we end up inevitably with another character that we will love and cherish forever!!!
The same goes with everyone else who’s intending to wrap up their story! As the worlds biggest inniter, I gotta throw my hat into the right for being excited to see what character Tommy plays- whether it’s c!Tommy still (who I love so much I have had multiple plushes made of him help), or he’s going to go for another character (which we can see he can do excellently- look at patient zero!Tommy from the Slimecicle video!) but everyone on the SMP has proven themselves to be an excellent improv actor both in comedy and drama and… well, even if Vol 2 starts off more chilled out, I genuinely don’t think that these people could avoid making lore if they tried!

after a few hours of streaming, wilbur came over to y/n’s place and tickled them. “you just had to throw that comment out there, didn’t you love?”

its okay i'll just c!Eryn lovepost meta + the lore plans.
Like we have a guy who met a guy named c!Tommy. They were best friends. He learned to swim in the Overworld, and he taught his friend to shoot arrows, arrows that he would never know would one day be used in revolutions and duels and cost him his lives. And then he loses that home, and he loses his family, and he takes time to travel. And when he returns, he almost believes that he loses his friend.
And now here he is, at the Dream SMP, and c!Tommy is alive, but he's not...well. He's different. He doesn't quite smile as brightly, doesn't move through the world as boldly, he doesn't dive headfirst into water or plans or goals. He has a home that is less structurally good than the one he had before. The ground is shaky like its been blown up before. There's towers and building crater and wars that they know nothing about. All they know is c!Tommy is afraid, upset, and that there are screams of death starting from his path to the crater of a place he won't really speak of, even as he incases his home in those familiar walls. All they know is that it's from c!Dream.
But c!Dream is nice, right? c!Tommy says he misses him, when things were simple, right? And c!Tommy hasn't really told him that the shrine was distasteful has he, speaking of, where is c!Tommy gone off to? And maybe so he goes along with c!Dream's plans, you bumble through, learn that maybe someone's wronged him. They don't know that it was c!Dream that wronged people, c!Dream kind of freaks him out anyway. And he's a good fighter, doesn't mind helping out. And maybe now he's in the heat of battle, maybe c!Dream, c!Punz, and c!Eryn are winning, except c!Tommy stands before him with the most betrayed and sad eyes, like you were the final person he never expected to side with c!Dream. And maybe c!Dream puts his hand on the hilt of a sword and tells you to point and attack while he's down.
They can't do it.

there really is something magical about the dsmp and the way that it allows people to learn to tell stories like Q tweeted about how this las nevadas arc has shown him a passion he didn't know that he had for this kind of storytelling and now he has one of the highest peak viewer counts of all time on twitch for it while purpled who never really streamed much on the smp once lore started picking up (much to my chagrin) said on his post-finale q&a that he wasn't ready as a creator at the beginning of the lore to take on the responsibility but now, after working on c!purpled, he's also realized that he loved developing his character and called it something that he'll remember forever. like THAT'S what makes the smp special, the creators aren't just doing it for views or to get it over with or whatever, it's just as fulfilling and life-changing for them to write and create as it is for us to watch incredibly well-written and well-acted lore streams like the one that we saw tonight :>
#and it's absolutely not limited to q and purp#pretty much all of my favorite creators on the smp have talked about how fulfilling it is for them to explore their creativities on there#I don't really pay much attention anymore to the fandom bc all of the constant discourse has annoyed me but seeing the creators be happy?#that'll get me to come crawling back to lore any day and I'm assured that whoever I watch is passionate about the story they tell#loveposting#dsmp#ok I'm done sleepytired good night

Legitimately in tears over Puffy's DSMP archive it's genuinely so wonderful to me. Seeing all these wonderful builds again, some that haven't been seen in MONTHS or even YEARS, seeing things like Techno's house, Snowchester, L'Manberg, Tommy's house, The Cookie Outpost, The Ranvan, just everything really! Just seeing all these builds at their best, in beautiful lighting and in high quality makes me happy. Despite all it's flaws I don't think I would've traded the DSMP experience for anything really, even with the finale and everything that happened it's still the server that changed my life for the better, and I will always owe so much to it for that. I love you, DSMP.

anyways what's so striking about the dsmp is just how real and honest and raw it is on the human condition and life. Somethings have messy and unfair and ambiguous beginnings and messy and unfair and confusing endings and some people are just handed the short stick in life and the cycle of violence being broken, although a lofty goal, is generally unattainable. And yet there isn't just all doom and despair and even though all was futile and pointless Tubbo still tried and Jack still regretted and Tommy (however fucked up it was set up) empathized with a monster who frankly didn't deserve anything, and yes it was messed up but I don't think cc!Tommy who loved his character that much, would allow his character's last moments to be like that, and then allow his character to completely forget everything, even c!techno.
So maybe this is just a longwinded form of copium, but I still have hope. Despite everything.
And isn't that the message of the dsmp?

I wrote this thing and was like woah what if Wilbur and Reader secret relationship?

My words betray my thoughts, my very essence of being, “we don’t need to put a label on this as long as I can have you”
a flash of something across his face is unrecognizable to me, as if there’s no correct answer. As if the very words from my swollen lips put his mind into a tizzy. To consider it would be to betray his ideals, his upbringing, his mother. To deny it would be to betray his image.
Scarred fingers dance along my sides rhythmically as he wracked his brain for an answer. I wish I could answer for him in his hesitation. That his prolonged silence is breaking my heart and that I didn’t mean it. How I’d lie and take it back, if it meant continuing to love him , even in secrecy.
His haphazardly red stained lips matching mine twitch as his hands drift up to my face, soft eyes meeting mine.
“My image is very dear to me”
“Dearer than I?”
“No, not dearer than you. Never dearer than you.”

i breath in, still upset. “then why hide me? i’m not a fucking china doll, wilbur. i’m 26 years old, i’m pretty sure i wouldn’t be in a relationship with you if i didn’t know what the risks were.”
“i know, i know, love. i’m just afraid of the hate and the pain you might get.”
i roll my eyes. “needless to say, you’re worried about what your damn fans will say about wilbur’s average girlfriend. i get it, believe me i do. i’m not a model or an actress, i’m just a normal person. but you’re hurting me more by hiding me than not saying anything. i have to hide when we go out because your fans might be suspicious, i want to hold your hand in public, get caught kissing your lips, actually go on damn dates, but instead, i’m your dirty little secret.”
wilbur started having tears falling down his face. “you’re not a secret. believe me, y/n you’re not a secret. i just- i just need time to tell them.”
i started to cry, and grabbed my purse. “well, take all the damn time you need, because i’m leaving, and until you man up and have the balls to tell your fans about us, i’m leaving.”
i went out of his house and closed the door, sobbing.

Summary:
A god and an admin meet in a clearing to discuss life and death and consequence.
Dream is alive and free when he shouldn't be due to XD's intervention, but a price has been paid that can never be undone.
Dream is…admittedly confused about what’s happening here, and by what he means everything. In what scenario would being killed—on a last life—not lead to his final death, to an eternity in limbo or the unending blackness of a culled existence? “…I was on my third life?” he tries, a dawning, uncomfortable sense that he’s missing something vital beginning to creep over him.
(How long was he dead? For how long was he lost in the void in the span between one blink and the next? What is he missing?)
“Oh Dream,” the god croons with an airy sigh, circling closer to trail gloved fingers lightly along Dream’s defensively hunched shoulders, the touch electric—colored particles fizz up and out at each point of contact. “Have you forgotten what you are?”
