We went up to Surrey today, to Brooklands, a motoring and aviation museum on the site of Britain’s first purpose-built motor racing track, which opened in 1907 and was in use until 1939. While I am not even remotely interested in planes, Dad and sis are and as I don’t mind looking at old cars I had no objection to visiting. In fact, there was one particular reason I was happy to go…
If you’ve watched The Petrol Age you will have seen Brooklands as it’s featured a fair bit in the first episode. It’s an interesting place anyway, but had the added attraction for me of being able to pick out locations and vehicles used. For instance, there was the aeroplane-engined Napier-Railton that Paul wasn’t allowed to drive:

And there’s the hill climb, which is very steep!
Unlike the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu, which we’ve been to many times, it’s mainly racing cars at Brooklands, which is understandable, but there’s still plenty to see and we were there a good few hours. Dad and sis were chuffed to be able to sit in the pilot’s seat of a Hawker Harrier jet, and we climbed through a replica of the fuselage of a Wellington Bomber, where it proved useful to be small! Comes in handy sometimes. Not often, it’s true, but sometimes. 😆

It was definitely worth a visit, and nice to go somewhere we’d not been before as we tend to return to old favourites quite a lot. Pop in if you’re ever in the area!

Todays adventure out. First time seeing my friend in 6/7 months! So had a wander around the monkey forest and then went for food and had this ridiculous sized pudding which I couldn’t finish! And then I had another wander through the fields and woodland by me. It’s been what I needed after a tough time mentally.

Episode 2 of 11 of The Siege of Colchester - Siege Diaries. Starring me!
To mark the 375th anniversary of the Siege of Colchester, Colchester Museum (Colchester Castle) put together a series of videos; the fictional account of a Royalist soldier caught up in the siege, called 'Siege Diaries'.
Also marking the 375th anniversary will be the Siege of Colchester, reenacted by The English Civil War Society in Castle Park, Colchester on the 19th & 20th August 2023, an event that is completely free for the public to watch, comprising of an extensive Living History display, live firing musket volleys, cannons firing, pike fighting, potentially cavalry charges, and more!

Tumbleweed needs everyone to know that I am his most cruel and heartless mother for decreasing the amount of food he gets due to him gaining a third again his body weight over the last year no that is not all fur Tumbleweed you are shaped like a pregnant sheep!
He has spent much of the day stomping from room to room while yelling his immense displeasure.

A report just came out from a Palestinian hostage saying he was strapped with bombs and sent into a Hamas tunnel, with Israel prepared to blow the tunnel up with his body if fighters were found inside and yet people are still making the “Hamas uses human shields” arguments that have been confirmed to be a myth with no supporting evidence
#the hostage also said the same thing happened to a 15 year old boy hostage#both of them did survive as they were pulled out of the tunnel when no fighters were found and then released a few days later#the amount of people (including the US president) who still talk about the Hamas human shields is alarming#since no one has evidence of it and we have more then one piece of evidence of Israel using human shields#palestine#🦢
