Our first event in almost 2 years! 🥰 we stayed away from everyone & avoided anywhere that had a crowd, so it felt very safe (along with it all being outdoors - although I did wear a mask if we did have to pass by anyone!) 😷 It was such a fun weekend, lots of racing, on the Sunday we even got to see the legendary @96f1champ do a couple of laps! We wanted to go check out his car in the pits but it was rammed & we didnt want to risk that (Damon himself didnt stop he just left) but we did get to see a few other cars in the pits after his car left & everyone cleared out which was fun! 🚖🚘 We watched racing pretty much all day Saturday, and then got to see the gorgeous glow light air balloons, which we watched from the opposite side of the field where noone was (and tbh i think we had a better view than the crowd on the other side!) & got to hear a bit of the music, but to be honest it wasn't for us 😅 so we grabbed some food (a GIANT roast dinner haha) & left. 🍝 Then on Sunday we watched a bit of racing & then had a wander around looking at the cars on show, & a lovely lady (we think from @Motul) stopped us & gave us a bunch of free food vouchers! 😅 so we got some mini spring rolls, mozarella sticks, a nutella crepe, a Ben & Jerry's Half Baked Milkshake & a "mystery" blue fanta (which was gross 😂) we were stuffed 😅 (and forgot to take pics of any of it!) 😋🥞 We then had another look around & found some Deloreans which I was VERY excited about 😄 and then watched the last race before the end. Back in the day I wrote a proposal for Labatt's it's CEO Sid Oland why we should be in Formula 1 and so we went full-on with sponsorship. My most enjoyable moment was being picked up in Milan by Gilles Villeneuve in a Ferrari with heavy rain as he drove me to Imola where I would meet Mr. Enzo Ferrari. Gilles also had Labatt's sponsorship. ON THIS DAY: In 1994, the Formula 1 season concluded at Adelaide with the Australian GP, an event that turned out to be an extremely controversial one. The race itself was won by Nigel Mansell of Williams, with Gehard Berger finishing in 2nd place and Martin Brundle ending the day in 3rd. Despite this turning out to be Mansell's final ever F1 race victory, much of the post-race attention was on Michael Schumacher and Damon Hill we a result of their exploits from earlier in the race. - Mansell had started on pole position for Williams, but instantly found himself overtaken by team-mate Hill and Schumacher, who took the lead. Schumacher then began stretching out his lead and remained at the front until Lap 36. At this point, 'Schumi' went off at East Terrace corner, hitting the wall and severely damaging his Benetton car. This brought Hill right up alongside the German driver but, as he went to make the pass, Schumacher turned in on him. The contact between the pair (shown top picture) eliminated Schumacher from the race on the spot. - Damon Hill attempted to continue in his Williams, but pitted and was also forced into retiring from the race as he'd sustained a broken suspension. The incident meant that Schumacher became World Drivers' Champion, for the first time. Despite claims from Schumacher that the incident was accidental, many F1 insiders and fans alike still feel that Schumacher hit Hill deliberately to procure the 1994 title. - As previously mentioned, the race marked Nigel Mansell's 31st and final ever F1 race victory. Also, on this day, the Lotus name was seen in F1 for the final time until 2010.
