breath slowly, i'm here to catch you - 3.7k words, sickfic Sapnap gets sick after a brief argument and George takes care of him

in a previous post i mentioned how my favorite fics when i used to main dnf were these real long dnf fics and then this one gen dteam fic. this is that fic! i reread it every few months bc it makes me happy :) if you like hurt/comfort sickfics, this one's for you!

tonight we are dead - 6.5k words, afterlife au in which Dream wakes up in the afterlife and he meets two pretty strangers

this fic, set in the 1980s, has such a cool concept and is written so well. the interactions are so natural and captivating, you really fall in love with the characterizations. loved this fic from start to finish

there's something broken about this, but i might be hoping about this - 7.8k words, soulmate au, modern with magic au Soulmate AU: You have an animal that only you and your soulmate can see

this fic tugged at my heartstrings but it's so so sweet. it's a soulmate au and modern with magic au where Dream is a necromancer and Sapnap is dead :') might reread this one actually

Hurry Up and Wait - 7.3k words, royalty au, major character death Dream's job is to charter secret love letters between George, king of Mercuria and Sapnap, king of Saturnae. Then he reads one of the letters and falls in love with the kings through their correspondences

THIS ONE HURTSS but it's so lovely and has such a lovely concept. definitely recommend this one if you're a fan of royalty aus and love to see your favorite blorbo (Dream) suffer

You Look Nothing Like My Dreams - 5.5k words, jealous Dream Dream wasn’t bitter about it, not really. He didn’t care that George would quite happily throw his legs across Sapnap’s lap, or that Sapnap, who used to hug Dream every morning and curl up next to him whenever they chilled out in the same space, now spent half his time wrapped around George instead

Dnf established relationship/or get together early in the story + Sapnap third wheel/feeling left out, pining, yearning, hurting and pretending to be fine until they eventually realise he’s not. Like I’m so sorry I like to see him suffer (in fiction obv!) but it’s my fav thing I read over and over 😭 Probably cause I have a bias for him/project a lot on him and prefer his pov. And then a scene at the end somewhere, where dnf show him so much love and care ❤️ Anyways, there’s already many good Dnn recommendations on here so I’ll just add on to it with some more: Us Together by birdsofmalcontent. But yeah, absolutely love dnn and glad I’m not the only one so there can be at least some fics for us out here 😝

The most common dnn is sapnap suffering, my poor sappy nappy. Then there's a tie between George feeling left out cause dreamnap had been living together for a year and Dream feeling left out bc of comfy + UK.

I do not condone dnn fics and I would just like to note that there's a difference between a fic where the conflict is started because of a natural fuck up that is resolved within the fic versus writing george as a massive asshole because your plot demands for it (which is just Not Good)

I don’t mind dnn and I would like to read more fics of them but there was too many fics where Dream is left out/cheated on/upset and it made me feel icky so I gave up on dnn fics.

I want to try again soooo do you have any fic recs where Dream is not treated horribly lol?? Because I’m looking at the wrong authors. I don’t mind angst, but I don’t want it to trigger my droloisms too much!

I think it's a three-fic series? There's some really good stuff about body issues and learning to accept yourself. And a really really good shower scene between Dream and Sapnap.
