I HAVENT DONE AU RA YET but I love the lizards…. My best friends lizardguys. I haven’t gotten to endwalker yet and I know there’s a few more auri characters in there so…maybe my ideas will change But

au ra are I think probably the most diverse species out there just based on HOW MANY lizards exist and how BIG the azim steppes/doma/their reach is. I don’t know if I’d divide species traits by xaela/raen or if they all share that diversity, but I’m tempted to say there are fewer raen, most of whom are either in solitude or hanging out in doma, and they kind of remain proud of their celestial lineage, so they on the whole have more often “draconic” traits, while xaela with their many different lifestyles on the steppe on the whole will be more diverse. Like eastern dragons versus every other dragon species

so! between everyone I think their scales are Way More, most of which are very very hard and difficult to scratch or dent but some of which are soft like some reptiles wherein it’s not necessarily a scale, which sheds layers (like turtles shed their scutes), and more like skin, which sheds in flakes (like snakes or geckos). Au ra whose scales are soft like that are generally the same types of au ra who can pop their (also often soft and thick!) tails off at will and regrow them. Most au ra have very tough, muscly scaly tails, anywhere from big thick crocodile tails to thin draconic tails to tails that have ossified spines or clubs at the end (like dinosaurs!). Since they’re so strong, they can be used to emote — hitting them against the ground is a happy sign, while dragging it against things is Not. Also kids tend to grab and pull them a lot, which leads to the common thought of tail pulling being seen as kiddy. It is quite rude to do to an au ra as an adult. Their scales can sometimes spread to cover most of their body, and sometimes be restricted to the forearms, face, tail, and legs. their horns (aside from being basically ears which I think is cool, they must be pretty complex organs on the inside — I think they can shed but only the tips, like goats, and breaking any further is both really hard and very harmful not only to their ears but because they’re full of blood vessels!! Be careful! ) aren’t really used for fighting or anything they are there for hearing and temperature regulation and in defense. Au ra don’t really, like, sweat? They’re warm-blooded, but don’t sweat. So an important thing to keep in mind if you’re going into the desert is that overheating looks different in an au ra vs another race (lethargy, drooling, and unfocused eyes are your main tells). many of their horns point forwards to block their face. so no, sleeping isn’t that hard bc they sleep like loafs, but yes kissing is hard :( that’s not really a thing they do unless someone else wants to they snuggle and rub scales. so says yoshi p

Protofeathers are basically dinosaur fur - they are NOT feathers. They’re little hollow filaments somewhere between a feather shaft and hair. These ones are pretty stiff. That’s why au ra hair can so easily stick right up like a cockatiel. Some au ra have been noted to have protofeathers on their neck and arms like fur too :0

i have been. Speaking for a long time. uhhhh let’s see they have feets anywhere from plantigrade (clawed, kinda geckoey) to digitigrade (DINO!!!), their claws really need trimming often bc they don’t stop growing, they are not obligate carnivores like hrothgar but like miqote they need more meat than they do veggies, and it’s sometimes very hard for a non- au ra to tell if the big growl they’re doing is happy or not because big growl is how they purr! Like wolves going HHRHRRRRRR (happy). Also im obsessed with their limbal rings im so sad they’re so faded in the graphical update. they gotta glow. Most au ra are also colorblind in some way BUT! They can faintly see infrared

Also in researching lizards i found out that some lizards and frogs have like a third eye that can’t See like images but it CAN detect light and darkness and stuff? It’s called a parietal eye! Garleans… is amphibian (taking notes) /j

Gargoyles: Here in Manhattan thots and opinions

⚠️Spoilers under the cut⚠️

Well the first volume of the new gargoyles run has concluded and I don’t know how I feel about it…..

Overall I enjoyed Goliath’s Perry Mason adventure, he was the best fit to be apart of the first court case regarding U.S. citizenship for gargoyles. But besides that I really don’t give a fuck about the Dracon shit!

I enjoy Antoine, she’s very slay but Dino…. Dino could have been someone else. Maybe I’m just too stuck on my idea for Xander Thailog venturing into organized crime. But Dino was a flop for me.

Coldstone turning against the clan again, goddamnit old man(men?). The new maguffins turned his ass right back to Demona and he better leave Coldfire outta this.

Speaking of the new maguffins, I am betting that we are going to go global again. Hopefully with King Arthur, Griff, and possibly Macbeth. We haven’t seen that old man yet so that’s where I’m betting he will be.

If not global maybe national? With the recognition of gargoyles as citizens this could lead to some Nat born U.S gargoyles coming out of the woodwork. Maybe even a migration by those gargs to New York City.

The time spent developing Gnash was great, wish that was equal with other characters bc I was missing Hudson a lot but there were two big ass plots here so Greg is just on thin ice for me.

But that’s sorta ones of the problems for me because I care more about the characters than the main story they are going with and they haven’t done much spending time wwith them like in the tv show. It’s a hinderance of the media form perhaps, I don’t remember if he did this with Young Justice I stopped watching when Wally died.

Overall I will continue on to the next issue but we need more consistent releases and more focus on characters for me.

Giving RWBY characters digimon partners part 1: Ruby and Weiss

if your wondering why I'm doing this, I am hyper fixating on digimon RN and i just really like crossovers

Ruby Rose

ROOKIE/CHILD STAGE: shoutmon

So i went with Shoutmon because it's red digimon that's been used by the main character of a digimon series before and it leads well into the evos i want, but i imagine him and Ruby having a fun dynamic, with shoutmon being hot blooded and kinda egotistical and Ruby having to rain him in a bit.

also shoutmon is associated with music and listening to music is the first thing we see Ruby doing the show proper.

(honorable mentions Guilmon, Agumon, Hackmon/Huckmon, Agumon Black 2006)

CHAMPION/ADULT STAGE: GROWMON

i chose him because it's a big red dino dragon, but i also like the juxtaposition between the digital hazard and the sliver eyes, one being this holy gift from the gods the other being a unstable power of destruction.

(honorable mentions Black Growmon, Red Vdramon, Tyranomon)

ULTIMATE/PERFECT STAGE: WARGROWMON/MEGALOGROWMON

bigger growmon with blades and guns, two thing Ruby loves, it leads well into the megas/ultimates, moving on.

(honorable mentions Metal Fantomon, Metal Tyranomon)

MEGA/ULTIMATE STAGE NO.1: CHAOSDRAMON

so here we have a giant red death robot, that has several weapons, is constantly upgrading itself (just like Ruby upgrading crescent rose) and uses guns to maneuver itself in the air just like Ruby. it even has skull kneepads for the edgyness factor, it's perfect!

MEGA/ULTIMATE STAGE NO.2: BLITZGREYMON

yeah I'm giving all the MC's split megas, why because it's common among digi-destined and felt like it. but look at this guy, blood red, made out of guns, he also moves around in the air using his back guns and said back gun look like draconic crescent roses. another perfect mega.

(honorable mentions Rosemon, Dukemon, medieval Dukemon, Rust Tyranomon, Bryweludramon)

Weiss schnee

ROOKIE/CHILD STAGE: HACKMON/HUCKMON

yes i gave the digimon with a literal red hooded cape to someone who isn't Ruby, but this meant to be reference to Nicholas Schee's red cape, and as Weiss aspires to be like her grampa, hackmon aspires to be one of the royal knights, and both the royal knights and Nicholas can morally dubious to say the least. Also both him and Weiss were trained from birth for combat. i see hackmon acting like a armored talking dog and Weiss loving her for it.

And with hackmon kinda looking and kinda acting like Ruby and shoutmon acting like a more cartoonish Weiss, and both Weiss and shoutmon being singers, Ruby and Weiss when they first meet wonder "did our partners get accidentally switched at some point? did something happen?"

CHAMPION/ADULT STAGE: BAO HACKMON

just the next stage of hackmon, i forgot to mention that her name hackmon, and we know Weiss has some hacking skills because of the DC movie, so that's worth bringing up i guess

ULTIMATE/PERFECT STAGE: SAVIORHACKMON

yep just the next stage of hackmon... the gem on her chest can represent Dust i guess

(honorable mentions: canoweissmon, Crys Paledramon )

MEGA/ULTIMATE STAGE NO.1: JES-MON

hackmon's final form, a knight just like Weiss's main summon, who has her own summons (their names are Atho, René and Por BTW) and she literally walks around on circular glyphs.

Weiss also has a lot of angelic imagery associated with her (i will leave my opinion on said imagery out of this post) and JESmon is kinda sorta... literally based on Jesus, yes digimon Jesus is very pointy dragon knight who has familiars named after the 3 musketeers... god i fucking LOVE digimon

MEGA/ULTIMATE STAGE NO.2: CRESGARURUMON

if Ruby has a Greymon, Weiss must have a Garurumon, this does feel like a natural evo for savior Hackmon, with cape splitting in half and the gem changing color, and Weiss does love dogs, but we both know the real reason i gave her this digimon...

(honorable mentions: Durandamon, Armaon, Siriusmon, Hexablaumon)

JOGRESS: OMNIMON ALTER S/ OMEGAMON ALTER S

it's the main character and her lancer, you kinda have to give them an Omnimon, and this is the best Omnimon! this also makes up for cres Garurumon being gold by having the entire main body be white.

also jogress digievolution in some continuities involves the tamers hearts beating as one... whiterose shippers take as will.

Didn’t want to send this in PM, so here’s a list of all dragons in From Soft’s most recent-ish games.

Demon’s Souls: Blue Dragon, Red Dragon, Dragon God (technically a demon)

Dark Souls: The Gaping Dragon, Seath the Scaleless, Stone Dragon, Hellkite Drake, Zombie Dragon, Black Dragon Kalameet.

DS2: Guardian Dragon, Sinh the Slumbering Dragon.

DS3: Oceiros the Consumed King (technically), Ancient Wyvern, King of the Storm, Arch Dragon.

Sekiro, Shadows Die Twice: Divine Dragon

Elden Ring has a ton of dragons, most of whom are pallet swaps/copy pasted with different names, so I’ll just list the ones that stick out for me: Glintstone Dragon Adula, Magma Wyrm Makar, Dragon Lord Placidusax, Lich Dragon Fortissax, Elder Dragon Greyoll.

Tawney:

Blue Dragon: Aw, I like his beak. I like avian dragons. ••>

Red Dragon: Google Images shows him with a mouthful of dudes. Just legs sticking out. He wouldn’t do that if they just enriched his environment.

Dragon God: *stares* My trousers seem to have been burned off. Oh nooo…

Gaping Dragon: Before googling him (her?), I was thinking, Someone’s going to be gaping after I’m throu- Then I saw a screenshot and, uh, no vagina-dentata for Tawney, thanks.

Seath & Kalameet

Stone Dragon: If the Stone Dragon and the Hellkite Drake boinked, their offspring could be named Kite Moss.

Hellkite Drake: A good insult would be, “Oh, go sit on a Hellkite Drake.”

Zombie Dragon: I think that’s just a dino fossil.

Guardian Dragon: You may boop the snoot. Once.

Sinh: Sleeping cutie.

Oceiros: “Oceiros… sought to achieve great power through harnessing his royal blood. He… uncovered… notes on gaining immortality… Oceiros was driven insane by the Paledrake’s writings and chose to follow the path of the dragon, his devotion transforming him into a twisted abomination.” Yo, does he want to give Ocelotte a half-sibling? Or a clutch of them?

Ancient Wyvern: Perhaps he wouldn’t look so ancient if he just moisturized.

King of the Storm: Okay, this guy’s weak to lightning damage, so a cattle prod should work.

Archdragon: Dragon/knight polycule.

Divine Dragon: It’s a good thing he seems nocturnal, because otherwise imagine how much sunscreen you’d have to slather just on his back.

Adula: Blue crystals on the snout. 🤨 Nose candy…

Makar: “Becoming a Magma Wyrm is what happens to those who pursue the path of Dragon Communion and lose themselves to the dragons' influence.” GOOD. LOVE ME SOME DRACONIZATION.

Placidusax: Flacid sacks.

Fortissax: Forty sacks.

It’s usually “mama protecting daughter” but what about the other way around?

As [Jo] struggled to maintain consciousness, a familiar tattered cloak leapt into the darkened edges of her vision. Kaja cried a sharp command in draconic, her voice broken by grief and anger, her clothes billowing as snowflakes whirled around her. The orc saw her and adjusted his stance so that he would strike her instead. Jo tried to move, tried to speak, tried to get the orc’s attention back on her, but her body gave out and she crashed helplessly to the ground.

Kaja stared down the orc, positioning herself between him and Jo, her blue eyes flashing dangerously as dragon magic crackled across her skin. Dodging the axe blow, she lunged forward with a feral snarl and slammed into him, icy claws piercing his chest and tearing at his flesh, leaving behind deep frostbitten gashes.

As more enemies closed in around them, Jo saw Kaja crouch over her protectively, a vicious growl that seemed too deep and monstrous rumbling in her throat.

Then she saw nothing but darkness.

(then later on...)

“Come here,” Jo said, reaching out her hand and wincing from the pain the movement caused her. The blanket shifted and Jo could see her heavily bandaged torso, soaked through with dark blood at her flank where the orc had sunk his greataxe during the siege.

Kaja grasped Jo’s hand in hers, then frowned when she saw the bandages. “I’ll make more tomorrow,” she said, the exhaustion palpable in her voice.

“Oh this?” Jo forced a smile. “Don’t worry about it. It barely even hurts anymore,” she lied.

“I’ll make more,” Kaja repeated, her eyes downcast.

“Kaja,” Jo said. Kaja looked back at her tentatively. “You saved my life. Thank you.”

Kaja’s breath caught in her throat, her gaze straying to that faraway place that Jo had often seen it go. Several moments of silence passed before Kaja was able to speak. “I was scared,” she whispered.

“War frightens even the bravest among us. You fought with courage.”

Kaja shook her head, snow falling gently from her hood. “No. I was scared you would die.” A tear broke free and slid down her cheek.
