When you get the chance... Can you write a ChiLumi story involving hurt/comfort by Lumine after Childe (Ajax) uses Foul Legacy Form and goes too far? Please include trauma of sort.
To make this easier: It’s storming and they are on DragonSpine (I REALLY love this area)
Have fun and Thank you!
I did my best to make it... angsty. Here you go!
@luciana-scarlet
[[ TW: Blood, Violence, Aggressive Behavior ]]
[[ Summary: Lumine wanted to go to Dragonspine, to complete tasks long since forgotten, letting Childe come along to help, only for everything to go wrong.
Word Count: 2'773 ]]
It was just a mission. Lumine had been going through her pack, and... she found a box. An odd box that she... didn't exactly understand. After spending an, admittedly, long time looking through scrambled notes
[ Aether was always better with notes, with keeping track of what was important... ]
She found out it had something to do with Dragonspine. She thought she was done with that gods [or, perhaps, Archons] forsaken place, the chill only just having escaped her bones after so many months...
"Ah, you want a coat?" Childe asked, and Lumine nodded, "Well, my only question is... for what? I'm not the best at fashion, but I know how to keep warm as well as any Snezhnayan. Actually, probably a lot better."
Lumine lifted her hand, and held up two fingers-
"Warmth, then," He had long since understood, "Does Paimon need one?"
Lumine hesitated for a moment, looking over at Paimon, who was bundled up...
Would she need to come?
Lumine shook her head, then shifted her hand to lightly pat on her chest, signifying only she needed one.
"Right. Paimon is going to stay in the Teapot, then?" He asked, looking over at her, and how pleased she seemed in this moment... and Lumine nodded. "Where are you intending on going, anyway?" He leaned forward a little, to be closer to eye level with her, "Anywhere I could come to?"
Lumine thought for a moment, then held her hands in front of her mouth, palms upwards and fingers forward, and curled her fingers up, wiggling them as she moved her hands forward, and blowing over her hands...
Dragon.
She crossed her arms at the wrist, fingers inwards except her index and middle, which curled inwards, she then used one hand to touch the back of her neck, and one hand gestured that she was holding something, and the other signalled that it was trailing down a string.
Spine.
"Dragonspine?" Childe asked, and she nodded, "I thought you hated Dragonspine."
She had reached over to the odd box and showed it to Childe, he lightly dusting it off as he examined the fine design...
"This has something to do with Dragonspine, and... let me guess, your adventurers pride won't let you leave it?"
She nodded, and he chuckled.
"Oh, I'll come with you, then. Can't let you freeze to death... Plus it'd be good conditioning for when you come to Snezhnaya with me." He nodded to himself, as though approving something, "Right, I have a coat, and if it keeps me warm in Snezhnaya, it'll keep me warm in Dragonspine... I think I know a place in Mondstadt that we could get you a custom, fluffy coat..."
He was already thinking about it, and Lumine could only smile. She'd get the best coat for the cold that money could possibly buy, and she didn't have to pay a single mora.
... ... ...
Bundled up tight, Serenitea Pot left at the camp (she never liked bringing it up the bitter mountain), and she had already began to climb the massive beast made of ice and stone, with Childe right beside her.
For some time, besides her stopping and warming her hands at any nearby fire or seelie, it was peaceful, the two taking a few brief moments to look over the ocean of snow resting over the rest of the mountain ...
Then Lumine began to shiver, and they went onward, likely to the next source of heat, or just out of the wind nipping at her nose and cheeks.
"We should come here more often," Childe hummed, as they stopped at a small, abandoned camp, equipped with the bare essentials...
But, when you came prepared, it was just a pleasant head start. Set up in a large, empty cave, there wasn't too much fear of asphyxiation, and it seemed mostly abandoned, other than a few animals.
Lumine was doing her best to start a spark with two stones, until there was a small, promising flame, setting a pot near it--
"Hmm..." Childe looked out the entrance to the cave, "There's a lot of Hilichurls nearby... I'd rather not get disturbed in the middle of a good time by them, you know?"
She was motionless for a second, then looked up at him, staring blankly for a long moment...
"Well?" He asked, a grin on his face, and she just sighed...
They probably have some reasonably fresh food stores there...
Her feelings on Hilichurls were awkward at best, but, at the end of the day, they were openly aggressive against humans, even whose who truly had no ill intentions and did everything in their power to leave them be, so she used that as an excuse to comfort herself.
Lumine nodded, and Childe cheered in excitement, jumping up, "Yeah! Come on, come on, let's do this!" He laughed excitedly to himself, grabbing her hand and hoisting her up to her feet, all but dragging her ahead as she struggled to keep herself from falling face first into the icy ground.
It didn't take long for them to get out of the cave, and... Lumine looked around, there truly wasn't much. She wanted to argue, to insist that the Hilichurls wouldn't bug them, but Childe turned and looked at her, a wild look in his eyes...
... He needs to vent energy.
Despite not really knowing where to go, and plenty of dragging Lumine around until she finally smacked his arm, a single warning before she'd leave him to freeze in the snow, and they found themselves to a camp... Lumine looked at the area, it seemed to try and house itself beside a sharp cliff, to hide from the bitter cold, but...
Avalanche.
She grabbed Childe's hand, tugging at it a little, and as he looked at her, she shook her head with a pouty frown. Sure, there were Hilichurls, but...
"Nah, I got this," he dismissed, not looking at her for a second longer, "You ready?" He asked, and his blades appeared in his hands, and the frost already began to freeze the tips, the blades...
She sighed, and with a single moment, her sword was in her hand. She looked at the guard, the eye-like structure that stared right back at her... Dread filled her gut, but that feeling seemed to become more and more prominent, nowadays...
"Now!" Childe shouted, with a wild laugh, and he had dashed ahead, the Hilichurl's ears popping up from their fluffy heads in their surprise at his volume, and then chanted out their own cries, running towards the both of them, and Lumine could only helplessly chase as Childe seemed content to destroy anything that moved--
And the battle was over quickly. Of course it was, Childe was thorough and quick, and his blades shattered within seconds as soon as he was done, but he was still looking around...
"Is that really it?" He asked, barely panting, "That wasn't anything... Just a dumb few... Hili... Churls..."
Lumine tilted her head to the side, looking up at him, and suddenly... the mild warmth from the sun disappeared, and a shadow loomed over her--
She was only able to turn around just enough to see a massive Mitachurl towering over her, and then with a brutal swing, she was hit right in the stomach, and thrown into the stone cliff face.
"Finally!" Childe snapped out, his blades returning, and he threw himself at the Mitachurl-
Lumine could barely even get herself off the ground as she helplessly looked at the scene before her-- Childe had not even gotten a single strike, his blades trying to hook into the chest of the beast, to rip open its flesh and to watch its innards fall out...
But the cold froze his blades, and they shattered like glass, and he fell to the ground, awkwardly mangled as he was too dazed to realize that he was not fighting, he was...
"Ajax!" Lumine shrieked, shrill enough that the Mitachurl had focused on her again, and with an unsteady grip upon the blade, the agony of its corruption crawling up her hand...
She could only purify herself, and the dread that hangs over her, and fills her lungs like smoke.
As it ran to her, she thrust her blade forward, piercing its face as its blood spewed onto her face, but what she didn't expect was ,just a bit above her own mark, a purple spear thrust out from it, just an inch from her face, the tip of it causing the lightest cut on the tip of her nose, holding her breath in pure terror, but the spear was ripped back out, and the Mitachurl weakly lifted its hand to the hole, before...
It all turned to dust, the bitter wind of Dragonspine whisking it away, and now... all that stood beyond it was the nightmare of Lumine's dreams.
"Oh," he said, spinning his spear of electro in one hand, the Foul Legacy's massive maw opened, but spoke without needing to move it at all, words coming from deeper within, "You know, I kind of like it when you look afraid." He said, idly, "Reminds me of when we met... the only worthwhile fight, beyond my masterrr..." He trailed on the end of the word, letting himself gently fall to the ground, walking closer, and closer, and when Lumine tried to jump out of the way-
The spear shot into the stone wall behind her, any movement in that direction would lead to electrocution...
And in the other direction, a spear of hydro. Touching it would, at best, freeze her hand, at worst, kill her flesh with cold and ice.
And before her, the Foul Legacy stood, staring down at her.
"Why can't you let me have my fun?" He asked, getting down on one knee, and Lumine lifted her hand, her hand hitting the stone wall, but she still held her blade, it twisted, pointing at the Foul Legacy with her iron grip...
He leaned closer, the massive maw widening more, enough that if he so desired, he could crush her head in a single snap, and roaring right into her face, she flinching, closing her eyes tight until he ceased...
And he panted.
"Tell me," he demanded, "Why can't you let me have my fun? Maybe," his head twitched, tilting back and forth rapidly, "Only you can entertain me..."
She knew this wasn't Ajax. She knew, deep down, it wasn't. Perhaps, perhaps the body was his, and he was the host, but as she looked into that single eye...
Holding onto her blade, she thrust it into that blue eye, stabbing it into the Foul Legacy's eye, getting it well over halfway in before it threw its head back in agony, thrashing around, "It-it burns! IT BURNS!" It shrieked out, and she only cursed herself, knowing the burning would fled to Childe's mind as well...
And as it held its own head, it bashed into the cliff, and above--
The rumbling.
The chaos.
And the encompassing darkness as snow had begun to fall,
Avalanche.
She could see, however, as though time slowed, there was a slight overhang, and...
She pressed herself to the cliff, and watched as the Foul Legacy be consumed by an oddly beautiful sheet of white and...
And it was over. She breathed heavily, seeing the mound of snow... A distant thought, she pondered if she should leave, but-
No matter her hatred of the Foul Legacy, that was Childe's body, Ajax's soul within that cursed form.
Not wanting to risk her Anemo to turn the snow to ice and to shred him to pieces, she fell to her knees- and dug.
Her hands- her gloves quickly became wet after digging, the heat of her own body, and she could feel her skin burning with the cold, digging longer and longer, tears falling, and freezing on her cheeks before they could fall to the ground, until--
The handle of her sword appeared, and the eye was fixed forward, before, it jerked to look at her, and the faux eyelids seemed to narrow, amused with the situation...
She let out an animalistic snarl, her hatred to the weapon leading to her grabbing the handle, grabbing it and throwing it off to the side- she knew she couldn't let its disease spread, but in this moment she did not care...
But it meant that he- Ajax, was just below, and a few more moments of digging had shown his face, and blissfully enough... there was no wound. It had not harmed him, thankfully.
She grabbed the sides of his head, and she put hers near his, her forehead and tip of her nose against his...
He was breathing.
She offered herself just a second, a second of knowing he was safe...
Before she continued to dig, and eventually, she had gotten him from the snow and the frost, carrying him back to the little camp they had, only stopping for a second to grab her sword, and a few other things she could quickly shove into her satchel.
... ... ...
Since she dragged him back, she had not left his side, never more than just a little bit aways, and she would keep looking back at him, bundled up, and tucked inside the sleeping bag...
Lumine sighed, and she returned to cooking. She didn't really care what was in there, some frozen vegetables [or, truly, should she say plants in general] she took from the Hilichurl camp, some meat, and a bunch of water [again, she should just say melted snow], so it'd be easier for Childe to just drink and then go back to sleep.
She hated Dragonspine, nothing ever good from this cursed mountain, having slaughtered its people once, and it wanted to slaughter any others who remained.
And right now, that meant her and Ajax.
Looking at the soup, she decided to throw some seasonings in there, just to, hopefully, make it more palatable. Childe wasn't picky, but... She never did like it when anyone would insult her, it was rare, but from time to time a foolish knight would say she ought to be at home, taking care of a man, and there was nothing more she hated than that...
But she did like taking care of one man, maybe just a bit... when he needed her. Not like he said she should do that, in fact, he acted more like a housewife than she did.
.. Miserably, she chuckled.
Childe weakly began to cough, and if she had ears of a dog, they'd be perking up, and she immediately rushed over, moving to her hands and feet to crawl a little closer, and Childe... weakly opened his eyes,
"Hey," cough, "Hey baby... How dead am I?" He asked, and she shook her head, shifting to sit on her knees, and looking over him, her hand resting over his heart... But he rested his hand atop hers, eyes closing, but he smiled in an almost... delirious way.
Childe inhaled... and exhaled.
"I know," he said, "You don't like it when I do it. If I'm honest, I don't like it either... feels like I'm cheating."
She shook her head, not happy at all with his only concern being 'fairness'... but he chuckled.
"I'm kidding... well, about the cheating thing." He inhaled, and exhaled, "I was just... I guess I was scared, but I scared you, too..." He sighed, his head lolling to the side.
Lumine closed her eyes for a moment, and sighed, "I don't want to come back to Dragonspine again."
Childe opened his eyes fully, propping himself on his elbows as he looked at her, "You," he swallowed thickly, "Didn't you have a... uah... Box? Box for Dragonspine?"
She just shook her head, and as Childe tried to sit up, she took the liberty of helping him, pulling him to her, and once he was sitting up, she took a second to hold him, likely excusing it to herself as 'just helping', and not that she wanted to hold him after horror of everything.
"I won't..." cough, "Press it... But I do want to know," Cough, cough, he sounded so miserably weak, "What are you cooking? Smells... good... or maybe I'm just really hungry."
As though on cue, his stomach grumbled, and Lumine could only smile helplessly... How... how silly. How ridiculous. She pressed a kiss to between his eyes--where she plunged her blade before, and got up to go get him some, noting to eat hers as quickly as possible, because knowing him, he'd probably inhale it in the fraction of a second if he had the chance.

“the president and the troublemaker” (part 5) (chilumi fic)
“Lumine is the student council president and Childe is the school’s number one troublemaker. They cross paths more than they’d like. Especially when Childe finds out Lumine’s big secret. Highschool AU à la Kaichou wa Maid-sama.”
[part 1] [part 2] [part 3] [part 4]
hey all so sorry for the delay—i was playing through dragonspine and got busy with the holiday season too ;__;
[Fic Masterlist] // [AO3 Link]
the president and the troublemaker (part 5)
“You sure you got proper training?” Childe asked Lumine as he circled her, noting her various fighting forms.
“I got training,” Lumine said, her muscles feeling shaky after holding her form for so long. “Proper might be stretching it.”
Childe raised a brow, and Lumine sighed, relaxing her body. “Classes are expensive,” she explained. “Even if I wanted proper training, I wouldn’t have been able to pay for it.”
“Well, I guess it’s a good thing I’m teaching you for free,” Childe said. “Out of the goodness of my heart.”
“Thank you, O Kind One,” Lumine said sarcastically. “Proper training didn’t even matter in Kaeya’s arena. It was kind of just like a free for all.”
“That won’t pass here. The fighters here aren’t just some thugs off the streets; these people have had that proper training, and are going to quickly outclass you if you don’t get that training in as well.”
“I thought you and Kaeya both said I was good at this?”
“Talent is one thing, but it will only get you so far. You’ve still got to train and hone your skills if you ever want to progress further and better yourself.”
“You sound so wise.” Lumine tilted her head. “If only you could do this at school too, you’d stop causing so much trouble for me and my student council.”
Childe shrugged, a smirk on his lips. “Where’s the fun in that?”
She rolled her eyes. “Alright, c’mon. This is the only time where I have to listen to you, so let’s get it over with.”
With enthusiasm, he walked her through various forms of punches and kicks—foot placements, weight distribution, where to send her strength—and soon enough Lumine was sprawled on the soft gym floor, all of her muscles aching and sweat pooling on her skin. Childe sat a few feet away from her, stretching.
“You’re not even breaking a sweat,” Lumine said between gasps of breath.
He smiled. “Been doing this a long time.”
She sighed. “I can’t wait for my first fight next week.”
“You’re not nervous at all?”
“Of course not,” Lumine answered with a scoff. “I’ve been waiting for that paycheck for a while now.”
“How interesting,” Childe said looking around the gym. “Your little Vice President brother not here today?”
“No, he’s covering some student council work for me while I’m here,” she replied.
“Oh? Finally delegating your work instead of doing it all yourself?”
“Yup. If there’s anyone I trust to do the work as competently as me, it’s Aether.”
“You two are really close, then.”
“He’s my twin,” Lumine said. She glanced at Childe who in turn was looking out one of the large windows. She realized she knew nothing about him—except that he liked to stir up trouble wherever he went. “Do you have any siblings?”
A small smile. “I do. Too many, in fact.” He held up his hand. “Five siblings.”
“Oh god.” Lumine grimaced. “There’s five of you running around out there?”
He laughed. “C’mon, Pres. I’m not that bad once you get to know me, right?”
“I don’t know you.”
“You wound me,” he teased. There was a slight pause. Then, “Two older siblings: one brother, one sister. Then three younger ones: two brothers and one sister.” He started counting them off on his hands. “Alexei, Misha, Anthon, Tonia, Teucer.”
“So you’re the middle child,” Lumine noted. “Is that why you do all this? For attention?”
“Nope,” he replied, shaking his head. “Haven’t I told you already? This is all for fun.”
“Fun,” she muttered. She was doing what she had to for her family; would it be so horrible to enjoy it along the way? Childe seemed perfectly happy where he was. Could she ever be the same way? How does he do it?
“Trying to figure me out, Pres?” Childe smirked. “I’m flattered.”
She looked at him, at his glinting blue eyes, and rugged orange hair—scars running up and down his arms and legs.
Don’t get too involved with him. Aether’s words rang out in her mind.
“Absolutely not,” she said, quickly getting up off the floor. “Well, I think we should call it a day. Thanks for the training today.”
As she was leaving the gym, she couldn’t help but feel like she was disappointing Aether somehow.
But it was natural right? Childe was going to be coaching her for the foreseeable future, and they were bound to get closer. It didn’t mean she was going to become involved with whatever delinquent activities he was doing. She was just learning from him.
She clenched her fist. Just...learning....
* * *
The student council room was abuzz as the members rushed around, finishing their end-of-month reports: budgets, expenses, cataloguing—anything and everything that needed to be tracked.
Soon enough, the room was flooded with the orange hues of the sunset, and the council treasurer, a soft-spoken student named Noelle, timidly walked up to Lumine’s desk.
“Madame President?” she asked. “Some of the members were wondering if we could go home soon?”
Lumine blinked. “Is all your work done?”
“Ah, n-no,” Noelle responded. She clasped her two hands together. “W-we just wanted to get home before it got too dark.”
Amber came up beside Noelle, a worried expression on her face. “Yes, there have been reports of some creeps targeting high school girls and assaulting them at night.” She pursed her lips. “I know there’s still a lot of work to be done, but I think it’s safest if all of us leave earlier than usual.”
Bennett stood up, thumb pointing to his chest. “No worries! Me and Xiao will do our best to protect you ladies! Right, Xiao?”
The council historian, Xiao, glanced up from his own paperwork. “Yes,” he agreed simply in his usual monotonous voice.
“Hey, where’s Aether anyways?” Bennett asked Lumine.
“He got called into work right after school today,” she told him. She looked at Amber and Noelle. “I agree, it would probably be safest if we all leave now.” Then, she pursed her lips. “But, like you said, there still is a lot of work to be done, and the deadline is the day after tomorrow…”
“We can try finishing it all tomorrow then!” Amber suggested enthusiastically.
Lumine shook her head. “It’s too much, even if we tried finishing it all tomorrow.” She stood up. “Okay, everyone is dismissed. I will stay behind and complete some things to make sure we can finish by tomorrow.”
“B-but, Madame President! What about you?” Noelle protested.
“Don’t worry about me. My priority as your President is to make sure you all are taken care of.” Lumine gave them a small smile. “If I can’t protect you guys, and step up when you all need me, what kind of President would I be?”
“I’ll stay behind to protect you!” Bennett offered.
Lumine laughed. “Thank you, Bennett, really. But I need you and Xiao to make sure these ladies get home safe, okay?”
Her council was all looking at her, expressions worn with worry.
“I promise you, I will be okay.” Lumine walked to the door, gesturing out of it. “Now please: your President is ordering you all to go home.”
After much reluctance, all the student council members were on their way: Bennett walking Amber home and Xiao walking Noelle home.
Eventually, as the sky turned darker and darker, Lumine finished up enough work to ensure that her council could finish by their deadline.
She walked through the school gates as the last of the sunlight was dipping below the horizon, and a little inkling of worry bubbled in her gut.
She shook her head. I’ll be fine, she thought, shaking out her hands to loosen them up—just in case she needed to throw out a few punches later.
Walking a bit further, she mentally ran through all the forms Childe had taught her yesterday. For this kick, I need my right foot forward, then my arms need to be—
A hand clamped over her mouth from behind.
An arm wrapped around her waist, trapping her own arms to her sides.
Shit! Is this the attacker they were talking about earlier?!
She clenched her jaw. I’ll stop you right now, you creep!
Lumine brought her foot up, and slammed down on her attacker’s foot with all her force. They stumbled a bit, loosening their grip on her, which gave her the perfect opportunity to break out of their grasp, elbowing them in the gut. She heard them fall on the ground behind her. She spun around, raising her fists, ready to strike—
“Childe?”
The tall ginger let out a sheepish laugh while holding his side.
“What the hell are you doing?!” Lumine blurted.
He slowly stood. “Playing stalker, I guess.” He rubbed his side. “God, your elbow is strong.”
She clenched her fists. “Anyone else would report you to the cops right away.”
“You need to be more aware of your surroundings,” Childe said, ignoring her comments. “Haven’t you heard the news recently?”
Lumine threw him a glare. “I have heard about it. If I didn’t know any better, I’d say that attacker is you.”
“Just keeping you on your toes, Pres.” He smiled, but something about it was...off. A little more strained than usual.
“A simple warning would have been fine,” Lumine said. “I could have seriously injured you.”
“Ah, but you didn’t,” he retorted. “If I was actually the attacker, you would have been knocked out by now.” He stuffed his hands into his pockets. “Let me walk you home.”
Lumine gripped the strap of her school bag, walking away. “No thank you. Especially not after what you just did.”
“Lumine, wait—”
She stopped in place. He hadn’t ever said her name before, she realized, and her heart fluttered at how it sounded coming from him. Too close for comfort.
“Don’t you dare follow me,” she said through gritted teeth, continuing to walk home.
After a bit, she glanced back, and Childe was still standing there, hands in his pockets, looking back behind at the school.
Lumine trusted her brother more than anyone in the world. She knew he wanted the best for her, and she knew the best thing would be to do what Aether said: don’t get involved with Childe.
Then...why did it hurt to push him away?
* * *
The next day, the student council was again in a hurry to get their work done on time, before the sun set. After stacking piles upon piles of papers on Lumine’s desk, the council collectively let out a sigh when the last stack was put down.
“Aether isn’t here again?” Xiao asked.
“Someone at his store quit suddenly, so he’s been called in to cover their shifts for now,” Lumine explained. “He sends his apologies.”
“Well, let’s get out of here quickly,” Amber said.
Soon the council was walking through the hallways, towards the entrance, ready to part ways.
“Amber and I have to rush to the store before they close,” Bennett said, him and Amber already running down the halls. “We gotta get some supplies for our Outdoors Club!”
“Bye! Thank you for your work!” Lumine called after them. She turned to Noelle and Xiao. “Are you good to walk Noelle home, Xiao?”
Xiao nodded. “What about you, Madame President?”
“Hey, I survived last night,” she said. “I’ll survive tonight as well. Plus, I have to help lock up anyways.”
The boy frowned slightly. “If you insist.”
“I do insist,” Lumine said quickly. “Thank you both for your work also. Get home safe, okay?”
“Thank you, Madame President,” Noelle responded softly.
Xiao and Noelle walked away, and Lumine started to make her way around the school, locking up all the entrances. She had been such a stellar president that all the administration trusted her with this task if she and her council had to stay late into the evening.
As she locked the last entrance, she heard footsteps behind her.
She turned quickly, eyes scanning the entire hallway.
But there was nothing there. The hall was empty, and it was silent.
She let out an exasperated sigh. Maybe she was overworking herself again and her brain was playing tricks on her. She made her way towards the front gates.
BZZZT!
The lights above her flickered then went out, plunging her into darkness.
What?
“Don’t move,” a voice said behind her.
“If you listen to us, we won’t hurt you,” a second voice added.
Something plastic pressed into her back, and she recognized it as a taser. Then, someone started to wrap her arms in duct tape. They put a piece of tape across her mouth.
They walked around her, looking down at her. One of the men was short and stocky, wearing glasses, while the other man was tall and thin, glassesless.
“We’ve been watching you for a while, Lumine,” Glasses said. “And we’ve really gotten to know you. We know you’re such a good student council president.”
“Yes, so diligent and selfless,” No Glasses added. “Just relax, okay? We’ll show you a good time as your reward.”
As they rambled, Lumine’s mind ran through all the possibilities of how to absolutely pummel them.
The only thing stopping her was the taser, currently in Glasses’ hand; she couldn’t be hit by that, otherwise she was done for.
She knew what to do. Now to just wait for the right moment.
* * *
She’s taking longer than usual, Childe thought, leaning against the wall of the school building. A while had passed since he had seen the rest of her student council leave, which meant she was all alone now.
Sure, she was going to be mad at him for coming here again, but he needed to. His thoughts wouldn’t settle unless he saw her get home safe.
He knew she was more than capable on her own. She wasn’t weak.
But she was human. And there are some bad people in the world, ready to do anything to hurt you, Lumine.
He sighed, starting to walk away. Maybe she already left and I just missed it…
“Lumine.”
Childe froze. His head snapped to the door, eyes wide. He had barely heard it, but someone had said her name. Inside the school.
He didn’t move a muscle, straining to hear more.
“...so diligent…” another voice spoke.
Two. There were two attackers.
Feeling the muscles in his body ignite, Childe quickly moved to the nearest window.
An icy dagger ripped into his heart.
Kneeling on the ground was Lumine, her arms bound, her mouth sealed, and two men were standing before her, one wielding a taser. The two men started walking towards her.
Childe’s face twitched, like he was subconsciously suppressing a snarl.
He stepped back, winding his body up, ready to kick through the window and go flying in.
Just as his foot shattered the glass, Lumine stood up, ripping through her bindings.
Huh?
* * *
Glasses and his friend started walking towards her, practically drooling.
Now!
Lumine stood up, pulling her arms apart, and breaking through the duct tape bindings. She ripped the duct tape off her mouth.
“You know me?” Lumine shouted as the two men watched her with wide eyes. “You don’t know a single thing about me.”
Using their shock to her advantage, she kicked the taser out of Glasses’ hand, then grabbed him by his collar, easily throwing him over her shoulder. She turned her attention to No Glasses, who was still frozen in shock. She easily swung her fist at his face, and he passed out on the floor next to Glasses.
Standing over their bodies, breathing heavily, a loud burst of laughter sounded behind her. Leaping back, ready to strike another attacker, she stopped when she saw who it was.
“Childe?!” she cried between heavy breaths.
Childe continued laughing hysterically, then wiped at the corners of his eyes. “Just...wow,” he managed to get out.
Lumine looked past him. Her jaw dropped. “Th-the window!”
Childe blinked, then looked behind him. “Oh. About that…”
* * *
After giving their reports to the police, Childe and Lumine stood side by side as the police car drove away, the two perpetrators locked away in the back of the cruiser.
“You’re really going to pay for the window?” Lumine asked, breaking the silence.
“Of course. I broke it.”
“It’s going to be expensive.”
He shrugged. “A small price to pay.”
Lumine bit her lip.
He came to my rescue. Again. She looked at the shattered glass on the floor. He was really ready to save me.
All she had done was push him away. And yet, here he was, by her side, coming to her rescue again.
“Thank you,” Lumine said softly.
Childe looked at her, his eyes slightly widened. Then a smile, just as soft. “Anytime.”
She returned the smile, and it felt okay. It felt right.
Maybe Aether was wrong. Afterall, he wasn’t the one spending time with Childe and learning more about him. How Childe could be caring and selfless and so patient with her.
Yes. Aether, I think…
...I think you may be wrong about Childe.

please explain your beef with chilumi, genuinely curious
hi anon,
even though the traveler is rumoured to be 500+ the body of lumine is still speculated by the citizens to be a minor (eg; cant drink) that and the ship DOES NOT make any fucking sense??? i’d rather not think that lumine, an enemy of the fatui, had to use her energy to save the entirety of liyue from the 11th harbinger (no his story quest does NOT count it’s been implied that lumine still harbours feelings of distrust and distaste to childe .... if it wasnt obvious) they look good as a family?? NO!
childe may have praised lumine and talked about her to his fucking ... family but that doesn’t mean lumine feels the same???? i’d rather think that their relationship is strictly platonic since lumine just isnt fucking interested in that fatui bitch yknow

contains: angsty, but very much in love chilumi
word count: 1159
a/n: hey there! just had some thoughts for Childe and Lumine I wanted to write down aianxjsn. my dearest @xdilucx, I know it’s not xiayu but I hope you like it!
——————————————————————————
She was really something else, sitting here beside him, so close yet so far away. Knees pushed against her chest, arms wrapped around her legs, as if she wanted to protect herself from something, from him. Yet, despite those makeshift walls, she was as unguarded as she had ever been.
This he knows.
Her gaze is fixated on the ocean in front of them, seemingly taken with the push and pull of the tide. He wonders what could possibly going on inside that little pretty mind of hers, what thoughts made her stoic turn solemn. Those golden eyes of hers, so brilliant and bright, like diamonds mined from the depths of the starry sky, seemed sunken into the very sea she was staring at.
Her mind was treading dark waters, he thinks, but that was a place solely meant for him. It’s funny, because Childe has been drowning for a very long time, a lone narwhal exploring a depth opposite of the sky she belonged in. He does not remember the last time he had looked at his reflection and saw light inside them. And Lumine, which quite literally means light, was made of it.
Lumine could take on many forms of light, each with its own certain intensity. There was the shimmer of sass whenever her and Paimon would bicker, a subtle glow that still made people look, and then there was this radiance that comes when she has a sword in hand, the kind that stuck behind closed eyes like a sun speck after looking directly at it. But right now, she was nothing more than a twinkle, subdued and soft, like the stars just outside of Liyue. And it wasn’t that she was being outshone, but rather, she was resting, much like all else do at night.
He honestly doesn’t know which one he loves more.
Sure, he was originally taken with her in battle. After all, he believes that is his sole reason for existence, that his measure could only be worth something if melee was in the equation. Childe detests anyone and anything that is weaker than him because he learned how the world works the hard way. Or least, stumbled upon its darkest secret.
But Lumine…she was much more than strength. She was not of this world, and that was much bigger than anything he could ever achieve, could ever be.
Being around her made him want to live outside of crusades, for once. The feeling is an unfamiliar one, but it has not gone away since the day she came into his life, striking suddenly across his path like a fissure of lightening against a thundering sky. And although it was a big burst, it never touched his sea, not even his long narwhal tooth.
He was lonely, but so was she. Lumine was tiny, her reputation only making her stature a mere afterthought, and it is because of that that people often forget she is just a little meteor that fell into a foreign world. An alien, if you will.
Lumine was light, but she could never be a firefly, otherwise Childe would’ve put her in a jar by now. Though, she was far better than an animal, and he was no better than one.
She was of the sky and he was of the sea. So how they were here now, sitting along the beach like two normal people, was beyond him.
Was he this in love that it hurts? Childe has only ever known pain. And if he can’t make out this other emotion he has been feeling, he’ll continue to hurt himself in some way until someone guides him to the surface of his dark, dark ocean.
“Childe?”
Finally, something more than the waves rushing in his thoughts.
“I think I’m going to say the craziest thing in my existence.”
Oh? “And just what would that be, my lady?” he doesn’t look at her when he asks this, doesn’t know if he’ll lose himself to those golden hues. Many find themselves lost at sea, but what do you call it when you are out amongst the stars? Maybe the sky was no different than the sea. They were both outlanders in their own rights.
For the next few moments, she’s quiet. Beside him, she clenches then unclenches a fist, opens then closes her eyes, trying her best not to burst between the seams. She could explode into a million little pieces, much like a firework display at Lantern Rite, and maybe that’s just how these next few words will sound.
“I’m in love with you.”
His breath hitches in this throat.
She gulps. “I…I’ve been in love with you, for a while now.” Then she chuckles, exasperatedly. “Gods, you have no idea what you’ve been doing to me, villain.”
Finally, he gathers the courage to look at her. The bone at the bottom of her palm is pressed against her forehead, blonde bangs tangled in her fingers, gold eyes lidded but unblinking. Her other hand rests atop her knee, flat but with the tips of her fingers curled into her skin, as if she is trying to stabilize a ship in the middle of a storm out at sea. She is an image of disbelief.
“You really are a villain,” she continues, almost teasingly, “for making me feel this way.” There is a small smile on her lips now and his heart clenches at the sight.
“Pretty girl,” his voice is barely above a whisper as he leans in. “I’d say you’re just as bad as me,” he nuzzles her temple lovingly, “because you make me feel the same.”
Then before he knows it, he blinks and then she is looking at him, golden gaze as pure as diamond. And then he kisses her.
It is a delicate thing at first, the kiss. They get the angle all wrong, noses knocking awkwardly against each other while their hands and lips try to find their rightful places. Their eyes are closed, so they hesitantly reach out and cling to one another as if they’re searching through the dark.
At last, he sees the light, this time in the form of a lantern, floating gently down till it reaches the surface of the ocean at is him. It lingers long enough for the narwhal to reach the surface, to touch the light like his lips touching hers. It stays above water like she remains in his arms, even long after the kiss dissipates much in the same way a sparkler fizzes out.
Childe thinks of how long he’s waited, all the uncertainty and all the loneliness and all the heartache. And all of it has been worth it, for this, for her. It burns to nothing beneath her lips, reduced to ashes by the stroke of her fingertips against his cheekbone.
She is fire, too.
He prays that his waves won’t ever douse out her light.
