Description?: More about their child than the couple itself. Childe promised he’ll come home for the holidays, it was late but he wasn’t home yet.
Warnings: None?
Note: this was supposed to be a comic but it didn’t make it nor have I finished it yet, so I converted it into a fanfic instead :>..... also I’m bad at writing forgive me.

The little girl looked up on the clock hanging on the wall of her home. Her expression that showed hints of anticipation and hope slowly faltered as her eyes shifted from the door to the clock and repeat.
It was 10:45 pm on Christmas eve, and her father wasn’t home yet. Tears slowly fell from the young girl’s eyes, sobbing in fear that she’ll spend Christmas without his father.
“Astra, princess, do you want to help out making a fruit sala—Astra?” Lumine called out, peeking from the kitchen to the living room where her daughter stood, silently sobbing. Worried, she walked over to her, crouching down when she was finally in front of the small girl.
“What’s wrong sweetie?” she gently asks.
“P-Papa…” the little girl managed to choke out between her sobs. Lumine frowns, already knowing what has been bothering her daughter, but kept silent and let her continue.
“H-He promised….didn’t he? He s-s-said that… he’ll come home on Christmas eve…t-to spend time with us r-right?”
The small girl tried wiping her tears, failing, for it continued to flow down her cheeks.
“H-He said…. He’ll make up for the time he wasn’t home f-for work…H-He promised, pinky promised even!”
Lumine pulled her daughter closer to her, arms wrapping around her small form, comforting her. Childe, being the busy man that he is, rarely ever gets home. Especially on this month where he had to leave for a ‘business trip’. The young girl was given the promise from her father that he’ll spend the holidays with her and her mother, and under no circumstances shall he break it. Yet, Christmas eve is nearing it’s end and he’s still nowhere in sight.
“Mama….where is he? He’ll come home tonight r-right?” She looks up to her mother with expectant yet sad eyes.
“The night is still young princess, I’m sure he’ll come home. Your father is a man of his word after all. Let’s wait for a bit, shall we?” Lumine smiled softly and she gently comforted her daughter. The young child smiled, a little hope settling in her little heart. She nods, agreeing.
“In the meantime, how about you take a nap on the couch while waiting for him, while I go make a fruit salad. Sound good?” Her mother offers while taking her small hands, guiding her to the couch. She sits down as she gets covered in a fur coat to keep her warm. She looks up to her mom and smiles, muttering a small “thank you”. The young girl yawns as she watched her mother walk away. Her eyes landed on the clock one last time before her consciousness fell and faded into a deep sleep.
Later that night, perhaps an hour after, the door opened slowly making out a loud creaking noise. Astra, being a light sleeper that she is, opened her eyes slowly to the sound of the door opening. She looked at the door, her eyes widening in surprise as she looked at a strange figure by the door. She couldn’t see clearly though, mainly because the only source of light in the room at the moment was the lights hanging by the tree beside her. She squinted her eyes to try and identify the unknown figure in front of her. She was sure it was a man from the build of his body, the only other thing she was able to identify was the huge bag he was carrying ,and a Christmas hat that lay on his head.
“Excuse me sir, who are you?” she sleepily asks, rubbing her tired eyes.
“Who am I you ask?” The man walked closer to her, talking in a (obviously fake) deep voice.
As he walked closer, she saw more of him. He wore a full red suit with white fluff lacing his collar and sleeves. He dropped the huge bag that he carried and placed both hands on his hips.
“Why, I am the one and only Santa Claus!! The man that delivers the greatest of toys to good boys and girls” The man declares proudly, his full form coming into view of the little girl.
Indeed, she has heard of Santa Claus, a huge guy in a red suit, white hair and beard. He brings happiness in the form of toys to all children that have been good for the year. She never heard the end of it from her friends at play group. However, the Santa Claus in front of her right now didn’t fit the description. Sure he wore a red outfit, but he wasn’t as huge as what she saw in pictures. He may have a white moustache but he had orange hair and blue eyes. He didn’t look like Santa Claus, he looked more like….
Her eyes glistened at the realization, her body shook and small tears fell. She lunged herself towards the man and hugged him tightly.
“Papa!! You’re home!! You’re here!! You’re really here!!!” She chimes, happy tears flowing down her cheeks and a wide smile plastered on her face.
Childe was confused. How could she recognize him under his ‘great’ disguise? But no matter, what’s important is that he is home with his family. He kissed her temples gently and smiled “I’m home princess, just like I promised.”
Lumine walks out from the kitchen to the living room, a small smile gracing her lips as she watched her husband and daughter, knowing that their family would be complete as they celebrate Christmas.
BONUS:
“Sweet little princess, how did you know it was Papa and not Santa Claus that entered the room?” Childe asks, carefully placing his daughter back down on the couch.
“Hm?” the little girl tilts her head and thinks for a moment “Santy Claus has long white beard and hair, but you had orange hair when you came in. Santy is also probably three times bigger than you Papa!!” she beams.
He sighs defeated, while Lumine laughs “Looks like your little Santa cosplay failed huh?” she says.
Astra paid no mind to the couple and looked at the bag behind her father. “Papa, what’s in the bag?” she asks out of curiosity.
“Oh this? Why don’t you open it yourself princess?~” He says, moving aside, letting her approach the bag. She unties the ribbon and pull it open. Inside were plenty of toys, both huge and small ones, soft and firm. She takes out a huge whale plushie and hugs it tight.
“Thank you Papa!!” She beams, smiling from ear to ear while facing her father.
“Good thing it was toys that you brought along, I was worried you were carrying a bag of corpses from your mission” Lumine said jokingly, her smile faltering when she meets eye-to-eye with Childe, who was silently smiling at her.
“Childe…” She says in a warning tone. Childe laughed a bit and approached his wife.
“’course not, I know better than to do that…..I think” Lumine looks at him with narrow eyes, he would always be suspicious in her eyes, but she loves him all the same.
Both their eyes slowly feel unto their daughter who was now enjoying herself with a mountain of toys gifted to her by Childe.
