Crowley Can See Stars (Part 2)
I am furthering the idea of Crowley’s vision and have a headcanon I am in LOVE WITH and that he is partially colorblind due to his snake eyes, and has deuteranopia. He has two cones in his eyes that are able to define primary colors. This would be unlike a human, who has three functioning cones in their eyes allowing them to see THREE. Red, Green, and Blue.
Crowley’s color-blindness would make his vision sensitive to the colors Blue and Yellow. He would possess an insensitivity to green light, therefore making it very difficult for Crowley to differentiate greens, reds, and yellows.
Example:
Tumblr media
The top would be what Crowley would see as an Angel. The bottom would be what Crowley sees in the present with his snake eyes. Browns, yellows, and blues would be his spectrum when it comes to colors.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He would pretty much see Aziraphale in full color, as he dresses in beige clothes, has very light hair, and blue eyes. Crowley would in fact, see WHITE in the rainbow. I personally love how nebulae look in Crowley’s eyes as a snake. The stars are still visible to him, and even being colorblind, the stars are quite beautiful.
This couples in with my headcanon of Azi having star shaped pupils.
I would honestly LOVE to see fanart of Crowley with his color blindness. Him believing he has curly brown hair, and yellowish eyes which are around the same shade. Aziraphale having the prettiest periwinkle eyes to him and almost blinding white hair. (Pls credit me for the idea if you do decide to draw this❤️✨)
(I plan on writing a fanfic about this very topic so if any of you do write fanfiction and would be interested in this, let me know. Crowley would see the stars as a pretty periwinkle shade and believe that they are just slightly purple-ish. Which I think is precious.🐍💫)

I've mentioned it before a few times but I do headcanon Ice as color-blind.
It's come to my attention (by @strangelove97, hope you don't mind me tagging you??) that flying planes while color-blind is not exactly possible and I was a bit curious how come since I assumed american eyesight regulations would be similar to the ones my own grandfather had to pass for his pilot licenses (military&civilian). I'm going on a limb here and have overthought everything, so whoever is reading this, bare with me and I'll explain why I find the idea of Ice being color-blind so entrancing.
pictures/examples used here might not be 100% accurate as there are different degrees of color blindness, within each type, I'm merely using photoshop to demonstrate the general idea
The most common color blindness is the red-green type which affects your perception of green and red wavelengths of visible light. I'll try not to go too deep into color theory here, but the majority of colors are not just one hue but rather have percentages of different hues mixed in, too, so it's never affecting only pure red and green, but also colors that are tinted with red and green, i.e. reddish brown, sea blue, etc.
There are mild forms of red color blindness - deuteranomaly (makes red look more green and less bright), protanomaly (affects only saturation of green and red); and slightly more severe protanopia and deuteranopia (which make it hard to tell green and red apart). Displayed below is deuteranopia (left - normal vision):
Tumblr media
In aviation, most navigation in the dark is based on red and green, the standard for runway lights is red for runway approach, end lights, and for precision approach lights, green for runway threshold lights and taxiway centerlines, and different warmths of white light for the rest, with the exception of some yellow edge lines at the end of the runway.
In civilian aviation, even with red-green color blindness, you could have a pilot license limited to only flying during daylight. However, even if we look at basic carrier landings for USN, it's virtually impossible with red-green color blindness --- the optical landing system used especially on carriers (but also on some land bases) is dependent on red and green lights; and out of all the lights, including landing markings on the deck, only the carrier edge is lightened up by blue.
Ice's color blindness is not the red-green type.
I based my headcanon on the colorblindness that runs in my family, which is the yellow-blue type, that affects anything that has a tinge of yellow or blue wavelengths --- which makes it hard to tell the difference between blue and green, purple and red, and yellow and pink. It also can make colors look less bright as yellow is the color that usually is responsible for increased saturation (in simplified terms). This will not affect most of the lights and colors used in aviation in a major way -- you'll still be able to pass the eye tests, especially if you 'train' yourself a little bit.
Tumblr media
Now, why do I like this headcanon for Ice so much?
My dad saw the sky and the grass as the same color, but different shades - green. In general, with blue-yellow blindness, your world gets greener and more pinkish, just because, as I said, yellow impacts the saturation of many things, including natural light. Blue is responsible for a similar thing. Think like color correcting - blue and yellow are opposite on the color wheel.
Now, the USN (and military in general, probably??) use very specific shades for uniforms, paints, machinery, etc. It's like this washed-out green with underlying, de-saturated, you know what I mean.
This is the color-picked shade of their uniforms in the original Top Gun, a darker shade, and a pic that has a clear view of Mav's eyes:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, various lighting will make the above shades different, either warmer or cooler, or more washed out or brighter - for example, said shade #435D52, is made of ~ 27% red, 38% green, 33% blue, coldness and warmth of shades is manipulated by the type of light wavelength you receive alongside the primary hue wavelength, blue and yellow. So to make those shades different depending on saturation/light, you would need to be able to see yellows and blue. Striped down of blue, colors rely on black for darkness and mix it with the raw, untinted green hue.
Ice can't see yellow or blue, so that leaves him with that raw untined green.
And Mav's eyes are just the right type of green - the raw, untined green.
On top of that human irises change color only after prolonged exposure to light (spots of brown melanin in the iris) and flick the light off, reflecting it rather than absorbing the wavelength with a different than primary hue, thus staying the same shade. So Mav's eyes aren't affected by black, shadows aside.
So, most of everything around Ice, basically, whether he is outside with the open sky, or in a training room, or confined to the carrier, or just surrounded by people in flight suits -- is in the shade of Mav's eyes.
Tumblr media
Which makes Ice go bonkers at the beginning, obviously, because he is trying not to think about that tiny cocky asshole and can't stop seeing the shade of his eyes.
But as the years go on, and they stay together, and they keep on loving each other, it becomes a form of comfort, that the shade of Mav's eyes is everywhere.

What's everyone's silliest Worldless headcanons? I'll go first:
Dark starfolks can mimic noises
Aven has Visual Snow Syndrome, while Edda has deuteranopia (Red/ Green colourblindness)
Summum is actually pretty chill, and only put on a more threatening persona in order to be taken seriously
Angel can't fly... and will 11/10 unironically call themselves "Chicken."
Aven would really like dogs. Edda is more of a cat person.

One of the best headcanons I made back in the 2017-18 era of my Wattpad roleplay accounts was making Fan red-green colorblind (specifically Deuteranopia), it’s such a simple thing but boy does it open the door for some cool stuff hehehed.
Like I just imagine him not finding out until later in life and test tube being like “so I’ve been yellow-brown to you this entire time” and he’s like “YEAH I GUESS?!” And she makes colorblind glasses that actually work and he cries seeing her as bright green for the first time.
I bet with season 3 he’d also get emotional seeing Bot as having little green details rather than just seeing yellow.
Anyways thanks for coming to my ted talk!

Colorblindness w/ The Chain
I thought it would be interesting to see what the Chain would look like with colorblindness (dichromatic in particular).
Tumblr media
Original (trichromatic)
Tumblr media
Deuteranopia (green-blind, this is also what dogs see)
Tumblr media
Protanopia (red-blind)
Tumblr media
Tritanopia (blue-blind)
Four's tunic becomes just yellow-green and a patch of blue in both deuteranopia and protanopia.
Legend hardly changes with tritanopia; I mean, he's basically wearing tritanopia: the outfit; he even gets his pink hair!
...Along with everyone else, apparently. lol
Hmm... possible colorblindness headcanon for Legend?? I believe I've read a fic or two that gave Twilight deuteranopia...

📂 Delanceys?
i been waitin’ for this one! turn it up!
oscar is colourblind. he has deuteranopia specifically, which is a type of red-green colourblindness which means he can’t see green. he doesn’t really know he’s colourblind, at least not for a long time, but morris notices how sometimes oscar struggles to see or read stuff, and sometimes does stuff wrong if instructions given are colour-based (like wiesel barking at oscar to bring him a red bag out of a pile of mixed colours) so he tries to help, just like oscar helps him with so much stuff. it honestly makes morris happy to be able to help, because he can’t read or write and can’t really count, can’t tie his own shoelaces or do his own buttons up quickly, but he can see all the colours clear as day, so there’s at least one way he can be useful.
oscar taps the top of one of the ink pots while they’re working at the presses, and asks morris, “which one’s red?”
morris finds it and hands it over, and oscar ruffles his hair as he thanks him. morris beams.
send me a 📂 + a newsies ship/character for a random useless headcanon <3

Purrfect Apawcalypse Headcanons
Pulled out of my messy fanfic notes + random stuff I came up with while making this post
Just a heads-up: the headcanons have more to do with the setting then specific characters.
-There are a few students in Hachiko High that immigrated from places where cat-dog relations are generally better. Places where their specific populations are low enough to easily ignore each other, or places where they're lumped in the same category as the "weaker/more sheltered" carnivores. These students mostly keep quiet, though, due to how mean some of their classmates can be about things associated with cats (Ginger's bullies, for example). Patches is one of these students (or at least 2nd/3rd gen. would totally explain why he doesn't have a lot of "dog personality traits" and was easily accepting of Angel at first)
-At least one other classmate at HHS had seen Patches's locker shrine. Said classmate didn't get a good enough look to recognize Angel was a cat, nor were they gossipy enough to go around telling people the specifics, but it did add on to Patches's reputation as a weirdo.
-Deuteranopia (red-green colorblindness) is a lot more common for sentient dogs, but still less than 25% because they're anthro. Olive has it, and it's why their favorite outfit is yellow and blue.
-Adoption is actually super common for dogs in this world. Due to the average lifespan for PA dogs being at ~27, most don't live long enough to see their biological kids reach adulthood. Usually when puppies are born, they get socialized with an older cousin or parent's younger sibling or family friend who can watch over them when the bio parents die. (RIP Patches for not being socialized properly, and RIP Sparky who'll be expected to provide for his younger siblings when he gets older.) (If I didn't make this headcanon then other stuff would have to be true instead)
-(For cats the socialization isn't as important due to solitary nature, but when it happens it focuses more on siblings/cousins in the same age range.)
-Food with caffeine (in areas with less animals that can digest it, at least) is viewed as an addictive and dangerous drug. Doug is considered a dealer by both Kemono Town & Woods standards.
-Before the massacre, Brownie was one of those students who jumped between friend groups but wasn't very close to any of them (on account of only having 2 months to get to know them since she's a freshman). It's why she has good social skills yet wasn't too upset at Coco for killing everyone.
-Other factors leading to the Claret family's downfall was 1) how divided it was due to cultural clashes and 2) health risks (from mixing different animal biologies) when magic failed. Also 3) a few of the past family heads were literal dictators/mass murderers, and They Were Remembered more than the nicer ones (with related family lines like the Wichiens quietly burying their history to fit with their respective species).
-Occasionally when resources are running low and their usual delivery methods aren't available, a cat will actually enter Kemonotown to restock from one of the local stores owned by one of the 10% non-dog species living in the area. It's pretty uncommon, though, and the cats who do so make sure to carefully calculate their arrival at a time when most dogs won't notice.
-During PA2, most of the zombies didn't have their souls inside their bodies. Their motivations were heavily reliant on muscle memory and what was left of their biological brains.

I drew this on paper (I'm sorry for the terrible quality)
Sidenote: I headcanon regular Miguel to have Deuteranomaly. But in the spies au he's got full on Deuteranopia.
(Severe colorblindness is a big no for driving in general, so why not turn it up a notch in the spies au lol)

IMAGINE ARTIST STEVE BEING EXCITED TO SEE COLOURS FOR THE FIRST TIME!!! My guy being colourblind and just freaking out over all the pretty colours!!! The commandos and Bucky work together to get him a set of coloured pencils and a sketchbook for his birthday.
NO BECAUSE THIS IS EVERYTHING EVER
Coming out of the vita ray machine, it's the first thing that Steve notices beyond the fact that breathing doesn't hurt and his back isn't so sore anymore. And after the smoke settles from the attack directly after he received the serum, he can't stop just looking around.
According to the marvel wiki, he had red-green colorblindness, so not everything looks so different, but he does notice that the world is lighter. And for this headcanon, let's speculate that his red-green colorblindness is deuteranopia, meaning he has difficulty with greens and reds. Being able to see those colors now, he realizes just how prominent they are in every day life. Everything is so vibrant, and he can't help but stare at it all. The red lipstick perfectly glossed over Peggy's lips, the low hanging red awnings on storefronts, and the lively green of the trees that stand tall around him. He's quiet as he absorbs it all, overwhelmed and fingers twitching as he itches for a pencil. Itches to put the picture on paper-- polish the world as he sees it through his eyes.
Later, in France, Bucky catches him with his head tilted up, staring with a glint in his eyes at the ash trees above them. His fingers drum against his thigh, a sure sign he's thinking about sketching-- fingers itching. Always itching to make art.
Bucky approaches and sees Steve's ears perk, but he doesn't look away.
"I can see it all now," he murmurs, and Bucky smooths a hand across his back.
"Hm?"
"The leaves," Steve says. "They're so green." He looks at Bucky finally, reaches out to touch his lips. "I can see those, too."
Bucky lets his lips part, watching Steve as he trails his thumb across his lower lip, across his jaw and down to his shirt-- olive green.
"God... I wish I could draw this. I wish I could draw all of this. I have so much-- it's all in my head and I gotta-- I'm gonna explode, Buck."
Bucky nods, reaching up to hold Steve's hand where he's still touching him.
"I know," he says, and he does. He knows Steve like the back of his hand. Knows he has so much in his head, his heart, his soul. Not many people see it, because he's so quiet. But Bucky thinks that's fine; the world wouldn't be ready for Steve to speak everything in his mind.
And so Bucky and the Howlies do some scavenging, and some research-- word of mouth, really, but it works-- and manage to find a small art shop while on leave in Toulouse. The man working behind the counter suggests they buy the newfangled Prismacolor colored pencils. They pool their cash and manage to buy Steve a 12 pack, which they gift to him that night while out at a bar.
Steve goes quiet as he unwraps the parcel, lip caught between his teeth in a way that Bucky knows means he's trying not to let his emotions spill over.
"You guys didn't-- I--" Steve looks up at them, eyes shining. "Thank you. Just-- thank you. Thank you all so much."
He draws for hours on that leave, pulling out his pocket sketchbook whenever he can and roughing out quick sketches of trees and ladies with big, red hats and Dum Dum's bright laugh, and Bucky's challenging smirk set on perfectly toned red lips. It's like a door is opened to him, one where he can access a new plethora of his passion beyond critique and trust for others to tell him if he was using the right tone.
"Here," Steve says one night, taking a folded slip of stiff sketchbook paper and pressing it into Bucky's hand.
Bucky glances at him, amused, then unfolds the paper. Staring back at him is himself, looking handsome and lithe, lounging on a bed-- eyes glinting and skin flushed as he stares up at the viewer. He looks alive. He looks beautiful, and this, Bucky thinks, must be how Steve sees him. It's humbling and terrifying and wonderful, and Bucky wants to freefall straight into Steve's mind. Live there, under his skin.
"You can keep it," Steve says, head ducked.
He's blushing, and Bucky laughs, thinking Steve can finally see how red he gets. He reaches out to pull him in, kissing him hard on the mouth.
"Thank you," he breathes against his lips. "My lovely artist. Thank you."

another aftg headcanon i randomly thought about
I feel like Neil would have something like Deuteranopia, which is red and green colour blindness. And i think the foxes would pitch in some cash to get him those special glasses to wear.
Either that, or Neil wears reading glasses, like readers. Or he wears those blue light glasses.
I can imagine the foxes taking the colourblind test with him, and just gaping at the fact that he can’t see some of the colours the way they are.

Honestly love the headcanon of Edda being colourblind (specifically deuteranopia) because the "sanctuary"/ Green Area looks white whenever I use the colour blind simulator I have on my computer, and it looks absolutely gorgeous!
I think her favourite areas might be Blue, Yellow and Green... even though she can't see the colour green-

Martin + deuteranopia
this  headcanon explains why Martin doesn't organizes his discs. A lot of them look the same, why bother?
Also, the ocean looks so much more interesting than land. There’s so much yellow and grey, while underwater the blue tones are more predominant 🤔
