My Snarky Snippets Bucket Overflows
You probably expect me to comment on the Iowa caucuses last night, but you’re in for a surprise.  The only thing I have to say is that there was no surprise, and that the Iowa caucuses are the least democratic of the entire election process.  If you are disabled, have health problems, don’t drive, work nights, or cannot find a babysitter, then you don’t get a vote.  No ballot boxes, no online or…

PnF Revival Episode Title Predictions PART 1
The new episode titles just came out, so I'm gonna start making predictions about the new batch (some more outlandish than others just to get more of a laugh if they turn out to be true). I'll come back later after watching the episodes to see how I did.
Summer Block Buster - Something about making a movie, probably. I got nothin.
Cloudy with a Chance of Mom - This one sounds interesting. Possibly a Meatballs reference? Some sort of mom storm? Moms falling from the sky? Might be figurative for a mom getting angry? Perhaps a mom who is also a meteorologist? Badass mom thing. Let's go with that.
Appetite for Adventure - This brings back Remains of the Platypus memories (the cheese thing with Monogram). This has to be a joke about figurative versus literal appetites. Eating contest again, perhaps?
License to Bust - Candace gets her driver's license? Candace gets some sort of license. Or someone gets a license. Candace gets a license to kill, I dunno.
Dry Another Day - Drying. Dry ANOTHER DAY? Rainy day?? So it'll be dry? Another day???? Somebody goes to the dry cleaners? Phineas and Ferb start a dry cleaning business? Clothesline ziplines???
Deconstructing Doof - Either exploring his character more in depth, or literally deconstructing him somehow. At the molecular level, perhaps.
Tropey McTropeface - Everybody turns into an anime trope except for one person who's just watching it all go down, confused as hell. Either that or it's just a really corny plot.
Biblio-Blast! - Baljeet gets book-themed superpowers. Or somebody studies a lot.
A Chip to the Vet - Squirrels go to the vet. Perhaps Perry goes to the vet and has to hide his beeping watch and stuff the whole time. Maybe an animal has a chipped tooth.
More Than an Intern - Carl's epic story. Like Delivery of Destiny, but with Carl. Carl gets a weird musical number to go along with it, perhaps?
The Aurora Perry-Alis - Perry has a mission to help Santa in the North Pole and basically becomes an elf for a day. And/or Phineas and Ferb recreate the Aurora Borealis and make it go into all kinds of different shapes in the sky somehow, like you could draw an image of Perry with the northern lights.
Lord of the Firesides - Like in Lord of the Flies, the Fireside girls get stranded on a deserted island. Perhaps a Fireside-focused episode like Bee Story and Temple of Sap?
Agent T (For Teen) - Stacy helps out with OWCA somehow AND/OR day-in-the-life of Vanessa at her internship.
The Haberdasher - A Haberdasher is a "dealer in men's clothing" according to Google. We already had a fashion episode in season 1, though... Maybe we get more of the fashion designer from that episode? Or, for a crazier idea: The Haberdasher turns out to be some kind of Drusselstinian urban legend, like the Kinderlumper. The Kinderlumper episode was called "Der Kinderlumper", with "der" replacing "the", so maybe The Haberdasher is like the Kinderlumper's anglicized alter ego. Maybe the Haberdasher doesn't have anything to do with fashion at all!
Out of Character - Either everyone's personalities flip, everyone's personalities flip except for Candace's, someone's personality is explored on a deeper level and it has nothing to do with personality flips, or it has something to do with the second dimension.
Favorite episode prediction: Out of Character
Phinabella counter prediction: 13
Song/jingle counter prediction (not counting D.E.I.): 10
Laugh-out-loud counter prediction: 8
Let's see how this goes!! I'm excited!!!

I have been very critical at the way that media has helped legitimize what essentially is a propaganda campaign. We need to call that what it is.
We know the actors. The actors are very explicit. They don't camouflage what they're doing.
In fact, one of the biggest actors, of course, Chris Rufo, regularly goes on Twitter and says, this is what we're going to do. He said he was going to turn critical race theory into a term that made white Americans think about indoctrination, their white children being treated as the oppressor. I mean, he lays it out, and then he lays out his strategy, which is we keep pushing this until we get some mainstream media to pick it up, and then the rest of mainstream media feels that they have to now pick it up or it will look like they're being biased.
So these folks have studied, I think, really the flaws in media and have exploited it. So what happens is this desire to be ‘balanced’ then actually means we obfuscate the truth.
The first thing we should have done as journalists is said, okay, show me in a classroom where this is happening.
Provide evidence that this is happening.
Let's define what Critical Race Theory is, and what it isn't.
And instead, we allowed bad faith actors to really define the terms in a way that I think has been very harmful because that's how propaganda works.
Attempted bans were against 1619 specifically. Then they came back with critical race theory. Now, of course, they're coming back with DEI and we just keep making kind of those same mistakes again and again.
I also just want to add that when we think about something like critical race theory, when we think about what should and shouldn't be taught in the classroom, part of what we did as a failure media is to ask what is the role of an education? And is it wrong to teach a theory? Is it wrong to teach things that every parent wouldn't agree with?
I mean, that is actually the role of an education.

Dumbest Thing I've Ever Heard: 7/28/2023
Fifth Place: Elon Musk
It seems like every day Elon has done something worthy of getting a spot on this list. Just today, Media Matters published an article with the headline "Elon Musk reinstated a Twitter account that shared child sexual abuse imagery as the company desperately attempts to attract advertisers." You see, Musk decided to reinstate the account of a right-wing conspiracy theorist named Dom Lucre, who was suspended for posting images of child sexual abuse?
Musk has previously promised to take a zero tolerance policy against those who post the abuse of children on his platform--unless you have the right political views, that is.
Fourth Place: Josh Hawley
"Josh Hawley’s Immediate Reaction to New Charges Against Trump? Demanding Biden ‘Tell Us Whether or Not He’s a Crook’" ran a headline on the website Mediaite today. Even ignoring the blatant changing of the topic by Senator Hawley from Trump to Biden, it's not as if Hawley would believe Biden if he were to declare he isn't a crook. Richard Nixon did exactly that in 1973, and the majority of people who thought he was a crook before that speech still thought he was one after--in fact, the amount of people who had a negative opinion of him actually increased after he declared he wasn't the thing he was being accused of.
Third Place: Marjorie Taylor Greene
Congressman Robert Garcia correctly pointed out the issue with her call for decorum during a hearing yesterday by simply tweeting "Marjorie needs to remember she showed us a dick pic last week." A naked picture of the son of the President, to be exact, which she was using to make some point that was not understood by anybody except her and her insane supporters.
Let's not forget that this is the same woman who has called the entire Democratic Party pro-grooming. This is the same woman who has shared Q-Anon posts accusing powerful people of being pedophiles with no evidence and the woman who said that Nancy Pelosi should be hanged for treason. The notion that this woman has any right to talk about either decorum or decency is utterly laughable at best and insulting to the intelligence of the American people at worst.
Second Place: Mike Huckabee
Speaking on Fox and Friends today, Huckabee defended Trump by saying:
People look at this and they say, wait a minute, let me see if I get this right. You do a raid on his home over some pieces of paper.
Well--yeah, if those pieces of paper are top secret documents the person who has them kept refusing to return to the point where that's your only option, that actually sounds like a pretty smart idea. What are you expecting them to do, just forget about the documents because actually attempting to retrieve them might look silly if you boil them down to such a simplistic degree?
Winner: Christopher Rufo
This man somehow got an article in the New York Times yesterday with the headline "D.E.I. Programs are Getting in the Way of Liberal Education." In it, Rufo makes this terribly moronic statement:
The most significant question looming over this debate is one that, unfortunately, has rarely been posed by either critics or supporters of D.E.I. programs: What is the purpose of a university? For most of the classical liberal tradition, the purpose of the university was to produce scholarship in pursuit of the true, the good and the beautiful. The university was conceived as a home for a community of scholars who pursued a variety of disciplines, but were united in a shared commitment to inquiry, research and debate, all directed toward the pursuit of the highest good, rather than the immediate interests of partisan politics. Today, many universities have consciously or unconsciously abandoned that mission and replaced it with the pursuit of diversity, equity and inclusion. Many D.E.I. programs seem to be predicated on a view radically different from the liberal tradition: namely, that the university is not merely a home for the discovery of knowledge, but also a vehicle for activism, liberation and social change.
This is a false dichotomy if I have ever heard one: Hey Chris, what do you think scholars are supposed to do with the truth? Use them to figure out if society needs to be changed and in what way, and be willing to take active part in that process. This is why so many academics end up as aides to major politicians or as commentators, because the entire point of having the truth is to spread it around as much as possible--a truth not worth spreading is not worth knowing.
Christopher Rufo, you've said the dumbest thing I've ever heard.
