Who could also be seen as someone Björk's career influenced in the long run? One Reddit thread mentioned Faye Wong and I sort of see that. Sure, her career is on a much larger scale than that of Björk – their cultural contexts also differ immensely –, yet Mrs. Wong shares her curiosity. I mean, how many pop stars can say they worked with Wong Kar Wai on one of his movies and contribute one of the best cover songs ever to that? Actually, she does do a lot of remodels with album Decadent Sound Of Faye topping them all. You see, she did her own version of the material by Teresa Teng who remains one of the masters of Asian pop. While Mrs. Wong approaches these songs with a lot of respect – one wishes Mrs. Teng would've lived to duet with her –, she does reimagine them completely.

It's a Bittersweet Utopia
warnings: religious themes, referenced/implied suicide, injury.
notes: also on ao3. 650 word count. post-canon. jetspike.
His not-so-portable keyboard was dented and old, scratches littering every inch. Jet had told him he bought it cheap, found in the very back of a secondhand store. Spike didn’t need to be told to know that. And besides, the sentiment was sweet—he had been only half-joking when he told his partner he missed the piano.
Tapping at a few keys, Spike idly watched his own hands. They were still wrapped in bandages.
---
The pain came in waves, after the darkness. The light shone in from above, and Spike thought—What the hell? He didn’t deserve that kindness. And he never believed in gods, but the arms that carried him were strong and steady; and then they were in the air.
When he next opened his eyes, he half-expected to see his mother. He was hoping for it, at least in part. But the image of her suspended form flashed across his mind the second the figure in front of him came into focus, and he felt a bit foolish at thinking she had earned her place in heaven. Not after her ending. Even if that’s what he wanted for her.
It was Jet, peering down at him. The overhead lights cast a shadow across his face, and the light shone in from above, and Spike thought—Angel.
“...What did you say?”
Oh. He had said that aloud. He swallowed, the action bringing attention to just how dry his mouth was, and his throat caught the edges of itself. “Water,” he croaked instead.
It was the tallest glass he had ever seen before in his life, but he only managed to wet his lips—chapped—before he had to lay his head flat again.
He was laying on the couch, he knew—the position of the ceiling fan anchoring him home. And home had always felt wrong. Temporary. But as the memories came back to him, slowly, with each rotation of the gently spinning blades, Spike found that he had lost just about every other piece of home that he could ever cling on to. Julia, and Annie, and Vicious, and his mother. And Mao.
“You’re going to go live your life,” Doohan had once told him, over the rattling of a dying engine, the blazing sun beating down so hard Spike was starting to feel delirious. “It’s okay to start over, ain’t no one here telling you you can’t. Wherever your feet take you, they’ll remember where you’ve been.” And Spike had little time to ponder that statement, twenty-four and desperate to rest his feet. Blistering sand burning holes through the soles of his shoes, and blood still staining them.
“The most important thing to keep in mind is to just keep going. That chapter of your life is over now, Spike,” he said, and Spike hoped that was true; the heart in his chest decaying in the broiling heat, and the rain that had decided to keep on falling. “Flip the page and start writing your own story.”
Jet made a face then, and Spike wasn’t sure how much of that he had quoted.
He was supposed to die—he knew that for sure. Like his father. Like his mother. Tragically. Through the mess he created, he had written it himself; he was supposed to wake up. That's all he had wanted.
He thought of Faye. He thought of Ed, and he thought of Ein. There were no sounds of nails being filed, or laughter, or the pattering of paws; just the mechanical sounds of Bebop, faint clinks and the fan above, swirling. Her words echoed throughout his head, after every other turn, slowly increasing in volume until he had to squeeze his eyes shut to block it out.
It was quiet. He wondered what it would take to get that constant noise back.
Blinking heavy eyes up at his partner, he watched as the lines in his face draw together, concerned, and Spike felt himself start to smile.
“Water,” he repeated, and let Jet help him with that.
He was alive. And for the first time in nearly two decades, he was glad about it. He hoped the rest of them felt the same. He wanted to see them. He hoped he could see them. For now though, with his head in Jet’s lap, aching, the light shone in from above; and despite it all, Spike thought—I’ve never felt so warm.

FFxivWrite23 Entry #1: Envoy
Tumblr media
FFxivWrite 2023 FFxivWrite23 Masterpost Prompt #1: Envoy
“Does the name Zularti Vensar mean anything to you, m’lady?” Faye’s hands immediately went limp, dumbfounded. She forgot about the teacup she had been holding, fumbling and catching it before it completely upturned, but not without sloshing several drops of its contents onto her gloves and the pink tablecloth to stain the fabric. Had she misheard him?
“I thought it sounded familiar, but I couldn’t place it…” the Lalafell across the table continued thoughtfully, stroking his snowy white beard. Lord Raisan Arcmantle had been a friend and colleague for nearly a decade, and few could be as steadfast or capable, but perhaps his age was beginning to catch up to him. “Excuse me–I’m sorry, what?” the Midlander sputtered, unable to get any other words out. She took a moment to collect herself, quietly clearing her throat. “Why… why do you ask?” “We had a visitor here at the teahouse by that name a few days ago, and I showed him around. He said he was a member of the Harbingers of Dawn from the old days. I didn’t recognize him, but it’s been a long time, and my memory isn’t what it used to be… But he had his free company badge, and I know it as one I made by my own hand,” Raisan explained, and Faye did her best to keep up her calm veneer even as her head spun, finding little succeed in the endeavor.. “Zularti? That’s not… That’s not possible… He’s…” Her words trailed off, unable to bring herself to finish the thought, and she shook her head slowly. He couldn’t possibly be alive, could he? After all this time, all her searching, could he just show up out of the blue? It was the conclusion her heart leapt to, what she wished to be true more than anything else, but she couldn’t allow herself to entertain the idea and set herself up for such grave disappointment. So what was this, then? A cruel joke or veiled threat from someone who knew far too much? “What did this person look like?” The Lalafell continued to run his fingers along his goatee as he tried to recollect. “He was tall… but I suppose everyone is taller than me. My apologies, m’lady. I don’t remember much else that stood out. My memory is failing me.” Faye stared down at her teacup, her hands shaking. It took all her focus to be mindful of her Magitek prosthetic, to make certain she didn’t crush the porcelain beneath the metal digits. The conversation continued, but it felt so far away, the Hyur lost in her own thoughts. Raisan had given the visitor a tour and they reminisced. Raisan offered him a room to stay at the teahouse, but the man had refused. She would ask a question as casually as she could, and Raisan would offer a response that brought her no closer to the answers she truly wanted. Her dismay must have been so apparent from across the room that Drakkaern had taken notice and wandered over to her side to offer his comfort, and while some part of her was vaguely aware of his presence, she was too preoccupied to acknowledge the poor man with his hand upon her shoulder. “He did say he will return sometime. It should be easy to spot him if he does,” Raisan surmised. “We don’t get many Hrothgar around here.” Faye stared at him in disbelief.
“Hrothgar?”

Imagine, if you would, Kratos pursuing Faye.
According to supplemental material, they were friends for five years before they became a couple, and then a couple for nearly twenty years before they had Atreus.
(Canonically, Kratos straight up didn't notice Faye wasn't aging because what's a decade to a guy who's been alive for centuries?)
I have this idea of Faye being a bit nervous about becoming a couple because of the visions and prophecies. The story written out for the man she loves and the child they have is so grim, so painful, that she'd rather live out her remaining years alone, or with Kratos as a friend instead of a lover, if it meant they didn't suffer that fate.
She can't bring herself to shut it down entirely though. The vulnerability, the softness, the honest to God flirting. She loves him. He loves her.
One night they're talking around the fire. Well, she's talking. He's listening. He's surprisingly good at it, even when he's not looking directly at her as she speaks. She's explaining the Norns, and he makes a sound halfway between a snort and a growl. Her pausing and raising an eyebrow is all the encouragement he needs to go on a bit of a rant about fate, destiny, prophecy... the meaninglessness of it, the foolishness.
Faye listens intently, feeling her fears become unintentionally quelled by this man, who is in all ways but physical a giant. He speaks with such grief, such bitterness, and such stubborn determination.
She doesn't realize she's been staring until he stops.
"I have offended you," he says, abashed and amused. Faye feels a grin start to form.
"No... no. Quite the opposite."
The next day, she lets a moment shift and grow, a touch become a grip, a look become a kiss. He approaches it with the same determined attentiveness as he does everything else.
She lets herself love. And she lets herself hope.

What You Need to Know about "Sound of Freedom"
A blockbuster seems to have come out of nowhere - but it hasn't. How a based-on-a-true-story movie shelved in 2018 has become a conspiracy touchstone.
youtube
TW: discussions of child sexual abuse, hysteria, and moral panic. A good summary may be found here. The bedrock There is currently a moral panic sweeping the United States. It had been building in crescendo for a number of years and this film shows the culmination of years of work - activists and politicians and concerned citizens rallying around a simple idea: children are a risk.
However, their concern is at best misplaced and at worst being used against them. It's not entirely wrong to be concerned about sexual abuse and the exploration of children. The numbers passed around appear terrifying. The English-speaking world has seen the growth of grassroots organizations like the UK's "pedo hunters" and the (popular in the 80s) Faye Yeager's Children's Underground. What are the numbers?
The film has grossed $40 million at the box office.
A report from the Counter-Trafficking Data Collaborative states that 67 percent of children trafficked are between the ages of 15 and 17 - while the film proposes that idea those trafficked are usually much younger. The 2020 Global Report on Trafficking in Persons shows that 50 per cent of detected victims in 2018 were trafficked for sexual exploitation, 38 per cent were exploited for forced labour, six per cent were subjected to forced criminal activity, while one per cent were coerced into begging and smaller numbers into forced marriages, organ removal, and other purposes. The detected forms of exploitation vary widely across different subregions. The share of detected victims trafficked for forced labour has steadily increased for more than a decade; most of these are boys.
The U.S. State Department has reported that traffickers transport 600,000 to 800,000 people across international borders each year, and less 50 percent of these victims are minors. Child trafficking victims often know and trust their traffickers, according to Teresa Huizar, CEO of the National Children's Alliance. Some victims are throwaway kids who are forced to trade sex for food and shelter, often with the trafficker calling themselves their boyfriend or girlfriend. Research shows that many child trafficking victims are LGBTQ or gender nonconforming youth who have been forced into the sex trade by someone close to them. The movie suggests that abductions occur more frequently in public places such as parking lots and playgrounds, and that young children are at a greater risk from strangers then people they know.
What is OUR? Operation Underground Railroad (OUR), founded in Utah in 2013, gained popularity on social media due to its focus on rescuing innocent children. It has gained attention from parenting groups, lifestyle influencers, and fitness enthusiasts due to its muscular approach. OUR says on its website and social media it has rescued and supported “thousands of survivors in 28 countries and 26 U.S. states,” including 3,000 around the world in 2019 alone. The charity’s annual report said it took in more than $21 million in donations for that year. They popularised raids of supposed trafficking by filming them and inviting journalists, influencers, and even Glenn Beck. What does a raid look like? Well, in 2014 a writer joined OUR on one of their raids. Here is an except:
Ballard and I are both Mormon... My dad, who loved my work, kept a few cards with my blog information in his wallet. [This is] how Ballard knew I was a writer.
When Ballard called, I didn’t ask many questions. I didn’t wonder why he thought it was appropriate for me—the writer of a mommy blog—to chronicle anti-trafficking work. At the time, I was a 28-year-old stay-at-home mother in Utah. I was lonely and grieving: My dad, my best friend, had died not long before. As I changed diapers, managed tantrums, and sat in the playground, I felt unmoored from my past and unsure about my future. I suppose, in my grief and my search for meaning, I wanted him to be called by God, because maybe that meant finally, I was too. ...
I was told Ballard’s team coordinated with local authorities who were too overwhelmed or ill-equipped to do this work on their own. Members of the OUR jump team found people willing to traffic kids and set up a date to “party” with however many kids they could provide, the more the better. The authorities were told where and when the party was happening. When they arrived, the girls would be sent outside, where I would be with them, while Ballard and the traffickers would stay inside. The police planned to wait outside until the OUR team had undercover footage of a trafficker accepting upfront cash for sex with the kids. After the cash changed hands, Ballard would give a signal, and the authorities would rush the house to make arrests. They would be armed.
The issue - expect note that OUR creates a demand for child sexual abuse victims where care is not provided and entrapment is common. In 2015 a tech-investor paid to fund a raid and streamed it live. Who is the man behind this? His name is Tim Ballard. As Operation Underground Railroad’s founder and president he sees this as his Godly mission to save the children.
What happens to the children? Most of the children trafficked in OUR stings are first-time; meaning that OUR may create the demand for a crime it seeks to stamp out. OUR also promotes, there is little evidence of placement, a private adoption agency OUR also claims to run. Additionally, none of these children were kidnapped by strangers on the raid the writer attended - they were trafficked by family members or people they knew. What does trafficking really look like?
Young women between 15 and 18 are often lured by a man who promises romance but forces them to do sex work due to his control over their immigration status, legal documents, and threats of harming their family.
"In the U.S., immigrant women and children are particularly vulnerable to the deceptive and coercive tactics of traffickers," the ACLU has written, "because of their lower levels of education, inability to speak English, immigration status, and lack of familiarity with U.S. employment protections. Further, they are vulnerable because they often work in jobs that are hidden from the public view and unregulated by the government."
What is the "true story"? Well, in a word, it's not true at all.
The film's website acknowledged altering Ballard's biography and “took creative liberties in depicting the different methods of child trafficking.” The film's central plot point, that of a brother and sister lured to a photo shoot in Honduras, is not an event that Ballard has claimed actually happened. Ballard stated that "Some things are definitely overreported". He did not go into the jungle by himself to rescue a little girl nor did he kill a man to rescue the child. Operation Triple Take, an island rescue, saved both minors and adults from labor trafficking, with the film portraying victims as children. Ballard's team claimed to have rescued 123 individuals at two locations. Operation Triple Take accounted for 53 individuals.
How are people seeing for free? At the end of the film, there is a call to action. A QR code appears and promotes viewers to "pay it forward" pre-buying tickets so that others may see the vital message of the film for free.
You can buy bulk tickets at 50% off and encourage pay it forward - millions of tickets are bought without attending, pushing it up the Boxoffice.
Why was this film shelved in 2019? While online rumours say 2019 - the film was completed in 2018. It was shelved because it was produced by 20th Century Fox, which then was bought by Disney; when this occurred the project was shelved. Then the release was delayed by the pandemic.
Why does your mom/dad/grandparent/uncle know about this movie and not you?
It is being heavily marketed on Facebook and tictok by age, religious and political affiliation, and region. The key points are Christian, rural, and older - the average age of the viewer is above fifty and appears to be common among white, Black, and minority Christan groups.
Why is Ballad not CEO anymore?
After an internal investigation OUR Ballad stepped down in 2023. Aletter claims that an OUR employee who accompanied Ballard on an undercover operation abroad filed a complaint against him with OUR’s human resources department after the trip, and that a followup investigation culminated in his resignation.
The Producers Eduardo Verastegui, a Mexican soap opera actor and Catholic activist, has expressed interest in running for Mexico's 2024 presidential election. Support from deep right groups and Spanish deep and alt-right groups, including Vox, is viewed as an infiltration attempt by radical right-wing groups. Verastegui's hardcore homophobia and links to pedophilia have been criticized.
He is using the film to run a complex, multi-state presidential campaign over the summer. Jim Caviezel, as seen here, discusses the Sound of Freedom, transitioning from that to rescuing children from underground bunkers (DUMS) run by the elites, how the elites extract and consume adrenaline from terrorized children, and how these elites are in the entertainment industry and how "there will be no mercy for them."

Rated/warning: T, heavy angst Word count: 520
Author's Note: My contribution to a spontaneous writing sprint among my fellow Bridgerton fic authors. Inspired by @bridgertontess beautiful edit above, we all set out to explain what poor Ben was doing out in the rain. 💙 I almost didn't post mine because, true to form, i reverted to my deeply angsty inclinations and came up with something horrible. Posting this in the middle of the night so maybe no one reads it - I apologize in advance.
The results from my fellow writers were incredibly diverse, amazing, and sometimes hilarious! What a talented bunch - read all of them! Could Be Worse - @fayes-fics Turning - @queen-of-the-misfit-toys contribution from @thebabblingbrookenook The Deluge - @colettebronte Weather the Storm - @silverhallow

The world had been muted entirely. The clouds were doing their part to blur everything into a wash of greys, draining color out of Benedict’s vision the same way his grief was draining away all sounds. This was life now without her: quieter, colder, devoid of spirit. He had to step outside to try and catch his breath, because it felt like his heart had been bifurcated, half of him withered and atrophied. How could he face this without her and the levity she would no doubt have offered? As soon as his feet hit the pavement he nearly rang her number to tell her what had happened. A reflex he knew was bound to haunt him for years to come.
The rain was torrential, oddly so for the season. Others may not have held with the spiritual significance he saw in certain moments, but he knew this was one of them. The same way his soul alerted him to impending grief or joy, he felt the numbing certainty that the rain was not pelting him by coincidence. It was a message, more likely intended as a slap in the face to pull himself together rather than as mournful tears. That was her way. Or maybe she was calling him back to memories: the nights when they had snuck outside to escape boring parties, then been forced back indoors soaked and giggling, or the time she had appeared unannounced at his front door with his favorite Jaffa Cakes when he coincidentally was sick in bed with a cold. She had driven through a storm on a whim just to see him. It was like she knew somehow. She always did. He wished she had waited a little longer. Spent another decade with him at least, before making her grand exit.
He had felt her go, had heard the roaring in his ears and knew what it signified. Half of everyone he called didn’t answer, including her, so he hadn’t known. He was paralyzed with anxiety for an hour until the phone finally rang. Another goodbye he would never get to say. She was already gone. In just her fashion too - dramatic. Something everyone would talk about for generations. She would have loved the attention. If he were being honest with himself, he had to accept how fitting it was. A quiet, slow decline would have been anticlimactic for her. No, the spectacle and its irony were better. What was a better story than a stepmother drowning to save her child? A woman who adamantly rejected the idea of motherhood, sacrificing herself in the ultimate act of maternal love?
He remembered how she told him that Phillip preferred rain to sunny days. Marina had passed under clear skies. Now Benedict didn’t know what his brother-in-law was going to do, weighted by tragedy and daily reminders of his losses no matter what the weather. He was honor-bound to help him find a way, him and the twins who sat huddled inside the hospital behind him. Together they would all have to carve out some new, duller way to carry on without their beloved Eloise.

a teaser
I will be posting this to ao3 at some point when my ducks are more corralled but for now enjoy the beginning of my Natasia/Faye fic. Feedback welcome!
Planning to tell the story in flashbacks with nineties jams for each chapter/flashback. Should be fun I hope!
May 12, 2020
The mint green walls of the room waver as the woman’s eyes close and open in a blink slower than is natural, even for a human. Which she isn’t.
The emotions rocketing through her are beyond overwhelming, even though she’s had plenty of time to anticipate this day. She closes her eyes and focuses on the sounds: a clock ticking slightly off-tempo on the wall, carts rolling down the hallway and beeps from the nurses station down the corridor, phone rings and static, and under everything, the sounds of all the human bodies in this wing of the hospital, from the healthy to the very ill. The focus required to mesmer the man scratching his pen against the clip-boarded paperwork outside the room is negligible, really, but what will be needed to cast the necessary illusion onto the teenage girl sitting next to him bumps up against the pain coursing through Natasia’s body so hard, she doubles over, wrapping her arms around her middle in a feeble imitation of the enveloping embrace she had received from the girl’s mother just a few days ago, when she had been gloriously and beautifully alive.
Natasia’s head swims, even though it’s already between her knees. She feels her ribs expand under her fingertips as she breathes in and holds it. She stands, opens her eyes, and lets out the breath as her arms fall to her sides. The small hairs at her temple and fringe float as she calls aether into her body in preparation for what she's about to do. No need to think about the Welsh words fluidly pouring out her mouth, they're as much a part of her as her own heart. She walks to the door to usher the girl and her father into the small green room with her. This was her first and only job. She can do this.
She knew it would hurt to look at Briana, so she doesn’t, until the very end. She looks so much like Faye– both the Faye who died two hours ago and the Faye she had met twenty five years ago– that it’s like staring into the sun. What happens next is impulsive, and she does it before she has time to talk herself out of it. Remembering the time a decade ago when she folded Faye’s goodbye message into the girl’s mind “just in case,” she feels a fresh wave of tears course down her face, ignores them, and speaks, bright golden eyes locked to deep brown ones:
“You won’t remember this,
but I want you to know
that she was my friend.”

2024 Academy Award Best Picture Nominees Guide For Those Who Haven’t Actually Watched Them
In a year when the names of pretty much every movie are combinations of random, non-descript words, and with a lineup of films that few people did actually watch or even legitimately know what they’re about (except Barbenheimer) - the Academy really tested the flimsy premise of this now decade-old bit.
But tis the season! So sing along with me! My awards have a first name, it’s O-S-C-A-R!
My awards have a second name, it’s C-O-R-P-O-R-A-T-E-H-O-L-L-Y-W-O-O-D-W-I-L-L-S-O-O-N-B-R-E-A-K-I-T-S-P-R-O-M-I-S-E-T-O-T-H-E-U-N-I-O-N-S-A-N-D-C-R-E-A-T-E-A-L-L-O-F-T-H-E-S-E-M-O-V-I-E-S-W-I-T-H-A-I-I-N-T-H-E-F-U-T-U-R-E!
So, let’s dive in for this 10th rundown of the Best Picture nominees!
Tumblr media
American Fiction
What Florida Governor Ron DeSantis calls critical race theory.
3 Things To Casually Inject Into Conversation To Prove You Saw The Movie And Sound Like An Expert:
German Fiction is what those who planned to vote for DeSantis call Zone of Interest.
If this wins, Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty will announce it as La La Land.
Tracee Ellis Ross plays the role of Dr. Lisa Ellison. Other original names for characters were Myra Lucretia Taylor as Dr. Mary Lucretiason, Michael Cyril Creighton as Dr. Thomas Cyrilson and Sterling K. Brown as Dr. William K.-son.
Anatomy of a Fall
About 6-foot-2 and roughly 200 pounds at the time that he slapped Chris Rock at this awards show in 2022.
3 Things To Casually Inject Into Conversation To Prove You Saw The Movie And Sound Like An Expert:
You know what they call a Quarter Pounder with Cheese in Paris? They call it Anatomie D'Une Cheese.
I thought it was a bit lazy that in order to play the half-blind son, director Justine Triet just put an eye-patch on Milo Machado-Graner and exclaimed, “Mon Dieu! Ze garçon is now half blind. Voir!
Eric Clapton’s least favorite Best Picture nominee.
Barbie
A sharp and immensely profitable attack upon the patriarchy and a film that became a rallying cry for female empowerment in Hollywood that garnered no Best Director or Best Actress nominations but nabbed a nom for penis-owning actor Ryan Gosling.
3 Things To Casually Inject Into Conversation To Prove You Saw The Movie And Sound Like An Expert:
Hi Barbie!
One day during childhood, I agreed to play Barbies with my two sisters and my brother. But we played Saved By The Bell with Ken as Zack Morris, an Aladdin doll as A.C. Slater and various Barbies as Kelly, Jessie and Lisa. It was civil until I got bored and used another Ken doll to be Screech and all of a sudden gave him the power (ironically…Screech's last name was Powers) to fly and then pretended he was flying over the Dream House and farting and pooping down (also ironically in light of Dustin Diamond’s later activities) on everyone causing my sisters to scream at me while I cackled with laughter. Not really a joke. Just a real crystalized childhood memory that I'm sadly still kind of proud of and also still think is very funny.
Next year, the Polly Pocket movie will be a tremendous hit, break down traditional gender norms, and Austin Butler will be the only one nominated for an Oscar for playing Paul E. Pocket.
The Holdovers
A story about a group that has nowhere to go after they are abandoned in New England…the 2020 Patriots.
3 Things To Casually Inject Into Conversation To Prove You Saw The Movie And Sound Like An Expert:
The lead role called for a “stubborn, curmudgeonly” character and Paul Giamatti just materialized on set.
To achieve Giamatti’s character Paul Hunham’s trademark lazy eye, Alexander Payne enlisted the help of Anatomy of a Fall director Justine Triet who came on set and addressed Giamatti’s right eye, saying, “Bonjour, eye! Do some work, s'il vous plaît. (Pauses for a beat.) Sacre bleu! Ze eye refuses to work. Zis is a lazy eye!”
This is the first collaboration between director Alexander Payne and actor Paul Giamatti since Sideways which now makes sense since there are various points in the film where a character, with absolutely no context or prompting, sips a glass of merlot and spits it on the ground screaming, “Merlot is the worst liquid in the universe!” But it was a bit much when the last scene of the movie was Paul Giamatti looking directly into the camera and saying, “Fuck you, merlot,” before the credits rolled.
Killers of the Flower Moon
Ernest in the Army. Ernest Scared Stupid. Ernest Goes to Jail.
3 Things To Casually Inject Into Conversation To Prove You Saw The Movie And Sound Like An Expert:
Leonardo DiCaprio initially turned down the role when he learned that his romantic interest in the film, Mollie Kyle, was 137 years old, saying, "Maybe without the 7!"
IMDB lists this movie’s runtime in years.
Scorsese rejected composer Robbie Robertson’s first score for the film that included “‘Up on Cripple Creek…Is Where They Found Anna’s Body’”, “I Shall Be Released…Is What King Hale Tells Ernest While In Jail”, “The Weight…Of His Transgressions Caused Ernest to Testify Against His Uncle” and “Ophelia…Is Probably The Name of One of The Background Osage Women Characters, Oh Come On Marty, Just Put It In The Credits, People Love This Song”
Maestro
Seasoned musician Leonard Bernstein (Bradley Cooper) discovers-and falls in love with-struggling actress Felicia Montealegre (Carey Mulligaga). She has just about given up on her dream to make it big as an actress - until Leonard coaxes her into the spotlight. But even as Felicia’s career takes off, the personal side of their relationship is breaking down, as Leonard fights an ongoing battle with his own internal demons. Then, he pisses his pants at the Grammys.
3 Things To Casually Inject Into Conversation To Prove You Saw The Movie And Sound Like An Expert:
Early critical reviews of the trailer focused on the “Anatomy of a Face”.
Just like in “A Star Is Born”, Bradley Cooper took vocal lessons to actually perform Leonard Bernstein's classic “Hallelujah”. (What’s that? There are two Jewish Leonards?)
Cooper spent nearly 45% of the film’s budget on that epic final battle scene between Bernstein and Lydia Tár.
Oppenheimer
Julius Robert Oppenheimer Schmidt! That's my name too! Whenever I got out, the people always shout, “There goes Julius Robert Oppenheimer Schmidt!” Na-na na-na na-na-na!
3 Things To Casually Inject Into Conversation To Prove You Saw The Movie And Sound Like An Expert:
In an alternate scene, it's revealed that the exchange between Oppenheimer and Edison by the pond that caused Albert to react so sadly when walking past Robert Downey Jr. is that Oppenheimer tried to sneak a fart but then said, “Oh no. I just Oppensharted.”
Nolan took some liberties with the true story. In reality, the U.S. killed between 110,000 and 210,000 Japanese citizens…with kindness.
Since ABC does not include the Academy’s Scientific and Technical Awards during the broadcast, we will not see Cillian Murphy’s acceptance speech for Best Seated Mangina.
Past Lives
This film follows the stories of the characters’ souls across time, and the stories are interwoven as they advance, showing how they all interact in their “past lives”. The film explores how people's “past lives” are connected with and influence each other and…wait a second. Nope. That’s Cloud Atlas. (Do not watch Cloud Atlas.)
3 Things To Casually Inject Into Conversation To Prove You Saw The Movie And Sound Like An Expert:
Due to scheduling conflicts with Poor Things, Emma Stone was unable to play the female Asian lead this time.
However, in the North Korean version of the film, Kim Jong Un played the role. And all the other roles. And won all of the Oscars. Ever.
This movie is a prequel to the movie Lives.
Poor Things
From Pixar comes the story of little Sally Sangiovese, a newly bottled red Italian wine who is separated from her Sangio-family and sent to the wine cellar. There, she’ll befriend Nelson Nebbiolo, a wizened red from the Piedmont region who is coming up on 30 years in the cellar but still hasn’t gotten over the loss of his Spanish love, Tia Tempranillo, who was pulled from the cellar for a quinceañera dinner the year prior. Together, the two will hatch a plan to release themselves from the cellar to reunite Sally with her family and Nelson con su amor. Along their adventurous aging process, audiences will discover that even when the bottle appears half-empty, you simply decant dampen the spirit of these…Pour Things!
3 Things To Casually Inject Into Conversation To Prove You Saw The Movie And Sound Like An Expert:
Max McCandles was actually the original name of Lumière from Beauty and the Beast.
Unfortunately this story of a British woman receiving a brain transplant isn’t about J.K. Rowling.
This is the first movie written by new AI trained only on Dr. Seuss books, Kanye West’s Twitter feed and the dreams of Gary Busey.
The Zone of Interest
Rudolf the conflicted Nazi! Had a garden full of rows! Of plants his wife liked to tend to! Horrifically juxtaposed! Then one sunny German day, Hitler came to say, “Rudolf of the triple Reich, won't you Holocaust tonight!” Then, how he wrestled with morality! As he puked and thought, “Why me?!” Rudolf the conflicted Nazi! This one’s really hard for comedy!
3 Things To Casually Inject Into Conversation To Prove You Saw The Movie And Sound Like An Expert…All Word-for-Word What Was Generated by ChatGPT:
The popularity of the film has already led to a sequel, Höss Party 2.
Probably also the title of one of the Mission Impossible movies.
I actually did watch every other movie nominated for Best Picture this year, but The Zone of Interest is the only one I did Nazi!
