Lockwood & Co. really does have the best book to screen adaption I've ever seen. And the changes that were made not only improved upon the source material, but most importantly - felt true to it.
#like sometimes you watch an adaption first and go oh this is so great let me read the books#and the books are nothing like it lol#but going from show to books#the show captured the books very well#and not to bring shadow and bone into this (well nvm because that's exactly what im doing)#ive been thinking about sab recently#and even the difference with the creators behind the show#like with l&co you can see the passion these people had for it#sab has the cast but some of the writers have said some stuff :/#really sab never should have happened the way it did#netflix wanted it's two for one deal#and there's also a lot of discussion about when cancelation is likely.. do you write in a way that plans for that#or take the risk and let the story do its thing#sab is a show where they put in later stuff for the fans just in case#see: kanej#so like im grateful for it#but from the start it's almost like sab was restricted in a way it never would be able to meet its full potential#two conflicting series in eight episodes makes it hard#and i really enjoy sab when i watch it#but it's also true i havent even rewatched s2 all the way through#it doesnt have the same staying power as i wish it did#yet with all this being said netflix BETTER green light soc#it's cast and written and likely our only chance for it to happen#id love to see what theyre capable of when they can focus on one book#plus the cast MORE than deserves it#love them#flythepost

I don't get people being angry at yesterdays episode?? People have been talking about wanting Dorian back since he left and now we're finally getting that and people are mad? Yes it was a tonal shift and yes it halts the main storyline but I think the campaign needed that. The mourning and character development doesn't stop, it'll still happen in the coming episodes and acting like it should've all been resolved in one episode is odd. The players probably need time to process, Sam needs time to figure out a new character and a natural way to introduce them to the story, Matt probably needs time to figure out how to incorporate Sam's new character and how last episode changes things in his narrative. And both those things are hard to do in an episode Sam couldn't be there for. So they stalled. By bringing back a fan favorite and show what's been happening with him and his path back towards the Bells Hells in order to set up his (wanted, asked for and anticipated) return to the cast. I get that it was unexpected and can understand it's not everyones favorite development (not everyone liked EXU and thats totally normal and fine) but why the anger? You don't have to watch the last two hours if you don't want, but why ruin it for those who are exited by this development or what it could mean for the future of the campaign? Personally I think this will be good for the campaign long term. I want to see where this goes. And also I'm just so happy to have Robbie and Dorian back because I've missed them so much.

I love the m2 references in m3 a whole lot but the lack of almost any specific m1 rep slays me

Why do people care about what a creator does if they like the stuff they have made?
This is a difficult question to answer. It depends on the context, typically on a case-by-case basis.
For example, Rowling is a Terf; so she's been transphobic. She's also lied to her audience and has lost her touch in writing over the years. She's an extremely rich woman and a popular one at that, which means she can use her platform and money towards transphobia; just like the FNAF creator, Scott Cawthon. Scott donated thousands upon thousands of dollars to Donald Trump's campaign and is also pro-life; meaning this guy used a good portion of FNAF money towards a political campaign over who has influence over the USA Government.
Disney Company had sent $100K+ to Republican Parties in Florida, a party that managed to pass a "Don't Say Gay" Bill to prevent schools from teaching about LGBTQ+; and supports the anti-abortion bill, which I hate to remind people, Abortion is no longer protected federally because Roe vs Wade was overturned, and several women and their doctors have been tracked, harassed, arrested, and jailed for it.
But bear in mind, that there is no ethical consumption under capitalism. Disney is a monopoly that controls nearly the entire entertainment industry. Rowling probably has contracts with Warner Bros, and Warner Bros has theme parks, books, and all sorts of Harry Potter-themed stuff that has been deeply ingrained into people's childhoods, which means Rowling was already influential and rich prior to her controversy; and parents and children will always consume Harry Potter content, regardless of a Rowling Cancel Post.
Scott Cawthon passed off FNAF to other people due to his cancellation (for the best, but it's unfortunate his family suffered death threats) But he still spent thousands of, basically, children's money on a political party that doesn't have their best interest in mind.
Now Vivziepop's allegations are much smaller in comparison. Some creators get a big head with all the "THIS SHOW IS PERFECT!" "YOU GOT ME OUT OF MY DEPRESSION I LOVE YOU GUYS" "YOU GUYS SERIOUSLY SAVED ME" "YOU GUYS ARE GENIUSES!" and tend to develop a sense of narcissism, and slowly become awful people towards their fellow coworkers like Ellen Degeneres did.
This is important because if anyone from the fanbase were hired since this is an indie studio, they could be taken advantage of or shocked when they learn how messy the studio is or how poorly fellow employees are treated by the person everyone worshipped.
This all being said though, cancel culture typically doesn't work. A lot of people that 'messed up' are still very much around and still vastly successful.
Some people try to take a "moral high ground" and chastise and harass people who consume content that originated from someone who has been "canceled", which isn't fair. Just because you like the Harry Potter franchise does not mean you're a transphobe. That's not logical. I've seen people claim they've pirated or got all their Harry Potter media second hand and they're STILL harassed, which is ridiculous.
And a bigger reality is, (Scott Cawthon being the exception) a lot of the content is not only made by canceled creators. Harry Potter was made crazy popular through the movies thanks to the actors, directors, and music directors. Are all those people transphobic because of association? Absolutely not. So fans should not be either. Especially if they're pirating, which is a strike against financially supporting these canceled people so they can't use your money for shady shit.
So to answer your question, people care about what a creator does because creators have power, and need to be kinder and smarter towards their fellow employees and fans. JK Rowling being a transphobe is a major jab at every trans Harry Potter fan. Scott Cawthon supporting pro-life is a jab at 80% of the FNAF female fanbase. (It's not even just the fanbase, their power extends to political stuff outside their creations, so its a major jab towards trans people, women, gays, POC, etc )
Vivziepop mistreating her employees makes her a bad boss, and potentially, a bad person. It makes Helluva Boss and Hazbin Hotel fans feel awkward about enjoying, supporting, and praising a show while some of the people who made it are suffering behind the scenes.
Some of the employees are not suffering behind the scenes, they may be on Viv's favoritism list or just don't have too much contact or trouble with her, and they do get paid and gain traction and experience through Spindlehorse, and make great connections, and they may be great people in comparison.
So... shrug? How and why you support or consume a creator, company, or franchise is up to you, and you alone. Weigh your morals and decide for yourself.
#it also doesnt help with fans try and defend the creators#because they feel guilty for liking said thing the creator made#so they feel the need to defend the creator to protect themselves from guilt#but thats because fandom culture likes to blame fans and cast them in thru association which is wrong#and these defensive fans gas light people and don't actually understand the situation behind the scenes#but you can enjoy something and not support the creator and their beliefs#it is very much possible#legit ive seen posts that are like -you so much as look at a harry potter post and you're a transphobe! sorry i don't make the rules-#those people are insane#text post#ask#so yeah you can like helluva and hazbin and also shun vivziepop#you can do it i believe in you#viv pls treat ur employees better#get ur priorities straight#andddd dont hire expensive asf voice actors

Shou Hayami was the secret guest on the first day of the latest tales of festival performing as Vholran, but then he returned as both Vholran and Woodrow for day 2 right. Which is to be expected like, haha characters sharing a voice actor, you know the drill, they exploit this a lot, we love to see it, likewise they got Okiyau reunited with what i'm sure is his favorite toy
Heck, even Shimoji (Shionne) gave a couple lines as Karya, so like, nobody gets left behind, y'know?
Anyway for day 2, the secret guest was Kratos which elated me ofc. but i just realized. That's Fumihiko Tachiki. That's. that's Balseph the man also played Balseph in the most recent game in the series im??? and. I don't think they even acknowledged it, like, at all???? did they forget?????

#do i really look this young? ;-;#after i turned 20 people started asking me for id everywhere but before that it literally never happened#but at least i spent nice time with friend on her first con and i feel like i really enjoyed convention the first time in a while#not to mention that i don't have feeling of wasted money because ticket was quite cheap for this economy lol#but ofc there was no persona merch outside of one artist i like so i bought another sticker from her xD#and met yukiko cosplayer!! she said i was the first one to recognize who was she cosplaying i cant#plus there was a video game room where we wanted to play blazblue (i believe) because of p4 cast but it was always so crowded#and unfortunately we weren't able to do fan dubs (which was our main destination) because today they were only doing bsd#and neither of us watch/read it so#anyway it was nice experience in general because i don't remember the last time i was able to enjoy con to the fullest#(if it ever happened b4 lol)#and i love that there was almost no hurry so if you really wanted you had a chance to talk with every artist without being a bother to them#or other people attending con#pau.txt

It’s not that I’m not a fan of Babylon 5, it’s more that I’m MORE of a fan of what the show could have been if it had not diverged from the way the story was being set up through Season 1. I’m a fan of what the path not taken was trying to be.
#& that probably makes me a 'bad fan' WHATEVER#I enjoy the characters and particular character moments#I have too many qualms with the storyline as a whole to probably get along very well#some ideas were GREAT but the execution was lacking#back up plans are fine and prudent JMS but it wasn't a smooth transition to the back up plan#even taking into consideration that there was no choice in cast changes#there is still a lot of tone and ambience that season 1 had that gets lost as the show goes on#and apparently for a 'reboot' it would NOT be used as an opportunity to do that#original path from the beginning#why not take the chance to redo the story from how it could have been if it had been centered around Sinclair for REALS#include Sheridan too I guess!#or let's be real: center it on Ivanova#no JMS you would do Sheridan redux??? what's the point??#his story has already been told why do it over again???

one of the things i’ve noticed that changes between this series and the last is the newfound emphasis on diplomacy & decorum. i do understand why, both in how the narrative changes w the introduction of new ideas and frameworks as well as how it might want to adapt to have its own voice, themes, etc. but gone are the days of yes-anding oneself into strange situations and in are those of yet another scene highlighting the importance of a letter of introduction—and that was personally a huge reason why i liked the original series so much. i don’t even mind like diplomacy as a narrative device when it’s equipped in interesting ways but when it’s constant introductions to new characters that go relatively similarly every time & a very clear narrative voice insisting that original solution wouldn’t work when it’s 1. more interesting to me personally and 2. not even working any better practically, then that starts to get super boring
#personal#even when i was a middle schooler reading these books i was never much a fan of the roman camp but i just didn’t have the skills or words#to put together why. i think a lot of it comes from this. because i certainly enjoy the characters a lot but this aspect just makes them#very boring to read about. i’m invested in the characters’ emotional lives but when it comes to practical stakes i find it draining & dull#which i want to emphasize is not my natural response to these things being present. it’s these specific characters in this specific world#written by this specific author that makes it not really my thing in this instance#bc stuff like political intrigue is probably my favorite type of conflict (besides like deep personal ones) and yet i’m SO picky in how it’s#done and so the stuff i like i really like#but it’s also very hard to come by#that’s not the only reason i struggle with it. i think esp coming into the third book (i’m a little under halfway through)#that it’s a bunch of things: the huge cast that sticks with us the whole time (i do like how they’re constantly broken into smaller quests#like i think that’s well done but it’s just so many characters to deal with for so long)#the rotating perspective. the emphasis on relationships (and how that’s framed w/i the text. shadow & bone s2 did something really similar#to this). etc. but yeah. in good news: the writing is much improved from tlh even for the characters i really didn’t likes’ perspective#chapters. i do think the way the cast is broken up is good and so is the conflicts between them (with some exceptions. insecurity in#relationships is kinda boring to me but so are ships in general so that’s not a surprise). there are still characters i don’t like but they#are much improved by this book (although you can basically figure out which ones i like vs. don’t based on which book they first appeared in#in this series).#so yeah that’s my review so far :p we’ll see if i stick with it because i remember not really enjoying the next two books either when i#first read them. but my tastes have changed a lot (i say. keeping nearly my exact same rankings thus far)

(recorded by your fansite) - you & toji are at the airport and it is packed. there are fans swarming you, practically suffocating you & toji, along with paparazzi taking pictures of you, flashing lights in your face. your bodyguards are literally at war trying to guard you and you have to cling onto toji’s arm to even get past the sea of people.
all of a sudden one fan somehow gets way too close, and grabs a hold of your shirt, trying to drag you towards him. you jerk forward and without even hesitating, toji just grabs the face of the crazy fan and pushes him away like it’s nothing, causing a domino effect having other fans falling over as well.
toji puts an arm around you and guides you to check your tickets, ignoring all the chaos he caused behind him.
(this got a lot of mixed reactions, some people siding with toji saying he was just protecting you & others criticising him for his rash actions that could’ve caused people to get injured 💀)

a crew members hands the microphone to a fan who has a question. “hi! hi, i’m sarah and uhm..i have a question for toji. and _____ too! do you think that your characters have a chance of..like..getting together? like romantically-?”
“yeah we’re getting together,” toji responds bluntly, reeling in the loud cheers from the crowd & he decides to add fuel to the fire. “and we’re gonna have a make-out scene too.”
the audiences goes crazy with applause and whistles, while you pinch the bridge of your nose, shaking your head in embarrassment as the cast look to see your reaction.
then the director of the show pitches in, holding her finger up. “just to clarify, we did not discuss this..”
there’s a chorus of laughs and sad ‘awws’ among the pool of fans which only makes you giggle. you didn’t even know what to say to toji’s brashness.
gojo chimes in with his loud mouth while everyone is still buzzing from toji’s unexpected words. “talking about kisses and stuff like. this guy’s just saying what he wants to hear!”
everyone starts creasing up again and you & toji lean your heads to look at each other on opposing ends of the table, and he just smirks at you while you just shake your head and try not to look so obvious..
౨ৎ fourth clip
vogue did a video with you getting ready for a fashion show you were invited to, by the designer herself.
the makeup artists had just finished your shimmery, fairy-like makeup and now the stylists were accessorising you with jewellery and fixing your hair.
“yeah i really like how the hair is done,” you say, referring to the baby pink ribbon tied cutely around your bun. “it’s really cute! and the dress is just so-”
the door to the dressing room opens and toji pokes his head in, the camera zooming in on him. “‘ya done yet?”
“toji?” you ask, exasperated. “toji get out! we’re not finished yet..”
toji looks you up and down in confusion. “ya look done to me. we gotta leave in like-”
“toji i am clearly not finished. we have to go through which jewellery looks the best with the neckline of the dress and..my whole look altogether so it doesn’t drown me out! and then we have to pick the correct shoes and make sure i’m comfortable with them and that they look pretty but also don’t take attention away from the dress. and then for the perfume-”
“yeah, yeah, alright, i get it.” toji totes. “but we have to be there in 30 minutes so-”
“oh toji’.” you sigh, looking in the mirror while the stylist fuss around you. “it’s okay if we’re late. i’m the main event. the designer invented me personally. they won’t even start the show if i’m not there. it’ll be fine, trust me.”
toji looks at you for a moment and then simply shrugs, nodding and accepting your words.
౨ৎ fifth clip
“so yeah, this is the book i’m reading.” you hold up ‘pride & prejudice’ to the camera for your fans to see. you were on a livestream, which you don’t usually do, and many fans were watching. “i just love this book. the characters are-”
loud, thudding footsteps can be heard in the background and you pause. a deep, clearly a man’s voice can be heard and then a shirtless toji walks into frame (as identified by his tattoos bc his face is not on camera). he reaches out of frame.
“sorry, jus’ forgot my shirt.”
he puts his shirt on, not even realising what he just did in front of 50,000 people and walks out of the room
it all happened so fast, you sit with your jaw open like a fish, holding your now forgotten book in your hand while the chat goes wild, spamming questions of “who is that?” “is that toji?” “you and toji are together?” in a frantic, chaotic fashion.
you just look at the camera and reach forward, abruptly ending the live. fans did not stop talking about this moment for months and they most certainly did not believe you when you said toji was just at your house for a little ‘visit’.
