Question for the knt fandom. What decade does it take place in(to you)

#i just realized that it probably takes place in like the 90s or 2000s #what with the technology(or lack of it)#like ted and his dad use smartphones in 85 but that's the only time i can think of something like that?#but then there's everything else #the kind of tv they have. the fact that they are practically never playing video games or anything #(i can only think of when aiden plays a racing game with his car)#and they way more often do things like. play baseball. walk around. dig holes. climb stuff #everything aiden does in general points to modern gaming not existing yet. all the things he does while bored #he does have a ds but he isn't always on it #he's more often seen with his slingshot #(nvm i looked and there's several times people use smartphones but like. really they just use them like they would flip phones)#and i'm not saying that none of the things are things kids don't do anymore because now they have Phones and Games #i just mean that the 3 of them behave like kids who are bored and need something to do so they do Anything they can think of #of course there's still other explanations like maybe they live in a small town #chris post #knt

Evie x Aiden gaming headcanons

As requested by @inlocusmads, here are some of my gaming related headcanons for Evie and Aiden. Many of these are actually some of my oldest headcanons, back from when I first got into Choices. Here's what I've got as of now:

Evie:

Evie is more of a casual gamer, but she does have a lot of games she enjoys. Minecraft, Super Mario 64 DS, Mario Kart DS, and Among Us are some of her biggest favorites. And also a couple of oddly satisfying mobile games. And whatever the Choices universe equivalent to Choices and HSS Prime is.

Evie was also a major frequenter of sites like CoolMath during 4th-6th grade and she still enjoys them. Some of her favorites includes Sushi Cat, Papa's Pizzaria/Taco Mia/Burgeria/etc., Bloons + Bloons Tower Defense, and Fireboy and Watergirl. Luckily she does get a chance to show them to Aiden before the end of Adobe Flash.

Aiden:

Aiden is utter crap at computer games. The only ones he's good at are stuff like Smule Magic Piano (which Evie would struggle with more) and Minecraft creative mode.

And 75% of Aiden's Minecraft-playing is composing or recreating songs with the note blocks.

He sometimes does Minecraft Survival mode but the only way he can really last is if Evie's in the world with him and they're working together.

He barely manages Mario Kart, but can't drift for shit.

He openly insults Fortnite.

Sometimes he'll go into a game like Mario Party thinking it'll be easy, only to be absolute dogshit at it.

Yes, Aiden is even crap at Tetris. His screen legit looked like this on his first attempt at the game.

He is not a fan of Among Us (despite that he willingly played "Mafia" on the boat in after-prom). To him, it's just people "running around and blaming each other". He especially hates being the imposter because, in his own words from the Mafia game, "I can't lie to save my life".

Actually I think Aiden would be pretty good at stuff like Interactive Story games like Evie does too.

Myra is always teasing him about how bad he is at most video games and often likes to mention his least favorites to annoy him.

Evie: "Aiden you're usually very dexterous when it comes to instruments, but you're bad at video games?" Aiden: "Playing the piano and playing on a gaming console are two completely different things."

Both of them:

Evie and Aiden regularly have double dates with Nishan and Sakura where they play 2-on-2 video games, usually battlegrounds-style games. Their rounds are of course very short-lived because Aiden is crap at the games, but they're still fun nonetheless.

I haven't played it myself yet but I can totally see the two of them getting into Fall Guys. Evie likes the cute fall guy avatars.

Evie (with some minimal help from Aiden) trying to design a sort of a big fancy "dream house" for them in Minecraft.

Something something they squee over Minecraft cats together a lot

Evie would try to teach Aiden a lot of the video games she's good at. He'd slowly improve at most of them.

The two of them totally obsess over video games with awesome soundtracks, even if they haven't played the games themselves. But it sometimes may lead them to getting into the games. Eg. Evie loves the soundtracks for the Super Mario Galaxy games, she'd show it to Aiden and they'd obsess over them, and at one point or another, they'd feel compelled to buy the games.

I think a habit both of them would also have in certain video games is: they start a game, but if the soundtrack is really good, they'll just make their character do nothing or run around aimlessly in it so that they can keep the music + sound effects going on because they don't want it to stop. They do this a LOT with Mecha Bowser battle in Super Mario Galaxy 1.

I think they'd sometimes use app versions of classic board games (chess, checkers, etc).

They'd definitely enjoy puzzle games like minesweeper. They're each pretty good at the puzzle games on their own, but it's extra fun to work on them together. Also Aiden sitting in Evie's lap while they play the games.

Aru: Nah, I actually like to keep the peppers separate. I wanna savor each flavor.

Rudy: Hawaiian? I never heard of that variety of pizza.

Aru: Oh, it's super good! It's peppers, and pineapple!

Rudy: O_O EXCUSE YOU AND YOUR ENTIRE RACE

Aru: What? Peppers and pineapple!

Rudy: That's disgusting! Why would you ruin a perfectly good pizza with PINEAPPLE?!?

Aru: What? No, it's the best! It plays so well with the peppers and the tomato-

Rudy: It's an abomination and I now believe the Sleeper did nothing wrong! Why would you put a sweet and juicy fruit on top of a salty delicious pizza?!?

Mini: To be fair, babysnake, tomato is a fruit.

Rudy: Don't play Yama's Advocate here, my queen! Unless you think we should start filling samosas with raspberry jam!

Brynne: That actually sounds delicious!

Rudy: OF COURSE YOU'D SAY THAT! I am a royal epicurean! YOU wolf down Chick-fil-A's like Lay's!

Aru: Ooh! Now I want sandwiches! Can we just do sandwiches instead?

Rudy: Now that you mention it, I could go full naga for some Mickey Ds. Wait no, Burger King. NO, Wendy's!

Aiden: I have a preferance for Panera, personally.

Rudy: I'll have a spicy classic chicken sandwich with caramelized onions, lettuce, chipotle mayo and ketchup, no pickles.

I’ve been working on an original character for a while, and I think it’s finally time to introduce him…

His name is Aiden Gou, and he’s a detective sergeant that I created for Midsomer Murders. The show obviously isn’t known for having a diverse set of main characters, so that’s part of the reason why I’ve created an Asian detective. But the other reason is just that I’m of Chinese heritage myself, and I’ve always loved crime shows- and I decided to combine that together.

I’ve drawn and listed some information about my oc (and I’m happy to elaborate on that info, shoot me an ask if you wanna know more about him!) and a lot of his background info is inspired from my life.

I have some stories typed up, most of which are about my oc’s relations to canonical characters of Midsomer Murders, and I’ll link them here every time they get posted :) [this post is probably gonna be pinned, for a long time as well]

So now that my logistics are out of the way…here’s my sergeant oc!

Additional info about Aiden:

• Aiden is not Jamie’s replacement, but is an addition to the team (because the thought of Jamie leaving put me in distress); he is part of a detective trio!

• a very stealthy dude who scares the shit out of people because they don’t realize he’s behind them until they turn around or he makes a noise to get their attention (a recurring thing in my stories)

• he used to work under DI Ben Jones! \(^o^)/

• he also met Fleur before- she was invited to do a seminar at Aiden’s university for forensic science (since she’s full of surprises in the show, I decided it would be appropriate)

• Aiden is always gonna be described or seen in a three-piece suit with his sleeves rolled up, but without the actual jacket to complete the outfit…he just substitutes it with a random trench coat 0_0

• the second character of his Chinese name (爱) means “love”

• pronunciation of his surname (Gou): just think of how you would pronounce the word “go”, and that’s honestly the best I can describe it

• are his parents supportive of him being aroace? for my peace of mind, yes, I’ve created that dynamic because it’s a stigma in Chinese culture that I wanted to defy :)

• 180cm is actually tall for dudes from China’s Sichuan province (they’re normally way shorter, but i based Aiden’s height off of what my brother’s predicted height is going to be)

• when I say that Sichuan food is spicy, I mean SPICY, like go search it up on google and you’ll see what I mean 0_0

• Aiden’s hobbies: gaming, watercolour painting, cosplaying (with Jamie, because I may or may not have set them up to be good friends in addition to working together), badminton, photography, mahjong (it’s a game commonly played in China, and specifically common in Sichuan)

• four words: knitting buddies with Jamie (I threw the idea of Jamie’s knitting hobby out there…in some post from a small while back)

• Aiden’s music interests (these are literally my own, pls don’t judge lmao): Coldplay, Bastille, literally any 90s boyband, BTS, EXO, Maroon 5, Imagine Dragons, CNCO
