Leaks about Dokutaro (aka the Poison Peach) who granted the Loyal Three their deepest wishes (to become stronger/wiser/prettier) by fixing them with the toxic chain...
Kieran vowing to become stronger and rumored to be the Champion in the Blueberry Academy arc...
Codes for 'zombie' in the DLC that haven't aired for the Teal Mask...
What I'm wondering if the player is asked to come to Blueberry Academy to help defeat the 'Champion' because they have taken control of the school and made everyone into 'zombies' with toxic chains - all part of Dokutaro's master plan (which may involve Ogrepon, may involve Terapagos) and you, as the main character, have to fight your way through the school and the 'Elite Four' to get to Kieran and free him from Dokutaro's influence. I also think that perhaps the evolution for Dipplin might go from Grass/Dragon to Poison/Dragon (to keep with the theme of caduceus and healing but the opposite, and also tying in with what happens to Pokemon influenced by Dokutaro - wouldn't be surprised if a new poison-move boosting item is introduced as well).
I know there's theories that the professor wearing a scarlet blazer and violet pants might be the villain (and she might still be involved, maybe she releases Dokutaro and introduces Kieran to it in a bid to get Terapagos) but thinking about how the first half of the DLC is more exploration and the latter half is battling makes me think about the Team Star battle mechanics but also how to raise the stakes and what makes sense story and lore wise given everything that's being set up.
Then again, maybe I'm wrong. This is just speculation after all...

#gael garcía bernal#desierto#ggb filmography gifs#desierto 2015#gael garcia bernal#this is ultimately a pretty standard thriller of the being-chased-by-an-inexorable-killer type#where the cast is picked off one by one until only the most conventionally physically attractive remain#this is good news for gael's character#on account of being played by gael#i think this one is elevated by the setting both in terms of beauty (it is stunning) and by making effective plot use of it#that apparently meant they were shooting two hours' drive away from the nearest towns with no cellphone reception etc.#which may be why we don't see more films set here#also elevated by the performances which are uniformly good#also elevated by the themes (jeffrey dean morgan's antagonist is targeting migrants crossing the border)#so we're back in the territory explored in documentaries like who is dayani cristal but this time as fictional thriller#this film came out as the trump wall discourse was hotting up and that was naturally something that got talked about in interviews#clever inclusion of antagonist's dog which effectively constrains what the characters could do to get out of the situation#so unlike in many films of this type there isn't a screamingly obvious course of action that they should have taken but unaccountably don't#still it remains a genre film sticking broadly to the conventions of that genre so the plot isn't going to astonish you#i've still avoided giffing the most spoilery moments though#tbh i suspect gael's character is still screwed at the end but then i think that's also the point (see: themes)

When Inigo Montoya experiences immeasurable loss and mental anguish that propels him to a path of vengeance that he temporarily gets lost on, becoming a worse version of himself, a roving mercenary who even inadvertently ends up furthering the goals of his sworn enemy until he meets an opponent who makes him stop take stock and recognise how lost he has become and how he doesn't have to be in this alone, swiftly followed by him killing the target of his revenge and riding off into the sunset with his new friends everyone is lining up around the block to applaud,
However when the Dragon in Damsel follows the same story beats in a font just different enough to keep from getting sued...
#damsel 2024#the princess bride#damsel dragon#inigo montoya#inigo CHOSE with open eyes to work with Vizzini and was willingly going to kill westley because a job was a job without trickery#meanwhile the dragon was actively deceived into murdering young girls that had nothing to do with her vengeance crusade#in part because even in her darkest hours she was still more principled than those who had killed her daughters#and never once considered that they might find a way to weasel out of paying the cost#I couldn't not make the comparison when Robin Wright is also RIGHT THERE#this is mostly said in jest#but also I am right#damsel and TPB have very different tones and even when he is an antagonistic force inigo has two key benefits#1. we don't go in deep on how dark his past may or may not have been as a way to establish how big of threat he is#2. he has a human face to sympathise with#damsel dragon cannot receive the same graces or there wouldn't be much of a story

I wish for an OnS antagonist that is an asshole full stop. No tragic backstory. No “I was also…” past. No “it’s for my loved one” goals. Just a big, arrogant asshole who does evil just because.
#This isn’t to hate on Shikama’s character#if all of this was because of a tragic backstory surrounding his son and people go for it#but it gets tiring when every OnS antagonist ruins other people’s lives#and then we get a flashback basically telling us they are also victims too#I know every character here is doing what is advantageous to them but all these parallels are becoming too repetitive#that it is becoming kind of hard to get a ‘unique’ character#basically#I don’t think there is anything wrong from a narrative standpoint to have an antagonist that has no sad story to back it up#by ‘back it up’ I mean ‘explain’ not ‘justify’ their actions#owari no seraph#seraph of the end
