Eddie Month day 8

prompt: rockstar & confident

Eddie looked up into the most beautiful face he’d ever seen.

“Hey there, easy, don’t try to get up yet. Can you tell me how many fingers you see?” The beautiful man came more into frame. There might’ve been a couple of him.

“Eight? Or maybe six?” He answered confidently. “Are you my husband?” The man sucked in a breath and looked away, searching for something. Eddie didn’t like that. “I don’t care how many fingers you have, gorgeous. That doesn’t matter at all to me. The more the merrier-“

“Get someone, I don’t understand why they don’t have medical or someone. He’s definitely concussed. Because I know, okay? Just, ugh, stop arguing with me and go find someone in charge. Or try to flag down someone on stage.”

Eddie had no idea what was happening, but his very hot husband seemed to be handling everything. He laid back and continued to stare up at him. There was a sharp pain on his temple and a dull ache in his head and his left wrist, but that couldn’t matter much.

“Forgive me baby, but I seem to have forgotten your name.” He smirked up at him. He reached a hand out to the middle person as his vision swam. That was fine, too.

The beautiful man knelt back down next to him and took his hand. “I’m Steve. You didn’t know my name before, though. We sort of just met. You fell off the stage during a sound check. And no one seems to give a fuck that you’re hurt and probably have a concussion.” That seemed like a lot. His temple pulled tight and he hissed when he tried to frown to think. “Don’t worry, though. I’m going to take care of you.”

“I’m not worried, Stevie.” He pulled their connected hands to his mouth and pressed a kiss to the back of his husband’s. “You always take such good care of me.”

“Oh man,” he heard him sigh. They were so in love. Eddie smiled and closed his eyes. It hurt to try to focus on the multiples of Steve and the people moving around behind him.

“What’s going on?” Someone with a stern voice made him jump some time later. He opened his eyes and saw Steve was still kneeling with him, so he closed his eyes again. He didn’t have to worry, Steve would handle it.

“He fell off the stage and hit his head. No one even came to check on him. He’s out of it and confused and probably concussed. He’s seeing at least double and he thinks- um, he thinks he knows me and he doesn’t.”

He perked up at that. “Well I think I would know my own husband!”

The new guy blinked at him then turned back to Steve. “Okay. An ambulance is on its way. Do you think we can get him over to the parking lot? It’s going to be a mess to try to get a stretcher through the crowd.”

Steve mumbled something under his breath that sounded like a combination of very creative swear words and Eddie chuckled. His husband was such a hard ass.

“We can try but if he gets dizzy or worse we’re stopping and you’re just going to have to do something to get a stretcher here. How do you plan a festival with zero medical staff? This is fucking ridiculous and-“

“It’s okay, baby, I can walk.” He sat up quickly and the crowd spun around him. “Woah. Maaaaybe not.”

“Exactly. Okay, lay back down. I got you.” Steve’s other hand came around the back of his head to guide him as he leaned back. There was a rolled up shirt or something he hadn’t realized had been tucked behind his head. Probably Steve’s. He was such a good husband.

There was a bunch more talking above him and he didn’t really listen. Steve’s voice got louder and more stern and then calmed down. A female voice came and Steve seemed to calm down even more.

“I love you so much, Stevie. Taking such good care of me. Gunna suck your dick so good when we get home.”

Steve made a choking noise and someone giggled next to them.

“Eddie!” A familiar voice called. “Eddie what the fuck?”

He opened his eyes to see Gareth and Jeff hovering over him. “Oh hey guys,” he greeted them. When he tried to sit up a hand pushed his chest back down. “Stevie here is taking care of everything. I guess I hit my head?”

“We thought you just disappeared. They finally got Chrissy on the radio to tell us you fell and they’re waiting on an ambulance. What the fuck, dude? And who is Steve?”

“Steve, my husband? Obviously.” He waved their conjoined hands for emphasis.

He looked up to see Steve wince and Gareth and Jeff share a puzzled look. The hand on his chest left.

“Sorry. Hi, I’m Steve. I was just sort of here, when he fell. He’s confused. I think he has a concussion.”

He watched them all shake hands, the guys now looking more concerned than before.

“Shit, man. If we don’t play we don’t get paid. We need this.”

“We can stay with him, if that’ll help. Can you go on without him?” Steve offered.

The guys shared another look. Jeff shrugged, “I mean, we probably have to. We can swap out some of the songs where he’s the lead-“ he looked around. “We need to go talk to Chrissy. Gareth, give him your number so he can keep in contact with us. We really appreciate this, Steve.” Jeff disappeared and he watched, confused, as Steve handed Gareth his phone. Why were they acting like they didn’t know each other?

Before he could question anyone, there was a stretcher and people in uniforms helped get him onto it and wheeled him through a crowd of people. He kept his eyes on Steve who stayed beside him and held his hand the entire way.

“You riding with us?” The EMT asked Steve after they locked the stretcher into the ambulance.

Eddie answered, “Of course, this is my husband.”

Steve sighed. “Yes and no. I’m coming. I am not his husband, though. He’s concussed and we just met.”

The other EMT raised her eyebrows. “Alright then. Glad you were around.”

Steve settled onto the seat next to him and took his hand again.

Eddie settled back and looked up at him. “Me too.”

Made Marion Development Update, Feb 2024

Hello everyone, and happy belated Valentine's Day! Will took a moment of his time to make everyone a very special Valentine.

Darn it, Will.

The Writing Desk

I am moving into Will Chapter 2! These first couple months of Will route development have been challenged by some unavoidable IRL issues, but those are all cleared up now and I am devoting the rest of February and March fully to writing Will's route.

Chapter 1, as predicted, will be around 20,000 words. I still have one more Chapter 1 scene to finish, but it's a big action scene, and those tend to take me forever as I figure out all the logistics. I decided that rather than delaying the rest of the adventure, I'll slowly add to that action scene while writing Chapter 2.

Art Roundup

Some backers have been curious as to the completion status of our art, so here's the roundup:

Sprites and CGs (Arrapso)

All main character sprites are complete, save for a ??? variant sprite that will only be seen in the DLC.

We have 3.5 major NPC sprites yet to be completed: Hugh, leader of the Grey Wolves (backer sprite); Issa, Lord Geoffrey's cousin in from Nibiru (backer sprite); Kafeel, leader of Nottingham's Sunjati Merchant association and Will's friend; and the final version of Thomas, a character who is only seen in Alanna's route. I will need Kafeel for Will's EA release and am hoping to have Hugh and Issa for it as well, although they are more important on the Nottingham side.

After those are complete, Arrapso's main job will be CGs. I have ordered 4/5 Will CGs and am still deciding on the design for the final one. We also still need to design the backer wallpapers (which will be available in PC and phone formats).

Backgrounds & Creature Sprites (Sandra)

Backgrounds are almost entirely finished. I have one more major background to commission and then it'll just be the occasional variation as needed or maaaaybe one or two more major backgrounds later on to add more variation to the Nottingham Town exteriors.

All major creature sprites are complete. I may commission one of Geoff's beloved hunting hounds during his route, but haven't decided yet. Meissa's bird friend will likely be a cut-in like our messenger doves.

Lore Intro and Cut-Ins (Lawrichai)

Lawri has been having some IRL challenges but should be back with us soon. Her main jobs right now are sexy silhouettes and the lore intro animation. We may be transforming the lore intro graphics into a full .webm animation instead of using Ren'py's built in Animation and Transition Language, as this might actually be easier for Lawri, as well as looking a lot smoother and making me pound my head against my desk less. It's a win/win/win! We'll have more on this next time.

Otherwise, Lawri's work is ongoing depending on budget and how much she is able to complete from route to route (I can always add in more cut-ins, but for now we're focusing on more critical ones as we have time after the sexy sils are complete per route).

So that's where we are with art right now! We're in pretty good shape overall, there just might need to be some more intense art production while I complete the second half of Will's script.

I don’t think he should. After so much stress and tramua in his young life I think he should take a more relaxed role such as mediator or maaaaybe medicine cat?

Something that doesn’t take him on patrols that are potentially triggering to the tom. And if he is leader the clan that temporarily took him in could definitely give him some leadering lessons and basic warrior training-

no worries! bitterndrift is on it! poor cliffs had a long couple of months though </3

honestly i totally agree that a non-leadership role would be good for cliffpaw after all of this; guy became sole caretaker of three kids when he's still a kid himself

2BHANK FLUFF RAAAAAAGHHHHHH!!!

It's a cold night.

Freezing.

It's gonna be like this for a couple months.

The mercenary shuddered in his small room. You could walk from one side to another in just 6 steps, which made just enough space for his bed, desk, and closet. Hank's room branched off their medics- Doc's room, to avoid problems once he woke up from being stitched back together.

Like violent outbreaks.

To keep the others safe.

But damn it's cold in here.

Hank's body doesn't make the heat it used to months ago, after repeatedly dying and being revived. His body got colder and colder every time he came back, but the warm weather made up for it- which made winter absolute hell ironically enough. His room didn't have a heater, and he didn't own one to plug into the wall, neither did anyone else. Since they have their lovely heat-generating bodies.

What time was it? The mercenary glanced at the clock across from his bed.

2:34 AM

These blankets weren't doing much to help him warm up. No matter how many layers of fabric he had to cover him, Hank would never be able to warm up.

…on his own, that is.

Hank's brows furrowed in deep thought. Would it be weird? They've only been together for what- two weeks? Relationships weren't his greatest subject, so he wasn't sure what to think. He let out a huff of annoyance, being confused felt horrible. He flicked the blankets off him, and made his way to the door.

He poked his head out, the soft red glow from his goggles slightly illuminating his face. Stepping out of his own, he scanned Doc's room, still unsure of what he was doing. The floor was cold under his paw pads, silently making his way to his partner's bed. Hank had no plan, no idea what he would do. Should he climb in bed with his medic? Should he wake him up first?

He studied Doc's face, he looked… peaceful. Unbothered. Soft. Warm. Hank's hand twitched, he felt a sudden need to have the smaller man in his arms, to hold his face, to be close to him. His heart stopped when the medic shifted in his sleep.

Is he waking up? Why is he waking up? Did I stare at him too hard? Arrghh-

"The hell are you doing?"

Hank blinked, looking back at his partner's- now awake- face. Oops.

Doc looked up at the shadow hovering over his bed, its bright red eyes gleaming at him.

Thats his boyfriend, staring at him in his sleep. Like the weirdo Hank is.

Just a month ago this would've made his fur stand on end and freak him out, but now all he wanted to do was go back to bed.

Hank started to panic, was Doc upset? Maybe he should just go back to his room, but that would be awkward… but not really? What part of him wasn't strange? It was pathetic really, a whole mercenary, unable to tell his lover he couldn't sleep because of the cold. Doc was looking at him like he was waiting for something? Oh, right… um.

"Im cold"

Stupid. Why did I say that. What is wrong with you.

"…You're cold?.."

He probably thinks im being weird, I should just go back-

"You can sleep with me if you want, it's okay"

Oh.

Doc gestured for Hank to climb in bed, gently pulling his hand. The medic smiled sleepily, making room as Hank settled down beside him. He wasn't kidding, Hank's skin was cold to the touch.

"Poor thing, why didnt you tell me?" His voice rough from waking up, Doc shifted to face his body towards his partner, who glared back at him.

"Are you making fun of me?"

"No, i'm not making fun of you," So defensive. Doc tried to stifle his giggles, burying his face into a pillow. He looked back up to Hank, putting a hand on his masked face. Cold, so cold.

"Were you too shy to ask?" The medic asked slyly, smiling even wider once Hank furrowed his brows again.

"No, I wasnt shy. I just… thought it would be weird."

Now Doc was raising his eyebrows, "you thought it would be weird to sleep with me, the guy who so happens to be your boyfriend." Hank blinked, and pushed his face into Doc's hand. Warmth.

"I dunno. Stop making me feel weird." Feeling sheepish, Hank's face heated a little. I guess it wouldn't have been that strange for me to ask to sleep with him. The taller man sighed, and pressed his body into Doc's. Warm, so damn warm.

"Yeah, this is what you've been missing out on." Doc rubbed his thumb over where Hank's cheek would be, he felt a little bad for him. Hank's room wasn't the warmest, but he didn't realize his body stopped warming up as much as it should. Should've invited him to sleep with me.

"Do you feel better?"

Hank nodded, wrapping an arm around Doc's back, pressing them so close together it felt like he'd never be cold again. He let the medic pull his mask down, the light touches of his fingers made Hank's heart flutter. Doc set a hand on his jaw, letting his heat seep into the cold metal, and pulled him closer for a kiss. The feeling of Doc's lips against his own made the warmth in Hank's chest grow, he pressed deeper, savoring the taste of his lover.

Once they pulled their faces away to breathe, Hank buried his face into Doc's neck, his fur soft against his scarred face.

"I love you."

Gentle hands stroked the back of Hanks neck, and wrapped around his back. "I love you too," replied Doc's voice. There was another sound, a trill. The medic was purring, low and a little rough, as if he hasn't done that in a long time. For once, Hank felt comfortable, warm, happy, and safe. He finally drifted off into a deep sleep, the best he's had in months.

I thought of a secret third option for Darius having/not having a palisman. Or perhaps a "why not both?" option, I guess.

Darius having a palisman carved but it never awakens. Not for a lack of trying. Darius probably went into it as confident as Luz had but ended up spending weeks, maybe even months, spouting whim, after wish, after want, trying to connect to his palisman. Eventually he just stopped trying. His pride probably kept him from confiding in anyone about it, after all, it's hard not to find the fault with himself when that's the only possibility available. Probably told people he didn't even have one carved until he nearly believed it himself.

But, same as the palistrom wood itself, even unawakened palisman contain magic. And as far as Darius knew, his future at the top was more important than a piece of wood gathering dust for years (he wasn't bitter or anything)

And, if we're talking MH or even late-game Eventually!au, retrospection on that decision... doesn't feel great. Considering he now knows what exactly the emperor did with them coupled with the fact that Jasper and Hunter are essentially witch-shaped palisman, in a way. Maaaaybe something that gets brought up with his therapist years down the line. (BI Therapists unfortunately probably see a lot of patients who had given up their palisman to the empire, willingly or unwillingly)

I feel like a palisman has to be awakened to be Eatable for the emperor. But I'm still vibing hard on the "Darius has never possessed the self actualization to awaken a palisman because he has spent a lifetime lying to himself and everyone around him about what he is, what he wants, what he knows"

I'm imagining something a bit simpler I think.... oh! I've also said before that he was somewhat poor growing up. Perhaps they couldn't afford Palistrom wood and instead of admit that, Darius threw himself into telling everyone that he was just SOOOO good at magic he didn't need to CHEAT by using a palisman and he had abominations to do anything a PALISMAN could do AND they could do it better. And he says this over and over and over until he almost believes it himself. Except then he DOES have the money to get some! He's a big shot now! So he gets some... quietly... under the table... cuz he doesn't want to lose his rep... and he carves something cool maybe, but it just won't wake up. No matter what he does or says. Almost like it's ALSO judging him like everything else always has. But Darius is a liar, he lies to himself, he lies to everyone about himself until he doesn't know it's a lie anymore. He sells himself on poise and confidence and fake it till you make it energy.

But the palisman won't wake up because Darius has no idea what he actually wants. He never does, not until he's too late.

And maybe he does hand over this unawakened palisman when he starts working in the castle proper as a show of loyalty. Maybe he doesn't admit it was for himself but that someone made it for him even though he OBVIOUSLy didn't need it... maybe it woke up for someone else? Maybe it got tossed in a pile of contraband. I dunno!

*claps* Soooo, its been a hot second since I uploaded a Tier list here, and since we're most likely gonna be getting the next batch of Helluva Boss eps pretty soon (dunno if in this exact month or so, given Hazbin Hotel's focus in February .3.), I figure it'd be safe to still give my general opinion of all the HB eps we've gotten so far (from the initial pilot to the Mammon ep). Hope you all enjoy reading!

NOTE: Like with my past tiers, these are all just my own personal opinions listed below, so DO try to keep things civil if you disagree with anything here. Thank you- 🙏

~Fave~

-"Ozzie's" (S1 Ep. 7) By FAR the ep that truly captured all of the show's best qualities into one, and I still find myself going back to it more times than I could count!~ 🤩👏👏Everything from the gorgeously animated Lust ring visuals, the whole climax of the ep being carried out through-song, Fizzarolli & Asmodeus making their debuts as the wickedly fun power couple, and of course there's the major focus to Blitz and Stolas as a whole here :O What started as a faux-date in order for Blitz to sneak into Ozzie's club/spy on M&M, became something that truly tackled the inner flaws to both their characters; Blitz as the emotionally closed-off, insecure imp who finally told off Stolas when-alone ("-Stolas, DON'T act like what we have is anything more than You. Wanting Me. To F*** you. Okay?? You make that really clear, all the time..."), to Stolas's own transgressions being turned against him in-public ("You used to have a smoking wife! A kid! You had it ALL~! I hope you didn't give it up, so you and him could get it ooooon... you sold your life for a thruuuuuust~!")... all resulting in said prince silently reflecting on what he had done, all alone out on his front manor steps, now....💔 Just... daaaaang, now THAT was truly something I never expected to see in a silly, raunchy assassin-focused show like this... but man was I eager for more once the credits came to a close! 😭👏👏

-"Loo-Loo Land" (S1 Ep. 2) Definitely one of the more "classic" S1 eps for alot of people, and the one that most definitely got me into the show full-on~ 😊 While maaaaybe an odd choice to have the second-ever ep of a series focused on a side character (or, in this case a side character's child lol), I was very much invested in Octavia's story the more we got to know her~ 🥺✨ A lonely owl princess who used to be filled with wonder in her childhood years... torn apart by her parents' crumbling marriage (+Stolas' infidelity) as a teenager. And now with her dad trying to recapture old memories by taking her back to Loo-Loo Land, we got a new glimpse into Stolas' character as he does all he can to be a doting (if ignorant) dad, struggling to balance those attributes with his attraction to Blitz (+him & the other IMP antics at the park), only for everything to backfire at the Robo Fizz show in-question. Ultimately, all building up beautifully to Stolas being acknowledged as having acted selfishly ("I just wanna go home, but home doesn't feel like home anymore. You ruined it..."), but at the same time... also showing him capable of admitting when he's wrong, enough to make things right by his daughter 🥹Which just... d'awww, never fails to hit me in the heart ngl~ 🙏💜

~Amazing~

-"Mammon's Magnificent Musical I'm not typing the whole title lol" (S2 Ep. 7) P h e w, quite a mouthful of an ep this was... and yet one I gladly ate up in-full for how entertaining it was!~ 👏👏 Fizzarolli coming back to show more of his insecurities/fears of losing his status in-life, all the great songs and visual imagery to explain his plight, Mammon being a surprisingly fun villain who was both bombastic and threatening, Asmodeus & Blitz serving well as supports to Fizz, and I even loved the smug-but-determined bitch energy for the Glitz & Glam twins~ 👌 Even if part of me kiiiiiinda feels like we could've gotten a whole season's worth of story with Fizz's focus here (as is, we most likely won't get another one of these with him if he's not gonna become a main-stay lead :c), I still very much recommend this one for anyone up for a good bit of musicals, angst, feels and hope for a character like Fizzie~ 🥹💜

-"Oops" (S2 Ep. 6) For the first ep that really dove into Fizzarolli in his own focus plot, this remains a pretty fun ep in alot of different ways! 😄 From Fizz being a chaotically goofy weirdo to root for, his adorable relationship with Asmodeus, the reunion with Blitz bringing back SO much angst and feels (esp as they both got kidnapped), it all really made you invested to see these two work through things once the plot got rolling~ 🥹🙏 Now, was it a "totally" perfect ep? ...Weeeeell, I'll admit I was a bit bummed that Asmodeus didn't get to do a whole lot than just sitting in a boring ol' office, Stolas (though he had some amusing lines) lowkey felt a bit pointless here as he just read a bunch of papers all day, and while I'm glad we got even more of Striker as a threat... idk, him randomly teaming up with Crimson just felt like an odd writing choice ngl .x. BUT hey, we got to see Blitz and Fizz finally making that move to amend things between them, some interesting plot potential with Stolas buying an Asmodean crystal (most likely to end his "deal" with Blitz), and the potential for Fizz to truly shine as a main lead really made it a worthwhile ep nonetheless~ :3

-"Truth Seekers" (S1 Ep. 6) The penultimate ep before the S1 finale, and boy was it a thrilling one!~ 👀 Even if the main human characters from the DHORK agency weren't too terribly interesting, the rest of the ep remained pretty solid in getting us invested to the action!👍From all the intense action of IMP racing to save one another from the human agents, the deep dives into Blitz & Moxxie's psyche as they reveal their genuine value to one another as friends (beyond just the snarky jests/insults), and even that end shot of the humans revealing they've captured everything on-camera really added to the stakes for what our protagonists could get into next~ :O Now, granted I can see why some could take issue with certain parts like the deus-ex-machina style ending (cool as it was seeing Stolas becoming an eldritch horror lol), along with some of the conflicting implications from Blitz's "trip" (like, are we meant to see Stolas in a good light with all that golden/“heavenly” imagery… or someone we’re meant to root against with Blitz being chained to him? .-.), but ultimately its not enough to take me out of the ep overall imo.

~Great~

-"Harvest Moon Festival" (S1 Ep. 5) As the first-ever introduction to our fave cowboy Striker, I'd say I still find myself having fun going back to this ep here & there :). Seeing his sly charm & charisma with our main leads, his genuine strength during the competition/end fight with the IMP crew, and the way he was able to break through Blitz's own inner-struggles with Hell's hierarchy ("-You are SO above suckin' on a disgusting, rich, pompous Goetia, only to sneak topside for scraps and work for bitter sinners, who could care less who you are, when you could be slaying Overlords...")... was just peak character-building, right there~ 👌👌 With all that said... why is this ep not ranked higher with the others above? ...Well, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't at least a lil salty that this turned out to NOT be a Millie-centered ep T-T. Like... come oooon, we're right here in her hometown, her whole family's here, AND there's a whole competition about Imp fighting & Wrathian strength... you're seriously gonna give most of the spotlight to Moxxie instead, and then leave poor Millie more to the sidelines (even during the big Striker battle)? Smhhhh... -n-

-"Queen Bee" (S1 Ep. 8) About time we finally got the "official" last ep of S1... and though not quiiiite as grandiose compared to "Ozzie's", I couldn't help having fun with it nonetheless ^^. The Gluttony ring visuals were pretty, Bee(zlebub) was a fun new character, we got to see Vortex back as a supportive bud to Loona's struggles at the party, and even Loona & Blitz's father & daughter-bond focus (esp during the ending) was honestly pretty touching 🥺 Though, sadly I can't quiiiite rank this one much higher, due to this more-or-less being on the "filler"-range of eps (and Loona's development here unfortunately not carried through to S2... which ironically aired before this one did, so... oof >>; ), its still nice seeing the final vision of it after so long of waiting for it way back then 😊

-"Spring Broken" (S1 Ep. 3) One of the more "low-stakes" eps of the series, but one I still find a nice bit of charm too on its own accord ^^. We got a fun mix of cattiness from Blitz and his popstar-ex Verosika, Loona showing more of a softer side through her crush on Vortex, and a fun change of scenery by having the main IMP gang go up to challenge the Succubi at the beach (-all over a petty disagreement about a parking space, of all things lol). Granted, I do wish we could've actually seen more of a proper resolution to Blitz & Loona's fight (rather than them abruptly dropping it for a monster fish threat (+Moxxie getting drunk)?), but nonetheless its a nice lil palette-cleanser for those who want a break from shipping drama & angst :>

~Good~

-"Helluva Boss" (aka: The Pilot) While it may not be considered "canon" anymore in the grand scheme of things... I honestly can't help still having a soft spot for the original pilot that kicked off this whole series ^^. For the time, it was a nice mix of casting we got from Blitz introducing his classic "raunchy dumbass" self, Moxxie being more of a down-to-earth snarker to Blitz's antics than a punching bag, and even those like Loona & Millie had a nice bit of "bite" to their characterizations (that didn't just left them feeling like the token "girls" of the group). Heck, even Stolas seemed like he would've made for a fun villainous threat with the whole phone call scene with Blitz (pushy, threatening but still keeping his posh-rich guy schtick... think Brandon Rogers' British series in a way lol). As unpolished & awkwardly-paced the pilot was in hindsight (as even story-wise it lowkey felt more like a bunch of skits than a cohesive plot, I'll admit .w.; ), I think it could still use some fan-appreciation nonetheless 👍

-"Murder Family" (S1 Ep. 1) The more "official" first ep of the series... and, while admittedly not as memorable as the OG pilot, I think its still a fine ep on its own accord imo ^^. The main cast is still generally solid, I enjoyed Mrs. Mayberry & her story against Martha (+her secret killer family lol), and though a lil low-stakes in the long run, I think it sets up some interesting potential for characters like Stolas to become more relevant (-albeit his whole "deal" with Blitz not... exactly aging well, even for his previous-established creepiness .-.;; ) Still, for what it was I'd say it was a fine start to the series👍

-"C.H.E.R.U.B." (S1 Ep. 4) Seems to be considered the general least-favorite for alot of the fandom back when it aired... buuuuut tbh, I don't really think its that bad, looking back? ^^; Like, yeeaaaah its not a perfect ep; as the Cherubs (save for the purple one) were a bit forgettable in-hindsight, the old geezer duo weren't too interesting to get invested in, and I can see why some would take issue with the lowkey-unfair ending (I mean... really, kicking the Cherubs out of Heaven purely for an accidental death? Harsh :/). ...But other than that, I'd say this ep was honestly a bit refreshing to not be focused on melodrama or ship angst... as instead it kept its focus more on the IMP crew's assassin gig & their wacky shenanigans against their squeaky-clean rivals lol. With honestly a good handful of jokes I still find myself chuckling at today, I think if this ep just had a lil bit of polish/fine-tuning, I think this could've very well been a good pattern to have kept going for the rest of the show imo. 'Cause after all... wasn't that what the show was advertised as at the start, a series of goofy assassin-based adventures? lol

-"Western Energy" (S2 Ep. 4) For the time, I'll admit to finding this among the more "okay" S2 episodes... and, I guess I still think thats the case (albeit a lil less now)? Like, yeah its not exactly the most special looking back given its... kinda clunky-handling of the "Stolas gets kidnapped" A-plot, Striker (tho fun as it is seeing him return) coming off a bit watered down character-wise, Stella's brother Andrealphus feeling randomly thrown-in (no proper intro or however he's just... there as Stolas & Stella are having tea? .-.) whereas Stella's just left as a joke in-comparison, and... yeaaaaah I still don't get why they only NOW decided to address the "Ozzie's" drama on-screen (...through a blink-and-you'll-miss-it text message, wow 🤦‍♀️). ...Buuuut, at the same time, I did find myself enjoying some of the B-story with Blitz & Loona (even if she was silent for it all), as we got a sweet lil view into Blitz's priorities at-play (preferring to keep his daughter comfortable at her appointment ahead of dropping everything for Stolas👍). Could the humor & pacing been better? Certainly... but for what it was (along with M&M's contributions during their Stolas rescue), I don't mind going back to this ep for at least those lil highlights .3.

-"Exes and Oohs" (S2 Ep. 3) Now, admittedly I didn't mind this ep too much back when it originally aired... buuuut the more I think on it nowadays, I'm just not sure if its "aged" the best tbh. Even with the unique premise of focusing onto Moxxie's side of things, from his family upbringing to his devotion to Millie... it ultimately fell kinda flat since Crimson (admittedly entertaining as he was at times) basically felt like any other generic mob boss at the end of the day, Chaz being a painfully unfunny presence with all his "hurrhurr I'm sexy~" humor, and even as I wanted to enjoy Millie taking a stand for her husband's defense... idk, it just kinda felt like the same "Millie gets to be kickass while Moxxie watches" song & dance we've been used to, already 🤷‍♀️ Not to say the ep's completely without its merits, as I did enjoy Blitz's addition as more of a chaotic doof than his usual asshole schtick here, the murkier green atmosphere a nice change of pace setting-wise, and the childhood Moxxie flashback being chillingly sad to watch... buuuuut if yall are gonna immediately backpeddle from such intensity through a literal d***-on-the-wall gag, then like... whats the point? :/

-"The Circus" (S2 Ep. 1) Definitely seems to be the most... "base-breaking" ep of the series, as you've got half the fans who do love it for exploring Stolas' backstory... to those who can't stand it for the continuity errors, melodrama & fanfic-y writing. For me... while I don't outright hate it, personally (as I do still enjoy some of the pretty visuals, Paimon (voiced by Jafar lol) being an entertaining asshole-type character, and some of the flashback scenes with the kid-aged cast were cute), I just... have the hardest time fully-enjoying the ep whenever I look back on it :( Namely for this... sadly being the point to where Stolas went from a delightfully creepy, entitled but ultimately nuanced/morally-grey presence to... just your average "uwu poor bean who did nothing wrong & only wanted true looooove~ 🥺🥺" protagonist from literally any cheap Y/A romance novel 🤷‍♀️. Nothing really seeming to be his fault anymore as we've got Stella being confirmed a heartless shrew their whole marriage, Paimon having been the catalyst that instilled the Goetia's toxic views into Stolas from childhood, and now Blitz having been shown as the one who "lead on" Stolas since the get-co (even as kids as he basically stole all his stuff under the guise of being his playmate + seduced Stolas while he was drunk). And like... if the show needs to bend over backwards THIS much to make you root for a character... then I just ain't interested in 'em anymore. Sorry :/

-"Unhappy Campers" (S2 Ep. 5) Y'know, it says alot about an episode when it becomes the universal least favorite for alot of the fandom overnight... myself included -_-. Like... really? This has to be the point in finally giving M&M the major-A plot together? One where they're basically both at their worst (from Moxxie being a whiny drama queen, to the writer's attempt at "Millie depth" feeling more like a half-assed ploy to ward off her critics), the humor being an absolute cringe-fest all the way through (like... whyyyy oh why did they had to make the setting at a kid's camp, of all things? 🤢), and as much as I wanted to enjoy the B-story with Blitz finding his sister Barbie (even more for her not immediately forgiving him right away)... the fact that it was ultimately just too rushed in and forgotten about by the end doesn't do the ep any favors for me :/ Need I say more...

-"Seeing Stars" (S2 Ep. 2) Ugh... while I guess not technically the worst HB episode given the previous one I mentioned... this one just, never fails to bug me for how filled to the brim it was of missed opportunities🤦‍♀️. What should've been a wholesome & touching ep focusing on Octavia's struggles with her parents' divorce, getting to bond with Loona, and allowing them space to just hangout & have fun outside of their respective homes... was instead just a pointless venture into a bland af Hollywood setting, Stol*itz fanservice at some sitcom eating up the runtime (-all the while not addressing anything from the "Ozzie's" ep, prior), Loona being WAY too violent to her dad for no reason (even beyond her usual grumpiness) that it felt OOC, M&M adding nothing but cheesy fluff for the upteenth time... ...and the worst part of it for me, was just how backwards in logic it was to paint Octavia as "wrong" for being upset at her dad... WHEN SHE HAD EVERY FREAKIN' RIGHT TO BE??😑Yes, I know he loves her, and that he is "trying"... but jfc Stolas, did you need to stay on the phone arguing with Stella all-morning? Did you need to act so helpless and distracted at the studio with Blitz (-when you're literally the same dude who raised hell to save IMP in "Truth Seekers"...WITHOUT the grimoire on top of that)?? *sighs* And like... as much as I want to give him kudos for (kinda?) apologizing & making amends at the end with Via... idk, I feel like that ultimately further-added to me growing disinterested in Stolas' character 😔. I could go on but... yeah. Even as a Via fan, this ain't an ep I'd watch again anytime soon...

happy birthday

According to the vet's office's records, which we know are a guess but an educated one, today is Chita Rivera the Cat's 16th birthday.

In celebration Dude made me watch the SNL sketches about Toonces the Driving Cat (the cat who can drive a car! Just not very well).

But Chita does not want to go take her permit test today, she just wants to chill. Preferably on my arm. As she has been all week.

It's WIP WEDNESDAY! Thanks for the tag @starrylothcat !

This is a mapped out scene from WIP that I haven’t released yet. Fives is the OC's best friend (and self-elected wing man) and Rex will eventually be her beau.

And because I can't help myself, here is a *little bit* of context:

In the end of galactic year 22 BBY, after months of rejections, revisions, proposals, and a growing unrest within the public, particularly those who wish to be perceived as charitable, the Senate of the Galactic Republic passed the GAIHTC, the Galactic Initiative for the Humane Treatment of Clones. This initiative endeavored to combat the growing dissent among the larger galactic community against the use of clones as a standing military force. Questions of ethicality, inherent disapproval of cloning practices, or disagreement with a standing Galactic Army altogether being primary points brought before the Senate. The Senate Proposal, GAIHTC, assigned members of the Galactic Republic Military Reserves to clone forces in an attempt to pacify these concerns and prevent further unrest among citizens.

[Fives corners Ems in the barracks as they prep for briefing for their next mission.] "Well?"

"Well what?"

"Oh, come on, Ems! You gotta tell me what happened with you and Rex!"

"I'm not sure what you mean."

"EMBREY-" [narrowed eyes] "You know you can't lie to me." "Come on, come on, come on- tell me what happened. Give me the juicy details!" [Grimace] "Wait- actually- no, don't give me the juicy details." [Shiver]

[Smug silence]

"You're really gonna ice me out, Ems??"

[Another pause, she's making him sweat a little] "I never kiss and tell, Fives." [Smirk, maybe a wink]

[His eyes go wide, and he laughs just a little too loudly, drawing attention of a few troopers] "I KNEW IT!"

"Shh!" [Embrey moves past him, preparing to put on her helmet, leans in a little and whispers] "Thank you." [She puts on her helmet, and knocks a couple times on his shoulder, *tnk, tnk* and walks away.]

[With a soft smile, Fives puts on his helmet and follows behind her.]

Maaaaybe a little more than the usual WIP Wednesday post, but I like to live dangerously 😉

Nanowrimo Week 3

Word count: 5987

Ey look at that!! Almost 6K!!! 🤩

These last couple of days I haven't been writing for Nano, but I have been doing some other writing, like writing for a side-side project and just today I did an entire (if loose) outline for a new wip that just dropped in my head lmao.

This chapter in WCB that will most likely be the last one I do this month is heavy in dialogue, so I'm hoping that helps me with the word count and to finish it on time for the end of November so maaaaybe I can get 10K here. If not, I'm already satisfied managed to add +5K to it.

We're in the home stretch!!! 10 more days until the end of Nano!!!

Me, to whoever unironically believing that: Kristen Reidel and Buck's cheating/sperm donor drama hello? Anyone?

She's picked as the co-showrunner because Tim likes her brand of drama the most. Why haven't people realized that? Is being a "911 writers' stan" cloud the judgment so much?

I don't think it's about "stanning" a show runner as much as it is wanting or trying to promote the belief that their choices have a purpose that matches the fandom's, especially when a lot of the activity in this space comes from people who write fics and paragraphs worth of analysis and speculation. If Tim was still dividing his time between both shows or there was no spinoff, you wouldn't see the "good riddance" reaction going around since s4 of LS started. They'd *have* to put their faith in him because there would be no backup plan. This is evident in the "defense" of the two story lines you mentioned. Buck cheating was (from a fandom POV) supposed to spell the downfall of BT. It did not. It was also supposed to be an indication of Buck's "regression" and inevitable breakdown. It was neither of those things. Mainly because Eddie's breakdown followed immediately after and Buck had to be on his best behavior to care for Chris/offer Eddie emotional support. Now that the arc is closed, nobody brings it up because it added nothing to his story. BT broke up because TayKay's work got in the way, giving people the excuse to harp on about terrible they were together or she was as a person. (We were never supposed to like her for him or them together. Maaaaybe if the fandom wasn't celebrating her #charactergrowth in s4 and pushing the idea that she would stay on as a platonic friend, the trajectory of the relationship could have gone differently, but alas. They were duped.)

With the sperm donor arc, the initial thought process (my preferred outcome, obv) was that Buck wouldn't actually go through with it because he'd realize he isn't built for not being a constant presence in his bio kid's life. And for the bloggers who think they know everything, it doesn't make sense if canon!Buddie isn't the outcome. (A lot less likely now that the spotlight is on another couple. Can't have social media talking about Buddie and Buddie only.) Making a rash decision, but then having the universe "scream" via failed donor attempts or having Buck speak to someone from his family about the mistake he'd be making and then he realizes he shouldn't do it, would have been a good story, absolutely. Stop doing things for other people, Buck! Do them for you! Because you understand your worth now! But here we are months later and: - His attempt at helping make a baby was successful, and proven successful in the 6A finale, meaning we're nowhere near the end. - The show runner was already talking about the impending birth in her s5 post-mortem interviews. Unless it turns out that Connor was able to impregnate his wife (still rooting for this no matter how unlikely, especially when the reaction could have changed what was meant to happen down the line) there's gonna be a kid, and it will be biologically Buck's. IMO, the people who will still "applaud" the story line if it turns out Buck has a kid out there somewhere are the ones who want to see him with his "own family" because Chris isn't actually his. (Apparently "the family we chose" doesn't apply when there's an option for Big Man, Tiny Baby? Okay.) But to everyone else? RED FLAG. Kristen would not create a fictional child just to never bring it up again. It's easy drama. Also, the audience is going to know that Buck has someone else with his DNA. They are going to be thought of as "his kid", not Christopher, until canon says otherwise. It's a way to appease a certain part of the base in the event that Buddie goes canon because at least he got to have one of his own, right? And honestly, it works in the opposite scenario - Buddie remaining friends throughout - because TPTB have no way of knowing how long OG will run for or how long OS will stick around. If Buck gets a LI that's not Eddie, there may not be time for a pregnancy plot.
