Creation of the Pan Flag

Copied (with grammar/spelling mistakes) from my twitter thread about it for posterity.

I was going to do this for Pride weekend but you know, life, so: I wanted to talk about a thing. I created the #pansexual flag, a thread.

Back in 2010, I was 20 and tumblr was my main social playground. I was active in various spheres, and I was learning.

I'd been IDing as bi since I was 13, but moved away from bi as an identifier and took up pansexual soon after discovering the term, bc I felt it fit better.

This is mainly bc the simplicity of pan being defined as attraction to any/all genders was extremely appealing to someone really coming into this new way of expressing their orientation like tumblr allowed. It felt right for how I wanted to relate to and express my orientation.

The bi communities I had access too often saw heavy discussion related to attraction parametres of "bi" - convos at the time I didn't really recognise for what they were: bi people working hard to define bisexuality on their terms, tackling intra-community transphobia, (cont)

(cont) and developing within a social space where more expansive gender experiences and identities were becomes more well known and understood.

My switch of labels was about finding something that felt truly right for me, but it would be dishonest to pretend the decision wasn't impacted by the politics and "discourse" I was involved in at the time.

There was no popular pan flag, and the offerings were frankly... ugly. To me. Various shades of purple, P letters, P symbols incorporating gender symbols, infinity symbols. They didn't feel consistent with the other pride flags.

So on a whim, I decided to design one. I designed it to be pretty, honestly. That was a primary function of it, to have s/t I liked to represent my identity. No point pretending I was trying to be super innovative and deep: I wanted something pretty to plaster on my blog.

Pink, yellow, blue. A strong magenta, a strong gold yellow, and a light cerulean. The pink not too purple, the yellow not too bright, the blue not too cyan. Hex FF1B8D, FFD900, 1BB2FF.

Pink and blue, because of their gendered traditions, and yellow, a generally non-gendered colour, to represent nonbinary folks etc.

I created it anonymously, on a side blog away from my main handle. I was already running LGBTLaughs which was proving very popular in tumblr and didn't want to monopolise queer blog space, I suppose.

I didn't expect it to take off. It proved popular on tumblr, and for a few years the flag kept getting added to the Wikipedia 'pansexual' page and then removed. Eventually it snowballed and ended up in use well beyond tumblr.

As I've got older I've realised a lot of people would be interested in knowing this part of modern queer history, and more about modern flag creation in general, and that it's worth documenting. Not for credit so much as for posterity.

So, that's that. The first time I saw a pansexual flag in real life at my city's Pride parade I may have had a little cry.

There was a reason why the Avengers, the Guardians of the Galaxy, and the Justice League didn’t all get together: with that many superheroes, in one space, chaos was bound to break out. That chaos could be, quite literally, anything. From Iron Man challenging the Flash to an arm wrestling contest to Aquaman attacking Groot when he thought he was an enemy. Long story short, it just wasn’t a good idea . . . Until they found out that besides saving the world, all three teams had one thing in common: Y/N Y/LN.

Y/N had, to everyone’s astonishment, been on all three teams. Born as a Metahuman, she had started out on the Justice League team. Then, on a solo mission, she accidentally entered a black hole and bam! she found herself in another universe, and quickly bonded with the Guardians of the Galaxy. Eventually, it was determined that the Guardians couldn’t help her return to her home world - or universe - so she bid them goodbye and sought out the Avengers.

Y/N was the reason they had met. The reason that they knew of each other's universes. Now, seeing as her birthday was rapidly approaching, she was the reason they were coming together once more. Each superhero had their own connection with Y/N and adored her. Batman and Captain America were like father figures while Black Widow, Mera, and Wonder Woman were her mother figures, Furthermore, Aquaman and Thor were her mentors, Starlord, Iron Man, and Superman were like her big brothers, Gamora and Scarlet Witch were like her sisters, and Falcon, Rocket, Groot, Hawkeye, and Drax were her best friends.

There was someone else who fit into Y/N’s life in an entirely different way, though. That was the Hulk, aka Bruce Banner, who Y/N had a growing crush on. Coincidentally, his role in their birthday surprise was to be the distractor. He’d take Y/N out and about, staying as far away as possible from the Avengers Tower, while the other superheroes set up.

As expected, the planning hardly went smoothly.

Tony and Barry got into another confrontation, this time over Y/N’s choice of music (which went on until Mera and Wanda butted in with the music Y/N actually enjoyed), Arthur began to get on Natasha’s last nerves, and Rocket almost started eating her cake . . . and that was only a bit of what happened in the first half of the day.

Meanwhile, Bruce kept Y/N occupied. He took her out to her favorite breakfast place and breakfast was on him and then they filled the day at a carnival park. Bruce happily accompanied her on all the rides she wanted to go on (despite almost Hulking out multiple times) and even won Y/N some stuffed animals by throwing rings. He even got her lots and lots of cotton candy and then let her ride on his back when she got a stomach ache. All in all, though, it was a fun time. So fun that Bruce almost forgot that they had a party to get to!

Which is exactly why he frantically texted the groupchat that they were on their way and had to practically drag Y/N away from wanting to go on the ferris wheel for the third time. When confronted with questions, the lie that there was an emergency mission slipped off the brunette’s tongue -- probably not the smartest lie because Y/N had declared weeks before that if there were any missions on the week of her birthday, she wasn’t going -- but it worked long enough to keep her distracted, even if she was too busy with pouting and grumbling.

As they got closer and closer, Bruce could barely contain his excitement. Not only had he had a fantastic game, he was about to spend the night partying with the woman he had a crush on and celebrating her birthday. Who knows - maybe he’d even ask her out?!

When they got there, Y/N was ready to march inside and suit up, but Bruce tugging on her arm made her stop. Ignoring her endless questions and cries of frustration, he took his time leading her through the tower and into the backyard so the superheroes would have time to hide. Bruce let Y/N go before him and the moment she opened the doors, everyone jumped out wearing party hats and yelled: “SURPRISE!”

To say she was surprised would be a total understatement. In fact, she was so surprised that she stumbled back, directly into the scientist, and with his quick reflexes he steadied her and lightly nudged her forward and out of her shocked state. She had let out the biggest gasp that any of them had ever heard, her eyes went wide, and her hands flew over her mouth.

Slowly, she walked forward, overwhelmed by the sight before her. Not only were all her teammates - her friends, even family - together, but the place looked amazing. There were streamers, a big sign saying HAPPY BIRTHDAY, balloons, even a fake throne that Tony and Bruce had constructed earlier that week!

“Oh-oh my god, you guys . . . Thank you! Thank you, thank you, thank you!” She cried out, jumping up and down.

Everyone smiled. “Of course, sweetheart,” Arthur said.

“Go sit on your throne - presents are up first!” Tony added.

Y/N immediately ran and jumped onto the big throne.

“Aren’t presents supposed to be last or something?” Clint muttered to Steve as they walked over.

“Yeah, but Tony keeps boasting on how good his present is,” Steve replied.

Everyone mingled on over there and Tony presented his birthday present, which was definitely over-wrapped, first. After the squeals she emitted, the others were next. Everyone had gotten her their own birthday present, but Arthur and Mera went over the top when they joined together with their powers to make Y/N something super special.

Afterwards, they spent the rest of the time absolutely PARTYING! They had a dance contest which JARVIS was the judge of and Y/N won, but the next round Y/N co-judged with JARVIS and they determined that Rocket and Barry were tied for first place, Peter and Clint tied for second place, and Bruce got third place. Then, they moved onto playing games (Y/N and Bruce teamed up and they CRUSHED everyone else, because they already had experience working together at the carnival that day) and finally, it was time for cake. Y/N got the biggest piece and, of course, Rocket and Arthur fought over the cake (Groot smacked them).

They partied until the sun came up, where everyone either fell asleep or had someone fall asleep on them. In the morning, everyone awoke, only to see Y/N still asleep, her head resting on Bruce’s shoulder and a blanket wrapped around them both. It was the most adorable sight they had ever witnessed and Bruce carried her to bed while Natasha took her shoes off. The superheroes left her to sleep in and she came downstairs a couple hours later, a breakfast full of waffles, pancakes, anything you could imagine waiting for her.

Let's just chop this whole thing down and look at it closely shall we? Good! 1: You mocked an artist who pretty much ignored you for at least a few years or so, calling them all sorts of ghastly names that shouldn't be uttered by a child of your age. You accused them of all sorts of nonsense, and you even were racist towards them. 2: A few much kinder users came along to her defense and outed one of your own friends for stealing art which they DID indeed do. DA doesn't just ban users willy nilly or half the population of DA would be gone by now! 3: You literally attacked them with false claims, bypassed blocks, and even did callouts DEMANDING your friends attack them or you'd turn on your own comrades if they didn't. This earned you a big fat ban of course; but oh you kept at it didn't you? Kept coming back like the stubborn lil roach you are. But DA would not have it so they banned you; along with those you talked through.

4: You continue this little fruitless endeavor on Twitter; oh but here is the thing, Twitter is not so laid back as DA SO they kicked you as well! 5: You then made a silly page that mocked this hard working page, and even went so far as to claim it was not yours when the mod of said page acts and types the same was as yourself. We also know you are trying to remake the page..which is against Tumblr rules my dear so..it's going to be vanishing yet again. So, with analyzing this all carefully, I've come to the conclusion that YOU Ayumi/XxSireena65xX are the one to blame. You are the one in the wrong. Otherwise your enemies would be going down in flames as well; BUT they are not because this: They follow the rules, they are not doing anything of the sort that is bypassing blocks or bans like you yourself did. I feel so stupid but I am really crying since days over a damn ship. I am telling myself damn Giovanna (Yepp that’s my real name) get your shit together, you are 39, ass grown woman being abused for years, grew beyond that and became stronger than ever and still I am crying over a damn ship.

I have been a shipper before (Yepp guilty). I shipped the so called toxic relationships like chuck and Blair, I shipped incest like jonerys, I shipped complicated like Katniss and peta but none of them so intense like reylo. I invested so much time in this ship. I was reading metas for hours. I was listening to every podcast I could find. I am posting my shit on twitter and tumblr. I spent so much time with it my hubby felt betrayed lol. And now that they are canon I still am crying over their tragic end.

I love Star Wars with all my heart. It’s more than just a ship for me. I love the mythology, the romance, the friendships, the conflicts, the politics, and the lightsaber duels.

Even though I grew up with the originals which I adore it was the prequels who have found a special place in my heart. And the reason is this scene. The way he looked at her is amazing. Anidala wasn’t my first ship but it was the one who had a certain complexity the ships from the 80s or 90s barley had. It was complicated and I loved it.

And since then I Love complicated. I always look for the complicated. Obvious endgames still though.

And now I have reached another level. Reylo is the Ultimate couple for me. It’s complicated, it’s complex, it’s epic, enemies to lovers, will they won’t they, sexy as hell, it’s deep, it’s beyond anything explainable. They threw basically everything possible at us. It couldn’t have been more frustrating and yet more joyable for us. It’ll probably become one of the most epic lovestories since Romeo and Juliet, Tristan and Isolde, Elizabeth and Darcy..... and that is exactly the reason why it hurts so much. Rey and Ben individually have these beautiful, interesting and tragic arcs which makes their pairing even more than it is already. It’s a lot to unfold. It’s a lot to take as a fan. It’s exhausting. It’s time consuming. It’s frustrating. and that is why we deserved a Happy End. And that is also why I cry over a ship. It’s like you are climbing a mountain only to find out you will never make it to the top. It’s like you finally get the boy only to find out he doesn’t like you as much as you do. It’s like giving everything you can in your job only to get fired from it. It’s like hinting it only to find out we were a bait. we deserved better.

And now since I got it off my chest here is what I think happened in TROS. Ben is still out there. How? I don’t know but he is and Rey knows it. That is why she is not mourning. Anything else is not acceptable bc I don’t like the fact they screwed her character over. And I refuse to accept she ends up alone in a fucking dessert. They are married. He offered his hand (proposal) many times and she took it after all, while they were dressed in black and white like a groom and a bride. And that is why she cannot be with anyone else but herself and her new yellow/golden lightsaber. How could she ever live a normal life? She can’t. She lost her other half and as long as she does she puts herself into exile until he comes back to her. She is waiting for him. I still hate their ending I do but I have to start changing my perspective and enjoy the fact that we made it. That we are canon. That they are married forever. That they made each other smile.

drk how to elaborate on that, aside from stressing that from her teen years onward she’s presented her own take of a rich bitch, and is a socialite/fashion week regular type if i were to describe where she stands rn

i think a good mix of references would be nicky hilton meets the delevingne sisters meets blair waldorf and sabrina pemberton’s lovechild

she attended an ivy league at the behest of her father so he had at least one child who could take a senior position in his company simply to keep it in the family

.. before he realized what a Mistake™ it would be to put that responsibility on xan and now has her slightly older cousin as a backup instead GDSLFJKS but nonetheless !

isn’t the most studious person, but she somehow wound up graduating with a major in communications and a marketing minor

she reasoned that, with her reputation in the gta and nyc, she’d need the bit of knowledge in how to clean up her messes. even if she wasn’t the one who had that responsibility

though.. the entire time has been spent sleeping with some of her rich friends, drinking and smoking pot, with the occasional hit of whatever clean enough drug that one of her friends had on them

as of now, she’s pissing off her neighbours with her house parties wherever she might be at a given time, staying in the good graces of the media as a budding, fun yet classy heiress — despite doing dumb shit the second she’s inside of a gala or club

which happens to mean that her family is to be protected as well. fuck with any of her sisters ?? you’re done ! try to call out one of her brothers on twitter ? she’ll quote it with a single clown emoji as a warning

there really isn’t much to expand on tbh, though i will say that her emboldened nature and need for a good time however she can get it comes out more than her uglier side ( except her vanity. that’ll never go away ksfdg )

some quick plot ideas

a childhood friend or two that she made in either of her main hubs or through events she attended when she was young, whether they’re still friends or not for x reasons can be discussed of course

could carry over into a trio type of thing depending on where she stands with either of them, or they’re a different couple of pals she’s made in the last few years

enemies are always fun ! probably rooted in a competitive streak more than anything else but i’m all ears for a more complex reason

ex-hookup(s), current hookup(s), throw it all at me klgfjd

a hateship/ewb would be fun with her too, oh my god sfdgklj

it should go without saying that they are all relatively wealthy or well-connected kids here, but that doesn’t mean that someone who’s using her for their fifteen seconds of fame, or just to get some perks out of their friendship, is necessarily a write-off — not that she cares too much about fake friends, face value hype and knowing they need her more than she needs them gives her too much satisfaction fkskgls

an ex-something, open to anyone. either someone her parents forced on her to straighten her out that she wound up liking…. after a good period of her telling them to fuck off sdglk or someone she’d been seeing for a while at her own accord. would’ve ended the same way: with her calling it off because she didn’t want to settle down, not even for a relationship ( and perhaps bc she’s scared of commitment with her cracked family dynamic that’s been a thing since age two, but that’s another story jsdfkg )

an interview with @ravenreyes-0g (she/hers)

what are you working on right now? I'm working on both my Bellarke fic for BLM and a personal fantasy story that I've written and rewritten from the beginning to about 5000000 times because my ideas keep changing. My Bellarke fic is a modern day COVID AU that is also the longest I've ever done so it's been taking a minute to finish! :)

what’s something you’d like to write one day? A YA either historical fiction or realistic fiction LGBTQ+ romance. I have a ton of ideas for plots, but I haven’t quite gotten the chance to sit down and try to plot them out. For historical fiction, I’m very interested in the 1900-1950s era, especially the Roaring 20s and WWI/II so I’d most likely set it there! I’m all in for the angsty romance, but I'd definitely want to end it on a happy note (unlike my current fantasy work) and I’m really looking forward to getting the chance to write a character driven story that doesn’t focus so much on heavy plot elements - something I can’t do as much in a fantasy setting!

what is the fanwork you’re most proud of? This one is actually pretty hard considering how my writing style has developed since I started writing fanfics. But if I had to choose, I’d probably say my FirstPrince (Alex/Henry from Red, White, and Royal Blue) fic on Ao3 called To Love Another Is to Cherish Life Itself. The title is a bit dramatic but basically it is an angsty/fluffy one-shot that I wrote really late one night and did minimal edits to before posting. It definitely feels like the most in character and honest fic I’ve ever done, and it broke my heart to write about some of the darker stuff, but in the end I’m pretty proud of it!

why did you first start writing fic? Well, I’ve been writing fanfics since I was probably 10 or 11 years old (I had PJO phase that spanned close to a decade and I’m still not totally over it 😂) but I started publishing work on Wattpad literally the night I turned 13. That was actually my first Bellarke/the 100 fic! It started out as my predictions for season 5 and then evolved into a fix-it fic for everything I didn’t like about the season. I’ve abandoned it for almost two years, but I’m slowly coming back to it so...slow updates y’all :)

what frustrates you most about fic writing? Everything! Just kidding - I love fic writing! But if I had to choose, probably two main things tho. 1) Creating a plot for a long term fic - I’m sooooo bad at it because I always feel like I’m writing too much in line with the actual show/book/movie and it feels like copying. 2) Making sure that I stay honest to the character I’m writing about. I have a huge tendency to write my fics (ESPECIALLY my one-shots) from the POV of the character who was not the main character in the original thing (like my POV for my RWRB fic is Henry, the love interest of Alex/other main character). This means that the only look inside their head that we’ve gotten has been through the eyes of the main character - which can obviously be biased. I try to stay as honest as I can to my interpretation of the character drawn directly from the text - but sometimes that means that I can’t include scenes that I want to because it feels off/out of character and that’s always disappointing. (also dialogue is just...something I really need to work on)

what are your top five songs right now? Ahhh see it changes on my day/mood but right now it’s probably

what are your inspirations? Ahhh - there are many. First and foremost, The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak. It’s my favorite book for so many reasons, but it teaches me so much about writing and character development. Also Liesel and Rudy melt my heart every time. I also love all the songs listed above for inspiration, and I listen to I Get To Love You by Ruelle (it’s the Malec wedding song for any Shadowhuners fans out there!) whenever I write a really emotionally intense romantic scene. If you’re looking for amazing fic recs, I highly recommend all of HMS-Chill’s works (multi fandoms), clarkesbell, and DracoWillHearAboutThis on Ao3. Though not all of them write Bellarke/the 100, if you are in any of their fic fandoms, I highly recommend checking them out because they are fantastic writers!

what first attracted you to Bellarke? what attracts you now? Honestly? #1 - their development. I love enemies to lovers with my whole heart, but I honestly didn’t see Bellarke as romantic until the 2x05 hug where I was just hit with a wave of OMG THEY BELONG TOGETHER!!! Seriously, though, the fact that they go from enemies, to grudging allies, to co-leaders, to partners, to friends, to best friends, to soulmates just makes my heart go !!!! - Also they have insane chemistry, and that certainly doesn’t hurt. What attracts me to them now is much the same, but also how much they care about each other. They’d go to the ends of the earth to save one another, and it just blows me away how powerful their screen time is, even when their scenes together have become so rare. I also don’t thinkI’m ever getting over 6x10. I swear my heart actually stopped beating when I watched it live the first time.

BESIDES Bellarke, what character or pairing do you like best on t100? Ha! Umm, I actually really like Murven, both platonically and romantically. Their journey might not be as well developed as Bellarke’s but it is still a powerful one hinging on love and forgiveness. I love how Lindsey/Richard play off of each other on screen - it’s such a joy to watch! I’ve also loved the Octavia/Indra dynamic, but it’s kinda been tabled in recent seasons which is sad :(

why did you decide to start writing for bellarkefic-for-blm? Two reasons - 1) I wanted to do everything I could for BLM and it was so amazing that I could do that, and write works for my favorite show! 2) I was super curious about the prompts people would send in. My work right now is a modern day AU COVID fic where Bellamy and Clarke have to share a room together in an overcrowded hospital until one day Clarke disappears. It’s so different than what I usually write - bc I almost always write canon compliant/in universe fics - so it’s a nice challenge!

what’s your writing process like? Honestly it depends. For long/multi-chapter fics I try to plan out as much of it as I can, characters, plot, important moments, etc - even though I am not very good at planning. But for one-shots I tend to go off of emotion or feelings. Usually when I write one-shots, it’s because a particular line or moment in a book/movie/show really spoke out to me, and spurred this idea in my head. I always start with the line I want to get to at the heart of the fic and then write around it from there. I am definitely much more of a panster than a planner- which is why one-shots work much better for me!

what are some things you’d like to recommend? 1. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. Also, All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven, The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee, Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo, Red White and Royal Blue by Casey McQuinston, The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller, Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz. 2. Musicals! They can be amazing inspiration - my favorites are Les Mis, Hamilton, Dear Evan Hansen, Six, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, Hadestown, Anastasia, Island Song, Newsies, & Tuck Everlasting! 3. TV Shows besides The 100 - Anne with an E, Shadowhunters (just pretend you haven’t read the books), French SKAM, Love Victor, HSMTMTS, Merlin, Lucifer, I think I’m just listing fandoms at this point 😂

Also, almost any Taylor Swift, Troye Sivan, Conan Gray, Dua Lipa, Emma Blackery or Harry Styles songs are amazing!

Forgive me if anyone has already asked this, but can you explain what BA Test Kitchen is, exactly, and what platform it's on? It looks so fun but I can't figure out if it's a tv show or a short clip show or if it's fictional or reality TV... I just want the low-down 😉

Okay! No, no one has asked me and I am so glad you did!

BA Test Kitchen is a YouTube channel featuring the food editors/writers of Bon Appetit. It’s non-fiction! Think of it as a dash of instructional cooking videos, a whole lotta chaos and hilarity, and a gigantic heaping pile of personality.

(If you want instructional, how-to videos to actually learn how to cook something, stick to the From The Test Kitchen videos).

In a world that’s pretty shitty rn (seriously, the news....Yikes), BA is like a shining beacon of wholesome delight. Everyone is having a good time, even when they’re stressed and panicking. It’s 100% worth your time and effort, even if you’re not super into food media. Just watch for the personalities because you will inevitably identify with some or all of them and cling to them like a baby bird.

The main editors you are probably seeing around Tumblr are:

Claire Saffitz: Light of my life, actual pastry queen, baking universe opens and bows before her. She’s beautiful and smart and talented and we stan (plz, DM me so we can just talk and swoon about her). Her show is Gourmet Makes, which is an 11-48 minute video (depending on the topic) wherein Claire tries to replicate and/or gourmet-ify junk food. She has a cookbook coming out in Fall 2020. That’s not super relevant to the YouTube videos, I’m just really excited. Claire also has a Baking School series (which only has 1 season rn, but fingers crossed for s2 soon!) This series is great if you want to learn about baking and the science of baking (gluten development!).

Brad Leone: Probably an actual Golden Retriever trapped in a human’s body, severe ADHD, biggest heart (and hands) in the biz. His show is It’s Alive/It’s Alive: Going Places. His shows focus on foods and drinks and condiments that are fermented or use cultures. The editing on this show is superb and half the fun, the other half being Brad. Just....just Brad. He’s pretty indescribable, so just check him out. In the words of Claire, Brad cares about everyone’s emotional state and is just the best.

Carla Lalli Music: Actual mom of the kitchen, totally cool, and silly. Her Twitter is pure gold. Her show is Back-to-Back Chef where different celebrities cook back-to-back with her and try and recreate a dish by just following her instructions. She’s a total spitfire and I love her and wish she was my mom (except not really bc i love my mom, sorry Carla). Also has a cookbook out now!!

Chris Morocco: Supertaster, everyone wants Chris’ approval, knows what he’s about, always has a pencil, spoon, and timer at the ready. V prepared. His show is semi-new and is called...well idk if it has an official name but “Chef Recreates” is what I’m going with. He basically recreates complicated, intricate dishes using only what he can taste, smell, and feel. He’s a legit supertaster so it’s pretty awesome. Chris is like the coolest guy in the kitchen, v laidback and chill and knowledgable. Always smells his food first.

Other notable editors who pop in and out of the kitchen but who don’t have like their own ~show and just guest on the above or do From the Test Kitchen vids (videos with actual recipes):

Gaby Melian: test kitchen manager!!! actual ball of bouncing energy!! she took over for Brad as the TK manager and now rules the kitchen with a smile and an iron fist. always available for tastings and hugs (for claire only).

Molly Baz: actual sunshine. Molly seems to be the pasta queen for some reason. But she’s adorable and fun and shortens her words and loves caesar salad with a passion. Seriously, she got shoes with “cae sal” on them.

Alex Delany: actually does have a show but it’s like an ‘on the street’ kinda show where he chows down and eats the menu at local NY spots. is the faux enemy of brad (delany!!!). He’s probably a labradoodle trapped in a human body. His instagram game is v strong and his social life exhausts me. if you’re extroverted and love cocktails/wine/beer, this is your man.

Christina Chaey: christina is lowkey new-ish to the vid scene but i love her. she’s very blunt and i could watch her twix commercial reenactment all day. 10/10 bike tan line, too.

Rick Martinez: another pastry god! i love rick’s baking vids (especially his blackout cake which i just made this past weekend and it was PERFECT) #InRickWeTrust. He ALSO has amazing nails (mostly electric blue nail polish) and has never met a shirt button that he liked.

Andy Baraghani: pretty good at making sure the BATK doesn’t get too.......white. lotta the spiced up, interesting (usually mediterranean) recipes come from andy. he’s kinda the self-identified queen and bitch of the kitchen. i think he calls himself satan at one point. but he’s got fans!

I know I’m missing people, but those are the biggies! There’s another great series, Making Perfect, where all of the main editors come together to make a perfect dish (so far there’s Pizza and Thanksgiving).

These are all real people who all just have amazing chemistry with each other! They’re clearly (mostly) all friends who have worked together a long time. They’re sometimes harsh and hard on each other, but ultimately are all working to ensure the best possible outcome can be achieved.

There IS a fandom out there for them here on Tumblr and on Twitter, so snoop around, watch some videos, find your fave editors and go make friends and join the BATK Fandom!

Metal Heart [TEXT VER.]

So, this was an AU that I had posted on my Twitter because I hadn’t known how to format it coherently on Tumblr. But it’s here now!

This AU was inspired when I listened to This Audio after having gone through an Astro Boy phase. I left it unfinished, but I’m pretty sure I’m going to write the story out, so you’ll find out the ending and the Ladrien plot later.

OKAY so https://maximilian-alexander.tumblr.com/post/181533777041/bassiter-something-about-us-by-daft-punk-except … this song inspired me to think up a Robot post apocalyptic AU with Marinette working in her little workshop and Chat Noir being the robot she created. A Ladrien ver. happens in the far future, after Mari grows old and dies blah blah blah

Mari makes a Chat Noir robot, but he doesn't have a built in suit or anything like that he just nakey lmao bc I want him to wear street clothes. Mari's in a post-apocalyptic world where machines have taken over and pretty much EVERYTHING is littered with trash and scrap metal.

She's lonely af and hey, turns out she's a genius with technology. (I also wanna point out this is partially inspired by Astro Boy.) She listens to that song while working on creating Chat Noir, stealthily hiding away from the outside world filled with murderous anti-human robots

Her attempt at making Chat Noir is a HUGE success, and she pretty much bawls tears of joy when he wakes up and looks around like an actual human being. He's not really a newborn, she programmed him with a healthy amount of maturity and worldly knowledge.

Chat Noir is very protective almost immediately. He's a robot in a 15 yo boy's body looking at this tiny 13 yo, lonely robotics prodigy, in a world where his kind would typically murder her at first glance. He doesn't understand it. He has human emotions. Mari's so nice.

Frankly, after two years of spending time with Marinette, he doesn't WANT to understand the other robots. He doesn't care. He thinks they're filthy and dumb. Mari's a gift, and if any of them come so much as a 50 foot radius near her he'll take his steel claws and SHRED THEM.

After those first two years of spending time together, Marinette's food supply runs short. She won't be able to make it another year with what they have. She'll be lucky if she'll make it for another month. Chat Noir runs on sunlight. He'll be fine. But... She won't.

Marinette is ready to accept her fate. She's happy her last two years on earth had been filled with childish duets, silly dancing, games, etc... She's glad she spent them with Chat Noir. He, on the other hand, is devastated. He doesn't want to be alone. He CAN'T be without her.

He starts going out frequently, scavenging for food he can find her. He rations out her food to make it last longer, even though she tells him it'll be useless. He's going mad— all the abandoned food marts etc have already been ransacked by other survivors. There's NOTHING.

He goes out farther. He travels into the danger zone, littered with machines and dead bodies. One machine catches sight of him, identifies his human-like body, and nearly destroys him. He comes back to Marinette with half the skin on his face melted off, showing the metal parts.

Despite how absolutely horrified Mari was of that incident, he keeps going out, farther and farther, destroying enemies along the way. He eventually takes out all the robots in the danger zone and is able to move past it— and he finally finds it. He finds what he's looking for.

Seeds. Plants. Soil, too. And unraided markets filled with canned foods. He stuffs as much as he can into a duffel bag he found laying around and comes back home. Marinette is surprised, and touched. She remembers back to when she used to garden with her mother. She teaches him.

Soon they have thriving plants with tomatoes, strawberries, etc. Soon they have a couple of fruit trees growing outside. Chat Noir is ecstatic. Marinette is happy, too, but she doesn't know how to tell him that this can't last. That eventually, she will die.

Be it starvation, dehydration, disease, or even being discovered by one of the machines outside, she will die. She won't make it to old age. She lets him have this moment, though.

She builds a new body for him a year later, this one a couple years older, about 17-18 years old. He loves it, he loves the fact that he'll /technically/ be able to grow with Marinette. She transfers his memories into the new body, and he takes a while trying to get used to it.

More years pass by, Chat Noir upgrades to another body, and things are comfortable. They still listen to that song Marinette was listening to when she first made him. It's her favourite. It's his favourite too, but mostly because it's hers.

Chat Noir starts finding other forms of entertainment, because Marinette is busy working on his next body and he already went on a raid for more nonperishable food. He finds an abandoned library and falls in love with science journals and, most importantly, romance novels.

His typical experience with humanity is almost solely based on Marinette. He had thought that, possibly, they were all the same. That they all were kind and fun and wonderful. Reading helped him realise that his initial presumption was mistaken.

People could be cruel. People had different quirks, and personalities, and different ways of going about certain situations. People even loved differently. There's platonic love, sibling love, parental love, and romantic love. He finds himself very interested in romantic love.

He wasn't all-knowledgable. He wasn't programmed with everything, only with the capacity to learn whatever he wished. He already knew about cuddling and hugs, at least— Marinette had mentioned that she had gone YEARS without being affectionately touched before she had made him.

Kissing was new, though. Holding hands was also new, they certainly never did that unless one of them was trying to drag the other somewhere. Sex was new, and very strange, but the way it's described in romance novels in comparison to health books made it sound intriguing.

It sounded intimate. He's surprised that there's ways to be even closer to someone than he already is with Marinette. He wonders if she'd be interested in a romantic relationship, although considering he was never programmed to know about it, he doubts it. He wishes, though.

Kissing, at least, he knew could be platonic. Pecks on the cheek, or on the forehead. He wants to do anything he could to get even closer to Marinette, to discover things about her that he didn't already know. The first time he kisses her cheek, she's surprised, but happy.

Kissing becomes a regular thing. Chat does it more and more frequently as days go by. Marinette has no idea where he learned it from, but she isn't complaining. A part of her is really happy that he chooses to do it, even though he isn't programmed to.

At some point Chat Noir is almost painfully aware that his feelings for Marinette are not at all platonic. He constantly wants to hold her, to sing to her, to cuddle her and kiss her and he fantasizes the image of her lips on his own. He's absolutely in love with her.

He has no idea what to do about it. He reads even more romance novels in hopes of some advice on how to win her heart. He makes the mistake of reading a shoujo manga. He comes back home and starts flirting with corny jokes and a fake rose and Marinette is dying of laughter

Chat Noir mopes for a long while after that attempt because he tried really hard to win her heart he DID okay, it's not his fault that Marinette obviously does not appreciate the fine art of humour and flirting

She slowly eases him out of his little self pity party by bribing him with video games. She absolutely decimates him in those games but he has to admit that he loves playing with her, especially when they work together on hard mode to defeat the computer AI.

He makes another attempt much later after reading a well-written romance novel. This one details a romantic dinner with a candle-lit atmosphere under the moonlight. He loves the idea, so he gathers up candles and fake flowers and a tablecloth. He finds two unbroken wine glasses.

He looks for a safe place on the surface where he'd be able to spot any danger at night. Marinette rarely ever ventures out in fear of being killed by a wandering machine. He doesn't want her to be scared on his romantic dinner date, so he needs to find the perfect spot.

He finds a place, a little far off but perfect. In the books he's read, it's called the Eiffel Tower. There's an apartment at the very top, and from the looks of it, it's been long abandoned. It used to be in the center of the danger zone, but Chat took care of that years ago.

It's safe and has a magnificent view. Mari would love it. He sets everything up, and even manages to find a bottle of aged wine in the luxury apartment. He also finds some music that he's never heard before, something by some guy named Jagged Stone. The ballad's his favourite.

He comes back home with a really wide grin and Marinette is super suspicious the entire time. He says that he's setting up a surprise for her and she's going to love it. She's wondering if he's read another shitty shoujo manga again and is a bit nervous.

Aaaand this is where I left off. That’s the end, folks! Sorry.

I still remember how this AU ends, which later becomes the beginning of the Ladrien version of this AU. It’s sad, but a happy kind of sad, if that makes sense? Spoiler alert— Both Chat Noir and Marinette live long, happy lives together.

Anyways, for once, I feel like this is an AU I don’t want anyone using without my input. I’ll always be in love with this AU, and I may very well write for it in the future. In fact, I have a clear vision on how I’d write both the Marichat version and the Ladrien version at the same time. It involves Adrien sobbing. Hehehe.

If you guys want the general outline on how everything turns up, and how the Ladrien spinoff fits in, just ask and I’ll make a separate post about it. I remember crying when I was daydreaming about it the first time I thought of it. It may be a tearjerker for some.

Hello, everyone! I feel the need to explain my lengthy absence bc it’s been a rough month or so of shite so

The biggest thing: my pup, Lando, lunged at a kid (didn’t bite her bc I’m strong and have good reflexes) whilst on vacation and decided everyone was an enemy minus me. So we’ve got serious work to do. A lot of poor communication on my end with him, making it confusing as to what’s acceptable and not. I don’t work with aggressives and haven’t yet been taught how to handle them, so I was just stunned by the shift in him and didn’t know what else to do other than muzzle him (of course) and keep him away from people. I cut my vacation several days short to come home and drop him off before returning.

He’s not a mean dog, just fearful, and he felt compelled to protect us both and my body language did not help the matter. But now we know how to address this and we’re taking the steps toward a better outcome in the future.

He’s not a mean dog at all, just uncertain, but this level of fear means he will absolutely bite a person if permitted and that’s NOT something I want.

So most of this past month has been me aggressively assessing and partly avoiding the situation until I got help from my old trainer mentor (who deals with aggressives) and, basically, my dog adores me so much that a simple enough correction is really all he’s gonna need to knock his shit off. So we’re ironing out some stuff and if I need to do some group classes at a balanced facility then I’m absolutely going to.

My dad’s doing fine btw. The vacation was a HUGE family and family friend get together for my dad out where his family lives so it was fun and a little sad but mostly awesome.

Another thing: Uni’s back on twitter (as well as Vas and occasionally Keir). Bc I still needed an outlet for him desperately and tumblr was a bit too much for me (and also I don’t know what I owe, if anything, over here tbh. And it’s just overall a “down season” for us where we just don’t have shit all to do lmfao). So if anyone wants that info you’re welcome to ask for it, though I know most people here don’t RP there. Hell, you can even follow him on your personals if you want idc.

Out of curiosity why did you stop writing percabeth?

I think it was easier for me to stop writing percabeth fic too bc 1) a lot of my friends in the fandom stopped being on tumblr as much; not all of my friends, just a lot of them!! and 2) I got a lot busier finishing my degree so it was easy to side step percabeth and move on to stuff that was new and fun!!

Maybe another reason was because I stopped reading percabeth fic. I only read a few fics (there’s like one or two I still follow now!) so I stopped interacting with the other fics and kinda just ran out of stuff to say I guess

And I’m gonna be straight up with you, bro: I got really good at writing percabeth. Like, good enough that it was just a formula for me by the time I was writing my new stuff. I kept having to come up with wild things to write (see werewolf au, zombie apocalypse, etc.) just to keep myself interested bc the easy canon enemies to lovers trope (while still amazing and classic and v v v close to my heart) just got hella BORING. It was a big thing for me when I started posting my very first fics bc I got to read all this feedback of people liking it and reading it all the time and the posts getting popular and whatever, but as time passed, I stopped wondering if people would like what I posted because I just knew they would, you know? I guess that sounds super arrogant of me, but it’s honestly pretty true. Once I didn’t feel like I was being challenged by what I was writing, I took a step back and went huh, this isn’t that fun anymore.

So yeah, without the heavy fandom interaction, the close friends I had, and then just life + not feeling all that challenged by it, I just side stepped percabeth. Don’t get me wrong, I love percabeth as much as the next OG percy jackson blogger here on tumblr, but at some point FOR ME AND BY ME, all of the fics have been written, all of the posts have been made, and all of the meta enjoyed and considered. (Plus, the way Riordan behaves on social media, especially twitter, really just irritates me 10000000% of the time).

This isn’t to say that I won’t write anymore percabeth ever!! Who knows what’ll happen in the future. For now though, I’m super super into klance! I’ve got some stuff on my AO3 already for them, and I’m working on a pacific rim au that I’m excited to share when I finish it.

God, people can be so hateful. I did the HUGE mistake on going on twitter the other day (during con, basically), and i was disgusted. Like, i KNOW that some bellarke shippers are trash, but not ALL of us are like that. I got so MAD when i read that clx shippers (same thing for them, not all of them are trash) think that we watch the show just for canon b/c and talk shit about the actors for giving us “fake hope”. BUT didn’t they try to cancel the show after lxa died OR just stop watching the (1

show after that?(Kind of since they’re still being annoying on social media). e.g., i didn’t like clxa but not for that i went psycho and tried to sabotage the show. I love the cast, the show, beliza (bc seeing that they are bff just melts my heart)and bellarke, but i will stay even if my fav ship don’t become canon bc this show is so good and original. (I’m obsessed with it basically). (2

Well CLs have no right to criticize BC when BC act like CLs. The Blorkes are EXACTLY like the CLs with less actual cause, because Bellarke is actually canon and happening, and CL actually died. Do you still have hope? We still breathing. We’re literally still breathing and Bellarke is actively happening and they don’t even NOTICE? What TERRIBLE shippers they are. They must not actually ship Bellarke or be fans of The 100 AT ALL. That’s why I call them Blorkes now, because they aren’t shipping Bellarke at all, or they’d see how much canon bellarke we got in season 5.

The Blorke Antis are infuriating. And they deserve to be criticized. But they aren’t fans of Bellarke in canon, only in their fanon. Which is the same for many CLs, who made up their own Lxa Show, only slightly related to the story on screen, and then were devastated when The 100 didn’t follow The Lxa Show. I don’t interact with CLs and haven’t since season 3, and it’s better that way. And now I don’t interact with Blorkes since season 5, and I’m finding it better that way, too.

The truth is, fandom is vulnerable to people becoming antagonistic, cruel, cliquish, vicious, self centered, over entitled, and harassing. This is part of fandom culture. And it doesn’t matter WHAT you ship, you have to be careful that you yourself are not doing it. Because when people come at you and call you horrible names for talking about something you love, something that hurts you, or something you don’t like, the you get defensive and start attacking back.

This is one of the reasons I am so against the anti/stan mentality. Because it sets us up as enemies inherently, and equates not liking something or someone with that thing or person or character being EVIL, bad or whatever designation they’ve assigned it as impure.

Shipping is a way to engage with a story, and it’s awesome! But it is not the only way to engage and it is not the most important way. But fandom tries to force their ships and faves and headcanons down the throats of the rest of the fandom. They don’t seem to be able to STAND when someone just enjoys something, if it’s not what they enjoy, so they try to ruin the joy.

to tell the truth, if you think i’m this full of sunshine and radiate positivity then i’m doing a good job keeping my anger in check, because I am full of rage and bitterness towards fandom in general, the 100 fandom in particular, and the blorkes personally. Like, personally. I know who you all are, and I’ve been talking to you for 3 years, and THIS is what you come up with? I am DEEPLY disappointed in the blorke ignorance, cruelty, self centeredness, and entitlement. Disgusted.

And the wisest thing is to stay away entirely from fandom twitter. and tumblr tags aren’t much better. Create your internet bubble. Cull your connections. Unfollow, block, mute, filter as needed.

Having nothing to do with the anti fandoms is the best way to enjoy the show and ship you love.

Maybe it's bc I'm from a country whose gov wiretapped innocent people they saw as their enemies but I can't believe people PAY MONEY to get spied on so they what? Don't have to press a button?! I'm not angry or anything just absolutely baffled at how many people ACTIVELY choose this dystopian nightmare shit. Things are bad enough already so I just wonder how both those things (anger about fb&owning alexa) fit together. Not attacking you, just genuinely wondering about the thought process (1/2)

Valid question! Here’s my thought process:

First, the Facebook thing is actually less about the collection and sale of my data than...a really, really long tortured relationship with Facebook that needs to end now. Not that I agree with the collection and sale of my data! Because I don’t! But you should know my long history, because I think it explains my thought process.

I registered for Facebook early, when you still had to have an edu email address. I thought I had it locked down, private, friends-only. Then, a few years later, my boss walks into my office and closes my door and gives me a talking-to about “inappropriate Facebook posts.” To be clear, I was never a person, like, posting topless photos on Facebook or something, nor was I complaining about my boss really. It was more like, “Ugh, I have to work all weekend, sorry I can’t go to this party!” And she was like, “THAT IS PRIVILEGED INFORMATION THAT YOU WORKED ALL WEEKEND.” And I was like, ...how are you even seeing my Facebook, you’re not my friend? So (a) I was spooked, because when your boss yells at you because of Facebook, it’s terrifying, and (b) I was completely bewildered that she could even see my Facebook. Upon investigation, it turned out that at the time (and this was a decade ago), if you put down where you work, EVERYONE who also put that place down could see your Facebook, even if they weren’t your friend and your Facebook was friends-only. (I think Facebook has changed that policy now.)

So, terrified, I deleted my Facebook. But this was back when not having a Facebook caused this whole public outcry thing and my friends freaked out and so I gave in and re-started a Facebook, posting very little because I was terrified. But I still used it. Until I got depressed and started therapy. My therapist told me to keep a stress journal, where I wrote down whenever I felt a spike of stress, and going on Facebook consistently showed up in the journal as a source of stress. So, upon my therapist’s suggestion, I stopped going on Facebook. I still kept it instead of deleting it because I didn’t want people to freak out the way they did the first time, but I stopped using it.

Fast-forward many years, and in January of this year, I tried to open a Facebook for the psuedonym I use for novels. Facebook immediately flagged me as suspicious and asked me to prove I was me by uploading a photo. And I was kind of like, ....Why do you need my photo? What’s that going to prove? All I can assume is that, of course, they have a database of what we all look like. How they know I’m not just grabbing a random photo of the person I’m trying to impersonate off the internet is another question entirely. But I was like, Fine, whatever, I don’t feel like fighting with you, Facebook, so I gave up on having a pseudonym page.

And then I started thinking: Why did I still have a Facebook? I never go on Facebook. All the stuff had happened with the election, so it wasn’t like people would freak out anymore if I deleted it, they’d totally get it. And I kind of no longer wanted to give Facebook bragging rights about how many users it has by counting me when I don’t actually use it. And Zuckerberg’s attitude seemed to be that if you didn’t like Facebook, you shouldn’t use Facebook. I COMPLETELY disagree with this sentiment on his part because I think it completely ignores how many people can’t opt out of Facebook at this point, but luckily, I can opt out of Facebook.

...Or so I thought.

Except that I requested deletion of my Facebook, and they confirmed deletion and said I was scheduled for deletion within two weeks, and then...just never deleted my Facebook. Which I only know because they keep sending me emails about me being tagged and people sending me messages (even though I also keep requesting to be unsubscribed from those emails). (And also my friends still on Facebook confirm for me that I’m still on there.) I don’t know if you’ve ever tried to get in touch with Facebook but...you can’t. It’s impossible. Try not being on Facebook and finding ANY contact information for Facebook other than a paper mailing address. If you find the contact info, please let me know!!! They have zero available email addresses, they don’t respond to their Twitter, and the phone number that circulates online is a dangerous scam stealing your social security numbers (which Facebook knows and warns you about but still doesn’t provide you with any way to contact them).

So my anger with Facebook isn’t just about gathering and selling my data, it’s the culmination of years of mistrust and knowing it’s not healthy for me in general and then BEING DENIED MY RIGHT TO DELETE IT AND BEING RENDERED COMPLETELY POWERLESS. Like, the longer this has gone on, and the longer I have realized that there is literally nothing I can do to get Facebook to delete my account, the angrier and angrier I have gotten.

So. That’s Facebook. As for the Alexa, well. You’re right. It sits in my house and is probably recording everything that happens in the house. Which is...basically nothing. I’m only home a few waking hours a day because I work full-time. I travel most weekends, so I’m not there on the weekends. I live alone, so I don’t talk much in my house. I have people over maybe two or three times a year, and then I can unplug the Alexa and stick it out in the garage and I feel relatively okay about that???? I might be kidding myself there, but, if worse comes to worst, I can throw the Alexa out entirely, and I think I’m okay. So I feel mostly in control of Alexa and its eavesdropping on me.

I worry more about the fact that I’m supporting Amazon in the first place, since I disagree with most of Amazon’s policies. I feel really guilty about that and do want to extract myself from the Amazon dependency I developed. My only shopping option in my town was Wal-Mart, and at the time when I moved there a few years ago I thought it was better to support Amazon than Wal-Mart. Now I’m not so sure about that (although I guess the lesson I’ve been learning is that there is no company I really want to give my money to).

I also worry more about the fact that I have a smartphone than an Alexa. I was very, very late to adopt a smartphone--years and years after everyone else had them--because I was very wary of them. I’m used to them now, but I don’t like how much information the smartphone has on me. I’ve given up a little bit, because I just...did. But the information the Alexa has is tiny compared to how much my phone has. And we all know that we have our suspicions that the phones are listening to us the whole time. And I *do* talk on the phone. I don’t talk much in my house, but my phone is the device I use to talk on (I talk a lot while walking around the neighborhood, waiting between classes at work, etc.). So the phone is getting every conversation I have, not the Alexa.

All that said: I don’t know that I can completely disconnect now. I shouldn’t have a smartphone, or a Twitter, or a Tumblr, but I decided that at a certain point what I’m really going to strive to do is be conscious about this technology and work to shape it in better ways. Is this naive and idealistic of me? Yes. Undoubtedly. I have nothing I can say to defend myself on that point. I absolutely should just unplug...but that’s difficult to do, and I do feel like (as the EU is trying here) there are ways to make this technology less dangerous.

Anyway. That’s my thought process. I think we all make the decisions we feel fit what we’ve considered. I don’t care much for Facebook, so it’s easy for me to disconnect (well, it would be if Facebook would let me, which is part of my major Facebook problem). I find Alexa useful and because I don’t do much around it and it’s connected to less stuff than my cell phone to begin with, it doesn’t bother me as much, and I feel like I can change my mind and get rid of it fairly easily. Of course, I could be wrong about that. I always thought I could delete my Facebook at any time, too.

Everyone might get done reading this and think, Wow, EGT is an absurd human being who makes zero sense. That is a completely true statement.

it’s not one specific memory exactly, more like. a mix of lots of memories. in the summer he used to play outside all day with the other kids who lived in his neighborhood (very poor, pretty decrepit houses, mostly dust and dying grass) and like. those were some of the best times for him? because he was still too young to care that their family didn’t have enough money to send him to school, or that all of his clothes were hand-me-downs with at least one tear that had been fixed, or that his mother’s face was worn with wrinkles that would better suit someone much older than she was. so he’d play pretend with these kids in his neighborhood, and go on “adventures” and kick around pebbles and wrestle in the dirt, and then he’d come back home to his mother calling him, and she’d wash his face and feet and hands gently and tuck him into bed and he’d fall asleep under the heat to the sound of her soft voice and the insects buzzing in the grass.

3. WHAT IS YOUR CHARACTER’S LEAST FAVORITE MEMORY?

he’s got plenty to pick from, so i don’t think there’s one specific worst. but the gazes of people he willfully hurt, potentially even killed, really haunt him. he tries not to think about the stuff he did when he was younger.

oh man. anything romantic that would make his date happy. it’s cliche, but he’s fond of long walks and candlelit dinners. he’s an exceptionally hopeless romantic.

my boi gots lotsa names. his birth name makes him nostalgic, but he doesn’t really attach it to himself anymore -- the only person who can call him that is his mother. the name he used when he was a thief he absolutely despises. he still twitches if he hears it spoken, regardless of if it’s pointed towards him or not. he picked the name he has now himself, so he likes it quite a bit thank you very much. it makes him feel like a distinguished human gentleman. he’s a fucking doof.

al is not someone who hates easily. he trusts easily (too stupid to learn from his past mistakes, he’d remark bitterly, but really it’s because he’s an idealist by nature and wants to believe people are inherently good). he doesn’t respond well to betrayal. at all. he accidentally punched a dude to death once for betraying the group. to be fair, the dude was really fucking old, and he only had one hit point left and failed all his death saves so like. not really al’s fault. you woulda done it too if you were in the same situation

9: HOW DOES YOUR CHARACTER FEEL ABOUT RELIGION?

neither of his parents are very religious, and he wasn’t raised religious either, so it doesn’t really matter to him all that much

yes, but only if he felt it was justified and there were no better options. he is strongly against killing people who he feels don’t deserve it, but there are some people he would kill without hesitation solely because he believes their death will benefit many others. he’s got. complicated morals.

he met borem when they were assigned to be partners. they’re both detectives. although not sure how long that friendship is gonna last now...............
