betcha cant identify every character here lol (i feel any avid BT fan could name 31/32 of them, bcus that 32nd one is a curveball whose only been important in like... 1/101 chapters. and prob only mentioned in.... 5/101?)

also everyone hates Grasswhisker and its... kinda sad. like, hello, she’s a victim... yeah she’s been really mean, but truly it’s been out of fear and desperation for Thistlestar to love her and only her just like she loveslovesloves him (why can’t he just love her? why isnt she good enough? her mind cries). like Airleap was the only one who was like “Hey wait a minute-” (and now everyone hates her bcus she was mean to Airleap... by blaming him for murder)

windclan it is! here are two main characters of the au:

the brown one's prefix is cricket, and the white one's prefix is sorrel

and they don't have suffixes yet, so that's what the poll is for!

Are Cricketkit and Featherkit still alive in your Running AU? And if not what would there warrior names have been do you think?

I'd like to think they both are and the two are roughly about as old as Darkstripe [maybe a couple moons older]

Cricket lives in ShadowClan and Feather lives in ThunderClan but has a tendency to wander cause he doesn't sit still for long periods of time, which is something no one can really stop him from doing but some warriors do question his loyalty because of it [which, he is loyal to ThunderClan, he's just wants to see the world]

Cricket would have the name Cricketheart, requesting to have a name similar to their ShadowClan mother's.

Feather would have the name Featherpad for his love of just going out on nice, long walks where he sometimes returns with prey with no answer of how he got it.

During the Brokenstar's rule, Cricketheart would likely die trying to sneak the young cats of ShadowClan away to the safety of other Clans - perhaps even trying to help Flintfang rebel

Their death would be a painfully public execution, happening on the thunderpath between Thunder and Shadow and being ThunderClan's reasoning to ban any more relationships between ThunderClan cats and ShadowClan cats

Featherpad would have to be explained what happened and he would try to take over his sibling's work, upset that someone would hurt Cricketheart

this would cause further divide and ostracization between him and the ThunderClan cats who doubt his loyalty [Tigerclaw, Darkstripe, Longtail, Mousefur, etc]

Ok ok so this isn't actually a fully developed thing (yet) but I've recently been engrossed in all those Warriors name generators using your birthday or initials, and I have a... totally reasonably sized horde of them. And so to rationalize some of the... extremely silly sounding ones, looking at you Winterfrost, Fallbounce, and Onethorn, what I've basically started working with is where a cats name is determined Entirely by an "outside" source. Basically there is a group of cats originating from all five (Skyclan gets to stay because Mwah. They still have a bunch of kittypets and daylight warriors though because I mean. Egg.) Clans exist underneath Four Trees, and kits and apprentices ready to become warriors are brought to them to be given their name. This group is pretty much entirely holed off from the rest of the Clans otherwise, only emerging to settle fights during gatherings, or when they get a Sign that a kit in the Clans has the ability to read the names of cats. How much of this is actually influenced by Starclan and how much of this is several generations of cats slowly going mad in a very dark series of holes under a big rock is up for debate.

This system Does eliminate abelism based names but instead you can end up as uh... one of the above silly names, or a real mouthful. So far the longest I've got is Kangarooclaw, but other fun names so far have been like, Kick-kit, Giddystep, or Cricketheart, one of the evil dead cats. You can guess why she ended up with That particular name.

Cricketheart was silent as she stared at the slab of Moonstone beneath their paws, her mouth slightly agape. After a moment, her mind reeling, she turned to her companion.

"Did you know Swampfur was-"

"No."

"Woah." Cricketheart blinked, stunned. Lynxpaw's mismatched paws' claws dug into the surface of the Moonstone, scratching it as she glared down at the stone.

Then she grinned.

"And here you were making fun of me for my brother meeting WindClan cats!" Cricketheart teased, playfully nudging Lynxpaw's shoulder.

Lynxpaw glowered at her. Then, she huffed, shoving her face into her paws. "Watching that deaf cat get rejected was the highlight of my afterlife."

these two give me so many feelings. just.... imagine dying and you don’t have anyone to greet you except your dad who ur not really close to either because he died when u were so young you dont remember or bcus he was kind of a sucky dad. and ur all alone, and ur dad has friends so its not the same, and all you can do is watch ur brother try and survive below and hope for the best but its hopeless for u bcus u kind of wish someone u know would die but its a horrible thought and u hate urself for it

and then you finally have someone who you know and grew up with but fuck its the girl who bullied you/the girl you despised

but you dont have a choice but to bond because, well, what else do you have? the lonely abyss of beautiful night stars?

(yes the background is the asexual spectrum flag. it provided the most night-sky affect out of the aroace-spec flags. Lynxpaw is demiromantic asexual, and Cricketheart is ???? unknown. just vibing. not particular interested in romance/sex so aroacespec maybe but who knows! she never thought about it. their relationship is queerplatonic friends. so like Copperleaf and Dawncloud’s, but the opposite way. instead of being romantically in love but with an undefined relationship, they’re just reluctant best friends forced to seek comfort from one another due to unfortunate circumstances. Lynxpaw probably develops a real crush but Cricketheart is just happy to have a friend again and oblivious yet also teases/flirts with her 24/7 and its not helping lol)

How are some of the Starclan cats taking Spottedleaf's death? Like cats who were close to her such as her parents, Redtail, Bluestar, Copperleaf, and Cricketheart?

Cats like Redtail, Bluestar, Lionheart, Adderfang, Swiftbreeze, Featherwhisker, etc.: Sad, but happy to see her mostly

Cats like Cricketheart, Lynxpaw, etc.: Distant sadness, not sure what to think of the whole Afterlife and Death concept yet, plus not overly close to Spottedleaf to be saddened by her passing

Cats like Copperleaf, etc.: Sad and deeply upset surrounding the circumstances

Cats like Silverstream: "...It was an accident. I don't see why everyone's so upset about Lightningfur's behavior. This is just the life of a warrior. So what, it was fine when Lionheart accidentally killed Whitefang, but not when Lightningfur accidentally killed Spottedleaf? Of course she didn't mean to kill her mother! She loved her mom. Can't you see how upset and broken she is about it?"

the newest chapter was so worth the wait… lynxpaw’s death was BRUTAL. she was so, so determined to earn her warrior name and thought this would be the perfect moment to prove herself. yet all of it was ripped away in an instant. (pun somewhat intended). i doubt she felt any pain, too. and thats what makes it even more sad. one moment, fighting for your life and the next, dead in the blink of an eye.

hunted lynx was a fantastic read as well. the scene that stands out to me most is when chestnutkit yells at lynxpaw and tells her that she at least *got* to know her littermates and become an apprentice. i wonder if it will resonate with her, at some point?maybe she would apologize to her little brother, then. look over him like she did swiftpaw.

i also enjoyed lynxpaw’s relationship with cricketheart. seeing them finally have the opportunity to talk about what happened and slowly blossom into friends, is incredibly heartwarming. i see their friendship consisting of one keeping the other in line and so on.

i wonder, will lynxpaw ever get a warrior name? an honorary title? i anticipate what happens afterwards in the living world.

Yes, Lynxpaw's sudden death is my favorite part. She remembers the jaws, but the actual pain of death? It was so brief, she didn't feel it. She still felt the pain of her other injuries, though, before that moment. But in that moment the fangs sank in and her spine cracked?... It was all over. Deeply sad to think about, but in a beautifully horrifying way to me. She fought so hard, but even she knew it was a loosing fight in the end

Yes Lynxpaw does apologize to Chestnutkit in the near future, and she does realize she got opportunities he didn't! She's still pretty bitter, but it's hard to be bitter for eternity when you've got peppy Cricketheart by your side! (though Cricketheart has her own issues, she puts on a happy mask)

Lynxpaw will never get an official name. To Lynxpaw, it doesn't mean anything because she never got to actually be a warrior. "It wasn't the name" as she said. ;( But I do imagine Cricketheart would constantly call her random fake names ranging from Lynxflight to Lynx-mouseface and silly stuff like that! A little joke between them :)
