I LOVE that the Netflix adaptation of Heartstopper is being used to further explore topics that the comics hinted at. One such example is Darcy’s home life and all of the kids’ families in general.
A crucial part of queer teen relationships is knowing how to navigate and work around each other’s parents, who has the safest house for hanging out, how closeted to act around different people’s moms or dads, etc… Queer teens often have to work together to keep each other safe, and I’m glad that’s being portrayed in the show.
i love how heartstopper, especially season 2, handles coming out so well. nick doesn't come out just once and he approaches different coming outs differently. coming out also isn't the sole focus of the show, there's characters who came out ages ago, were outed, may never come out to certain people and aren't even quite out to themselves. there's so many different experiences of queerness represented aand they're all shown as equally valid. queerness and coming out aren't represented as a monolith.
I know everyone is very happy about the trailer, so I am, but I want to know what's going on in this scene. Why does tara looks worried!!! Don't hurt my baby
Charlie: I currently have 7 empty notebooks and I have no clue what to put in them. Suggestions?
Darcy: Put spaghetti in it.
Charlie: I'm currently taking suggestions from literally anyone but you.
Tara: Put spaghetti in it.
Charlie: I'm currently taking suggestions from anyone but you two.
Nick: Put spaghetti in it.
Charlie: I'm no longer taking suggestions.
