I had a 7 y/o kid with an obvious conjunctivitis with red eye. He had mucopurulent drainage that caused his eye to be closed shut this morning. Rx'd gentamicin opthalmic drop. He needs to stay home for 24 hours, then he can return to school.

poor Juno is in the wars

my poor little Juno had conjunctivitis last week and is still quite ill with severe appetite problems (which is bad for rabbits).

Beginning of April I went to Leicester (farthest gone for any pet) and bought my new mini rex, Bramble and my Aunt got a dalmatian mini rex buck called Oreo.

Mated Oreo to Juno and noticed he had slight weeping eyes, to which my grandad said he was fine.

Turned out he had Conjunctivitis and had passed it to my Juno in one eye. An expensive vet trip later and they gave me eye drops to put in both eyes, three times daily for a week.

Last dose and all cured last Wednesday. My poor bitten and bruised arms are thankful.

Unfortunately, she had been in a lot of discomfort (was loudly teeth grinding) and has stopped eating her pellets. She nibbled barely any hay and cannot be given many greens due to her love of high calcium greens (which can cause bladder sludge in excess).

I sent her up the vet last night and thankfully her teeth are fine, but sadly her appetite hasn't improved.

I was given an appetite stimulant to syringe feed and she was given an injection of it last night. They palpated her as well (to check if medicine could interfere with baby bunnies) and She's absorbed her kits or had a phantom pregnancy, it was her first litter but I couldn't care less, as Im really worried of her health.

I've went out and got different flavour food (burgess excel hedgerow nuggets, old was the same brands regular nuggets), mixed dried fruit for pets, a pinch of dried mango and a bag of dandelion and lemon balm (our grass is wet and recently mown, so unsafe). Mixed it together in her food bowl and bought a shallow hedgehog bowl for her bed.

She's had conjunctivitis and now appetite problems (potentially gi stasis) in the space of a few weeks.

ps. Gi stasis is really dangerous and can become fatal if untreated.

It's absolutely an awful time and I'm really worried for my lovely angel. (Juno is the black mini rex, she is mentioned in my blog and currently is my avatar icon).

Dear Gus & Magnus,

Magnus is having one helluva run. He woke up today with an ugly case of conjunctivitis in his left eye. We had a telemedicine appointment and got him some eye cream that we have to put in his eye four times a day for a week. He and Gus have also picked up a cold, which wakes both of them up throughout the night, which wakes both of us up throughout the night. Not fun for anyone.

the funniest meltdown ive ever had was in college when i got so overstimulated that i could Not speak, including over text. one of my friends was trying to talk me through it but i was solely using emojis because they were easier than trying to come up with words so he started using primarily emojis as well just to make things feel balanced. this was not the Most effective strategy... until. he tried to ask me "you okay?" but the way he chose to do that was by sending "👉🏼👌🏼❓" and i was so shocked by suddenly being asked if i was dtf that i was like WHAT???? WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY TO ME?????????? and thus was verbal again

An acute red eye is a common presentation in primary care and it is critical to differentiate serious causes from benign causes. Pain is an important distinguishing feature for the acute red eye. Episcleritis is a self-limited condition that can be idiopathic or associated with autoimmune conditions. It is more common in females and usually presents with mild discomfort and focal hyperemia. Discerning episcleritis from scleritis is important. In general, the inflamed vessels of episcleritis will move with gentle pressure from a cotton-tipped applicator whereas those with scleritis will not, and the pain of scleritis is more intense. The treatment of episcleritis is symptomatic with topical lubricants and oral NSAIDs. If recurrent episodes occur, an autoimmune workup should be considered. Conjunctivitis is typically associated with a discharge that is clear in viral cases and mucopurulent in bacterial cases. Iritis is associated with significant pain, a poorly reactive pupil, diminished vision, and photophobia. This patient does not have changes in visual acuity, photophobia, or severe pain as seen in keratitis, which would also cause an abnormal fluorescein stain showing corneal ulceration.

A Cochrane review reports good evidence that salicylic acid is effective for the treatment of plantar warts. Candida injections may be indicated for warts that are difficult to treat, but they are not considered a first-line treatment. The application of duct tape has not been shown to be more effective than placebo. Manual paring and extraction of plantar warts carries a greater risk for complications and is not necessary for flat, minimally bothersome warts. Laser treatment may be effective, but the cost is not justified as initial therapy in this case.
