#stranger things#drawing#robin buckley#you know when drawing this one I was comparing it often to my Steve Harrington one and his mother#bc stobin are inseparable and that's the facts#but anyway in steves you see his mothers full face multiple times#she is there and present#confronting and yelling at steve#but in robins you don't really see her mother#you see her eyes and her back#and in the photo of her back she's only in her underwear#and I did this bc well I wanted to show her moms body in the sense that you can tell she had a child “a mom bod” if you will#I don't know I just thought it was interesting to explore the relationship between them in an audio from tt or a song where the words#are saying something obvious about their relationship but then adding little things in the composition and details that also explain how#I personally view their relationship#there's the idea that Steve and his mom are cofrontational and also there's a easy way they face each other or stare each other down#but robin never really looks at her mother or the “camera” and neither does her mother#and they also are never seen in the same frame together#cause there's a shame and a way robin I think would hide from her mother if she always tells her what she's doing wrong or how she looks#and also if the mother is saying things like that there has to be unease in herself#in her own body that mimicks robins just older#I just think mother relationships are fun okay#also I made the mothers eyes green and I always make robin wear green and what kind of thing can I pull out of my own head canons but the#idea that she avoids her mother and claims she hates her mother but still gets the most comfort in wearing the color of her mothers eyes?#I mean loving someone and finding the most comfort in them while also having the most discomfort with them is so I interesting and I think#it only really works with that mother-child relationship#anyway#art#digital art

Okay this might be a really weird ask so I'm sorry in advance but- what does Sera smell like? Does she smell like feathers because she has wings, like Vincent? (Again hope this isn't weird..)
Not weird at all! Lol a few people have asked before, you're all good.
Birdpeople have notoriously weak noses. Their sense of smell (and taste by proxy) is pretty dull as a result. It's partly how Ser's food is always plain and Vincent smells like a SAW-scented teen who's been tarred and feathered. Sera doesn't particularly care about expensive perfumes like someone (cough Sonia) but she does like floral scents.
She smells like Lavender (Body wash/Shampoo) and baby talc powder. (Powder keeps her wings nice, dry, and itch-free.) When she's not working she uses a rose perfume Nate gave her.

He goes out of his way to get nicely groomed to “get all the baddies 🤪” Okay Ricky.#He doesn't smell like anything when in goo form though.#Sonia smells like expensive perfume and body oils. It's awesome but can be a bit much at times. Vincent could not care less about it#Sonia would rather die than be rustic.#Vincent smells like Vincent. He is ironically extremely hygenic but the odds are never in his favor#Titan smells like caked blood#Dr. Strohl smells fresh and nice but also has a hint of retro tv static smell. Thank you, younger me, for drawing so many things in which the lines were never quite right. It is quite literally the only reason I ever figured out how to get them right.
#And I imagine future me will have a very similar thing to say when I am them and they are no longer me.#original#something about zyr improved composition and speed hopefully#i keep wanting to use she pronouns for future me. probably bc that is what i do for past me sometimes.#but i really don't think I'm ever going to want she her pronouns again#I still don't get my lines exactly how I want them a lot of the time but I am at a point where I'm fairly confident I can#produce nearly anything I see in my head and capture the spirit of it in a way that makes me proud.#even if it takes a really really long time sometimes.#and although I don't think the art I made growing up was bad i love the phrase#' the road to good art is paved with bad art.' I think I saw it in a video by Bobby Chiu? idk.#and I like it because whenever I'm not sure about what I'm making and I get to insecure or perfectionist about it#*too insecure#I remember that if I want to get good at the thing I'm struggling with I'm going to have to do it poorly or just okay a bunch of times#and that doing this is my ticket to this skill I'm placing value on. also doesn't hurt that Im drawing things I love and I enjoy doing it#although at this point I really really should just sit down and study leg muscles for like a hundred years#it's one of the more longstanding blindspots of mine. that and literally everything that is not people.#as in locations animals objects scenery... did you know that most graphic novels have some or all of those things???#how homophobic that in order to show my characters experiencing such luxuries as plot action and context I couldn't just#drop them on a gradient and be done with it!#I've been drawing for like 20 years and only a couple years ago was i like... do you remember back in december when i was brought on for this rebrand and had to like. rewrite this entire brand direction and voice in the span of a month. and then i had to write every single piece of text on their website in like two months. and then i was like "i hate this client!!! i hate this account!!" well maybe giving birth feels like that because now i love this account more than anything. this client is my baby. i will drop anything to do work for it
